Singapore. BMW Asia returns to the Singapore
Motorshow 2025, with the launch of three special models in response to
growing customer needs in the market: the BMW 530i Signature, the
all-new BMW 1 Series (CAT A COE hatchback), and the Singapore
Motorshow premiere of the all-new BMW X3. From 9-12 January 2025,
visitors can discover these models at the BMW Group Pavilion at Suntec
City Convention Centre (Level 4, Booth 4217 and 4218).

“We are excited to introduce models that represent the best of each
body style – hatchback, SAV and sedan,” said Lars Nielsen, Managing
Director, BMW Group Asia. “The BMW 530i Signature is available for the
first time in Singapore and expands the BMW 5 Series range to four
variants. The all-new BMW 1 Series, now in its fourth generation,
increases our Cat A COE offerings and welcomes a stylish new era of
premium hatchbacks. Finally, the all-new BMW X3, BMW’s global
best-selling model in 2023, is the ideal companion for families and
active individuals alike thanks to its versatility and comfort.”

The 1175 sqm BMW Group Pavilion, the largest presence ever for both
BMW and MINI brands at the Singapore Motorshow, showcases a first-ever
two-level booth with the New Owners Lounge located on the Mezzanine
Level, curated food and beverage offerings, and more. This impressive
space is the result of close collaboration across all BMW Group Dealer
Partners in Singapore – Performance Motors Limited, Eurokars Auto, and
Eurokars Habitat.

“The Singapore Motorshow isn’t just an automotive show for us,” said
Claudia Wieshuber, Director of Marketing, BMW Asia. “It’s an
opportunity to kick-off the new year, welcome old and new customers to
see our latest models, engage them in a variety of activities and
leave them with memorable experiences. We’ve worked tirelessly with
our partners to ensure all our customers have the best experience
possible when they visit the BMW Group Pavilion and we hope we’ve
raised the bar for us and others moving forward.”

2025 also marks BMW Group Asia’s 40th anniversary in
Singapore. “This is a milestone for us and one we plan to celebrate
throughout the year,” said Nielsen. “We have grown as an organisation,
and with our partners in the markets, to be where we are today. We are
committed to further developing our Importer Markets across the
Southeast Asian, South Asian and Pan Pacific regions and securing our
position as the number one premium brand.”

Singapore. BMW Asia today announced the availability
of the all-new BMW 1 Series. 20 years since its introduction, the
pioneer of driving pleasure in the premium compact segment is
sharpening its sporty profile with a dynamic design presence,
completely revised drive portfolio and extensively improved chassis
technology. Since 2004, more than 3 million units of the BMW 1 Series
have been delivered to customers. The fourth generation of the BMW 1
Series is produced at BMW Group Plant Leipzig.

“The all-new BMW 1 Series is modern, innovative and striking in equal
measure,” said Lars Nielsen, Managing Director, BMW Group Asia. “Just
months after the launch of the head-turning BMW M135 xDrive, we are
completing our premium compact portfolio with the all-new BMW 116 M
Sport. Its Category A COE placement makes it the ideal choice for
hatchback fans to zip around in, and we are excited to wow our
customers with the car’s driving prowess and advanced digital features.”

Typical BMW proportions in a compact format.

The dimensions of the five-door model have changed only slightly
compared to its predecessor. The exterior length of the all-new BMW 1
Series has increased by 42 millimetres. The vehicle width is 1,800
millimetres, while the height has increased by 25 millimetres to 1,459
millimetres. Despite its compact dimensions, the all-new BMW 1 Series,
based on a modern front-wheel drive architecture, offers generous
space for up to five passengers and their luggage.

Silhouette with dynamic wedge shape, powerful rear.

The side view of the all-new BMW 1 Series is also characterized by
clearly defined surfaces. The long bonnet, the forward-leaning BMW
radiator grille, the sweeping roofline, and the flat side window
graphics that taper towards the rear create a dynamic wedge shape. The
all-new BMW 1 Series comes with M high-gloss Shadow Line as standard.
The black side window surround also features a graphic element with
the embossed number 1 in the area of the Hofmeister kink counter-swing
on the C-pillar. A long roof spoiler and side air deflectors also
contribute to the stretched silhouette.

With its strikingly flat front end, the all-new BMW 1 Series sits
significantly lower to the road than its predecessor, underlining its
sporty character. The headlights, which are set above the BMW radiator
grille and extend well into the wheel arches, show the brand’s typical
four-eyed face in a modern interpretation. Two vertical, slightly
arrow-shaped LED units provide the position and daytime running lights
and turn indicators. Adaptive LED headlights with glare-free matrix
high beam are available as standard. They also feature blue accents
and a cornering light function.

The exhaust tailpipes of all model variants are invisibly integrated
into the rear apron. The flat rear lights protrude into both the
luggage compartment lid and the side section, highlighting the widely
flared rear wheel arches. The design of the light sources inside the
headlights is echoed by vertically aligned LED elements for the rear
light and turn indicators. The paint finishes for the all-new BMW 1
Series include two solid colours and seven metallic colours.

Dynamic appearance with M Sport Package and M Sport Design.

The standard M Sport Package makes the all-new BMW 1 Series even more
dynamic. The unique exterior design features include a front apron
with extra-large air intakes, M specific side skirts and a
particularly powerful rear apron with a three-dimensional diffuser
element. In addition, the front, side, and rear sections are linked by
a black body surround, giving the car a particularly flat and
road-hugging appearance from all angles. 18-inch M light alloy wheels
with a Y-spoke design are standard.

Interior and equipment: Progressive cockpit, clean design,
high-quality feel.

The centrepiece of the progressive cockpit design is the BMW Curved
Display. It serves as the stage for the new BMW iDrive based on the
BMW Operating System 9. The number of buttons and controls on the
instrument panel and centre console has been significantly reduced
through the consistent digitalization of the display and operating
system. The control panel between the driver and front passenger,
including the gear selector, has also been redesigned.

New seats, generous space, modern functionality.

The all-new BMW 1 Series offers generous space for up to five
passengers with easy access and generous legroom in the rear. The
newly designed seats offer optimized lateral support and a high level
of long-distance comfort. Electric seat adjustments, including memory
on the driver’s side are available as standard. With the exception of
the seat depth and headrest height, which are adjusted manually, all
adjustments can be made from an integrated control panel.

The rear seat backrest can be split and folded down 40:20:40 as
standard, to adapt the luggage space to the customer’s needs. As a
result, the storage capacity under the high-swinging tailgate can be
increased from 380 litres to up to 1,200 litres.

The standard M Sport Package includes sport seats with Veganza
upholstery in four different colour choices or M Alcantara and Veganza
combination in black with blue accents. The M Sport Package includes
an M leather steering wheel with a distinctive three-spoke design and
shift paddles.

Automatic air conditioning with digital control via BMW iDrive.

The standard automatic air conditioning in the all-new BMW 1 Series
is fully integrated into BMW iDrive. It is fully digitalized and
controlled by touching the Control Display or using voice control. The
outer seam vents of the air conditioning system are integrated into a
distinctive trim element that closes off the instrument panel on both
sides. Ventilation is provided by discreetly integrated air vents in
the centre of the cockpit. New control knobs allow the intensity and
direction of airflow to be adjusted by turning and tilting.

In conjunction with the M Sport Package, the instrument panel next to
the BMW Curved Display features diagonal stitching in the colours of
BMW M GmbH. In addition to the M leather steering wheel and sport
seats in Veganza and the corresponding interior surfaces, the specific
design features of the M Sport Package for the interior also include
an anthracite roof liner, M specific displays on the information
display, an M pedal set, and interior trims in aluminium hexacube matt.

Extended standard equipment, wide range of customization options.

The standard interior lighting package for the all-new BMW 1 Series
includes waterfall lighting for the centre console and indirect
lighting in the door trim area. At the front, the intensity and colour
of the footwell lighting can be individually adjusted, and the
lighting mood can also be varied in the instrument panel area.

The latest generation of BMW TwinPower Turbo technology.

A completely revised drive portfolio forms the basis for the
increased dynamics and efficiency of the new generation of the all-new
BMW 1 Series. The highly efficient petrol engine available for the
all-new BMW 1 Series is part of the latest generation of the Efficient
Dynamics engine family. All engines in the all-new BMW 1 Series are
combined with the latest version of the 7-speed dual-clutch
transmission Steptronic as standard and transmit their power to the
road via the front wheels. With a maximum power output of 90 kW/122
hp, the drive system of the all-new BMW 116 with its three-cylinder
petrol engine accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.8 seconds.

Chassis technology and driving experience: Consistently
optimized agility and comfort.

The chassis technology in the all-new BMW 1 Series, which has
undergone extensive development compared to the predecessor model,
ensures the driving pleasure typical of the brand in the premium
compact segment. The agility, steering precision, and cornering
dynamics of the all-new BMW 1 Series benefit from the increased
rigidity of the body structure and the chassis connection. The front
end also features a strut brace in the engine compartment and
particularly solid axle mounts.

A large number of other innovations contribute to the consistent
optimization of ride comfort as well as sporty handling. These include
the increased tyre diameter line, which also enhances the visual
presence of the all-new BMW 1 Series. The caster of the front wheels
has been increased by 20 per cent to ensure optimum steering feedback
and particularly stable directional stability. New shock absorber
technology enhances ride comfort by reducing body roll during dynamic
cornering. In addition, a centrally positioned pendulum support for
the engine mounts optimizes acoustic comfort in the all-new BMW 1 Series.

With directly controlled wheel slip limitation and the integrated
braking system, the new model generation features innovative systems
that deliver a superior driving experience. The standard M Sport
Package for the all-new BMW 1 Series includes the Adaptive M Chassis
with lowered suspension and sport steering.

Front and rear axle feature newly developed components.

Highly preloaded anti-roll bar mounts are used at both front and
rear. They help to improve body support when cornering, while at the
same time improving ride comfort. They also increase steering
precision. The front and rear axles feature heavy-duty wheel bearings
with a weight and friction-optimised design to improve the car’s efficiency.

Optimized front axle kinematics promote agile steering and a steering
feel that is largely unaffected by driving forces. The supports for
the hydro mounts, which are now made of aluminium, reduce the car’s
weight by around three kilograms. In addition to the hydro mount
supports, the front axle support has also been redesigned to optimise
impact energy absorption and occupant protection in the event of a collision.

The design principle of the rear axle makes a significant
contribution to the increased driving dynamics potential of the
all-new BMW 1 Series. Their model-specific design provides extra
rigidity, combined with a rigidly connected rear axle support, to
ensure precise wheel guidance with high lateral acceleration. In
addition, the more compartmentalised arrangement of springs and
dampers means less space is required. This has a positive effect on
the amount of space available and the comfort of the passengers in the rear.

Ride comfort in the all-new BMW 1 Series is enhanced by a newly
designed suspension and damping system. The central innovation is the
stroke dependent additional damping on the front axle. This is
generated by means of an additional sleeve on the shock absorber and
ensures that the body is stabilized when driving over small bumps and
that the transition into bends is excellent. Both front and rear
suspension is tuned to the weight of the respective model variant. The
conventional suspension springs are supplemented by progressive
springs. A three-way support bearing transfers the force of the main
and auxiliary springs directly to the body. This decouples the shock
absorbers, allowing their rubber mounts to be designed independently
of the vehicle’s load and preload, and optimizing ride and acoustic comfort.

Extensive safety equipment.

The all-new BMW 1 Series offers a comprehensive package for optimized
safety as standard with the Driving Assistant. This is ensured in
particular by the advanced front collision warning system. It includes
Collision Warning, pedestrian, and cyclist warning with braking
function, and Crossroads Warning. Other standard comfort and safety
features include Cruise Control with brake function, Speed Limit Info,
Traffic Sign Recognition with No Overtaking Display and Route-ahead
Assistant, Manual speed Limit Assist, emergency steering intervention,
Lane Departure Warning with lane return, Rear Collision Warning, and
Exit Warning.

The standard Parking Assistant enables automatic parking and
reversing in both on and off-street parking spaces. It also includes
Active Park Distance Control with front and rear sensors, a rear view
camera, Reversing Assistant, and trailer assistant.

Display and control system, connectivity: Innovative user
experience with the BMW Operating System 9 and BMW Digital Premium.

The latest version of the BMW iDrive display and operating system
with QuickSelect is now available in the all-new BMW 1 Series. Based
on the BMW Operating System 9, it offers optimized options for
intuitive and convenient control of numerous functions and for the use
of innovative digital services. With the BMW Curved Display and the
BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, the new BMW iDrive is consistently
geared towards operation via touch functions and natural speech. The
operating system also includes multifunction buttons on the steering wheel.

BMW iDrive with QuickSelect. Fast and direct access to the
functions you want.

The standard BMW Curved Display in the all-new BMW 1 Series also
offers a modern interpretation of the cockpit design with the typical
BMW driver focus. It consists of a 10.25-inch Information Display and
a 10.7-inch Control Display. The Control Display’s new home screen
permanently displays the navigation system’s map view or other
individually configurable displays. On the same level, the driver’s
side of the screen features vertical widgets that can be swiped
through. QuickSelect enables functions to be accessed directly without
having to switch to a submenu. Additional information and settings can
be accessed by swiping horizontally across the widget.

BMW Digital Premium from the BMW ConnectedDrive Store.

With BMW ConnectedDrive Upgrades, customers can also test selected
functions free of charge for a period of one month and then book them
for a specific term. The highlight of the programme in the BMW
ConnectedDrive Store is the BMW Digital Premium offer. As part of a
subscription, customers can use all the apps available in their
country, for example from the areas of music streaming, video
streaming, news, or games in the vehicle. BMW Digital Premium also
includes data usage for all digital services and apps from the BMW
ConnectedDrive Store, including music and video streaming.

The cloud-based BMW Maps navigation system is also part of the BMW
Live Cockpit Plus, which comes as standard in the all-new BMW 1
Series. It is easy to use and provides fast, dynamic route planning.

Optimized dialogue with the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.

The latest version of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant responds
to naturally spoken instructions and has continuously expanded its
capabilities. In order to optimise the dialogue between the driver and
the vehicle, interactive graphics are shown on the Control Display
which, for example, signal the attention of the digital companion and
display appropriate symbols in response to selected voice commands.
For example, the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant responds to the
request to find the nearest petrol station with an image of a petrol pump.

Optimum networking: Smartphone integration, 5G mobile phone
antennas, BMW ID, and My BMW App.

The standard equipment of the all-new BMW 1 Series includes optimized
smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. The
services are integrated directly in the display and operating system
via a Wi-Fi connection between the respective smartphone and the
vehicle. The all-new BMW 1 Series comes with 5G mobile reception as standard.

To personalise the user experience with BMW ID, simply log in to the
vehicle for the first time using a smartphone and scan the QR code.
The personal profile is then added and synchronisable settings are
loaded. Functioning as a universal digital interface, the My BMW App
provides information on the vehicle’s status at all times. It also
provides remote access to functions such as locating the vehicle and
locking and unlocking the doors.

The Telephony with Wireless Charging option allows compatible
smartphones to be charged wirelessly in a storage compartment in the
front of the centre console, which is significantly larger and now
also cooled compared to the predecessor model.

Munich. The BMW Group is expanding its revolutionary
driving experience with BMW M Mixed Reality, which breaks down the
boundaries between the physical and virtual worlds through
state-of-the-art VR/MR technologies. The vehicle itself becomes the
controller - a unique 3D interaction between driver, vehicle and environment.

"Mixed reality" refers to the fusion of of physical and
digital worlds into a seamless experience. BMW M first presented mixed
reality technology at the Web Summit in Lisbon in November 2022 and
has been continuously developing it ever since.

With BMW M Mixed Reality, fans and first movers can immerse
themselves in a digital world while physically sitting at the wheel of
a BMW M vehicle and controlling it.

First-ever multisensory multiplayer

The possibilities of virtual reality are boundless: On a secret
mission, you enter the BMW M Garage and from there, you ascend to the
top of the BMW M Rooftop Circuit. Surrounded by skyscrapers, two BMW M
Mixed Reality customers now race against each other virtually in a
multiplayer mode A new feature is that spectators with personified
avatars can virtually watch the race live from the BMW M Mixed Reality
Bridge. They do not have to be physically present in the area where
the multiplayers are driving. They can be virtually connected using
devices like the Meta Quest or Apple Vision Pro.

BMW M Mixed Reality will be presented again in Lisbon this year. For
BMW M fans, BMW M Mixed Reality has been available in the singleplayer
mode since autumn 2023 as part of the BMW M Driving Experience in
Maisach, the world's first driving experience for customers.

For BMW M fans, BMW M Mixed Reality has been available in the
singleplayer mode since fall 2023 as part of the BMW M Driving
Experience in Maisach, the world's first driving experience for
customers. The pilot project began this year at the BMW M Performance
Driving School in California, USA.

Merging reality and the virtual world

The new BMW M Mixed Reality Rooftop Circuit was also a highlight at
the presentation of BMW M Mixed Reality. Drivers had to evade virtual
obstacles and collect BMW M coins in a shimmering metropolis. The BMW
M135 vehicles were used, which thanks to technical refinements can be
used as M Mixed Reality vehicles.

This includes very precise GPS positioning on the road surface in
order to transfer position and movement to the virtual world. Every
acceleration, every turn and every braking manoeuvre is transmitted to
the virtual world without latency thanks to precise sensor technology
and signal processing. Not only the movements of the vehicle are
transmitted, but also those of the driver.

The technology for this is already integrated into the standardised
in-vehicle systems of all BMW and BMW M automobiles. These systems are
so precise that no additional sensors are required.

Another key element is the VR headset that the driver wears to
experience the digital world. This headset must be connected to the
vehicle's internal systems in order to synchronise movements and data
in real time. Thanks to this equipment, various BMW M models can be
used for BMW M Mixed Reality, regardless of the drive system. This
includes vehicles with a conventional combustion engine such as the
BMW M2 or BMW M4 as well as models with a fully electric powertrain
such as the BMW i5 M60. In the future, BMW M can also imagine offering
the new BMW M5 with M Mixed Reality. The technology is flexible and
can be adapted to different vehicle platforms to provide a consistent
and immersive mixed reality experience.

Digital innovations for the driving experience

BMW Group Mixed Reality is an answer to what future virtual
experiences in the automotive sector could look like. At the current
stage of development, it enables perfect controllability in every
driving situation. Drifting will also be possible in the future,
although no date has yet been set for when customers will be able to
have this experience.

MINI also benefits from the BMW Group Mixed Reality umbrella: There
are also plans to offer customers a multi-sensory mixed reality
driving experience.

In addition, further applications in the field of vehicle development
and professional training are already being investigated. For example,
there is potential as a valuable addition to existing simulator
driving in the dynamic driving area, without compromising driving
safety, or in the development of driver assistance systems. On
existing racetracks, a Professional Track Trainer could in the future
display content such as the ideal line and braking points to drivers
in order to train them to drive even more precisely. Current AR
headset technology is not yet accurate enough for this ambitious use case.

Leipzig. The first fourth-generation BMW 1 Series to
roll off the production line at BMW Group Plant Leipzig is a BMW 120
in Alpine White for a customer in Germany (combined fuel consumption:
6.0 - 5.3 l/100 km (62 miles); CO2 emissions combined: 135 - 121 g/km
according to WLTP; CO2 classes: D). The premium compact is
manufactured exclusively at Plant Leipzig, in Saxony, where up to 500
of the cars can be made per day. Combined with the BMW 2 Series Gran
Coupe, BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and MINI Countryman, this puts daily
output from Plant Leipzig at up to 1,300 vehicles. The new BMW 1
Series is due for market launch in October 2024.

The new BMW 1 Series marks the start of a new chapter in the BMW
brand’s almost 20-year success story in the compact segment.
Production of the model first began with the three-door at Plant
Leipzig in 2007. Since then the plant has manufactured more than 1.3
million in a range of variants. As at the end of June 2024, nearly
443,000 third-generation BMW 1 Series have been delivered to
customers. “The new BMW 1 Series will remain a key factor in
maintaining high capacity utilisation here at plant Leipzig,” said a
confident Petra Peterhänsel, Plant Director.

Plant upgraded to increase capacity

Since 2018 BMW Group Plant Leipzig has undergone systematic upgrades.
It can now produce up to 350,000 units a year – 100,000 more than
previously. It currently manufactures four models with three different
types of drive by two different brands – all on the same production
line. Since November 2023 output has been boosted by the MINI
Countryman. Production of that will rise during the course of this
year to 500 units a day, in addition to the 800 or so BMW vehicles.

The increase in production volumes is securing existing jobs as well
as creating new ones. An additional 900 people are set to join vehicle
production alone, by the end of 2024 Plant Leipzig will employ around
7,000 people.

Dynamic design, new drive portfolio

With a dynamic design presence, completely revised drive portfolio
and extensively improved chassis technology, the BMW 1 Series
continues to sharpen its profile as the sportiest vehicle in the
competition. The front end is strikingly flat and sits significantly
lower to the road than the predecessor’s, signalling that more than
ever, this car is geared towards sporty driving pleasure. The wide,
forward-leaning radiator grille features an innovative arrangement of
vertical and diagonal bars. LED headlights come as standard and give
the car a striking “four-eyed face”.

The pronounced rear apron with its vertical reflectors, two-part rear
lights and black, diffusor-style insert add to the vehicle’s powerful
appearance. Inside, the new BMW 1 Series is now completely
leather-free as standard. The redesigned cockpit features the BMW
Curved Display. The optional M Sport Package makes for an even more
dynamic look, as does the special M Sport Design equipment option,
available from market launch in Europe.

Contrast roof – a first in the BMW 1 Series

The body of the new BMW 1 Series is available in a choice of two
solid-colour and seven metallic finishes. BMW Individual paintwork
will also be on offer, along with a wide range of BMW Individual
Special Paints. The new BMW 1 Series is also the first BMW to feature
the optional contrast paintwork, with a roof in high-gloss black. As
with the MINI Countryman, the roof will be painted at Plant Leipzig
using a new, overspray-free painting process that is easier on
resources. Known as overspray-free painting, the method is currently
being piloted and works without producing the mist of excess paint
that usually occurs.

The new BMW 1 Series is due for market launch on 5 October. The
strongest markets for the 1 Series so far have been Germany and
Europe, and the UK and Italy especially.

Press Contact: Kimberley Ng
Tel: +6568389532
E-mail: kimberley.ng@ctt.yespaygroup.com

Press Release,1 Series,5 Door,Production Plants,Leipzig,Product,BMW

entering its fourth model generation. With a dynamic design presence,
a completely revised drive portfolio and extensively improved chassis
technology, the new BMW 1 Series has sharpened its profile as the
sportiest vehicle in the competitive environment. Highly efficient
engines with 48-volt mild hybrid technology and a production process
designed to conserve resources and recycle materials optimise
sustainability throughout the entire product life cycle. Its
progressive character is also reflected in the redesigned interior, an
extended range of automated driving and parking systems, the new BMW
iDrive with QuickSelect and innovative digital services based on BMW
Operating System 9.

The premiere of the new BMW 1 Series marks the start of a new chapter
in the brand's 20-year success story in the compact segment. The new
model generation will also be produced at the BMW Group plant in
Leipzig. Its market launch is scheduled for October 2024. The most
important sales region is the German domestic market. In addition to
other European countries, Japan is one of the top five markets for the
new BMW 1 Series.

Exterior design: Dynamic front end and hallmark BMW proportions.

The sporty aura of the BMW 1 Series is underlined in the latest model
generation by typical BMW proportions: a long bonnet, a passenger cell
set well back, a dynamically flowing roofline and a powerful rear end.
The dimensions of the five-door model have changed only slightly
compared to its predecessor. The exterior length of the new
BMW 1 Series has increased by 42 millimetres to 4,361 millimetres,
while the wheelbase is 2,670 millimetres. The vehicle width is 1,800
millimetres, while the height has increased by 25 millimetres to 1,459 millimetres.

With a strikingly flat front end that sits significantly lower to the
road than its predecessor, the new BMW 1 Series signals its sporty
character more than ever. The wide, forward-leaning BMW radiator
grille features an innovative structure of vertical and diagonal bars.
The standard LED headlights feature striking vertical elements for the
daytime running light and the turn indicators. Adaptive LED headlights
with glare-free matrix high beam, cornering light function and blue
accents are optionally available.

The side view of the new BMW 1 Series is characterised by the dynamic
wedge shape and the flat window graphics that taper towards the rear.
The standard BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line includes a graphic
element with the number 1 in the Hofmeister kink counter-swing on the
C-pillar. A long roof spoiler and side air deflectors emphasise the
stretched silhouette. Vertical reflectors and a black diffuser-style
insert add to the powerful appearance of the rear apron. The striking,
two-part rear lights extend will into the side sections.

The body paintwork of the new BMW 1 Series is available in two solid
paintwork finishes and seven metallic finishes. Four BMW Individual
paint finishes and a wide range of BMW Individual special paint
finishes are also available. The new BMW 1 Series is the first model
in the brand's range to be available with an optional contrasting roof
paint finish. The high-gloss black finish adds to the sporty
appearance of the car.

BMW M automobile with individual performance character.

The optional M Sport Package and the M Sport Design optional
equipment available at market launch in Europe make the new
BMW 1 Series even more dynamic. Its M specific design features include
large air intakes on the front apron, pronounced side skirts and a
three-dimensional diffuser element in the rear apron.

At the top of the model range is the BMW M135 xDrive (combined fuel
consumption: 8.1 - 7.6 l/100 km (62 miles); CO2 emissions
combined: 184 - 173 g/km according to WLTP; CO2 classes: G
- F) with significantly enhanced performance characteristics. The BMW
M model is powered by a 221 kW/300 hp four-cylinder engine, features
an Adaptive M Chassis with sport steering and intelligent all-wheel
drive as standard and accelerates from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in
4.9 seconds. On the outside, the M radiator grille with horizontal
bars, M exterior mirror caps and four exhaust tailpipes make it
instantly recognisable as a top-of-the-range model. An M Technology
Package with specific suspension components, stiffness and lightweight
measures, an M Compound brake system and 19-inch forged light-alloy
wheels is available exclusively for the BMW M135 xDrive. An M Sport
Package Pro and model-specific BMW M Performance Parts are also
available for all variants of the new BMW 1 Series.

Sporty premium ambience, leather-free interior.

The newly designed interior of the new BMW 1 Series, which is
completely leather-free as standard, offers a modern premium ambience
with sporty accents and generous space for up to five occupants. Newly
designed seats offer a high level of comfort for long journeys. Sport
seats in the Econeer version with covers and upholstery made from
recycled polyester and M sport seats are optionally available.
Perforated seat surfaces are also available in the Veganza version
with leather-like properties. The Veganza/Alcantara equipment is part
of the M Sport Package and standard equipment in the BMW M135 xDrive.

Heated seats and a wide range of electric adjustments, including
memory on the driver's side, are available as options for all seat
versions. Lumbar support can be added to the sport seats and the
M sport seats. An optional massage function is also available for the
sport seats. A driver and front passenger interaction airbag is now
fitted as standard to further enhance occupant protection. By folding
down the rear seat backrests, the storage space under the tailgate can
be increased from 380 litres to 1,200 litres (BMW 120, BMW 120d: 300 -
1,135 litres).

High-quality surfaces and trim, the redesigned gear selector and the
BMW Curved Display underline the progressive, premium ambience of the
interior. The fully digital display system comprises a 10.25-inch
Information Display and a 10.7-inch Control Display. The number of
buttons and controls in the cockpit has been significantly reduced
thanks to the consistent use of digital technology. The air
conditioning in the new BMW 1 Series is also controlled digitally. As
an alternative to the standard sport steering wheel, a similarly
redesigned M leather steering wheel is also available. It is part of
the M Sport Package and has shift paddles for manual gear changes.

New generation of engines, 7-speed Steptronic transmission
with dual clutch as standard.

Like the BMW M135 xDrive engine, all of the other engines available
for the new BMW 1 Series are part of the latest generation of modular
engines from the BMW Group. The three-cylinder petrol engine of the
new BMW 120 (combined fuel consumption: 6.0 - 5.3 l/100 km (62 miles);
CO<sub>2</sub> emissions combined: 135 - 121 g/km according to WLTP;
CO2 classes: D) and the four-cylinder diesel engine of the
new BMW 120d (combined fuel consumption: 4.8 - 4.3 l/100 km (62
miles); CO2 emissions combined: 125 - 112 g/km according to
WLTP; CO2 classes: D - C) are combined with 48-volt mild
hybrid technology, which enhances both their efficiency and their
spontaneous power delivery. All of the drive units transmit their
power to a 7-speed Steptronic transmission with dual clutch as standard.

With a maximum power output of 125 kW/170 hp, the drive system of the
new BMW 120 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.8 seconds.
The new BMW 120d generates a power output of 120 kW/163 hp and
accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.9 seconds. The BMW 118d,
also powered by a four-cylinder diesel engine (combined fuel
consumption: 5.2 - 4.6 l/100 km (62 miles);
CO2
emissions combined: 136 - 122 g/km according to WLTP; CO2
classes: E - D) delivers 110 kW/150 hp and an acceleration of 8.3 seconds.

Improved body rigidity and further development of the chassis.

The agility, steering precision and cornering dynamics of the new
BMW 1 Series benefit from the increased rigidity of the body structure
and the chassis connection. Advanced chassis technology includes
optimised kinematics, highly preloaded anti-roll bar mounts and new
shock absorber technology. The caster of the front wheels has been
increased by 20 per cent, ensuring particularly stable directional
stability and optimised steering feedback.

In addition to the directly controlled wheel slip limitation, the new
BMW 1 Series also features an integrated braking system and 17-inch
light-alloy wheels (BMW M135 xDrive: 18-inch) as standard. The
optional M Sport Package includes the Adaptive M Chassis, which lowers
the vehicle by up to 8 millimetres, sport steering and 18-inch
light-alloy wheels. Up to 19-inch light-alloy wheels and an M sport
brake system are also available as optional equipment.

State-of-the-art systems for automated driving and parking.

The new BMW 1 Series offers a significantly extended range of
automated driving and parking systems as standard or optional
equipment. Standard features include the Driving Assistant with front
collision warning, Lane Departure Warning, Exit Warning and Traffic
Sign Recognition, as well as the Parking Assistant with Reversing Assistant.

Highlights of the optional range include Steering and Lane Control
Assist, Automatic Speed Limit Assist and route guidance when using
Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function. Parking Assistant
Professional is also available for the new BMW 120 and the new
BMW 120d, allowing parking and manoeuvring to be controlled by smartphone.

Expanded standard equipment, targeted individualisation.

In addition to the high-quality assistance systems, the significantly
expanded range of standard equipment of the new BMW 1 Series also
includes automatic air conditioning, alarm system, electrically
folding exterior mirrors and the BMW Live Cockpit Plus including the
BMW Maps cloud-based navigation system. New optional equipment
packages allow targeted individualisation.

The Innovation Package includes BMW Live Cockpit Professional with
BMW Head-Up Display and Augmented View on the Control Display as well
as Parking Assistant Plus. The Premium Package includes the telephone
option with wireless charging, Comfort Access, logo projection from
the exterior mirrors, automatic dimming interior mirror and adaptive
LED headlights. The range of optional equipment also includes 2-zone
automatic air conditioning, a panoramic glass roof and a Harman Kardon
sound system.

The new BMW Operating System 9, BMW iDrive with QuickSelect
and BMW Digital Premium.

The new BMW 1 Series features the latest version of BMW iDrive with
QuickSelect for intuitive and convenient operation of the vehicle's
functions. The new home screen shows function icons vertically
arranged on the same level. "QuickSelect" allows direct
access to functions without having to switch to a submenu. The new BMW

functions to be integrated into the vehicle over-the-air. With BMW
ConnectedDrive Upgrades, customers can also test selected functions
free of charge for a period of one month and then book them for a
specific period. The new BMW Digital Premium offer can also be booked
for the new BMW 1 Series in the BMW ConnectedDrive Store.

BMW Digital Premium makes it possible to use country-specific apps,
such as music and video streaming, news or gaming, in the vehicle as
part of a subscription. The offer also includes data usage for all
digital services and the apps contained in the BMW ConnectedDrive
Store. BMW Digital Premium also extends the functions of the BMW Maps
navigation system and the selection of My Modes and the lighting for
the welcome and goodbye animation. In selected countries, BMW Digital
Premium also enables digital payment of parking fees and fuel bills
from the vehicle.

Smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ is

Singapore. BMW Asia and Performance Munich Autos
today announced the availability of the new BMW M135i xDrive. The
sporty flagship of the BMW 1 Series range combines a cutting-edge
chassis system and the BMW Group’s most powerful four-cylinder engine.
The result? A dynamic sharpness unprecedented in front-wheel drive
cars, allowing the new BMW M135i xDrive to set new standards in the
premium compact class.

Exterior and interior design: a real head-turner.

The new face of the BMW 1 Series and its fresh interpretation of
iconic BMW features is seen most clearly on the new BMW M135i xDrive.
The range-topper stands out with a distinctive kidney grille featuring
a pronounced mesh design that replaces the classical bars – this
three-dimensional element is inspired by racing cars and lends the
front end additional depth and stature. Another distinguishing feature
is the additional insert fitted in each of the eye-catching outer air
intakes, making a strong statement of sporting intent.

The new BMW M135i xDrive also underscores its status as the sporting
flagship of the range with exclusive looks and colour accents in
Cerium Grey. Its surround and three-dimensional elements come in
Cerium Grey, likewise the additional model-specific trim of the outer
air intakes, the mirror caps and the angle-cut exhaust tailpipes (100
mm in diameter) tracing the contour of the bumper. Other elements of
the exterior mirrors and the BMW M rear apron come in High-gloss
Black. The window graphic surrounds adopt BMW Individual high-gloss
Shadow Line trim, while the exclusive BMW M rear spoiler in body
colour adds a final flourish to the hatchback’s distinctive design.
The new BMW M135i xDrive is fitted with 18” M wheels in the
Double-spoke style 556 M Bicolour as standard.

The sporty elements continue in the interior, where the upholstery in
cloth and alcantara mix combine with a driver-oriented layout to
create a premium ambience. The M Leather steering wheel is pleasing to
the touch, while the new M Sport seats reinforce the dynamic driving
experience. Optionally available in the signature Magma Red leather,
the seats feature an integrated headrest with M marking, setting
powerful optical accents in the interior of the new BMW M135i xDrive.
The discreet lighting of the illuminated interior trim finishers
(Illuminated Boston design) and the optional large panoramic glass
roof add a further layer of appeal in the range-topping BMW 1 Series.

Operation by iDrive Controller, touch, or voice: intuitive in
every way.

The new BMW M135i xDrive lets drivers use a variety of operating
methods, depending on the situation and personal preferences. In
addition to the usual buttons on the centre console and steering
wheel, other frontline control elements include the iDrive Controller
and touchpad for intuitive usage. The standard-fit BMW Live Cockpit
Professional, based on the new BMW Operating System 7.0, brings
together the fully digital display and operating system (including two
10.25-inch displays) with maximum connectivity and customisability.
Standout features include an adaptive navigation system and a
hard-drive-based multimedia system.

Powertrain and chassis: modern front wheel drive with a sporty
BMW character.

The third generation of the BMW 1 Series showcases the debut
appearance of BMW’s cutting-edge new front-wheel-drive architecture,
creating benchmark driving dynamics for the segment. The fast, precise
responses of the BMW M135i xDrive are clearly perceptible and elevate
the driving experience to new heights.

To create a torsionally rigid body, the tower-to-tower strut is
complemented with additional bracing at its front end and in the
tunnel area, plus an anti-roll bar mounting with high preload and a
multi-link rear axle, thereby providing excellent support for the body
and a smooth ride. The M Sport steering has power assistance that is
varied according to road speed and lateral acceleration, thereby
reducing the steering effort required. When combined with the Adaptive
suspension including VDC (Variable Damper Control) on the new BMW
M135i xDrive, there is a noticeable increase in the car’s agility,
creating an even bigger appetite for corners. Handling poise at high
speeds is enhanced by sophisticated aerodynamics that reduce axle
lift. Finally, the M Sport brakes offer excellent fade resistance and
abundant reserves of stopping power at all times.

The BMW xDrive system’s intelligent control logic varies the
distribution of drive power between the front and rear wheels
automatically and dynamically in response to the accelerator pedal
position, engine torque, speed and steering angle. It can split drive
power 50:50 if necessary and is designed to ensure predictable
handling in all driving situations. This applies even if the Driving
Experience Control switch is set to Sport mode, DTC is selected, or
DSC is deactivated. In Comfort or Eco Pro mode, drive is split as
required, while keeping fuel consumption as low as possible. Fuel
economy is therefore improved without any discernible impact on
driving dynamics or traction.

As well as the all-wheel-drive system, standard specification for the
sporty BMW M135i xDrive range-topper includes a newly developed
mechanical Torsen limited-slip differential, which gives the car an
even sportier edge by creating a locking effect between the front
wheels. The differential is integrated into the standard-fit
eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission on the BMW M135i xDrive and
also features a Launch Control mode that already puts the full peak
torque of 450 Nm on tap in first and second gear.

Power plant: the BMW Group’s most powerful four-cylinder engine.

Of the various engines available for the new BMW 1 Series, it is the
newly developed four-cylinder unit under the bonnet of the new BMW
M135i xDrive that really steals the show. This is the BMW Group’s most
powerful four-cylinder engine – it produces a formidable 306 hp from
its 2.0-litre displacement between 5,000 and 6,250 rpm with the help
of BMW TwinPower Turbo technology. Its peak torque of 450 Nm comes on
stream at 1,750 rpm and stays there up to 4,500 rpm. The flagship
model races to 100 km/h from rest in a mere 4.8 seconds, while top
speed is limited to 250 km/h.

A reinforced crankshaft drive featuring a main bearing with a larger
diameter, new pistons with an altered compression ratio, and modified
con rods with non-bushed ends provides the necessary basis for the
formidable power unleashed by the new BMW M135i xDrive. A larger
turbocharger featuring a built-in exhaust manifold and integral
diverter valve increases engine output and is thermodynamically
efficient at exhaust temperatures of up to 1,025 degrees Celsius.
Modified injectors have also been fitted to increase the flow volume.
The capacity of the cooling package has been maximised with an
independent transmission oil cooler that is separated from the
engine’s coolant circuit, an electric 850-watt fan, two remote coolant
radiators in the wheel arches and an enlarged expansion tank, ensuring
that the new BMW M135i xDrive is able to display its performance
capabilities even under the most demanding conditions. The
range-topping engine is assisted by a newly developed twin-pipe
exhaust system with minimal exhaust backpressure, which is instantly
identifiable by the pair of bespoke angle-cut tailpipes. The
standard-fitted Active Sound Design (ASD) system amplifies the actual
sound from the engine and modulates it so the driver is treated to an
exhilarating, wonderfully sporty soundtrack without any increase in
external noise emissions.

Parking Assistant: providing the latest in smart driver support.

The new BMW M135i xDrive provides assistance with parking in the form
of the Parking Assistant with Reversing Assistant systems. The Parking
Assistant enables automatic assisted parking in parallel and
perpendicular spaces, as well as automatic manoeuvring out of parallel
parking spaces. Celebrating its premiere in the premium compact class
is the innovative Reversing Assistant, which stores the steering
movements for any section the car has just driven forward along at no
more than 36 km/h. The system is then able to steer the vehicle in
reverse – for distances of up to 50 metres at up to 9 km/h – along
exactly the same line it took when moving forward.

Comfort Access: unparalleled convenience with the smartphone
becoming a car key.

With the Comfort Access features as standard, the BMW Digital Key
allows the new BMW M135i xDrive to be locked and unlocked from a
smartphone using Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. Holding
the smartphone up to the door handle opens the car – even if the phone
battery is depleted. The engine can be started as soon as the phone
has been placed in the wireless charging tray. Accessible via BMW
Connected once the owner’s identity has been checked, the Digital Key
offers unrivalled flexibility, as the driver can share it with up to
five other people. The BMW Digital Key is available for
top-of-the-range NFC-capable Samsung Galaxy smartphones running
Android 8.0 and above. Alternatively, the BMW Key Card can be used –
this sophisticated option also features NFC technology and so offers
the same functionality as a suitably equipped smartphone.

BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant: expert and conversation partner.

Another new element has been added to the control and operating
concept for the new BMW M1355i xDrive in the form of the BMW
Intelligent Personal Assistant first unveiled in the BMW 3 Series
Sedan. The Intelligent Personal Assistant is a genuine BMW expert and
is familiar with virtually all the car’s functions. After waking the
system with the prompt “Hey BMW”, drivers can operate their car and
access its functions and information simply by speaking. The BMW
Intelligent Personal Assistant is a digital character with his own
personality, who can learn routines, preferred settings and habits –
and subsequently apply them in the appropriate context or engage in
casual conversation. One unique feature over other digital assistants
is that drivers can give this one a name of their choice.

Connected Navigation: for a more relaxed arrival.

Connected Navigation services allow internal and external information
to be factored into route planning. BMW 1 Series drivers will be able
to send destinations from various apps straight to their car’s
navigation system. The most important destinations will be stored in
BMW Connected and synchronised with the car, so that key addresses can
be accessed from any device at any time.

The new BMW M135i xDrive is now available for viewing at the
Performance Munich Autos showroom.
