BMW New Zealand will introduce the all-new, third generation BMW X1
to the local market in Q4 this year – bringing a host of compelling
new features to the premium compact crossover segment – before
following up in Q1 next year with the fully electric variant, the
first-ever iX1.

The new X1 combines a new and more prominent exterior styling
package, a redesigned interior that seamlessly integrates BMW
Operation System 8 and high-definition BMW Curved Display, a greater
level of spaciousness and an expanded array of driver assistance systems.

At launch in Q4 this year, BMW will offer the X1 sDrive18i which is
powered by responsive BMW TwinPower Turbo engines with seven-speed
Steptronic transmission and double clutch as standard.

Debut of the iX1, the new fully electric model, will bring advanced
BMW electromobility to a new audience and a rapidly expanding segment.
It will feature the latest BMW eDrive technology, delivering high
levels of emissions free driving pleasure.

Addition of the iX1 xDrive30 in 2023 will expand BMW Group New
Zealand’s electrified model portfolio to 12 models, which is among the
most of any manufacturer represented in the country.

Sustainability measures have been implemented in the development of
the new X1, with extensive use of green energy both in production and
across the supply chain, as well as use of greater quantities of
secondary raw and natural materials.

Design: modern surface treatment, increased visual presence
and robust looks in unmistakable BMW X model style

The surface treatment, lines and exterior design details of the
BMW X1 display its Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) identity more clearly
than ever in its third model generation. Distinctive design features
include powerful proportions, almost square wheel arch contours and
signature BMW X model styling for both the front and rear.

The upright front end of the new BMW X1 gives it a much greater sense
of presence, with slim LED headlights, a large, almost square BMW
kidney grille, X-shaped lines radiating out to the sides and chrome
strips in the lower air intake.

Adaptive LED headlights with matrix high beam, pulsating turn
indicators and variable light distribution complement the new styling touches.

Expressively sculpted surfaces and a long roofline are the
distinguishing features of the new model’s dynamically stretched
silhouette. When viewed from the rear, the slim tailgate window,
horizontal lines, striking LED lights and flared wheel arches produce
a contemporary and commanding appearance.

The robust aura of the new BMW X1 can be intensified to great effect
with the specific design elements of the xLine model, which include
stylistic underride protection. The M Sport model, also offered as an
alternative to the base specification, places the focus firmly on
dynamic driving pleasure with features such as large cooling air inlets.

A range of alloy wheels in 18, 19 and 20‑inch sizes – the latter a
first for the BMW X1 – will be available, while customers will be able
to choose from an array of exterior paints, including newly available finishes.

Enhanced equipment offering combines with new interior to take
cabin ambience to next level

A sport leather steering wheel, intelligent two-zone automatic
climate control and a rain sensor with automatic headlight activation
all come as standard in the new generation BMW X1, as do four USB-C
ports, two 12V power sockets and a far greater number of driver
assistance systems compared with the predecessor model.

Restructured equipment packages enable targeted individualisation of
the X1. The premium character can be turned up another notch by
optional features such as the Lights Package, ambient lighting,
panoramic glass sunroof and the high output Harman Kardon Sound System.

The remodelled interior of the new BMW X1, with its new materials,
layout, generous amounts of space and cutting-edge functionality bring
an entirely new experience for the driver and occupants.

The design focuses squarely on assured driving pleasure and
versatility, while its geometry and details take their cues from the
interior concept of the BMW iX flagship that launched in New Zealand
last year.

An increase to the cargo carrying capacity also enhances the
practicality of the new BMW X1. Boot space has grown from 505 litres
(with second row seats upright) of the predecessor model to 540
litres of the new model, and from 1550 litres to 1600 litres with
the second row folded down.

Responsive TwinPower Turbo engine designed to engage

The new BMW X1 will launch in New Zealand later this year in a
petrol variant, delivering high levels of response and optimum
efficiency.

The BMW X1 sDrive18i features a 1.5-litre three-cylinder
TwinPower Turbo engine with 115kW and 230Nm and provides impressive
acceleration while consuming just 6.5 litres per 100km*
on the combined cycle.

The engine is mated to a seven-speed Steptronic transmission
and double clutch set-up, with power sent exclusively to the front
wheels.

BMW iX1: a new era of driving pleasure set to begin

The BMW iX1 xDrive30 is the first all-wheel-drive electric offering
introduced by the brand in the premium compact crossover segment.

Two highly integrated drive units at the front and rear axles deliver
a combined output of 230kW – taking the temporary boost effect into
account – and post an overall torque figure of 494Nm.

The electric all-wheel-drive system ensures supreme traction and
directional stability in all situations. The BMW iX1 xDrive30
completes the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in just 5.7 seconds.

The fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology additionally comprises the
car’s highly efficient charging capability, including the improved
charging software also found in the BMW i7, and a high-voltage battery
positioned flat within the vehicle’s underbody. The high energy
density of the battery endows the iX1 a range of 413 – 438 kilometres
(Note: figures relating to output, performance, energy consumption and
range for the BMW iX1 xDrive30 are predicted values based on the car’s
current stage of development).

Chassis tuned for optimum blend of agility and ride comfort

All new BMW X1 models offer well-resolved handling characteristics in
any situation and deliver the driving experience for which BMW is renowned.

The compact all-rounder’s sophisticated chassis technology produces a
harmonious balance between agile handling on the one hand and
long-distance comfort on the other.

The platform for driving pleasure is delivered via a body
construction that reduces weight while increasing rigidity, a long
wheelbase, wider tracks than the predecessor model, and targeted
upgrades to the single-joint spring strut axle at the front and the
three-link rear axle.

Near-actuator wheel slip limitation is fitted as standard in the new
BMW X1, enhancing both traction and directional stability. Other new
features include the integrated braking system and the extra,
lift-related damping at the front axle.

The optional adaptive M suspension features frequency-selective
damping, sport steering and a 15-millimetre drop in ride height.

Wide variety of systems for automated driving and parking

The technological advances made in the new BMW X1 compared with the
outgoing model are also evident in the far greater variety of
automated driving and parking systems.

Features include Cruise Control with brake function, the
front-collision warning system and Parking Assistant including
Reversing Assist Camera and Reversing Assistant.

Other available assistance systems include Steering and Lane Control
Assistant, Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go function, Active
Navigation, exit warning function and BMW Head-Up Display, as well as
the Surround View, Remote 3D View and BMW Drive Recorder.

Existing functions can be upgraded by means of the Remote Software
Upgrades facility, which also makes it possible to add new functions
via the BMW New Zealand Connected Drive store.

BMW Operating System 8 and BMW Curved Display further raise
technology offering

The new BMW X1 treats its occupants to the latest-generation BMW
iDrive multi-sensory vehicle experience in the form of the
standard-fit BMW Live Cockpit Plus.

Based on BMW Operating System 8, it comprises the BMW Curved Display
with its state-of-the-art graphics and menu structure along with the
BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant that has gained additional skills.

The fully digital screen grouping is formed by the 10.25-inch
information display and the control display with a screen diagonal of
10.7 inches. The new BMW iDrive is geared purposefully to providing
intuitive touch and voice control, while the broad-based
digitalisation of the interior enables the number of physical buttons,
controls and switches required for operation to be significantly reduced.

The new My Modes combine individually selectable vehicle settings
with matching experience worlds for the interior.

In addition, a smartphone tray with indirect illumination on both
sides takes centre stage in the front section of the centre console.
Phones can be secured by a movable clasp and positioned upright in a
portrait position to be visible to both driver and passenger while
being charged wirelessly.

In addition to this, BMW Digital Key Plus, the BMW ID functionality
and smartphone integration using both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
expand the X1’s range of abilities and complement multiple lifestyles
and preferences.

Further information on specific equipment and specification with
pricing detail of the new BMW X1 models will be announced later this
year.
Munich. The BMW Group is consistently driving its
electrification strategy forward and presents new plug-in hybrid
models for an especially popular and dynamically growing vehicle
category. In the new BMW X1 xDrive25e and the new BMW X2 xDrive25e,
the intelligently controlled interaction between a fuel combustion
engine and an electric motor as well as locally emissions-free travel
can be experienced in the Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) and Sports
Activity Coupe (SAC) premium segment starting in 2020. A highly
efficient electric drive and a latest-generation lithium-ion battery
enable an electrically powered range of up to 57 kilometres* in the
two new plug-in hybrid models. With an average fuel consumption of 2.1
to 1.9 litres per 100 kilometres* and CO2 emissions between 48 and
43 grams per kilometre* for the BMW X1 xDrive25e and 2.1 to 1.9 litres
per 100 kilometres* and between 47 and 43 grams per kilometre* for the
BMW X2 xDrive25e, both models set a benchmark within their competitive
fields. Combined power consumption of the BMW X1 xDrive25e is 14.3 to
13.8 kWh per 100 kilometres*, the corresponding values of the
BMW X2 xDrive25e are 14.2 to 13.7 kWh per 100 kilometres*. The hybrid
specific all-wheel drive with its fast and precise distribution of
power between the front and rear wheels delivers a high level of
driving pleasure and thrilling agility.

The two plug-in models are an extension to the wide range of BMW
models in the premium compact segment of SAV and SAC vehicles. In
addition to numerous variants featuring extremely efficient petrol and
diesel engines, models with electrified drive will be on offer for the
first time. Thus, the portfolio will include in addition to economical
entry models with a 3-cylinder combustion engine also the new plug-in
hybrid models and the BMW X2 M35i (combined fuel consumption:
7.1 – 6.8 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 163 – 154 g/km*), the
extremely athletic top model with a maximum output of 225 kW/306 hp.
With the extension of its range in the premium compact segment the BMW
Group’s model offensive is gaining further momentum in the area of
plug-in hybrid models. The current selection comprises the
MINI Cooper SE Countryman, the BMW 225xe Active Tourer, BMW 3 Series
and BMW 5 Series models and plug-in hybrid luxury sedans of the BMW 7
Series. In future, four BMW X models with plug-in hybrid drive will
also be available. As a pioneer in electric mobility BMW intends to
have more than one million vehicles with electrified drive on the road
by the end of 2021. By 2021, 25 percent of the vehicles sold by the
BMW Group in Europe will feature an electric drive. By 2025 this
figure is scheduled to reach 33 percent and 50 percent by 2030. The
BMW Group plans to extend their portfolio by additional 25 electrified
vehicles by 2023.

The plug-in hybrid system of the new BMW X1 xDrive 25e and the new
BMW X2 xDrive25e consists of a 1.5 litre 3-cylinder petrol engine with
BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology and an electric drive specially
developed for this model. It is taken from the eDrive technology
modular system of the BMW Group. The petrol engine mobilises a peak
output of 92 kW/125 hp and a maximum torque of 220 Newton metres. It
transfers its power to a 6-speed Steptronic transmission and drives
the front wheels. The electric motor generates an output of 70 kW/95
hp and delivers 165 Nm of torque to the rear wheels via a single-speed
transmission. This makes for a hybrid specific all-wheel drive, which
gives both models a unique level of agility in their competitive
fields delivering hallmark SAV and SAC driving pleasure. The highly
responsive power delivery of the electric motor, which delivers its
full torque spontaneously from standstill, enables the driver to react
extremely quickly to changing driving conditions. In addition, the
position of the electric motor above the rear axle contributes to the
harmoniously balanced axle load distribution of the new BMW X1
xDrive25e and the new BMW X2 xDrive25e. In conjunction with the
intelligently controlled interaction between the two power units, it
provides maximum driving stability, ride comfort and dynamic response.

Together the combustion engine and electric motor produce a system
output of 162 kW/220 hp. The maximum system torque of both drive units
is 385 Nm. The new BMW X1 xDrive25e accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in
6.9 seconds. The new BMW X2 xDrive25e does the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in
6.8 seconds. In addition, the electric boost provided by the drive
system ensures additional safety reserves and intense sporty flair
when overtaking on country roads, for example. The top speed of the
new BMW X1 xDrive25e is 193 km/h. Maximum speed of the new
BMW X2 xDrive25e is 195 km/h.

With the very latest high-voltage battery cell technology, the new
BMW X1 xDrive25e and the new BMW X2 xDrive25e possess generous
reserves of electrical energy enabling the driver to conduct the main
share of everyday travel locally emissions-free with the electric
motor alone. The latest-generation lithium-ion battery has a gross
energy content of 10 kWh. This allows for an electrically powered
range of between 54 and 57 kilometres* in the BMW X1 xDrive25e
(between 55 and 57 kilometres* in the new BMW X2 xDrive25e). The
high-voltage battery can be charged at conventional household sockets
using the standard-equipment charging cable. An empty battery can be
fully charged in around five hours in this way. It only takes 3.8
hours for the battery to reach 80 percent of its total capacity. Using
a BMW i Wallbox, the relevant charging operation from 0 to 100 percent
takes less than 3.2 hours. 80 percent of total capacity is already
reached after 2.4 hours. The charging socket is located under a
separate flap on the front left side wall of the car.

The driver can use the eDrive button on the centre console to
influence the drive system’s operating mode. In the AUTO eDRIVE
standard setting, the intelligent drive system ensures optimum
interaction between the two power units in all driving situations.
Navigation data is also used to manage the plug-in hybrid system to
increase both efficiency as well as driving pleasure. When navigation
guidance is activated, the anticipatory energy management can also
take into account the route profile for controlling the drive system.
The MAX eDrive mode can be activated for maximum use of the electric
drive. In this mode, the new BMW X1 xDrive25e and the new
BMW X2 xDrive25e reach a top speed of 135 km/h. In addition there is
also the SAVE BATTERY mode. It enables the driver to maintain the
charging state of the high-voltage battery while driving or to
increase it by means of recuperation. In this way battery capacity can
be saved for later use when driving in purely electric mode in the
city for example. The driving experience switch can be used
independent of the drive mode. In the new BMW X1 xDrive25e and the new
BMW X2 xDrive25e, the driver can use this to activate the COMFORT,
SPORT and ECO PRO modes in order to influence the drive and suspension
functions as well as to operate the electrically powered comfort systems.

Due to a long electric range and low CO2 emissions, the new
BMW X1 xDrive25e and the new BMW X2 xDrive25e (depending on equipment)
meet the criteria which have been stipulated for the classification as
an electric vehicle in Germany and the associated preferential
treatment in public road traffic. In addition, it also qualifies for
reduced company car taxation in Germany. Only half the gross list
price is used as a basis when calculating the monetary benefit from
private use of the company car.

The new BMW X1 xDrive25e and the new BMW X2 xDrive25e feature
acoustic pedestrian protection as standard. When driving electrically
at speeds of up to 30 km/h, an unmistakable sound designed
specifically for electrified BMW models is generated to alert other
road users to the approaching car without impairing the acoustic
comfort of the vehicle occupants. In addition, the standard equipment
of the two compact BMW X models with plug-in hybrid drive also
includes 17-inch light alloy wheels, 2-zone automatic air conditioning
as well as auxiliary air conditioning. The interior can be
pre-conditioned remotely via BMW Connected using a smartphone. The new
BMW X1 xDrive25e is available as Advantage, Sport Line, xLine and M
Sport models. For the new BMW X2 xDrive25e customers can choose from
the following models: Advantage, Advantage Plus, M Sport and
M Sport X. In addition to the respective equipment packages, virtually
all options of the conventionally powered BMW X1 or BMW X2 are
available for the plug-in hybrid models.

The positioning of the high-voltage battery underneath the rear seats
not only leads to a very low centre of gravity, which optimises the
agility of the BMW X1 xDrive25 and the new BMW X2 xDrive25e, but also
to a slightly reduced transport capacity compared to the
conventionally powered compact model variants. The luggage compartment
volume is fully available in primary use. In the new BMW X1 xDrive25e
luggage compartment capacity is 450 litres. With a standard split of
40: 20: 40, the folding backrests enable this to be increased to 1,470
litres. A trailer tow hitch with detachable ballhead is optionally
available for the new BMW X1 xDrive25e. The maximum trailer load is
750 kilograms.

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.

BMW X1 xDrive25e: combined fuel consumption: 2,1 - 1,9 l/100 km;

Munich. The BMW Group is consistently driving its
electrification strategy forward and presents a further plug-in hybrid
model for an especially popular and dynamically growing vehicle
category. In the new BMW X1 xDrive25e, the intelligently controlled
interaction between a fuel combustion engine and an electric motor as
well as locally emissions-free travel can now be experienced in the
Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) premium segment. A highly efficient
electric drive and a latest-generation lithium-ion battery enable an
electrically powered range of up to 57 kilometres*. With an average
fuel consumption from 2.0 litres per 100 kilometres* and
CO2 emissions from 43 grams per kilometre*, the new BMW X1
xDrive25e sets a benchmark within its competitive field. Its combined
power consumption is from 13.5 kWh per 100 kilometres*. The hybrid
specific all-wheel drive with its fast and precise distribution of
power between the front and rear wheels delivers a high level of
driving pleasure and thrilling agility.

The plug-in hybrid system of the new BMW X1 xDrive 25e consists of a
1.5 litre 3-cylinder petrol engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology
and an electric drive specially developed for this model. It is taken
from the eDrive technology modular system of the BMW Group. The petrol
engines mobilises a peak output of 92 kW/125 hp and a maximum torque
of 220 Newton metres. It transfers its power to a 6-speed Steptronic
transmission and drives the front wheels. The electric motor generates
an output of 70 kW/95 hp and delivers 165 Nm of torque to the rear
wheels via a single-speed transmission. This makes for a hybrid
specific all-wheel drive, which gives the BMW X1 xDrive25e a unique
level of agility in its competitive field delivering hallmark SAV
driving pleasure. The highly responsive power delivery of the electric
motor, which delivers its full torque spontaneously from standstill
enables the driver to react extremely quickly to changing driving
conditions. In addition the position of the electric motor above the
rear axle contributes to the harmoniously balanced axle load
distribution of the new BMW X1 xDrive25e. In conjunction with the
intelligently controlled interaction between the two power units, it
provides maximum driving stability, ride comfort and dynamic response.

Together the combustion engine and electric motor produce a system
output of 162 kW/220 hp. The maximum system torque of both drive units
is 385 Nm. The new BMW X1 xDrive25e accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in
7.0 seconds. In addition, the electric boost provided by the drive
system ensures additional safety reserves and intense sporty flair
when overtaking on country roads, for example. The top speed of the
plug-in hybrid model is 192 km/h.

With the very latest battery cell technology the new BMW X1 xDrive25e
possesses generous reserves of electrical energy enabling the driver
to conduct the main share of everyday travel locally emissions-free
with the electric motor alone. The latest-generation lithium-ion
battery has a gross energy content of 9.7 kWh. This allows for an
electrically powered range of up to 57 kilometres* in the BMW X1
xDrive25e. The high-voltage battery can be charged at conventional
household sockets using the standard-equipment charging cable. The
battery can be fully charged in around five hours in this way. Using a
BMW i Wallbox, the relevant charging operation takes less than 3.6
hours. The charging socket is located under a separate flap on the
front left side wall of the car.

The MAX eDrive mode can be activated for maximum use of the electric
drive. In this mode, the new BMW X1 xDrive25e reaches a top speed of
135 km/h. In addition there is also the SAVE BATTERY mode. It enables
the driver to maintain the charging state of the high-voltage battery
while driving or to increase it by means of recuperation. In this way
battery capacity can be saved for later use when driving in purely
electric mode in the city for example. The driving experience switch
can be used independent of the drive mode. In the new BMW X1
xDrive25e, the driver can use this to activate the COMFORT, SPORT and
ECO PRO modes in order to influence the drive and suspension functions
as well as to operate the electrically powered comfort systems.

Due to is long electric range and its low CO2 emissions,
the new BMW X1 xDrive25e (depending on equipment) meets the criteria
which have been stipulated for the classification as an electric
vehicle in Germany and the associated preferential treatment in public
road traffic. In addition it also qualifies for reduced company car
taxation in Germany. Only half the gross list price is used as a basis
when calculating the monetary benefit from private use of the company car.

The new BMW X1 xDrive25e features acoustic pedestrian protection as
standard. When driving electrically at speeds of up to 30 km/h, an
unmistakeable sound designed specifically for electrified BMW models
is generated to alert other road users to the approaching car without
impairing the acoustic comfort of the vehicle occupants. In addition
the standard equipment of the compact SAV with plug-in hybrid drive
also includes 17 inch light alloy wheels, 2-zone automatic air
conditioning as well as auxiliary air conditioning. The interior can
be pre-conditioned remotely via BMW Connected using a smartphone. As
an alternative to the basic version, the new BMW X1 xDrive25e is
available as a Sport Line, xLine and M Sport model. In addition to the
respective equipment packages, virtually all options of the
conventionally powered BMW X1 are available for the plug-in hybrid model.

The positioning of the high-voltage battery underneath the rear seats
not only leads to a very low centre of gravity, which optimises the
agility of the BMW X1 xDrive25, but also to a slightly reduced
transport capacity compared to the conventionally powered compact SAV
model variants. The 450 litres luggage compartment volume is fully
available in primary use. With a standard split of 40: 20: 40, the
folding backrests enable this to be increased to 1,470 litres. A
trailer tow hitch with detachable ballhead is optionally available for
the new BMW X1 xDrive25e. The maximum trailer load is 750 kilograms.

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.

<pp:caseid>776570</pp:caseid><pp:summary>Model update raises desirability of BMW X1 another notch.</pp:summary>

Bold, sporty, visually striking, the new BMW X1 (fuel consumption
combined: 6.8 – 4.1 l/100 km [41.5 – 68.9 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions
combined: 155 – 107 g/km*) adds another chapter to the Sports Activity
Vehicle’s ongoing success story.

The new model update makes the BMW X1 an even more desirable
proposition. Key to its increased appeal are pronounced design
revisions, a high level of versatility and a host of cutting-edge
equipment features. Beneath the surface, meanwhile, powerful yet
extremely efficient three- and four-cylinder BMW TwinPower Turbo
engines and BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive are indicative
of the driving pleasure on tap in the latest X1.

The design: eye-catching and sporty.
The current BMW X1 wasted no time post-launch in winning over
customers with its distinctive design. And the model update ensures
the compact Sports Activity Vehicle now cuts an even more handsome figure.

The X1’s new look is immediately clear, with the most prominent
revisions found at the front and rear. Each of the model variants –
from the base BMW X1 to xLine, Sport Line and M Sport – has been given
a standalone visual presence tailored precisely to its character
profile. The BMW X1 M Sport is a particularly athletic-looking option,
courtesy not least of lowered M Sport suspension, BMW Individual
High-gloss Shadow Line trim with extended features (est. available
from 11/19) and the M Aerodynamics package.

The new BMW X1 exudes a more dominant, imposing aura at the front
end, in particular. Here, a larger BMW grille – the kidneys now
merging in the centre – links up with new Adaptive LED headlights
including sharper light iconography and a bumper with integrated LED
foglamps and larger air intakes. The rear end of the X1 also houses
new stylistic features. For example, the new inlay in the body-colour
rear apron adopts the car’s main body colour. This new feature is
included as standard and lends the rear end of the BMW X1 an even
stronger sense of inherent class and coherence.

Another highlight can be found on the driver’s-side exterior mirror,
which projects a two-tone LED “X1” image when the car is unlocked.
This is far from just a visual trick; it also makes getting into and
out of the BMW X1 that much easier.

The attractive new design of the X1 is further enhanced by three new
exterior colours – Jucaro Beige metallic, Misano Blue metallic
(exclusively for the M Sport model) and the ultra-exclusive BMW
Individual Storm Bay metallic – and four new wheel designs.

The driving experience: powerful and efficient.
The model update is also an exercise in future-proofing for the
BMW X1. At launch in summer 2019, all the petrol and diesel engines
will meet the EU6d‑temp exhaust emissions standard; the BMW X1
sDrive16d and BMW X1 xDrive25d already fulfil the EU6d norm. The power
generated by the efficient yet sporty three- and four-cylinder engines
is translated – via BMW xDrive intelligent all‑wheel drive or a
cutting-edge front-wheel-drive configuration, depending on the model
variant – into dynamic performance on the road and supreme driving
pleasure over rough terrain.

The BMW X1 sDrive16d, available with either a manual six-speed
gearbox or seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, is particularly
efficient. In manual guise, the combined fuel consumption of the 85 kW
(116 hp) model is just 4.4 – 4.1 l/100 km (64.2 – 68.9 mpg imp), while
CO2 emissions stand at a combined 116 – 107 g/km*. If the
seven-speed dual-clutch transmission is specified, the figures are 4.4
– 4.2 l/100 km (64.2 – 67.3 mpg imp) and 116 – 109 g CO2/km.*

Majoring on sports performance is the BMW X1 xDrive25d (fuel
consumption combined: 5.2 – 4.9 l/100 km [54.3 – 57.7 mpg imp];
CO2 emissions combined: 136 – 128 g/km*), which develops maximum
output of 170 kW (231 hp) and torque of 450 Nm (332 lb-ft).
Whatever the situation, the xDrive25d radiates BMW’s signature driving
pleasure. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in a rapid 6.6 seconds.

The BMW X1 xDrive25i is one of the top-performing models in the range
in terms of dynamics. Its 170 kW (231 hp) engine teams up
with the precise eight-speed Steptronic transmission to propel the
car down the road with unbridled vigour. It epitomises the
multi-faceted sporting ability which distinguishes all BMW X1 models.
The xDrive25i races from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 6.5 seconds.
Combined fuel consumption comes in at 6.8 – 6.3 l/100 km (41.5 –
44.8 mpg imp), combined CO2 emissions are 155 – 144 g/km*.

The updated BMW X1 line-up now comprises 16 engine/transmission
combinations, ensuring all customers have a wealth of possibilities
from which to choose.

The suspension technology of the BMW X1 provides all models with the
fleet-footed agility familiar to customers, delivers precisely
controllable handling and imbues the car with sublime overall
dynamics. The xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system available for
many of the models in the range splits drive torque between the front
and rear axles to suit the situation at hand. The result is a
combination of supreme traction, excellent directional stability and
dynamic élan in all weather and road conditions.

Under starter’s orders: the BMW X1 xDrive25e.
The impressive efficiency of the petrol and diesel versions
offered for the new BMW X1 merely whets the appetite for the arrival
of the first BMW X1 with plug-in hybrid drive system. The debut of the
new model next year will see BMW stepping up the electrification of
its vehicle line-up once again. The BMW X1 xDrive25e (petrol
consumption combined: from 2.0 l/100 km [141.2 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions
combined: from 43 g/km**) – due to enter production in March 2020 – is
fitted with the latest, fourth-generation BMW battery technology,
which gives the battery a gross energy content of 9.7 kWh. As a
result, the plug-in-hybrid BMW X1 can cover more than 50 km** (31
miles) on electric power alone.

Equipment: versatility and connectivity.
So the driving qualities of the BMW X1 on the road are hugely
persuasive – and the same goes for the versatility of its interior.
Advanced technology joins forces with generous levels of space and
countless smart and functionally adept solutions.

The high quality standards of the BMW X1 are evident, for example, in
the new contrast stitching on the instrument panel, which is black on
its upper section and adopts the colour of the interior upholstery
lower down. The contrast stitching is available for the xLine, Sport
Line and M Sport models. In these variants of the X1, the floor mats
also gain coloured edging and contrast stitching for the edging. The
BMW X1 can also be ordered with a choice of three new upholstery variants.

One of the highlights of the BMW X1 interior is the Control Display.
A centrally mounted 6.5-inch screen is included as standard. If a
navigation system is specified, either an 8.8-inch or the new
10.25-inch Touch Control Display – which can be operated using the BMW
iDrive Controller, voice control or touchscreen technology – comes as
part of the package.

The Control Display represents the ideal platform on which to explore
the BMW X1’s richly varied infotainment offering and access the
digital services from BMW ConnectedDrive. The latest versions of these
are available as an option in the BMW X1.

The remarkable versatility of the BMW X1 is not confined to all
things digital; its interior can also be adapted to individual
requirements. For example, the rear seats can be folded down in three
sections (40:20:40) and, as an option, slide forward by up to 13 cm.
Options such as automatic tailgate operation and Comfort Access –
which team up to enable hands-free tailgate opening and closing –
raise convenience levels another notch.

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.
