The forward-looking minimalist design philosophy of these two new models offers a fresh interpretation of MINI's iconic design, perfectly integrating electrification and digital innovation into the brand's DNA. At the auto show, the BMW Group showcased its full lineup of 15 models across its two major brands : led by the new BMW X5, the BMW X family presented the "most comprehensive" luxury product lineup in the SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle) segment; the BMW 7 Series, 5 Series, and 3 Series comprised the entire mid-to-large luxury lineup, demonstrating BMW's continued product leadership in key markets. From entry-level compact cars to large luxury vehicles, the BMW booth lineup covered almost the entire luxury market segment, encompassing various powertrain options including gasoline, pure electric, plug-in hybrid, and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles , reflecting the BMW Group's strong innovative leadership and consumer appeal in the Chinese luxury car market. In 2024 , BMW will launch over 20 new BMW and MINI models in China to further meet the diverse needs of consumers.

BMW Group Chairman Oliver Zipse, along with Member of the Board of Management for Customers, Brands and Sales Jochen Goller, attended a press conference to reaffirm BMW's long-term confidence and commitment to the Chinese market and outline BMW's vision for the future of luxury mobility driven by innovation. Zipse stated, " BMW has never stopped innovating and continuously optimizes its various drive technologies, not only to protect the environment but also to ensure that the diverse needs of our customers are met. Through the new generation of models, we hope to showcase the systematic implementation of the three core areas of the future automotive industry — electricity, a clear focus on sustainability, and full digitalization. This also means that BMW will fully embrace the future in three dimensions: design, technology, and philosophy. " Senior Vice President of Design at the Group, Adrian Hooydonk, along with the BMW and MINI design teams, also accompanied the group to Beijing to communicate closely with Chinese consumers, listen to the voices of users at the forefront of automotive technology, and draw inspiration from the Chinese market.

Defining the future of mobility: BMW's " Panorama Bridge " brings revolutionary interactive innovation, and BMW's next-generation concept cars lead the way for future models to leap towards electric, intelligent, and sustainable luxury.

The BMW next-generation concept car, making its debut in China, showcases the core characteristics of BMW's future: electrification, digitalization, and sustainability . It reinforces BMW's sporty and luxurious image in an extremely modern and innovative way, defining the future of intelligent luxury personal mobility. The first production BMW next-generation model will be launched in 2025, and within 24 months of its production, at least six more next-generation models will be introduced to the market.

The design of BMW's new generation concept car retains classic BMW elements while also featuring groundbreaking innovations. The C-pillar design on the side of the concept car reinterprets the classic " Hofmeister kink , " further emphasizing the vehicle's sporty feel and improving rear passenger visibility. The front and rear are visually striking, combined with sculpted body lines to visually represent BMW's "pure driving pleasure."

Stepping inside, the all-electric platform maximizes interior space. Sunlight streams in through large windows and a panoramic sunroof, transforming the cabin into a warm and bright " second living space ." The introduction of the BMW Panoramic View Bridge in this new generation model represents a quantum leap in head-up display technology , redefining BMW's core " driver-oriented " philosophy. Important information is displayed at the bottom of the windshield with brighter light and higher contrast, placing it within the driver's line of sight along with the road. Furthermore, the driver-centric principle ensures optimal viewing angles throughout the vehicle. The central display screen features a more innovative irregular shape and is optimized based on the driver's line of sight, ensuring the screen presents the driver with the best possible viewing angle, keeping their " eyes forward ."

Furthermore, in the new generation of models, BMW's Super Brain elevates "Pure Driving Pleasure" to a whole new level, delivering more precise and powerful performance and greater efficiency. The new generation represents BMW's latest interpretation of the "Pure Driving Pleasure" philosophy: " BOOST " represents the classic pure driving pleasure of BMW when driving alone, while " EASE " represents a safe , relaxed, and enjoyable experience when driving intelligently. BMW has always pursued " Efficient Dynamics, " and the new generation of models achieves a new breakthrough in overall vehicle efficiency: the sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology increases battery cell energy density by over 20%, overall vehicle efficiency by 25%, driving range by 30%, and the charging technology voltage platform by 800 volts.

Staying true to pure driving pleasure: The all-electric BMW i4 and the new BMW M4 are refreshed with more striking designs and an evolved driving experience.

In 2023, the BMW i4 achieved global sales of over 80,000 units, becoming one of the best-selling luxury all-electric models. At this auto show, the new all-electric BMW i4 made its global debut, its dual evolution in aesthetics and driving pleasure undoubtedly continuing the BMW i4's sales legend . The upgraded BMW kidney grille and other exterior design elements further embody the sporty and pioneering spirit of the new all-electric BMW i4, visually interpreting the essence of the BMW brand: "pure driving pleasure." The low center of gravity, combined with BMW's fifth-generation eDrive electric drive technology, makes it truly unique to experience its charm only by holding the steering wheel.

The M brand has always been the most alluring core of BMW. The new BMW M4 Coupe features newly designed angel eye headlights , and the laser taillights, exclusive to the limited-edition BMW M4 CSL (only 1000 units produced worldwide) , among other ingenious design details, giving the new car a more modern feel. Adhering to the principle of "design serving function," the new car is equipped with the latest generation BMW operating system, an optimized M- specific interface , and the M-exclusive M driving mode , bringing the driver-vehicle unity experience into an increasingly intelligent digital future. The new BMW M4 perfectly embodies BMW M's philosophy of "derived from the racetrack, but not limited to the racetrack," bringing Chinese customers a more extreme and pure driving pleasure while helping BMW maintain its leading position in the high-performance car segment.

The all-new MINI family makes its global debut: a classic interpretation that innovates while preserving its heritage, featuring the industry's first circular OLED display.

As a British brand under the BMW Group, MINI is unique and has a large following. MINI's first all-electric crossover, the MINI Aceman , made its global debut in Beijing . Its youthful personality sets it apart from other MINI models, winning over MINI fans upon its debut. Also on display was MINI 's core model, the fifth-generation MINI three-door electric version — the all-new electric MINI Cooper , marking its first official appearance in China .

These two electrified models, perfectly integrated into the MINI DNA, join forces with the newly launched MINI JCW Countryman to form a brand-new MINI family, showcasing the quintessential MINI charm at the Beijing Auto Show. Two powertrains, three new models—whether hybrid or electric—the new MINI family demonstrates MINI's enduring classic appeal and its continued leadership in automotive trends.

Accelerating the pace of renewal: BMW will launch more than 20 new BMW and MINI models in China in 2024.

At the BMW booth, the BMW X family occupied half the space, reflecting its near-half-sized share of BMW's sales in the Chinese market. The X family is a pillar of the BMW brand. Since the BMW X5's debut in 1999, pioneering the high-performance Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) market, the BMW Group has become one of the luxury car manufacturers with the most comprehensive and diverse product line in the luxury SAV market over the past 25 years. The X5 has consistently held the top sales position in its segment for many years. Looking ahead to 2024, the BMW X family will continue to launch new models, further solidifying its leading position in the Chinese luxury SAV market.

The BMW 7 Series, the all-new BMW 5 Series, and the BMW 3 Series represent one of BMW's most important core markets , and BMW is undoubtedly the leader in this segment. The all-new BMW 5 Series, launched earlier this year, represents the pinnacle of luxury intelligent connected vehicles . Beneath its youthful and luxurious exterior lies the unique BMW driving pleasure enhanced by "human-machine collaboration" and "driving in the environment." The BMW 7 Series, BMW's flagship model, is the first in the large luxury car market to offer three powertrain options: gasoline, pure electric, and plug-in hybrid , catering to diverse customer preferences. The personalized "Pioneer Two-Tone" paint finish fully satisfies the discerning tastes of high-end customers, showcasing the exceptional character of both driver and car. As a synonym for "sporty luxury," the BMW 3 Series unsurprisingly holds the top spot in its segment's sales for 2023. In the large and mid-size luxury sedan market, BMW is not only the only brand offering both gasoline and electric vehicles, but also maintains its vitality and leading position through a continuous product refresh cycle.

In the new year, supported by its strong system capabilities, the BMW Group will accelerate its overall revitalization, with more than 20 new and upgraded BMW and MINI brand products forming a highly digitalized and diverse product lineup to fully meet the needs of Chinese customers.

Press Contact: Tongxin Gao
Telephone: +86-10-8455-8495
Email address: tongxin.gao@bmw.com

Tag 3
