xDrive30i and $57,800 for the X3 M40i. MSRP for the X4 xDrive30i is
$51,800 and $62,400 for the X4 M40i. Destination of $995 is in
addition to all MSRP pricing.

The 2022 X3 and X4 begin production in late Summer at BMW Group’s
largest global production facility, Plant Spartanburg in Greer, South Carolina.

X3 Exterior Updates

Exterior updates for the 2022 BMW X3 include a redesigned BMW kidney
grille, headlights, front and rear bumpers, exhaust trim and rear lights.

The standard full LED headlights are 0.4 inches thinner than before
while the BMW kidney grille is larger and is now surrounded by a
one-piece frame. A black sensor bar provides visual separation of the
kidney grille. The kidney grille frame is finished in pearlescent
chrome, the grille bars in satin aluminum. The appearance of the
headlights can be changed with darkened inserts from the optional M
Shadowline lights, part of the Shadowline Package.

Below the headlights, vertical air intakes arranged in a triangular
design, frame the new front bumper design. The window frames and roof
rails are finished in satin aluminum.

The rear section of the new BMW X3 features a black border for the
redesigned full LED rear lights in a three-dimensional modelled pincer
claw contour with integrated horizontal turn signal bars in the
center. The emphasis on horizontal lines in the concave area at the
lower end of the tailgate contributes to a cleaner rear appearance.
New flush-fitting free-form exhaust trim is now larger and sportier to
convey more presence.

X3 Aerodynamically Optimized Alloy Wheels

The BMW X3 sDrive30i and X3 xDrive30i are equipped with standard
19-inch alloy Y-spoke ferric grey style 693 wheels and 245/50R19
all-season runflat tires. Optionally available are 19-inch BMW
aerodynamic Jet Black Bicolor Style 842 wheels. This optional wheel
has a single-section plastic insert that is attached to the aluminum
wheel with clips and a spring washer. The resulting increased surface
area of the wheel, in conjunction with the air curtains, calms the air
flow around the front wheel and front wheel arch. This improves
aerodynamics and helps reduce both fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
Thanks to the use of the plastic trim, the wheel is around 15 percent
lighter than a wheel cast entirely from aluminum. In addition, the
insert can easily be removed at any time, such as when using snow
chains, and is simple to replace in the event of damage.

M Sport Package for X3 sDrive30i and X3 xDrive30i

The M Sport Package gives the BMW X3 a sportier and more aggressive
appearance. The front bumper features significantly larger air
intakes, inserts which are finished in a high-gloss black, as well as
more pronounced air curtains. If the Shadowline Package is selected,
the window frames and roof rails, as well as the BMW kidney grille
frame and bars are finished in high-gloss black. The sportier rear
bumper includes a more prominent diffuser finished in Dark Shadow
along with two additional side air-curtain-panels in high-gloss black.
New 19-inch light alloy Y-Spoke Midnight Grey Bicolor Style 887M
wheels 245/50R19 tires are included. 20-inch and 21-inch wheels are
additionally available, as are M Sport brakes with blue or red brake calipers.

X3 M40i Design

The BMW X3 M40i is further differentiates itself with a specific BMW
M kidney grille and M double grille bars in high-gloss black and an M
logo. Aerodynamically optimized M exterior mirrors in high-gloss black
and free-form tailpipe trim in black chrome and the striking “Two
Teeth” design ensure a distinctive look. The BMW X3 M40i is fitted
with 19-inch M light alloy Midnight Grey style 887M wheels. 20-inch
and 21-inch wheels are optional.

X3 Paint Finishes

The updated 2022 BMW X3 offers a choice of nine paint finishes,
including two non-metallic finishes - Alpine White and Black. Brooklyn
Grey metallic is new, joining the existing metallic finishes Carbon
Black, Black Sapphire, Dark Graphite, Mineral White and Phytonic Blue.
Also available for the first time for the BMW X3 is an BMW Individual
paint finish - Tanzanite Blue II metallic.

X4 Exterior Design

Since its launch, the 2nd generation BMW X4 has embodied
the perfect Sports Activity Coupe, with its outgoing persona, dynamic
performance and a commanding presence. The update hones the
distinctive character of the BMW X4 even further.

Like the BMW X3, significantly revised front and rear designs can be
found on the updated BMW X4 Sports Activity Coupe. The coupe adopts
the new front end of the BMW X3 with 0.4-inch thinner adaptive LED
headlights, along with a redesigned front bumper and the enlarged and
more striking BMW kidney grille. The BMW X4 has an exclusive
distinguishing feature in the form of a mesh kidney grille insert
found in other sporty BMW models. The mesh-inserts are finished in
satin-aluminum, while the frame is finished in pearlescent chrome as
before. As in the BMW X3, the headlight appearance can be changed with
the optional M Shadowline lights which are part of the Shadowline Package.

The typical BMW proportions of a long hood, flat windscreen and long
wheelbase give the BMW X4 a sporty appearance. It is 2.2-inches lower
than the BMW X3, 1.7-inches longer and 1.1-inches wider. Featuring
flat full LED rear lights that emphasize the vehicle’s width and
extend strikingly from the vehicle body in their three-dimensional
design, the rear section is now even more unique to the BMW X4. The
19-inch BMW aerodynamic Jet Black Bicolor Style 842 wheels are also
available as an option for the BMW X4.

M Sport Package for X4 xDrive30i

With the optional M Sport Package, the BMW mesh kidney grille’s frame
is finished in high-gloss black as are the kidney grille mesh inserts,
mirror caps, window frames and roof rails. M Shadowline lights are
included. The new rear bumper is from the BMW X4 M and features a
wide, offset lower trim insert in the shape of an anvil. Like the side
air-curtain-panels, this is finished in high-gloss black and gives a
powerful overall appearance. As with the BMW X3, the M Sports Package
includes the new 19-inch alloy Midnight Grey Bicolor Y-Spoke Style
887M wheels with 245/50R19 tires. Additional 19-inch and 20-inch and
21-inch wheels are optional.

X4 M40i Design

The BMW X4 M40i is based on the X3 M40i model in terms of looks and
standard equipment, and like it, includes the BMW M kidney grille and
double kidney bars finished in high-gloss black and M logo as well as
the aerodynamically optimized high-gloss black M exterior mirrors. In
addition to the rear bumper with the anvil-shaped insert and the air
curtain panels in high-gloss black, the BMW X4 M40i also features
free-form tailpipe trim in black chrome with the two “teeth”. Like the
BMW X3, the standard tires are 245/50R19 on 19-inch M light alloy
Midnight Grey Bicolor Y-Spoke Style 887M wheels. Additional 19-inch
and 20-inch and 21-inch wheels are optional.

X4 Paint Finishes

The ten paint finishes available for the new BMW X4 includes an
additional color over and above the nine paint finishes offered for
the BMW X3. The new metallic finish Piermont Red is available
exclusively for the Sports Activity Coupe.

X3 and X4 Interior Design

The updated BMW X3 and BMW X4 now welcome passengers with a
significantly revised ambience. The center console in the two X models
is drawn from the current BMW 4 Series. The free-standing, central
control display with touch function is now 10.25-inches in size in the
X3. Live Cockpit Professional updates the instrument cluster to a
12.3-inch digital display- and the 10.25-inch center control display
to 12.3-inches. Live Cockpit Professional is optional for the X3 and
standard in the X4.

Below the standard 10.25-inch touchscreen Control display is the
control panel for the standard 3-zone automatic air conditioning with
integrated center vents. In addition to buttons and rocker switches
for operating various automatic air conditioning functions, the heated
rear window and the heated seats, the control panel includes an LCD
display as well as a button each for activating the hazard warning
lights and for the driver assistance systems.

Repositioned below it is the audio control panel, which like the
redesigned center console is finished in high-gloss black. The center
console accommodates the newly designed control island with gear
selector lever, start/stop button, the electric parking brake, hill
descent control and various driving experience functions as well as
the BMW Controller. The surfaces are finished in matt black, while the
rotary knob of the BMW Controller has a galvanised rhombic structure.
This new control island in the BMW X3 and BMW X4 is drawn from the
current BMW 3 Series.

Sports Seats with new Perforated SensaTec Upholstery

The standard power Sport seats of the BMW X3 and BMW X4 have
pronounced side bolsters to enhance the sporty look and provide
improved lateral support in dynamic driving situations. The seats are
upholstered in high-quality perforated SensaTec. The new upholstery
offers a natural feel and a high-quality appearance while being easy
to clean.

On the X3, the interior is available in Black, Canberra Beige, Cognac
and Tacora Red SensaTec colors. An optional Vernasca leather interior
is available in Black, Oyster and Mocha. The X4 M40i includes
available Vernasca leather in Canberra Beige/black, Tacora Red and Cognac.

Extended Ambient Lighting

The optional Ambient Light features lighting above the decorative
trim in the dashboard and ambient lighting that shines gently
downwards below the accent trim to create a relaxing interior
atmosphere. When unlocking and locking the vehicle, the lighting in
the door trim panels flash, while a flashing light on the instrument
panel signals an incoming telephone call. An open door is indicated by
a red flashing light on the door in question; when the driver leaves
the vehicle, the ambient lighting switches off from the rear to the
front. If Comfort Access is also fitted in addition to the Ambient
Light option, the welcome function is also supported by the ambient
lighting switching on from the front to the rear. The brightness of
the ambient lighting can be adjusted independently of the interior
lighting. Eleven color ensembles, six colors (orange, lilac, mint,
bronze, blue and white) and functions such as “dimmed when driving at
night” is available in the menu of the central information display. In
the night design, the central monitor appears to float above the
instrument panel.

48-Volt Mild Hybrid System for 6-Cylinder Models

The new BMW X3 M40i and BMW X4 M40i gain the benefits of a 48-volt
mild hybrid-system. The mild hybrid technology draws on a powerful
48-volt starter/generator and an additional battery, so it has
significantly expanded possibilities when it comes to brake energy
recuperation. When the accelerator pedal is released, the generator
converts the kinetic energy into electricity, which is stored in the
48-volt battery. Recuperation in coasting mode is particularly intense
in SPORT mode.

The deceleration effect created in addition to the engine drag torque
is also harnessed during braking maneuvers. A specific braking system
from plug-in hybrid models always ensures an on-demand and
efficiency-optimized combination of electric and mechanical
deceleration. The energy obtained by means of recuperation and stored
in the 48-volt battery is used to supply the 12-volt electrical system
and the electrically operated vehicle functions connected to it as
well as generating additional drive power. For this purpose, the drive
power flows back to the 48-volt starter generator, which then takes on
the role of an electric drive and supports the combustion engine. This
enables the engine to run as often as possible in an
efficiency-optimized load range to reduce consumption peaks. The
48-volt starter generator also creates an electric boost during acceleration.

This instantly available additional output of 11 hp supports dynamic
power delivery. The result is optimized off-the-line starts as well as
an acceleration build-up during intermediate sprints. The powerful
starter generator also improves the start/stop system with lower
levels of vibration. This optimizes comfort when using the auto
start/stop function as well as the coasting function. If the vehicle
is slowed down when approaching a junction or the end of a traffic
jam, for example, the combustion engine can be switched off as soon as
the speed drops below 9 mph. Available at speeds of between 15 and 99
mph, the gliding function now also causes the engine to be switched
off completely instead of being disconnected from the drive train.

BMW TwinPower Turbocharged Engines

The 2.0-Liter 4-cylinder and 3.0-Liter inline 6-cylinder engines
found in the new BMW X3 and X4 feature BMW TwinPower Turbo technology
with TwinScroll turbocharging, direct high-precision injection, a
variable camshaft control system - double VANOS and a fully variable
valve control system – Valvetronic.

The BMW X3 sDrive, X3 xDrive30i and X4 xDrive30i models’ powertrain
deliver 248 hp @ 5,200 – 6,500 rpm and 258 lb-ft of torque between
1,450 – 4,800 rpm. This allows the 2.0-Liter X3 and X4 models to
accelerate from 0 – 60 mph in 6.0 seconds and reach a top speed of
either 130 mph.

The X3 M40i and X4 M40i models are propelled by 382 hp @ 5,800 –
6,500 rpm and 369 lb-ft of torque between 1,800 – 5,000 rpm. The
sprint from 0 to 60 mph takes just 4.4 seconds, on the way to a top
speed of either 130 mph or 155 mph, depending on the tire
specification chosen.

8-Speed Steptronic Automatic and xDrive All-Wheel Drive

All models feature a standard 8-speed Sport Steptronic transmission
specifically matched to the respective engine characteristics,
contributing to lower fuel consumption and reduced emissions with
their optimized efficiency. The Sport automatic includes
steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters.

BMW xDrive all-wheel drive makes a significant contribution to the
versatile capabilities of the new BMW X3 xDrive30i and BMW X4 models.
The latest edition of the system is characterized by reduced weight
and optimized internal efficiency. In addition, the precise electronic
control of the intelligent all-wheel drive ensures especially sporty
power distribution that is typical of the brand. Its rear-wheel-bias
makes dynamic cornering an exhilarating intense experience. BMW xDrive
optimizes both driving stability and traction over varied surface
conditions, including rough terrain.

Suspension Technology

The BMW X3 and X4 are tuned to deliver the perfect blend of agility
and ride comfort. When ordered with the optional Dynamic Handling
Package, variable sports steering is included along with the Dynamic
Damper Control and M sport brakes. Variable sport steering comes
standard on the more aggressively tuned BMW X4. The design of the
electromechanical power steering, with its set-up geared towards
dynamic driving characteristics, ensures high precision when cornering
as well as providing excellent straight-line stability. The speed
sensitive Servotronic power steering allows for more comfortable
maneuvering. With the optional Dynamic Damper Control, the
electronically controlled shocks adapt to both road conditions and
driving style. For either a sporty or comfortable basic set-up, there
is a choice of two settings that can be activated using the driving
experience switch.

In addition to the anti-lock braking system (ABS) and Dynamic
Traction Control (DTC), the range of functions also includes the ADB-X
electronic differential lock, CBC Cornering Brake Control, DBC Dynamic
Brake Control, start-off assistant and HDC Hill Descent Control.
Performance Control – a standard feature in the BMW X3 equipped with
the M Sport Package, as well as all BMW X4 models – increases agility
by distributing drive torque to the rear wheels depending on the situation.

Special Dynamic Performance from the M40i Models.

The X3 M40i and X4 M40i come equipped with a standard flap-controlled
M sports exhaust system, M sport brakes and adaptive M suspension. The
adaptive M suspension offers greater adjustments between ride comfort
and sportiness. In addition, the BMW xDrive all-wheel drive system is
tuned for a more rear-oriented torque split. Integrated in DSC and
acting on the rear wheels, Performance Control has been given a new
set-up to provide the typical M level of dynamics, agility and traction.

Aerodynamic Fine-Tuning

With a drag coefficient from just 0.29, the BMW X3 and BMW X4 boast
the best levels in their segment. The reduction of air resistance not
only helps reduce fuel consumption; it also offers benefits in terms
of noise comfort. In addition to aerodynamically optimized vehicle
proportions, the two models feature an underbody with additional
covering. Further details such as the roof spoiler with lateral aero
edges and the active air flap control round off the range of
aerodynamic measures. The latter system controls the cooling air for
the engine, brakes and air conditioning more dynamically and in
addition to the aerodynamic benefits offers further savings potential
in terms of energy and heat management.

Driver Assistance Systems

The updated 2022 BMW X3 and X4 feature an expanded the range of
advanced driver assistance systems to enhance both comfort and safety.
An updated Driving Assistant Professional package offers the driver
comfortable relief and increased safety in driving situations where
there is a conscious desire for assistance. The optional Parking
Assistance package now also includes Traffic Jam assist for limited
access highways and Back-Up assistant, which helps retrace your way in
tight or challenging situations.

The new BMW X3 and X4’s numerous driver assistance systems process
camera images and data collected by ultrasonic and radar sensors.
Standard systems include cruise control with braking function, as well
as front collision warning with braking function for vehicles,
pedestrians and cyclists, Lane Departure warning and Active Blind Spot detection.

Optional Driving Assistant Professional

The Driving Assistance Professional package includes Active Driving
Assistant which combines Active cruise control with Stop &
Go-function and Active Lane Keeping assist with side collision
avoidance. This radar-based system keeps you in your recognized lane
and keeps your preselected distance from the vehicle ahead with
autonomous braking, if needed. Also included in the package are
front-cross-cross traffic alert, Active Lane Keeping Assist with side
collision avoidance and Evasion Aid.

Active Lane Keeping assist helps the driver keep to the center of the
lane by means of corrective steering interventions and now also works
in narrower roads. For this purpose, it now recognizes necessary lane
changes ahead as part of active navigation guidance and supports the
driver in keeping to the route calculated by the navigation system
when on multi-lane roads. When approaching a junction or exit, a
display in the instrument cluster indicates the need for a lane
change, which the driver can then carry out using the lane change assistant.

The 3D environment visualization Assisted View in the instrument
cluster provides an overview of which assistance systems are activated
and what functions they offer. In a three-dimensional representation
of the vehicle and its surroundings, passenger cars, trucks and
motorcycles detected by cameras and sensors are shown on the lane
currently being used as well as on any neighbouring lanes. Vehicles
moving within a critical distance are highlighted. Graphic symbols
indicate driving maneuvers that can be initiated in the given
situation using the assistance systems available.

BMW Live Cockpit Plus with 10.25-inch Control Display

BMW Live Cockpit Plus is standard on the new X3 and is based on the
intelligent networking and innovative digital services of BMW iDrive
7. The driver can configure up to ten pages of live content on the
Control Display in the main menu, each with two to four pads (tiles);
what is more, greater personalization of content and displays is now
possible, too. Intuitive multi-modal operation has been further
optimized: depending on the situation, the driver has a choice between
touch operation on the Control Display, the tried-and-tested iDrive
Controller, the multifunction buttons on the steering wheel and voice
control. Digital services include the BMW Intelligent Personal
Assistant, Connected Music and Remote Software Upgrade.

BMW Live Cockpit Plus includes a 10.25-inch digital touch Control
Display and a Touch Controller, as well as an instrument cluster in

ports for data transfer and a WLAN interface. A permanently installed
SIM card with 4G LTE Connectivity and the Connected Package
Professional, which enables the use of digital services such as BMW
TeleServices, Intelligent Emergency Call, Real Time Traffic
Information including hazard warning, Remote Services and much more
besides. BMW Live Cockpit Plus can optionally be supplemented with the
BMW Head-Up Display: this projects driving-related information in full
color onto the windscreen, in other words directly into the driver’s
field of vision.

BMW Live Cockpit Professional with 12.3-Inch Displays

BMW Live Cockpit Professional with iDrive 7 offers a
fully digital display network: the high-resolution instrument cluster
behind the steering wheel and the Control Display each have a screen
size of 12.3-inches. The fully digital instrument display has space
for a navigation map section, media content, status displays for the
driver assistance systems or the 3D environment visualisation Assisted
View. It is optional on the BMW X3 and standard on the BMW X4.

New Generation of Navigation with BMW Maps

One of the most important innovations in the area of digital services
is BMW Maps, which is included with Live Cockpit Professional. The
cloud-based system enables significant performance improvements, a
high degree of accuracy and simplified destination entry. The
new-generation navigation system offers extremely fast and dynamic
route calculation based on precise real-time traffic data delivered at
short intervals. The arrival time is calculated in advance, taking
into account traffic volume along the entire route. Comprehensive
traffic data is now also available for smaller roads. The selection of
a destination can be made by free text input, and search results are
then sorted according to relevance. Alternatively, the destination can
be entered conveniently by means of voice input. So-called points of
interest (POI) along the route are described in more detail – complete
with ratings, opening hours and photos.

In addition, BMW Maps with Connected Parking provides drivers with
even more detailed support in the search for a vacant parking space
near their destination. When selecting the navigation destination, the
driver receives an indication of the parking situation at their
destination at the predicted time of arrival Shortly before arrival,
helpful information about the nearest car park is provided, along with
suggestions for a route on which there is a greater likelihood of
finding a parking space near the destination. The familiar On-Street
Parking Information and ParkNow services are intelligently integrated
into the functional range of BMW Maps.

Smartphone Connectivity and Integration of 3rd Party Services

BMW has always taken a leading role in connecting the vehicle with
the customer’s digital ecosystem. For example, BMW was the first
company in the industry to comprehensively integrate the iPod into its
vehicles, offer Apple CarPlay on a completely wireless basis and
implement the keyless vehicle access system Digital Key with the Apple iPhone.

BMW Live Cockpit Plus and BMW Live Cockpit Professional offer
optimized smartphone integration, for example via Apple CarPlay. This
allows the use of a variety of digital services such as Siri, various
map apps, music streaming services such as Apple Music and the
messaging service WhatsApp. The systems are integrated directly in the
display and operating system via a wireless LAN connection between the
smartphone and the vehicle. The driver can view all the important
information from the apps on the Control Display and – in
intelligently processed form – in the instrument cluster and the
optional BMW Head-Up Display.

With Android Auto™, the BMW Group has added another customer-relevant
service to its range of seamless in-vehicle connectivity. Android Auto
in a BMW offers safe, straightforward use of smartphone functions such
as music, media or messaging apps while driving. With the help of
Google Assistant, the customer can interact with their smartphone and
the actions performed are shown on the vehicle’s information display.
Highlights of the interaction between Android Auto and BMW include
convenient and wireless networking and the intelligent integration of
Google Maps™ navigation instructions in the BMW Head-up Display.

Integration of Amazon Alexa makes it possible to use Amazon’s voice
service inside the vehicle in the same way as the customer is already
used to doing at home. Editing shopping lists, checking messages and
playing music is now even easier. It is also possible to control
compatible smart home devices from inside the vehicle. With the help
of the My BMW app, Amazon Alexa can be installed in the vehicle in
just a few steps.

The My BMW app is available in over 40 countries for both iOS and
Android operating systems and can be downloaded free of charge from
the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. As a new universal
interface to the vehicle, it always provides information about the
vehicle’s condition. Depending on which equipment options are fitted,
it also enables remote access functions such as vehicle location,
locking and unlocking the doors or recording the vehicle’s
surroundings (Remote 3D View). Also, destination addresses can be sent
from the smartphone to the vehicle’s navigation system, for example.
The range of functions for electrified vehicles has also been
expanded; one example here is that the electrically powered range is
displayed even more clearly.

The My BMW app also makes it even easier for customers to log in to
any current BMW model using their personal BMW ID. For example, the
user information and settings stored in the BMW ID can now also be
transferred to the vehicle very conveniently by scanning a QR code
displayed on the central screen.

Enhanced BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant

The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant is constantly being enhanced
with additional capabilities, creating a more direct bond between
driver and vehicle. With the digital companion activated by voice
control (e.g. “Hey BMW”) or at the touch of a button, naturally spoken
instructions can now be used to regulate the air conditioning, open
and close the windows or change the driving experience switch modes,
for instance. The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant can also be used
to access the new News app – which enables passengers to have the
latest news read out loud to them – and it is able to learn routines
that enhance both comfort and driving pleasure in certain situations.
For example, the side window on the driver’s side can be automatically
opened on arrival at a selected location defined via GPS coordinates –
such as a garage entrance. The system also recognises whether it is
being addressed by the driver or the front passenger and reacts
accordingly – for example by adjusting the air conditioning on one
side only. With the integration of Amazon Alexa Car, the BMW X3 and X4
also have access to more than 100,000 Amazon Skills.

Remote Software Upgrade

Since 2018 and the introduction of BMW iDrive 7, it has been possible
for drivers of BMW models to keep their vehicle constantly up to date
with the latest software status using Remote Software Upgrade. The BMW
Group is one of the key drivers in the field of functional
over-the-air upgrades. Among European car manufacturers, BMW Group
carried out the largest-scale upgrade campaigns in 2020. Thanks to
Remote Software Upgrade, the BMW X3 and BMW X4 also remain
consistently up to date with the latest software. The upgrades can
include content ranging from new services to improved vehicle
functions and can be downloaded “over-the-air”, either via the My BMW
app on a smartphone or directly into the vehicle via the SIM card
installed in it.

Woodcliff Lake, NJ –
November 4, 2019…Today, BMW announces the newest
Plug-In Hybrid member of the X family of Sports Activity Vehicles: the
X3 xDrive30e. This is the first time a PHEV model has been available
in the X3 line. Combining a 2.0-liter TwinPower turbocharged gasoline
engine with BMW’s eDrive technology featuring an electric motor and 12
kWh high-voltage battery, the new X3 PHEV achieves an estimated EPA 60
MPGe and offers up to 18 miles of emissions-free electric driving.

The X3 xDrive30e is built at Plant Spartanburg, South Carolina, BMW
Group’s largest global production plant. In mid-2019, Plant
Spartanburg more than doubled its production capacity for the
fourth-generation high-voltage batteries used in the X3 and upcoming
X5 PHEV models.

BMW eDrive Powertrain

A 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder BMW TwinPower Turbo engine developing 181 hp
@ 4,000 – 6,500 rpm and 258 lb.-ft. of torque @ 1,450 – 3,500 rpm is
complemented by an electric traction motor, mounted within the
transmission housing, developing 107 hp at 3,140 rpm and 77 lb.-ft. of
torque @ 0 – 3,170 rpm. The combined power output is 288 hp and 310
lb.-ft. of torque.

A high-voltage 34 Ah / 12 kWh gross (9.09 kWh net) lithium-ion
battery module located underneath the rear seats provides the storage
capacity for electric-only and hybrid-mode driving. The PHEV variant
of the X3 offers only 1.5 less cubic feet of volume behind the rear
seats due to the careful packaging of the battery and fuel tank.

In the HYBRID driving mode, the new X3 xDrive30e can operate at
speeds up to 68 mph on electric power alone. Emissions-free and
fuel-free ELECTRIC mode allows driving at up to 84 mph. The standard
Active Protection for Pedestrians features an exterior speaker system
to generate an unmistakable sound created specifically for electrified
BMWs when operating in electric-only mode at speeds up to 20 mph.

Driver Assistance Systems

The new X3 xDrive30e offers standard and optional systems to
enhance both comfort and safety. Standard are the Active Guard Package
with Daytime Pedestrian Detection and Frontal Collision warning with
City Collision mitigation and the Active Protection Package with
Automatic front seat belt tensioning, Automatic closing of windows and
moonroof, Fatigue and Focus alert and Post-crash braking.

The optional Driving Assistance Package includes Lane Departure
Warning and Active Blind Spot Detection systems, which help the driver
to guide the car back onto the correct path with a steering input. The
Driving Assistant’s functions also include Rear Cross-Traffic Alert,
thereby reducing the risk of a collision when reversing into roads
that are obstructed from the driver’s view.

The optional Driving Assistant Plus Package offers
the full complement of advanced assistance systems including Active
Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Traffic Jam Assistant, Active Lane
Keeping Assistant with side collision avoidance, Evasion Aid and Front
Cross-Traffic Alert.

BMW iDrive 7

The standard BMW Live Cockpit Professional features iDrive 7, a
12.3-inch high-resolution digital instrument cluster display and a
10.25-inch digital touch screen Control Display with Navigation, BMW
Intelligent Personal Assistant and wireless Apple CarPlay
compatibility. This latest generation of BMW iDrive delivers intuitive
multimodal interaction between driver and vehicle using a combination
of voice, touch screen or haptic iDrive rotary controller or steering
wheel controls.

Exterior Colors

The new, higher performing, fourth-generation batteries will be assembled on-site for the BMW X5 and BMW X3 plug-in hybrid electric variants. The 2020 BMW X5 xDrive45e Sports Activity Vehicle will begin production in Spartanburg, SC, on August 1. Start of production of the BMW X3 xDrive30e will begin in December. With the expansion of the battery facility at Plant Spartanburg in the U.S., the BMW Group is following the principle of local value creation. “We have invested approximately $10 million USD to install a new battery assembly line and expanded the area to 86,000 square feet. This means we could double the number of batteries produced if needed to meet market demand,” explains Michael Nikolaides, senior vice president engines and electrified drivetrains, BMW Group.</pp:summary>

prior to the debuts of the plug-in hybrid electric variants of two of
its most popular models. The new, higher performing,
fourth-generation batteries will be assembled on-site for the BMW X5
and BMW X3 plug-in hybrid electric variants. The 2020 BMW X5
xDrive45e Sports Activity Vehicle will begin production in
Spartanburg, SC, on August 1. Production of the BMW X3 xDrive30e will
begin in December.

With the expansion of the battery facility at Plant Spartanburg in
the U.S., the BMW Group is following the principle of local value
creation. “We have invested approximately $10 million USD to install a
new battery assembly line and expanded the area to 86,000 square feet.
This means we could double the number of batteries produced if needed
to meet market demand,” explains Michael Nikolaides, senior vice
president engines and electrified drivetrains, BMW Group.

In addition, BMW Group has invested a further $10 million USD to
support the production of the new PHEV models.

More than 120 employees were specially trained to work the new line,
having completed an extensive program in battery production, robotics
and electrical inline quality inspection along with end-of-line
testing. An additional 225 vehicle assembly workers received training
in the production of electrified vehicles, adding to the Plant’s
already skilled staff.

“We have assembled batteries on site at Plant Spartanburg since
2015, making BMW Group a pioneer of electromobility in the U.S.,” said
Knudt Flor, president and CEO, BMW Manufacturing, Co, LLC. “The BMW X5
and X3 are currently among the best-selling BMW models in the U.S. and
we anticipate that their PHEV variants will also be well-received by
BMW customers.”

From 2015 – 2018, BMW Group Plant Spartanburg produced the X5
xDrive40e, the first plug-in hybrid production car from the BMW core
brand. All totaled, the plant’s battery assembly team assembled more
than 45,000 batteries during this four-year period.

BMW Group Plant Spartanburg is the global center of competence for
BMW Sports Activity Vehicles and Coupes and produces BMW X3, X4, X5,
X6 and X7 models and their variants. Since starting production 25
years ago, the plant has built more than 4.6 million BMW vehicles for
the U.S. market and the world. In 2018, data from the U.S. Department
of Commerce confirmed that BMW Manufacturing was the largest
automotive exporter by value for the fifth consecutive year.

seater has increased power and range over its predecessor and has been
the world’s best-selling hybrid sports car since 2014. Using optimized
BMW eDrive technology, and with hybrid-specific all-wheel drive,

driving the front wheels, the BMW i8 Coupe achieves 369 hp (12 hp more

the all-new BMW i8 Coupe is the BMW i8 Roadster,
which made its world debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November
2017. The BMW i8 Roadster takes the BMW i8’s combination of locally
emission-free mobility and high-caliber performance and adds a
top-down driving experience. The BMW i8 Roadster features a
retractable, all-season fabric soft-top which can open and close in
less than 16 seconds and while the vehicle is in motion at up to 31
mph. The two-seat BMW i8 Roadster stows its soft-top in the

mobility with zero emissions and features a high output 184 hp
electric motor that generates peak torque of 199 lb-ft. The BMW i3s

The BMW X3 is the third generation of the pioneering
premium compact Sports Activity Vehicle. The dynamic handling
qualities of the BMW X3 are linked to its ideal 50:50 weight
distribution between the front and rear axles, its meticulously honed
chassis, and xDrive, BMW’s intelligent all-wheel-drive system which
debuted in 2003 in the first generation of the BMW X3. The BMW X3 uses
a 2.0 liter TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder inline gasoline engine and an

The BMW M5 has been regarded as the quintessential
high performance sports sedan since its initial iteration launched in
1984. The 2018 BMW M5 marks the debut of the first ever M-specific
all-wheel drive system, M xDrive, which allows the BMW M5 to reach new
heights of dynamic performance and delivers poise in all driving
situations. Thanks to a 4.4-liter V8 engine featuring M TwinPower
Turbo technology, the BMW M5 produces 600 hp and 553 lb-ft of peak
torque, skyrocketing from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.2 seconds, making it
the quickest and most agile to date. The 2018 BMW M5 will be available

The 2019 BMW i8 Coupe also makes its world debut at
the North American International Auto Show. The enhanced hybrid 2+2
seater has increased power and range over its predecessor and has been
the world’s best-selling hybrid sports car since 2014. Using optimized
BMW eDrive technology, and with hybrid-specific all-wheel drive,
combustion engine driving the rear wheels and the electric motor
driving the front wheels, the BMW i8 Coupe achieves 369 hp (12 hp more
than its predecessor), a peak torque of 184 lb-ft, and accelerates
from 0-60 mph in just 4.2 seconds (preliminary) with a top speed of
155 mph. The lithium-ion battery, located centrally in the car’s
underbody, and its cell capacity has been increased from 20 to 34 Ah
and a gross energy capacity from 7.1 to 11.6 kilowatt hours. Also
showcased alongside the all-new BMW i8 Coupe will be the BMW
i8 Roadster, which made its world debut at the Los Angeles
Auto Show in November 2017. The BMW i8 Roadster takes the BMW i8’s
combination of locally emission-free mobility and high-caliber
performance and adds a top-down driving experience. The BMW i8
Roadster features a retractable, all-season fabric soft-top which can
open and close in less than 16 seconds and while the vehicle is in
motion at up to 31 mph. The two-seat BMW i8 Roadster stows its
soft-top in the perpendicular position in the rear of the vehicle when
opened and takes up very little space, maximizing storage capacity.
The new BMW i8 Coupe and BMW i8 Roadster will be available in spring
2018. Pricing will be announced closer to market launch. BMW

The new BMW i3s is a sportier and more powerful
variant of the BMW i3, the best-selling compact battery-electric
vehicle in the premium compact segment worldwide since it launched in
2014. The first ever BMW i3s provides an even sportier interpretation
of silent mobility with zero emissions and features a high output 184
hp electric motor that generates peak torque of 199 lb-ft. The BMW i3s
accelerates from 0-60 mph in 6.8 seconds and has a top speed of 100
mph. The BMW i3s uses a lithium-ion high-voltage battery developed by
the BMW Group with a cell capacity of 94-ampere hours (Ah). Like the
BMW i3, the BMW i3s applies the concept of sustainability throughout
the interior and exterior of the vehicle, incorporating recycled
plastics, renewable raw materials, natural fibers, and open-pored,
unbleached eucalyptus wood in the design. BMW

The BMW X7 iPerformance Concept introduces a new
model concept for the premium segment that utilizes BMW eDrive
technology with a BMW TwinPower Turbo engine creating an exceptionally
efficient and dynamic plug-in hybrid powertrain that excels in all
driving situations, including running with zero local emissions. With
a generously-sized, six-person interior, the BMW X7 iPerformance
Concept offers an interior with a state-of-the-art infotainment system
brimming with connectivity that provide an unmatched experience by any
BMW past or present. As a result of the interplay between precise,
pared-down forms and an open sense of space, the driver and passengers
are immersed in a unique, modern setting. The production model of the
BMW X7 will debut in 2018. BMW

The first-ever BMW M3 CS made its world debut at the
Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2017. It is a special-edition model
and delivers a blend of high performance and complete everyday
practicality. The extensive use of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic has
kept the BMW M3 CS extremely light and lowered the overall weight by
approximately 110 pounds less than a standard BMW M3. The M TwinPower
Turbo technology 6-cylinder inline engine produces 453 hp generating a
peak torque of 443 lb-ft and accelerates from 0-60 mph in just 3.7
seconds, making it the quickest BMW M3 to date. The BMW M3 CS will be
available to order in the U.S. starting in May 2018. Pricing will be
announced closer to market launch. BMW

The 2018 BMW M5 will be available
with a MSRP of $102,600 plus $995 Destination and Handling, appearing
in U.S. showrooms in spring 2018. BMW

The 2018 BMW X3 is the third generation of the
pioneering premium compact Sports Activity Vehicle. The dynamic
handling qualities of the BMW X3 are linked to its ideal 50:50 weight
distribution between the front and rear axles, its meticulously honed
chassis, and xDrive, BMW’s intelligent all-wheel-drive system which
debuted in 2003 in the first generation of the BMW X3. The BMW X3 uses
a 2.0 liter TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder inline gasoline engine and an
8-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission yielding 248 hp and a
maximum torque of 258 lb-ft, accelerating from 0-60 in 6.0 seconds
with a top speed of 130 mph. The BMW X3 is available in U.S. showrooms
with a MSRP of $42,450 plus $995 Destination and Handling. BMW

Woodcliff Lake, NJ –
June 26, 2017 10:00 am EDT / 7:00 am PDT
… The all-new 2018 BMW X3 was unveiled today at BMW
Plant Spartanburg, SC, where it will be produced alongside the BMW X4,
BMW X5, and BMW X6. BMW is at home in Spartanburg, SC producing
411,171 BMW X models last year, making it the largest BMW Group’s
global production facility with approximately 70 percent of the
vehicles exported to 140 markets worldwide, thereby making BMW the
largest vehicle exporter in the U.S. by value. BMW Plant Spartanburg
has a deep level of localization, and provides and supports nearly
70,000 jobs in the U.S. In 2003, the BMW X3 was the car that launched
the premium compact SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle) segment. Since then,
BMW has recorded more than 1.5 million vehicles worldwide and 378,803
in the US alone. Today, the all-new BMW X3 is set to write the next
chapter in this success story with a more striking, dynamic design
language, powerful yet efficient drive systems with a luxurious
appeal. Like all members of the successful X family, it blends
standout-driving qualities on any terrain with unrestricted everyday usability.

The all-new 2018 BMW X3 will be available at certified BMW Centers
this November with pricing to be announced closer to market launch.

The exterior design with new distinctive looks.

The all-new BMW X3 elevates the already boldly dynamic design
language of its predecessor. The third generation of the pioneering
premium compact Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) treads a familiar BMW X
family path in combining rugged off-road looks with generous presence.
The exterior dimensions of the all-new BMW X3 may be largely
unchanged, however, the wheelbase has been extended by 2.2-inches and
its long hood, extremely short front overhang with finely balanced
proportions, emphasize the perfect 50:50 weight distribution between
the front and rear axle.

For the first time on a BMW X model, the front fascia features a
muscular “three-dimensional” kidney grille and fog lights featuring a
hexagonal design, underlining the confident character of the all-new
BMW X3. Moving to the rear, the tail light housings whose
three-dimensional look with the optional Adaptive LED and Icon
Adaptive Full LED Headlights, give them considerable visual impact. A
downward-sloping roof spoiler and twin exhaust tailpipes add to the
muscular appearance.

First ever factory-installed trailer hitch available in a BMW SAV.

The all-new BMW X3 will be the first BMW SAV in the US to feature a
factory-installed trailer hitch. The new 2” receiver will enable
customers to use a broad range of BMW Accessories including tongues,
drop tongues, towing balls, a step to help access roof mounted
accessories and several varieties of bike racks.

Standard xLine design, available Luxury Package.

The standard xLine design emphasizes the robustness of the Sports
Activity Vehicle and stands out with numerous trim elements in Satin
aluminum, Silver matte, and 18-inch Y-Spoke wheels with All-season Run
Flat Tires (19-inch V-Spoke wheels with All-season Run Flat Tires are
available as an upgrade option). On the interior, the driver and front
passenger are

welcomed by standard Sport Seats with power adjustable side bolsters,
and an Anthracite headliner.

The optional Luxury Package, available for the first time in the X3
model range, emphasizes the SAV’s elegant character with features such
as chrome kidney grille bars and two-tone front & rear bumper trim
finishers on the exterior and a SensaTec upholstered dashboard on the interior.

M Sport Package.

The M Sport Package focuses its attentions on the dynamic prowess of
the all-new BMW X3 with the M Aerodynamic kit (front apron with larger
air intakes, side skirt trim, and a diffusor-style rear apron). Also
included are Shadowline exterior trim and 19-inch M Double-Spoke
Wheels with All-season Run Flat Tires or Performance Run Flat Tires.
For customers seeking the most dynamic BMW X3, M Double-Spoke 20-inch
Wheels with Mixed Performance Run Flat Tires are available as an
upgrade option. The interior includes a new M Sport leather steering
wheel, M door sill finishers and a SensaTec upholstered dashboard.

Interior and equipment: improved material quality and ergonomics.

The interior of the all-new BMW X3 follows BMW tradition with its
driver-focused and ergonomically optimized cockpit layout and carries
over many aspects of the car’s exterior design. For instance,
hexagonal forms and precise, sloping edges also play a central role in
the interior. The interior as a whole displays exceptional material
quality, fit, and finish, with carefully thought ergonomics. One
example here is the storage concept, which offers more storage space
than ever before and ensures it is easier to access.

The all-new BMW X3 comes standard with several new, comfort enhancing
features not offered on its predecessor. These include 3-zone
automatic climate control, which adds separate temperature controls
for the rear compartment to those for the driver and front passenger.
To enhance rear compartment comfort, the angle of the standard
40:20:40 split/folding rear seat backrests can be adjusted
individually and through various stages thanks to the standard cargo
function. This feature also allows the backrests to be released
remotely from the load compartment, which expands the standard load
capacity of 28.7 ft3 to 62.7 ft3. Newly
available convenient functions include front ventilated seats for
driver and front passenger to maximize comfort on warm days. Customers
can also give the interior a roomier feel with the 9.8-inch longer
panoramic glass moonroof.

Contour lighting above the trim strip in the instrument panel is
included with the available Extended Ambient Lighting, which directs a
soft stream of light downwards from below the accent strip, lights the
interior in a distinctive and relaxing ambience. At night, the iDrive
display appears to be floating above the instrument panel. Customers
can choose from six color tones.

Enhanced active prowess and improved comfort over all terrain.

The dynamic handling qualities of the all-new BMW X3 are directly
linked to its ideal 50:50 weight distribution, its meticulously honed
chassis and xDrive, BMW’s Intelligent all-wheel-drive system, which
made its debut in 2003 when the first generation of the BMW X3
originally launched. Not only has the system been offering superior
grip on slippery surfaces ever since, it has had a beneficial effect
on driving dynamics too. This system is networked with the Dynamic
Stability Control (DSC) allowing the power split between all four
wheels to be constantly varied, providing the handling characteristics
for which BMW is renowned.

The new Driving Dynamics Control toggle switch now also offers
Adaptive Mode when the vehicle is equipped with Dynamic Damper Control
in addition to configurations such as, ECO PRO, COMFORT, SPORT and
SPORT+ (M40i model only) modes.

Chassis dynamics: reduced mass and improved axle kinematics.

The 3rd generation of the BMW X3 continues to rely on its
winning formula of a double-joint spring strut front axle and a
five-link rear set-up at the rear. At the same time, this refreshingly
engaging Sports Activity Vehicle delivers an even sportier driving
experience than its predecessor without compromising on ride comfort.
The engineers have succeeded in reducing a considerable amount in
unsprung mass by fitting aluminum swivel bearings and lighter tubular
anti-roll bars as well as optimizing wheel location at the front.
Handling dynamics, straight-line stability and steering feel have all
benefited from the improved axle kinematics and the Electric Power
Steering system with Servotronic.

In an effort to improve handling dynamics, the rear bias of BMW’s
xDrive all-wheel-drive system has been increased. Intelligent AWD
management constantly adjusts the torque bias as the driving situation
demands ensuring optimum driving dynamics.

In its basic specification, the all-new BMW X3 comes with 18-inch
light-alloy wheels while wheels up to 21 inches in diameter are
available depending on the equipment and engine variant. The powerful
braking system features lightweight brakes offering optimized
performance as well as an Electric Parking Brake. A broad array of
electronic control systems help the driver maximize safety at all
times. These systems include: Driving Stability Control (DSC),
Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC),
Automatic Differential Brake (ADB-X), Cornering Brake Control (CBC),
Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), Start-Off Assistant, Performance Control,
and Hill Descent Control (HDC).

The all-new BMW X3 M40i. First M Performance model in the X3
model line-up with best in segment acceleration.

The first ever M Performance model in the X3 lineup sets new
standards with its sharper dynamics, high level of exclusivity and
standout emotional appeal. The 3.0-liter M Performance TwinPower Turbo
technology 6-cylinder inline engine ensures the all-new BMW X3 M40i
sits at the top end of the model range. Output of 355 hp propels the
flagship X3 from 0 to 60 mph in a best in segment time of 4.6 seconds.
The X3 M40i also includes a wealth of model-specific set-up and
equipment features, which both underpin and lend added impact to the
exceptional performance credentials of this SAV.

The BMW X3 M40i is equipped with an 8-speed Steptronic Sport
automatic transmission with Launch Control. This transmission is a
perfect match for the engine’s dynamic characteristics and can be
operated using shift paddles on the steering wheel. In addition, its
xDrive all-wheel-drive system has a far more pronounced rear bias than
on the other model versions. The Performance Control feature
integrated into the DSC system and acting on the rear wheels has been
reconfigured to produce agility and traction for which M Performance
models are known for. Moving into the cabin, Sport seats and “M40i”
logos adorning, for instance, the front door sills and instrument
panel, provide visual emphasis of the car’s performance capabilities.

Among these features are the standard – and strikingly dynamic – M
Performance-specific exterior design cues, which include the M
Aerodynamic kit with design elements finished in Cerium Grey Metallic.
The flap-controlled M Sport exhaust system with Black Chrome tailpipe
embellishers, M Sport brakes, M Sport suspension with M Performance
specific tuning, Variable sport steering and standard 19-inch or
optional 20-inch and 21-inch cast light-alloy wheels provide a
distinctive sporting character. The X3 M40i can be equipped with the
available Adaptive M Sport suspension, which covers an even wider
spread of ride comfort featuring the sportiest set-up suspension available.

Dynamic options: M Sport suspension, Dynamic Damper Control,

M Sport brakes and Variable sport steering.

The M Sports suspension, which is standard on the M40i model, offers
the keen driver a firmer suspension (springs, dampers and anti-roll
bars). Adaptive M Suspension is optionally available on the M40i
model, offering electronically controlled dampers and even sportier
suspension settings. Similarly, Dynamic Damper Control is available on
the 30i model, and includes electronically controlled dampers that
adapt the damper responses to the road surface and driving situation.
At the same time, the driver can use the Driving Dynamics Control
toggle switch to vary the basic suspension characteristics as they
please between the more comfortable and sportier ends of the scale.

M Sport brakes are standard on the all-new BMW X3 M40i and feature
blue-painted aluminum four-piston fixed calipers at the front and
amply proportioned brake discs have high levels of thermal resistance
to deliver phenomenal stopping power despite their extremely low
weight. The standard Variable sport steering from the BMW X3 M40i is
optionally available on the BMW X3 xDrive30i model.

Perfectly at home on rough terrain.

The all-new BMW X3 boasts the same off-road skills as its
predecessor. The high ground clearance of 8 inches helps to ensure
unhindered progress, not only when travelling along rutted gravel or
sand tracks, over churned-up ground or in deep snow, but also on city
roads while going over speed bumps. The approach angle (23.1°) and
departure angle (21.4°) of the all-new BMW X3 together with its
breakover angle of 17.4° create plenty of margin for negotiating steep
sections or crests. Moreover, with a fording depth of 19.6 inches, the
BMW X3 can tackle water crossings with ease as well.

The powertrain: Latest generation 4 and 6-cylinder inline engines.

The all-new BMW X3 line-up from launch consists of BMW TwinPower
Turbo technology 2.0-liter 4-cylinder inline gasoline engine with
Double-VANOS variable camshaft timing and Valvetronic fully variable
intake lift, a map-controlled oil pump, electric arc wire-sprayed
cylinder barrels, Twin-scroll exhaust turbocharger and electrically
adjustable waste gate valve. The latest M Performance model, the BMW
X3 M40i comes with a 3.0-liter M Performance TwinPower Turbo
6-cylinder inline gasoline engine. The intake manifold integrated
indirect charge air intercooler allows for a lower charge air volume
between the compressor and intake valves, noticeably improving engine
response. This translates to shorter air routing, faster boost
pressure build-up, and throttle response.

Both engines come from the latest generation of BMW engines.
Improvements have also been made to both the 8-speed Steptronic Sport
automatic transmission with shift paddles and the BMW xDrive
intelligent all-wheel-drive system to increase efficiency.

The BMW X3 M40i: new flagship model.

The all-new BMW X3 M40i heralds the arrival of the first ever M
Performance Automobile in this model series. Power comes from a new M
Performance TwinPower Turbo 6-cylinder inline engine, which blends its
insatiable appetite for revs and sublime pulling power with exemplary
smoothness and efficiency. The 3.0-liter unit generates power output
of 355 hp from 5,500 – 6,500 rpm. Peak torque of 369 lb-ft from 1,520
– 4,800 rpm, provide a 69 lb-ft – or 23 percent – increase (compared
to the outgoing BMW X3 xDrive35i). This performance arsenal equips the
all-new BMW X3 M40i to a best in segment sprint from 0 to 60 mph in
4.6 seconds and hit a top speed of 155 mph.

The BMW X3 xDrive30i. More power. More efficient.

The 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder gasoline engine in the
all-new BMW X3 xDrive30i has an output of 248 hp (8 hp more than the
outgoing BMW X3 xDrive28i). Maximum torque has of 258 lb-ft is on tap
between just 1,450 and 4,800 rpm. The all-new BMW X3 xDrive30i reaches
60 mph from rest in 6.0 seconds and has a top speed of 130 mph

8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission with shift paddles.

All models come standard with an 8-speed Steptronic Sport
transmission with shift paddles. In the BMW X3 xDrive30i, the
transmission tuning is matched to the engine’s specific performance
characteristics, while the X3 M40i model’s transmission has been tuned
to M Performance specifications. The transmission is designed to be
even more efficient, helping to lower fuel consumption and emissions.

BMW xDrive: further improvements in terms of efficiency and weight.

The all-new BMW X3 is equipped with xDrive intelligent all-wheel
drive as standard. The new model generation enjoys the benefits of
both a more efficient and lighter rear differential, and a modified
transfer case, which made its debut in the current BMW 7 Series,
operates more efficiently, providing another fuel-saving measure.

Aerodynamic development results in improved drag coefficient.

Reducing aerodynamic drag not only helps to lower fuel consumption,
it also has a beneficial effect on noise levels. Besides its
aerodynamically optimized proportions, the all-new BMW X3 also
features additional underbody cladding, for example, that provides
unprecedented underbody sealing. Additional refinements, such as the
BMW Active Kidney Grille, roof spoiler with Aero Blades at the sides,
and BMW Air Curtains round off the aerodynamic measures. The latter
system intelligently regulates the flow of cooling air for the engine,
brakes and air conditioning with even greater flexibility, and offers
both aerodynamic benefits and further potential for savings in terms
of energy and heat management.

BMW ConnectedDrive.

Seamless connectivity between owners, their X3 and their smartphone.

The all-new BMW X3 also excels when it comes to Human Machine
Interface (HMI) through a refined system. In addition to the iDrive
Controller fitted as standard, specifying the Navigation system
Professional featuring iDrive 6.0 enhances the iDrive Controller with
a 10.25” display with Touchscreen technology. The optional BMW Gesture
Control, which debuted on the current BMW 7 Series, adds a unique way
to interface with the X3. BMW Gesture Control allows numerous
infotainment, communication, and navigation functions to be operated
intuitively using finger and hand gestures. The vehicle can also be
controlled using the cloud-based Intelligent Voice Control, which
offers the most advanced level of natural voice control currently
available. This enables drivers to formulate their request in natural,
everyday language instead of having to use a ridged set of spoken commands.

Linked up to the driver’s digital world thanks to BMW Connected.

The digital services from the BMW Connected app, available on both
iOS and Android, bring intelligent connectivity to the all-new BMW X3
and unparalleled convenience for the driver. With the help of the Open
Mobility Cloud platform, the digital services connect to the BMW X3
via devices such as smartphones or smartwatches, resulting in seamless connectivity.

The selection of devices that can connect to the new BMW X3 by means
of BMW Connected go beyond the smartphone by supporting devices such
as smart wearables like the Apple Watch and Samsung Gear (S2 and S3)
to the Amazon Echo. Customers can use the Amazon Echo’s Alexa voice
service to check the fuel level of their new X3, for instance, lock
the vehicle or activate the ventilation function, all by voice control
from the comfort of their home.

With BMW Connected, being on-time has never been simpler. Machine
learning made possible by the Open Mobility Cloud allows BMW Connected
to learn your routines and suggest the optimal time to leave for an
appointment. Location based services and real time traffic information
help optimize your journey even before entering the vehicle. When
equipped with Navigation Professional, the Advanced Real-Time Traffic
Information can continue to optimize your routing options. Car-to-car
communication is now also employed within the inter-connected BMW
fleet to provide advance warning of hazardous traffic situations.
Information on any detected hazards presented by an accident, a
broken-down vehicle, dense fog, heavy rain or black ice, for example,
is also relayed to the BMW backend from where it is imported into the
navigation system of both the driver’s car and other vehicles BMWs in
the vicinity .

Intelligent Emergency Call with extended functionality.

The standard built-in SIM card also allows drivers of the all-new BMW
X3 to use Intelligent Emergency Call with automatic locating and
accident severity detection. With the new BMW Teleservice Accident
Assistance, the vehicle now also detects low-speed collisions below
the threshold for airbag deployment. The driver receives a message in
the iDrive display offering to contact the BMW Accident Assistance
service directly. A push of a button is all it takes to obtain
professional support from the BMW Accident Assistance team, who can
also put the customer in touch with a BMW Service Partner if necessary.

Detecting accidents before they happen.

The standard pre-crash accident detection system Active Protection
enhances passive safety by detecting potential accident situations as
they arise. If a collision risk is detected, the system automatically
triggers a variety of occupant protection measures. The driver’s and
front passenger’s belt tensioners are activated, and the windows and
Panoramic moonroof are closed. Following a collision, Active
Protection automatically brings the vehicle to a standstill. The
Frontal Collision Warning function detects an imminent risk of
collision with preceding vehicles, and prepares the vehicle systems
for a possible impact from vehicles behind.

Parking with ease: ParkNow and On-Street Parking Information.

The ParkNow service, available in iDrive, allows parking spaces at
the roadside and in parking garages to be easily located, booked and
paid for without the need for cash. This can greatly shorten the time
taken to find a free space. In-car integration of ParkNow is initially
available in select cities nationwide. Visit www.park-now.com for details.

First launched with the BMW 5 Series, the new On-Street Parking
Information (OSPI) service available in select cities helps alleviate
the problem of vehicles searching for parking spaces – which accounts
for a large part of traffic congestion in city centers. OSPI works in
a similar way to the Advanced Real Time Traffic Information System,
using historical and current data to draw conclusions regarding the
availability of on-street parking spaces in specific zones or in a
particular part of town. The probability of on street parking
availability is shown on the Navigation Professional map, allowing the
driver to minimize the need to continually circle the block in search
of a spot.

The options list likewise includes a WiFi hotspot offering a
high-speed internet connection (LTE) for up to ten mobile devices.
Apple CarPlay is also available and can be used wirelessly in the
all-new BMW X3. The driver can seamlessly switch between BMW and Apple
CarPlay via the iDrive controller or touchscreen interface if equipped.

BMW Personal CoPilot: a comprehensive line-up of driver
assistance systems.

When it comes to driver assistance and semi-automated driving, all
the systems currently offered by BMW are available, such as the latest
generation of Active Cruise Control (ACC) with Stop & Go, whose
capabilities include braking the car to a halt in stop-and-go traffic
and automatically restarting to drive. The Driving Assistance Package
includes Active Blind Spot Protection, Lane Departure Warning, Daytime
Pedestrian Protection, Frontal Collision Warning with City Collison
Mitigation, Cross Traffic Alert rear, and Speed Limit Info (Navigation
system required). The Driving Assistant Plus Package offers additional
comfort features: Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Active
Lane Keeping Assistant with Side Collision Avoidance, Traffic Jam
Assistant, Evasion Aid & Cross Traffic alert front and rear.

The optional Head-Up Display allows the most important
driving-related information to be projected directly into the driver’s
field of vision. The 75 percent larger Head-Up Display in the all-new
BMW X3 is unrivalled in its segment for graphics, resolution and
display options. Another unique feature that the all-new BMW X3 boasts
over its competitors is the Remote 3D View function, which can be used
to beam a 360 degree, three-dimensional view of the car’s immediate
vicinity directly to a smartphone through the BMW Connected App.
