<strong>DESIGN</strong>
</p>
<p>"With the BMW GS-typical flyline, the recognizable radiator
  grille, signature lighting, and sleek rear end, the design language of
  the new BMW F 450 GS deliberately draws close attention to the iconic
  design of its big sister, the R 1300 GS. It skillfully transfers its
  spirit to the 48 hp 400 – 500 cc range. This also includes
  sophisticated ergonomics for the best possible accessibility and
  vehicle control."</p>
<p>
<strong>Alexander Buckan, Head of Design, BMW Motorrad</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>Iconic BMW GS design in the 400 - 500 cc class. </strong>
</p>
<p>The new BMW F 450 GS is a completely redesigned, new construction for
  the 48 hp 400 – 500 cc class. Its design focuses on implementing the
  current BMW GS design language. With iconic features such as the LED
  headlight with "X" lighting elements and the distinctive
  flyline, the bike's affiliation with the BMW Motorrad GS family is
  apparent at first glance.</p>
<p>The characteristic flyline runs from the front GS "beak,"
  across the tank and seat, and continues to the very narrow, slim rear.
  The agility and lightness of the rear section emphasize the dynamic
  character of the new BMW F 450 GS.</p>
<p>
<strong>Optimum ergonomics for both relaxed and dynamic on- and
    off-road riding. </strong>
</p>
<p>In terms of both drivetrain and chassis, the new BMW F 450 GS offers
  everything you would expect from a GS.</p>
<p>The ideal riding position in all conditions is ensured by an
  ergonomic triangle that was developed over countless miles of testing
  in a wide variety of conditions. The handlebars, made of butted
  aluminum, are positioned high and close to the body. The body and the
  3.6-gallon fuel tank underneath are designed to provide optimal
  support and a good knee fit when sitting or riding off-road in a
  standing position.</p>
<p>
<strong>Touring and everyday usability thanks to weather protection
    and a comprehensive storage space concept. </strong>
</p>
<p>The modular design of the available optional windshields allows for
  customization. Depending on the intended use and personal preferences,
  customers can choose the high Tour windshield (height-adjustable) or
  the clear Rallye windshield. This allows the comfort and protective
  effect of the new BMW F 450 GS to be tailored to individual requirements.</p>
<p>In the event of a fall or crash, Original BMW Motorrad Accessories
  effectively protect the motorcycle from damage with engine guard,
  engine protection bars, front axle protectors, and other protective components.</p>
<p>The wide range of storage accessories – whether side bags, rear bags,
  luggage rolls, tank bags, luggage racks or top cases – offers maximum
  flexibility for almost every application.</p>
<p>
<strong>Three different seat variants, adjustable handlebar levers,
    handlebar risers and sure-footed foot pegs with adjustable gearshift
    lever and footbrake lever for optimum riding on- and off-road. </strong>
</p>
<p>The new BMW F 450 GS comes with a two-piece seat (33.3-inch) as
  standard. With its flat, straight design, it provides an ideal
  ergonomic position for comfort and dynamics for most riders. The low
  black rider's seat (32.7 inches) and the high Rallye seat in
  Black/White/Red (34.0 inches), available as part of the Original BMW
  Motorrad Accessories, can be adapted to individual needs. The standard
  adjustable handlebar levers and the optional accessory 0.79-inch
  handlebar risers in silver offer further customization options.</p>
<p>The new BMW F 450 GS in the GS Trophy Variant comes standard with
  wider enduro footrests. While primarily designed for on-road use,
  their serrated profile also makes them suitable for off-road use. The
  enduro footrests offer an optimal balance between grip and comfort. A
  very practical feature is the height-adjustable footbrake lever. Using
  a tool, it can be adjusted vertically by 0.79-inch to two positions to
  suit individual on- and off-road riding needs. The gearshift lever is
  also height-adjustable – via a toothed mechanism on the shift shaft.</p>
<p>
<strong>DRIVETRAIN</strong>
</p>
<p>"With its new two-cylinder inline engine, the new BMW F 450 GS
  boasts an outstanding powertrain for dynamic riding pleasure on- and
  off-road. Low weight, ample torque, and exceptional smoothness thanks
  to the unique 135-degree crankpin offset make it a perfect partner for
  a wide range of applications typical of a GS. With our new Easy Ride
  Clutch (ERC), the new F 450 GS also offers a significant increase in
  operating comfort and dynamic performance." <strong>Johann Simon,
    Project Manager BMW F 450 GS</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>Completely redesigned, smooth-running and distinctive
    two-cylinder in-line engine for dynamic riding fun on asphalt and
    for off-road use. </strong>
</p>
<p>For decades, BMW’s F Series GS models have stood for premium
  offerings in their respective mid-range segments. Their all-around
  qualities, paragon of riding fun on asphalt roads, and easy and safe
  handling on off-road terrain have always characterized them. With the
  F 450 GS, BMW Motorrad is bringing this successful formula to the
  market in a completely redesigned form for the popular 400 - 500 cc
  class. It provides optimum riding fun on all types of terrain, whether
  on asphalt roads or off-road.</p>
<p>At the heart of the new BMW F 450 GS is a completely redesigned
  two-cylinder in-line engine. The main development goals were to build
  a lightweight, powerful, high-torque, and smooth-running engine.
  Additionally, during the development of the new engine, particular
  emphasis was placed on achieving low fuel consumption values and a
  distinctive sound.</p>
<p>The 420 cc displacement results from a 72 mm bore and a 51.6 mm
  stroke. The new F 450 GS delivers powerful performance and pulling
  power with a power output of 48 hp at 8,750 rpm and a maximum torque
  of 32 lb.-ft at 6,750 rpm.</p>
<p>
<strong>Characterful and emotional sound thanks to a crankshaft with a
    135-degree crankpin offset and uneven ignition interval. </strong>
</p>
<p>The new BMW F 450 GS's two-cylinder, in-line, liquid-cooled engine is
  installed transversely. Unique on the motorcycle market, it features a
  crankshaft with crankpins offset by 135 degrees. This design is
  accompanied by a strong emotional character, while at the same time a
  very low vibration level for the rider.</p>
<p>
<strong>Optimized smooth running is achieved thanks to a
    counter-rotating counterbalance shaft and wet-sump lubrication. </strong>
</p>
<p>The engine of the new BMW F 450 GS has a counterweight shaft
  (counterbalance shaft) positioned in front of the crankshaft that
  absorbs unwanted vibrations. It is driven by a spur gear. In
  conjunction with the 135-degree offset of the crankshaft, this results
  in smooth operation.</p>
<p>A wet-sump lubrication system with a chain-driven oil pump ensures a
  reliable oil supply under all operating conditions. The new F 450 GS
  has an engine guard, which is standard on the GS Trophy, to protect
  the oil pan from damage during off-road use.</p>
<p>
<strong>Two overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder operated by
    rocker arms. </strong>
</p>
<p>Two overhead camshafts rotate in the cylinder head of the new F 450
  GS, actuating four valves-per-cylinder via lightweight rocker arms.
  The timing chain is driven on the right side of the engine by a
  toothed chain from the crankshaft to the exhaust camshaft. The intake
  camshaft is driven by a pair of gears via the exhaust camshaft.</p>
<p>The valve angles are sized for an optimal combustion chamber design
  to provide the best possible power, torque, and efficiency. The valve
  angle is 12 degrees on the intake side and 12.4 degrees on the exhaust
  side. The valves have a valve head diameter of 29 mm (intake) and 24.3
  mm (exhaust). The compression ratio is 13.0:1.</p>
<p>An intake manifold fuel injection system with the latest BMS-Z engine
  management technology is responsible for the air-fuel mixture. An
  E-Gas system sends the rider's request directly from the throttle grip
  sensor to the engine control unit. This unit regulates the opening
  angle of the throttle valves for optimal controllability and response.</p>
<p>
<strong>Easy Ride Clutch (ERC) for a significant increase in operating
    and riding comfort. </strong>
</p>
<p>A special technical highlight of the new BMW F 450 GS is the Easy
  Ride Clutch (ERC). This innovative system is standard on the GS Trophy
  variant or available as an optional accessory. In combination with the
  BMW Gear Shift Assist Pro, <a name="_Hlk212554729"></a>manual
  operation of the clutch lever is completely eliminated – from starting
  off to gear changes to demanding maneuvers.</p>
<p>The clutch lever, however, remains installed. This allows the rider
  to use the clutch manually when needed – a decisive advantage in
  special riding situations, for example, to lift the front wheel over
  an obstacle or to improve control when descending on slippery surfaces.</p>
<p>The heart of the ERC is a centrifugal unit in the clutch, which
  engages the clutch depending on the engine speed. The handling is
  similar to that of a conventional clutch operation: Starting off is
  achieved simply by opening the throttle with a gear engaged. If a gear
  that's too high is selected, a corresponding warning appears on the
  display. In heavy city traffic, on tight bends, or off-road, the ERC
  provides noticeable relief for the rider, as it effectively prevents
  the engine from stalling.</p>
<p>Technologically, it is a particularly advanced form of the
  centrifugal clutch. Unlike conventional systems, it remains closed
  during overrun. The result is familiar and predictable handling,
  equivalent to that of a conventional clutch. The clutch can be used as
  usual at any time while riding, if necessary. Engine braking is fully
  maintained until the vehicle is almost at a standstill; only when the
  idle speed is reached does the clutch automatically open – just as the
  rider would otherwise do manually.</p>
<p>Even when rolling with the vehicle in gear, for example when riding
  downhill, the engine is actively dragged along, generating effective
  engine braking torque. The clutch remains closed during overrun,
  ensuring maximum control. At the same time, the rider can intervene at
  any time using the clutch lever and manually override the system.</p>
<p>The ERC thus enables confident handling even in complex driving
  situations – whether maneuvering, in city traffic, on winding roads,
  or off-road – and elevates driving dynamics and comfort to a new level.</p>
<p>
<strong>Six-speed transmission with optional Gear Shift Assist Pro for
    fast upshifts and downshifts without the need to use the clutch. </strong>
</p>
<p>To optimize riding dynamics, the redesigned six-speed transmission
  transmits torque to the left-hand secondary drive via an X-ring chain.
  For fast upshifts and downshifts without clutch operation, the new F
  450 GS is offered with the Gear Shift Assist Pro in the Sport and GS
  Trophy variants.</p>
<p>It allows the rider to shift up without using the clutch, providing
  perfect acceleration with virtually no interruption in traction.
  Additionally, Gear Shift Assist Pro, standard on Sport and GS Trophy
  variants, allows for downshifts without using the clutch. This feature
  enables very fast gear changes, minimizes clutch actuation, and
  significantly reduces undesirable influences on the rear wheel and
  jerking movements caused by load changes.</p>
<p>Gear Shift Assist Pro also significantly reduces the independent
  movements of the rider and passenger during conventional gear changes,
  making shared motorcycle enjoyment even more comfortable.</p>
<p>
<strong>Right-hand high-quality stainless steel exhaust system.</strong>
</p>
<p>The exhaust system of the new BMW F 450 GS is made entirely of
  stainless steel and is equipped with two catalytic converters for
  emission control. Mounting on the right-hand side of the vehicle is
  particularly advantageous when pushing the motorcycles - usually from
  the left-hand side. The muffler, which is also on the right, provides
  the necessary clearance and reduces the risk of getting burnt on the
  hot muffler.</p>
<p>
<strong>Standard riding modes "Rain", “Road” and
    "Enduro" as well as ABS, DBC, DTC and Engine Drag Torque
    control provide a high degree of riding fun and safety. "Enduro
    Pro" Riding Mode part of Sport and GS Trophy variants. </strong>
</p>
<p>The new BMW F 450 GS offers three standard riding modes:
  "Rain", "Road" and "Enduro", allowing
  the motorcycle to be adapted to suit individual preferences. Standard
  equipment also includes ABS Pro, DBC, Dynamic Traction Control (DTC)
  as well as Engine Drag Torque control (MSR). The "Rain",
  "Road" and "Enduro" riding modes are intelligently
  linked to the control systems and allow the new BMW F 450 GS to be
  adapted specifically to the respective riding conditions.</p>
<p>The "Rain" mode is designed for use on wet roads. Throttle
  response is softer, and all control systems are designed to maximize
  stability and control.</p>
<p>"Road" mode is intended for use on dry roads. The engine's
  throttle response is direct, and the traction control remains stable
  in the mid-range. All other control systems are also designed for
  maximum stability.</p>
<p>The "Enduro" mode is designed for off-road use with
  standard road tires and provides the same throttle response as the
  "Rain" mode. Traction control provides maximum stability,
  while front wheel lift-off detection, engine drag torque control, and
  dynamic traction control remain minimally active.</p>
<p>The additional “Enduro Pro” mode, available as part of the GS Trophy
  variant, is designed for off-road use with rough terrain tires.
  Wheelie control and rear wheel ABS are deactivated in this mode. ABS
  Pro, DTC, and throttle response can be customized in this mode as well.</p>
<p>
<strong>CHASSIS </strong>
</p>
<p>"Our chassis concept for the new BMW F 450 GS is based on a
  completely redesigned tubular steel frame that integrates the
  two-cylinder inline engine as a load-bearing element," explains
    <strong>Marc Weber, engineer for the BMW F 450 GS</strong>.
  "The focus of development was on compact packaging for optimal
  accessibility, high riding precision, and agile handling on and
  off-road. The short wheelbase and balanced chassis geometry enabled us
  to achieve particularly agile yet stable handling."</p>
<p>
<strong>New chassis with tubular steel frame for optimal rigidity and
    riding precision.   </strong>
</p>
<p>The newly developed chassis of the BMW F 450 GS relies on a welded
  tubular steel frame with integrated forged parts. This design combines
  low weight with high strength, thus meeting the demands of both
  dynamic road riding and demanding off-road passages. The use of steel
  as a frame material offers advantages over aluminum, especially in
  tougher terrain.</p>
<p>Geometry plays a key role in the vehicle's dynamic performance: A
  wheelbase of 57.7 inches, a steering head angle of 28.1 degrees, and a
  trail of 4.5 inches ensure precise steering response, high stability,
  and playful handling. At the same time, the compact packaging ensures
  excellent accessibility to the key components – a plus for both
  maintenance and tough off-road use.</p>
<p>
<strong>Front KYB upside-down telescopic forks and rear KYB central
    spring strut featuring progressive damping. </strong>
</p>
<p>BMW GS models always present challenging tasks for chassis
  developers. In addition to operating on asphalt roads and
  accommodating a sporty riding style, the requirements of off-road use
  must also be met. The new BMW F 450 GS is equipped with high-quality
  KYB spring and damper elements that reflect this diverse range of
  applications. The result is a responsive chassis that maximizes
  traction in any riding situation.</p>
<p>The front wheel is guided by a rigid 43 mm KYB upside-down telescopic
  forks. Front suspension travel is 7.1 inches. The “Sport Suspension”
  is part of the Sport and GS Trophy variants and here, the forks are
  adjustable for both rebound and compression. The fixed fork tubes are
  anodized in gold, as are the butted aluminum handlebars. The fork
  bridge is made from forged aluminum.</p>
<p>The rear wheel is guided by a closed, lightweight, hollow cast
  aluminum, double armed swinging arm with a directly linked, central
  suspension shock with progressive damping, which is unique in this
  segment. This damping principle originates from off-road sports. BMW
  Motorrad has patented this technology as the WAD system and has
  developed it further. A damping system prevents the spring strut from
  bottoming out by increasing compression damping with increasing
  compression. The central KYB spring strut of the new F 450 GS has an
  adjustable spring base ("spring preload") and adjustable
  rebound damping. Rear suspension travel is 7.1 inches.</p>
<p>
<strong>The wheels and tires are tailored to BMW GS applications. </strong>
</p>
<p>Sporty, dynamic cornering on the road as well as off-road adventures
  are reflected in the choice of wheels. Accordingly, new F 450 GS is
  fitted with 2.5 x 19-inch front and 3.5 x 17 inch rear alloy wheels
  with tubeless tires for road and off-road use, sized 100/90-19 at the
  front and 130/80-17 at the rear. The new wheels are 2.2 lbs. lighter
  than the wheels equipped on the G 310 GS. Type approval for the F 450
  GS permits fitting all common tire types, including enduro tires.</p>
<p>The new BMW F 450 GS offers optional lightweight yet strong
  cross-spoked wheels measuring 2.5 x 19 inches the front and 3.5 x 17
  inches the rear.</p>
<p>
<strong>High-performance brake system in conjunction with BMW Motorrad
    ABS Pro for safer braking, even when leaning in corners. </strong>
</p>
<p>The front wheel of the new BMW F 450 GS features a floating
  single-disc brake with a Brembo 4-piston fixed caliper and a 310 mm
  brake disc diameter for efficient, stable deceleration. A single disc
  brake with 1-piston floating caliper and 240 mm diameter is used on
  the rear wheel.</p>
<p>The new BMW F 450 GS is equipped with BMW Motorrad ABS Pro as
  standard. ABS Pro offers more safety when braking in turns by enabling
  ABS-assisted braking when leaning into corners. ABS Pro prevents the
  wheels from locking even when the brakes are applied quickly and
  reduces abrupt changes in steering force and thus the bike from
  returning to the upright position, even during sudden braking. The
  benefits are increased braking and riding stability combined with the
  best possible deceleration even when leaning into corners. Depending
  on the selected riding mode, ABS Pro and the engine drag torque
  control (MSR) offer adapted control characteristics for optimum
  braking maneuvers.</p>
<p>Dynamic Brake Control (DBC) increases safety when braking, even in
  difficult situations, by preventing the throttle from being activated
  unintentionally. As soon as the sensor cluster supplies a certain
  deceleration value during braking, any simultaneous desire to
  accelerate on the part of the rider is detected as implausible and
  throttle valve opening is suppressed. This keeps the motorcycle stable
  and shortens the braking distance.</p>
<p>
<strong>ELECTRONICS</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>The new F 450 GS offers comprehensive standard equipment such
    as LED headlight and turn indicators and a 6.5-inch TFT color
    display with a wealth of connectivity options</strong>.</p>
<p>
<strong>Powerful standard LED lighting. </strong>
</p>
<p>The new BMW F 450 GS features an LED headlight with the iconic
  "X" lighting signature. Based closely on its big sister, the
  R 1300 GS, it clearly shows its family affiliation. The turn indicator
  and control lamps of the new F 450 GS also use LED technology.</p>
<p>
<strong>Connectivity – unrivaled information diversity and
    functionality in the form of a large, easy to read 6.5-inch TFT display. </strong>
</p>
<p>The new F 450 GS already features a large 6.5-inch TFT color display
  as standard. The quantity of information, quality of its presentation,
  and user-friendliness are unrivaled. The display was designed to be
  large to ensure optimum readability, even under difficult lighting
  conditions. It is linked to the multi-controller on the left handlebar
  fitting, allowing for quick, safe, and convenient operation. There is
  a practical USB-C socket in the handlebar area.</p>
<p>It offers screen displays tailored to the BMW GS world: the Pure Ride
  Screen and the Sport Screen (part of the GS Trophy variant), which
  provide detailed information on DTC, braking power, and lean angle.</p>
<p>It is also possible to make phone calls, listen to music and navigate
  comfortably while riding. If a smartphone and a BMW Motorrad
  Communication System are connected via Bluetooth to the TFT screen,
  for example, the rider can conveniently access media playback and
  telephone functions. These functions can be used without installing an
  app. If there is an active Bluetooth connection to a standard
  smartphone, the rider can listen to music while riding. In addition,
  the free BMW Motorrad Connected app offers practical turn-by-turn
  navigation directly via the TFT display. Basic navigation is
  particularly convenient for everyday rides or short trips without
  additional equipment.</p>
<p>For customers who want more than turn-by-turn navigation, BMW
  Motorrad offers map navigation with navigation preparation, available
  as an accessory, either with the BMW Motorrad ConnectedRide Navigator
  (an Original BMW Motorrad Accessory) or the ConnectedRide Smartphone
  Cradle (used with the BMW Motorrad Connected App). Both can be
  controlled via the control wheel on the left (MMC).</p>

  <strong>DESIGN</strong></p>
<p>"With the BMW GS-typical flyline, the recognizable radiator
  grille, signature lighting, and sleek rear end, the design language of
  the new BMW F 450 GS deliberately draws close attention to the iconic
  design of its big sister, the R 1300 GS. It skillfully transfers its
  spirit to the 48 hp 400 – 500 cc range. This also includes
  sophisticated ergonomics for the best possible accessibility and
  vehicle control."</p>
<p>
  <strong>Alexander Buckan, Head of Design, BMW Motorrad</strong></p>
<p>
  <strong>Iconic BMW GS design in the 400 - 500 cc class. </strong></p>
<p>
  <strong>Optimum ergonomics for both relaxed and dynamic on- and
    off-road riding. </strong></p>
The body and the
  3.6 gallon fuel tank underneath are designed to provide optimal
  support and a good knee fit when sitting or riding off-road in a
  standing position.</p>
<p>
  <strong>Touring and everyday usability thanks to weather protection
    and a comprehensive storage space concept. </strong></p>
<p>
  <strong>Three different seat variants, adjustable handlebar levers,
    handlebar risers and sure-footed foot pegs with adjustable gearshift
    lever and footbrake lever for optimum riding on- and off-road. </strong></p>
The standard
  adjustable handlebar levers and the optional accessory 0.79-inch
  handlebar risers in silver, offer further customization options.</p>
<p>
  <strong>DRIVETRAIN</strong></p>
<p>"With its new two-cylinder inline engine, the new BMW F 450 GS
  boasts an outstanding powertrain for dynamic riding pleasure on- and
  off-road. Low weight, ample torque, and exceptional smoothness thanks
  to the unique 135-degree crankpin offset make it a perfect partner for
  a wide range of applications typical of a GS. With our new Easy Ride
  Clutch (ERC), the new F 450 GS also offers a significant increase in
  operating comfort and dynamic performance." <strong>Johann Simon,
    Project Manager BMW F 450 GS</strong></p>
<p>
  <strong>Completely redesigned, smooth-running and distinctive
    two-cylinder in-line engine for dynamic riding fun on asphalt and
    for off-road use. </strong></p>
<p>The 420 cc displacement results from a 72 mm bore and a 51.6 mm
  stroke. The new F 450 GS delivers powerful performance and pulling
  power with a power output of 48 hp at 8,750 rpm and a maximum torque
  of 32 lb-ft at 6,750 rpm.</p>
<p>
  <strong>Characterful and emotional sound thanks to a crankshaft with a
    135-degree crankpin offset and uneven ignition interval. </strong></p>
<p>
  <strong>Optimized smooth running is achieved thanks to a
    counter-rotating counterbalance shaft and wet-sump lubrication. </strong></p>
<p>
  <strong>Two overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder operated by
    rocker arms. </strong></p>
<p>
  <strong>Easy Ride Clutch (ERC) for a significant increase in operating
    and riding comfort. </strong></p>
<p>A special technical highlight of the new BMW F 450 GS is the Easy
  Ride Clutch (ERC). This innovative system is installed as standard on
  the GS Trophy variant. In combination with the BMW Gear Shift Assist
  Pro, <a name="_Hlk212554729"></a>manual operation of the clutch lever
  is completely eliminated – from starting off to gear changes to
  demanding maneuvers.</p>
<p>
  <strong>Six-speed transmission with Gear Shift Assist Pro for fast
    upshifts and downshifts without the need to use the clutch. </strong></p>
<p>To optimize riding dynamics, the redesigned six-speed transmission
  transmits torque to the left-hand secondary drive via an X-ring chain.
  For fast upshifts and downshifts without clutch operation, the new F
  450 GS is offered with the Gear Shift Assist Pro in the GS Trophy variant.</p>
<p>It allows the rider to shift up without using the clutch, providing
  perfect acceleration with virtually no interruption in traction.
  Additionally, Gear Shift Assist Pro allows for downshifts without
  using the clutch. This feature enables very fast gear changes,
  minimizes clutch actuation, and significantly reduces undesirable
  influences on the rear wheel and jerking movements caused by load changes.</p>
<p>Gear Shift Assist Pro also significantly reduces the independent
  movements of the rider and passenger during conventional gear changes,
  making shared motorcycle enjoyment even more comfortable.</p>
<p>
  <strong>Right-hand high-quality stainless steel exhaust system.</strong></p>
<p>The exhaust system of the new BMW F 450 GS is made entirely of
  stainless steel and is equipped with two catalytic converters for
  emission control. Mounting on the right-hand side of the vehicle is
  particularly advantageous when pushing the motorcycles - usually from
  the left-hand side. The muffler, which is also on the right, provides
  the necessary clearance and reduces the risk of getting burnt on the
  hot muffler.</p>
<p>
  <strong>Standard riding modes "Rain", “Road” and
    "Enduro" as well as ABS, DBC, DTC and Engine Drag Torque
    control provide a high degree of riding fun and safety. "Enduro
    Pro" Riding Mode part of GS Trophy variant. </strong></p>
<p>
  <strong>CHASSIS </strong></p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong>"Our chassis concept for the new BMW F 450 GS
  is based on a completely redesigned tubular steel frame that
  integrates the two-cylinder inline engine as a load-bearing
  element," explains <strong>Marc Weber, engineer for the BMW F 450
  GS</strong>. "The focus of development was on compact packaging
  for optimal accessibility, high riding precision, and agile handling
  on and off-road. The short wheelbase and balanced chassis geometry
  enabled us to achieve particularly agile yet stable handling."</p>
<p>
  <strong>New chassis with tubular steel frame for optimal rigidity and
    riding precision.   </strong></p>
<p>
  <strong>Front KYB upside-down telescopic forks and rear KYB central
    spring strut featuring progressive damping. </strong></p>
<p>The front wheel is guided by torsionally rigid 43 mm KYB upside-down
  telescopic forks. Front suspension travel is 7.1 inches. The “Sport
  Suspension” is part of the GS Trophy variant and here, the forks are
  adjustable for both rebound and compression. The fixed fork tubes are
  anodized in gold, as are the butted aluminum handlebars. The fork
  bridge is made from forged aluminum.</p>
<p>The rear wheel is guided by a closed, lightweight, hollow cast
  aluminum, double armed swinging arm with a directly linked, central
  suspension shock with progressive damping, which is unique in this
  segment. This damping principle originates from off-road sports. BMW
  Motorrad has patented this technology as the WAD system and has
  developed it further. A damping system prevents the spring strut from
  bottoming out by increasing compression damping with increasing
  compression. The central KYB spring strut of the new F 450 GS has an
  adjustable spring base ("spring preload") and adjustable
  rebound damping. Rear suspension travel is 7.1 inches.</p>
<p>
  <strong>The wheels and tires are tailored to BMW GS applications. </strong></p>
<p>Sporty, dynamic cornering on the road as well as off-road adventures
  are reflected in the choice of wheels.</p>
<p>Accordingly, the new BMW F 450 GS in the GS Trophy variant comes with
  lightweight yet strong cross-spoked wheels measuring 2.5 x 19 inches
  the front and 3.5 x 17 inches the rear. The new F 450 GS is fitted
  with tubeless tires for road and off-road use, sized 100/90-19 at the
  front and 130/80-17 at the rear. Type approval for the F 450 GS
  permits fitting all common tire types, including enduro tires.</p>
<p>
  <strong>High-performance brake system in conjunction with BMW Motorrad
    ABS Pro for safer braking, even when leaning in corners. </strong></p>
<p>
  <strong>ELECTRONICS</strong></p>
<p>
  <strong>The new F 450 GS offers comprehensive standard equipment such
    as LED headlight and turn indicators and a 6.5-inch TFT color
    display with a wealth of connectivity options</strong>.</p>
<p>
  <strong>Powerful standard LED lighting. </strong></p>
<p>The new BMW F 450 GS features an LED headlight with the iconic
  "X" lighting signature. Based closely on its big sister, the
  R 1300 GS, it clearly shows its family affiliation. The turn indicator
  and control lamps of the new F 450 GS also use LED technology.</p>
<p>
  <strong>Connectivity – unrivaled information diversity and
    functionality in the form of a large, easy to read 6.5-inch TFT display. </strong></p>
<p>For customers who want more than arrow navigation, BMW Motorrad
  offers map navigation with navigation preparation, available as an
  accessory, either with the BMW Motorrad ConnectedRide Navigator (an
  Original BMW Motorrad Accessory) or the ConnectedRide Smartphone
  Cradle (used with the BMW Motorrad Connected App). Both can be
  controlled via the control wheel on the left (MMC).</p>

<p>
  <strong>2. Engine and Drivetrain</strong></p>
<p>The new F 900 R and F 900 XR are even more dynamic and safer thanks
  to the new "Dynamic" riding mode and Dynamic Traction
  Control (DTC), now standard.</p>
<p>
  <strong>Powerful two-cylinder in-line engine with Euro 5+
    homologation. New optional Akrapovič Sport rear silencer.</strong></p>
<p>In the new BMW F 900 R and F 900 XR, the tried-and-tested 895 cc
  two-cylinder in-line engine produces 105 hp and 68.6 lb-ft over a wide
  torque curve, while meeting current Euro 5+ homologation standards.
  With a 270/450 degree firing interval, the engine generates a very
  emotional exhaust note. The new sports silencer, available as a
  genuine BMW Motorrad Accessory in collaboration with Akrapovič,
  provides an even more expressive exhaust sound.</p>
<p>
  <strong>Newly tuned Dynamic riding mode and now standard Dynamic
    Traction Control (DTC) for greater dynamics and safety.</strong></p>
<p>The F 900 R and F 900 XR are offered with two standard riding modes,
  Rain and Road. The optional Dynamic riding mode has received new
  settings. It has a throttle response curve that is more direct, making
  it ideal for sporty riding.</p>
<p>Dynamic Traction Control DTC, which ensures a high level of riding
  safety, is also a new standard feature on both models. It contributes
  significantly to the high riding dynamics and exemplary riding safety.
  DTC provides valuable support and a significant safety advantage,
  especially in changing riding conditions, on surfaces with less grip
  and surfaces with changing friction.</p>
<p>The engine control unit detects a spinning rear wheel by comparing
  the speeds of the front and rear wheels via the ABS sensors with data
  from the lean angle sensor box. In this case, it reduces drive torque
  within milliseconds by reducing the ignition timing, intervening in
  the fuel injection system, and influencing the throttle position.</p>
<p>DTC also uses a sensor cluster to measure the lean angle and takes
  this into account in its control behavior. DTC works with the
  different riding modes to ensure maximum riding safety.</p>
<p>DTC provides valuable assistance and an enormous safety advantage
  when accelerating. However, it cannot redefine the physical limits of
  riding. It is still possible to exceed these limits through
  misjudgment or riding errors. However, DTC helps to make the most of
  the bike's dynamic capabilities in a much safer manner. The DTC can be
  switched off separately for special requirements, such as riding on
  the track.</p>
<p>
  <strong>MSR Engine Drag Torque Control now standard. </strong></p>
<p>In addition to the anti-hopping clutch, the new BMW F 900 R and F 900
  XR now feature standard MSR Engine Drag Torque Control. This system
  prevents rear wheel spin or skidding caused by abrupt throttle release
  or downshifting, for an even higher level of safety.</p>
<p>
  <strong>3. Chassis and Suspension</strong></p>
<p>
  <strong>New upside-down telescopic forks with adjustable rebound,
    compression and adjustable spring preload. New wheels, approx. 3.97
    lbs. lighter. </strong></p>
<p>On both the new BMW F 900 R and the new BMW F 900 XR, the front wheel
  is guided by new, torsionally rigid, upside-down 43 mm telescopic
  forks. In contrast to the previous models, the rebound, compression
  and spring preload are all adjustable. This makes it possible to
  tailor the forks to suit individual requirements, operating
  conditions, and load conditions. Suspension travel is 5.3 inches (F
  900 R) and 6.7 inches (F 900 XR).</p>
<p>The new F 900 R and F 900 XR also feature new 17-inch cast aluminum
  wheels from the S 1000 R model, which weigh around 3.9 lbs. less. The
  reduced rotational mass is reflected in improved acceleration, braking
  and handling. The wheel dimensions are 3.5 x 17" front and 5.5 x
  17" rear with 120/70 ZR 17 and 180/55 ZR 17 tires.  </p>
<p>
  <strong>BMW Motorrad ABS Pro and Dynamic Brake Control DBC as standard. </strong></p>
<p>Another new standard feature on the F 900 R and F 900 XR is BMW
  Motorrad ABS Pro. In contrast to BMW Motorrad ABS, ABS Pro goes one
  step further and offers more safety when braking in corners by
  enabling ABS-assisted braking at lean angles. ABS Pro prevents the
  wheels from locking even when the brakes are applied quickly and
  reduces abrupt changes in steering force and thus the bike from
  returning to the upright position, even during sudden braking. The
  benefits are increased braking and riding stability combined with the
  best possible deceleration even when cornering.</p>
<p>ABS Pro is designed for road use, with medium to low friction values
  and optimum braking stability in the Rain and Road riding modes.
  Regulation takes place at an early stage. In Dynamic mode, ABS Pro
  assumes that the road surface has very high grip and has a high
  coefficient of friction. Accordingly, ABS Pro is designed for optimum
  deceleration, control is late and rear wheel lift detection is reduced.</p>
<p>Another new standard safety feature is Dynamic Brake Control (DBC),
  which provides greater safety when braking in difficult situations by
  preventing unintentional acceleration. As soon as the sensor cluster
  supplies a certain deceleration value during braking, any simultaneous
  desire to accelerate on the part of the rider is detected as
  implausible and throttle valve opening is suppressed. This keeps the
  motorcycle stable and shortens the braking distance.</p>
<p>
  <strong>4. Electronics</strong></p>
<p>
  <strong>F 900 R and F 900 XR with new, 1.7 lb. lighter battery and
    function-integrated turn indicator lights in the new rear end. </strong></p>
<p>The two new F Series models are equipped with a new battery that is
  1.7 lbs. lighter. The new F 900 R and F 900 XR also have a new rear
  end with function-integrated turn indicator lights. In keeping with
  the "all in one" concept, the short, lightweight number
  plate holder and the rear turn indicator and number plate lights form
  a single unit, while the brake and taillight functions are integrated
  into the turn indicator lights.</p>
<p>
  <strong>F 900 XR with Headlight Pro including adaptive headlight,
    USB-C charging port and heated grips now standard. </strong></p>
<p>The new F 900 XR features Headlight Pro with adaptive headlight as
  standard. Other new standard features include the USB-C charging port
  on the right-hand side of the cockpit with a maximum charging current
  of 2.4 A and heated grips.</p>
<p>The adaptive headlight, part of Headlight Pro, offers more safety
  when riding at night. This adds additional LED modules which allow for
  better illumination of the road in bends, ensuring a safer night-time
  ride. The adaptive headlight, which is unique in these two motorcycle
  classes, works by activating these additional LED elements in the main
  headlights, which are equipped with their own reflectors, depending on
  the lean angle. The adaptive headlight turns on when the motorcycle
  leans by more than 10 degrees and is travelling at a speed of more
  than 6 mph. The additional lighting effect functions optimally up to a
  lean angle of approx. 25°.</p>
<p>The F 900 XR has distinctive LED light guides to the left and right
  of the lower headlamp edge, indicating that it is part of the BMW
  Motorrad XR family.</p>
<p>
  <strong>5. Ergonomics and Design.</strong></p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong>“We have made the riding position on the new F 900 R
  even more sporty and dynamic with an optimized ergonomic triangle. The
  new F 900 XR benefits from optimized front fairing aerodynamics, which
  is reflected in a significant reduction in helmet shake.”</p>
<p>
  <strong>Dominik Menzel, Product Manager </strong></p>
<p>
  <strong>BMW F 900 R with optimized ergonomics thanks to a redefined
    position of the handlebars and footrests for a sportier riding position. </strong></p>
<p>The handlebars, footrests and foot levers of the ergonomic triangle
  of the new BMW F 900 R have been redesigned. The handlebars are
  positioned further forwards than on the previous model. A sportier,
  front-leaning riding position has been achieved by moving the
  footrests further back and optimizing the foot control positions.</p>
<p>
  <strong>BMW F 900 XR with optimized aerodynamics and hand protectors
    as standard. Optional high windshield available.  </strong></p>
<p>The new F 900 XR offers more touring capability and long-distance
  comfort thanks to optimized aerodynamics in the front fairing. The
  redesigned wind deflector reduces wind pressure on the rider,
  resulting in significantly less helmet buffeting and even greater
  riding comfort.</p>
<p>The hand protectors, which are standard for all equipment variants,
  also provides improved protection from the wind and weather. The new F
  900 XR can also be fitted with a new, optional 1.18-inch higher windscreen.</p>

<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>Woodcliff Lake, NJ – October 29, 2018</strong>…<a name="_Hlk494272478"></a><a name="_Hlk491850803"></a> Ever since
  their debut in 2007, the GS models of the F series have stood for
  premium riding enjoyment with typical ‘Made by BMW Motorrad’ features,
  representing the middle-class Adventure segment. As before, the GS
  abbreviation again represents a perfect synthesis of touring and
  long-distance capability combined with sporty dynamics and supreme
  off-road performance. In short: A BMW GS is the perfect companion when
  it comes to discovering remote corners of the world by motorcycle.
  After around ten years of consistent model development, BMW Motorrad
  has now fully redesigned and reengineered its middle-class GS models
  in line with its objective of creating an ultimate riding machine that
  is even more uncomplicated and carefree, whether used for
  sport-oriented road riding, on tour complete with luggage and a
  passenger, or on an adventure trip into off-road terrain.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Even more so than their predecessor models, the new F 750 GS and
  F 850 GS are targeted squarely at their respective clientele. The F
  750 GS is designed for all riders who prefer the sensation and
  conceptual design of a travel enduro in combination with a low seat
  height, copious power availability, high cost-effectiveness, and
  powerful all-round qualities. Opposite this is the new F 850 GS, which
  besides offering more power and torque, features even more distinctive
  touring characteristics coupled with supreme off-road ability.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>Powerful, new 2-cylinder in-line engine with two
    counterbalance shafts and a firing interval of 270/450 degrees for
    optimized smoothness and emotional sound.</strong></p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>The main development focus was to create an increase in both power
  and torque. In addition, special attention was given to reducing fuel
  consumption levels. Displacement is <a name="_Hlk492449290"></a>853 cc
  and the power output of 57 kW (77 hp) at 7,500 rpm generated by the
  F 750 GS is more than sufficient. The new F 850 GS generates 66 kW (90
  hp) at 8,000 rpm which translates to a supreme level of engine power.</p>
<p>The developers achieved a powerful and emotionally appealing sound by
  employing a crankshaft with a 90 degree journal offset and a
  270/450 degree firing interval. Unwanted vibrations are absorbed by
  the new engine’s two counterbalance shafts. A self-amplifying,
  anti-hopping clutch provides a discernible reduction in the hand
  clutch operating force while the drop in engine drag torque also
  enhances safety on the road. Power transmission to the rear wheel
  comes from the 6-speed gearbox with secondary drive that is now
  positioned on the left-hand side.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>The Ride Modes ‘Road’ and ‘Rain’ plus ABS and ASC ensure
    plenty of riding enjoyment and enhanced safety as standard. Pro
    riding modes are available as optional equipment.</strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p>The new GS models address individual rider requirements by offering
  ‘Rain’ and ‘Road’ riding modes, while the combination of
  BMW Motorrad ABS and the ASC automatic stability control ensures a
  high level of safety.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The F 750 GS and F 850 GS can be fitted with factory optional
  equipment, such as Pro riding modes and in turn the additional
  ‘Dynamic’, ‘Enduro’ and ‘Enduro Pro’ ride modes (the latter only
  available in the F 850 GS) as well as the DTC dynamic traction control
  and banking capable ABS Pro.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>New steel bridge frame in monocoque construction, optimized
    suspension geometry and new fuel tank position.</strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p>The bridge frame of the new GS models in the F series is made of
  deep-drawn, welded components. It integrates the 2-cylinder in-line
  engine as a co-supporting element and offers benefits in terms of
  torsional rigidity and robustness. The fuel tank has been placed in
  the classic position between the seat bench and the steering head, for
  optimised packaging and an improved centre of gravity.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>Electrical System and Electronics</strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>See and be seen that much better - full LED headlight
    available as a factory option </strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p>BMW Motorrad has been regarded for decades as a pioneer when it comes
  to safety in motorcycling. As a literally glowing example, a full LED
  headlight is standard equipment on the new F 750 GS and F 850 GS. Not
  only does it light up the road with a beam that is unparalleled in its
  brightness and clarity, it ensures better visibility in traffic. It
  also lends the two mid-range premium enduros an unmistakable look with
  its optional LED optical style element in the form of an inverted
  tuning fork.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>Sharper GS profile thanks to the more masculine design</strong>
  <strong>.</strong></p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>The F 750 GS and F 850 GS also feature a completely new look, which
  benefits from a more dynamic and masculine design. In addition to the
  basic version, the new F models are also available in Exclusive style
  options. The Rallye style option is exclusive to the new F 850 GS and
  places particular emphasis on its off-road capabilities.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>Unique range of optional equipment and Original BMW Motorrad accessories.</strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p>The new GS models of the F series are being launched with a range of
  equipment options that is unique for the middle class. Be it the
  different seat heights and windshields, the new LED   style element,
  or the optional Connectivity equipment with TFT display, the list of
  fascinating features with which owners can maximize their riding
  enjoyment and safety as well as experience the thrill of the road is
  now virtually inexhaustible for middle class travel enduro motorcycles.</p>

<p>
  <strong>Drive</strong></p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>
  <strong>Newly<a name="_Hlk491850735"></a> engineered 2-cylinder
    in-line engine with great character and high pulling power for
    dynamic riding enjoyment.</strong></p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>For more than ten years, the GS models in the F series have embodied
  the premium range in the middle-class Adventure segment. They have
  been characterized from the start by their convincing all-round
  qualities and as a paragon of riding enjoyment on tarmac surfaces as
  well as safe controllability off the road. With the new F 750 GS and F
  850 GS models, BMW Motorrad is launching its success formula in a
  comprehensively reengineered and more distinctive form.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>For more riding enjoyment on all surfaces, whether tarmac-covered
  roads or off-road terrain.</p>
<p>As before, the heart of the new F 750 GS and F 850 GS is the in-line,
  2‑cylinder engine, which has, however, now been completely
  reengineered. <a name="_Hlk492296888"></a>The objectives of the
  developers were above all to achieve a significant increase in power
  and torque compared to the previous models. In addition, while
  developing the new engine, great importance was attached to optimizing
  combustion to reduce fuel consumption.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The engine displacement of both the F 750 GS and the F 850 GS is <a name="_Hlk492297079"></a>now 853 cc (compared with 798 cc in the
  previous models), resulting from a bore of 84 mm and stroke of 77 mm.
    <a name="_Hlk492449347"></a>With 77 hp (57 kW) of power at 7,500 rpm
  and a maximum torque of 61 lb-ft (83 Nm) at 6,000 rpm, the new
  F 750 GS features impressively high power and traction force. The new
  F 850 GS generates 90 hp (66 kW) at 8,000 rpm and develops a maximum
  torque of 65 lb-ft (86 Nm) at 6,250 rpm to deliver its supreme engine
  performance. In particular, the increased torque results in improved
  pulling power. The new F 750 GS achieves a maximum speed of 118 mph
  (190 km/h), while the F 850 GS manages over 125 mph (200 km/h).</p>
<p>
  <a name="_Hlk492297967"></a><strong> </strong></p>
<p>
  <strong>Extremely powerful and emotional sound, produced by a
    crankshaft journal offset of 90 degrees and firing interval of
    270/450 degrees.</strong></p>
<p>
  <strong>
    <br /></strong>In both the new F 750 GS and F 850 GS, the 2-cylinder
  in-line engine is installed transversely to the direction of travel
  and is liquid-cooled. In contrast to the engines of the previous
  models, however, its crankshaft has a 90 degree journal offset and a
  270/450 degree firing interval (previous models had a 0 degree
  crankshaft journal offset and a 360 degree firing interval. This
  change is accompanied by a particularly powerful and emotional sound,
  similar to that of the 90 degree V2 engine.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Optimized smoothness created by two opposed counterbalance shafts and
  dry-sump lubrication.</p>
<p>While the oscillating mass forces of the previous models were
  compensated for by a connecting rod fitted to the middle of the
  crankshaft with a defined arrangement of counterweights, <a name="_Hlk492298092"></a>unwanted vibrations in the new engine are
  eradicated by means of two counterbalance shafts.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>These two opposed counterbalance shafts are arranged in front of or
  behind the crankshaft, a little below its axis, and are driven from
  the left of the crankshaft by the spur gears. In conjunction with the
  newly designed crankshaft and firing interval of 270/450 degrees, this
  results in a considerable increasing in running smoothness accompanied
  by a thrillingly impressive engine sound.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>To prevent unwanted churning losses and to ensure maximum operational
  safety, even under tough off-road conditions, the engine of the new
  F 750 GS and F 850 GS features dry-sump lubrication, which does not
  require a separate tank for engine oil. Any oil escaping from the main
  bearings is collected in a drain that is sealed off from the oil sump.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>In this area, the lubricant is constantly pumped away by the oil pump
  and transported to the gearbox housing before it runs without pressure
  into the oil sump. The oil-feed pump then supplies the oil circulation
  from here. Its great off-road character is reflected in the F 850 GS’s
  underside protection, which protects the oil sump from any damage.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>Two overhead camshafts and four rocker arm-operated valves per cylinder.</strong></p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>The cylinder head of the new F 750 GS and F 850 GS contains two
  rotating overhead camshafts driven by a tooth belt, which operate four
  valves per cylinder by means of light and therefore fixed-speed rocker
  arms. The timing chain drive is on the right-hand side of the engine.</p>
<p>The valves are dimensioned to support an optimized combustion chamber
  design, which results in the best possible power and torque
  exploitation as well as increased efficiency. They measure
  11.2 degrees on the intake side and 13.3 degrees on the outlet side.
  The valves have a plate diameter of 33.5 mm (intake) and 27.2 mm
  (outlet). The compression ratio is 12.7:1.</p>
<p>Carburation is by means of intake pipe injection with next-generation
  BMS‑M engine control. The rider’s control signals are passed on
  directly by a sensor on the throttle grip via an e-gas system to the
  motor controller, which regulates the angle of opening of the throttle
  valves to maximize controllability and optimize the response characteristics.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>Power transmission via anti-hopping clutch for a significant
    increase in riding safety.</strong></p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>The entire power transmission of the new F 750 GS and F 850 GS has
  also been completely reengineered.  The primary drive arrangement on
  the right-hand side of the engine is responsible for transmitting the
  torque from the crankshaft to the clutch by means of spur gears. <a name="_Hlk492298662"></a>This is now designed as a self-amplifying
  anti-hopping clutch (wet clutch). Not only does it allow the rider to
  benefit from discernibly reduced operating forces in the adjustable
  clutch lever, but it also leads to a significant reduction in engine
  drag torque, resulting in a considerable improvement to rider safety ‑
  particularly in the case of braking maneuvers performed while downshifting.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>Six-speed gearbox now with secondary drive arranged on the
    left-hand side. Gear shift assist Pro for fast up and down gear
    shifting without using the clutch, available as factory optional equipment.</strong></p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>In the interest of improved riding dynamics, the newly engineered
  6-speed gearbox now transfers the torque with an optimized
  transmission ratio spread to the secondary drive on the left (formerly
  right), in the form of an O-ring chain.<a name="_Hlk491960206"></a>
  For fast up and down gear shifting without using the clutch,
  BMW Motorrad now offers the Gear shift assist Pro, available as
  factory optional equipment for the new F 750 GS and F 850 GS.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>With this it is possible to shift gears up without using the clutch,
  thus permitting perfect acceleration with virtually no interruption in
  traction force. Moreover, the Gear shift assist Pro also makes it
  possible to change down without using the clutch. This enables very
  fast gear shifting with a minimum of clutch use, resulting in a
  discernible reduction in undesirable load reversal effects on the back
  wheel and the jerk movements this can cause.<br />
  <br />
  <br /></p>
<p>In addition, the independent movements of rider and passenger that
  are associated with conventional gear changing are considerably
  reduced using the Gear shift assist Pro, making joint motorcycle
  enjoyment that much more comfortable. The Gear shift assist Pro also
  simplifies things considerably for beginner riders, while the seasoned
  sports-minded rider can enjoy more rapid shifting.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>Exhaust system now positioned on the right-hand side for
    optimized comfort.</strong></p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>By positioning the secondary drive on the left-hand side of the
  motorcycle, it has been possible to move the exhaust system of the new
    <a name="_Hlk495140331"></a>F 750 GS and F 850 GS to the right. This
  is of great advantage when it is necessary to maneuver the motorcycle
  by hand, which the rider generally does from the left-hand side. The
  exhaust pipe, which is now on the right and, like the rest of the
  system, is made of stainless steel, provides considerably more space
  to do maneuver the motorcycle and also reduces the risk of a burn from
  the hot exhaust. The new F 750 GS and F 850 GS can also be fitted with
  an HP exhaust system with a highly sporty design, as a factory option.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <a name="_Hlk492299087"></a><strong>Ride modes ‘Rain’ and ‘Road’ plus
    ABS and ASC are standard factory installed equipment for a high
    degree of riding enjoyment and safety.</strong></p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>The F 750 GS and F 850 GS already come with the two ride modes ‘Rain’
  and Road’ installed as standard equipment, to accommodate individual
  rider preferences. Also included in the standard features is the ASC
  automatic stability control, which ensures a high degree of rider safety.</p>
<p>With the riding modes ‘Rain’ and ‘Road’, the riding characteristics
  of the new F 750 GS and F 850 GS can be adapted to the majority of
  road conditions.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>In ‘Rain’ mode, the throttle response is configured to be soft, while
  the control characteristics of the ASC or DTC and ABS or ABS Pro are
  based on wet and slippery road surfaces.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>In ‘Road’ mode, the engine permits an optimum throttle response,
  while the ABS and ASC control systems are configured for ideal
  performance on all roads. The same applies to the ABS Pro and DTC
  dynamic traction control systems, available as optional equipment. If
  the ESA electronic suspension adjustment (available as optional
  equipment) is fitted, damping at the rear takes place in the default
  (‘Road’) setting.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>Ride modes Pro in conjunction with DTC dynamic traction
    control and ABS Pro available as factory optional equipment.</strong></p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>
  <a name="_Hlk492299377"></a>The new GS models of the F series can be
  equipped with the ride modes Pro option as factory optional equipment.
  They additionally contain the ride modes ‘Dynamic’ and ‘Enduro’ as
  well as the DTC dynamic traction control and the curve-optimized ABS
  Pro with dynamic brake light. The ride mode ‘Enduro Pro’ is activated
  by means of an encoding plug and is available only in the F 850 GS. It
  offers additional customization options for altering the vehicle
  characteristics in accordance with rider needs and further increases
  the riding enjoyment available with the F 850 GS.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>In ‘Dynamic’ mode, the sporty side of the new F 750 GS and F 850 GS
  really comes to the fore. Throttle response is then instantaneous and
  the DTC and ABS Pro systems are coordinated for road use with high
  frictional values. If fitted, the Dynamic ESA is set to the default
  ‘Road’ configuration.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>In ‘Enduro’ mode, the off-road capabilities of the new F 750 GS and
  F 850 GS can be particularly impressively and intensively. This mode
  offers a soft engine response and the restrained intervention by the
  DTC allows an experienced rider to perform deliberate and controlled
  drifting. This characteristic, as with that of ABS Pro, is configured
  for loose surfaces and road enduro tyres, typical of terrain
  situations. <a name="_Hlk491968879"></a>The coordination of the
  Dynamic ESA function is set to meet the needs of terrain riding and
  configured with the ‘Enduro’ setting.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Finally, ambitious enduro riders will enjoy the ‘Enduro Pro’ mode for
  the full off-road performance offered only by the F 850 GS. This ride
  mode is configured for the use of lugged tires and is activated by a
  specially coded plug. With ‘Enduro Pro’ the rider can individually
  configure and combine characteristics such as throttle response, DTC
  and ABS Pro. Here too Dynamic ESA is modified for off-road use and is
  set to the ‘Enduro’ value.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>Chassis</strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <a name="_Hlk492450368"></a><strong>Newly developed suspension with
    deep-drawn steel bridge frame for increased rigidity, robustness and
    riding precision. Optimized geometry for improved accuracy.</strong></p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>In terms of suspension, the new GS models of the F series also
  feature a completely new concept. Even though the previous models
  already thrilled riders with their high degree of riding precision,
  riding stability and light handling, the developers still gave top
  priority to optimizing these characteristics in their technical specification.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <a name="_Hlk492299754"></a>The bridge frame that was developed
  especially for the new F 750 GS and F 850 GS integrates the 2-cylinder
  in-line engine as a supporting element and consists of deep-drawn,
  welded sheet steel components. Unlike the previous models with a
  tubular steel spaceframe, the new innovative frame has a monocoque
  construction, which results in increased torsional rigidity.</p>
<p>This new frame concept was also accompanied by a repositioning of the
  fuel tank. While the fuel tank in the previous models was located
  beneath the seat bench, the 4 gallon fuel tank of the new F 750 GS and
  F 850 GS now adopts the classic position between the seat and the
  steering head. This is largely due to the optimized wheel load
  fluctuations and the position of the center of gravity as well as that
  of the packaging of the overall vehicle. Moreover, it was then
  possible to make the entire rear section of the motorcycle narrower
  while at the same time optimizing the luggage space beneath the seat bench.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The deliberate avoidance of aluminum as a material was due to the
  tough conditions in which an enduro vehicle often finds itself.
  Significant advantages, especially with more intensive off-road use,
  can be provided by robust steel and the dimensioning of both the new
  main frame and the steel rear frame that is screw-attached to the main
  frame provides. The improved off-road ability also becomes apparent in
  screwed-on pins of the passenger footrests.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The new F 750 GS and F 850 GS have also undergone optimization in
  terms of suspension geometry. The accuracy, riding precision and
  riding stability benefit from the newly dimensioned suspension geometry.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>In addition to the modification of the wheelbase, the new F 750 GS
  and F 850 GS are characterized by the somewhat flatter steering head
  in comparison to the previous models, as well as greater wheel castor
  values. The suspension geometry data compares with the previous
  models, the F 700 GS and F 800 GS, as follows:</p>

  <strong>Wheel guidance at the front via new telescopic fork or
    upside-down telescopic fork and at rear via double-sided aluminum
    swing arm with central spring strut. Even more sensitive response
    characteristics with increased riding comfort. </strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p>Particularly in the Adventure segment, suspension developers face
  challenging tasks. Not only must the suspension function well on
  tarmac-surfaced roads and in more sporty use, but it is also necessary
  to bring together the requirements of off-road and touring, including
  riding with a passenger and intensive use.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>By accommodating this varied application spectrum in all of its
  facets, riders of the new F 750 GS and F 850 GS can benefit from
  completely new wheel guidance and spring shock absorber elements.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Front wheel guidance features a new torsion-resistant telescopic fork
  with an internal tube diameter of 41 mm in the F 750 GS, while in the
  case of the F 850 GS, it is a 43 mm upside-down fork. Compared with
  the previous models, the new telescopic fork is characterized by
  improved response characteristics. The spring travel of the F 750 GS
  is 5.9 in (151 mm) and 5.2 in (131 mm) when lowered. To meet the more
  stringent requirements of off-road use, the F 850 GS enables 8 in
  (204 mm) and 7.2 in (184 mm) when lowered. The sensitive slider tubes
  are protected from stone impacts by plastic guards that are integrated
  in the front wheel cover.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The rear wheel is guided by a double-sided aluminum swing arm in
  conjunction with a directly linked spring strut. In addition to a
  hydraulic and thus highly comfortable adjustable spring base (spring
  pre-tension), the central spring strut of the new F 750 GS also has
  adjustable rebound stage damping. The spring travel distance is 6.9 in
  (177 mm) and 6.2 in (157 mm) when lowered. With the new F 850 GS, a
  spring strut with travel-dependent damping is used, which also has an
  adjustable spring base and rebound stage damping that can be adjusted
  to suit personal requirements. The travel distance is 8.6 in (219 mm)
  and 7.8 in (199 mm) when lowered.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>Dynamic ESA electronic suspension adjustment at rear for
    optimum suspension setup under all conditions as a factory option.</strong></p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>With the BMW Motorrad Dynamic ESA electronic suspension adjustment
  available as optional equipment, the dynamic riding experience, rider
  comfort and touring suitability of the new F 750 GS and F 850 GS can
  be increased even further. Dynamic ESA opens up new dimensions of
  rider safety, performance and comfort, since the damping of the rear
  spring strut is automatically adjusted to the situation according to
  the riding conditions and the rider’s maneuvers.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>From a technical point of view, the movement in travel and speed is
  recorded by means of a spring travel sensor in the central spring
  strut, which automatically sets the damping to suit the situation
  depending on the riding conditions. The damping of the spring strut is
  adjusted accordingly by means of electrically activated control
  valves. This damping adjustment occurs in the space of a few
  milliseconds. As a result, optimum damping comfort and a very stable
  ride response is ensured even in banking position.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Dynamic ESA does not function as a standalone system but communicates
  with the other control systems, such as ABS / ABS Pro and ASC or DTC.
  Moreover, Dynamic ESA is linked with the ride modes ‘Rain’, <a name="_Hlk492118448"></a>‘Road’, ‘Dynamic’, ‘Enduro, and ‘Enduro Pro’
  (the latter only available with the F 850 GS).</p>
<p> </p>
<p>In the ride modes ‘Rain’, ‘Road’, and ‘Dynamic, the central spring
  strut operates with a soft basic coordination. If the rider prefers
  the configuration for a more sporty riding style, he is able to
  combine these riding modes with the Dynamic ESA ‘Dynamic’ setting,
  which results in a tauter shock absorber setting.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>In the ride modes ‘Enduro’ and ‘Enduro Pro’ (the latter only with the
  F 850 GS), Dynamic ESA is coordinated for terrain use with gravel or
  sand surfaces. The Dynamic ESA ‘Enduro’ setting is defined
  accordingly. The damping characteristics of the central spring strut
  are coordinated for the special requirements of off-road riding with
  optimum traction and softer settings.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>
  <strong>Wheels and tires configured for different riding
    characteristics and fields of application.</strong></p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>Besides engine power and travel distances, wheel/tire combinations
  represent a distinct characteristic by which to distinguish between
  the two premium travel enduros for the middle class. For instance,
  with the road-oriented, entry-level F 750 GS, die-cast aluminum wheels
  with the format 2.50 x 19 are fitted at the front with 4.25 x 17 at
  the rear. In contrast, the F 850 GS is fitted with cross-spoke wheels
  with aluminum rim rings and a size of 2.15 x 21 at the front and 4.25
  x 17 at the rear. The front wheel size preferred for sports-oriented
  off-road use is 21 inches; this provides even more riding stability
  thanks to the larger gyroscopic forces, which offers distinct
  advantages on loose ground.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Both models are fitted as standard with enduro road tires. The new
  F 750 GS is fitted with tubeless tires with the dimensions 110/80 R19
  at the front and 150/70 R17 at the rear. The new F 850 GS now has
  tubeless tires for the first time, too with the size 90/90 21 at the
  front and 150/70 R17 at the rear. In addition, for the F 850 GS there
  are tires with a distinct lugged profile which are homologated for
  intensive terrain use and can be ordered as free factory options.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>Powerful brake system with standard BMW Motorrad ABS. Ride
    modes Pro with ABS Pro for even more safety when braking.</strong></p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>A dual disc brake on the front wheel with a diameter of 305 mm
  ensures supreme and sturdy deceleration in conjunction with a
  two-piston floating caliper. A single disc brake with a diameter of
  265 mm is fitted to the rear wheel with a single-piston floating
  caliper. As with all BMW motorcycles approved for road use, the new
  F 750 GS and F 850 GS are fitted as standard with BMW Motorrad ABS,
  which the rider can also deactivate if desired, for example in
  off-road situations.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Further safety enhancing features for motorcycles are available in
  the form of the ride modes Pro optional equipment and ABS Pro
  functions. ABS Pro goes one step further than the BMW Motorrad ABS by
  offering increased safety when braking on bends in that ABS-supported
  braking is permitted in banking position. Here, ABS Pro prevents the
  wheels from locking even when the brakes are applied quickly; this
  reduces abrupt changes in steering force on shock-braking maneuvers
  and stops the motorcycle from rearing up unintentionally. The benefits
  of ABS Pro to the rider are increased brake and ride stability
  together with the excellent deceleration on bends.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>In the ride modes ‘Rain’ and ‘Road’, ABS Pro is dimensioned for road
  use and moderate to low frictional values, plus optimum braking
  stability. Control sets in early. In the ‘Dynamic’ ride mode, ABS Pro
  is coordinated for a very low-skid track quality with high friction.
  Accordingly, ABS Pro is then dimensioned for optimum braking, control
  sets in late and the rear wheel lift-off detection is reduced. In the
  ‘Enduro’ riding mode, ABS Pro is coordinated for the needs of off-road
  use with enduro road tires, while the riding mode ‘Enduro Pro’
  (F 850 GS only) also accommodates more sporty off-road riding with
  enduro lugged tires. In this mode the rear-wheel ABS is also
  deactivated, allowing experienced riders to perform so-called brake drifts.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Optimized ergonomics and a variety of seat heights for carefree
  enduro riding enjoyment.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>As is typical for enduros, the new F 750 GS and F 850 GS feature
  generous spring travel distances and large ground clearance.
  Nevertheless, it isn’t just tall riders who feel comfortable on them.
  This is ensured by the optimized inner leg curve length, numerous
  available seat heights, and a refined ergonomic triangle around the
  handlebars, seat bench and footrests.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>With a standard seat height of 32.1 in, the new F 750 GS is at the
  same level as its predecessor, while the standard seat height of the
  F 850 GS has been reduced by .9 in to 33.8 in.  By lowering and
  incorporating a lower seat bench (factory optional equipment), it is
  possible to achieve a minimal seat height of 30.3 in with the F 750 GS
  and 32.1 in with the F 850 GS.</p>

<p>
  <a name="_Hlk492451007"></a><strong>Compliment the full LED headlight
    with an optional LED Style Element.</strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p>The appearance of the standard full LED headlights can be enhanced by
  adding an optional LED style element in the form of an inverted tuning
  fork as an additional design feature.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <a name="_Hlk492451140"></a><strong>Connectivity - the multifunctional
    instrument cluster with a 6.5 inch full-color TFT display and
    numerous features available as factory optional equipment.</strong></p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>The new F 750 GS and F 850 GS are equipped as standard with a
  completely new instrument cluster design, consisting of an analogue
  speedometer and a multifunctional display, alongside a number of
  control lamps.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Fast and even clearer information for the rider with minimum
  distraction from what is happening on the road are now possible thanks
  to the new optional equipment known as Connectivity, with which the
  instrument cluster is displayed in the form of a 6.5 inch full-color
  TFT display. In conjunction with integrated operation via the
  BMW Motorrad multi-controller, it gives the rider quick access to
  vehicle and connectivity functions.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>It makes it easier to make telephone calls or listen to music while
  on the road. If the rider, for example, connects a smartphone and a
  helmet equipped with the BMW Motorrad communication system using the
  TFT display, he can easily access the media playback and phone
  functions. These phone and media functions can be used without having
  to install an app. If a bluetooth connection has been established with
  any standard smartphone, the rider can enjoy listening to music while riding.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>In addition, the free BMW Motorrad Connected App offers
  everyday-suitable and practice-oriented arrow navigation directly via
  the TFT display. The BMW Motorrad Connected App is available for free
  from the Google and Apple app stores. It contains a number of
  additional attractive functions, such as recording routes travelled
  and displaying travel statistics and information. Tracked routes can
  now also directly be shared with other riders through the REVER
  Community. This basic information is particularly attractive for
  motorcyclists who wish to perform everyday rides or take short trips
  conveniently and without any additional equipment.</p>
<p>
  <a name="_Hlk492451264"></a> </p>
<p>
  <strong>Keyless Ride – convenient activation of all locking functions
    by wireless link, available as a factory option. </strong></p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>As is already the case with other BMW Motorrad models, the
  Keyless Ride system available as a factory option replaces the
  conventional ignition/steering lock in the new F 750 GS and F 850 GS.
  This means that it is no longer necessary to use a regular key. The
  steering lock, ignition, fuel filler flap and anti-theft device are
  all activated by the transponder integrated in the vehicle key, which
  transmits a wireless signal with a frequency specific to the vehicle.
  The key can therefore remain in the rider's pocket, for example.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>As soon as the key is located within the vehicle reception area
  (distance < 2.1 yards), the steering lock can be unlocked. The
  steering lock is locked by keeping the button pressed down and placing
  the handlebars in end position. The ignition is activated by briefly
  pressing the button or keeping the button pressed down after releasing
  the steering lock. The ignition is switched off by means of a short or
  long press of the button. The alarm system is automatically activated
  when the ignition is switched off and the steering lock is closed, as
  soon as the key leaves the reception area.</p>

  <strong>Design and Color Concept</strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <a name="_Hlk498116870"></a><a name="_Hlk492300052"></a><strong>New,
    more dynamic design with a sharper GS profile.</strong></p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>The new F 750 GS and F 850 GS have been completely redesigned and now
  benefit from a much more dynamic and masculine look. The design with
  its iconic features such as the asymmetric headlight and the
  GS-typical flyline make it immediately clear that they belong to the
  BMW Motorrad GS family. The characteristic flyline emanates from the
  front GS “beak” (upper wheel cover) over and past the fuel tank and
  seat bench to the functionally designed and now considerably slimmer
  rear. This rear section, which radiates agility and lightness with a
  black painted rear frame enhances the dynamic character of the new GS models.</p>
<p>
  <strong>Optimized off-road and touring ability plus improved wind and
    weather protection.</strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p>For improved off-road capability, attention was paid to ensuring that
  there are no inconvenient corners or edges in the vicinity of the fuel
  tank and seat bench. The wind and weather protection was also
  subjected to further optimization. In this case, the modular structure
  of the available windshields (optional accessories) permits individual
  configuration to suit the wishes of the rider. For instance,
  standard-series windshields from the F 750 GS (somewhat lower) and the
  F 850 GS (somewhat higher and at the same time the same as the comfort
  windshield of the F 750 GS) can be simply exchanged. All in all, this
  allows the rider to increase the characteristics of the new GS models
  towards off-road use or travel comfort. Touring suitability has been
  further optimized with the new integrated case design in the style of
  the R 1200 GS.</p>
<p>
  <strong>Stronger characters thanks to new colors and style variations.</strong></p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>Three dynamic color and three style options give the new GS models
  their individual character features. The painted parts of both models
  have been deliberately kept to a minimum. They are located in the
  upper area of the motorcycle, where they form the interface between
  the rider and the motorcycle. The lower area of the motorcycle and the
  GS ‘beak’, on the other hand, are in black, to underline its robust
  off-road character.</p>
<p>The new BMW F 750 GS: Sporty and urbane multi-talent with attractive
  color design. The new F 750 GS features a sporty and urbane character
  and yet is ideally suited for off-road use thanks to its
  enduro-specific functions.</p>
<p>The high quality claim of the new F 750 GS is particularly apparent
  in the diversity of the materials and the high quality technology.
  Materials range from high-gloss painted surfaces and glossy plastic
  sections to matt plastic components in a variety of textures,
  functionally optimized for use and generating an exclusive overall
  appearance in their interplay.</p>
