Today, BMW announces the Z4 Final Edition – a special Z4 M40i commmorating the end of production of the iconic 2-seat Roadster. The Z4 Final Edition will be characterized by its exclusive BMW Individual paint, unique interior accents, and commemorative badging on the door sill plates.

The BMW Z4 Final Edition will be produced in very small numbers from February to April of 2026 in a single, well-equipped configuration. Customers need only choose between a 6-speed manual or 8-speed Steptronic transmission. Regardless of transmission, the MSRP fo the Final Edition will be $77,500 plus $1,175 destination and handling.

Distinctive looks for an unmistakeable personality.

Fans will instantly recognize the BMW Z4 Final Edition by its exclusive BMW Individual Frozen Black metallic paint – a color that highlights the Z4’s unique design characteristics and dynamic flair. The special paint is subtly contrasted by the standard Shadowline Package, which adds high-gloss black trim to the mirror caps, kidney grill, lower air intake, air breathers, and exhaust finishers. The exterior design package of the Final Edition also incorporates a Moonlight Black soft top and red calipers on the standard M Sport brakes.

Every Z4 Final Edition is fitted with a staggered wheel and tire package. At the front, 19-inch M Dual-Spoke Bicolor 800M wheels are mounted on 255/35 R19 performance tires. At the back, 20-inch wheels are fitted with 285/30 R20 tires.

Customers who choose the 6-speed manual transmission will also receive the special chassis tuning developed for the Edition Handschalter Package. Enhancements include unique auxiliary springs at the front and rear axles and a specially reinforced anti-roll bar clamp fitted at the front. Both the mapping for electronic control of the rear dampers and the software for the variable sport steering are reconfigured. The traction control and M Sport differential also receive unique control logic.

The distinctive contrasting red stitching selected for the Z4 Final Edition provides a literal common thread that ties together the instrument panel, center console, door panels, and M Sport seats, which are trimmed in Vernasca Leather and Alcantara. The floor mats feature red piping and the special door sill plates are inscribed with “Z4 FINAL EDITION”. The seatbelts are trimmed in the M tricolor.

The Z4 Final Edition comes as standard with a full range of comfort, convenience, and safety features, including the Driving Assistance Package, Premium Package, and a Harman Kardon surround sound system.

The history of the BMW Z4: Launch of the first generation in 2002.

The BMW Z4 is part of a long tradition of open-top two‑seater sports cars. The lineage includes icons such as the BMW 328 Roadster, the BMW 507, and the BMW Z8.

The BMW Z4 had its premiere in autumn 2002, as the direct successor to the BMW Z3 launched in 1995. And, like its predecessor, the BMW roadster known internally as the E85 series was produced at the BMW Plant Spartanburg in South Carolina.

With its long hood and short trunk, the design of the BMW Z4 signalled power and sporting prowess. The second BMW Z4 generation: Unchanged dynamic appeal, electro-hydraulic retractable hardtop as standard.

In December 2008, BMW introduced the second generation of the Z4 to the world. The new two-seater, known internally as the E89, combined classic proportions with leading-edge engineering.

Perhaps the most intriguing feature of the new Z4 was the electro-hydraulically retractable hardtop made up of two roof sections. Featuring an aluminium shell design, the hardtop was included as standard and could be opened or closed at the touch of a button in just 20 seconds. With the hardtop in place, the BMW Z4 offered the refined comfort of a sporty premium coupé. The interior of the new BMW Z4 had gained much over the first-generation model in terms of headroom and elbow room. In addition, this marked the first time the roadster used the BMW iDrive infotainment system.

The pairing of the manual gearbox with the 382-hp TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder engine forms the heart of an enticing equipment package that emphasizes the two-seater’s focus on delivering an exhilarating open-top driving experience.

The 2025 BMW Z4 M40i “Handschalter” (German for “hand shift” and the internal working name of the project used by the small team that brought the vehicle to life) brings a retuned chassis and mixed-size M light-alloy wheels measuring 19 inches at the front axle and 20 inches at the rear. Special design features for both the exterior and interior are also part of the package.

The BMW roadster: giving a successful tradition a modern twist. 

The history of roadsters from BMW is built on a passion for sporty driving pleasure and success on the race track. It stretches all the way back to the company’s earliest days as a carmaker and endures in modern form in the shape of the BMW Z4.

An inline 6-cylinder engine, manual gearbox, and rear-wheel drive defined the driving experience in the original BMW 328, which capped its debut public appearance in 1936 with victory in the Eifelrennen race at the Nürburgring. In later generations, evolutions of this arrangement have continued to power the brand’s roadsters; the BMW Z1, which was unveiled in 1987 after being developed as an innovation testbed by BMW Technik, and the BMW Z3 presented in 1995. And the first two generations of the BMW Z4 also embodied the same recipe for delivering exhilarating driving pleasure under open skies.

A classic combination: six cylinders and a 6-speed manual gearbox. 

The 3-liter unit in the BMW Z4 M40i owes its free-revving performance, instantaneous power delivery, and silky smoothness to the latest M TwinPower Turbo technology. With 382 hp on tap between 5,800 and 6,500 rpm, and of 369 lb-ft of torque available between 1,800 and 5,000 rpm, the engine generates impressive acceleration throughout the rev range.

Now, in addition to the familiar 8-speed Steptronic transmission, the task of transmitting that power to the road can be handled by a 6-speed manual gearbox developed specifically for the BMW Z4 M40i. It is a BMW modular transmission that has been modified for the B58B30O1 engine’s output, incorporating M-specific components for the gear set and shafts. The outer shift mechanism comprising the shift lever, its guide, and the connection to the transmission, has been specially engineered for use in the BMW Z4 M40i and delivers the mechanical feel for which BMW manuals have been praised. The direct flow of power between engine and transmission combined with the driver’s central involvement in gear changes reinforces the visceral bond between driver and vehicle. A precisely defined shift action enables the gears to be changed swiftly and intuitively.

The manual-equipped BMW Z4 M40i can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 4.2 seconds, on to an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph.

Refined chassis tuning, mixed-size wheels for the first time on the BMW Z4. 

Variable sport steering, M Sport brakes, an M Sport differential at the rear axle, and adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled dampers all remain standard equipment on the Z4 M40i regardless of the gearbox chosen. However, those who opt for the manual gearbox benefit from unique chassis tuning intended to sharpen responses and elevate the overall driving experience. Exclusive chassis technology created for the manual option includes unique auxiliary springs at the front and rear axles and a specially reinforced anti-roll bar clamp fitted at the front. Both the mapping for electronic control of the rear dampers and the software for the variable sport steering have been reconfigured. Finally, the traction control and M Sport differential incorporate model-specific control logic.

For the first time, staggered-size wheels and tires are fitted to the Z4 M40i when the manual gearbox is chosen. The new bi-color M light-alloy wheels in a double-spoke design measure 19 inches at the front axle and 20 inches at the rear. Previously reserved for high-performance models from BMW M GmbH, this setup enables optimum transfer of drive power to the road while providing a progressive and predictable transmission of lateral forces in hard cornering.

Individual colors and trim set the special edition Z4 apart. 

In addition to the manual gearbox, the refined chassis tuning, and the combination of 19-inch and 20-inch M light-alloy wheels, the “Handschalter” package also adds distinct design features to the exterior of the BMW Z4 M40i as part of the deal. They include Extended Shadowline black high-gloss exterior trim on the exterior mirror caps, badging, and specially designed flaps for managing the airflow around the rear wheel arches, as well as red callipers for the M Sport brakes.

Continuing the successful roadster tradition at BMW. 

The history of BMW roadsters as the embodiment of driving pleasure on the road and success on the racetrack extends back to the company’s formative years as a carmaker. And the brand’s open-top two-seaters have also represented important milestones in the development of BMW in the more recent past. The BMW Z1 unveiled in 1987 was developed by BMW Technik GmbH as a showcase for innovation with its front-mid-engine design, slide-down doors, steel monocoque, and plastic body panels. Some 8,000 examples were delivered to customers between 1988 and 1991, and today each is a coveted collector’s item. More dynamic than ever: M Sport package as standard, BMW kidney grille with a new design.

The M Sport Package now standard on the Z4 sDrive30i includes design elements that emphasize roadster’s width and powerful stance. They include the three-section air intakes in the front apron familiar from other M models, distinctive side-sill contouring and a rear apron with bold edging at either side. The side air intakes – which guide the oncoming air to the air curtains, reducing turbulence in the wheel arches – have been restyled. And detail updates have been made to the design of the BMW kidney grille, with a horizontal inner structure adding to the impression of width at the front.

Exclusive 19-inch M light-alloy wheels, three new exterior colors.

Newly optional are 19-inch M light-alloy wheels designed exclusively for the BMW Z4. The V-spoke design, Jet Black matte finish and diamond polished rim edge are at once striking and sophisticated. The 19-inch M light-alloy wheels are fitted with 255/35 ZR19 tires at the front and 275/35 ZR19 tire at the rear.

The range of optional exterior paint finishes for the BMW Z4 has been revised, and now includes Thundernight metallic, Portimao Blue metallic, and Skyscraper Grey metallic for the first time.

Also new to the options list are the M Shadowline Lights, which may be specified with the optional Adaptive LED Headlights. The headlights’ dark inserts imbue the front of the Z4 with a discreetly sporting aura and compliment the optional Extended Shadowline Trim.

Eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission

Both models of the new BMW Z4 Roadster, sDrive30i and M40i, come equipped with a standard eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission with shift paddles on the steering wheel. Besides a wider ratio spread, the latest version of the automatic transmission offers even sportier gear shifts. The shorter ratios for the transmission’s lower gears improve acceleration and the unit’s improved internals allow it to operate more efficiently. The transmission features Launch Control for accelerating hard from a standing start with maximum traction. The eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission fitted in the BMW Z4 M40i has been configured with M-specific shift characteristics to complement the straight-six engine’s power delivery.

New chassis: increased agility and comfort.

The chassis technology in the new BMW Z4 Roadster has been developed to deliver the best possible agility and handling dynamics, thanks to a newly designed double-joint spring strut suspension at the front and a new five-link suspension in the rear, a first for a BMW Roadster. This chassis combination offers the best balance between sports car handling and ride comfort. The large supporting base and very rigid structure of the rear axle subframe as well as the bracing used for connecting it to the body result in extremely precise wheel guidance.

Another standard feature is the sport steering with variable power assist and ratio. This particular version of the power steering system is designed to promote not just straight-line stability in the new BMW Z4 Roadster, but also provide precise feedback during cornering and effortless low-speed maneuvering.

The car’s impressively sporty handling characteristics are aided by powerful lightweight braking and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) systems, whose wealth of features includes the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), and Dynamic Brake Control (DBC). The standard Performance Control function gives the new BMW Z4 Roadster even nimbler handling by varying the distribution of drive torque to the rear wheels according to the situation at hand.

M Performance model drivetrain.

The Adaptive M Sport suspension, M Sport brakes and M Sport differential, standard on the all-new BMW Z4 M40i Roadster and optional on the Z4 sDrive30i, raise the car’s already impressive handling bar to even greater heights. With these chassis systems on board, the differences in the car’s responses between the COMFORT, SPORT and SPORT+ modes, selected with the Driving Experience Control switch, are particularly noticeable. Featuring a 10 mm lower ride height, the Adaptive M Sport suspension includes electronically controlled dampers, which offer both comfortable and more aggressive ride and handling dynamics. The electronically controlled M Sport rear differential gives the handling of the new BMW Z4 an even sharper sporting edge. An electric motor generates a locking effect in the differential that equalizes torque distribution between the inside and outside rear wheels when cornering, making it possible to power out of bends with greater momentum. The active differential lock also works effectively in reducing both understeer and oversteer.

The standard 18-inch light-alloy wheels and optional 19-inch items are all shod with mixed-size tires. The wider rear tires’ increased potential for directional control was factored into the chassis tuning for all variants of the all-new Z4 Roadster.

The new BMW Z4 Roadster isn’t just about classical roadster proportions and spirited driving – it is imbued with state-of-the-art features to pamper both driver and passenger alike. The options list contains a myriad of ways to customize the all-new BMW Z4 Roadster to suit the owner’s personal style.

The array of cutting-edge driver assistance systems available for the Z4 Roadster is unrivalled in this segment. They are designed to optimize specific aspects of comfort and safety and relieve the strain on the driver during both long-distance journeys and in city traffic. The list of options includes Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, the Lane Change and Lane Departure Warning systems, as well as a Parking Assistant including Back-Up Assistant. The new BMW Z4 is also the first Roadster to be made available with an optional BMW Head-Up Display.

Exterior: a new design language .

A number of signature details form the defining features of the all-new BMW Z4 Roadster. The combination of very notable lines and a clean-cut surface design create a very distinctive take on sporting roadster. A sculpted front end with large air intakes, a low, broad BMW kidney grill and headlights positioned at the outer edges showcase BMW’s new design direction. The new mesh-design BMW kidney grill combines a track-inspired honeycomb pattern with a three-dimensional structure, whose elements have a vertical arrangement reminiscent of traditional BMW kidney grill bars. The design of the headlight units are a first for the brand, with the two light sources positioned one above the other. The vertical design is cut off at the top by a diagonal accent strip with integral direction indicator. The new BMW Z4 Roadster is equipped with LED headlights as standard and Adaptive LED headlights available as an option.

The long hood with arrow-shaped contour lines directed at the kidney grill straddles the wheel arches in a “clamshell” style characteristic of classical sports cars of the past. An upper character line runs from the bottom of the hood to the tail lights. A second, lower character line emerges from the large air vents behind the front wheel arches. This interplay of surfaces mimics the flow of air sweeping along the new Z4.

The trunk lid’s integrated spoiler and the slender, horizontally arranged light assemblies in the BMW brand’s customary L-shape help to give the tail of the new BMW Z4 Roadster a wide, road-hugging appearance. The rear end’s powerful look is strengthened by the side surrounds and the trapezoidal exhaust tailpipes flanking the eye-catching diffuser.

Individuality: colors and packages.

There is a choice of eight colors for the exterior, including Frozen Grey for M Sport models. The interior choices include both SensaTec and Vernasca leather with a special Vernasca/Alcantara upholstery available for M Sport vehicles. The soft-top roof comes in Black as standard and Anthracite with silver effect as an option. It is electrically operated and can be opened or closed in the space of ten seconds, at speeds up to 31 mph.

The Z4 sDrive30i arrives with Sport Line as standard. Further performance enhancements for this model include the optional M Sport or Track Handling packages. The highlights of the M Sport package include a three-section air intake for the front apron, prominent side skirt contouring, a rear apron with highly distinctive side surrounds, 19-inch M light-alloy wheels, M Sport or Adaptive M suspension, an M Sport steering wheel and Active Driving Assistant. The Track Handling package includes M Sport brakes, Adaptive M suspension and the M Sport differential.

Climate Control and audio: a personal sense of well-being.

The driver-focused cockpit design and clear arrangement of the controls help drivers of the all-new BMW Z4 Roadster concentrate on the main job at hand; enjoying the journey. The engine Start/Stop button has been incorporated into the control panel on the center console, whose styled surface is also home to the gear selector, the iDrive Controller, the Driving Experience Control switch, as well as the Electric Parking Brake and the switch for the electrically operated soft-top roof. The optional two-zone automatic climate control allows the temperature and ventilation settings to be adjusted separately for the driver and passenger side. Automatically dimming and folding exterior mirrors are available, as is Comfort Access. With this feature fitted, the soft-top can be operated using the car key.

The optional ambient lighting brings a soothing mood to the cabin. LED fiber-optic lighting in the instrument panel accent strips provide indirect illumination of the center console’s edging. The color and brightness of the lighting effect are adjusted in the iDrive menu. The standard hi-fi audio system offers a total of ten speakers and output of 205 watts. For a more impressive aural experience, there is the Harman Kardon surround sound system complete with digital amplifier, 12 speakers and 464-watts.

Model-specific seats and over 50 per cent more trunk capacity.

The new BMW Z4 comes standard with electric sports seats featuring integral head rests. The seat rails have been extended in length by 0.9 inches over those in the predecessor model, allowing the seats to be adjusted over a greater range. The optional M sports seats include electro-pneumatic backrest width adjustment to optimize lateral support through high-speed corners.

The practicality of the new BMW Z4 Roadster has been increased by a storage space behind the seats with a retaining net, large cupholders under the center armrest cover (which folds open in two sections) and roomy door pockets. The trunk capacity is 9.9 cu. ft.  (with the soft-top open or closed), an increase of more than 50 percent compared to the previous Z4. An optional trunk through-loading system extends the possibilities for handling longer items during everyday use and when going away on trips.

BMW Personal Co-Pilot: Innovative systems to help drivers.

The highly advanced nature of the new BMW Z4 is further underlined by the class-leading variety of offered driver assistance systems. Forward Collision Warning and the Daytime Pedestrian Detection with City Braking function come as standard, as does the Lane Departure Warning system. The list of options includes the Driving Assistance Package featuring Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, the Speed Limit Info system, the Active Blind Spot Detection, plus Rear Collision Protection and Cross-Traffic Alert.

The range of functions also includes the Back-up Assistant, which offers the highly convenient option of automated reversing in situations where there is little margin for error or the driver does not have a clear view. To do this, the system stores the steering movements for the section of road the car has just driven forward. It then traces these last forward movements when reversing and keeps the car on exactly the same path for a distance of up to 150 feet. All the driver has to do is operate the accelerator and brake pedals and keep an eye on the area around the car.

BMW Live Cockpit Professional: Seventh generation of the BMW iDrive.

The BMW Live Cockpit Professional in the all-new 2019 BMW Z4 combines a new display and control concept and the ultimate in connectivity to create a superb all-round package. The latest-generation of the iDrive comprises a high-resolution digital 12.3” instrument cluster display behind the steering wheel and a 10.25” center display diagonally across. The system offers many hardware upgrades including new haptic controls on the iDrive controller, an advanced tablet-like touch interface, and stunning visualizations. This latest system perfectly blends the strengths of previous iDrive concepts with the modern ways in which people utilize their own electronic devices. The multi-modal approach of the iDrive touch controller, large touchscreen center display, and cloud based voice control, allow users to interact in the way of their choosing. 

The seventh incarnation of iDrive, which runs the latest BMW Operating System, has a cutting-edge, fully digital design and is geared even more closely to the driver’s needs by allowing him or her to customize the system to his or her own preference with customizable widgets of information. This new level of personalization is then stored in the BMW Cloud and can follow the customer to other BMW vehicles. Various information from categories such as driving, entertainment, navigation, connectivity, and the vehicle info itself, can be selected in nearly any combination in any of four layouts on the Center Display. Multiple pages can be created and easily accessed with a simple swipe across the screen with a finger.

To maximize the capabilities of the large 12.3” digital instrument cluster, the traditional circular gauges have been finessed into an all-new design pushing the speedometer and tachometer gauges to the outer edges of the display as geometric bands. This new design opens space in the middle for routing and navigation, if desired. Information from the center display can also be shown within the tachometer. Additionally, the chosen driving mode will determine the visual display style. 

Other elements of the BMW Live Cockpit Professional are the Navigation Professional system, a hard-drive-based multimedia system with 20 GB of memory and two USB ports, plus Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay interfaces. The driver can be automatically identified and personal settings activated either using the traditional vehicle key or by downloading the driver’s personal settings the BMW Cloud.

Drivers can enjoy the full benefits of the car’s intelligent connectivity capabilities through vehicle apps such as news, weather, office and online search. Other capabilities include Intelligent Emergency Call – which automatically summons swift assistance in an emergency – and regular updates for the navigation system’s maps.

The Connected Package Professional includes Remote Services, Concierge Services, On-street Parking Information, and Real Time Traffic Information and is standard on the all-new Z4 for a duration of 4 years. This connectivity suite will allow for easy integration and adaptation of new technology over time. Customers can continue to download various new digital services individually as they become available or renew existing services via the ConnectedDrive Store.

BMW Connected: digital services for individual mobility.

BMW Connected is the companion app for BMW drivers. Intelligent connectivity helps users to reach their destination easily and with minimal stress – and not only when in their car; BMW Connected is an all-embracing concept designed to seamlessly connect the driver and their smartphone with their vehicle.

At the heart of it all is the Open Mobility Cloud, which allows the app to connect the car with the customer’s digital devices. These could include the iPhone and Apple Watch, smartphones and smartwatches running the Android operating system, Alexa-compatible smart devices and Google Home. For instance, the BMW Connected app can import appointments and addresses from the customer’s calendar entries straight into the navigation system to begin route guidance. The system calculates the optimum departure time based on real-time traffic information and notifies the driver with a message on their smartphone when it is time to leave. As the vehicle is linked up via the Open Mobility Cloud, it is able to access the calculated route directly when the navigation system starts up.

BMW unveils the World Premiere of the BMW Concept Z4 Roadster and the North American Premiere of the BMW Concept 8 Series during the 2017 Monterey Car Week. Both concepts are previews of the series production cars set to be revealed over the course of next year.

BMW displayed its #42 BMW V12 LMR at the display tent celebrating the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion’s 60th anniversary of Laguna Seca raceway. During the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, BMW ran two of its iconic classic race cars.

The retiring BMW of North America President Ludwig Willisch raced, the famous #25 1975 BMW 3.0 CSL IMSA Group 4 and  the #21 1972 ALPINA BMW 2002ti was raced by none other than Adrian van Hooydonk, BMW Group Head of Design.

Head of BMW Design and Retiring BMW of North America President to Race in The Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion.

Pebble Beach, CA – August 17, 2017 10:00am PST…BMW today unveiled two concept vehicles during its annual Monterey Car Week Press Conference at the Lodge at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance Reviewing Stand. The first concept car unveiled is the BMW Concept 8 Series that was first shown at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in May. The second is the World Premiere of the BMW Concept Z4. Both concepts are previews of the series production cars set to be revealed over the course of next year.

The BMW Concept Z4 Roadster is sporty and progressive BMW design study encapsulating the BMW Group’s vision of a modern roadster. According to Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice President BMW Group Design, “The concept expresses the new BMW design language from all perspectives and in all details. From the dynamic-looking front to the striking flanks to the clean-cut tail end: a few lines and the subtle interplay between surfaces are enough to generate a sense of power and emotion.”

The BMW Concept Z4 Roadster adopts classical roadster design cues, such as a long wheelbase, a low-slung, stretched silhouette and a compact rear end, wraps them in a fresh, confident package and enriches them with the contemporary BMW design language. A shorter bonnet and crisp overhangs ensure the driver sits closer to the center of the car than in previous BMW roadsters. This gives the new proportions a focused, sporty and agile feel. The outline of the car follows a distinct wedge shape, which fills the BMW Concept Z4 with dynamism before it even pulls away. The large domes stretching out rearwards from the cabin elegantly integrate the function of rollover bars and provide a sporting conclusion to the low-to-the-road silhouette at the rear.

After an eighteen year hiatus, the ‘8 Series’ name returns to the BMW portfolio with the BMW Concept 8 Series that serves as a preview of a forthcoming BMW model – the new BMW 8 Series Coupe, slated for launch in 2018. “The number 8 and cars like the Z8 Roadster and i8 have represented the pinnacle of sports performance and exclusivity at BMW,” explains Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG Harald Krüger. “The forthcoming BMW 8 Series Coupe will demonstrate that razor-sharp dynamics and modern luxury can go hand-in-hand. This will be the next model in the expansion of our luxury-car offering and will raise the benchmark for coupes in the segment. In the process, we will strengthen our claim to leadership in the luxury class.”

The BMW Concept 8 Series is immediately recognizable as a BMW, but also displays new design ideas and form-building techniques. “The design of the BMW Concept 8 Series provides a fresh interpretation of iconic BMW styling cues,” adds van Hooydonk. “And it also showcases a new approach to the use of forms which is reflected particularly prominently in the car’s surfacing. A handful of crisp lines mark out clear surfaces, and the car’s volumes are powerfully sculpted. Together, these elements make a forceful statement and create a model brimming with character. In short, this is a driver’s car.”

The BMW Concept 8 Series will be shown publicly at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering on Friday, August, 18th and on the Concept Lawn at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on Sunday August 20th. The World Premiere BMW Concept Z4 Roadster will have its only North American public showing on the Concept Lawn of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on Sunday August, 20th.

In addition to the various concours d’elegance activities, BMW will once again run two classic race cars in the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion this year driven by notable drivers. The famous #25 1975 BMW 3.0 CSL IMSA Group 4 will, one last time, be driven by retiring BMW of North America President Ludwig Willisch as a retirement gift from BMW. Meanwhile the #21 1972 ALPINA BMW 2002ti will be raced by none other than Adrian van Hooydonk, BMW Group Head of Design. Both cars will race in Group 4A on Saturday August 19^th.

The Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion this year celebrates the 60^th anniversary of Laguna Seca raceway and BMW is honored to be displaying its #42 BMW V12 LMR for the 60 years display tent. In the seven races in which it competed during 1999 season, the BMW V12 LMR dominated with 10 podiums and five victories including the1999 24 Hours of Le Mans, the 1999 12 Hours of Sebring and the Monterey Sports Car Championship at Laguna Seca. In total, there are only four V12 LMRs in existence of which one was the basis for the fifteenth BMW Art Car created by American Artist Jenny Holzer.

A roadster with character and sporting flair updated for the MY 2014

Woodcliff Lake, NJ – December 17, 6:00pm EST/3:00pm PST… The BMW Z4 Roadster represents the interplay of classical proportions and state-of-the-art technology. An updated version of the modern classic is set to arrive in BMW showrooms in time for spring 2013.

The new BMW Z4 represents a time-honored and yet contemporary interpretation of the traditional roadster concept. New exterior features, detailed interior refinements, the new Hyper Orange design package, as well as availability of the full range of BMW ConnectedDrive features all provide fresh impetus and lend the BMW Roadster even greater appeal and individuality.

The new BMW Z4 takes to the stage 25 years after the legendary BMW Z1 began the modern era of BMW Roadsters. That Roadster turned heads when it was unveiled at the 1987 Frankfurt Auto Show not only for its revolutionary door concept, but also thanks to its agile and responsive handling. With the BMW Z1 began the latest chapter in the history of BMW Roadsters – a tradition which stretches back to the 1930s and reached the first of many high points with the BMW 328 (winner of the 1940 Mille Miglia) and BMW 507 from 1955. The BMW Z3 and BMW Z8 triggered a fresh wave of excitement for the classic open-top two-seater concept in the 1990s. And they also paved the way for the first-generation BMW Z4 and its successor, the brand’s first Roadster fitted with a retractable hardtop.

Design: classical proportions infused with modern character.

The success of modern-day BMW Roadsters is rooted in the rigorous dedication of a concept, a process which has left its mark on both the design and the driving properties of each car and is clearly recognizable in the new BMW Z4. The sweeping hood, long wheelbase, low beltline and low-slung rear end play a more vivid and uncompromising part in shaping its appearance than is evident with any of its segment rivals. The low seating position just ahead of the rear axle gives the driver and passenger a particularly intense experience of the longitudinal and lateral forces working on the rear wheels. This sense of being “part of the car” also allows the driver to feel more in touch with the road.

The hardtop roof also blends seamlessly into the car’s form. As it closes, it seals a smoothly flowing roofline, while large window surfaces optimize all-round visibility and the feeling of space inside the car. Once opened, the two roof elements are accommodated, one on top of the other, in a compact package inside the Roadster’s trunk. The A-pillars – painted an understated black – also underline the low-slung silhouette of the new BMW Z4, especially when the roof is open. The optional BMW Individual hardtop – available in the two contrast colors, Jet Black and Titanium Silver metallic – provides a feast for the eyes when the roof is closed. The hardtop can be opened at the touch of a button while the car is moving at up to 25 mph (40 km/h) in an automated process lasting 19 seconds.

The distinctive four round headlights team up with the broad BMW kidney grille to form a roadster-specific interpretation of the brand’s signature face. The standard Xenon headlights of the new BMW Z4 have a slim design and extend well into the front wheel arches. They feature LED light rings which emit daytime driving light in the brand’s hallmark style. Added to which, the light sources now have a strikingly three-dimensional design which accentuates the intricate technology of the headlights. Cutting across the tops of the headlights are LED accent lights, whose metal insert bears BMW lettering. The integrated turn signal indicators have chrome-coloured surrounds, which lend further emphasis to the sophisticated character of the light units. Plus, a newly designed, tapered surround for the side indicators adds a dynamic sweep to the gills on the front side sections of the car.

Striking touches: new paint finishes, Hyper Orange Design package, a new alloy wheel and the M Sport package.

A total of 11 external paint finishes are available for the new BMW Z4, including the new Mineral Grey metallic, Glacier Silver metallic and Valencia Orange metallic, which can only be ordered together with the Hyper Orange package. This new aesthetic/design  package lends the Roadster a lively aura; the interior, for example, boasts an energy-charged contrast of black and orange. The bespoke Alcantara door panel trim, like the lower section of the instrument panel, comes in orange. The black leather seats have contrast stitching in Valencia Orange and an accent stripe running down the central section of the backrests and seat cushions. This stripe is likewise orange and is flanked by two thin white lines. The door panel trim and lower section of the instrument panel can also be specified in black as an option. Another exclusive element of the Hyper Orange package is the metal weave trim strip, which can be combined with further decorative elements in high-gloss black for the door openers and the gearshift or selector lever. This new Design package replaces the previously available Citrus Yellow Package and is also available in combination with other exterior paint colors as an option.

New interior additions to standard specification include high-gloss black surrounds for the central air vents and the iDrive control system’s folding Control Display, which comes as part of the optional navigation system. Elsewhere, exquisite Fineline Anthracite wood has been added to the selection of interior trim strips available as an option for the new BMW Z4. The BMW Z4 sDrive28i, BMW Z4 sDrive35i and BMW Z4 sDrive35is are offered with Kansas leather trim. The range of light-alloy wheels includes a newly designed V-Spoke 18-inch wheels combined with staggered front and rear tire sizes.

The engaging character of the Roadster as a driver’s tool is given particular emphasis by the optional M Sport package, which includes Adaptive M suspension, 18-inch M light-alloy wheels and an M aerodynamics package with large air intakes in the front wing and a rear bumper inlay painted Anthracite metallic. Bringing an extra dose of sporting flair into the interior, meanwhile, are features such as sports seats, an M leather steering wheel, M driver’s footrest, M door sill finishers and an anthracite-colored roof liner. The Aluminum Carbon trim strip, M leather gear lever knob and grey dials for the instrument cluster lend the finishing touches to the interior ambience. The new BMW Z4 sDrive35is comes with a model-specific version of the M Sport package.

Engines: BMW TwinPower Turbo technology in three output levels
The BMW Z4 will continue to be available in the US with one four-cylinder and two inline-six powerplants. Their most significant shared feature is BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, which ensures an exceptionally effective balance between driving pleasure and fuel consumption throughout the range.

The BMW sDrive28i features BMW’s award-winning TwinPower Turbo 2.0-liter four cylinder engine, which produces 240 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. It powers the BMW Roadster from 0 – 60 mph in 5.5 seconds with the 6-speed manual (5.6 with the 8-speed automatic) and returns EPA mileage estimates of 22 mpg city/ 34 mpg highway and 26 mpg combined with the manual and 24/33/26 for the 8-speed automatic). The BMW Z4 sDrive35i features BMW’s N54 TwinPower Turbo 3.0-liter inline-6, producing 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. It goes 0 – 60 mph in five seconds flat with the7-speed DCT (5.1 with the 6-speed manual) with EPA mileage estimates of 19 mpg city/ 26 mpg highway and 21 mpg combined with the manual and 17/24/19 for the 7-speed DCT. The top-range Z4 sDrive35is features a higher-output version of BMW’s venerable N54 producing 335 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque and the 7-speed DCT. The top model goes from 0 - 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds without a penalty to the EPA mileage estimates.

Extensive comfort-enhancing equipment.

The new BMW Z4 delivers the driving pleasure customers have come to expect from the brand, fulfilling the desire for both sporting ability and comfort. Drivers can use the standard Driving Experience Control switch to select a configuration to suit the situation at hand and satisfy personal preferences. COMFORT, SPORT and SPORT+ modes can all be called up using the rocker switch on the center console. As well as adjusting the responses of the engine and DSC stability system, the different modes also alter the shift characteristics of the automatic gearbox, the responses of the Servotronic function and the mapping of the electronically controlled dampers, if these items are specified. These modes allow the driver to choose from a selection of distinctive and clearly differentiated set-ups for the car.

Other items of equipment fitted as standard are Xenon headlights, automatic climate control, a heated glass rear window, the Soft Close Automatic function for the boot lid and runflat tires with a tire pressure monitor. The standard Z4 sound system includes CD player, AUX-IN socket and 11 loudspeakers. Customers can also choose the optional Premium Sound System with higher output and 14 loudspeakers. The optional navigation system enables high-resolution map graphics – complete with 3D view – on the 8.8-inch iDrive monitor. The navigation data for the system is stored on an in-car hard disk, which also provides 12 GB of capacity for personal music collections.

The range of driver assistance systems and mobility services from BMW ConnectedDrive has also expanded once again. The new BMW Z4 can be equipped with features such as High Beam Assistant and Park Distance Control with sensors at the front and rear of the car. If the navigation system is specified, the ConnectedDrive Services options allow use of internet-based information and entertainment services inside the car. This system must be fitted to enable access to the BMW Online portal and apps using the Control Display and iDrive Controller. The Real Time Traffic Information function is also on hand, supplying the driver with congestion warnings and diversion recommendations in real time. Apple iPhone owners can use BMW apps, for example, to receive web radio stations, display Facebook and Twitter posts on the monitor and ask for them to be read out. BMW Apps also enhanced safe, convenient access to music streaming services like Pandora, MOG and Aupeo as well as Stitcher. The range of BMW ConnectedDrive features available for the new BMW Z4 also includes BMW TeleServices, BMW Remote Services, Concierge Services and enhanced Automatic Collision Notification with automatic vehicle location and accident severity detection.

The market launch of the new BMW Z4 is scheduled for spring 2013.

Munich. The new BMW Z4 draws attention to itself not just on the road but also among internationally renowned design experts. Just a few weeks after its market launch, the Roadster has now received the 2009 International Design Excellence Award (IDEA). The award is presented annually by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), based in Dulles, Virginia. The BMW Z4 received the bronze award, thus continuing the success story of BMW Group vehicles in this competition. Since 2000, nine vehicles from the BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad brands have been recognized for their outstanding design.

The new BMW Z4 impressed the jury with a design which unmistakably and authentically reflects the driving pleasure characteristic of the roadster. With its long bonnet, long wheelbase, large wheels and short overhangs, the two-seater possesses classic roadster proportions which are interpreted in a modern way with a styling which is characteristic of the brand. Its sophisticated surface design gives the BMW Z4 an elegance which can be seen from every perspective. Its appearance is that of a vehicle sculpture shaped as a single entity. An equally characteristic feature is the low seating position close to the rear axle. The resulting driving experience and the visual impression of the roadster thus provide a perfectly integrated and fascinating whole.

For the first time, a BMW Roadster is fitted with a retractable hard top. The dual-section roof in aluminum lightweight construction also contributes to the harmonious design of the BMW Z4. When closed, the hard top provides a flowing, coupe-like roof line which highlights the car’s elegant look. When open, it is discreetly and harmoniously integrated into the flat rear.

The success of the BMW Z4 at the 2009 International Design Excellent Awards builds on the outstanding showing of the BMW Group in this competition in past years. Three vehicles of the BMW Group have received a gold award: the motorcycle models BMW K 1200 LT in 2000 and BMW R 1200 GS (2004) and the MINI Cooper S (2003). Silver has gone to the BMW X5 (2000) and the MINI Convertible (2005), bronze to the motorcycle model BMW F 650 CS (2003). What is more, the BMW 3 Series Convertible and the motorcycle model BMW F 8090 GS achieved finalist status in last year’s competition.

The international jury of the International Design Excellence Awards presented awards in 17 categories this year. In addition to products from the fields of transport, office equipment, communication, household and consumer electronics, there was also assessment of design research projects and innovations in the field of environmental technology. The official award ceremony will be held on September 26th 2009 after the annual international design conference of the IDSA in Miami.

“Expression of Joy” Creative Built upon Unique Artistic Collaboration

Woodcliff Lake, NJ - May 8, 2009... BMW sought an innovative approach for the launch of the all-new BMW Z4 Roadster, and had to look no further than its rich legacy of commitment to art for inspiration. The result, an aesthetically powerful marketing campaign entitled "Expression of Joy," rolls out in early May. The campaign, which relies heavily on vibrant video content, includes an MSN.com homepage takeover on May 11 with which BMW will be the first advertiser to make use of the Web site’s new feature - an expandable video unit that will allow users to view the BMW Z4 spot in full-screen mode. Also, the conventional 30-second spot is complimented by a 30-minute documentary.

At the heart of the campaign, created by BMW’s Austin, Texas-based agency GSD&M Idea City, is an artistic collaboration between BMW, contemporary artist Robin Rhode and filmmaker Jake Scott. Rhode choreographed the movements of two BMW Z4 Roadsters mounted with special paint dispensers behind the wheels to create a football-field size painting, while Scott captured all the action with 40 simultaneous camera angles. The final Rhode piece and video elements form the foundation of the campaign’s creative treatments.

“BMW has a long history of collaborating with contemporary artists,” said Jack Pitney, Vice President of Marketing, BMW of North America. “Through this latest collaboration with Robin and Jake, we’ve extended our tradition of engaging leading talents in the art community for the introduction of the all-new BMW Z4 Roadster.”

A 30-minute documentary that offers a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the Rhode piece, as it was directed by Scott at Downey Studios in Los Angeles last November, forms the centerpiece of the campaign. The documentary will air on Discovery HD Theater at 8 p.m. Eastern Time on May 10, with subsequent multiple airings on the network through May and June. Additionally, a tie-in with TiVo will extend the reach of the documentary by allowing TiVo users to preview and record it for later viewing.

The BMW Z4 campaign’s online presence will rely exclusively on video-based assets, to bring the performance art to life online. Video banners will run from May 8 – June 30 on leading news, business and lifestyle Web sites, including CNN, CNN Money, Dow Jones, Yahoo!, Condé Nast and Wired.

National print pieces, many with unique creative treatments, will be published in May and June issues of art, lifestyle and design magazines, including Art & Antiques, ArtNews Esquire, W, and Elle Décor. Notably, an eight-page, photo feature-style insert, written and photographed by actor Dennis Hopper, will run in the June issue of Vanity Fair, and a cover page takeover is slated for the June issue of Dwell magazine.

An out-of-home component is planned for the nation’s busiest airports in ten key markets for BMW. The airport billboards feature representations of the Rhode piece alongside images of the BMW Z4 with headlines that read, “Expressionism meets Exhilarationism,” “Not all artists are depressed” and “Rarely does the paintbrush rival the painting,” or the succinctly stated “Art Movement” and “Muse.”

While the core of the campaign breaks in May, some elements that laid the groundwork for the campaign began to appear as early as late-March, including: a public art installation featuring the Rhode/Scott collaboration at New York City’s Grand Central Terminal from March 25–April 6; an iPhone application that lets users replicate Rhode’s experience of creating artwork with the BMW Z4 as “paintbrush;” and the launch of the BMW Z4 micro-site www.expressionofjoy.com. Additionally, special video spots are now running in mainstream and independent movie theaters nationwide – a 30-second spot prior to the house lights going down and a two-minute cinematic piece as a lead-in to the feature presentation.

of what's possible with existing designs is the singular purpose of the
craftsmen at BMW M. The modern legacy of BMW M began in 1985 when engineers
placed the race-bred engine from the M1 supercar into the BMW 5 Series sedan

The design of the new Z4 features classic details with new, up-to-date style.
It offers a unique combination of elegance, performance and comfort. The rigid
aluminum shells of the two-piece hardtop completely open or close within 20
seconds. Even with the roof closed, the Z4 retains proportions typical of a
genuine roadster.

The new BMW Z4 comes with either of two inline-6 engines displacing 3.0 liters:
300 horsepower in the BMW Z4 sDrive35i and 255 horsepower in the BMW Z4
sDrive30i ensure outstanding acceleration and response.

BMW 7 Series
The all-new fifth generation of the BMW 7 Series radiates a natural presence,

A new V-8 engine with direct injection and twin turbochargers expresses BMW

important of all - inviting. The driver-oriented control center features Black

BMW Advanced Diesel with BluePerformance
The BMW Advanced Diesel powered 335d and the X5 xDrive35d models feature a 50
State emission compliant version of BMW's award winning sequential-turbo 3.0
liter Diesel engine - the first performance-oriented and efficient Advanced
Diesel engine in BMW's U.S. line.

The sequential-turbo 3.0 liter Diesel engine powering both models employs both
a very small and a larger turbocharger combined with an innovative intake
system enabling the engine to develop 265 horsepower. Even more impressive are
the torque characteristics. Fully 80 percent of the torque is available from
1100 rpm to 4200 rpm. The peak torque is 425 lbs-ft at 1750 rpm - almost as
much as BMW's 6.0 liter V12. The performance is what the enthusiast would
expect from a BMW. The 335d is capable of sprinting from 0 - 60 mph in six
seconds flat. The X5 xDrive35d will do it in 6.9 seconds. No other diesels in
the US will perform like this pair of BMW Advanced Diesel models.

Coupled with this performance potential is impressive fuel economy. The EPA
mileage estimates for the 335d are 23 city and 36 highway. The X5 xDrive35d is
rated at 19 mpg city and 26 mpg highway. Thanks to BluePerformance technology,
this unparalleled blend of performance and efficiency can only be found in a
BMW Advanced Diesel.

2010 BMW 5 Series
The BMW 5 Series continues as the quintessential executive express for those
with a passion for driving. Engine choices include two highly efficient
inline-6 engines and a 4.8-liter V8. There is the choice of Sedan or Sports
Wagon, BMW's characteristic rear-wheel drive or the innovative xDrive all-wheel
drive. All models are available with a 6-speed manual transmission or 6-speed
automatic with e-shift.

segment once again, the 2009 BMW Z4 Roadster will make its North American
debuts at the 2009 North American International Auto Show on January 11.

Return of a Classic

The classic roadster is back - more powerful and more stylish than ever before.
It is the BMW Z4, the only car in its segment combining classic roadster
proportions with a seating position moved close to the rear axle, rear-wheel
drive, with a retractable hardtop.

The new BMW Z4 offers all the driving pleasure of a BMW Roadster with
particularly refined and stylish flair. Driving with the roof down, this
two-seater offers a refreshingly intense experience of the sunshine and the
wind rushing by - and driving with the hardtop closed it provides all the
comfort of a sporting coupe in the premium segment. So through this diversity
and wide range of qualities, the new BMW Z4 is the re-birth of the roadster.

The design of the new Z4 comes out through classic details interpreted in new,
up-to-date style. This outstanding two-seater offers a unique combination of
elegance, agility, and supreme comfort. The aluminum shells of the two-piece
lightweight hardtop come to rest in the roof compartment, saving maximum space
in the process. Even with the roof closed, the new Z4 retains the proportions
typical of a genuine roadster.

To ensure driving pleasure, the new BMW Z4 is offered with two inline-6 engine
displacing 3.0 liters: 300 hp in the BMW Z4 sDrive35i and 255 hp in the
BMW Z4 sDrive30i ensure truly outstanding acceleration and response at all
times.

Comprehensive use of BMW's EfficientDynamics technologies serves to provide an
unparalleled balance of driving pleasure and fuel efficiency. While both models
are available with a manual six-speed gearbox, the Z4 sDrive35i is available
also with a dual-clutch sport automatic transmission featuring seven gears. The
six-speed sport automatic is available on the Z4 sDrive30i. Both sport
automatic transmissions feature steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

Featuring Dynamic Drive Control as standard, the BMW Z4 enables the driver
to choose between three drivetrain and suspension settings at the touch of a
button.

Design: the modern look of a classic roadster.

The new BMW Z4 takes on the classic look of the roadster in modern, flowing
lines. The car's proportions are borne out by the long and low-slung engine
compartment lid, short overhangs, the long wheelbase and large wheels as well
as the low seating position near the rear axle.

The front view features a large, upright BMW kidney grille, wide air intake and
the dual round headlights, typical of the BMW brand. All surfaces and lines,
including the character lines on the hood, strive towards an imaginary target
point on the road ahead.

The side view is dominated by the dynamic flow of the car's shoulder line
connecting the front and rear wheel arches and accentuating the stretched,
athletic look of the Roadster. The horizontal orientation of the car's lines
and surfaces at the rear, in turn, emphasizes the sheer width of the new
BMW Z4. Further characteristics are the extra-large hood extending far over the
wheel arches, the black A-pillars, the gills at the side with their integrated
LED direction indicators, as well as the slender rear fixtures with
three-dimensional LED-fed rows of light.

Stylish, sophisticated, and typical of a genuine roadster: the interior.

For harmonious unison of the exterior and interior so important in an open-air
car, the shoulder line is reflected by the door panels with their unique
configuration and flow from front to rear.

The contoured surface to the left and right of the steering wheel incorporates
the controls for the lights and air conditioning. These elements are available
trimmed in Satin Silver matte, Brushed Aluminum, and Ash Grain Wood, the
respective color and trim variant also being used on the center console and
door handle.

The standard seats with integrated headrests on the BMW Z4 sDrive35i feature
high-quality Kansas leather in a choice of three colors. A fourth choice, Ivory
White Nappa leather, is also available as part of the Exclusive Ivory White
Leather Package, which includes sport seats and Anthracite wood trim.

An Extended Leather option (Z4 sDrive35i only) adds leather on the upper
section of the instrument panel, the doorsills, the sun visors in Black leather
as well as the leather-finish door closing handles in upholstery color on
the passenger's side.

The entire range of paintwork colors available on the new BMW Z4 is made up of
no less than nine color tones including Orion Silver metallic exclusive to the
new Roadster.

Cycling in 20 seconds: the retractable hardtop.

The new BMW Z4 is the first BMW roadster to protect its occupants from wind and
weather with a fully retractable hardtop. This two-piece lightweight aluminum
shell opens and closes at the touch of a button within 20 seconds. The compact
packaging of the folding roof enables the Z4 Roadster to retain the
characteristic, slender proportions of its predecessor.

This innovative roof system offers outstanding acoustic and aerodynamic
qualities and sets a new standard in the Z4's segment. Large windows and the
high-quality roof lining give the hardtop a light look. Driver and passenger
enjoy a bright ambience, generous space, and optimum visibility. Compared with
the former model, the side windows are 40% larger, the see-through area in the
rear window 52% larger, and all-round visibility increased14% over the previous
generation.

The glass rear window in the hardtop is equipped with an electric defroster and
the four side windows of the new BMW Z4 may be lowered individually. The higher
roofline and larger door openings allow easier and more convenient access with
the roof closed.

The retractable roof may be operated either by a switch in the center console
or by remote control key fob when equipped with optional Comfort Access.
Comfort Access also allows convenient loading and unloading of the luggage
compartment with the roof open. To provide access to the luggage compartment in
this case, the open hardtop is moved to an interim position facilitating the
removal of large objects.

Flexible storage with optional through-loading.

The roof compartment and the luggage compartment are separated from one another
by a moveable partition, which may be folded up to increase luggage space if
the roof will remain closed.

The moveable partition in the new BMW Z4 is unique in the premium roadster
segment, and offers enough luggage space with the hardtop open for a
medium-sized hard-shell suitcase.

Using the optional through-loading system to the passenger compartment, the Z4
is able to accommodate a 46-inch full-size golf bag. When the roof is closed
the luggage compartment easily accommodates up to four crates of large bottles
or - when using the through-loading system - two 46-inch golf bags.

Various other storage compartments are designed into the interior. The new Z4
offers storage trays in the center console, a 10-liter glove box, hinged
compartments in the doors, and additional space behind the seats.

Included with the Cold Weather Package is a storage package that provides an
even wider range of storage and loading functions, with fastening nets on the
rear panels of the seats and in the passenger's footwell, lashing belts in the
luggage compartment, as well as a storage box in the bulkhead leading to the
luggage compartment.

Optional through-loading system together with a transport bag ensures even
greater versatility, allowing the user to load slender items such as golf bags
or two pairs of skis measuring up to 67" in length.

A successful concept with a great tradition:

inline-6 engines in the BMW Roadster.

Elegant roadster lines, the BMW kidney grille, and a inline-6 engine form a
combination that, in 1934, made the BMW 315/1 an unprecedented success both on
the road and in motorsport. That combination has been retained to this day in
the BMW Z4.

The new Z4 is therefore being launched exclusively with inline-6 engines, a
choice of two engines providing both power and performance. These unique
engines exhibit refinement and fast-revving response typical of a BMW
six-cylinder, offering an unparalleled balance of performance and fuel
efficiency in the premium roadster segment thanks to the BMW EfficientDynamics
engineering strategy. The individual versions of the new BMW Z4 come with
on-demand management and control of the car's accessory drives, a variable oil
pump, intelligent lightweight technology, and optimized aerodynamics.

BMW Z4 sDrive35i: performance with efficiency thanks to Twin Turbo and
High Precision Injection.

The most dynamic version of the new Z4 comes with the world's first inline-6
engine to feature twin turbochargers, High Precision Injection, and an
all-aluminum crankcase.

The use of two turbochargers (each supplying three cylinders) ensures
responsiveness never seen before on a turbocharged engine. The engine achieves
peak torque of 300 lb-ft without the slightest delay, and maintains this high
level of torque throughout a broad rev range from 1,400-5,000 rpm.

Maximum output of 300 hp comes at 5,800 rpm, and the BMW Z4 sDrive35i
accelerates to 60 mph in just 5.1 seconds (optional seven-speed double clutch
sport automatic transmission in 5.0 seconds). The acceleration continues all
the way to an electronically-limited 130 mph (150 mph when equipped with the
optional Sport Package).

High Precision Injection is a key element in the Z4's efficient performance.
Injecting fuel directly into the combustion chamber offers a cooling effect
allowing a higher compression ratio and optimized combustion efficiency. This
second generation of direct gasoline injection developed by BMW ensures
significant benefits in fuel efficiency without restricting the dynamic
qualities of the engine.

The 6-cylinder normally aspirated engine:

powerful and light thanks to magnesium.

Offering spontaneous power and performance, excellent motoring refinement and
outstanding efficiency, the 6-cylinder naturally-aspirated engine in the
BMW Z4 sDrive30i again offers the very best in its segment. Weighing just
355 lb thanks to its composite magnesium/aluminum crankcase, cylinder head
cover made of a special synthetic material and lightweight camshafts with
aluminum VANOS control unit, is exceptionally light.

While BMW's VALVETRONIC engine management controls valve stroke on the intake
valves, double-VANOS varies the angle of the intake and outlet valves in an
infinite process. This allows particularly efficient use of fuel, providing a
"beefy" torque curve and giving the engine instant response.

The engine in the BMW Z4 sDrive30i develops maximum output of 255 hp from
3.0 liters capacity at an engine speed of 6,600 rpm. Maximum torque of 220 lb-
ft, in turn, comes at just 2,600 rpm.

With this kind of power, the BMW Z4 sDrive30i accelerates from a standstill to
60 mph in 5.6 seconds (with optional sport automatic in 6.0 seconds). Top speed
is electronically limited to 130 mph (150 mph when equipped with the optional
Sport Package).

6-speed transmission with short gearshift travel featured as standard.

All variants of the new BMW Z4 come as standard with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Developed specifically for BMW's new Roadster, the various transmission options
are particularly sporting in their character. Indeed, this is borne out in
particular by extremely short gearshift travel much shorter than on all other
current BMW models with a manual gearshift.

Optional: 7-speed sport automatic with double clutch and 6-speed sport
automatic with paddle shifters.

As an option, the BMW Z4 sDrive35i is available with BMW's newly developed
double-clutch sport automatic gearbox. Based on the M DCT transmission
introduced in the BMW M3, this 7-speed gearbox ensures faster acceleration and
extra performance in comparison with the 6-speed manual gearbox, while
providing the comfort features of a BMW automatic transmission. The 7-speed
double-clutch sport automatic shifts gears without the slightest interruption
of power.

The BMW Z4 sDrive35i with its seven-speed sport automatic accelerates to 60mph
in just 5.0 seconds, while fuel consumption is expected to outperform the fuel
economy on the same model with a manual gearbox.

Sport automatic gives the driver the choice of either automatic (Program D) or
manual gear selection. If desired, the driver may shift gears manually by means
of paddles on the steering wheel.

The 6-speed sport automatic transmission available on the BMW Z4 sDrive30i
promotes not only driving comfort, but also the sporty performance of a BMW
Roadster. Indeed, the characteristics of the car are attributable to the direct
connection linking the transmission to the engine, based on modern torque
converter technology with an integrated torsion damper, avoiding unnecessary
slip and therefore helping to eliminate any loss of power and performance. Even
the slightest movement of the gas pedal, therefore, is converted spontaneously
into a quick response with gearshift times reduced to a minimum.

The sport automatic transmission offers the driver the opportunity to shift
gears manually when desired. Apart from selecting gears via the selector lever
on the center console, the driver also has the option to use the gearshift
paddles on the steering wheel.

Sophisticated suspension technology, high-performance lightweight brakes.

Rear-wheel drive, near perfect weight distribution, the long wheelbase and the
low center of gravity on the roadster create ideal conditions for supreme
agility.

Featuring traditional spring-struts, a "double-jointed" front suspension made
largely of aluminum, and a constant-geometry rear axle, the new Z4 comes with
proven suspension concepts in a configuration perfectly tailored to the
characteristics of the car.

Electric power steering plays a role also in the BMW Z4, enhancing the
precision and comfort of steering maneuvers and reducing fuel consumption,
since the electric motor for steering power assistance is activated only when
required or desired by the driver.

The new Z4 comes with new high-performance brakes, featuring low weight and low
brake pad wear. At the same time the BMW Z4 is the first car in its segment to
feature an electrical parking brake activated and released by a button on the
center console.

Both versions of the new BMW Z4 come as standard on 17-inch light-alloy rims
and with runflat tires as well as a Tire Pressure Monitor.

BMW's standard Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) serves not only to activate the
ABS brakes and ensure stability on slippery surfaces by activating the brakes
or reducing engine power, but also comprises other functions such as Brake
Drying and Brake Standby as well as a Start-Off Assistant. Acting in a similar
way to a mechanical limited slip differential, DSC electronic rear brake
management is used to simulate a limited slip differential for stronger
acceleration in turns.

Activating Dynamic Traction Control at the touch of a button, the driver is
able to raise the response thresholds for intervention by the DSC, thus
enjoying the option, for example, to set off on loose snow with the drive
wheels slightly spinning. And when desired, the driver is also able to
deactivate DSC altogether (ABS remains active).

Adaptive M Suspension featuring Electronic Damping Control (EDC).

The agility of the BMW Roadster may be further enhanced by ordering
the optional Sport Package featuring Adaptive M Suspension with Electronic
Damping Control. A central control unit varies the "compression" and "rebound"
stages on the four twin-sleeve gas pressure dampers to provide optimum response
at all times. The response time is so fast that a signal coming from a front
wheel crossing a hole in the road reaches and re-adjusts the rear dampers even
before the rear wheels reach the same uneven road surface.

Comfort and sportiness in one: Dynamic Drive Control.

Dynamic Drive Control allows the driver of the new Z4 to choose the drive
characteristics of the car. In addition to changing damper forces on the
Adaptive M Suspension, DDC also conditions the responses of the gas pedal, the
power steering, and the response thresholds of Dynamic Stability Control. And
if the car is fitted with either sport automatic transmission, the adaptive
gearshift logarithms are adjusted.

The driver operates Dynamic Drive Control via a button on the center console
next to the gear selector. By pressing the button, s/he is able to choose from
the NORMAL, SPORT and SPORT+ modes, thus activating a pre-configured, perfectly
balanced set-up. The SPORT mode, for example, offers more-direct steering
behavior and a more-direct response to the gas pedal. The SPORT+ mode, in turn,
serves additionally to activate the Dynamic Traction Control mode of DSC,
intentionally allowing slight wheelspin and thus enabling the driver to take a
bend in a controlled drift.

Extra space, more safety.

The new BMW Z4 is slightly larger outside than its predecessor, at the
same time offering significantly more comfort in terms of space and a lot more
loading space: BMW's new Roadster is 5.8" longer, 0.4" wider, and 0.3" lower.
Wheelbase has grown 0.1" to measure 98.3".

Apart from all-round visibility, the interior offers greater headroom (+0.20"),
extra shoulder room (+0.79") and more elbow freedom (+1.69"). The door opening,
increased in size by 1.02", allows even more convenient access with the roof
closed.

The extremely stiff bodyshell, lightweight construction and near 50/50 weight
distribution enhance both the safety and agility of the new BMW Z4. High load-
resistant subframes, optimum use of crush zones, the extremely stiff passenger
cell and highly efficient restraint systems ensure outstanding accident safety.
Frontal and head/thorax airbags, belt latch tensioners and belt force limiters
are activated by the sensor-controlled electronic safety system as a function
of the type and severity of a collision. The head/thorax airbags are integrated
on the outside of the seat backrests and inflate over a large surface in the
event of a collision from the side.

Making its premiere in the BMW Roadster:

the latest generation of iDrive.

The new Z4 is the first BMW Roadster to feature the iDrive control system as
part of its optional navigation system. In the new Z4 the iDrive serves to
activate all entertainment, information, navigation and telecommunication
functions.

The system itself is made up of a Controller on the center console and
a folding, high-resolution Control Display on the instrument panel, allowing
the driver to intuitively and safely mastermind all available functions.

Pressing the direct selection buttons on the newly configured Controller,
the user is able to spontaneously change to the CD, radio, telephone
and navigation functions. The range of direct selection buttons has now been
rounded off by the three MENU, BACK and OPTION command buttons, and
programmable favorite buttons in the instrument panel allow the user to save
and directly select radio stations, telephone numbers and navigation
destinations, and other menu items available directly through iDrive.

Measuring 8.8 inches in size, the high-resolution Control Display with its
resolution of 1,280 x 480 pixels offers excellent clarity in presenting
graphics or pages from the internet. A picture of the Controller shown in the
Control Display gives the driver greater and clearer orientation in choosing
the next step in the operating process.

Using the navigation system is even easier thanks to iDrive. Full-screen map
presentation, for example, offers an incomparably detailed overview of the
region in which the driver is currently traveling. As an alternative the
Control Display also offers an assistance window presenting further highlights
and maps independent of the main map.

With navigation data saved on an 80 GB hard disc installed in the car, access
times are faster than before. And at the same time the hard disc may also be
used as a 15 GB music archive.

Roadster-specific climate comfort and leather with

Sun Reflective Technology.

The new BMW Z4 is equipped as standard with air conditioning and seven blower
stages. Optional automatic climate control allows separate temperature
selection on the driver's and passenger's side, individual, automatic
temperature control in five stages of intensity, and manual adjustment of air
stratification. With the roof open, automatic climate control includes
convertible mode.

Like BMW's Convertibles, the leather in the new Roadster incorporates Sun
Reflective Technology. A special, highly innovative type of leather on the
seats, interior panels, and steering wheel that significantly reduces the heat
effect of bright sunshine: Treatment of the leather in Sun Reflective
Technology serves to integrate special color pigments into the material to
reflect infrared radiation in the sunlight.

Top-end audio and communication systems.

The audio systems available in the new BMW Z4 set standards in the segment in
every respect.

The CD player fitted as regular series equipment also serves to play music
files in the MP3 format. The available premium hi-fi system comes with up
to 14 loudspeakers and two additional subwoofers for an intense and precise
experience in sound, with amplifier output of up to 650 watts. A standard
AUX-In port is provided, allowing the integration of various external
MP3 player. A 6-disc CD/DVD changer in the glove compartment is also available.

A Bluetooth interface is available in conjunction with optional BMW Assist to
offer greater safety and convenience for making telephone calls while driving.
To fully integrate the latest smartphones in the car, the new BMW Z4 is also
available with a smart phone integration option.

New production plant: BMW Roadster coming from Regensburg.

The new BMW Z4 is built at BMW Plant Regensburg alongside the 3 Series and the
BMW 1 Series. This is because BMW Plant Spartanburg, where the former model was
built, is concentrating from now on entirely on the production of BMW's X
models.

BMW Ultimate ServiceTM:

Providing owners with incredible value and peace of mind

The 2009 BMW Z4 Roadster will feature BMW Ultimate ServiceTM, a suite of
services that includes the BMW Maintenance Program (formerly called Full
Maintenance), Roadside Assistance and the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. BMW
AssistTM with TeleService is part of the optional Premium Package or can be
ordered separately as a stand-alone option.

BMW Ultimate ServiceTM includes:

The BMW Maintenance Program is the only no-cost maintenance program in the
industry that covers wear and tear items like brake pads and rotors for four
years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. BMW owners pay nothing for all
scheduled inspections, oil changes, brake pads, wiper blade inserts and other
wear-and-tear items.

BMW Roadside Assistance is one of the industry's most comprehensive plans
available. Not only is it no-charge for the first four years, but there is no
mileage limit. BMW drivers enjoy the assurance of on-the-road help 24 hours a
day, seven days a week, anywhere in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
This includes everything from flat tire changes, emergency gasoline and
lock-out assistance, to towing, alternative transportation and even
trip-interruption benefits. This service also includes valuable trip routing
advice.

BMW New Vehicle Limited Warranty: All 2009 BMW passenger vehicles are covered
by BMW's excellent Limited Warranty, which includes:
• New-vehicle warranty - four-year/50,000-mile coverage of the vehicle.
• Rust-perforation warranty - 12-year/unlimited-mileage coverage.

BMW AssistTM provides the driver with services that enhance on-the-road
security and convenience, for added peace of mind. The BMW Assist and
Bluetooth® System is included in the Premium Package or available as a
stand-alone option. BMW includes the Safety Plan for 4 years at no additional
cost. BMW is the only manufacturer that offers this duration of service as
other manufacturers only include the first year of service. The BMW Assist
Safety Plan is a subscription based service that is subject to certain
limitations.

The in-vehicle equipment for BMW Assist includes GPS technology and hands-free
communication functions to deliver emergency and other services, accessed via
buttons in the overhead or center console. The BMW Assist system transmits the
location and vehicle information to the BMW Assist Response Center. A response
specialist speaks with the vehicle occupants to coordinate dispatch, notify
emergency contacts on file, and link BMW Roadside Assistance or emergency
services as needed and/or requested. A severe accident automatically activates
the Automatic Collision Notification function. The BMW Assist Safety Plan also
includes Door Unlock and Stolen Vehicle Recovery services, which can save the
owner time and money. New to BMW Assist is MyInfo, which allows users to send
business listings and street addresses with associated phone numbers from the
internet, directly to their BMW.

TeleService automatically notifies the BMW center when a vehicle will need
service. A service advisor then proactively calls the customer to set up a
convenient appointment and have the needed parts ready.

BMW Assist subscribers can also enroll in the BMW Assist Convenience Plan
(available at an additional cost of $199 per year) to avail themselves of many
BMW Assist concierge services, from finding the lowest fuel price or the best
French restaurant in the area to information on flight arrival gates or times,
as well as receive directions, and traffic and weather information. On 2007
and later models, a selected destination and its phone number can be sent
directly to the BMW Navigation system (if so equipped) and the customer's
Bluetooth linked mobile phone, after a push of the Concierge menu option. New
for 2009 is BMW Search, which allows those vehicles equipped with both the BMW
Navigation and BMW Assist system to gain online access to the Google Maps
database inside the vehicle to quickly find a desired business with just a key
word. The Convenience Plan also includes Critical Calling, a service that can
connect the driver to a requested party via a response specialist in case their
mobile phone is not in the vehicle or its battery is discharged.

Lastly, the BMW Assist system includes Bluetooth hands-free phone connectivity
with phonebook access and speech recognition for dialing by name or number via
the steering wheel controls. Use of this feature requires a customer-provided

Prices start at $40,795 for Z4 Coupe 3.0si and $49,995 for the M Coupe

Woodcliff Lake, NJ - April 6, 2006... The BMW M Coupe and Z4 Coupe 3.0si will
make their North American debuts at the New York International Auto Show. The
Z4 Coupe 3.0si, with its 255-horsepower Valvetronic inline six-cylinder will
have a base MSRP of $40,795. The M coupe will feature the 330 horsepower,
3.2-liter inline six-cylinder engine and numerous suspension and drivetrain
modifications from BMW M. It will have an MSRP of $49,995. Both prices
include full scheduled maintenance for four years or 50,000 miles as well as
destination and handling charges. As with their Roadster counterparts, all Z4
Coupes and M Coupes will be produced at BMW Manufacturing in Spartanburg, SC.
These latest editions to BMW's long history of sporting coupes will arrive in
U.S. showrooms on May 27th.

New Z4 Coupe based on newly updated Z4 Roadster
Based on the newly revised BMW Z4 Roadster 3.0si, the Z4 Coupe 3.0si features
BMW's latest award-winning 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine. With BMW
Valvetronic technology and unique magnesium/aluminum construction, this
255-horsepower engine can be mated to either a six-speed manual or new
six-speed STEPTRONIC transmission with shift paddles behind the steering wheel
and direct selection of manual shifting. If, while driving in D, the driver
manually downshifts via paddle or shift lever, the Manual mode engages. But if
the driver makes no further manual shifts within 15 seconds, the transmission
returns to automatic operation.

The design of the Z4 Coupe instantly catches the eye. It also offers practical
benefits, including the ability to carry two golf bags. The outstanding
handling of the Z4 Roadster is enhanced by the Coupe's increased torsional
rigidity. As with the Z4 Roadster, the Z4 Coupe 3.0si features runflat tires
as standard equipment. It is also the latest BMW model to include the most
advance version of BMW's Dynamic Stability Control. Emergency braking
capability is maximized by features such as Brake Drying, which works to keep
the brakes dry in wet conditions, and Brake Standby, which immediately
positions the brake pads nearer the discs whenever the driver lifts off the
accelerator pedal quickly in anticipation of an immediate move for the brakes.
Emergency braking is further enhanced by automatic Brake Fade Compensation,
which helps to maximize brake pressure and stopping ability whenever the brakes
get hot. Smooth starts are facilitated by the Start-Off Assistant, which holds
the brakes briefly on a hill after the brake pedal is released in order to
prevent the car from rolling back.

The interior of the Z4 Coupe 3.0si can be tailored to individual tastes with a
choice of wood trim and the availability of M Sport Seats and Extended Leather
Upholstery. A Premium and a Sport Package may both be added. The impressive
array of standard equipment includes automatic climate control, on-board
computer, and a Premium Sound System that is THX certified.

Uncompromising, purist, and exceptionally powerful: the new Z4 M Coupe
At the heart of the new Z4 M Coupe is BMW M's award winning 3.2-liter in-line
six-cylinder engine. In 2005, this engine was voted "Engine of the Year" by an
international jury a record fifth consecutive time. With its high-speed
concept, this engine works through a six-speed manual transmission to provide
exhilarating performance in all speed ranges. As in the BMW M3, this engine
features dual overhead cams, double-VANOS variable valve timing, and six
individual throttle plates. This normally aspirated engine generates more than
100 hp per liter. On the road, this means 0 - 60 in less than five seconds and
a top speed electronically limited to 155 mph.

Identical in concept to the suspension on the BMW Z4 M Roadster, the suspension
of the Z4 M Coupe shares many features and details with the BMW M3; including
the speed-sensitive variable M differential lock. It provides outstanding
stability and traction, particularly when accelerating out of bends. To
maximize its braking capabilities, the new M Coupe uses BMW M's floating
compound high performance braking system originally conceived for the M3 CSL
and included in the M3 Competition Package as well as the Z4 M Roadster.

Seen from the side, this two-door coupe with its low and dynamic roofline
sweeping down to the rear, as well as the "Hofmeister kick" in the rear side
windows, ensures a particularly dynamic touch. The M Coupe distinguishes
itself from the Z4 Coupe 3.0si starting with its front air dam, consisting of
an X-shaped combination of lines and openings, plus the large air intake
scoops. The rear of the M Coupe incorporates a horizontal diffuser and the
four round tailpipes which have become a hallmark of BMW M design.

The distinctive M touches continue in the interior. As on other BMW M
products, the white-on-black instruments include red indicator needles
accentuated by white illumination. Also included is the engine speed band in
the tachometer. The yellow pre-warning field and red warning field show the
safe operating range of engine speed as a function of oil temperature.

New exterior colors, including three that are exclusive to BMW M, allow the new
Z4 M Coupe to be tailored to individual tastes.

Z4 Roadster and Coupe are First European Cars to Offer a THX Certified Car
Audio System.

music programme - with a standard of intensity and brilliance traditionally
offered by the most sophisticated home entertainment systems.

BMW develops sound systems for the top connoisseur of audio quality.
BMW's sound systems are configured and coordinated individually for each model
within the BMW range. This ensures that each system meets all the demands made
of each vehicle's varying size and body contours. "One of the particular
challenges is to develop optimum sound systems for a convertible required to
offer the same listening experience with the roof both open and closed" says
Edgar Kirk, Head of Development of Audio Systems of the BMW Group. BMW's
engineers offer a premium sound system, developed specifically for the BMW
Z4 M Roadster and BMW Z4 Roadster to become BMW's first THX Certified Audio
System. The premium sound system will be tailored for the BMW Z4 Coupe.

THX engineers worked closely with BMW to analyze in detail the Z4's cabin
acoustics, speakers and other audio components in order to check whether they
performed to THX specifications. THX rigorously tested the audio system under a
variety of road and driving conditions. THX analyzed the system for dynamic
range, frequency response, power output and distortion. The result is a THX
Certified System that delivers a smooth, clean sound.

BMW Carver technology, a digital ten-channel audio amplifier, and a digital
sound processor all interact to ensure a supreme THX Certified sound experience.
The Z4 premium sound system offers the option to choose the experience of
enjoying music either in an open-air stage or a concert hall setting. In order
to offer the aficionado of roadster and coupé motoring not only a unique
driving experience, but also an incomparable experience of sound, BMW has
introduced Carver technology into this THX Certified system. "Thanks to Carver
technology, a high sound pressure can be produced with a small speaker
diameter" says Edgar Kirk. The limited package space available for large bass
speakers in a two-seater can be used in the best possible way. Requiring a
volume of only 10 liters per loudspeaker, the system is able to generate
enormous sound pressure (output level) of more than 120 db. A digital
10-channel audio amplifier and sound processor, in turn, gives the sub-woofers
an output of 100 Watts. Two woofers each developing 40 Watts are positioned at
the front of the car, six midrange loudspeakers and tweeters are fitted in the
doors and behind the seats, each driven by a 25 Watts terminal. The premium
sound system develops a total power output of 430 Watts.

THX certification combined with BMW's Carver technology, top-end amplifiers and
the perfect configuration of sound sources within the car ensures a premium
sound experience for both driver and passengers. "We are very happy that our
work is honoured in this way," declares Edgar Kirk.

The THX philosophy: Deliver entertainment experiences that are true to the
artist's vision.
THX is one of the few entertainment companies in the world that works to
optimize how music, films and other content is created in the studio, while
also focusing on the consumers entertainment experience in the cinema, home and
automobile. In order to achieve THX certification, car audio systems must be
designed to meet THX's rigorous standards for quality and performance. THX

Munich. Following strong consumer reaction to the concept Z4 Coupe at the 2005
Frankfurt and Tokyo Auto Shows, BMW has confirmed that both the Z4 Coupe and an
M version, the M Coupe will enter series production.

Visitors in Frankfurt and Tokyo were captivated by the car's stylish body with
its unique silken matte finish, tailored in the very best style of a classic
sports coupe. While the driving dynamics potential of the vehicle was clear in
its strong, purposeful lines, equally appealing to visitors was the striking
interior design.

To be produced in Spartanburg, S.C., the first vehicles will be delivered to
customers as early as June 2006.

The proven 255 horsepower (U.S. SAE net) in-line 6-cylinder engine with its
high output and lightweight magnesium and aluminum construction promises
superior agility and high performance. It not only catapults the Z4 Coupe to
the top of the international competitive field but is also demonstrates the
enormous performance capacity of the fundamental BMW Z4 Roadster concept -
which forms the basis of the coupe.

BMW is also working to produce a high-end variation as quickly as possible and
the result will be the return of the M Coupe, based on the new Z4 Coupe.
Powered by the exciting 3.2-liter high-rpm engine, familiar from the BMW M3 and
winner of many international awards, it will also come out in June 2006.

Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, September 19th, 2002... BMW released prices for the
all-new 2003 Z4 roadster, the direct successor to the Z3 roadster that won
customers hearts and souls, and virtually created the premium roadster segment.
The Z4 roadster 2.5i will retail for $33,795 and the Z4 roadster 3.0i for
$40,945 including destination and handling.

The Z4 roadster will be available in two models, both featuring BMW's renowned
in-line sixes; the Z4 roadster 2.5i with the 2.5L, 184-horsepower powerplant,
and the Z4 roadster 3.0i featuring the 3.0L, 225-horsepower engine. The Z4 2.5i
will accelerate from 0-60 mph in 7.1 seconds with the standard 5-speed manual
transmission (7.2 with automatic); the Z4 3.0i needs just 5.9 seconds using the
standard 6-speed manual(6.0 with automatic; 6-speed manual will be available as
of December 2002 production.) The optional automatic transmission for both
models is a 5-speed STEPTRONIC automatic.

Both versions come standard with a host of advanced features for improved
handling: Vehicle Speed Sensitive Electric Power Steering, Dynamic Stability
Control, Dynamic Traction Control, electronic brake proportioning, ABS and
cornering/avoidance-stability enhancement. Also included are run-flat tires
with flat tire monitor on 17-inch alloy wheels on the Z4 3.0i (18 inch with
optional sport package) and 16-inch (17-inch with optional sport package) on
the Z4 2.5i. These features, combined with the Z4's wide track, extremely low
center of gravity and optimum 50:50 weight distribution, yield outstanding
agility and handling.

The fully lined softtop features a heated glass rear window. The available
fully automatic power softtop will open or close in just 10 seconds. Other
standard features of the new Z4 include a leather sport steering wheel, sport
seats, a rollover safety system, adjustable steering column and remote entry
system.

A 10-speaker AM/FM/CD audio system with Radio Data System is standard in the Z4
2.5i and a Premium audio system with upgraded audio power, Carver Technology
and 10 audiophile-quality speakers with two subwoofers is standard in the Z4
3.0i, and optional in the Z4 2.5i.

Other options available at extra cost include a DVD-based navigation system
with 16:9 display which retracts into the dashboard.

BMW's new premium two-seater features a fresh new design and all-new chassis

Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey July 1, 2002 ... The all-new BMW Z4 roadster marks
another highlight in BMW's new design strategy, and sets new standards for
premium roadsters. When its predecessor, the BMW Z3 roadster, was introduced in
1995 (as a '96 model), it captured people's attention - in particular with its
public debut as James Bond's new company car in Goldeneye and virtually created
the premium roadster segment. Its replacement is so completely revised that it
will carry a new designation - BMW Z4.

The new Z4 is a modern interpretation of all the classic roadster features - a
long and sweeping hood, a long wheelbase, short overhangs and a low seating
position in a cockpit that is set back. The design of the car is all new and
characterized by the intriguing interplay of convex and concave surfaces, hard
edges and curves. This interplay of surfaces creates new transitions of light
and shadow from every angle, giving the Z4 an eye-catching visual character.
The new body offers the roadster aficionado not only a spacious cockpit with a
design that echoes the sophisticated nature of the exterior, it also boasts a
large luggage compartment offering about nine cubic feet of space, which is
large enough for two golf bags. The soft roof comes with a heated glass rear
window and neatly folds down for storage. An integrated tonneau cover
eliminates the need for an attachable boot. The available fully automatic top
can be raised or lowered in about 10 seconds.

Available with a choice of two high-torque in-line sixes, the Z4 roadster 3.0i
(225-horsepower) and the Z4 roadster 2.5i (184-horsepower) offer more than
enough power to keep things interesting. The Z4 roadster 3.0i will be
available with a choice of 6-speed manual or 5-speed STEPTRONIC automatic,
while the Z4 roadster 2.5i offers a 5-speed manual or STEPTRONIC automatic.
Next spring a Sequential Manual Gearbox (SMG) will be available in both models.
The Z4's handling will establish new benchmarks. The suspension is a modified
version of the highly acclaimed suspension from the 3 Series. Dynamic Drive
Control (DDC), available as an option, features a "Sport" Button. It provides
even more spontaneous acceleration and power at the touch of the gas pedal,
quicker steering, as well as an even more aggressive shifting program for the
five-speed automatic transmission.

The Z4's wide track, extremely low center of gravity, optimum 50:50 weight
distribution and very precise electric power steering help give the new Z4 its
outstanding agility. Fade-free high-performance brakes, standard Run-Flat tires
and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) with an on-demand traction mode contribute
to outstanding safety in all driving situations.

Standard features of the new Z4 include a leather sports steering wheel, sport
seats, a rollover safety system, and remote entry system. Options available at
extra cost include a DVD-based navigation system with 16:9 display which
retracts into the instrument panel, a premium sound system with Carver
technology for powerful bass reproduction, and an integrated hands-free phone.
The BMW Z4 roadster will be available for sale in the US market this fall, then
will make its appearance in Europe in spring 2003. As before, the new roadster
will be built in Spartanburg, SC.
