The following global release does not contain U.S. specific
    market information.

Munich. The BMW iX3, the production of which will
commence in 2020, facilitates locally emission-free driving in a novel
and efficient form, whilst also being suitable for everyday use. A
range of more than 440 km* within the legislative WLTP test cycle will
be achieved with a net-battery size of 74 kWh*. The first purely
electric Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) is the trailblazer for BMW
eDrive technology of the fifth generation, which, starting 2021, will
also be deployed in the BMW i4 and the BMW iNEXT. For this purpose,
both the drive system and the high-voltage battery unit featuring
pioneering battery cell technology have been completely redeveloped.
In the BMW iX3, the related advancement ensures brand-typical driving
experience combined with outstanding efficiency and a novel balance of
  weight and range.

The BMW iX3 is yet a further milestone in the consistent
realisation of the BMW Group’s electrification strategy. In 2020 the
BMW X3 will become the brand’s first model available both with
conventional petrol and diesel engines as well as plug-in hybrid and
purely electric drive. With this “power of choice” offer, the globally
operating company is taking into account the various different
requirements and needs of their worldwide customers worldwide as well
as maximum effectiveness in the reduction of CO2 emissions. The BMW
iX3 is produced for the world market by the joint venture BMW
  Brilliance Automotive in Shenyang, China.

* = preliminary data

________________________.

The fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology is the key to
future-oriented sustainability for vehicles with electrified drive
systems. It is the result of consistent development work within the
framework of BMW EfficientDynamics and the experience gained by the
BMW Group in the field of electric mobility spanning more than 10
years. All powertrain components used for BMW eDrive technology were
developed solely by the BMW Group. Moreover, the electric motor and
the high-voltage batteries are produced in corporately owned
manufacturing facilities. In this way, the BMW Group ensures it has a
decisive influence on the product properties and the quality of each
component. Furthermore, the drive unit and the high-voltage battery
unit are flexibly scalable in terms of power and energy content and
can thus be used in various different vehicle concepts and segments.

EfficientDynamics at its best: New drive component with high
    efficiency and brand-typical power characteristics.
In the BMW iX3, EfficientDynamics reaches a new level. The
vehicle’s fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology comprises a drive
unit in which electric motor, system electronics and transmission are
brought together into a central housing. As a result, the required
installation space of the drive technology and its weight are
considerably reduced. The ratio between motor output and weight of the
drive system improves around 30 percent compared to the previous
  generation.
The electric motor featured in the BMW iX3 delivers a
maximum power output of 210 kW/286 hp*. The torque of 400 Nm* allows
for high initial acceleration and keeps a high level even at the upper
motor speeds because of exclusive BMW design measures.

A further special feature of the electric motor being deployed
in the BMW iX3 for the first time is a construction method that
eliminates the need for rare earth materials.

The electric motor used in the BMW iX3 transfers power to the
rear wheels. This effectuates a further increase in drive system
efficiency. Moreover, the range of the BMW iX3 benefits from the drive
design conveying the traditional BMW rear-wheel drive experience.

High-voltage batteries with significant higher energy density
and responsible use of raw materials.

The high-voltage battery unit of the BMW iX3 is integral part of
BMW’s fifth eDrive generation and is based on the latest evolution in
NMC-811 technology in BMW typical prismatic design. The BMW Group has
outstanding development capabilities in this field. This know-how
flows into precise specifications with regard to the use of materials
and battery design, according to which the battery cells are produced.
Consistent research and development work not only raises energy
density but also constantly improves all battery cell characteristics,
in particular also durability and safety. In total, the BMW
high-voltage battery shows the optimum of what is possible
  nowadays.
At the same time the BMW engineers were able to reduce
the share of cobalt contained in the battery by another two thirds.
Compared to former technology used by BMW Group, the gravimetric
energy density on cell level in the BMW iX3 is around 20 percent higher.

With the BMW iX3 the raw materials Cobalt and Lithium for the
first time are purchased by BMW directly and then handed over to the
  producer of the battery cells.

In addition, scalability and the compact design of the high-voltage
battery unit have been further optimised. The battery cells are
grouped into modules at specialised BMW production locations and
finally assembled as high-voltage battery packs aligned to each model.
The high-voltage battery unit in the BMW iX3 is installed in an
extremely flat position in the vehicle floor. Thanks to this
arrangement, there is no loss of space for passengers and the luggage
compartment compared to the conventionally powered versions of the BMW X3.

Greater range thanks to high efficiency rather than a bigger battery

With a gross energy content of 74 kWh*, the high-voltage battery unit
installed in the BMW iX3 achieves a range of more than 440 km* in the
legislative WLTP test cycle. Within its segment, the BMW iX3 boasts
not only a unique low power consumption of less than 20 kWh/100km*
accordingly to the WLTP test cycle, but also stands for a novel ratio
  between battery size and range.
Thanks to the favourable
efficiency rating of the drive components and the high energy density
of the high-voltage battery unit, the BMW iX3 achieves a range that is
only possible for common electric vehicles with larger and thus
  heavier batteries.

Positive environmental impact secured.
The “real” ecological footprint of electric vehicles is
sometimes questioned, particularly in markets still having a low
percentage of green electricity in the public power grid. At the BMW
Group every electrified model has to proof that for the entire cycle,
comprising raw material procurement, supply chain, production and
usage phase as well as recycling, its CO2 balance is substantially
better than the one of a conventionally powered sibling. For the BMW
iX3 the related advantage is more than 30 percent compared to a BMW X3
sDrive 20d when average European power supply is used during the car’s
usage phase. If the vehicle is charged with green electricity the
  advantage is around 60 percent.

Furthermore, in analogy with the BMW i3 Plug&Play technology, the
high-voltage battery featured in the BMW iX3 is planned for a second
life as a stationary battery pack for the period following the first
long life in the car. This way the already positive CO2 balance of the
BMW iX3 can be further improved.

Munich. The heart of the BMW brand beats in the
premium segment of the mid-range category. Along with the BMW 4 Series
Coupé, BMW 4 Series Convertible and BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé models, it
is the BMW 3 Series that brings out the qualities that are key to
hallmark brand driving pleasure in a particularly concentrated form.
Now BMW is transferring the brand's characteristic core features to
the age of electric mobility – the central purpose in developing the
BMW i4. The BMW Group's first purely electrically powered model for
the premium mid-range combines driving dynamics, sporty and elegant
design, premium quality and the spacious comfort and functionality of
a four-door Gran Coupé with locally emissions-free mobility. This
heralds a new era of driving pleasure.

The future of electric mobility will be shaped by fifth-generation
BMW eDrive technology, for which the BMW iX3 – to be produced from
2020 onwards – will act as a pioneer, followed by the BMW iNEXT and
the BMW i4. With fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology, which also
includes the latest innovations in the field of battery cells, the BMW
i4 sets new standards in sporty performance, achieving a range of some
  600 kilometres.

The development of the BMW i4 is part of a comprehensive product
offensive by the BMW Group in the field of models with electrified
drive. The company currently has the biggest range of all-electric and
plug-in hybrid models within the competitive field. By 2023, the BMW
Group will have 25 models with electrified drive in its program. With
a model portfolio that includes efficient combustion engines as well
as modern plug-in hybrid and purely electric drive, the BMW Group as a
globally operating company is taking into account the varying
requirements and preferences of its customers in different regions of
the world. Irrespective of the type of drive selected, all current and
future models feature hallmark brand driving pleasure as part of their
  specific characteristics.

Fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology for optimised dynamics,
    efficiency and range.

The drive technology of the BMW i4 sets new standards in terms of
power density, efficiency and range in locally emissions-free driving.
The electric motor, power electronics, charging unit and high-voltage
battery have been entirely newly developed. Together they form the BMW
eDrive technology of the fifth generation, with which the BMW Group
has made further significant advancements in the field of electrified
drive. From 2020 onwards, fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology will
be introduced first in the BMW iX3 and then in the BMW iNEXT and BMW
i4. The electric motor developed for the BMW i4 delivers a maximum
output of around 390 kW/530 hp, reaching the level of a V8 engine in
current BMW models fitted with a combustion engine. Its spontaneous
power delivery gives the BMW i4 outstanding performance
  characteristics and exceptionally high efficiency.

The fifth generation of BMW eDrive also includes a newly designed
high-voltage battery featuring the latest battery cell technology. The
design of the high-voltage battery developed for the BMW i4 is
characterised by its extremely flat design and optimised energy
density. With a weight of some 550 kilograms, it has an energy content
of around 80 kWh. This gives the BMW i4 a range of approximately 600 kilometres.

Gran Coupé with characteristic design and performance features.

The all-electric BMW i4 will be produced from 2021 onwards and
subsequently launched on the global automotive markets. The new model
will be manufactured at the company's main plant in Munich, where
other vehicles produced include the BMW 3 Series Sedan with
conventional combustion engine and plug-in hybrid drive, the BMW 3
Series Touring with conventional drive and from summer 2020 also with
plug-in hybrid drive, the BMW 4 Series Coupé and the BMW M4 Coupé
  (fuel consumption combined: 10.0 – 9.3 l/100 km; combined
  CO2 emissions: 227 – 213 g/km). In addition to the sporty,
elegant design that is typical of a 4-door coupé of the brand, the BMW
i4 is characterised by impressive performance features. The BMW i
brand's first Gran Coupé accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in around
4.0 seconds, achieving a top speed of more than 200 km/h.

A flexible vehicle architecture, the flat, low-positioned
high-voltage battery and the compact drive technology create a high
degree of freedom in realising a model-specific design. The BMW i4
combines the characteristic proportions of a 4-door coupé with the
typical design features of a BMW i model. Dynamically stretched lines
and a precise surface design go hand in hand with aerodynamically
optimised exterior features as well as sustainability accentuations
that are specific to BMW i. High entry and exit comfort for the rear
passengers and a spacious, variable interior ensure high suitability
for both day-to-day trips and long-distance travel. As such, the BMW
i4 can be clearly identified as a BMW Gran Coupé – and equally clearly
  as an electrically powered vehicle.

Modular, flexible drive and battery storage technology.

The electric drive component of the BMW i4, its charging unit and
high-voltage battery are all developed in-house by the BMW Group.
Production is carried out in-house or according to BMW Group
specifications. Here, the experience gained from development of the
previous generations of BMW eDrive technology is consistently tapped
into with the aim of optimising all components on an ongoing basis.

The BMW Group's comprehensive expertise in the field of electrified
drive systems forms the basis for a scalable modular system whose
components can be integrated into different vehicle concepts with
great flexibility. Fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology comprises a
highly integrated drive system in which the electric motor,
transmission and power electronics are accommodated in a single
housing. This drive system is compatible with all vehicle concepts and
will be available for different models in a range of output levels.
The highly integrated design of the system allows a significant
increase in power density as well as a reduction in weight and
manufacturing effort. Production of future-generation electric motors
will no longer require materials categorised as rare earths.

The next generation charging unit is characterised by a uniform
package suitable for all future vehicle architectures. It can be used
in plug-in hybrid models as well as in purely electrically powered
vehicles and is designed for a charging capacity of up to 150 kW. This
allows the high-voltage battery of the BMW i4 to be charged to around
80 per cent of its full energy content in around 35 minutes. This
results in a charging time of around six minutes for a range of 100 kilometres.

In the field of high-voltage batteries, too, the advancements
introduced with the fifth generation of BMW eDrive technology are
based on the BMW Group's in-depth expertise and years of experience.
The company has an exceptionally high level of know-how both in the
field of battery cell technology and in the manufacture of
model-specific high-voltage batteries. This lays the foundation for
continuous optimisation of the batteries – both in future plug-in
hybrid models and in purely electrically powered vehicles. The BMW
Group has been manufacturing modules and model-specific high-voltage
batteries for vehicles with electrified drive systems since 2013. An
independently developed modular system with a flexible arrangement of
the modules enables integration of batteries developed in-house into
various vehicle concepts. Consistent ongoing development work is
dedicated to optimising the basic characteristics of the battery cells
as well as the structure of the modules and their arrangement in the
respective model-specific storage unit. For example, the batteries
used in the BMW i4 and other future electric vehicles have a higher
number of cells per module, a reduced number of components, a more
compact design and increased flexibility with regard to their geometry.

With the establishment of the Battery Cell Competence Centre in
Munich, the BMW Group has further expanded its research and
development expertise in this area, which is crucial to the future of
electromobility. The focus is on fundamental research in areas where
there is an impact on customer-related factors such as energy density,
accessible peak output, service life, safety, charging
characteristics, response at different temperatures and manufacturing
costs. At the new Battery Cell Competence Centre, research is being
conducted in particular into the potential for further optimisation of
cell chemistry and cell design. The selection and composition of
materials for the anode, cathode, electrolyte and separator as well as
the format of the battery cells made of these materials will have a
key impact on the quality of high-voltage batteries used in future
  models with electrified propulsion.

Press Contact: Oleg Satanovsky
Tel: +1-201-307-3755
E-mail: oleg.satanovsky@bmwna.com

Press Release,Research & Development,Concept Vehicles & Design,Drive Technologies,Efficient Dynamics,Mobility of the future

Four wins in the latest International Engine of
the Year Awards plainly demonstrate the BMW Group’s engine-building
prowess. The drive unit in the BMW i8 earned two class wins as well as
being declared overall winner, with a further class win being garnered
by the engine of the BMW M3 and BMW M4.

The BMW i8 unit was voted class winner for its BMW TwinPower Turbo
three-cylinder petrol engine, while the overall drive unit of the BMW
i8 claimed a further class win as the best “new engine”. Its
combination of electric motor and petrol engine also earned it overall
victory. In the 2.5 to 3.0-litre displacement category, the M
TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder in-line petrol engine of the BMW M3 and
BMW M4 came out on top.

This fourfold success for the BMW Group at the International Engine
of the Year Awards 2015 furnishes further evidence of the performance
potential of the Efficient Dynamics technology package, which since
2007 has enabled a continuous enhancement of driving pleasure while at
the same time cutting fuel consumption and emissions.

The International Engine of the Year Awards were launched in 1999,
since when 66 class and overall wins have gone to engines developed
for BMW models. Each year an expert panel of judges, this time
comprising 65 motoring journalists from 31 countries, selects the best
engines in numerous categories. The prize-winners were presented with
their awards on Wednesday, 17 June 2015, against the backdrop of the
Engine Expo trade fair in Stuttgart.

The three-cylinder combustion engine in the BMW i8 develops
170 kW/231 hp and drives the rear wheels, while the 96 kW/131 hp
electric motor draws its energy from a lithium-ion battery, which can
be charged from a conventional domestic power socket, and sends its
power to the front axle. This bespoke plug-in hybrid system, developed
and produced by the BMW Group, enables a range of up to 37 kilometres
(23 miles) in the EU test cycle and a top speed of 120 km/h (75 mph)
on electric power alone, coupled with a “glued-to-the-road” all-wheel
driving experience headlined by powerful acceleration and a
dynamically-biased distribution of power through keenly taken corners.
The more powerful of the two sources drives the rear wheels and uses
the electric boost from the hybrid system to deliver hallmark BMW
driving pleasure while at the same time offering ground breaking
levels of efficiency. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) takes
just 4.4 seconds, yet combined fuel consumption – as calculated in the
EU test cycle for plug-in hybrid vehicles – stands at 2.1 litres per
100 kilometres (approx. 135 mpg imp) plus 11.9 kWh of electricity.
This equates to CO2 emissions of 49 grams per kilometre.

The M TwinPower Turbo six-in-line petrol engine in the BMW M3 and BMW
M4 is exceptionally high-revving for a turbocharged engine, resulting
in linear power delivery over a wide engine speed range and a unique
engine note. M TwinPower Turbo technology ensures that peak torque is
on tap over a broad rpm range. A further hallmark of this engine is
  its outstanding efficiency.

Further information on official fuel consumption figures, specific
CO2 emission values and the electric power consumption of new
passenger cars is included in the following guideline: “Leitfaden über
Kraftstoffverbrauch, die CO2-Emissionen und den Stromverbrauch neuer
Personenkraftwagen” (Guideline for fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and
electric power consumption of new passenger cars), which can be

BMW announced today the production version of the BMW ActiveHybrid X6. The BMW ActiveHybrid X6 will make its world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA) in September and will reach US BMW Centers in fourth-quarter 2009. ActiveHybrid technology provides a glimpse into the future, achieving outstanding driving dynamics with equally impressive efficiency. It melds both of these qualities to offer a truly unique driving experience. The world's first Sports Activity Coupe with full hybrid drive capitalizes on the options offered by combining the combustion engine with electric motors to create a powertrain with new levels dynamic performance and efficiency.

BMW ActiveHybrid technology offers a significant increase in driving dynamics and at the same time reduces fuel consumption by approximately 20 percent versus a comparable vehicle powered by a combustion engine alone. The result is even greater driving pleasure combined with enhanced fuel economy and CO2 management providing the kind of progress to make the BMW ActiveHybrid X6 a genuine BMW in the hybrid market.

The overall drive system featured in the BMW ActiveHybrid X6 consists of a 400 hp twin-turbocharged V8 gasoline engine and two electric synchronous motors delivering 91 hp and 86 hp, respectively. Maximum system output is 480 hp, and peak torque reaches 575 lb-ft.

Precisely controlled interaction of the three power units optimizes the overall efficiency of the BMW ActiveHybrid X6 at all speeds, with acceleration from a standstill to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds. Top speed of the BMW ActiveHybrid X6 is limited electronically to 130 mph, with average fuel consumption in the EU test cycle improved by roughly 20%, and a CO2 emission rating of 231 grams per kilometer. EPA ratings will be available closer to the market introduction.

BMW’s first full hybrid model is able to run exclusively on electric power – and that is entirely free of CO2 – up to a speed of 37 mph (60 km/h), with the combustion engine being activated automatically whenever required.

These performance figures are made possible by utilizing a two-mode active transmission. The ideal combination of the two power modes can be controlled for enhanced efficiency and dynamic performance in any driving condition. With the two electric motors, three planetary gearsets and four multi-plate clutches, drive power is transmitted through a 7-speed automatic transmission. As would be expected in a BMW, the driver can operate the transmission manually. BMW’s lauded xDrive all-wheel-drive system distributes the power between the front and rear axles.

The electric motors receive their energy from an NiMH high-performance battery pack positioned beneath the floor of the luggage compartment. This battery pack also feeds electric power to the vehicle’s on-board network. Luggage compartment capacity is therefore the same as on the original BMW X6. On brake application and/or on deceleration, kinetic energy is converted into electrical energy and is stored in the battery pack. To provide this function either one or both of the electric motors act as a generator, feeding electric power generated back into the high-voltage battery.

Unique efficiency ensured by two-mode active transmission.
BMW ActiveHybrid technology has been developed specifically for use in a particularly dynamic vehicle and for a broad range of practical use. The big advantage, therefore, is optimization of drivetrain efficiency in all speed ranges and conditions.

The two-mode active transmission is based on an ECVT (electric continuously variable transmission) operating in two separate modes. One mode is for stop-and-go driving and low speeds, and the second is for driving at higher speeds.

From a stop and at low speeds, only one of the two electric motors is activated. As soon as the driver requires more power or increased speed, the second electric motor automatically starts the combustion engine. The second electric motor then serves as a generator to provide a supply of electric power to the vehicle systems. When driving steadily at a higher speed most of the power required is delivered by the combustion engine in a largely mechanical process. Here again, one of the two electric motors acts as a generator.

The mechanical components, including three planetary gearsets and the two electric motors, combine to provide for seven total effective gears. This configuration manages the power generated by the combustion engine and two electric motors in a way that maximizes driving versatility.

Twin-turbocharged V8 gasoline engine with High Precision Direct Injection.
The combustion engine is the innovative reverse-flow V8 first featured in the BMW X6 xDrive50i. The world’s first V8 gasoline engine with two turbochargers in the V-section between the two rows of cylinders develops power throughout the entire engine speed range. The spontaneous and direct response of this engine results from its compact configuration, which allows the shortest exhaust manifolds.

Displacing 4.4 liters, this outstanding engine delivers its maximum output of 400 hp between 5,500 and 6,400 rpm. Peak torque of 450 lb-ft is maintained from 1,750 to 4,500 rpm, with High Precision Direct Injection ensuring precise supply of fuel at all times. Piezo-injectors positioned in the combustion chambers between the valves ensure a smooth, efficient and clean combustion process. The engine fulfils the European EU5 standard as well as the ULEV II standards in the US.

Compared with the engine featured in the BMW X6 xDrive50i, this version has been modified in numerous respects to the specific requirements of the BMW ActiveHybrid X6. There is no starter, alternator, or belt drive for the air-conditioning compressor and hydraulic pump. The dual-circuit cooling system has been modified for all-electric operation.

Electric motors for enhanced performance on no extra fuel.
When accelerating, the V8 engine of the BMW ActiveHybrid X6 joins forces with the electric motors to ensure optimum efficiency and dynamic performance. When the driver requires more power, the two electric motors supply additional torque for enhanced performance. This boost effect significantly increases the overall output of the vehicle, without increasing fuel consumption.

While the two electric motors have almost the same output, they have been modified in their performance characteristics to meet specific requirements. The power delivered is 91 hp and 86 hp, respectively, with peak torque values of 192 lb-ft and 206 lb-ft.

The electric motors support the combustion engine effectively throughout the entire speed range. The additional electrically-generated drive power reduces the power output required of the combustion engine when driving at steady highway speeds. Load shifts are managed to give the overall system enhanced efficiency under the full spectrum of driving conditions. During kick-down and maximum acceleration shifts, the electric motors help provide an additional boost of power.

Maximum system output is 480 hp, with peak torque of 575 lb-ft. This makes the BMW ActiveHybrid X6 the most powerful hybrid vehicle in the world, with acceleration from a standstill to 60 mph in just 5.4 seconds and top speed is limited electronically to 130 mph.

All-electrical driving mode reducing emissions to zero.
With its combination of two-mode active transmission and high-performance battery pack, the BMW ActiveHybrid X6 is able to run on its electric motors alone at low speeds. This makes it a zero-emission vehicle under such conditions.

The BMW ActiveHybrid X6 may run on electric power alone regardless of the ambient temperature, as long as minimum operating temperatures are reached for the engine coolant, transmission fluid and high-voltage battery. Top speed in the electric mode is 37 mph, maximum range is 1.6 miles.

While driving electrically, the BMW ActiveHybrid X6 retains all its safety and comfort functions. The brakes remain fully operative thanks to electric vacuum supply, and don’t require the combustion engine to develop their full effect. The same applies to the Electronic Power Steering, with steering assistance being generated on demand by an electric motor.

Even the air conditioning remains fully available without any restrictions, running efficiently on an electrically operated air-conditioning compressor. Since the battery pack supplies the electric power to the 12-volt on-board network through a voltage converter, all other systems such as the lights, infotainment, and safety systems remain fully functional.

Energy Regeneration:
Electric power generated without additional fuel consumption.
The BMW ActiveHybrid X6 features an enhanced version of Brake Energy Regeneration already used in some current BMW models running on a combustion engine alone. In this case the electric motors act as generators when coasting or applying the brakes in order to feed electric power into the battery pack.

This process recaptures energy which would otherwise be lost in conventional vehicles in the form of heat escaping through the brakes. Depending on road speed, one or both of the electric motors may perform the regeneration function.

The power delivered by the generator is approximately 50 kW, about 25 times as much as the power provided by BMW’s original Brake Energy Regeneration.

Generator delivering electrical braking force.
In the generator mode, the two electric motors recapture much of the energy that must be dissipated to slow the vehicle. The stopping force generated in this way is up to 0.3 G, significantly reducing the demands on the mechanical brake system.

Sensotronic Brake Actuation (SBA) in the BMW Active Hybrid X6 may be used at any time without a direct mechanical connection between the brake pedal and the hydraulic circuit. Pedal movement is recorded by sensors and split by a control unit into brake power generated by regeneration and conventional hydraulic braking. At the same time an integrated pedal force simulator generates the usual brake feeling for the driver as an additional factor in this brake-by-wire solution.

The active brake servo builds up brake pressure with electrical control according to the signals emitted by the control unit. To ensure brake power assistance also in the all-electric mode, the BMW ActiveHybrid X6 employs an electrical vacuum pump. A mechanical failsafe function guarantees full operation of the brake system in the event of a failure or a fault in the electrical system. In this case, the stopping power required is generated by the hydraulic system alone, like on a conventional vehicle.

The primary task of the SBA system is to maximize the use of brake force available through the regeneration process. Via the xDrive powertrain, the hybrid system in the BMW ActiveHybrid X6 is able to transmit regenerative brake forces to all four wheels. And whenever the stopping power required exceeds the level of 3 meters/sec, the control unit builds up additional brake force through the mechanical brake by means of the active brake servo.

In braking situations critical to driving stability, the control unit receives additional signals from Dynamic Stability Control, affecting brakes and engine management to keep the vehicle safely on course. This ensures safe braking under all conditions, regardless of whether the stopping power needed is generated electrically or hydraulically.

All driving stability systems are tailored to the dynamic character of the BMW ActiveHybrid X6. Dynamic Traction Control, for example, provides maximum traction and drive power on loose surfaces such as snow or sand thanks to its higher slip thresholds. And with the DTC mode activated, the driver may opt for a particularly sporting style of driving all the way to a controlled slip in corners.

BMW xDrive: intelligent all-wheel drive for extra performance, optimum driving stability and traction.
The sporty driving behavior of the BMW ActiveHybrid X6 is due largely to BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system. Electronically controlled, variable distribution of drive power front-to-rear gives the BMW ActiveHybrid X6 superior traction and enhanced driving dynamics.

xDrive features smooth division of drive power through a transfer case with an electronically controlled multiple-plate clutch that feeds power to the axle with optimum wheel contact and grip on the road. Under normal conditions BMW xDrive distributes drive power to the front and rear axle in a 40:60 split. Sensors constantly measure wheel slip at both the front and rear, and varies the balance of drive power within a fraction of a second. Unlike conventional all-wheel-drive systems, xDrive “looks ahead” and does not only respond when a wheel has already begun to spin.

Electronic Power Steering for even greater efficiency.
The BMW ActiveHybrid X6 is the first Sports Activity Vehicle to feature Electronic Power Steering. This allows variable steering assistance both when driving with the combustion engine and in the all-electric mode.

Electronic Power Steering on the BMW ActiveHybrid X6 comes complete with fully integrated speed-related Servotronic steering assistance. Servotronic reduces assistance at high speeds ensuring not only directional stability but also extremely precise steering behavior in corner. At low speeds, on the other hand, for example when parking, extra power assistance significantly reduces the steering forces required.

Liquid cooling for even greater performance on the high-performance battery pack.
The high-voltage, nickel-metal hydrid technology (NiMH) battery pack featured in the BMW ActiveHybrid X6 has a total capacity of 2.4 kWh, with 1.4 kWh available nominally. Maximum output is 57 kW, with the battery’s control unit constantly determining the output level currently available as well as the charge status of the battery.

The high-performance battery pack comes with its own liquid cooling system incorporating a heat exchanger to cool the battery pack through the flow of air from the outside and, additionally, through a cooling circuit from the air conditioning system. These two circuits are activated either individually or in combination with one another, depending on need, with the control unit selecting the most effective and efficient cooling option as a function of ambient temperature and the temperature of the battery pack.

Cooling by the air conditioning system is activated by an appropriate switch valve, with the electrical climate compressor being switched on automatically whenever required. The battery cooling function is separate from the vehicle interior cooling function. Using the air conditioning system for battery pack cooling is far more efficient and effective than using air cooling alone to maintain the battery pack at the optimum operating temperature thereby preserving the hybrid functions longer in extreme weather and sport driving conditions. As befits The Ultimate Driving Machine, the BMW X6 ActiveHybrid provides a driving experience like no other hybrid in the marketplace.

Intelligent energy management and integral safety concept.
The electronics for BMW ActiveHybrid have been developed especially for energy efficiency and driving flexibility. The control system constantly controls the distribution of energy as a function of ambient conditions, the status of the vehicle, and the demands made by the driver. The two overriding control factors are the charge status of the battery pack and the capture of energy generated through regeneration.

The BMW ActiveHybrid X6 fulfills BMW’s integral safety concepts that have been updated for hybrid vehicles. Examples of the features of this safety concept are the different colors of cables to avoid confusion, the presentation of clear safety warnings, and protection of the entire electrical system via extra-large insulation panels and newly developed connectors.

The high-voltage battery pack is housed in a reinforced steel casing and is located just above the rear axle at an extremely safe location in the event of a collision. The status of the battery pack is constantly supervised by integrated safety electronics, and the driver will be informed immediately of any malfunction and, if necessary, the entire system can be automatically discharged and deactivated. In the event of a crash, the system is switched off automatically within a fraction of a second. The central safety electronics then assess the severity of the accident and ensure a safe operating mode if possible.

Hybrid-specific Auto Start Stop function.
The BMW ActiveHybrid X6 is equipped with a new generation of Auto Start Stop technology, specifically tailored to the requirements of a hybrid vehicle. Auto Start Stop functions at all ambient temperatures. While the engine is switched off, the electric air-conditioning compressor automatically maintains the climate and temperature desired within the passenger compartment. All other electrically operated functions continue uninterrupted, with the on-board network supplied with power from the battery pack. The hybrid Auto Start Stop can be deactivated by choosing the Manual gearshift mode on the automatic transmission.

Displays inform the driver of the operating status and efficiency of the hybrid system.
Status of the hybrid system and current operating conditions are presented in two locations. The most important information is shown in the instrument cluster, separated according to operating mode. Further information and technical explanations are shown in the Central Display.

The drive displays are split into a conventional tachometer for the combustion engine and electric drive display in the lower part of the instrument cluster. The electric drive display shows the charge status of the battery pack, the regeneration status, and the electric motor operating status. In the Central Display, this information is supplemented by additional data on current operating conditions and the current flow of energy.

Specific set-up of the suspension and the lightweight brakes.
The chassis and suspension of the BMW Active Hybrid X6 is largely the same as the technology already featured on the BMW X6 xDrive50i. The front suspension is a double A-arm configuration ensuring excellent driving dynamics, comfort, and directional stability. Self-leveling with air suspension provides a constant ride height, even when carrying a heavy load.

Lightweight brakes decelerate the BMW ActiveHybrid X6 by means of aluminum floating calipers and brake rotors incorporating aluminum hubs (or hats). Lightweight materials engineering reduces unsprung mass and improves the vehicle’s driving comfort and agility. Brake disc diameter is 15.2 inches up front and 13.6 inches at the rear.

20-inch light-alloy Aero wheels featuring an aerodynamically optimized design have been developed exclusively for the BMW ActiveHybrid X6. 19-inch light-alloy wheels with all-season tires are available as an option. In each case the tires feature runflat technology which enables the driver to continue driving after a complete loss of pressure.

Bodyshell and safety: intelligent lightweight construction, optimized occupant safety.
Intelligent lightweight construction and a special body structure for maximum rigidity also characterize the unibody of the BMW ActiveHybrid X6.

The BMW ActiveHybrid X6 comes with three-point inertia-reel seat belts for all seats featuring belt force limiters and belt pretensioners on the front seats. To protect the occupants from cervical spine injury in the event of a collision at the rear, the front seats feature crash-activated headrests, the rear seats come as standard with ISOFIX child seat fastenings. The vehicle is equipped with frontal and hip thorax airbags, and side-curtain head airbags.

All restraint systems are controlled by central safety electronics including rollover sensors. The system can activate the side-curtain airbags and belt pretensioners in the event of an impending rollover.

Standard adaptive bi-xenon headlights ensure optimum illumination of the road ahead by steering with the vehicle. A daytime running light function operates through the corona rings. The BMW ActiveHybrid X6 also features a windshield-mounted sensor that automatically controls the lights and windshield wipers on demand. Additional comfort at night is provided by available Automatic High Beams which will automatically dim the high beam headlights when an oncoming vehicle is detected. The standard Head-Up Display projects information relevant to the driver onto the windscreen.

The BMW ActiveHybrid X6: Sports Activity Coupe of the highest standard, BMW ActiveHybrid with maximum efficiency.
The BMW ActiveHybrid X6 combines an innovative vehicle concept with cutting-edge drivetrain technology to provide a truly unique driving experience. The enhancement of both dynamic performance and efficiency gives BMW’s Sports Activity Coupe additional appeal. BMW ActiveHybrid technology helps to achieve a high level of efficiency in this versatile model.

From outside the BMW ActiveHybrid X6 differs from the conventional-drivetrain models in only a few details. With its elegant and dynamically flowing roofline and features typical of a BMW, the Sports Activity Coupe offers a uniquely sporting rendition of this very special vehicle with its unprecedented character, now as a full hybrid variant.

The “powerdome” hood distinguishes the vehicle from outside, “ActiveHybrid” model designations on the tailgate trim bar and the front doors as well as Bluewater Metallic paint offered for the first time on a BMW X6. Apart from the specific hybrid displays in the instrument cluster, door entry trim covers bearing the designation “BMW ActiveHybrid” on the driver’s and front passenger’s doors add a particular highlight and sign of distinction.

BMW Ultimate ServiceTM:
Providing owners with incredible value and peace of mind
The 2010 BMW ActiveHybrid X6 will feature BMW Ultimate ServiceTM, a suite of services that includes the BMW Maintenance Program (formerly called Full Maintenance), Roadside Assistance and the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. The new BMW
X5 grows in size and luxury yet further improves upon the driving dynamics that
made the first iteration of the X5 such a success. The new X5 will be
available with an expanded array of available options - one of which is a third
row, seven passenger seating option. The new X5 is now on sale in the USA.
The second premiere was the new BMW Hydrogen 7, the world's first
hydrogen-drive luxury performance automobile. The Hydrogen 7 - which has
fulfilled all of the criteria of BMW's rigorous product development process -
will be built in a limited series and will be driven by selected users in the
US and other countries in 2007. The Hydrogen 7 is based on BMW's familiar 7
Series model and is equipped with an internal combustion engine capable of
running either on hydrogen or on gasoline.

The new BMW Hydrogen 7
With the BMW Hydrogen 7, the BMW Group is laying down a marker for sustainable
mobility. This car will play a pioneering role in driving forward hydrogen
technologies. BMW has gained an excellent reputation for significantly
reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by using ultra efficient, yet very
dynamic gasoline engines. Together with clean, performance diesel engines and
the technologically advanced hybrid systems currently under development within
the BMW EfficientDynamics project, the BMW Group has a clear strategy for
sustainable mobility - with hydrogen as the ultimate goal.

Hydrogen technology dramatically reduces emissions generated by personal
transport and, in particular, minimizes the emission of CO2. Running in the
hydrogen mode, the BMW Hydrogen 7 essentially emits nothing but water vapor.

With all the comforts and amenities of a non-hydrogen BMW 7 Series, the BMW
Hydrogen 7 is powered by a 260 bhp twelve-cylinder engine that accelerates from
0-62.1 mph in 9.5 seconds. Top speed is limited electronically to 143 mph. The
BMW Hydrogen 7 also features a dual-mode power unit - controlled at the touch
of a button - that can switch quickly and conveniently from hydrogen to
conventional premium gasoline.

The car's dual-mode drive provides a hydrogen mode cruising range of more than
125 miles, with another 300 miles in the gasoline mode. With this overall
cruising range of more than 400 miles, the driver of a BMW Hydrogen 7 is able
to use the vehicle without problem even when the nearest hydrogen filling
station is far away. This technology is a viable solution until the hydrogen
infrastructure is fully developed.

The BMW Hydrogen 7 emphatically proves that changing over to an alternative
form of energy doesn't mean missing out on superior driving dynamics and
comfort. The departure from fossil fuel does not in any way mean giving up the
dynamics and performance typical of a BMW. The mobility of tomorrow and
driving pleasure of today are compatible, with the drive concept of BMW
Hydrogen 7 being directly transferable to future models. Driving a car of this
caliber will be just as thrilling in the future as it is today, but at the same
time cleaner than ever before.

The new BMW X5
When it arrived nearly seven years ago, BMW's X5 could have simply added
another respected premium nameplate to the ranks of sport-utility vehicles.
Instead, it redefined the class. BMW's description of that original X5 as a
"Sports Activity Vehicle" represented a new approach to the concept of a
traditional SUV - one that linked handling, performance and agility to the
conventional attributes of practicality, versatility and off-road ability. The
result was some 618,000 X5s were produced in BMW's Spartanburg, South Carolina
factory. For 2007, BMW expands and refines that definition with an all-new X5,
one that includes an even higher level of achievement in each of those original
concepts.

In the area of versatility, the new X5 is now available with a third row
seating option which will fold flat - along with the second row to provide a
roomier cargo area and greater flexibility of usage than its predecessor. The
luxury of the X5 has been enhanced with high quality interior materials and
design. An extended color, trim and option list allows a customer to tailor
the X5 to exactly their specifications.

Finally, in spite of the larger dimensions, increased versatility and luxury,
the performance that made the original X5 such a strong product has been
thoroughly enhanced in this new model. As in previous years, the X5 offers a
choice of 6-cylinder or V-8 performance: the X5 3.0si and the 4.8i, both of
which offer better performance and excellent efficiency. The flagship 4.8i
boasts BMW's all-aluminum Valvetronic V-8, boosted to 4.8 liters and 350
horsepower. The 3.0si features BMW's new 260-horsepower aluminum/magnesium
inline-6. Standard equipment on both models is a new 6-speed STEPTRONIC
automatic. BMW's outstanding xDrive all-wheel-drive system continues, enhanced
via a closer link between the xDrive electronics and the X5's Dynamic Stability
Control to provide even quicker, more accurate response.

New Products for 2007
BMW also presented a number of new for 2007 products today. The 3 Series Coupe
continues to raise the level of luxury and performance from which all sport
coupes are judged. In true BMW tradition, it also establishes new standards of
performance and driving dynamics with the introduction of an exceptional
engine: the 335i Coupe features a new inline six-cylinder engine with
twin-turbochargers, high precision fuel injection, and an all-aluminum
crankcase with an output of 300 horsepower. The 335i Coupe will be joined in
the U.S. by the 230 horsepower 328i Coupe. The 328i Coupe will also will be
offered with xDrive all-wheel drive for the first time. The 3 Series sedans
also benefit from the engines developed for the coupes. For 2007, the 3 Series
sedan will be offered both as a 328i and as a twin-turbo 335i.

Building on its reputation as an agile, fun to drive, attainable BMW Sports
Activity Vehicle, the X3 has received a significant freshening for the 2007
model year. It begins, of course, with a performance upgrade. The BMW X3
3.0si - as it is now called - is powered by the award-winning
aluminum/magnesium 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine, featuring VALVETRONIC
technology. In the X3 3.0si, this engine produces 260 hp at 6,600 rpm and 225
lb-ft of torque at 2,500 rpm. This represents an increase of 35 horsepower and
11 lb-ft of torque over the model it replaces. True to its BMW heritage, the
X3 3.0si is offered with a six-speed manual as standard equipment. A new
six-speed STEPTRONIC automatic transmission is a no cost option in place of the
previous 5-speed. It also includes revamped exterior styling, an increase in
the level of interior refinement as well as new luxury and performance oriented
options.

The BMW 7 Series is the introductory "canvas" for BMW Individual in the USA.
The BMW Individual offering will provide 7 Series customers with a selection of
distinctive paints and interior treatments allowing them to individualize their
vehicles to reflect their own tastes and personality. BMW Individual was
established in 1991 as a division of BMW M GmbH with the goal of leading the
trend towards more individuality by concentrating on customers who were looking
for made-to-measure solutions in terms of distinction, design and function.

The available BMW Individual exterior paints are developed using special
Xirallic paints and a 5-coat process that picks up fine pigments in the coating
to create constantly changing nuances in the finish, giving greater color
intensity and dramatic two-tonal effects.

The interior is fitted with the highest quality Merino full-leather upholstery,
Alcantara headliner and unique interior trim - including Piano varnish wood
trim. Illuminated BMW Individual doorsills, distinctive 20" BMW Individual
wheels and the convenient storage net in the front passenger foot well provide
the additional premium touches to complement the BMW Individual 7 Series.

Press Contact: Thomas Plucinsky
Tel: +1-201-307-3701
E-mail: thomas.plucinsky@bmwna.com

Press Release,X5,Efficient Dynamics,Sedan,Product,BMW

BMW is making two significant debuts at
the Los Angeles International Auto Show - one in concept form, the H2R record
car; the other a production car, the M3 Competition Package. Both are
expressions of BMW's commitment to dynamic performance.

BMW H2R sets nine world speed records
BMW has proven what the hydrogen car is capable of, setting 9 records for cars
powered by a hydrogen-fuelled internal combustion engine. "Nine records marking
the start into the hydrogen age. BMW technology has already come a long way.
Now, together with politicians and the energy industry, we must turn our vision
of sustained mobility into reality," stated Professor Burkhard Göschel, Board
Member of the BMW Group, during the speed record trials in Miramas, France.
Achieving this amazing success at the high-speed Miramas Proving Grounds, the
BMW Group has clearly proven its conviction that hydrogen is able to replace
conventional fuel without requiring the driver to compromise dynamic
performance.

The specifications of the H2R Record Car are a testament to this possibility.
The 6-liter V12 engine develops an output of 285 horsepower. This engine
propels the BMW prototype to 100 km/h (62 mph) in approximately 6 seconds and
gives it a top speed of more than 186 mph, in excess of 300 km/h. Based on the
gasoline engine featured in the BMW 760i, BMW's hydrogen combustion engine
boasts advanced technologies such as BMW's fully variable VALVETRONIC valve
drive.

The main modifications to the engine involve the fuel injection system adapted
by BMW to the special attributes and requirements of hydrogen. The H2R Record
Car benefits from the results gained in series development of BMW's future
hydrogen engine for the world's first premium sedan built for dual-mode
operation.

BMW will launch a dual-mode version of the current 7 Series during the
production cycle of the present model, thus introducing the first car of its
kind able to run on both hydrogen and gasoline.

The H2R prototype set the following records shown here in terms of times
measured and speed achieved:
time in sec speed in mph
- Flying-start kilometer: 11.993 186.520
- Flying-start mile: 19.999 180.014
- Standing-start 1/8 mile: 9.937 45.285
- Standing-start ¼ mile: 14.967 60.132
- Standing-start ½ kilometer: 17.342 64.495
- Standing-start mile: 36.850 97.693
- Standing-start 10 miles: 221.773 162.328
- Standing-start kilometer: 26.749 83.627
- Standing-start 10 kilometers: 146.409 152.787

These results have been certified by the FIA. BMW works drivers Alfred Hilger,
Jörg Weidinger and Günther Weber took turns at the wheel of the Record Car
during their record-breaking session.

The BMW H2R Record Car was conceived, designed and developed by BMW Forschung
und Technik GmbH, the legendary subsidiary of BMW AG. The expressive,
purposeful exterior design was created by DesignworksUSA, the California-based
strategic design consultancy owned by BMW Group. The name "H2R" stands for
"Hydrogen Record Car".

BMW's motive in setting these records was not only to prove the power and
performance of the hydrogen engine. In addition, the reliability and durability
of the technology used clearly demonstrates BMW's leadership in developing the
hydrogen engine to production standards. In this process BMW is concentrating
on the combustion engine, simply because the combustion power unit, given the
sum total of all its features and characteristics, still offers the largest
number of advantages and benefits all in one.

The M3 Competition Package - for the discerning driver who seeks the ultimate
in handling and responsiveness.
Already renowned for its performance and handling, the Competition Package
takes M3 performance to the razor's edge. Every aspect of the M3's handling
has been tweaked resulting in the best-handling M3 ever.

The wheels are 19-inch forged-alloys with high-performance tires. They connect
to a suspension that has been tuned specifically for the Competition Package.
Turn-in is quicker with a more direct steering ratio which goes from 15.4:1 to
14.5:1.

M Track mode and brake system taken from the BMW M3 CSL
The Dynamic Stability Control system includes a less intrusive M track mode, as
on the M3 CSL, ensuring the security of DSC and spirited driving too. For
inclement conditions the regular DSC mode remains. The brakes, also adopted
from the M3 CSL, include compound and cross-drilled rotors. The front rotors
have also been enlarged from12.8 to13.6 inches.

As the serious enthusiast would expect, the Competition Package is available in
combination with the standard six-speed manual or the optional Sequential
Manual Gearbox.

The interior enhancements of the package are subtle but purposeful. The
Alcantara steering wheel and handbrake grip feel good to the touch. The
addition of the steering wheel-mounted button for the DSC M track mode requires
the deletion of the multi-function controls and cruise control. The
Competition Package is available with all M3 Coupe interior and exterior color
combinations. Two trim items are exclusive to the Competition Package.
Special Competition Package aluminum trim is included on the interior. A new
exterior color, Interlagos Blue, is offered only with this package.

The Competition Package will be available for 2005 M3 Coupes beginning with
December 2004 production. The price for the package will be $4,000.

Press Contact: Thomas Plucinsky
Tel: +1-201-307-3701
E-mail: thomas.plucinsky@bmwna.com

Press Release,Efficient Dynamics

Erren Award and Robert M. Zweig Award Presented to Dr. Burkhard Göschel</pp:summary>

Rudolph E. Erren Award and Robert M. Zweig Award Presented to Dr. Burkhard
Göschel

Munich, Germany. BMW won two international awards at the 14th World Hydrogen
Congress that took place from June 9th through 13th, 2002, in Montreal. The
National Hydrogen Association honored Dr. Burkhard Göschel, BMW Director of
Development and Purchasing, with the Robert M. Zweig Memorial Public Education
and Outreach Award, for his achievements in connection with the introduction of
hydrogen as an automotive fuel. The International Association for Hydrogen
(IAHE) also presented the Rudolph E. Erren Award to BMW, "for outstanding
efforts in the development and commercialization of hydrogen vehicles."

The National Hydrogen Association sought to pay recognition in particular to
the "achievements and leadership" of Dr. Göschel, who was responsible for
initiating the BMW CleanEnergy World Tour. The tour, which was also visiting
Montreal during the World Hydrogen Congress, is part of BMW Group's worldwide
effort to establish hydrogen as a fuel for automobiles.

The Robert M. Zweig award, awarded for the very first time, is named after the
California physician and hydrogen pioneer who died on February 15th, 2002 at
the age of 77. Right until the time of his death, Dr. Zweig devoted himself for
35 years to establishing hydrogen as a fuel resource. His efforts were
primarily triggered by the need to improve air quality in the metropolitan area
of Los Angeles.

The International Association for Hydrogen (IAHE) is a leading worldwide body
of hydrogen scientists. Rudolph Erren was a German engineer who solved the
problem of hydrogen backfiring in internal combustion engines by using an
injection system. In the 1930s, he equipped around 1,000 cars, trucks, buses
and locomotives in Germany and England with hydrogen-fuelled engines.

Dr. Burkhard Göschel stated, "While it is me accepting these awards, they go to
our whole team and our whole company. We are very proud that our efforts are so
highly recognized... With the CleanEnergy World Tour, we have sought a
completely new approach, because our aim is to offer a viable long-term
solution to the issue of "mobility". That is also why we, as the first
automobile manufacturer in the world, are developing a hydrogen car in the
luxury class right up to series production readiness."

Participation in the World Energy Conference was one of the high points in the
BMW CleanEnergy World Tour 2002. Several thousand experts from around the globe
attended the event, which focused on the future of the hydrogen world in detail
in over 350 papers and panels with the aim of moving it forward. In the new
Science Center of Montreal, the BMW Group showed the international delegates
and Canadian guests its automobile concepts for the future: the BMW 745h as a
prototype for the coming 7 Series with hydrogen engine, and the MINI Cooper
Hydrogen Package Study. Both vehicles have a hydrogen-fuelled internal
combustion engine, but otherwise offer all the qualities and characteristics of
the high-performance models on which they are based.

The two awards are the latest highlights in a whole series of prizes, which BMW
Group has already received for its efforts in the field of hydrogen. The BMW
CleanEnergy concept was, for example, awarded the 2001 Energy Innovation Prize.
This is given for the most innovative idea in the field of energy and is
awarded annually by "Energiewirtschaftliche Tagesfragen", a publication that is
based in Essen, Germany, and is devoted to energy issues of all kinds, and the
Institute for International Research Germany, one of the world's leading
providers of business information. The BMW concept, which aims at establishing
hydrogen as an environmentally friendly, regenerative fuel of the future, won
this award in spite of numerous competitors. The substantiation for the award
to BMW states, among other things: "The BMW Group holds a pioneering position
in this field. The company has devoted major human and financial resources to
testing the use of hydrogen as a virtually emission-free automotive fuel and to
developing
many of the components required for this purpose. It is the first automobile
company in the world to produce a small series of hydrogen-powered vehicles."

BMW had previously also won the international "Energy Globe". The award,
together with a cash prize of 10,000 euros, is awarded for projects that make a
decisive contribution to energy saving and the use of regenerative energies.
The Austrian prize, for which there were 1,230 contenders from 83 countries,
was given in five categories by a jury of international experts. BMW Group was
the first and only automobile manufacturer to receive a special prize, namely
for its CleanEnergy WorldTour hydrogen project.

BMW Group In America

BMW of North America has been present in the United States since 1975. Since
then, the BMW Group in the United States has grown to include marketing, sales
and financial service organizations for the BMW and MINI brands; a South
Carolina manufacturing operation; DESIGNWORKS/USA, an industrial design firm in
California; a technology office in Silicon Valley and various other operations
throughout the country. The BMW Group is represented in the U.S. through
networks of 340 BMW car, 327 BMW Sports Activity Vehicle, 148 BMW Motorcycle
retailers and 59 MINI car dealers. BMW US Holding Corp., the Group's
headquarters for North, Central and South America, is located in Woodcliff
Lake, New Jersey.

Information about BMW Group products is available to consumers via the Internet
at http://www.bmwusa.com http://www.bmwmotorcycles.com and
http://www.miniusa.com.

# # #

Journalist note: Information about the BMW Group and its products is available
to journalists on-line at the BMW Group PressClub at the following address -
https://newsroom.bmwgroup.com/global/en

# # #

Press Contact: Diane Anton
Tel: 201-307-3714
E-mail: id-95-diane.anton@bmwna.com

Press Release,Awards,Efficient Dynamics
