<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>Two new ultra high-performance mid-size Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV)
  / Sports Activity Coupé (SAC) models from BMW, the X3 M Competition
  and X4 M Competition, will storm into New Zealand at the end of 2021.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The new BMW X3 M Competition and X4 M Competition will feature a raft
  of updates, exciting new colours and upgraded interior equipment.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Powerful design built on updated BMW X3 and X4</strong></p>
<p>
  <br />The new BMW X3 M Competition and X4 M Competition models build
  on the modern design of the updated BMW X3 and X4, but feature more
  powerful design elements that emphasis their ultra-high performance nature.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Four new colours - Carbon Black metallic, Marina Bay Blue metallic,
  Brooklyn Grey and Sao Paulo Yellow add to a large palette of
  attractive exterior colours for the new models. For the first time,
  BMW Individual paint finishes such as ‘Frozen’ matte options are also
  available on request. </p>
<p> </p>
<p>An M-specific three-dimensional front apron design with additional
  painted surfaces offers high-contrast sportiness on both models,
  alongside a larger M double-bar kidney grille in a single-piece frame
  finished in high-gloss black.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>New BMW Laserlights are designed ten millimetres narrower, with new
  daytime running light graphics that differentiate the new character of
  the models.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>At the rear, the new BMW X3 M Competition gets more linear bumpers in
  high-gloss black, a new deeper rear diffuser and redesigned,
  three-dimensional taillights.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The rear of the BMW X4 M Competition is defined by vertically
  arranged reflectors and a wide apron with an anvil-shaped insert in
  high-gloss black, giving the vehicle a more low-slung stance and
  visually enhancing its width.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The BMW X3 M Competition and X4 M Competition both feature
  recognisable M-specific differentiation such as an M Sport exhaust
  system with quad tailpipes finished in black chrome, as well as forged
  21-inch M light alloy wheels that reduce unsprung weight at each
  corner by two kilograms.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>High-revving engine from motor racing expertise</strong></p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>The in-line 6-cylinder engine in the BMW X3 M Competition and X4 M
  Competition now features a forged lightweight crankshaft from the
  engine of the BMW M3 and M4 Competition.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Coupled with an extremely torsion-resistant design, the new
  crankshaft enables particularly high torque and 50 Nm more torque over
  its predecessors, while still maintaining the high-revving
  characteristics of a racing engine.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>In addition to responsive revving and high power, the engine is also
  supremely versatile, and manages to maintain peak torque of 650 Nm
  between 2,750 and 5,500 rpm. Maximum output of 375 kW is achieved at
  6,250 rpm, and is sustained all the way to the redline at 7,200 rpm.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>This enhanced engine performance is effectively transferred to the
  road via an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission and an intelligent BMW M
  xDrive all-wheel drive system – enabling lightning straight line
  performance. The 0-100km/h sprint is completed by both cars in just
  3.8 seconds.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The electronically controlled M xDrive – which is networked with the
  car’s DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) system – is calibrated to retain
  BMW’s hallmark rear-drive characteristics, only sending power to
  the front axle when the rear wheels reach the limits of grip.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>Superior driving dynamics in hallmark M style</strong></p>
<p>
  <br />The BMW X3 M Competition and the BMW X4 M Competition provide an
  exceptional level of driving dynamics.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Standard Adaptive M suspension with specific springs and new
  electronically controlled dampers provided an expanded level of
  adjustment, so that both cars provide a high level of comfort for
  everyday driving, but extremely direct road contact when desired.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>An M-specific strut package reduces body roll and movement, while the
  electromechanical M Servotronic steering and DSC (Dynamic Stability
  Control) are specifically calibrated to deliver a typical M driving experience.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>In M Dynamic Mode, the M Sport differential equipped as standard
  allows additional wheel slip to generate oversteer qualities typical
  of M, enabling controlled drift manoeuvres when used on the race
  track, for example.</p>
<p>
  <br />The performance characteristics of the BMW X3 M Competition and
  the BMW X4 M Competition are further complemented by efficient
  stopping power from the standard M compound brake system, finished in
  blue as standard or in high-gloss black or red on request.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>At the touch of the ‘M Setup’ button on the centre control island,
  the driver can optimise specific elements of the vehicle’s chassis and
  powertrain, selecting optimum response levels for the engine and
  gearbox, steering and suspension damping characteristics, as well as
  brake responsiveness.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>M typical interior with new accents</strong></p>
<p>
  <br />The BMW X3 M Competition and the BMW X4 M Competition carry over
  the design of the interior from the updated X3 and X4, including new
  island control designs and a larger 12.3-inch infotainment screen.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Unique to the mid-size M SUV/SAV siblings are M sports seats with an
  illuminated M logo as standard. Merino leather upholstery in four
  colour combinations are available as standard, with BMW Individual
  extended Merino leather upholstery in Tartufo also available on request.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Interior trims are finished in dark Rhombicle aluminium as standard,
  with a new open-pore ash variant available as an option.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The M leather steering wheel with multifunction also comes as
  standard, featuring contrast stitching in BMW M colours and an open
  6 o'clock spoke.</p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>
  <strong>BMW Live Cockpit Professional with integrated digital ecosystem</strong>
  <br />
  <br /></p>
<p>The new BMW X3 M Competition and X4 M Competition come equipped with
  BMW Live Cockpit Professional, as standard with additional features
  specific to M models integrated within the digital instrumentation
  display system.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Digital M modes can be easily selected via the centre control island
  by selecting the ‘M mode’ button, while specific head-up display
  graphics provide an especially sporty driving experience, along with
  key driving information such as navigation, media and speed limit
  recognition data in the driver’s line of sight.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Innovative digital services based on BMW Operating System 7 bring
  features such as Remote Software Upgrade, BMW Intelligent Personal
  Assistant, and Driving Assistant Professional – enabling a highly
  integrated digital ecosystem of entertainment and assistance to the driver.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity is also offered
  on both cars, bringing native Apps from both operating systems
  straight onto the car’s information display.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Finally, a Harman Kardon surround sound system comes as standard for
  a superb audio experience.</p>
<p> </p>

  <li>New BMW X3 and X4 range pricing in New Zealand starting from $89,900*</li></ul>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>The new BMW X3 and X4 models will be introduced to the New Zealand
  market in Q4 this year, carrying a raft of updates and upgraded
  interior equipment.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The new and consolidated BMW X3 model range features four variants,
  with a fifth option available in the form of the highly-anticipated,
  all-electric iX3.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>This makes the BMW X3 the model with the most diverse range of
  powertrains, giving customers compelling options for all lifestyles
  and preferences, in line with BMW Group’s ‘Power of Choice’ product
  strategy. <br />
  <br />
  <strong>New modern design and sport-focused genes</strong></p>
<p>
  <br />The new BMW X3 now boasts an even more modern appearance that
  conveys a sporty and</p>
<p>powerful presence with design changes to the front and rear.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The front styling of the new BMW X3 is characterised by a redesigned
  BMW kidney grille, featuring headlights that are approximately 10
  millimetres narrower.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The BMW kidney grille is now more strikingly shaped, especially in
  the upper area, and now features a single piece frame.</p>
<p>
  <br />New Adaptive LED headlights with redesigned headlight graphics
  integrate matrix functions and intelligent adverse weather lights,
  doing away with the need for standalone foglights.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Ultra-long range BMW Laserlight systems with lighting capabilities of
  up to 650 metres are also optionally available.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The rear section of the new BMW X3 is made bolder and sportier as a
  result of various measures. <br />
  <br />A black border provides the full LED rear lights a more precise
  appearance, while the narrower light graphic now includes a
  three-dimensionally modelled pincer contour and horizontal turn
  signals integrated in a filigree style.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The emphasis on horizontal lines, including in the concave area at
  the lower end of the tailgate, contributes to the clean impression of
  the rear.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Finally, newly designed and painted underbody protection trims
  provide a high-contrast finish and combine with the new, larger and
  flush-fitting free-form tailpipe trims for a truly sporty appearance.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The M Sport package, which is fitted as standard to the X3 xDrive30e
  and optional on the sDrive20i and xDrive20d, emphasises the dynamic
  genes of BMW’s Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) concept even further.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Larger air intakes and a striking diffuser underline the prowess of
  the BMW SAV dynamic character. The window graphics, roof rails and BMW
  kidney bars are additionally finished in high-gloss black.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The new BMW X3 xDrive30e also bears minor bespoke touches to
  highlight its clean nature - an “electrified by i” emblem adorns the
  front wing, while an additional blue ring surrounds all its BMW logos,
  including those on the wheel hub covers. </p>
<p> </p>
<p>The range topping X3 M40i meanwhile enjoys even greater
  differentiation, with a distinct M double bar kidney grille design,
  bigger 21-inch wheels and a unique ‘Two Teeth’ tailpipe trim in black
  chrome to prominently confirm its roots in the BMW M high performance stable. </p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>
  <strong>Top-spec BMW X4 reserved for high performance M fans in New Zealand</strong></p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>The new BMW X4 adopts the new front end of the new BMW X3, but adds a
  unique curved roofline for a standalone character and appearance.  </p>
<p> </p>
<p>In New Zealand, only the top of the range M40i is available, offering
  high performance BMW M fans a triple dose of power, dynamism and practicality.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The X4 M40i comes standard with the M Sport package, featuring the M
  double bar kidney grille design and bigger 21-inch wheels. As with the
  side air curtain panels, the front apron is finished in high-gloss
  black and provides a bold high-contrast.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Full LED rear lights that emphasise the vehicle width protrude
  strikingly from the vehicle body with a three-dimensional design. A
  unique rear apron insert in the shape of an anvil frames the wide
  free-form tailpipe trims for a powerful overall appearance.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>Significantly revised interior for both models</strong></p>
<p>
  <br />The new BMW X3 and BMW X4 adopt the centre console from all-new
  BMW 4 Series, bringing a contemporary and sporty feel to their cabins.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The free-standing central Control Display with touch function now
  offers a screen diagonal of 12.3 inches and is fitted as standard in
  all vehicles.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The significantly improved standard equipment now also includes
  sports seats with covers from a new Sensatec generation – completely
  animal-free in origin.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The centre console on the new BMW X3 and X4 accommodates a newly
  designed control island with engine start button, gear selector lever,
  buttons for the start/stop system, electric parking brake, hill
  descent control and the BMW iDrive Controller.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>New electroplated trim elements on the air vents add a touch of
  elegance while emphasising the interior’s horizontal lines.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Additional functions are offered by Ambient Light, which is now
  standard across both model lines.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The system features contour lighting above the decorative trim in the
  dashboard and lighting animations that correspond to events such as
  telephone calls and locking or unlocking the vehicle. <br />
  <br /></p>
<p>
  <strong>The most diverse line-up of powertrains available on the new
    BMW X3</strong></p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>Three engine variants are available for the BMW X3 line-up in New
  Zealand, starting with a 135kW/300Nm 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo for the
  X3 sDrive20i and a 140kW/400Nm diesel for the X3 xDrive20d.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>A 215kW/420Nm (combined) plug-in hybrid powertrain is offered for the
  new BMW X3 xDrive30e. The plug-in hybrid SAV offers up to 46km of
  electric range on the WLTP cycle, ensuring that almost any daily work
  commute in New Zealand can be achieved emission-free.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The new BMW X3 xDrive30e features a 12kWh battery, and can be charged
  to 80% in as little as 2.5 hours using a BMW I Wallbox or compatible
  (Type 2) public AC charging station.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The intelligent plug-in hybrid plays to its strengths, depending on
  the driving situation. When charge is available, the car’s electric
  drivetrain is elected for moments it is most efficient at, for
  example, when moving off from standstill.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>In cruising situations on the motorway, when its petrol powertrain
  can be more efficient, the car seamlessly switches over. The electric
  motor also intelligently recuperates excess energy generated by the
  brakes or engine deceleration to increase its e-range.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>When required, the new BMW X3 xDrive30e can also enhance its total
  power output by intelligently utilising its electric motor.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The 135kW petrol powertrain can tap on the 80kW electric motor using
  a unique XtraBoost function for up to 10 seconds, making for a total
  temporary power output of 215kW.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The X3 M40i and X4 M40i both feature a powerful M TwinPower Turbo
  in-line six-cylinder engine producing an output of 285kW and 500Nm.
  This powerful engine enables ferocious acceleration, with both cars
  achieving the 0-100km/h sprint in just 4.8 seconds.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>8-speed Steptronic transmission and BMW xDrive feature in line-up</strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p>All engines are mated to eight-speed Steptronic gearboxes and
  specifically configured to their respective engine characteristics.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>BMW xDrive all-wheel drive makes a significant contribution to the
  versatile sporty flair of the BMW X3 and BMW X4.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Its precise electronic control ensures optimum power distribution,
  but retains BMW’s traditional rear-drive orientation to make dynamic
  cornering in particular a rewarding experience.</p>
<p>
  <br />In addition, BMW xDrive optimises both driving stability and
  traction over rough terrain.</p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>
  <strong>Driver assistance systems elevated for new models</strong></p>
<p>
  <br />In refreshing the BMW X3 and BMW X4, BMW has significantly
  expanded the range of modern driver assistance systems to enhance both
  comfort and safety.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>BMW’s new Intelligent Personal Assistant is standard across the
  range, enabling a wide scope of voice-activated commands.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Naturally spoken instructions can now be used to regulate the air
  conditioning, open and close the windows or change the driving
  experience modes.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>It can also access the new News app, which reads out the latest news
  to passengers and learn routines that increase comfort and driving pleasure.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>With BMW Live Cockpit Professional as standard and intelligent
  networking including digital services based on BMW Operating System 7,
  the BMW X3 and BMW X4 now offer particularly close interaction between
  driver and vehicle.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>BMW Live Cockpit Professional is supplemented by BMW Head-Up Display,
  which is also standard on all New Zealand-delivered BMW X3 and X4
  models.  <strong>
    <br />
    <br /></strong></p>
<p>BMW Live Cockpit Professional delivers optimised wireless smartphone
  integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The driver can view important information from the apps on the
  Control Display and – in intelligently processed form – in the
  instrument cluster and BMW Head-Up Display.</p>
<p>
  <br />With Android Auto™, BMW Group adds another customer-relevant
  service to its range of seamless in-vehicle connectivity, providing
  easy and safe use of smartphone functions such as music, media or
  messaging apps while driving.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Highlights of the interaction between Android Auto and BMW include
  convenient and wireless networking and the intelligent integration of
  Google Maps™ navigation instructions</p>
<p>in the BMW Head-up Display.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>In addition, the My BMW App provides a universal interface to the
  vehicle. It offers information on the state of the vehicle at all
  times and, depending on the options fitted, enables remote access
  functions such as vehicle location, locking and unlocking the doors or
  recording the vehicle’s surroundings (Remote 3D View).</p>
<p> </p>
<p>My BMW App also enables X3 xDrive30e owners to view e-mobility
  specific information such as current charge state of charging session details. </p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>Remote Software Upgrade updates “over-the-air”</strong></p>
<p>
  <br />Since 2018, with the introduction of BMW Operating System 7,
  drivers have been able to keep their vehicle constantly up to date
  with the latest software status using Remote Software Upgrade.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>On the BMW X3 and BMW X4, upgrades include new services and features
  that can be loaded over-the-air.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Furthermore, intelligent networking provides the option to integrate
  additional functions into the vehicle at a later date via BMW
  Connected Drive Store.</p>

<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>BMW M GmbH has just announced full model refreshes for its
  high-performance mid-size Sports Activity Vehicle and Sports Activity
  Coupé, with both models expected to arrive in New Zealand by Q4 2021.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The two new models will strengthen BMW’s high-performance M portfolio
  in New Zealand, where more than one in every four cars sold carries M
  or M Performance credentials.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Two years after initial market launch, the refreshed BMW X3 M
  Competition and X4 M Competition bring new design features drawn from
  the series X3 and X4, along with M specific changes and a new
  operating concept.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The new BMW X3 M Competition and X4 M Competition also offer
  increased pulling power. The most powerful BMW in-line 6-cylinder
  petrol engine with a peak output of 375 kW/510 hp – also found on the
  storming all-new BMW M3 Competition and M4 Competition – has a maximum
  torque which has been increased by 50 Nm to 650 Nm, enabling a
  0.3-second improvement in the time required for the standard sprint
  from 0 to 100 km/h to 3.8 seconds.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>This puts the performance of the BMW X3 M Competition and the BMW X4
  M Competition on a par with super sports cars. The top speed is
  electronically cut off at 250 km/h, but can be optionally raised to
  285 km/h in conjunction with the optional M Driver’s Package.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Prices and local equipment specifications will be announced soon.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>High-revving and with motor racing expertise.</strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p>The in-line 6-cylinder engine in the BMW X3 M Competition and BMW X4
  M Competition now features the forged lightweight crankshaft of the
  BMW M3 and M4 models. An extremely torsion-resistant design enables
  transmission of the particularly high torque, while low weight and
  reduced rotating masses contribute to more free-revving characteristics.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The in-line 6-cylinder engine’s racetrack-proven cooling system is
  designed to enable an exceptionally high level of output and includes
  two laterally positioned radiators in addition to the central one.
  There is also an additional engine oil cooler and a separate
  transmission oil cooler.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>BMW M GmbH has also designed a motorsports-inspired oil supply system
  for the two new cars, with two separate chambers and an integrated
  suction channel in a weight-optimised oil pan guaranteeing steady oil
  supply at all times, even during extreme longitudinal and lateral acceleration.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>M sports exhaust and 8-speed M Steptronic transmission.</strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p>The BMW X3 M Competition and BMW X4 M Competition come standard with
  the M Sports exhaust, emanating a sonorous sound under high engine
  speeds and loads to give the car the persona of motor racing machine.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>This creates a particularly emotional driving experience – while
  fully retaining day-to-day practicality. In addition, the infinitely
  variable flaps of the M sports exhaust system allow for a highly
  varied sound production, depending on desired aural outcome.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via an 8-speed M Steptronic
  transmission with Drivelogic. In addition to fully automatic gear
  changes, it also enables manual shifting with sequential selection of
  the drive position.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>A new M gear selector makes a debut in the refreshed BMW X3 M
  Competition and X4 M Competition. In manual mode, multiple downshifts
  can be made to the lowest possible gear to maximise engine braking
  capabilities. When accelerating, no forced upshift is triggered even
  when the engine is revved up.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>M xDrive all-wheel drive system with rear-wheel orientation.</strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p>The M xDrive all-wheel drive system further contributes to the high
  agility of the BMW X3 M Competition and BMW X4 M Competition,
  combining the traction benefits of all wheel drive with the signature
  driving feeling of classic rear-wheel drive BMWs.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The electronically controlled M xDrive – which is networked with the
  DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) system – only directs part of the
  drive torque to the front axle when the rear wheels reach the limits
  of their power transmission capabilities.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>At the touch of a button, the driver can influence not only how the
  driving stability control works but also the distribution of drive
  torque between the front and rear wheels.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The centrally controlled interaction of the M xDrive all-wheel drive
  system with the Active M Differential ensures loss-free transmission
  of engine power.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>Superior driving dynamics in hallmark M style.</strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p>The BMW X3 M Competition and X4 M Competition provide an exceptional
  level of driving dynamics potential.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Outstanding values in the areas of longitudinal and lateral
  acceleration, handling and deceleration go hand in hand with a high
  level of driving stability, neutral self-steering response and comfort
  characteristics that enhance suitability for day-today use and lengthy trips.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>M Adaptive Suspension, standard on the BMW X3 M Competition and X4 M
  Competition in New Zealand, are set-up specifically for each car;
  electronically controlled dampers ensure both a high level of
  day-to-day comfort and extremely direct road contact with minimised
  wheel and body movement.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Damping forces are ideally suited to cope with every situation on the
  road, and are set individually for each wheel at continuously varying
  levels by means of electromagnetically controlled valves within each damper.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Driving precision and response are further sharpened based on an
  extensive package of body and suspension reinforcements, for example
  an M specific strut package.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>A specifically-calibrated DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) system also
  contributes to a typical M driving experience. In M Dynamic Mode, this
  system allows additional wheel slip to generate the self-steering
  response that is typical of M, enabling controlled drift manoeuvres
  when used on the race track, for example.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>M compound brake system and 21-inch wheels as standard.</strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p>The performance characteristics of the BMW X3 M Competition and the
  BMW X4 M Competition are complemented by powerful M compound brakes.
  The brake calipers feature the M logo and are finished in blue as
  standard or in high-gloss black or red on request.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Wheel and tyre packages are geared for maximum performance, with
  21-inch wheels with mixed tyres in 255/40 ZR21 at the front and 265/40
  ZR21 at the rear. New M forged wheels in Style 892M Star Spoke Jet
  Black burnished contribute to a weight saving of 2 kilograms per
  wheel. Alternatively, the well-known M light alloy wheel 765M V-Spoke
  is also available in Jet Black burnished.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>Larger BMW kidney grille and a more striking front section.</strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p>The new BMW X3 M Competition and X4 M Competition have enlarged BMW
  kidney grilles in a one-piece frame and headlights narrowed by about
  ten millimetres, drawn from the likewise refreshed BMW X3 and BMW X4.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>An iCam is positioned in the centre piece of the one-piece frame,
  simultaneously providing visual separation of the BMW kidney grille.
  As with all M models, high-gloss black double kidney bars provide more
  aggression to the front compared to series models.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>In addition to the standard adaptive LED headlights with Matrix
  function, the BMW Laser Light with a range of up to 650 metres is now
  also available as an optional extra. BMW M GmbH has also designed the
  M specific front apron to be even more expressive on the new X3 M
  Competition and X4 M Competition.</p>
<p>One particularly striking feature is the new, vertically arranged and
  elongated side air intakes; these are angled down towards the spoiler
  lip in a bend towards the centre of the vehicle, where they follow the
  hexagonal shape of the central air intake.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>They are framed by trim elements in high-gloss black, which is also
  used for the caps of the aerodynamically optimised M exterior mirrors
  and the characteristic M gills integrated in the air breathers, as
  well as the rear spoiler only on the BMW X4 M Competition.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>Distinctive rear aprons in a new design and new paint finishes.</strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p>The BMW X3 M Competition has full-LED rear lights derived from the
  refreshed BMW X3 with a black surround and narrower illuminated
  graphics. The lower section of the rear apron is M specific and
  finished in high-gloss black.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Large diffusers on both the new BMW X3 M Competition and X4 M
  Competition are flanked on the right and left by the tailpipe pairs of
  the M sports exhaust system, which are finished in black chrome.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The new rear apron of the BMW X4 M Competition features a wide,
  offset insert in the shape of an anvil. Like the lateral
  air-curtain-panels, which also accommodate the now vertical
  reflectors, this is finished in high-gloss black, ensuring a
  particularly powerful overall impression.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>In addition to M Carbon Black metallic and M Brooklyn Grey metallic,
  there are two new paint finishes reserved exclusively for the M
  Competition models – M Marina Bay Blue metallic and M Sao Paulo Yellow.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>In addition, a wide range of BMW Individual paint finishes are
  available for the first time such as the matt finish Frozen Marina Bay
  Blue metallic.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>M typical interior with new accents.</strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p>The BMW X3 M Competition and the BMW X4 M Competition feature M
  sports seats with electrically adjustable headrests and illuminated M
  logo as standard.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>In addition to the extended Merino leather upholstery in four colour
  combinations, the BMW Individual extended Merino leather upholstery in
  Tartufo is also available as an option. The air vents have new
  galvanised trim, the interior trims are now finished in dark Rhombicle
  aluminium as standard, and a new open pore ash variant is available as
  an option.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The M leather steering wheel with multifunction features contrast
  stitching in the BMW M colours and an open 6 o'clock spoke.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>New control island from the current BMW M3 and M4 models.</strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p>Originating from the current BMW M3 and M4 models, the newly designed
  control island on the centre console includes two new buttons in
  addition to the specific M gear selector with Drivelogic rocker
  switch, the BMW Controller and the red engine start button, which is
  now positioned here.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The set-up button provides direct access to all settings options for
  the engine and suspension: it is used to access a menu in the Control
  Display that lists the current vehicle settings. Two individually
  configured variants of the M set-up can be permanently stored and
  retrieved at any time using the two M buttons on the steering wheel.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The M Mode button can be used to influence the activities of the
  driver assistance systems as well as the displays in the instrument
  cluster and in the Head-Up Display at the touch of a button, thereby
  enabling a driving experience to be created that is appropriate to the
  situation and typical of M in each case.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>BMW Live Cockpit Professional with intelligent networking.</strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p>The new BMW X3 M Competition and the new BMW X4 M Competition come
  equipped with BMW Live Cockpit Professional including Connected Drive
  as standard.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Intelligent networking including innovative digital services based on
  BMW Operating System 7 – such as BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant,
  Connected Music and Remote Software Upgrade – enable particularly
  intense interaction between driver and vehicle.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Intuitive multi-modal operation has been further optimised: depending
  on the situation, the driver has a choice between touch operation on
  the Control Display, the tried-and-tested BMW Controller, the
  multifunction buttons on the steering wheel and voice control.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>A Harman Kardon surround sound system now comes as standard for a
  superb audio experience. BMW Live Cockpit Professional offers a fully
  digital display network: the high-resolution instrument cluster behind
  the steering wheel and the Control Display each have a screen diagonal
  of 12.3 inches.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The fully digital instrument display offers, among other things, the
  M View with specific displays adopted from the BMW M8 models. M
  specific display content is also available with the optional BMW
  Head-Up Display.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The cloud-based navigation system BMW Maps offers particularly fast
  and precise calculation of routes and arrival times, real-time traffic
  data updates at short intervals and free text input for selecting
  navigation destinations.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>Smartphone integration and BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.</strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p>Another standard feature is optimised smartphone integration. Android
  Auto can now also be used with the vehicle’s operating system in
  addition to Apple CarPlay.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Here, the driver can view all the important information from the apps
  on the Control Display and also – in intelligently processed form – in
  the instrument cluster and the optional Head-Up Display.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The capabilities of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant are being
  expanded on an ongoing basis. With the digital companion, naturally
  spoken instructions can now be used to regulate the air conditioning,
  open and close the windows or change the driving experience switch
  modes, for instance.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>It can also access the new News app, which reads out the latest news
  to passengers, and learn routines that increase comfort and driving
  pleasure in certain situations.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>Remote Software Upgrade and BMW Drive Recorder.</strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p>BMW Operating System 7 now also includes Remote Software Upgrade.
  This means that the BMW X3 M Competition and the BMW X4 M Competition
  always remain up to date with the latest software.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The upgrades can include different content from new services to
  improved vehicle features and can be loaded "over-the-air".
  It is also possible to integrate additional vehicle functions in the
  vehicle at a later date, such as the new BMW Drive Recorder, which
  records video images around the vehicle.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>Driving Assistant Professional available for the first time.</strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p>The BMW X3 M Competition and the BMW X4 M Competition come with all
  the modern driver assistance systems of the BMW X3 and BMW X4. In
  addition to the Driving Assistant, the Driving Assistant Professional
  is available as an option for the first time.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>It includes Active Cruise Control with improved functionality in the
  city, intersection warning with additional city braking function,
  emergency lane assistant and the improved steering/lane guidance assistant.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The 3D environment visualisation in the instrument cluster provides
  an overview of which Driving Assistant Professional assistance systems
  are activated and what functions they offer.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The optional Parking Assistant Plus now also includes the reverse
  assistant, which helps retrace a completed line in reverse. Parking
  Assistant Plus uses Park View, Panorama View and 3D Top View to create
  a 360-degree image of the vehicle and its surroundings from various perspectives.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Meanwhile, the driver can have a three-dimensional live image of
  their vehicle and its surroundings transmitted to their smartphone by
  means of Remote 3D View.</p>

  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>BMW New Zealand refreshes its electrified portfolio with the launch
  of the new X3 xDrive30e PHEV at the end of this year, alongside a
  model update for the entire X3 and X4 range.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The new model is set to continue BMW New Zealand’s strong pace with
  electrified offerings, achieving one of the highest sales and growth
  rates in New Zealand this year.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The X3 xDrive30e combines a four-cylinder petrol engine and electric
  motor, transmitting power to all four wheels. It develops combined
  output of 215kW, which can be increased by up to 30kW by temporary use
  of the electric motor’s peak output.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Its advanced lithium-ion high-voltage battery enables fully electric,
  emissions-free driving range of up to 50 kilometres. </p>
<p> </p>
<p>The new PHEV model headlines the refreshed BMW X3 line-up, which,
  alongside the similarly updated X4 range, will arrive in New Zealand
  for customer deliveries in Q4 2021. <br />
  <br />
  <strong>BMW X3 with classic X elements and sporty genes</strong></p>
<p>
  <br />The new BMW X3 now boasts a modernised appearance that conveys a
  more powerful presence with design changes to the front and rear.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Redesigned elements include the BMW kidney grille, headlights, front
  apron and rear bumper, while new graphics have been applied to the
  rear lights.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The M Sport package, which is fitted to the X3 xDrive30i and X3
  xDrive30d as standard, emphasises the dynamic genes of BMW’s Sports
  Activity Vehicle (SAV) concept. The range topping X3 M40i meanwhile
  prominently displays its strong links with high performance BMW M stable. </p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>New BMW kidney grille and narrower headlights</strong></p>
<p>
  <br />The front styling of the new BMW X3 is characterised by a
  redesigned BMW kidney grille, headlights that are approximately 10
  millimetres narrower, and a new front apron.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The BMW kidney grille is now more strikingly shaped, especially in
  the upper area, and now features a single piece frame.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The front headlights feature full LED technology as standard to
  provide powerful lighting performance in low light conditions. <br />
  <br />In addition to the optional adaptive LED headlights with Matrix
  function, where the adverse weather light takes on the function of the
  previously separate fog lights, the BMW Laser</p>
<p>Light system with a range of up to 650 metres is now also available
  as an optional extra.</p>
<p>
  <strong>
    <br />Redesigned front apron and rear apron </strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p>Below the headlights, vertical air intakes arranged in a triangular
  interpretation frame the front bumper.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Taut and amply sized surfaces in body colour and the robust underbody
  protection reinforce the X3’s commanding road presence.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The BMW X3 xDrive30e also bears an “electrified by i” emblem on the
  front wing, while an additional blue ring adorns all its BMW logos,
  including those on the wheel hub covers. </p>
<p> </p>
<p>The rear section of the new BMW X3 offers greater clarity as a result
  of various measures. <br />
  <br />A black border provides the full LED rear lights a more precise
  appearance, while the narrower light graphic now includes a
  three-dimensionally modelled pincer contour and horizontal turn
  signals integrated in a filigree style.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The emphasis on horizontal lines, including in the concave area at
  the lower end of the tailgate, contributes to the clean impression of
  the rear.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The newly designed and painted underbody protection provides a
  prominent finish and combines with the new, flush-fitting free-form
  tailpipe trims that are larger and sportier in appearance. <strong>
    <br />
    <br /></strong></p>
<p>
  <strong>M Sport package with specific exterior details</strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p>The M Sport package provides the BMW X3 an even more dynamic
  orientation. The specific front apron features significantly larger
  air inlets and inserts finished in high-gloss black, as well as more
  pronounced air curtains.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The window graphics, roof rails and BMW kidney frame and bars are
  also optionally available in high-gloss black. The rear bumper
  includes a more striking diffuser finished in Dark Shadow along with
  two additional side air-curtain-panels in high-gloss black.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The standard trim includes the new 19-inch Y-Spoke 887M alloy wheel
  in Midnight Grey Bicolor with 245/50 R19 tyres.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Additional wheels in 20 inch and 21 inch are available as an option,
  as well as the M Sport brake system with blue or red brake callipers.</p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>
  <strong>Further hints of BMW M in X3 M40i</strong></p>
<p>
  <br />Further visual differentiation is offered by the BMW X3 M40i,
  which shows its affiliation with the BMW M portfolio via a specific
  BMW M kidney.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>In addition to a chrome frame, the grille bears the typical M double
  grille bars in high-gloss black and with an M logo.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>While the same aprons as the M Sport package can found at the front
  and rear, the aerodynamically optimised M exterior mirrors in
  high-gloss black, the free-form tailpipe trims in black chrome and the
  striking “Two Teeth” design ensure a distinctive look.</p>
<p>The BMW X3 M40i is fitted as standard with 21-inch M light alloy
  wheels double-spoke 699M in Orbit Grey with 245/45 R20 tyres at the
  front and 275/40 R20 at the rear.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>As an optional extra, these wheels are available in Jet Black, while
  other exclusive options include the 21-inch M light alloy wheels
  double spoke 718M in a Jet Black burnished finish.</p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>
  <strong>New BMW X4 characterised by exclusive mesh kidney grille </strong></p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>The BMW X4 adopts the new front end of the BMW X3 but adds an
  exclusive distinguishing feature in the form of the mesh kidney.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>LED headlights are fitted standard, while adaptive versions of those
  units are available as an option. BMW Laser Light can also be optioned
  for the new BMW X4.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The rear design now has an even more clear-cut shape with flat, full
  LED rear lights that emphasise the vehicle width and protrude
  strikingly from the vehicle body with a three-dimensional design.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The new rear apron has a tidier appearance, with an increased
  proportion of painted surface and reflectors now placed vertically and
  lower in the bumper.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The wide free-form tailpipe trims echo the horizontal lines of the
  upper section.</p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>
  <strong>M Sport package with striking rear apron on BMW X4</strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p>The M Sport package, which is standard on X4 xDrive20i and X4
  xDrive30i, features the BMW mesh kidney – the frame and inserts of
  which are painted in high-gloss black – as well as a new rear apron
  with a wide, offset insert in the shape of an anvil.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>As with the side air curtain panels, the apron is finished in
  high-gloss black and provides a powerful overall impression. The M
  Sport package includes the new 19-inch alloy wheel Y Spoke 887M in
  Midnight Grey Bicolor with 245/50 R19 tyres as standard.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Additional 20-inch and 21-inch wheels and the M Sport brake system
  are available as options.</p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>
  <strong>BMW M insignia for X4 M40i </strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p>The BMW X4 M40i is based on the appearance and standard equipment of
  the corresponding X3.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>As with that variant, it bears typical BMW M insignia such as the
  specific BMW M kidney with chrome frame, double kidney bars in
  high-gloss black with M logo and the aerodynamically optimised M
  exterior mirrors in high-gloss black.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The rear apron with its anvil shaped insert is complemented by an air
  curtain trimmed in high-gloss black.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Free-form tailpipe trims in black chrome with the “Two Teeth"
  complete the reinvigorated X4 rear end styling detail.</p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>
  <strong>Eleven paint finishes for the BMW X3 and one exclusively for
    BMW X4<br />
    <br /></strong></p>
<p>BMW offers a total of 11 paint finishes in the regular range.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The metallic paint finish Skyscraper Grey (from 12/21) is new, as is
  M Brooklyn Grey metallic from the M Sport package upwards, along with
  the two BMW Individual paint</p>
<p>finishes Aventurine Red and Tanzanite Blue.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The new metallic finish, Piedmont Red, is available exclusively for
  the BMW X4.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>For the first time there is also a choice of numerous special BMW
  Individual paint finishes</p>
<p>for the two models, including matt finishes such as Frozen Deep Grey.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>Significantly revised interior for both models</strong></p>
<p>
  <br />The new BMW X3 and BMW X4 adopt the centre console from current
  BMW 4 Series, bringing a contemporary and sporty feel to their cabins.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The free-standing, central Control Display with touch function now
  offers a screen diagonal of 10.25 inches as standard in all vehicles.
  A 12.3-inch version of the touch display</p>
<p>is also available as an option.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The significantly improved standard equipment now also includes
  sports seats with covers from a new Sensatec generation in the new Ray
  grain and with perforated main seat surfaces, as well as automatic
  climate control with 3-zone control.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>In order to make the vehicle configuration process clearer and more
  straightforward for customers, the complexity of the equipment lines
  and optional extras has deliberately been reduced by 30 per cent.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>In addition to the cupholder and a model-specific emblem, the centre
  console accommodates the newly designed control island with engine
  start button, gear selector lever, buttons for the start/stop system,
  electric parking brake, hill descent control and the BMW iDrive Controller.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>New electroplated trim elements on the air vents add a touch of
  elegance while emphasising the interior’s horizontal lines.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Additional functions are offered by the optional Ambient Light, which
  features contour lighting above the decorative trim in the dashboard
  and lighting that shines gently</p>
<p>downwards below the accent trim to create both a premium and relaxing
  interior atmosphere.<br />
  <br /></p>
<p>

<p>BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive makes a significant contribution to the
  versatile sporty flair of the BMW X3 and BMW X4.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Its precise electronic control ensures optimum power distribution,
  with its rear-wheel orientation making dynamic cornering in particular
  a rewarding experience.</p>
<p>In addition, BMW xDrive optimises both driving stability and traction
  over rough terrain.</p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>

  helps retrace a completed line in reverse. Another new feature in the

<p> </p>
<p>In addition, the My BMW App provides a universal interface to the

    <strong>BMW X3 xDrive30e PHEV pricing*</strong></p>
  <p>BMW X3 xDrive30e PHEV  $107,700*</p>
  <p>BMW Group New Zealand will further expand its portfolio of
    progressive electrified models, introducing the first ever BMW X3
    xDrive30e plug-in hybrid (PHEV) to the market in Q2, 2020.</p>
  <p>The BMW X3 xDrive30e PHEV will become the seventh electrified
    vehicle available in the New Zealand line-up and follows the recent
    arrival of the new BMW 330e and X5 xDrive45e PHEV models, both of
    which offer significantly improved performance and electric range
    over their predecessors.</p>
  <p>BMW New Zealand also offers the i3 Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV)
    as part of a targeted strategy to offer a diverse portfolio of
    luxury vehicles with the widest variety of powertrains.</p>
  <p>The all new X3 xDrive30e from the ultra-successful X3 line-up
    brings together intelligent all-wheel-drive, BMW xDrive and
    cutting-edge BMW eDrive technology in a package that delivers both
    driver appeal and exceptional efficiency.</p>
  <p>An advanced high voltage lithium-ion battery cell enables the X3
    xDrive30e to deliver emissions free purely electric mobility with a
    range of up to 55km.</p>
  <p>Its four-cylinder combustion engine and electric motor also provide
    dynamic performance off the line with a standard sprint time of 6.1 seconds.</p>
  <p>The X3 xDrive 30e achieves this while delivering combined fuel
    consumption figures of between 2.4 and 2.1 litres per 100km. CO2
    emissions meanwhile amount to 54 to 49 grams per kilometre*.<a name="_Hlk33103910"></a></p>
  <p>BMW Group New Zealand Managing Director, Karol Abrasowicz-Madej
    said arrival of the X3 xDrive30e highlights BMW Group New Zealand’s
    commitment to increasing its sustainability-focused product offering.</p>
  <p>“BMW Group has the largest range of electrified vehicles in New
    Zealand and we plan to maintain this position by continuing to
    introduce new PHEV or EV models, such as the brilliant X3 xDrive30e,”</p>
  <p>“We like to give our customers the opportunity to select a vehicle
    fit for them, giving them the power of choice, whether it’s diesel,
    petrol, fully electric or in this case, plug-in hybrid. The advanced
    BMW PHEV system in the X3 xDrive30e is ideal for those who want to
    take the first step towards and electric future,” Abrasowicz-Madej said.</p></div>
<div>
  <h2>Response, agility and efficiency: the X3 xDrive 30e power system</h2>
  <p>The plug-in hybrid model of the X3 range is characterised by agile
    handling and sporty driving characteristics, a versatile interior,
    premium quality and advanced connectivity.</p>
  <p>Its BMW xDrive system permanently distributes the drive torque
    between the front and rear wheels as required – even when driving
    purely on electric power – to ensure sporty driving characteristics
    on the road and superior off-road performance over unsurfaced terrain.</p>
  <p>Drive power is generated by a 2.0-litre 135kW four-cylinder petrol
    engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology and an electric motor
    integrated into the 8-speed Steptronic transmission with an output
    of 80kW.</p>
  <p>Together the two drive units develop a system output of 215kW and
    420Nm. Depending on the operating mode and the situation, the
    electric motor of the new BMW X3 xDrive30e can be used either for
    purely electric mobility or to support the combustion engine.</p>
  <p>In max eDrive mode, which can be activated via the eDrive button on
    the centre console, the new BMW X3 xDrive30e achieves a top speed of
    135 km/h with a locally emissions-free and virtually silent drive unit.</p>
  <p>In the standard Auto eDrive setting, purely electric driving is
    possible at speeds of up to 110 km/h.</p>
  <p>The combustion engine only switches on at higher speeds or when
    there are particularly high load requirements. When both drive units
    are active, the efficiency of the new BMW X3 xDrive30e is optimised,
    as is its sprint capacity.</p>
  <p>When accelerating, the spontaneous power development of the
    electric motor is clearly evident, while at constant speeds its
    electric assist reduces fuel consumption and emissions.</p>
  <p>Support of the electric motor ensures that the combustion engine
    can run within an efficiency-optimised load range as often as
    possible. The available BATTERY CONTROL setting serves to keep the
    charge state of the high-voltage battery at a level determined by
    the driver.</p>
  <p>In this way, the power supply can be specifically reserved and used
    for local emissions-free driving on urban stretches of road during a
    lengthier trip.</p>
  <h2>Latest battery cell technology enhances range, versatility</h2>
  <p>The lithium-ion battery of the new BMW X3 xDrive30e is located in a
    space-saving position underneath the rear seat, while the fuel tank
    is positioned above the rear axle.</p>
  <p>At 450 litres, the luggage compartment volume of the new BMW X3
    xDrive30e is slightly less than models powered by a conventional
    engine (550 litres).</p>
  <p>By folding down the rear seat with 40:20:40 split, the storage
    space can be extended to up to 1,500 litres. Thanks to cutting-edge
    battery cell technology and a gross energy content of 12.0kWh, the
    high-voltage battery contributes both to the outstanding efficiency
    and the excellent electrical range of the new BMW X3 xDrive30e.</p>
  <p>As a result, the plug-in hybrid model can be used for a day-to-day
    travel without locally produced emissions – even beyond the city.</p></div>
<p>The high-voltage battery can be charged at conventional household
  sockets using the standard-equipment charging cable. In this way, the
  battery can be fully charged in less than six hours. At a BMW i
  Wallbox, the same charging process can be completed in around three
  and a half hours.</p>
<p>The charging socket is located under a separate flap on the front
  left side wall of the car. The electrical energy stored in the
  high-voltage battery is also used to supply the 12-volt vehicle
  electrical system.</p>
<p>
  <strong>Acoustic pedestrian detection among advanced features</strong></p>
<p>Among the advanced features included as standard specification is
  acoustic pedestrian protection.</p>
<p>When driving electrically at low speeds, a sound designed
  specifically for electrified BMW models is generated to alert other
  road users to the approaching car without impairing the acoustic
  comfort of the vehicle occupants. In addition, the new BMW X3
  xDrive30e is equipped with an auxiliary air conditioning system as standard.</p>
<p>It can also be controlled remotely from a smartphone using the BMW
  Connected App. The driver can therefore enjoy a warm vehicle in winter
  and a cool vehicle in summer.</p>
<p>New digital services help make it more attractive and convenient to
  charge the high-voltage battery when out and about. The digital
  services support the driver in searching for and selecting public
  charging stations, enable the charging process to be controlled via
  remote functions and transmit information relating to charge status,
  electrical and combined range and individual energy consumption to the
  driver’s smartphone or other personal devices.</p>
<p>Launch of the new BMW X3 xDrive30e further underlines the BMW Group
  strategy of consistently pursuing not only the electrification of its
  drive portfolio but also a product strategy geared towards the diverse
  needs of its customers.</p>

<p>
<strong>Munich.</strong> The unique combination of intelligent
  all-wheel drive BMW xDrive and cutting-edge BMW eDrive technology
  makes for sustainable driving pleasure in another BMW model. The new
  BMW X3 xDrive30e is already the third Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) in
  the brand's current model range to feature a plug-in hybrid drive and
  power transmission to all four wheels, offering exciting versatility
  and a purely electric driving experience as well as outstandingly low
  fuel consumption and emissions. Together, the 4-cylinder combustion
  engine and the electric motor of the plug-in hybrid model generate a
  maximum system output of 215 kW/292 hp. The unique combination of the
  intelligent 4-wheel drive system BMW xDrive and state-of-the-art BMW
  eDrive technology reduces average fuel consumption to levels between
  2.4 and 2.1 litres per 100 kilometres*. The relevant CO2
  emissions amount to 54 to 49 grams per kilometre*. The combined power
  consumption of the new BMW X3 xDrive30e is between 17.2 and 16.4 kWh
  per 100 kilometres*. Its lithium-ion high-voltage battery equipped
  with the very latest battery cell technology enables purely electric
  mobility with a range of 51 to 55 kilometres*.</p>
<p>The new BMW X3 xDrive30e will be produced from December 2019 onwards
  at the BMW plant in Spartanburg, USA – alongside the conventionally
  powered model variants of the BMW X3. The worldwide market launch is
  due to start in spring 2020. In this way, the BMW Group is
  consistently pursuing not only the electrification of its drive
  portfolio but also a product strategy geared towards the diverse needs
  of its customers. The globally popular SAV model in the premium
  mid-range segment is the first model of the brand to be offered with
  both a conventional combustion engine and a plug-in hybrid system –
  with a purely electrically powered model variant due to be added
  during the course 2020.</p>
<h3>
<strong>Sports Activity Vehicle with agile handling, superior off-road
    performance and outstanding efficiency.</strong></h3>

<p>The new BMW X3 xDrive30e combines the typical qualities of a Sports
  Activity Vehicle with particularly efficient drive technology. The
  plug-in hybrid model is likewise characterised by agile handling and
  sporty driving characteristics, robust versatility, a versatile
  interior, premium quality and advanced connectivity. Its BMW xDrive
  system permanently distributes the drive torque between the front and
  rear wheels as required – even when driving purely on electric power –
  so as to ensure sporty driving characteristics on the road and
  superior off-road performance over unsurfaced terrain. The drive power
  is generated by a 2.0-litre, 135 kW/184 hp 4-cylinder petrol engine
  with BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology and an electric motor integrated
  into the 8-speed Steptronic transmission with an output of 80 kW/109
  hp. Together the two drive units mobilise a system output of 215
  kW/292 hp. The maximum system torque of the plug-in hybrid drive is
  420 Nm. This allows the new BMW X3 xDrive30e to accelerate from zero
  to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. Its top speed is 210 km/h.</p>
<p>Depending on the operating mode and the situation on the road, the
  electric motor of the new BMW X3 xDrive30e can be used either for
  purely electric mobility or to support the combustion engine. In MAX
  eDrive mode, which can be activated via the eDrive button on the
  centre console, the new BMW X3 xDrive30e achieves a top speed of 135
  km/h with a locally emissions-free and virtually silent drive unit. In
  the standard Auto eDrive setting, purely electric driving is possible
  at speeds of up to 110 km/h. The combustion engine only switches on at
  higher speeds or when there are particularly high load requirements.
  When both drive units are active, the efficiency of the new BMW X3
  xDrive30e is optimised, as is its sprint capacity. When accelerating,
  the spontaneous power development of the electric motor is clearly
  noticeable, while at constant speeds its electric assist reduces fuel
  consumption and emissions. The support of the electric motor ensures
  that the combustion engine can run within an efficiency-optimised load
  range as often as possible. The likewise available BATTERY CONTROL
  setting serves to keep the charge state of the high-voltage battery at

  specifically reserved and used for local emissions-free driving on
  urban stretches of road during a lengthier trip.</p>

  positioned above the rear axle. This means that the transport capacity
  of the plug-in hybrid model is only slightly restricted. At 450
  litres, the luggage compartment volume of the new BMW X3 xDrive30e is
  on a par with those models which have a conventional engine. By
  folding down the rear seat with 40 : 20: 40 split, the storage space
  can be extended to up to 1 500 litres. Thanks to cutting-edge battery
  cell technology and a gross energy content of 12.0 kWh, the
  high-voltage battery contributes both to the outstanding efficiency
  and the excellent electrical range of the new BMW X3 xDrive30e. As a
  result, the plug-in hybrid model can be used for a great deal of
  day-to-day travel without locally produced emissions – even beyond the city.</p>
<p>The high-voltage battery can be charged at conventional household
  sockets using the standard-equipment charging cable. In this way, the
  battery can be fully charged in less than six hours. At a BMW i
  Wallbox, the same charging process can be completed in around three
  and a half hours. The charging socket is located under a separate flap
  on the front left side wall of the car. The electrical energy stored
  in the high-voltage battery is also used to supply the 12-volt vehicle
  electrical system.</p>
<p><img src="https://content.presspage.com/uploads/3242/398b8934-6208-4d76-b946-9bbf2fade84c/P90374488_highRes_the-new-bmw-x3-xdriv.jpg"/></p>
<h3>
<strong>Electric licence plate and tax benefit thanks to the
    considerable electrical range.</strong></h3>
<p>Thanks to its high electrical range the new BMW X3 xDrive30e fulfils
  the criteria laid down in the German Electric Mobility Act – depending
  on fittings – for classification as an e-vehicle, complete with
  special rights on public roads. It is also subject to reduced company
  car taxation in Germany. Only half the gross list price is used as a
  basis when calculating the monetary benefit from private use of the
  company car.</p>
<p>As an alternative to the basic version, the new BMW X3 xDrive 30e
  also comes in the model variants Advantage, xLine, Luxury and M Sport.
  Its standard equipment includes acoustic pedestrian protection. When
  driving electrically at low speeds, an unmistakeable sound designed
  specifically for electrified BMW models is generated to alert other
  road users to the approaching car without impairing the acoustic
  comfort of the vehicle occupants. In addition, the new BMW X3
  xDrive30e is equipped with an auxiliary air conditioning system as
  standard. It can also be controlled remotely from a smartphone using
  the BMW Connected App: the driver can therefore get into a warm
  vehicle in winter and a pleasantly cool vehicle in summer. New digital
  services help make it more attractive and convenient to charge the
  high-voltage battery when out and about. The digital services support
  the driver in searching for and selecting public charging stations,
  enable the charging process to be controlled via remote functions and
  transmit information relating to charge status, electrical and
  combined range and individual energy consumption to the driver’s
  smartphone or other personal devices.</p>
<p>In addition, almost the entire range of optional equipment available
  for the conventionally powered versions of the BMW X3 is also
  available for the plug-in hybrid model – thereby increasing driving
  pleasure, comfort and individual style. This range includes an
  Adaptive Suspension, a Variable Sports Steering and a M Sport Brake
  System, the BMW Head-Up Display, Active Cruise Control with Stop &
  Go function, Driving Assistant Plus with steering and lane guidance
  assistant and also Parking Assistant Plus. Another feature included in
  this range of extras is a tow hitch that can be electrically swivelled
  out and in. The maximum towing capacity of the new BMW X3 xDrive30e is
  2,000 kilograms.</p><div class="co2emission"><div class="co2emission-headline">CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.</div><div class="co2emission-text"><p>

  <strong>Munich.</strong> The BMW Group is pushing ahead with its
  electrification strategy by extending the reach of its all-electric
  mobility offering to the company’s core brands. The BMW Concept iX3 –
  presented for the first time at the Auto China 2018 show in Beijing –
  offers a look ahead to the expansion of the model line-up in this
  area. The first model from the BMW brand to be driven purely by
  electric power will be a fully-fledged Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) –
  and without compromises when it comes to functionality and comfort.</p>
<p>The BMW Concept iX3 underscores the BMW Group’s resolve to further
  strengthen its leading position in the field of electric mobility. The
  expansion of the company’s range of vehicles offering locally
  emission-free mobility is one of the central spheres of activity
  defined by the Automated, Connected, Electrified and Services (ACES)
  technological fields, on which the company is driving forward the
  transformation of the mobility sector as part of its NUMBER ONE >
  NEXT strategy.</p>
<p>The expansion of locally emission-free mobility vehicles is one of
  the key areas of centralized action, alongside with automated driving,
  high-end connectivity and new digital services, which are driving the
  company’s transformation of the mobility industry as part of the
  NUMBER ONE> NEXT strategy. Under the generic term
  "iNext", and as an enabler for the entire BMW Group, the
  future-model-kit is now being developed, in which the BMW Concept iX3
  is playing a key role</p>
<p>____</p>
<p>Among the innovations showcased in the BMW Concept iX3 is the fifth
  generation of BMW eDrive technology. A key benefit of this electric
  drive technology of the future is the grouping together of the
  electric motor, transmission and power electronics within a new,
  separate electric drive component. Plus, the fifth-generation electric
  drive system also includes new and more powerful batteries. This fresh
  package of technology brings considerable advances in terms of
  performance characteristics, operating range, weight, packaging space
  and flexibility – and will be making its debut in the purely
  electrically-driven SAV.</p>
<p>The unparalleled technological expertise of BMW i has also played a
  prominent role in the development of the fifth-generation electric
  drive system, providing further evidence of BMW i as a nerve centre
  for sustainable mobility. The transfer of the drive system technology
  originally developed for BMW i cars into vehicles from the BMW Group’s
  core brands is entering a new dimension here. <br />Fully electrified
  vehicles of the core brand will in future bear a BMW i brand logo.
  This is visible in the concept vehicle both in the side and in the
  rear. BMW eDrive technology today already is part of the plug-in
  hybrid drive system employed by the BMW iPerformance models and
  MINI Cooper S E Countryman ALL4. In the BMW Concept iX3, the next,
  highly integrated development stage of this technology delivers
  all-electric mobility. The future series-production version of the
  electrically powered SAV will therefore also benefit from the
  technological basis underpinning the powertrain of the BMW iNext, due
  to be presented in 2021.</p>
<h3>
  <strong>Flexible architecture enables sustainable mobility.</strong></h3>
<p>With the world premiere of the BMW Concept iX3, the BMW Group is
  opening a new chapter in its electrification strategy. The future will
  see the company’s flexible, further developed vehicle architectures
  accommodating all types of front-wheel, rear-wheel and all-wheel
  drive. This will pave the way for models from all the company’s brands
  to be equipped with different drive system variants. And that means a
  pure combustion engine, plug-in hybrid drive system or
  battery-electric solution can be integrated into any model, as desired.</p>
<p>The launch of the fifth-generation electric drive system technology
  once again makes integration into different vehicle architectures
  significantly easier. The individual components of this new BMW eDrive
  technology stand out with their lower weight, scalability and
  extremely compact construction. Added to which, they fit into a
  flexible modular design structure and can therefore be utilised in a
  variety of different ways. BMW’s approach to highly integrated
  electric drive system technology can in future be applied to a large
  number of different models.</p>
<p>In order to exploit this potential, the vehicle architectures of
  current and future models from all the company’s brands will allow for
  the integration of different drive system variants. In this way, the
  BMW Group will be able to meet the ever increasing need for
  electrified vehicles with a wealth of different variants tailored to
  meet specific demand. The BMW X3, on which the concept vehicle is
  based, is one of the first models whose architecture demonstrates this
  flexibility. In addition, the BMW Concept iX3 features a specially
  developed rear axle subframe and specific chassis integration.</p>
<p>
  <strong>Scalable components, flexible production.<br /></strong>The
  fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology is distinguished by its
  extremely compact design. The electric motor, transmission and power
  electronics are now grouped into a single component, making it much
  easier to integrate them into different vehicle architectures. Plus,
  their modular construction enables them to be adapted to the
  performance levels required and the available space. Another notable
  element is that the electric motor does not need any rare earths,
  which means the BMW Group is not dependent on their availability.</p>
<p>The modular design approach has also been further optimised in the
  development of the next-generation high-voltage battery. The
  experience amassed by BMW i and the company’s established expertise in
  the areas of cell technology and cell design have been rigorously
  applied to further enhance the performance, energy content, charging
  capability and durability of the battery. Moreover, production of
  battery cell prototypes enables full analysis and understanding of the
  value creation processes for the cells and prepares potential
  suppliers for cell production according to specific requirements.</p>
<p>Like the vehicle architectures and eDrive technology of the future,
  the BMW Group’s international production network is also set up to
  provide a high level of flexibility – in this case for the production
  of models with electric drive systems. Indeed, electrified vehicles
  are already rolling off assembly lines at ten BMW Group locations
  around the world. The eDrive components for these vehicles are
  supplied by production facilities in Dingolfing (Germany), Shenyang
  (China) and Spartanburg in the US. BMW Group Plant Dingolfing plays a
  leading role here as the network’s centre of expertise for electric
  drive systems.</p>
<p>The BMW Brilliance Automotive joint venture will produce the future
  series-production version of the BMW Concept iX3 in Shenyang, China.</p>
<h3>
  <strong>BMW Concept iX3 with more than 200 kW/270 hp electric motor
    and a WLTP range of more than 400 kilometres (249 miles).</strong></h3>
<p>The BMW Concept iX3 represents another milestone on the road to
  locally emission-free driving under the BMW Group’s electrification
  strategy. And so a Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) once again blazes a
  trail for a new and groudbreaking form of BMW’s fabled driving
  pleasure. The current BMW X5 xDrive40e iPerformance (petrol
  consumption combined: 3.4 – 3.3 l/100 km [83.1 – 85.6 mpg imp];
  electric power consumption combined: 15.4 – 15.3 kWh/100 km;
  CO2 emissions combined: 78 – 77 g/km) made its debut in
  2015 as the BMW core brand’s first plug-in hybrid model. And the BMW
  ActiveHybrid X6 presented in 2009 was the world’s first Sports
  Activity Coupe with a full-hybrid drive system.</p>
<p>The BMW Concept iX3 previews the fusion of the multi-faceted driving
  pleasure for which BMW X models are renowned and a locally
  emission-free drive system. The version of the fifth-generation
  electric motor developed for the SAV generates maximum output of over
  200 kW/270 hp.  The likewise model-specific high-voltage battery has a
  net capacity of over 70 kWh, which is enough to give the electric SAV
  a range of more than 400 kilometres (249 miles) in the WLTP cycle.</p>
<p>Another feature of the high-voltage battery developed for the fifth
  generation of eDrive technology is its optimised charging capability.
  The energy storage system has a newly developed Charging Control Unit
  and is designed to be hooked up to fast-charging stations generating
  up to 150 kW. The high-voltage battery can be charged in just
  30 minutes from one of these stations.</p>
<p>
  <strong>Electric mobility also means a differentiation in design. </strong>
  <br />In the front, the kidney and the brand emblem show the
  affiliation with the BMW i brand. The closed double kidney with the
  blue accentuation continues the BMW i Vision Dynamics brand already
  featured in the BMW i Vision Dynamics. The closed area within the
  kidney reduces air resistance, providing aerodynamic benefits.</p>
<p>Identifying features of the BMW Concept iX3 include a closed-off BMW
  kidney grille with familiar BMW i car graphic, BMW i Blue accents
  around the kidney, around the brand logo at the front and along the
  side skirts, and a diffuser element in the same colour integrated in
  the rear apron. These styling cues provide a striking contrast against
  the Moonstone Silver matt exterior paint finish. The concept study is
  also fitted with light-alloy wheels in an aerodynamically optimised
  design. <br />
  <br />Alongside the world premiere of the BMW Concept iX3 and the BMW
  i Vision Dynamics study also on display in Beijing, the BMW Group is
  also highlighting the spectrum of design differentiation between the
  BMW and BMW i brands. The styling of the BMW i Vision Dynamics is
  characterised by the pioneering design language developed exclusively
  for BMW i models. The signature looks of BMW i cars will also mark out
  future models from the brand. This study of a first all-electric model
  from BMW is clearly defined by the robust and sophisticated all-round
  character of an SAV, which remains unaffected by the presence of a
  locally emission-free drive system under the skin. <br />The electric
  drive will be visible through the design elements from the BMW i
  design language in the exterior design mentioned above.</p>
<p> </p>
