BMW India launched the first-ever BMW X1 Long Wheelbase All Electric at the Auto Expo 2025. The car can be booked at BMW dealerships across India from today onwards.

The BMW X1 Long Wheelbase All Electric becomes the first electric vehicle by BMW to be ‘Made in India’. Locally produced at BMW Group Plant Chennai, the BMW X1 Long Wheelbase All Electric is available exclusively in the eDrive20L drivetrain.

The typical BMW driver-orientation, clear reduced design along with an interplay of eye-catching graphics, modern colours and futuristic textures create an immersive visual appearance. The new Instrument Panel Luxury in Sensatec elevates the interior’s aesthetics. Decorative strips including ambient lighting in instrument panel and front doors as well as accent trim strips in Pearl Chrome enhance the premium character of the cabin. BMW X1 sDrive 18d M Sport is powered by a 1,995 cc four-cylinder diesel engine which produces 148 hp and 360 Nm of maximum torque. The car sprints from 0 to 100 km/hr in 8.9 seconds. The average fuel consumption is 20.37 km/ltr as measured by Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) for Indian market specifications.

BMW X1 sDrive 18i xLine is powered by 1,499 cc three-cylinder petrol engine which produces 134 hp and 230 Nm of maximum torque. The car sprints from 0 to 100 km/hr in 9.2 seconds. The average fuel consumption is 16.3 km/ltr as measured by ARAI for Indian market specifications.

The seven-speed steptronic dual-clutch transmission in both variants performs smooth almost imperceptible gearshifts. The all-new BMW X1

Rugged proportions, powerfully sculpted surfaces and all the hallmark visuals of a sports activity vehicle (SAV) – the design of the second generation of BMW X1 exudes poise and independence but remains unmistakably a BMW, even at first sight. The ‘three-eyed’ face formed by the twin circular LED headlights and the fog lamps is likewise a hallmark feature X model.

The interior design majors on authoritative driving pleasure. The interior of the all-new BMW X1 boasts exemplary ergonomics and typical BMW driver orientation. The elevated seating position typical of a BMW X model, a new interpretation of the hallmark driver-focused cockpit treats its passengers to the best possible view, enjoyed with a premium ambience that exudes high quality and workmanship. Seats are electrically adjustable on both the driver and front seat passenger sides. There is another thing the all-new BMW X1 has in abundance – space. The vehicle has grown in height and space compared to its predecessor. The luggage compartment now accommodates up to 505 litres. The rear seat can also be completely folded down to increase the compartment capacity to an impressive 1550 litres.

The all-new BMW X1 adapts perfectly not only to an active lifestyle but also to personal taste. The three exclusive design schemes – Expedition, xLine and M Sport offer options that meet individual requirements. xLine is the perfect choice to further emphasise off-roading character of the all-new BMW X1. It reinforces the impression through its satinised aluminium add-ons and specific 18" light alloy wheels. Special colours and materials in the interior stylishly round off the xLine. M Sport unleashes the sporting potential of the all-new BMW X1. The TwinPower Turbo 1,995 cc four- cylinder diesel engine delivers excellent power output and responsiveness even at low RPMs. The turbocharger technology with variable turbine geometry and common rail direct fuel injection system ensures both fuel efficiency and low emissions that yields an exceptional power output of 140 kW / 190 hp. High torque of 400 Nm is available at just 1,750 – 2,500 rpm. The all-new BMW X1sDrive 20d (Expedition and xLine) accelerates from 0 to 100 km / hr in 7.8 seconds with a top speed of 222 km / hr.  The all-new BMW X1xDrive 20d (xLine and M Sport) accelerates from 0 to 100 km / hr in 7.6 seconds with a top speed of 219 km / hr.     

The new eight-speed steptronic automatic transmission performs smooth, almost imperceptible gear shifts. At any time, in any gear, the transmission collaborates perfectly with the engine, enabling it to develop its full power and efficiency.

The all-new BMW X1 is equipped as standard with Servotronic speed-sensitive steering assistance which allows parking and turning-off manoeuvres to be completed safely and comfortably with little steering effort. At higher speeds drivers can especially look forward to the steering precision.

BMW xDrive, an intelligent all-wheel-drive system, in the all-new BMW X1 monitors the driving situation constantly, is quick to respond and is more efficient than ever.  The compact, low-weight and efficient all-wheel-drive system distributes the engine’s power between the front and rear axle exactly to suit the driving situation and the surface. Urban all-rounder delivers boundless driving pleasure. The all- new BMW X1. (Short version)

The new BMW X1 – the successor to the model that blazed the trail for this class of car – treats the premium compact segment to an even more potent shot of Sports Activity Vehicle DNA. The second generation of this successful model, more than 730,000 units of which have now been sold, takes to the stage with a body design straight out of the BMW X model mould. The interior of the new BMW X1, meanwhile, offers significantly more space for passengers and luggage, a cutting-edge premium ambience and functionality grounded in solid engineering.

Four-cylinder engines from the BMW Group’s latest generation of power units, an efficiency-optimised version of the BMW xDrive intelligent all- wheel-drive system and newly developed chassis technology all help to palpably enhance sporting ability and ride comfort compared to the outgoing model – with fuel consumption and emissions reduced by up to 17 per cent, model-on-model.

Alongside its market-leading dynamics and efficiency, a host of innovative equipment features also help to secure the new BMW X1 its stand-out position in the segment. There are host of features prominent ones are full-LED headlights, the BMW Head-Up Display, Paranoma Sunroof, Navigation Plus with iDrive Touch Controller.

A typical BMW X model: sturdy proportions, impressive variability and established premium characteristics.

Rugged proportions, a powerful presence and dynamic lines lend the new BMW X1 a commanding in the BMW X model family. The new model has grown in height compared to its predecessor (+53 millimetres), which has helped increase the spaciousness of the interior. And its significantly raised seating position (+36 millimetres at the front, +64 millimetres at the rear) optimises the driver’s view out over the road.

Knee room in the rear has increased by 37 millimetres and by up to 66 millimetres with adjustable rear seat, while the 505-litre boot capacity is 85 litres larger than that of its predecessor which can be extended to as much as 1,550 litres.

The interior design of the new BMW X1 combines the driver-focused cockpit design that has become a hallmark of the brand’s models with touches promoting authoritative, SAV-style driving pleasure and a contemporary premium ambience.

New generation of engines, efficiency-optimised xDrive all-wheel- drive system.

The new generation BMW X1 comes with all-new BMW TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder 2 liter diesel engine (Fuel economy of 20.68 km/l and CO2 emission of 127.89 g/km) with the power output of 140kW(190 hp) @ 4000 rpm.

The engines link up with either 8-Speed Steptronic Automatic transmission or 8-Speed Steptronic Automatic Sport transmission (incl. Launch control and Paddle shifts), both of which are new developments.

The xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system also takes its place in the new BMW X1 in a further developed form. The weight-saving, compact and efficient system uses an electro-hydraulically controlled multi-plate clutch to distribute drive between the front and rear axle just as required for the situation at hand.

Premiere in the BMW X1: Head-Up Display and Navigation Plus with iDrive Touch Controller.

The change of BMW X1 generations also brings significant advances in the field of intelligent connectivity. A new addition to the range of BMW ConnectedDrive features is a BMW Head-Up Display which, as in the larger BMW X models, projects driving-related information directly onto the windscreen.

The BMW X1 also comes with Navigation Plus with iDrive Touch controller. Extended functionalities such as distance from destination, estimate time of arrival etc. along with 22.3cm display takes the connected drive experience to all new level. These systems are complemented by an up-to-the-minute selection of apps allowing customers to add to the car’s comfort, navigation and infotainment functionality, as desired.

Gurgaon. The new BMW X1 was launched at an exclusive driving event at a specially designed off-road track in Gurgaon.

The BMW X1 Drive Experience is being organized for BMW customers and prospects from 14 – 17 February 2013 on the off-road track and a scenic city route to showcase the versatility of the new BMW X1.

The new BMW X1 is produced (CKD - Completely Knocked Down) at BMW Plant Chennai and is available at BMW dealerships across India.

The advanced engine with CommonRail direct injection enables an output of 135 kW/184 hp, produces maximum torque of 380 Nm, and accelerates from 0 – 100 km/hr in 7.9 seconds with the ability to achieve a top speed of 205 km/hr.

New Delhi. The new BMW X1 was launched in New Delhi in three variants: BMW X1 sDrive18i (petrol), BMW X1 sDrive20d (diesel) and BMW X1 sDrive20d Exclusive (diesel) and can now be ordered at BMW dealerships across India.

The new BMW X1: Description in Brief

The new BMW X1 expands and enhances the range of BMW X models by yet another innovative vehicle concept. Through its body design the BMW X1 demonstrates self-confident elegance, versatile and sporting character, as well as spontaneous agility. For the first time the features and characteristics of a BMW X model are carried over in modern style into a unique vehicle in the premium compact segment.

The interior of the BMW X1 is characterised by clear function and trendsetting, modern style. In the cockpit, the centre console is tilted slightly towards the driver so all the relevant operating functions are arranged to provide a sense of personal control. The elevated seating position, a generous feeling of space, the wide range of storage options and the variable interior offer ideal conditions for enjoying the new BMW X1 both in an urban environment and beyond.

The interior can be flexibly adjusted to individual requirements. The new BMW X1 has room for spontaneity through fully variable rear seats with separately folding centre section and adjustable backrest angle. The rear-seat backrest comes with ten-stage tilt adjustment from 1 to 31 degrees. The rear-seat backrest is divided in three parts (a split of 40/20/40) and can be individually folded down to increase the luggage compartment capacity from 420 litres to a maximum of 1,350 litres.

The panorama glass sunroof, available in the new BMW X1 sDrive20d Exclusive, creates a particularly bright ambience. Seats in the new BMW X1 are electrically adjustable on both the driver and front seat passenger sides.

A turbocharger with variable intake geometry and common-rail fuel injection gives the four-cylinder diesel in the new BMW X1 sDrive20d a maximum output of 130 kW/177 hp at an engine speed of 4,000 rpm as well as maximum torque of 350 Nm all the way from 1,750 to 3,000 rpm. It accelerates to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds with the ability to achieve the top speed of 205 km/hr. The average fuel consumption is 15.24 km/ltr as measured by Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) for Indian market specifications.

The 110 kW/150 hp four-cylinder petrol version featured in the new BMW X1 sDrive18i provides a similarly economical entry into the world of BMW X models. This engine delivers peak torque of 200 Nm at 3,600 rpm reaching its maximum output at 6,400 rpm. Acceleration from a standstill to 100 km/hr comes in 10.4 seconds with top speed of 200 km/h. The average fuel consumption of BMW X1 sDrive18i is 11.24 km/ltr as measured by ARAI for Indian market specifications.

All versions of the new BMW X1 are equipped as standard with six-speed automatic transmission with short reaction and gearshift times. In India, the new BMW X1 comes with the dynamic rear-wheel drive system which means the driver enjoys typical BMW agility and driving pleasure – namely precise handling, flawless cornering ability and incomparable dynamics.

New Delhi.  The new BMW X1 scheduled to be launched in India by end of 2010 was unveiled at the 10^th Auto Expo. The new BMW X1 will be CKD produced at the BMW Plant Chennai by end of the year.

At Auto Expo 2010, BMW India launched the limited edition of the new BMW Gran Turismo in India. Only the elite few in India will have the opportunity to own one of the 100 exclusive limited edition BMW Gran Turismo.
