Munich. With yet another new sales record, the BMW M
GmbH continued to grow also in the 2020 fiscal year. Despite the
effects of the Corona pandemic on the market, it was possible to
increase the number of BMW M automobiles sold by 6 percent to
144,218 units. Thanks to this result, the subsidiary company of the
BMW Group with the status of an independent company has significantly
strengthened its market leadership within the competitive environment
first gained in 2019. “The fact that we were able to conclude this
exceptionally challenging year with yet a further record is great
validation of our consistent growth strategy,” says Markus Flasch,
chairman of the board of the BMW M GmbH. “We can be particularly proud
of the fact that we were able not only to defend our market dominance
as the most successful provider of performance and high-performances
automobiles, but also to have even expanded it.”

The further increase in sales figures was due, inter alia, to the
successful market launch of the models BMW X5 M (combined fuel
consumption: 13.1 – 12.6 l/100 km according to WLTP, 13.0 – 12.8 l/100
km according to NEDC; combined CO2 emissions: 298 – 287
g/km according to WLTP, 296 – 287 g/km according to NEDC) and BMW X6 M
(combined fuel consumption: 13.4 – 13.1 l/100 km according to WLTP,
13.1 l/100 km according to NEDC; combined CO2 emissions:
305 – 300 g/km according to WLTP, 301 g/km according to NEDC). With V8
power units delivering up to 460 kW/625 hp, BMW M automobiles from the
Sports Activity Vehicle and Sports Activity Coupe segment offer a
particularly characteristic high-performance experience. Likewise, the
special edition model BMW M2 CS (combined fuel consumption:
10.1 – 9.2 l/100 km according to WLTP, 10.4 – 9.4 l/100 km according
to NEDC; combined CO2 emissions: 229 – 210 g/km according
to WLTP, 238 – 214 g/km according to NEDC), which serves as the basis
for a new competition vehicle from BMW Motorsport, has also received a
positive response. In the high-performance model sector alone, it was
possible to increase the number of worldwide deliveries by 4 percent
vs. the year 2019.

Moreover, it was predominantly the performance automobiles developed
for the new BMW 3 Series and the new BMW 4 Series that helped boost
the sales of the BMW M GmbH so decisively. With powerful straight
six-cylinder petrol and diesel power plants, specific suspension
tuning and stand-alone design features, the top-of-the-range offer for
the BMW 3 Series Sedan, the BMW 3 Series Touring and the BMW 4 Series
Coupe also guarantees that characteristic M experience in the premium
mid-range segment, coupled with unrestricted suitability for everyday
use and long distances.

Growing demand in all relevant markets.

Technology transferred from motor racing, precisely coordinated
features in the areas of drive systems, suspension, aerodynamics,
interior design and operation as well as the resulting authentic
character of BMW M automobiles, create a fascination, which continued
in 2020 to captivate an increasing number of performance-oriented
customers throughout the world. For example, in the USA, the most
important market for BMW M automobiles, as well as in China, new
records were achieved. In both Russia and Korea, it was possible to
increase sales by more than 60 percent, and in Italy by 47 percent.
And in the UK, too, the number of vehicles delivered exceeded our
expectations. “We notice a steadily growing demand in all relevant
markets for BMW M automobiles,” explains Thomas Felbermair, head of
Sales and Marketing at BMW M GmbH. “Because of this and thanks to the
engagement of our strong dealer network, we have been outstandingly
successful in coping with the challenges posed by the pandemic.”

Ready to go: BMW M5 CS, BMW M3 Sedan and BMW M4 Coupe.

Looking towards the future, the initial focus shifts to the world
premiere of the BMW M5 CS, which will take place in January 2021. A
special edition of the BMW M5 will then be available for the first
time – with outstanding performance and exclusive motorsport
characteristics. Following that, the main focus will be on the market
launch of the new BMW M3 Sedan starting in March 2021 (combined fuel
consumption: 10.6 – 10.3 l/100 km according to WLTP, 10.8 l/100 km
according to NEDC; combined CO2 emissions: 241 – 236 g/km
according to WLTP, 248 g/km according to NEDC) and the new
BMW M4 Coupe (combined fuel consumption: 10.5 – 10.3 l/100 km
according to WLTP, 10.8 l/100 km according to NEDC; combined
CO2 emissions: 240 – 235 g/km according to WLTP, 248 g/km
according to NEDC). The two high-performance automobiles represent the
essence of that unmistakable M feeling. Immediately after their world
premiere, the new model generation aroused keen interest around the globe.

In future, the wishes of the M Community will be fulfilled by
extraordinary diversity: Each variant with classic manual shift will
be complemented by a Competition model featuring an 8-speed M
Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic. Moreover, in the summer of
2021, the four-wheel drive system M xDrive will be added for the first
time to the drive portfolio for the BMW M3 and the BMW M4. And the
BMW M4 Convertible will also be launched in time for the warm season.
On the other hand, the first BMW M3 Touring is still undergoing the
series development process.

A glance into the future: continued growth, new M feeling
through electrification, and an anniversary.

“It is remarkable that it was possible to achieve the new sales
record even before the launch of our most important models,” says
Markus Flasch. “The new BMW M3 and BMW M4 generation offers us the
promise of dynamic growth in 2021 as well.” Moreover, he now also
looks forward to presenting a completely new manifestation of the
distinctive M feeling. Electrification will provide the basis for
this. During the year 2021, the BMW M GmbH will be presenting an
electrically powered performance automobile for the first time.

With this setting of agenda with which the “Power of Choice” strategy
has been realised within the model range of the BMW M GmbH, and an
exceptionally strong product range, the company is heading full of
optimism for the forthcoming anniversary year. 2022 will be the year
in which the BMW M GmbH celebrates 50 years of its existence. Markus
Flasch has already announced “a year full of surprises”: “If I mention
the keyword special edition models, it should be clear what our
customers can look forward to during the anniversary year.”

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.

BMW Group New Zealand will launch the third generation of the X5 M
and X6 M models in May 2020 with stunning levels of performance,
design and dynamic capabilities.

Both models will be offered for the first time in Competition guise
only, guaranteeing local customers the highest possible level of
specification and power output.

The new models combine the acclaimed X5 and X6 platforms with the
most powerful engine in the segment: the mighty 460kW and 750Nm BMW M
TwinPower Turbo V8 engine.

These figures mark a 37kW power hike on the previous generation X5 M
and X6 M engine and help to propel the new X5 M and X6 M from
0-100km/h in just 3.8 seconds. This is four tenths of a second faster
than the outgoing models.

Technical highlights of the new engine include twin-scroll
turbochargers located in the V of the engine for optimum efficiency
and response, a forged crankshaft for exceptional torsional force
resistance and a motorsport oil supply system that integrates baffling
and active suction in the sump to deliver lubrication where needed for
track use.

The cooling system also evokes a racecar set up with 10 individual
coolers including two water cooled intercoolers for the turbochargers
and oil coolers for engine and transmission.

Drive is sent to the ground via an eight-speed M Steptronic
transmission with Drivelogic, which adopts the same M control concept
as the BMW M8 Competition vehicles.

The standard fitment M Sport exhaust system is characterised by four
100mm black chrome tailpipes. The exhaust delivers a loud, emotive
soundtrack that emphasises the high revving and considerable output of
the BMW TwinPower Turbo V8.

Chassis enhancements include Adaptive M Suspension Professional,
which highlights the dynamic potential of the X5 M and X6 M with
multiple modes, and the precise and direct M Servotronic steering. The
latter is also adjustable between COMFORT and SPORT settings.

Both vehicles also feature BMW M xDrive and Active M differential to
deliver maximum traction and elevated dynamics for all driving
situations. The fully variable M xDrive has a rear-biased set-up that
brings the front axle into play only when the rear wheels are at the
limits of adhesion.

The Active M differential is a needs-based differential lock that
optimises traction, handling and stability elements.

The racetrack ready M compound brake system, featuring six piston
fixed calipers at the front with 395mm drilled and inner-ventilated
discs and single-piston floating calipers with 380mm discs at the
rear, delivers astonishing stopping power. The system can bring the X5
M and X6 M from 100km/h to rest in just 32 metres.

The X5 M and X6 M also follow the M8 Competition in offering two
levels of braking feel via the COMFORT AND SPORT settings.

Both the X5 M and X6 M match the outstanding performance with
striking styling and design aspects. Large intakes provide a dynamic
aesthetic quality while ensuring an effective supply of air to the
engine, transmission and brakes.
Short overhangs and dynamic
rooflines further highlight the X5 M and X6 M models as high
performance flagships.

In addition, the wheel and tyre packages provide a dominant
appearance while also contributing to outstanding roadholding. Both
vehicles feature M light alloy wheels with star-spoke style design
shod with 295/35 section tyres on the front and 315/30 section tyres
on the rear.

The interior of both the X5 M and X6 M combine purposeful BMW M
elements with luxury appointments that provide a premium cabin
ambience. It features M multifunction sport seats trimmed in full
leather ‘Merino’ upholstery and BMW Individual Alcantara headliner.
It is the first time this upholstery and headliner have been
offered as standard equipment.

A suite of advanced safety and convenience systems including BMW
Driving Assistant Professional, Parking Assistant Plus and BMW Live
Cockpit Professional with twin 12.3-inch LCD colour displays
complement the supreme performance of both models.

The X5 M Competition Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV)-style model is
priced at $219,900, while the X6 M Competition Sports Activity Coupe
(SAC) is $225,600.

Both vehicles are available to order now with deliveries
beginning in May this year.

Condition Based Servicing

As with all New Zealand-new BMW vehicles a five year warranty, three
year service inclusive programme and five year roadside assist
coverage is fully included.

All maintenance requirements for the new BMW X5 M Competition and X6
M Competition are controlled by the Condition Based Servicing (CBS) system.

With CBS, sensors and advanced algorithms monitor and calculate the
conditions in which a vehicle is used, including mileage, time elapsed
since its last service, fuel consumption and how a vehicle is driven.
Based on the information captured, maintenance requirements are
determined, identifying whether an annual vehicle inspection or oil
service is due.

Selected BMW service and maintenance costs can be covered by a
single, one-off advance payment with BMW Service Inclusive (BSI),
which is available in two packages: Basic or Plus.

Press Contact: Brendan Mok
Tel: +61-3-92644011
E-mail: brendan.mok@bmw.com.au

Press Release,X5 M,X6 M,G05,Product,BMW M

BMW Group New Zealand will further enhance its
line-up of high performance M vehicles with introduction of the all
new BMW X5 M Competition and BMW X6 M Competition models in Q2, 2020.

The third generation BMW X5 M and X6 M Competition combine supreme
power and performance with exceptional versatility and practicality.

Both models feature modern, luxurious and generous proportions that
demand attention. The signature BMW M kidney grille with black double
bars adorn the front design along with matching M gills, exterior
mirror caps, diffuser trim in the rear apron and exhaust pipes in black.

The all new BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M Competition are both powered by a
4.4-litre M TwinPower turbocharged V8 petrol engine that helps deliver
the standard sprint in a blistering 3.8 seconds.

Power is delivered instantaneously through an eight-speed M
Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic whereby gearshift
characteristics can be adjusted via the Drivelogic button on the
M-specific selector lever. For added control, manual gear shifting is
available via M shift paddles on the steering wheel.

In addition, the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system and Active M
Differential produce rear-wheel bias driving dynamics and work
cohesively together to create agile, performance-focused handling.

Specifically tuned M chassis and suspension geometry further elevate
the all-round capability of the BMW X5 M and X6 M Competition. A
combination of stiff suspension mountings, enhanced camber values and
continual electronic damper adjustment at each wheel allow for
spirited cornering or comfortable touring drives.

Compound brakes with integrated braking system offer significant
stopping power through the fusion of brake activation, brake booster
and braking control functions within a single compact module. The
electronic actuator regulates brake pressure to suit the driving
environment and maintains superb pedal feel.

New Zealand pricing and specification detail will be released closer
to the launch date.

Munich. From November the third generation of the BMW
X6 will enrich the segment of Sports Activity Coupés (SAC) with its
extroverted looks, outstanding performance and provocative design.
Only a few months later, the new BMW X5 M and the new BMW X6 M will
set new standards in the high performance SAV/SAC segment from spring
2020. Powered by potent 4.4 litre V8 petrol engines with BMW M
TwinPower Turbo Technology and 441 kW/600 hp and 460 kW/625 hp in the
respective Competition variants, the new M models stand for thrilling
driving dynamics. A wide range of M Performance Parts for enhancing
the sporty character and customising the visual appeal even further
will be available for this trio of luxurious power models as well as
for the BMW X7.

These high-grade accessories developed by BMW M GmbH, are the result
of extensive motorsport expertise gained on the world’s racetracks.
All components are perfectly matched to the specific characters of the
BMW X6, BMW X7 as well as BMW X6 M and BMW X5 M. With these parts
customers can further enhance the visual appeal and sporty
characteristics of their car and customise it according to their
personal tastes. The M Performance Parts do not only affect the car’s
looks of course. They also meet the highest functional requirements
with regard to lightweight construction and aerodynamics.

Exterior: Carbon fibre for striking looks and improved aerodynamics.

The athletic character of the BMW X6 and X6 M as well as BMW X5 M can
be impressively enhanced with a large number of M Performance Exterior
Carbon Fibre components. Manufactured by hand and sealed with a clear
finish, the components are given a high-gloss polish for an impressive
depth effect. The honeycomb structure, which is so characteristic for
this material, makes these carbon-fibre reinforced plastic components
so thrilling to look at. The carbon fibre M Performance ornamental
grille for the radiator grille and the carbon fibre M Performance side
sill inserts as well as the carbon fibre rear diffuser, which will be
available shortly afterwards, give the car purebred racing flair. The
diffuser also optimises the air stream at the rear of the car together
with the M Performance high-gloss black rear fins and the M
Performance high-gloss black roof edge spoiler for the BMW X5 M. These
parts also positively affect directional stability and
straight-running capability.

M Performance Frozen Black Wrapping is another visual highlight for
the BMW X6. This consists of a matt black and grey strip with M
Performance inscription, which stretches along the side of the car and
effectively emphasises the design features of the SAC. The perfectly
matching front high-gloss black wrapping upgrades the front of the BMW
X6 while the high-gloss black model inscription enhances the rear
looks of the BMW X7. The M Performance carbon fibre exterior mirror
caps add another stylish and sporty touch to the striking looks of the
BMW X7.

Sports brake system and wheel sets for improved handling.

The M Performance brake system installed in the BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M
as standard is optionally available for the BMW X6. Thanks to its
larger, inner-vented and perforated lightweight construction brake
discs, it offers further improved braking response, optimised
deceleration even under extreme conditions as well as maximum
resilience. The brake calipers finished in red are also a visual
highlight which stand out especially in combination with open wheel
designs, For all four models a number of these are available in sizes
ranging up to 22 inches for summer wheel sets and up to 21 inches for
winter wheel sets.

The 22 inch M Performance light alloy wheel Star Spoke Styling 749 M,
available in either burnished Jet Black and matt black for the BMW X6
for example, combines physical lightness with extraordinary design and
sporty performance. Thanks to a special manufacturing process, the
wheel weighs approximately one kilogram less than a comparable cast
wheel. This optimises steering behaviour and improves driving dynamics
overall. The weight-optimised 22 inch M Performance matt/burnished Jet
Black forged wheel Y-Spoke Styling 785 M for the BMW X7 in extravagant
bicolor look also emphasises the luxurious character of the vehicle.
The M Performance light alloy wheel Double Spoke Styling 809 M with
mixed tyres (front: 295/35 ZR21 107Y XL; rear: 315/30 ZR22 107Y XL)
for BMW X5 M, BMW X6 M and its Competition models in matt Jet Black
with colour M Performance print on the other hand radiate unfiltered
motorsport ambience.

High performance atmosphere in the luxurious interior.

The already striking motorsport character of the BMW X5 M and BMW X6
M and the respective Competition models can be enhanced even further.
With the M Performance steering wheel the driver has a perfect grip on
the action even under dynamic driving conditions. This is due to the
extremely high-grip alcantara handling area with large thumbrests and
special underlining for excellent stability and a direct steering
feel. In addition to standard details such as the red centre marking
and the silver-grey, hand-sewn cross-stitch, the M Performance
steering wheel is also available with M Performance steering wheel
trim in carbon fibre with M Performance inscription and alcantara
insert. To match this, the shift paddles can also be selected in an
M Performance finish featuring carbon fabric instead of the standard
chrome surface. For example there are the M Performance floor mats
with M Performance inscription, a pennant in the hallmark M colours
and a surround in leather look including decorative seam in
contrasting colours. A very stylish motorsport-inspired extra for the
BMW X6 and BMW X7, which is standard in the BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M, are
the optionally available set of stainless steel pedal rests and the
stainless steel footrest.

Experience the M Performance spirit even when the car is stationary.

The four BMW X models radiate the thrill of motorsport and of M
Performance in particular even at a standstill. For example the M
Performance slide set for the BMW LED door projectors is a very
eye-catching option. When the doors are opened, it projects the BMW M
logo or other M Performance motifs onto the asphalt. The M Performance
key holder made of high-quality alcantara with carbon fibre insert
makes the look and feel of the the M performance idea come alive.
Thanks to internal hex screw in M Light Blue, the car key is firmly
connected to the holder and therefore effectively protected from being
scratched or damaged. The M Performance tyre bags made of high-quality
and resilient plastic protect wheels sized up to 22 inches. They not
only make storing and transporting the wheels a clean and safe affair,
but also bring a racing feel to your garage thanks to their
distinctive M Performance design. And each bag is clearly marked so
allocating tyres is easy.

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.

BMW X5 M: fuel consumption combined: 13.0-12.8 l/100 km; combined CO2
