Munich/Oxford. 2026 marks a major milestone for MINI:
25 years ago production of the modern MINI began under BMW Group, a
quarter century defined by innovation, design and unmistakable British
spirit! With its unique place in everyday life, from city streets to
cinema screens, MINI has spent the past 25 years building on its
legacy, combining heritage with modern innovation and driving fun,
winning the hearts of millions of drivers worldwide.

Founded in 1959, Mini was born out of the visionary thinking of Sir
Alec Issigonis, whose revolutionary small‑car concept responded to the
challenges of its time by redefining how space, efficiency and driving
enjoyment could be combined. With its compact dimensions, innovative
front‑wheel‑drive layout and exceptional agility, the classic Mini
quickly transcended its original purpose to become an automotive icon.
Motorsport successes in the 1960s, most notably under the Cooper name,
cemented MINI’s reputation as a car that delivered authentic driving
fun far beyond its size.

Over the decades, Mini became deeply embedded in popular culture,
embraced by artists, designers and drivers alike, and recognised
worldwide as a unique expression of British character. A decisive new
chapter began with the brand’s acquisition by BMW Group, which
preserved Mini’s heritage while opening the door to a sustainable
future. The first modern MINI, engineered by BMW Group, rolled off the
line at Plant Oxford on 26th April 2001, marking the start
of a new chapter, blending its unmistakable design DNA and go‑kart
feeling with modern technology, premium quality and contemporary relevance.

“Marking 25 years of the modern MINI is truly a milestone. Our
unmistakable British roots, unique design, go-kart feeling and playful
spirit have made MINI a global icon. For more than a quarter century,
BMW Group’s expertise has contributed to MINI’s ongoing success.
Thanks to our dedicated global MINI team, the brand continues to
excite and inspire drivers for generations.” said Jean-Philippe
Parain, Head of MINI.

The current model lineup is the most extensive and varied in the
brand’s history, with five models, each reflecting its own unique
character. Powertrain options include fully electric or highly
efficient combustion engines.

Owning a MINI is so much more than simply travelling from A to B – it
is a statement of individuality. With an impressive range of
customization options, every MINI becomes a true reflection of its
owner's unique tastes and character. From selecting paint colors to
choosing upholstery and interior trims, each MINI can be finely
tailored to personal preferences. Over the past 25 years, a host of
options have been offered — among them, the famous bonnet stripes and
the distinctive multi-tone roof stand out. Thanks to innovative
techniques at the Oxford factory, the striking three-color roof design
provides a visual highlight. Special editions have strengthened MINI’s
image internationally and set new trends. In 2026, MINI pays tribute
to British design and playful elegance with the MINI Paul Smith Edition.

In 2025, MINI recorded global sales of 288,290 vehicles. Battery
electric vehicles comprised more than one third of worldwide
deliveries and even surpassed 50% in markets like the Netherlands,
Turkey, Sweden, and China. The sub-brand John Cooper Works reached an
all-time high with 25,630 units sold, representing 8.9% of the total
MINI volume.

Since joining the BMW Group, MINI has experienced a remarkable
evolution, continuously developing yet remaining faithful to its
heritage. BMW’s expertise has been actively integrated into MINI for
more than 25 years, introducing advancements such as enhanced user
interfaces, innovative assistant features and improved safety systems.
The latest generations of the MINI family impressively demonstrate the
safety commitment: numerous 5-star ratings in the Euro NCAP crash test
confirm the high level of protection offered.

MINI manufacturing in British BMW Group Plants

Over the past 25 years, modern MINI production has evolved across
four model generations, spanning a range of body styles including the
original 3-door, 5-door, Roadster, Coupe, Clubman, Clubvan and
Convertible. In total, 4,671,664 MINIs have now been built in Britain
since 2001.

MINI’s modern era has been powered by its UK production heartland. At
the centre of that story are two UK manufacturing hubs: Plant Oxford,
the home of MINI production, and BMW Group Plant Swindon, where
thousands of precision-engineered body panels are crafted every day.

Together, these two sites represent one of the UK’s most significant
automotive manufacturing hubs, with a workforce of more than 3,000
highly skilled people producing around 800 MINIs a day. At Plant
Oxford, a new MINI drives off the production line every 78 seconds.

Plants Oxford and Swindon have been at the heart of their communities
for a very long time – 113 and 70 years respectively. The wider
production story took another important step in 2006 when BMW Group
Plant Hams Hall in North Warwickshire began producing engines for the
MINI, with more than 4.6 million engines produced for the Oxford-built models.

Markus Grüneisl, CEO, BMW (UK) Manufacturing Ltd said “This 25-year
milestone is a proud moment for MINI and for everyone involved in its
production here in the UK. From the very beginning, our plants in
Oxford and Swindon have been at the heart of MINI’s global success,
combining exceptional craftsmanship with innovation. Above all, it is
our people – their creativity, expertise and pride in what they do –
that continue to make MINI so special.”

stripes. Instead of the familiar colours, glossy and matt black stripes.

The MINI Cooper S Paul Smith Edition features another colour
developed especially for this edition: Inspired White. The roof in
exclusive Nottingham Green ensures an unmistakable look and adds a
fresh contrast to the external paintwork. The roof edge on the
driver´s side is a real eye-catcher thanks to the colourful Paul Smith
signature stripes.

Additionally, to these two exterior colours, all models in the MINI
Paul Smith Edition are available in the exclusive colour, Statement Grey.

In contrast to the three body colours, Nottingham Green, inspired by
the British designer´s hometown, adorns the side mirrors, octagonal
radiator grille and wheel hub caps with Paul Smith lettering for all
colour variants.

The 18-inch Night Flash Spoke Black alloy wheels with tinted clear
coat in Dark Steel give the MINI Paul Smith Edition a dynamic look.

Interior: British humour and creative details

The interior, which is the same in all variants, features Nightshade
Blue seats and black knitted surfaces with tone-on-tone striped
patterns, exuding understated British elegance. Once the car door is
opened, a light projection welcomes the driver with a friendly
“Hello”. This welcome is complemented by Paul Smith´s central message
“Every day is a new beginning” on the door sill. Another creative
interior centrepiece is the textile band on the 6 o´clock spoke of the
sports steering wheel in Paul Smith´s signature stripes – a
characteristic design feature that underlines the British designer’s
unmistakable style. A hand-drawn graphic of his trademark “rabbit”
adorns the floor mat, emphasizing the brit´s sense of humour and
complementing the interior design in a stylish way.

The fully electric MINI Cooper Paul Smith Edition is already
available in select markets.

The MINI Cooper, the MINI Cooper 5-door and MINI Cooper Convertible
Paul Smith Edition will be available starting Q2/2026.

London / Munich. Paul Smith and MINI – two
traditional British brands have taken their partnership to the next
level and created something great: The new MINI Paul Smith Edition.
Following the MINI STRIP in 2021 and the MINI Recharged by Paul Smith
in 2022, the British designer is now bringing his world-famous design
language – ‘Classic with a twist’ – to the new MINI family. Whether
electric or combustion engine, the edition will be available for all
MINI Cooper 3-door, 5-door and Convertible models, with the exception
of the John Cooper Works models. The look and details not only show
Paul Smith’s signature style — but also the brands playful, optimistic
and independent spirit. The MINI Paul Smith Edition celebrates its
world premiere on October 29 at Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo.

“It’s not often that you see two icons of British design work
together in this way and it’s wonderful that our partnership has
carried on over so many years. The MINI Paul Smith Edition has been a
real privilege and a wonderful opportunity… new colours and new
unexpected details that will be a welcomed surprise,” adds Sir Paul
Smith, expressing his thoughts on the collaboration and the new design.

Unmistakable look with a British
twist.
Combining MINI design with Paul Smith’s
distinctive style: Exclusive exterior colours, sophisticated accents
and unexpected details bring the shared history of MINI and Paul Smith
into the present.

"MINI and Paul Smith embody a shared mindset of positivity,
embracing the motto of this edition: 'Every day is a new beginning.'
Our collaboration celebrates a mutual love for design and meticulous
attention to detail. Unexpected elements, such as the 'hello'
projection on the ground and Paul Smith’s handwritten inscription
bring a smile to your face right upon entering the car," says
Holger Hampf, Head of MINI Design.

The MINI Paul Smith Edition offers a choice of three exterior paint
finishes, two of which are edition-exclusive: Statement Grey is a
modern interpretation of the classic Mini Austin Seven colour from
1959 – a clear, bluish-tinted grey shade and self-confident statement
of timeless modernity. Inspired White is a contemporary homage to the
popular Classic Mini Beige colour, and finally the elegant and classic
Midnight Black Metallic from the current MINI Family.

Regardless of the body colour, the specially created Nottingham Green
paintwork – a tribute to Sir Paul's hometown – adds sophisticated
accents to the side mirrors, the octagonal radiator grille, the wheel
hub covers with Paul Smith lettering and as the paintwork for one of
the two roof variants.

In addition to the colour variants, numerous details characterise
Paul Smith's signature and make the MINI Paul Smith Edition
unmistakable: The ‘Signature Stripe’, a central design feature of the
British designer, adorns the roof in Nottingham Green at the rear of
the driver's side. The alternative version of the roof features
elegant stripes in Jet Black in varying thickness, both matte and
glossy. The MINI Cooper Convertible Paul Smith Edition is supplied
with a black soft top.

All edition vehicles are equipped with 18-inch Night Flash Spoke
black aluminium wheels with tinted clear coat in Dark Steel. The MINI
logo at the front and rear is offered in newly designed Black Blue and
complements the colour composition of Paul Smith and MINI. On the
black horizontal handle strip at the rear, Paul Smith's signature
refers to the creative spirit behind the vehicle design.

British restraint and elegance in the interior.

British character is also reflected in the interior with numerous
components featuring a modern, elegant look. The knitted surfaces on
the dashboard and door panels appear in black, while Paul Smith
fabrics in tone-on-tone stripe patterns serve as inspiration for the
special structure of the dashboard. The Nightshade Blue sports seats
are made of Vescin and have knitted textile in the shoulder and
headrest areas. Drawn from the Signature Stripe, the decorative
stitching on the steering wheel's textile band is designed in bright
colours - quintessentially Paul Smith.

The round display in the centre of the cockpit also appears with one
of three different Paul Smith backgrounds when Personal Mode is
selected. Small hidden details underline the British design influence
- but also the playful character of the designer: when the door is
opened, the driver and front passenger are greeted with a handwritten
‘Hello’ as a light projection on the floor and Smith's motto ‘Every
day is a new beginning’ on the door sill, reflecting the positive
mindset of both brands. A graphic of a stylized ‘rabbit’ hand-drawn
by Paul Smith on the floor mat complete the interior details.

A collaboration that blends British heritage, bold creativity
and contemporary sophistication.
MINI and Sir Paul
Smith: two icons that are not only linked by their British heritage
but also look back on exclusive collaborations resulting in unique
styling. Their joint creative success story began in 1998, when the
designer created a limited edition of the classic Mini: a specially
created blue colour and matching anthracite-coloured alloy wheels lent
the iconic model the signature of Paul Smith.

To mark the 40th birthday of the classic MINI in 1999, the fashion
designer dipped an exclusive one-off in his characteristic stripe
design, using 86 stripes in 26 colours.

In 2021, the MINI STRIP celebrated its world premiere: a vehicle
designed using only what Paul Smith considered absolutely necessary.
The result was a customised one-off car that despite its minimalist
design and in keeping with Smith's guiding principle of ‘classic with
a twist’, was not without unexpected and loving details.

In 2022, Paul Smith went back to the roots of the collaboration with
the MINI Recharged by Paul Smith. A classic found its way into the
now: a Classic Mini from the 1998 MINI Paul Smith Edition was
transformed into a modernised electric vehicle. With a focus on
quality and functionality, a contemporary vehicle was created that can
also be seen as a tribute to the tradition and heritage of the classic MINI.

Paul Smith MINI Collection
But it is not only Sir Paul Smith who inspires MINI with
creative ideas - the inspiration also works in reverse: the designer
repeatedly uses MINI as a motif on exclusive pieces in his
collections. To celebrate the launch of the MINI Paul Smith Edition,
Paul Smith will release a capsule collection of bags inspired by
details from the latest MINI collaboration.

Munich. On 26 August 1959, the British Motor
Corporation unveiled the first Mini: no one could have guessed at the
time what an impact the innovative concept of brilliant British
engineer Alec Issigonis would have on the automotive world. Sixty-six
years after the launch of the now legendary Classic Mini, the MINI
brand looks back on decades of racing success, visionary innovation,
groundbreaking design – and unmistakable driving pleasure.

The MINI family combines tradition and modernity.

With the relaunch of the MINI family over the past two years, the
brand has once again aligned its pioneering design and historical
heritage with the future: with a new, charismatic generation of the
MINI Cooper and MINI Countryman, the world premiere of the MINI
Aceman, the first crossover model for the premium segment, and the
launch of the new MINI Convertible, MINI combines tradition and
innovation in the present.

The New John Cooper Works models illustrate MINI's racing expertise
and with a spectacular second place in its class at the 24-hour race
at the Nürburgring, MINI recently demonstrated how much motorsport is
in the brand's DNA.

On its 66th birthday, MINI can look back on a growing range of
electrified variants within the MINI family. MINI has shown, that
go-kart feeling is also possible with fully electric vehicles.

Woodcliff Lake, NJ – June 12, 2024 – A few months
after the launch of the new MINI Cooper 2 Door, the MINI Cooper 4-door
is now joining the new MINI family. The MINI Cooper 4-door is
characterized by the brand's signature driving fun, with more space,
and functionality. These attributes make the five-seater truly unique
in its segment, added with its unique design - a combination of
tradition and modern, purist styling - and innovative assistance systems.

With a length of 158.9 inches, a width of 68.66 inches and a height
of 57.63 inches, the body dimensions are almost identical to those of
its predecessor and underline the basic idea behind every MINI: To
maximize creative use of space with a minimal footprint.

In the case of the MINI Cooper 4-door, this means an interior that
offers enough space for five passengers. Compared to the new MINI
Cooper 2 Door, the wheelbase is 2.83 inches longer and the body 6.77
inches longer. All of which offers increased comfort and space. Short
overhangs, clean surfaces and expressive accents also give the new
MINI Cooper 4-door its unmistakable charisma. Inside, digital
innovations and an immersive user experience take the MINI DNA to a
new level.

The larger body version of the purist MINI Cooper also delivers the
brand's hallmark driving fun and agile handling. There is a choice of
two efficient petrol engines which, combined with the modern chassis
and precise steering, deliver the hallmark MINI go-kart feeling.

Globally, the three-cylinder petrol engine of the MINI Cooper C
4-door generates 115 kW/156 hp and 230 Nm (170 lb/ft) of torque. This
enables the vehicle to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h (62
mph) in 8.0 seconds and reach a top speed of 225 km/h (134 mph).
Additionally, the MINI Cooper S 4-door is powered by a four-cylinder
petrol engine with 150 kW/204 hp with a maximum torque of 300 Nm (221
lb/ft). It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.8 seconds and
has a top speed of 242 km/h (150 mph).

In the US market, the MINI Cooper S 4-door will come with a 201 SAE
hp 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine producing 221 lb-ft of torque, putting
power down through the front wheels via a 7-speed Dual Clutch
Transmission. The MINI Cooper C 4-door expected to arrive in the US
early next year will also receive a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with
US horsepower, torque, and efficiency figures to be available closer
to market launch.

Production of the new 2025 MINI Cooper S 4-door for the US market
begins July of 2024 with models expected to arrive at dealers early
September. The Cooper S 4-door will have a US base MSRP of $33,200
plus $995 Destination and Handling. For the 2025 MINI Cooper 4-door,
US market production of vehicles will begin November 2024 with first
models to arrive at dealers early January 2025. Pricing and product
details will be available closer to market launch.

The New MINI Design Style.

The new MINI Cooper 4-door is characterized by "Charismatic Simplicity".

The design language of the current MINI family presents the
traditional values of the brand with a simple and striking clarity.
The authentic design language of the new models combines advanced
technology with MINI’s principles of vehicle design and brand origins.

The exterior.

Short overhangs, a small bonnet, a long wheelbase, and large wheels -
the proportions of the MINI Cooper 4-door reflect its unique
character. Thanks to its compact silhouette, the model is easy and
comfortable to maneuver even in tight spaces, while still offering
plenty of room for all passengers. The new MINI Cooper 4-door is
instantly and authentically recognizable as a MINI, with three
elements that include a clearly designed body, a wraparound window
area and a stepped roof.

The minimalist design of the front end features the iconic MINI round
headlights. Together with the octagonal front grille, they form the
distinctive MINI face. Standard LED headlights with individually
adjustable daytime running light elements enhance the striking
appearance. The light signatures are available in three versions to
emphasize the character of the vehicle. The MINI Cooper interacts with
the driver using a specially orchestrated welcome and goodbye
animation before and after the journey.

Modern and simplified body design for a striking look.

The new MINI aesthetic continues at the rear with clear surfaces and
flush-fitting taillights. The vertically aligned LED clusters are
reminiscent of the classic MINI lights and, like the headlights, can
be switched to different animated settings.

The flush-mounted design and shape of the rear lights lends a modern
and purist look to the car’s rear sculpture. It is subdivided by a
striking black handle strip with distinctive model lettering. Its
horizontal alignment emphasizes the new MINI Cooper 4-door’s broad stance.

Unique appearance choices and individual equipment options.

The new MINI Cooper S 4-door is available in the US with 10 color
choices. For the roof, customers can choose from body color, black,
white or a blue multi-tone roof with a gradual color gradient based on
trims and styles chosen. The different color tones highlight different
features of the car and showcase the new MINI design language in a
variety of ways.

US customers can personalize their car with three different styling
packages – Classic, Favoured and JCW styles. Starting with the Classic
Style, the roof is available in body color, black or white. The
contrast with the body color gives the MINI Cooper a particularly
expressive look.

In the Favoured Style version, the front radiator grille frame and
certain design elements are finished in Vibrant Silver, further
enhancing the individuality of the MINI Cooper. A unique offering to
the Favoured Style, a blue Multitone roof is available with a color
gradient blending Glazed White with Indigo Sunset Blue and San Marino Blue.

The JCW Style emphasizes the sporty side of the MINI Cooper 4-door.
Exclusive design features include the JCW Aero Kit with striking front
and rear diffusers, high gloss black wheel spats, a set of gloss black
brake calipers with JCW logos, a unique radiator grille surround and
high-gloss black JCW logos. A JCW interior, and roof spoiler add to
the sporty appearance and allude to MINI's motorsport heritage.

The interior.

The interior of the new MINI Cooper 4-door also features the brand's
typical combination of new elements, technical innovations, and
references to the brand's history.

The new MINI Cooper 4-door combines charismatic MINI design with an
extra portion of functionality. In the rear, the noticeably wider
interior provides comfortable space for three passengers. The 60:40
folding rear seats increase the luggage compartment capacity from 9.71
cubic feet to up to 32.66 cubic feet.

Minimalist and immersive.

The design of the front end of the new MINI Cooper 4-door is reduced
to the essentials and is reminiscent of the purist design of the
classic Mini. Legendary inventor Alec Issigonis designed an interior
for the first model with a round instrument in the center and the
characteristic toggle bar with switches below. These two elements also
structure the cockpit in the MINI Cooper 4-door.

The minimalist design of the interior makes do with fewer components,
which are cleverly designed and manufactured to a high standard.
Behind the steering wheel, the standard head-up display ensures that
all relevant content appears in the driver's field of vision. As a
result, the dashboard on the driver’s side does not require an
additional instrument panel, so it opens the view to the front.

Innovative materials characterize the welcoming atmosphere in the
interior of the MINI Cooper. A specially developed knitting process is
used to create the striking design of two color textile surfaces made
of recycled polyester. The textile surfaces extend across the curved
dashboard and into the door panels. The air vents feature an
especially flat design. The horizontal arrangement of the air vents
ensures an even flow of air in the cockpit with easy adjustability.

The generous space in the front seats and the clean lines give the
cockpit a modern and airy look. Thanks to the panoramic glass roof,
the interior is particularly bright. Classic Style equipped vehicles
feature comfortable and supportive sport seats while the Favoured
Style and JCW Style equipped vehicles feature unique JCW Sport Seats
with higher side bolstering and integrated headrests. Three passengers
can sit comfortably in the rear.

High-resolution OLED display revolutionizes user experience.

Like the round instrument of the outgoing model, the iconic center
screen with its versatile functions is the visual focal point of the
interior. The industry first center mounted OLED display in the
redesigned cockpit is within easy reach of the driver with a high
resolution that sets a new standard. Thanks to the MINI Operating
System 9, all vehicle functions can be controlled intuitively by touch
or voice. The slim 9.4-inch diameter touch display has a high-quality
glass edge and features an operating logic similar to that of the
latest generation of smartphones.

The graphical presentation of content focuses on the essentials.
Vehicle-related information is displayed at the top. The lower part of
the OLED display provides direct access to navigation, media, phone
and climate control menus. The home button allows for easy returns the
display to the main screen.

The MINI Experience Modes.

The seven MINI Experience Modes including the new Personal Mode can
be selected according to personal preference and help to characterize
the atmosphere in the interior.

Using the MINI Projector on the rear of the OLED display, they
transform the dashboard into matching worlds of colors and patterns.
The interplay of projection, ambient lighting and the MINI Interaction
Unit creates a unique, immersive experience that extends into the door
trim. This opens new possibilities for individualization.

In Personal Mode, for example, a personalized image can be selected
as the display background via the MINI App. The dominant colors of the
picture are then applied to the dashboard's textile surfaces using a
digital color picker. The ambient lighting under the dashboard and in
the door mirror is also color-coded to match these projections.

Each mode has its own customized backgrounds. In Go-kart mode, for
example, the display and interior are dominated by the John Cooper
Works signature charcoal grey and red.

The new design of the MINI toggle bar.

Just like the iconic center console, the toggle bar with its switches
is as legendary as the MINI itself - and yet it has been carefully
updated time and again. In the latest version, the parking brake, gear
selector, start/stop button, Experience Mode, and volume control are
all at your fingertips. The practical benefit is the removal of the
gear selector has freed up more space in the center console, which now
features a large open storage compartment in addition to cup holders.
Smartphones can be charged in the wireless charging area at the front
of the console keeping them fully charged and ready to go.

Newly designed interior trims.

The new color and material concept for the MINI Cooper 4-door is
deliberately minimalist. High-quality, environmentally friendly
materials are used, such as the knitted recycled polyester surfaces on
the dashboard and door trim.

Classic , Favoured, and JCW Styles feature a three-spoke steering
wheel with a textile band at the six o'clock position. A 2D knitted
fabric in grey and black on the dashboard and doors contrasts with the
Vescin leather-free seats in Classic Style. For Favoured, a two-tone
houndstooth pattern on the knitted dashboard is particularly
expressive. The perforated Vescin sports seats are available in two
colors with traditional accent stitching. JCW Trim is a sporty
interpretation of the new material concept. Combined with
multi-colored knitted fabric and black imitation leather with red
stitching, the color scheme echoes that of the dashboard and door trims.

Digital services.

"Hey MINI" - the new MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant.

In the new MINI Cooper, numerous functions can be controlled using
the brand’s first fully integrated voice assistant. The MINI
Intelligent Personal Assistant can be activated with the greeting “Hey
MINI” or by using the push-to-talk steering wheel button.
Voice-controlled interaction takes place on the circular OLED display
in the form of an animation of graphic elements, typography, and an
avatar. Users can choose between the visualization of "MINI"
- a stylized representation of a MINI - and the virtual travel partner
"Spike". The driver can easily control navigation,
telephone, entertainment, and numerous vehicle functions by voice.

The MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant continuously learns from
repeated routes. Drawing on geo-based data, for example, the vehicle
can learn to automatically open the window when entering a car park.
This makes everyday life much more convenient.

The new MINI Operating System 9.

The MINI user interface combines functional and emotional elements.
The design is reduced, creating a very modern look based on new
graphics. Static and dynamic elements blend naturally into the
circular shape of the center MINI display, following a clear
structure. Micro animations reinforce the intuitive interaction
between the driver and the central instrument, thereby underlining the
digital character of the new MINI family.

The MINI Operating System 9 is an in-house development of the BMW
Group. Operation is intuitive and follows standards that are familiar
from the consumer electronics sector. The home menu is located in the
center of the screen. The status bar with the menu items Navigation,
Media, Telephone, All Apps and (depending on the situation) Home is
located at the bottom of the screen. Favorite functions such as
navigation destinations or radio stations can be stored in the tool
belt for quick access. The upper part of the screen is reserved for
driving-related content, such as speed and important vehicle status
information. The optional head-up display presents the most important
information in the driver’s line of sight.

In conjunction with the MINI Connected Package, the full MINI
Navigation Package supports the driver during the journey with
realistic 3D visualization of turn situations, a display of the
current traffic situation even when the route guidance system is not
activated, information on parking facilities including digital payment
options and much more.

New driver assistance systems make day-to-day life easier.

The new Parking Assistant Plus makes the parking process even easier.
Thanks to 12 ultrasonic sensors and four surround-view cameras, the
vehicle can identify possible parking spaces more clearly and can even
independently initiate space-restricted parking maneuvers.

With MINI Digital Key Plus, the smartphone becomes the key and opens
the car automatically. The welcome projection of the front and rear
lights begins as soon as the driver comes within 3 meters of the car;
the doors are unlocked when the driver is at less than one and a half
meters away from the car. The digital key is transferable to different
users, thereby facilitating car sharing making it is no longer
necessary to hand over a conventional vehicle key to the other person.

Comfortable and sporty mobility.

The track width and wheelbase are generous for this vehicle segment
and provide the basis for the hallmark MINI dynamic performance. The
MINI Cooper 4-door features a suspension and damping system tuned for
spirited handling. This ensures a high level of everyday driving
comfort, combined with the precise steering feel typical of MINI and
the powerful brakes.

Highly preloaded anti-roll bar mounts on the axles ensure balanced
body handling during dynamic cornering. They also ensure steering
precision and accuracy. The result is excellent body support combined
with smooth rolling comfort.

Hallmark MINI steering and powerful brakes ensure a high level of
driving fun, safety, and comfort. Compact dimensions, short overhangs,
and a small turning circle of 37.4 feet make the MINI Cooper 4-door a
versatile model for the city.

Selective tuning of the steering and all stability control systems
ensures an exceptional experience in all driving situations. An
adaptive suspension with frequency-selective damping system is
available for particularly sporty driving. The increased tire diameter
of 625 mm gives the MINI Cooper 4-door a greater visual presence. At
the same time, driving dynamics and ride comfort are improved. In
addition, the tire width of the optionally available 17-inch and
18-inch rims is increased to 8.46 inches in order to emphasize the
typical MINI go-kart feeling.

Hours of Nürburgring, one of the toughest endurance races in the
world, challenging drivers and teams to conquer the iconic
Nürburgring-Nordschleife over a grueling, day-long battle of speed,
skill, and reliability.

The new petrol-powered MINI John Cooper Works, cloaked in a bespoke
camouflage designed by the MINI Design Team, pays homage to the iconic
red and white color schemes used for classic Minis in motorsports in
the 1960s.

Works marks a significant milestone in MINI's commitment to innovation
and heritage. In a bold move, the new MINI John Cooper Works lineup,
developed to push the boundaries of speed and agility, will be
available in both petrol and all-electric versions.

Rallye Monte Carlo 60 years ago, the racecar features a distinctive
“37” logo, commemorating this milestone achievement. This emblem
serves as a homage to MINI’s rich motorsport tradition.

The New MINI John Cooper Works #317 will be entered by the private
racing team from Nürburg, Bulldog Racing, and will be competing in the
SP 3T category.

Dubbed “MINI John Cooper Works PRO”, the MINI Twin-Power Turbo
racecar represents the perfect fusion of MINI's iconic design and

The second entry will be the beloved black MINI John Cooper Works
#474 manual transmission, which showcased its prowess by securing a
podium finish at last year's 24 Hours of Nürburgring, proving its
mettle against fierce competition in the VT-2 category, cementing its
status as a formidable contender in endurance racing.

As anticipation builds for its debut, MINI fans and automotive
enthusiasts alike can expect an unforgettable showcase of the New MINI

Production of two new electrified models – MINI Cooper 3-door and MINI Aceman - will start in the UK in 2026.</pp:summary>

Oxford. BMW Group has announced today a new
investment of more than £600 million in the MINI factories at Oxford
and Swindon. “With this new investment we will develop the Oxford
plant for production of the new generation of electric MINIs and set
the path for purely electric car manufacturing in the future,” says
Milan Nedeljković, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG
responsible for production.

The Oxford plant is gearing-up to build two new all-electric
MINI models from 2026, the MINI Cooper 3-door and the compact
crossover MINI Aceman. By 2030 production volume will be exclusively
electric and the BMW Group will have spent over £3bn on its Swindon,
Hams Hall and Oxford plants since 2000.
This development has been
supported by the UK Government and will help to secure jobs at the
Oxford manufacturing plant and at the body-pressing facility in Swindon.

Business and Trade Secretary Kemi Badenoch says, “This decision
is a big vote of confidence in the UK economy and the work of this
Government to ensure the continued strength of our world-leading
automotive sector. We are proud to be able to support BMW Group’s
investment, which will secure high-quality jobs, strengthen our supply
chains and boost Britain’s economic growth.”

Oxford to remain the Home of MINI.
The Oxford plant celebrated its 110th anniversary this year and
has been successfully producing the current MINI Electric since 2019,
where it is fully integrated into the production line with the
conventional (ICE) models.

Stefanie Wurst, Head of the MINI brand, says, “MINI has always
been aware of its history – Oxford is and remains the heart of the
brand. I am delighted that the two new, fully electric MINI models –
the MINI Cooper and MINI Aceman – are also being produced in Oxford,
thereby confirming our path to a fully electric future. The continuing
high demand for our locally emission-free vehicles shows the openness
of the global MINI community to electromobility, which we will be able
to serve optimally, also thanks to Oxford”.

MINI accelerates toward full electrification with new model
line-up and enhanced production network.
The MINI
Plant Oxford currently produces the MINI 3-door, the MINI 5-door as
well as the MINI Clubman and the MINI Electric. From 2024 the plant
will start producing the next generation MINI 3-door and MINI 5-door
with combustion engines, as well as the new MINI Convertible, before
they are joined by the new all-electric vehicles in 2026 – the MINI
Cooper 3-door and the MINI Aceman.

The factory will reach a production capacity of around 200,000
cars per year in the medium term, with ICE and battery electric
vehicles initially being built on the same production line. From 2030,
the Oxford Plant will produce all-electric MINI models exclusively.

In a few weeks, production of the new MINI Countryman will begin
at the BMW Group plant Leipzig. This larger crossover model in the
MINI line-up, will be offered with both pure electric drive and
combustion engines.

Production of the next generation all-electric MINI Cooper
3-door and MINI Aceman will begin in China. The new manufacturing
plant in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu Province is based on a joint venture
with Great Wall Motor. Exports will begin in early 2024.

Munich. As a 3-door model in its fifth generation,
the all-electric MINI Cooper underscores the brand’s tradition with
its hallmark MINI design and stands for urban driving fun. The new
MINI Countryman has grown in external dimensions and offers its
passengers even more space, comfort, and safety – even beyond paved
roads thanks to all-wheel drive. The new MINI Cooper and the new MINI
Countryman are both fully electric, guaranteeing locally emission-free
driving and emphasising the exceptional position the MINI has in its
respective segment by combining distinctive design, advanced
drivetrain technology and an immersive digital experience.

Electrified go-kart feeling and an immersive user experience take the
MINI DNA to a new level. The new MINI models are characterised by a
modern and purist design that focuses on the essentials. The core of
the brand is also embodied in the fifth model generation of the MINI
Cooper 3-door – all-electric and consistently geared towards urban
driving fun. The new all-electric MINI Countryman has grown and
emphasises its suitability for setting out on adventures beyond the
city limits. In addition, the MINI Aceman will premiere in April 2024
as a crossover in the premium small car segment.

“The continued high demand for our locally emission-free vehicles
confirms our path to a fully electric future. It demonstrates the
openness of our global MINI community to electric mobility, and I am
confident that the new generation of MINI models will inspire even
more people. Thanks to our electrified go-kart feeling, an immersive
user experience and a responsible attitude, the new MINI family is
tailor made for urban target groups all around the world,” explains
Stefanie Wurst, head of the MINI brand.

Consistently advancing the all-electric model portfolio.
Since the relaunch of the brand at the turn of the millennium,
the MINI has not only developed into a premium vehicle, but it has
also reinvented itself time and again without neglecting its own
origins and tradition. This constant development and the ability to
regularly set new trends have established a large fan base for MINI
worldwide. On its way to becoming an all-electric brand, MINI is now
presenting two of its most important models.

The new vehicles enable locally emission-free mobility and allow MINI
drivers to adapt them to their different lifestyles and requirements.
The hallmark MINI creative use of space offers maximum flexibility as
well as enabling a high degree of variability in terms of interior
design. The user experience takes a noticeable technological leap with
the MINI Operating System 9, which has been optimised for touch and
voice control. The round OLED display, the MINI Interaction Unit, is
both an instrument cluster as well as the centre of experiences and
comfort. Textile surfaces revolutionise the aesthetic appeal of the
interior by reducing it to the essentials and adding a new level of
well-being and warmth.

The new MINI models interpret design features with impressive
clarity.
The new MINI family takes driving fun, the user
experience, and the responsible attitude of the brand into a new era,
a comprehensive transformation that is reflected in the new design
language “Charismatic Simplicity”. This combines the traditional MINI
values with progressive innovations in a particularly authentic way,
reducing the vehicle design to the essentials.
The new models of
the MINI family share a purist design that takes equal account of the
urban character of MINI and the innovative spirit of the MINI community.

Short overhangs, a short bonnet, a long wheelbase, and big wheels –
the proportions of the new model generation are typical MINI. The
visual three-part division into the vehicle body, the surrounding
window area and the contrasting roof also ensures the new MINI models
are instantly recognisable. The surfaces of the all-electric MINI
Cooper and the MINI Countryman look particularly exciting thanks to
the integrative treatment of details. Flush door handles, the absence
of fender flares and side scuttles underline the clear and modern
overall impression. The clearly defined shoulder area gives the new
MINI models a decidedly athletic vehicle body.

The vehicle's character, which is as agile as it is compact, is
reinforced by new daytime running light elements for the LED
headlights and the Matrix LED taillights with three different settings
on all new vehicle models. These individual light signatures each
support different aspects of the car body design and interact with the
environment by means of a special welcome and farewell light animation.

The all-electric MINI Cooper: the reinvention of the
original.
Going into its fifth model generation, the
MINI Cooper 3-door still embodies the core of the brand. As an
all-electric vehicle, the new MINI is available in the Cooper E
variant and as the Cooper SE, featuring higher output and range.
Within the new MINI family, “Cooper” refers to all MINI 3-door and
5-door models, and also the MINI Convertible. It is no longer used as
an engine specification. The classic round headlights and the striking
octagonal grille are the dominant features of the front section,
making the model the characteristic face of MINI.

The distinctively structured bonnet contributes to the intriguing
surface design. Black side sills visually move the all-electric MINI
Cooper closer to the road. Four different trims – Essential, Classic,
Favoured and JCW – serve the purpose of differentiation, each giving
the new MINI its own distinct character.

The 135 kW/184 hp electric motor in the MINI Cooper E generates a
torque of 290 Nm and accelerates the vehicle from standstill to 100
km/h in 7.3 seconds. With an output of 160 kW/218 hp, the MINI Cooper
SE sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds with a maximum torque of
330 Nm. The range determined in the WLTP test cycle is 305 kilometres
for the MINI Cooper E and 402 kilometres for the MINI Cooper SE. *

The interior: minimalist, digital, immersive & warm.
In the interior, the design of the front section harks back to
the elegantly minimalist design of the classic Mini with a slim and
generous dashboard and a multifunction steering wheel for hallmark
MINI go-kart feeling. The central OLED display, the MINI Interaction
Unit, sets a new standard with its high resolution and contributes to
the heightened presence of the circular instrument, which has a
diameter of 240 millimetres.

The new MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant can be activated by
saying the words “Hey MINI”. Being able to control numerous functions
with voice control increases comfort, facilitating greater
concentration on driving. The newly designed reduced toggle bar with
five switches includes all driving functions and is ideally positioned
for the driver below the circular instrument. The gearshift has been
eliminated to create additional storage space between the front seats.
In the wireless charging area in this storage space, mobile devices
can be charged and conveniently accessed at any time.

The new interior experience is mainly created by the textile
surfaces. A specially developed knitting process is used to create the
easy-care, versatile structure of the two-colour textile. Optionally,
up to seven MINI Experience Modes bring the dashboard to life. Special
light projections extend the colours of the round instrument across
the dashboard, expanding the overall experience of the user interface
in the interior. The new cockpit customisation options add a personal
feel-good factor to the interior of the new MINI Cooper.

All trims of the all-electric MINI Cooper feature seats in
high-quality Vescin artificial leather, while all textiles and yarns
for the seat, knitted surfaces, vehicle headliner and floor are made
from recycled materials.

The new MINI Countryman: all-electric and
adventurous.
Higher, longer, MINI – with an additional
six centimetres in height and thirteen centimetres in length, the new
MINI Countryman has grown noticeably compared to its predecessor,
offering even more space and comfort. Wider wheel arches and a clear,
modern design enhance the crossover aesthetic appeal of the rugged
MINI adventurer. The elegant design of the C-pillar differs according
to the vehicle trim and is based on one of the vehicle’s four roof
colours. The upright shape of the new Matrix taillights frame the rear
of the vehicle. Below the model lettering, the body tapers across the
entire width and, together with the striking, all-round vehicle band
in black, emphasises the enhanced presence of the new MINI Countryman.

The 150 kW/204 hp electric motor in the MINI Countryman E generates a
torque of 250 Nm and accelerates the car from standstill to 100 km/h
in 8.6 seconds. With 230 kW/313 hp, the electric motors of the
all-wheel drive MINI Countryman SE ALL4 generate a combined torque of
494 Nm in total and accelerate the vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6
seconds. The range determined according to the WLTP test cycle is 462
kilometres for the MINI Countryman E and 433 kilometres for the MINI
Countryman SE ALL4. *

The interior: individual, multifunctional and full of
high-level comfort.
In the interior, the versatile new MINI Countryman is the
largest and most spacious MINI model available thanks to its high
degree of adaptability. The clearly designed dashboard and the door
panels are covered with woven textile surfaces. Their design is
coordinated with eight different MINI Experience Modes: these maximise
the options for individualising the interior by means of light
projections, a customisable user interface and new engine sounds.
The MINI Operating System 9, which has been optimised for touch
and voice control, together with the central OLED display with a
diameter of 240 millimetres and many new, digital additional functions
in the MINI Connected Package, noticeably raises the level of hallmark
MINI driving fun in the cockpit of the new MINI Countryman. This also
becomes apparent in the newly designed multifunction steering wheel
with two-spoke design and optional textile strap instead of the
classic lower spoke. Compared to the MINI Cooper, the air outlets in
the cockpit are arranged vertically and, together with the upright
dashboard, emphasise the character of the new MINI Countryman.

As in the exterior, the vertically mounted door handles in the
interior are integrated flush with the surfaces. In combination with
the tinted panoramic glass roof and the clear, reduced shapes of the
front seats and rear seat, the ambience in the new MINI Countryman is
particularly bright and spacious. The increased body size provides
additional headroom and legroom, expanding the space options in the
compact premium Crossover. The four available trims – Essential,
Classic, Favoured and JCW – offer different design and equipment
levels and give the new MINI Countryman a distinctive character.

Munich. The purist design and the all-electric
drivetrain of the new MINI Cooper are consistently geared towards
urban driving fun, highlighting the exceptional status of the MINI
within its vehicle segment. There is virtually no other vehicle model
in the world that has succeeded in accentuating its own history and
tradition based on evolutionary advancements while at the same time
repeatedly setting new technical standards over a period of more than
60 years of construction. What has remained is the underlying notion
of a vehicle that offers the greatest possible space utilisation for
passengers despite compact external dimensions. New features include
the world of digital experiences, modern assistance systems and a
purely electric powertrain that guarantees locally emission-free
mobility. As such, the fifth generation is a typical MINI while at the
same time symbolising the brand’s
all-electric future.

“With its electric drive and purist design, the new MINI Cooper is a
perfect fit for an urban lifestyle. In the fifth generation of the
MINI Cooper, we combine the traditional MINI DNA with innovative,
future-oriented technology while enabling locally emission-free
driving fun that is typical of MINI,” says Stefanie Wurst, Head of MINI.

Charismatic Simplicity: the new MINI design
style.
The design of the new MINI model generation is
modern, digital and unmistakable. With the new MINI family, the brand
takes driving fun, the user experience and a responsible attitude
forward into a new era. This comprehensive transformation on the way
to becoming an all-electric brand by 2030 is reflected in the
authentic design of the new models, combining forward-looking
technology with the elementary principles of body design and the
brand’s origins. In doing so, it emphasises the urban character of the
MINI along with the sheer joy of innovation.

“Inspired by our history, we have developed our own new design
language, defining our DNA. We call it ‘Charismatic Simplicity’. The
idea behind it is a design that gives each new MINI model a strong,
individual character and is characterized by a clear, reduced design
language intuitively focused on the essentials of the brand.” says
Oliver Heilmer, Head of MINI Design.

The exterior: maximum reduction to the
essentials.
In the new model generation once again, the
MINI 3-door embodies the core of the brand. With its fully electric
drivetrain, the new MINI Cooper is consistently geared towards urban
driving fun, transporting the character of the iconic model into the
brand’s purely electric future.

The agile and compact silhouette features hallmark MINI proportions:
short overhangs, a short bonnet and the contrasting long
wheelbase with large wheels give the fifth model generation of the
MINI Cooper a fascinating charisma with classic design features. At
the same time, this emphasises the athletic impression and underlines
the model’s contemporary urban orientation.

Details such as the flush door handles and the absence of fender
flares and classic side scuttles support the modern design of the
exterior by giving the surfaces a striking clarity. This reduction to
the essentials places even more emphasis on the body paint finish on
the larger body surface. In this way, typical MINI design features
such as the visual three-part division of the vehicle body, the
all-round window area and the contrasting roof have a greater impact,
helping the new design style to take effect.

Striking face with fresh radiance: MINI LED-lights with
Signature Modes.
In the new model generation, the
front end of the all-electric MINI Cooper is once again characterised
by the iconic MINI circular headlights and the striking grille. These
go together to create the hallmark MINI appearance.
The new
octagonal front grille with its filigree contour defines the front
section even more powerfully than its hexagonal predecessor. Instead
of chrome, the new accent colour Vibrant Silver adds highlights to the
exterior, giving the new MINI Cooper an even more expressive appearance.

The daytime running light elements of theLED-lights support this
striking look with fresh radiance due to unique light signatures.
Horizontal light graphics are part of the Essential Trim. Optionally,
the daytime running light elements can be switched to create three
adjustable light signatures, thereby emphasising the distinctive
character of each vehicle. In addition, all light modes start and end
with a specially orchestrated welcome and goodbye animation. This
interaction with the MINI Cooper heightens the sense of anticipation
for the MINI even before you set off.

Reduced details for a powerful presence and increased dynamic performance.
As with the body design as a whole, the front headlights are not
framed with chrome elements anymore. This results in the front section
having a focused expression. Together with the fascinating curves of
the bonnet and the clear-cut design of the front apron, the new MINI
3-door has a distinct and sporty look. This impression is supported by
the vehicle’s track width and the dynamic indentation at the wheel arches.

The side view of the new MINI Cooper also conveys greater reduction
and clarity. For the first time, the model appears without a
circumferential Black Band. Reducing the number of components places
the body colour more at the centre of interest, thereby ensuring a
powerful presence. Black sills visually move the MINI Cooper closer to
the road. The vehicle combines a modern take on the hallmark MINI
design with outstanding aerodynamic properties. The cd figure of 0.28
is outstanding for the small car segment and makes the
MINI
extremely efficient.

The new MINI aesthetic also gives the rear section a new,
contemporary feel, featuring clear surfaces and flush rear lights. The
vertical light clusters quote the classic MINI lights and can be
switched to different modes in the same way as the front headlights.
The third brake light and rear fog light are integrated flush into the
rear design, emphasising the high quality of the sculptured modern
rear section. A defined shoulder section gives the MINI Cooper a
particularly powerful look. A striking black handle strip divides the
rear section, its horizontal orientation highlighting the vehicle’s
broad stance and the sporty flair that this conveys.

Four individual trims for even more
character.
The all-electric MINI Cooper is available in
four different trims. The Essential Trim presents maximum clarity and
a reduced overall appearance, highlighting certain functional parts
such as the logo in the new colour Vibrant Silver. The new range of
external paint finishes underlines the modernity of the new MINI icon
and sets positive accentuations with bright tones such as Sunny Side Yellow.

While the Classic Trim primarily applies to the interior, the
Favoured Trim features particularly expressive details on the
exterior. This trim variant offers the new, optional Spray-Tech design
of the characteristic Multitone Roof with a combination of three
different colours as well as a front grille in Vibrant Silver.

The John Cooper Works Trim lends maximum emphasis to the sporty flair
of the all-electric MINI Cooper with a distinctive front and rear
design. The frame of the front grille and the logo in high-gloss black
underline the powerful overall look, while a contrasting roof in Chili
Red – inspired by motor sport – and JCW-specific bonnet stripes in red
or black optionally lend visual emphasis to the driving dynamics
typical of MINI.

The interior: minimalist, digital, immersive &
warm.
On the inside, the design of the front area echoes
the famous minimalist design of the classic Mini. For the first model
in 1959, Mini inventor Alec Issigonis designed an interior with a
round instrument cluster in the centre and the characteristic toggle
bar below. In the new MINI Cooper, it is precisely these two elements,
in combination with the steering wheel, that structure the interior
with its maximum purist design. Reducing everything to the essentials,
the new interior makes do with a smaller number of components that are
cleverly designed and implemented to a high standard. Behind the
steering wheel, the optional head-up display ensures that all the
relevant content appears in the driver’s field of vision. As a result,
the dashboard on the driver’s side does not require an additional
display, so it opens up the view to the front.

The amply sized, curved dashboard features textile surfaces for the
first time. Warm, pleasant materials characterise the new, homely
feel-good atmosphere in the interior of the MINI Cooper. A specially
developed knitting process is used to create the versatile, easy-care
structure of the textile in two-colour design made of recycled
polyester. There is a choice of different colours for the textile
surfaces and seats depending on the trim design. To make the dashboard
as slim and spacious as possible, the air vents are very flat.

The clear lines and generous space in the front seats give the
interior a modern, airy feel, while the optional panoramic glass roof
makes the interior particularly bright and friendly. In the dark, the
side lighting is based on the ambient light, thereby contributing to a
distinctive interior atmosphere. The seats are available in a basic
version and in a JCW version, with side panels that are laminated with
high-quality textile covering the adjustment buttons. The armrest,
mounted on the driver’s seat, provides even more space in the centre
console. The rear of the vehicle offers maximum reduction and comfort,
while the loading accessories can be conveniently stowed in an
additional underfloor storage facility in the luggage compartment. By
folding down the rear seat in a 60:40 ratio, the luggage compartment
can be flexibly expanded from 200 litres to provide a volume of up to
800 litres.

MINI Interaction Unit: High-Res OLED display revolutionises
the user experience.
The central OLED display sets a
new benchmark with its high resolution. Like the round instrument in
the predecessor model, the new centre icon is the defining feature of
the interior with its versatile functions. As an instrument cluster,
the MINI Interaction Unit is a centre of both experience and comfort.
Thanks to MINI Operating System 9, all vehicle functions can be
operated intuitively with touch or voice control. The display in the
redesigned cockpit has been moved closer to the driver so it is
particularly convenient to reach. The diameter of the thin touch
display with a high-quality glass edge has grown to 240 mm. Its
operating logic is reminiscent of the standards familiar from smartphones.

The graphic presentation of the content is modern and focuses on the
essentials. The upper area contains relevant vehicle-related
information such as speed and battery status. When the speed indicator
is pressed, a large, striking display with full-screen speedometer
appears that puts a clear focus on driving. In the Home menu, the
other widgets are displayed in thumbnail view to the left and right of
the current menu function. They can be brought up and selected by
swiping horizontally to the centre. In the lower area of the OLED
display, the menu items Navigation, Media, Phone and Climate can be
selected directly at any time. All other functions can be accessed via
the menu in the same way as on a smartphone. The display returns to
the default setting via the home button.

A whole new MINI experience: the new MINI Experience Modes.
The MINI Experience Modes, Core, Green and Go-Kart, each with
their specific user interface design, are available as standard, with
up to four additional modes available with the MINI Experience Modes
optional equipment. The optional MINI projector on the back of the
OLED display immerses the dashboard in matching colour schemes and
patterns. The interplay of projection, ambient lighting and the MINI
Interaction Unit results in a unique, immersive experience that
extends into the door panels.

This immersive user experience makes the interior even more
expressive based on new solutions, thereby giving rise to entirely new
individualisation options in the new MINI Cooper. In Personal Mode,
for example, an individually selected image can be set as the display
background via the MINI App. The dominant colours of the image then
extend across the textile dashboard surfaces by means of a digital
colour picker. The ambient lighting under the dashboard and in the
door mirror is also colour-coded to match these projections.

Each mode has specially designed backgrounds that convey a vibrant
and high-quality effect by means of subtle movements while remaining
as distraction-free as possible. When one of the seven modes is
selected, the display focuses on a relevant “Mode App”. In Go-Kart
Mode there is a highly dynamic focus on MINI’s racing DNA, for
example. The display and the interior as a whole feature the colours
anthracite and red, while specific analogue displays for driving
dynamics complement this MINI Experience Mode inspired by John Cooper
Works. Vivid Mode draws on the colours of the album cover for the
ambient lighting. Core Mode, Green Mode, Timeless Mode, Balance Mode
and Personal Mode are also available for selection according to mood
and personal needs.

Simply typical MINI: the redesigned toggle
bar.
Underneath the dashboard, the design of the new
MINI Cooper is particularly clean in appearance. One of the key
factors here is the newly designed toggle bar. Here, the most
important driving functions (parking brake, gear selector, start/stop
key, experience mode toggle, volume control) are directly accessible.
Its design is individua in accordance with its function.

The direct selection options on the toggle bar eliminate the need for
a gearshift, so the new MINI Cooper offers more storage space in the
centre console. In addition to the enlarged cup holders, there is also
a large open storage compartment. The storage box with a knitted
surface and a textile strap comes as standard with the Favoured Trim.
Smartphones can be charged in the wireless charging area at the front
of the console and are easier to find thanks to the central storage area.

Four newly designed trims for an individual
look.
In line with the consistent reduction in the
interior, the new contemporary colour and material concept is
deliberately minimalist, too. Only newly developed, high-quality and
environment-friendly materials are used. The dashboard and door panels
with knitted surfaces made of recycled polyester create a pleasant
atmosphere while at the same time setting specific accentuations with
their two-tone design. Four newly designed trims convey differing
versions of the modern feel-good concept in the interior. From Classic
Trim onwards, the two-spoke basic steering wheel is replaced as a
three-spoke version with a new textile strap in the six o'clock spoke.

The Essential Trim features an interior of maximum clarity and
reduction. Black sports seats with distinctly patterned multitone
textile harmonise with a coloured textile band on the dashboard.
Certain functional parts on the inside and outside are highlighted
with the new accent colour Vibrant Silver. On the exterior, for
example, the logo appears in the new colour, contrasting sharply with
the black, octagonal front grille.

In the Classic Trim, MINI uses a modern 2D knitted textile in the
interior of a production vehicle for the first time. On the dashboard
and door handles, two-tone black knitted textile provides a
fascinating contrast to the high-quality synthetic leather seat. It is
available in grey and black featuring a perforated houndstooth
pattern, while the side contrasts in blue textile.

The modern, high-quality Favoured Trim is the most expressive option,
featuring a two-tone houndstooth pattern on the knitted-textile
instrument panel. Available in two colours and with traditional accent
stitching, the perforated Vescin sports seats complement this
extravagant interior in dark and light. The exterior with the front
grille in Vibrant Silver can be combined in a particularly apt way
with the all-new Spray-Tech roof which features a blending of three
different colours.

The JCW Trim offers the sportiest interpretation of the new material
concept. Combined with multi-coloured knitted textile and black
synthetic leather with red stitching, the JCW seat with sports seat
geometry echoes the colour concept of the dashboard and door trim. A
distinct front and rear design likewise highlights the racing DNA of
the trim in the exterior, with the vehicle grille and logo in
high-gloss black underlining the powerful overall impression. Optional
features include a contrasting Chili Red roof and JCW-specific red or
black bonnet stripes.

“Hey MINI!”: the first MINI Intelligent Personal
Assistant.
In the new MINI Cooper, numerous functions
can be controlled using the brand’s first ever fully-fledged voice
assistant. The MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant can be activated
with the greeting “Hey MINI” or by using the push-to-talk steering
wheel button. Voice-controlled interaction takes place on the round
OLED display in the form of an animation of graphic elements,
typography and an avatar. For the visualisation, users have the option
to choose between “MINI” – a stylised representation of a MINI – or
optionally "Spike" already familiar to many MINI fans.
Communication with this virtual travel companion is particularly
true-to-life thanks to improved voice recognition. In order to ensure
smoother communication, oral utterances are transmitted instantly and
visualised on the display. In this way, the driver can control
navigation, telephony, entertainment and numerous other vehicle
functions by acclamation.

During the dialogue between customer and vehicle, the MINI
Intelligent Personal Assistant continuously learns on repetitive
routes. Drawing on geo-based data, for example, the vehicle can learn
to automatically open the window when entering a car park. This makes
day-to-day routines more convenient and personal.

MINI connects: the new MINI Operating System 9.
The new “Charismatic Simplicity” design language is also
reflected in the aesthetic of the user interface, which brings
together functional and emotional elements. The reduced design uses
all-new graphics to create an extremely modern look. Static and
dynamic elements blend naturally into the circular form of the OLED
display, following a clear structure. Micro-animations enhance the
already extremely intuitive interaction between the driver and central
instrument and underscore the digital character of the new MINI family.

MINI Operating System 9 is an in-house development by the BMW Group
and is based on an Android Open Source Project (AOSP) software stack.
Operation is intuitive and follows the standards familiar from
consumer electronics.

At the centre of the screen is the start menu, where personalised
content can be selected and launched by swiping to the side. In the
lower section of the screen is the fixed status bar containing the
menu items “Navigation”, “Media”, “Telephony”, “All Apps” and,
depending on the situation, “Home”, which can be selected directly.
Swiping up from the lower edge of the screen reveals a tool belt, a
process customers will be familiar with from many consumer electronics
devices. Favourite functions can be stored here and called up again
rapidly, i. e. navigation destinations and radio stations. The tool
belt can also be activated via the star button on the multifunction
steering wheel. The upper screen area is reserved for driving-relevant
content such as the vehicle speed and important information on the
vehicle status. The optional Head-up display shows the most important
information for the driver in their field of view.

The temperature for the driver and front passenger is permanently
displayed on the left- and right-hand edge of the screen. The climate
control settings are integrated into the MINI Interaction Unit and can
always be adjusted on the top layer by touch or voice command.

Depending on the Experience Mode selected, a single tap on the speed
display transforms the entire MINI Interaction Unit into a
MINI-typical speedometer.

“The new MINI Operating System 9 is characterised by simple,
emotional touch operation that is specific to MINI. Together with the
new cloud-based MINI Navigation for particularly precise and fast
route calculation, high-speed connectivity and optional 5G capability,
the new MINI Cooper takes a giant leap into the digital world, thereby
underlining the brand’s charismatic heritage,” says Stefanie Wurst,
Head of MINI.

When driving, the complete MINI Navigation Package in conjunction
with the optional MINI Connected Package provides support in the form
of realistic 3D visualisations in complicated turning situations,
display of the current traffic situation even without activated route
guidance, information on parking options including digital payment
options and much more. In addition, an optional augmented reality
function is available for the visualisation of turn-by-turn
directions. A charge-optimised route can be calculated for the
all-electric MINI Cooper immediately after entering the destination.

In addition, MINI Connected Upgrades allow flexible bookings of
additional vehicle functions – simply digital. In conjunction with the
optionally available MINI Connected Package, the MINI Connected Store
provides access to a constantly evolving variety of practical and
entertaining apps, including gaming, music and video streaming. The
new AirConsole app provides a unique form of in-car gaming for all
passengers, making the smartphone the controller of the game on the
OLED display.

New driver assistance systems make day-to-day life easier.
In addition to the automatic parking functions offered by the
Parking Assistant, the new optional Parking Assistant Plus makes the
parking process even easier. Thanks to 12 ultrasonic sensors and four
surround-view cameras, the vehicle can identify possible parking
spaces more clearly and can even independently initiate
space-restricted parking manoeuvres. In addition, a manual parking
process can be transferred to Parking Assistant Plus at any time.
Explore Mode offers a uniquely convenient solution for this vehicle
segment, enabling the new MINI Cooper to be parked simply using a
smartphone if the space at the side is too limited for entry.

The innovative MINI Digital Key Plus option also uses the smartphone
to ensure a convenient and personalised vehicle experience. Here the
smartphone turns into a key, enabling automatic opening of the
vehicle. The welcome projection of the front and rear lights begins as
soon as the driver is within three metres of the car; the doors are
unlocked when the driver is less than one and a half metres. The
digital key can be transferred to different users and replaces the
handover of the classic vehicle key for easier car sharing.

The MINI App also offers other functions that increase user safety.
With the Remote 360 option, for example, the surroundings of the
parked vehicle can be viewed in the MINI App. A camera in the inside
provides a view of the interior. Furthermore, the Snapshot function
offers the opportunity to capture shared moments in a photograph and
to upload them via WiFi-Direct to the smartphone.

Enhanced go-kart feeling thanks to electrified drivetrain
technology.
The new MINI Cooper combines locally
emission-free mobility and all-electric driving fun. With a completely
new powertrain, the vehicle is available in the Cooper E variant, and
with a higher output and range also as the Cooper SE.

The 135 kW/184 hp electric motor of the MINI Cooper E generates a
torque of 290 Nm, accelerating the vehicle from standstill to 100 km/h
in 7.3 seconds. With an output of 160 kW/218 hp, the MINI Cooper SE
sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds with a maximum torque of 330
Nm. The range determined according to the WLTP test cycle is up to 305
kilometres for the MINI Cooper E based on the high-voltage battery
with 40.7 kWh of capacity. In the MINI Cooper SE, the calculated range
increases to a maximum of 402 kilometres due to a battery capacity of
54.2 kWh. *

Excellent driving dynamics for comfortable and sporty mobility.
A slightly increased track width and wheelbase provide the basis
for excellent driving dynamics. The vehicle is fitted with a
suspension and damping system that is tuned for spirited handling.
Combined with the precise steering feel typical of MINI, powerful
brakes and a low centre of gravity thanks to the high-voltage battery
installed in the floor, the new MINI Cooper enhances day-to-day convenience.

With highly preloaded stabiliser mounts on the axles, the driver
experiences a significantly improved body response during dynamic
cornering as well as a valuable gain in steering precision and
accuracy. The result is excellent body support combined with smooth
rolling comfort. The MINI Cooper is also equipped with a strut brace
for an even sportier driving experience.

With its tyre diameter increased to 635 mm, the MINI Cooper has a
more powerful visual presence, while at the same time offering
improved driving dynamic performance and comfort. In addition, the
tyre width of the optionally available 17-inch and 18-inch rims is
increased by 10/20 mm to 205/225 mm to emphasise the typical MINI
go-kart feeling. Available rim sizes range from 16- to 18-inch.

The precise set-up of steering and all driving stability control
systems, to ensure both comfortable and sporty driving, guarantees an
exceptional experience in all driving situations.

New MINI Experience Modes for individually tailored driving fun.
The various MINI Experience Modes can be activated with a flick
of the toggle switch “Experiences”. GO-KART mode emphasises the racing
DNA of the MINI Cooper in a particularly emotional way by adjusting
the agility and stability of the chassis set-up, for example. In this
mode, the projector behind the central OLED display also bathes the
cockpit in the John Cooper Works-inspired shades of anthracite and
red. Meanwhile, further individual setting options enable
configuration of the steering response and the intervention limits of
the traction control to ensure even more intense driving fun.

By contrast, Green Mode optimises the efficiency of the drivetrain,
orienting the electric motor towards maximum range based on various
parameters. Improved recuperation management in the new MINI Cooper is
one of the contributing factors here: this feeds excess energy to the
battery when braking or coasting, thereby increasing the vehicle’s
range. Visualisations enable the driving conditions and their
influence on the vehicle’s range to be more readily understood. The
driving conditions and their influence on the range can be more easily
understood through visualizations. Tips for efficient driving and a
power meter increase the motivation for economical driving in a fun
way. For example, the driver can specifically understand the effect of
their behaviour through gaining “bonus range”.

These immersive driving experiences are enhanced by completely new
acoustic worlds created by the digital MINI Sounds. The repertoire
includes entirely new driving sounds in the interior, an unmistakable
MINI brand sound as a mark of identification, jingles for the new MINI
Experience Modes, and 30 new sound signals for information and warning
functions. This creates a distinctive recognition feature that is
typical of MINI on the acoustic level, too.

Simplified and efficient battery charging.
The
battery of the MINI Cooper can be charged via alternating current with
11 kW. Fast charging with direct current is possible in the MINI
Cooper E with 75 kW and in the Cooper SE with up to 95 kW. At a fast
charging station, this allows the battery to be charged from 10 per
cent to 80 per cent in just under 30 minutes. Depending on the weather
conditions, active navigation via MINI Navigation ensures the
high-voltage battery reaches the ideal temperature for efficient
charging in advance. This can significantly reduce charging time,
especially in cold outdoor temperatures.

For a transparent and simple charging process, the customer can
optimize the charging of the vehicle battery through
easy-to-understand settings. The start time for charging can be
selected or a specific time window for charging can be set, for
example. A certain target level for battery capacity can be determined
in advance, too. For a particularly pleasant start, charging can be
set to be completed by a selected departure time, and the vehicle
interior can be air-conditioned to the desired temperature by this time.

The MINI App provides a convenient overview of the charging process,
even if the customer is not near the vehicle. This provides details of
the current battery status, a charging-optimised route plan, and
charging history – including all costs and savings.

Nürburg. A completely new MINI John Cooper Works with
a 6-speed manual transmission will complement Bulldog Racing's
line-up, competing with Start Number #126 in the VT2-FWD class at this
year's 24-hour race at the Nürburgring.

In addition to that, the crowd favorite red MINI John Cooper Works
#112 from last years’ 50th anniversary 24-hour race at the Nürburgring
was continuously developed during the winter break in Nürburg and will
again start in the SP3T class.

"On our path to becoming an all-electric brand, we are working
very intensively on concepts for John Cooper Works models with an
electrified drivetrain. We are delighted that two MINI John Cooper
Works race cars from Bulldog Racing are flying the flag for us in this
24-hour race at the Nürburgring” says Stefanie Wurst, Head of the MINI Brand.

Charlie Cooper (GBR), whose grandfather John Cooper invented the Mini
Cooper in 1961, will be making his 24-hour race debut after having
already completed two NLS races in 2023. Prior to that, the Englishman
had successfully qualified for his DMSB Permit Nordschleife. The rest

Munich. The unusual design of the MINI roofs has
always been a special feature of the British premium models, which
customers have used to emphasise their own individual style. From the
colourful 26-colour striped version of the MINI Paul Smith to the
British Union Jack and the elegant colour gradient of the Multitone
Roof, the roof has always been the perfect canvas for individual and
expressive design throughout the history of MINI. The new MINI
Multitone Edition celebrates the diverse MINI community and adds
exclusive exterior and interior details to the expressive design. The
colour variations of the new special edition allow MINI fans to
express their own personality and be part of the progressive MINI journey.

With the Multitone Roof, the MINI Cooper SE (power consumption
combined: 17.6 - 15.3 kWh/100 km according to WLTP,
16.9 - 14.9 kWh/100 km according to NEDC) pioneered this innovative
form of roof design. The MINI Multitone Edition is available for the
MINI 3 door and MINI 5 door in the premium small car segment as well
as for the MINI Clubman, which is successful in the premium compact
car segment.

The new colour gradient of the MINI Multitone Edition extends from
the windscreen frame to the rear across the entire roof. From the
light Aspen White in the front section of the roof, the colour scheme
transitions elegantly to the more subdued grey shade of Melting Silver
II, then changes to Jet Black in the rear section. The unique
aesthetic appeal created by this colour gradient is complemented in
the MINI Multitone Edition by an abstract, white rainbow on the roof,
which is also featured throughout the design of the special edition.
The high-contrast colour gradient on the roof is unique in the
competitive environment. It emphasises the characteristic three-part
MINI silhouette and becomes an expression of personal style. The
special look is made possible by the innovative wet-on-wet painting
process used by the British MINI plant in Oxford. With this Spray Tech
paint finish, the three colour shades are applied directly one after
the other. Due to changing environmental conditions, deviations in the
colour pattern may occur, making each MINI Multitone Edition vehicle unique.

The MINI Multitone Edition conveys a friendly, positive attitude to
life and picks up on the many different "facets of life" in
terms of colour. Both the MINI 3 door and the MINI 5 door are
available with Sage Green paintwork, while the MINI Clubman is offered
exclusively in Indian Summer Red finish. The graphic rainbow of the
special edition stands for diversity as well as a positive attitude
and is depicted as an abstract white logo on the two complementary
colours red (Indian Summer) and green (Sage).

In this way, the central design feature of the MINI Multitone Edition
features on the iconic side scuttles on the exterior as well as the
C-pillar with a PU sticker. In addition, the wheels have exclusive
wheel caps in a two-tone colour scheme. Depending on the vehicle
model, 17-inch light alloy wheels in the Scissor Spoke 2-Tone design
or 18-inch light alloy wheels in the Pulse Spoke 2-Tone or Multiray
Spoke design complete the positive aura of the special edition.

The name-giving "Multitone" lettering, together with the
rainbow on friendly complementary colours, characterises the design of
the door sill trims and reappears as a badge on the driver's and front
passenger's floor mats. The abstract rainbow sweeps across the
dashboard and adorns the sun visors. The multifunctional sports
leather steering wheel with Edition emblem on the lower spoke is a
pleasure to hold, as is the customised key cap of the MINI Multitone Edition.

MINI Convertibles. The modern interpretation of the brand’s most
iconic models, the new MINI Hardtops and Convertibles receive
significant updates to the exterior, interior and infotainment and
driving safety features while remaining authentic to the elements of
the MINI DNA, including fun to drive, expressive design and personalization.

These new Hardtop and Convertible models will start production in
March 2021 and will include the MINI Hardtop 2 Door (Cooper, Cooper S,
Cooper SE and John Cooper Works), the MINI Hardtop 4 Door (Cooper and
Cooper S) and the MINI Convertible (Cooper, Cooper S and John Cooper
Works) variants.

Exterior Design Highlights.

The new MINI Hardtops and Convertibles come with an array of
brand-new exterior content that will excite both loyal MINI
enthusiasts and new customers interested in getting behind the wheel
of the definitive, premium small car in the U.S.

At the front end, the new MINI Hardtops and Convertibles feature the
integration of air curtains on the front bumper and removal of the fog
lights to further enhance the clarity of the front end and provide
improved aerodynamics. The front end now also features a new single
unbroken hexagon front grille that extends low to the road with the
safety bar now hidden underneath a body color panel, further
accentuating the look of the iconic and recognizable face of the MINI.
To meet the need for increased air cooling, the Cooper S and John
Cooper Works variants also include a pair of air intakes with
high-gloss black surrounds to the left and right of the central intake.

The new rear bumpers also feature visual changes that give the MINI a
widened geometry to emphasize a wider stance and sportiness. The rear
apron also picks up the hexagonal graphic from the front end, while
the iconic twin-tailpipe exhaust system is framed to sophisticated
effect in one sweeping movement by body-colored surfaces. The MINI
John Cooper Works also now features an eye-catching diffuser to
provide the tail of the car with dynamic racing intent.

The MINI Hardtops and Convertibles also feature new side scuttle
designs and wheel arch trims also help emphasis the sportiness of the
vehicle. The existing wheel portfolio is also enriched to include new
17” and 18” wheels, including the new 18” Circuit Spoke 2-tone and the
new 18” Pulse Spoke 2-tone.

Rooftop Grey and Zesty Yellow, the new MINI Hardtops are available
with a Multitone Roof, a color gradient of Soul Blue, Pearly Aqua, and
Jet Black in combination with black mirror caps. This is a unique
feature in the automotive industry thanks to a new, innovative
painting technology at Plant Oxford.

The new MINI Hardtops and Convertibles also come standard with LED
headlights with a high global back inner housing. Along the side, the
new models have a modernized side scuttle design including LED
indicators and model specific inserts. Standard LED Headlights are
coupled together with our unique Union Jack LED Taillights, which will
also be included in every new MINI Hardtop and Convertible. For those
seeking even more personalization and style, the optional Piano Black
Exterior is now available on door handles, fuel lid (Cooper S/JCW),
exhaust end pipes (Cooper/Cooper S), MINI Logos and model badges
(Cooper/Cooper S/Cooper SE) in black.

Interior Design Highlights.

The new MINI Hardtops and Convertibles also include a variety of new
features and content in the interior, with a strong focus on
Infotainment & Digitalization.

When hopping into the cockpit, the driver and passenger will no doubt
notice the 8.8“-screen embedded in the center instrument design, which
is now standard on all models. It is combined with the all-new user
experience with a completely modernized look & feel, configurable
live widgets and two available color schemes (Lounge & Sport). New
for the updated models, Sirius Satellite Radio is now also standard on
all MINIs across the range as of Model Year 22. The new and
contemporary interior atmosphere is rounded off by the new MINI
Ambient Light with 6 different colors always matching perfectly to the
selected mode.

In the cooler climates, the driver will also quickly notice the
heated steering wheel that guarantees warm hands and comfort for
maximum driving experience, even on the coldest days. The newly
designed steering wheel also comes with horizontal spokes, buttons
integrated in even surface with Piano Black finish, as well as a new
design for the lower spoke in both steering wheel variants & sport
steering wheel in leather is standard.

The new MINI Hardtops and Convertibles will now also
feature increased safety with our Driving Assistant available as
standard on all U.S. bound MINIs, with the inclusion of Lane Departure
Warning which can actively alert the driver through steering wheel
vibration. Drivers can also enjoy the comfort of our extended Active
Cruise Control, which is now able to break down to 0 mph (only with
automatic and dual clutch transmission).

The New MINI Cooper SE.

The new enhancements made to the MINI Hardtops certainly does not
exclude the MINI Cooper SE. The fully electric variant of the MINI
Hardtop will get the same exterior updates to the front and rear
bumpers, side scuttles and front grille, along with the Piano Black
Exterior contents mentioned above and the Multitone roof. The MINI
Cooper SE creates its own identity with its yellow-accented 'S' and
closed-off radiator grille. Additional wheels will be available for
the MINI Cooper SE as of March 2021, including 16” Victory Spoke
black, 17” Tentacle Spoke black and 17” Scissor Spoke 2-tone.

well, including the new steering wheel design, new center instrument
design with 8.8” screen, heated steering wheel, lane departure
warning, and Sirius Satellite Radio as standard.

MINI Electric Collection 2021.

With the MINI Electric Collection 2021 we will be introducing a
unique and progressive limited edition for the MINI Cooper SE.
Carefully selected adaptations on interior and exterior underline the
Collection’s individual character and uniqueness.

U.S. Market Pricing

Despite all the new standard equipment upgrades, including the
addition of LED Headlights, a new Digital Instrument Cluster, Lane
Departure Warning and all the aesthetic updates, the MY 2022 MINI
Hardtops and Convertibles will see only a $500 increase across most
trim levels. At the same time, several highly popular trim levels will
see no price increase from MY 2021 to MY 2022, including the Signature
and Iconic trims on the MINI Cooper S Hardtop and MINI Cooper S
Convertible, the Iconic trim on the MINI John Cooper Works Hardtop and
MINI John Cooper Works Convertible. The Signature trim for both the
MINI John Cooper Works Hardtop and the MINI John Cooper Works
Convertible received a larger increase due to the addition of optional
equipment to those trim levels.

For the third straight model year, the MINI Cooper SE will not see a
price increase and will remain at a with a Manufacturer’s
Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $29,900 plus an

Woodcliff Lake, N.J., August 26, 2019. Sixty years
ago, driving changed forever. The year was 1959. The first Barbie Doll
was introduced, The Twilight Zone premiered on television, the first
American astronauts were publicly announced by NASA as part of Project
Mercury, and Hawaii and Alaska became the 49th and
50th states in the United States of America. Meanwhile,
another event occurred on the other side of the world that would
forever change the automotive industry, the first Mini was introduced
to the world.

On August 26, 1959, the first Mini debuted in Oxford, England.
Charged with creating a competitor to French- and German-made
micro-cars produced during the Suez oil crisis in 1956, Sir Alec
Issigonis was driven to design the first mass-produced car to use a
transverse engine. This, along with the car’s unique placement of its
wheels at the four corners, allowed the Mini to create a fun to drive
car that comfortably fit four adults despite its compact size, thus
establishing the brand’s famous go-kart handling and design philosophy
focused on creative use of space.

“There are few automobiles in history that were created and developed
based on a design philosophy that have gone on to be recognized by so
many pioneers, rebels, and racers.” said Steve Ambeau, Department Head, MINI Brand
Communications. “Both the Classic Mini and the modern-day MINI have
become the centerpiece of passionate owner communities and clubs,
while retaining their status as an authentic cultural icon chosen as a
daily driver by movie stars, musicians, athletes and automotive
enthusiasts around the world.”

A Racing Legend is Born

Just two years after the introduction of the Mini, John Cooper of
Cooper Car Company got involved with the brand in a big way. Cooper –
a pioneer for developing rear-engine racecars – made modifications to
the Mini and eventually created the Mini Cooper S, which was seen as a
sportier version of the iconic original. His modifications eventually
lead to the Mini Cooper S winning numerous racing championships
against more formidable competitors throughout the 1960s, including
the well-known Monte Carlo Rally in 1964, 1965 and 1967. The image of
Mini as a champion on the track helped it gain notoriety that
propelled Mini to become a symbol of the growing youth culture.

Popular Culture Phenomenon

The year was 1967. The first Super Bowl of all time was played
between the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs. The world’s
first heart transplant was performed. And Barbara Streisand performed
in front of 135,000 people in Central Park. While this was all
happening, the Mini was making its feature film debut on screens
across the globe in The Italian Job, a film starring Michael
Caine. Its appearance now legendary, at the time the film helped to
drive awareness of the Mini to new heights. Being seen in a Mini soon
became a statement many wanted to make, especially those in Europe.
And with celebrity owners such as George Harrison and Steve McQueen,
who could blame them? Alas, 1967 was also the final year the classic
Mini was sold in the US after a seven-year run.

A Galaxy Far, Far Away

By 1977, Star Wars hit the screens and captured the imaginations of
millions, beginning what has proven to be a long-running and lucrative
franchise. The same year, Apple launched the Apple II and the Concord
embarked on its first commercial flight. Mini celebrated the sale of
its 4 millionth car, surprisingly without the assistance of a
burgeoning automotive market far, far away – the United States. Sales
of the Mini were hindered by stricter safety and emissions standards
that went into effect in 1968, which meant the brand would have to
wait for its time to party in the U.S.A.

European Car of the Century

In 1999, the world population crossed six billion for the first time,
the internet reached 150 million users, and the Euro was introduced as
a currency in 11 European countries. Meanwhile, Mini celebrated its
40th anniversary in style – by receiving the distinguished honor of
“European Car of the Century,” which was voted upon by 130
international automotive journalists. The brand sold 5.3 million
classic Minis between 1959 and 2000 and revolutionized the automotive
industry in the process.

The Dawn of a New Era

As the new millennium arrived, the human genome was deciphered and
the first live-in crew arrived at the International Space Station, and
the Mini brand – a part of Rover Group at the time – had found itself
in the very capable hands of BMW Group. Rover Group was originally
acquired by BMW in 1994. However, in 2000, BMW chose to sell the Rover
Group while retaining the Mini brand.

As the world continued to change at a rapid pace, BMW was tasked with
updating an icon for the modern era. This was no easy task. The
classic Mini only underwent minor changes over the course of its first
40 years, so maintaining key Mini design hallmarks such as its round
headlights, flat tops and contrasting paint jobs, remained a top
priority. Engineers were tasked the unenviable job of trying to keep
the familiar Mini look and feel that everyone loved, as well as the
famous fun to drive go-kart handling, while also trying to figure out
how to inject modern horsepower and technology into vehicles designed
for the modern age.

But that’s exactly what they did in 2001 when the new generation of
MINI Cooper models were introduced. Originally available in Cooper,
Cooper S, and One variants, the performance-based John Cooper Works
range of tuning options soon followed. The new MINI models inspired
the 2003 remake of The Italian Job – featuring the new models as an
homage to two classics.

In 2005, MINI took a step into unchartered territory for the brand
when it launched its first-ever convertible. The first-generation MINI
Convertible, which was available in Cooper, Cooper S, and One
variants, featured a fully-automatic roof and several design choices
that harkened back to the classic Mini. It was followed by a second
generation of MINI Hardtop models in 2007 and its first John Cooper
Works model in 2008.

In the years that followed, MINI expanded the model range beyond the
Hardtop and Convertible with the introduction of new models, including
the Coupe, Roadster, and Paceman. MINI also introduced the Countryman
and Clubman, both of which are still part of the MINI lineup today.

To Infinity… and Beyond!

Fast-forward to 2019 - earlier this year, the Toy Story franchise saw
the release of its fourth installment, and Marvel completed its
decade-long, 23-film Infinity Saga with the release of Avengers:
Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home. As these long-running
franchises look to the future and begin to write new chapters in their
success stories, so too does MINI.

After the initial success of its MINI Cooper S E Countryman ALL4, a
plug-in hybrid vehicle, the brand announced in 2017 its intent to
build a fully electric vehicle at its Oxford plant. In 2019, MINI has
delivered on this promise by introducing the MINI Cooper SE, which
will be available at dealerships in the U.S. in early 2020. The new
electric vehicle combines sustainable mobility with the driving fun,
expressive design and premium quality that are typical of MINI.

“The new MINI Cooper SE, the first purely electric premium small car,
like the original Mini in 1959, will amaze people with its driving
dynamics.” said Patrick McKenna, Department Head, MINI Product
Planning & Consumer Events. “It represents the next chapter of our
illustrious history bringing sustainability and MINI legendary go kart
handling together.”

With the new MINI Cooper SE, this uniquely British brand once again
sets a pioneering impetus for urban mobility. Sixty years ago today,
the revolutionary design principle of the classic Mini established
itself, offering space-efficient, fuel-efficient mobility. This was
the case when MINI was re-launched in 2001, it was a modern
re-interpretation of Mini’s creative space usage and performance that
became the definitive premium small car, establishing the segment.

progressive character and appeal of its models in the small car
segment with a stylishly refined visual appearance and extensive
technological advancements. The update for the MINI Hardtop 2 Door,
the MINI Hardtop 4 Door and the MINI Convertible includes fresh design
accentuations, innovations in the field of drive technology,
additional customisation options and an expansion of the digital

The upgrading of the original product substance in the premium
segment of small cars highlights the mature yet distinctive charisma
of MINI, which in its current model generation is now available for
the first time with three body types for hallmark driving fun in urban
environments. This is due to such elements as an extended range of
standard features, newly designed headlights and rear lights,
additional body finishes and cutting-edge connectivity technology for
convenience and infotainment.

Bright and dazzle-free: LED headlights.

A modified design for the characteristic circular headlights make the
hallmark front view of the new MINI Hardtop 2 Door, the new MINI
Hardtop 4 Door and the new MINI Convertible even more powerfully
expressive. In the standard halogen headlights, a striking
accentuation is added by means of a black panel. In the LED headlights

underscored by means of an entirely newly design of the light sources.
The latest generation of the LED modules for low and high beam offers

Very British: rear lights in Union Jack design.

The rear lights also feature a new design in conjunction with the
optional LED headlights. As a clear reference to the brand's British
DNA, the upright light units at the rear of the new MINI Hardtop 2
Door, the new MINI Hardtop 4 Door and the new MINI Convertible now
appear in a Union Jack design.

The striking flag motif is recreated in the structure of the light
functions. The turn indicators are horizontally arranged and the brake
lights are vertically aligned, with the tail light additionally
representing the diagonal lines of the British flag. In order to
ensure a particularly harmonious lighting effect, all light sources
forming the Union Jack graphic use LED technology.

New MINI logo: reduced to the essentials.

The new MINI logo is clear and authentic in style, appearing on the
bonnet, tailgate, steering wheel, central instrument display, remote
control, and optional driver’s side puddle lighting all models. It is
a re-interpretation of the existing logo and now features a
two-dimensional "flat design". As such, the MINI logo
reflects the new brand identity with its focus on the essentials –
namely key values such as driving fun, distinctive design, premium
quality and emotional appeal.

Three new exterior paint colors, premiere for Piano Black Exterior.

The extensive range of exterior paint colors available for the new
MINI Hardtop 2 Door, the new MINI Hardtop 4 Door and the new MINI
Convertible now adds three variants: Emerald Grey metallic, Starlight
Blue metallic, and Solaris Orange metallic.

What is more, the list of optional equipment items features an
additional means of customizing the exterior design. With the option
Piano Black Exterior, the surrounds of the headlights, rear lights and
radiator grille are finished in high-gloss black instead of chrome.

The selection of optionally available light alloy wheels has been
expanded, too. The 17-inch light alloy wheels in the design styles
Roulette Spoke 2-tone and Propeller Spoke 2-tone are now available for
all body variants of the new MINI. The likewise 17-inch light alloy
wheels in Rail Spoke 2-tone design have also been newly added to the program.

A broad selection of seat surfaces, interior surfaces and Color Lines
add a touch of individual style to the interior of the new
MINI Hardtop 2 Door, the new MINI Hardtop 4 Door and the new MINI
Convertible. New features for the MINI Hardtop 2 Door and the MINI
Hardtop 4 Door include supple Malt Brown Chesterfield Leather upholstery.

In addition, the new option MINI Yours Interior Style Piano Black
with illumination includes a backlit decorative panel on the passenger
side of the dashboard, likewise finished in Piano Black as well as
bearing a stylised Union Jack motif. The color of the backlighting
matches the ambient lighting selected by the driver. This option also
adds high-gloss Piano Black surfaces in the area of the doors and
center console.,

Maximum individualization: MINI Yours Customised.

The MINI Yours Customised program now raises hallmark brand
individualization to a whole new level. It includes retrofit products
that can be designed by customers themselves, which are then produced
precisely according to these individual specifications. The MINI Yours
Customised range will include side scuttles, decorative strips for the
interior on the passenger side, LED door sill finishers and LED door projectors.

MINI Yours Customised products can be designed and previewed through

vehicle into a unique specimen that bears the stamp of their own
personality. The individualized products are manufactured using
innovative production techniques such as various 3D printing methods
and laser engraving.

New infotainment systems and features

A new 6.5” display is included as standard, and features an updated
and optimized user interface, Bluetooth mobile phone integration, and
support for Bluetooth audio streaming. In addition, customers can
specify a new 8.8” touchscreen navigation system with new user
interface and greatly expanded features.

the new MINI Hardtop 4 Door and the new MINI Convertible includes a
wireless charging option. A storage compartment integrated in the

this capability. This option also adds a second USB port in the front
section of the center console.

For the first time, the MINI Hardtop 2 Door and MINI Hardtop 4 Door
are available with a MINI logo projection feature. When the vehicle is
opened and closed, the new MINI logo is projected onto the ground in
front of the driver’s side door from a light source in the exterior
mirror and can be seen there for 20 seconds, or permanently if the
door is left open.

MINI Connected: a range of digital services that is unique
within the segment.

With the new MINI Connected functions, MINI offers a diverse range of
digital services at premium level that is unique in the small car
segment. New features include Advanced Real Time Traffic Information
with 4G LTE connectivity, support for Apple CarPlay, Connected
Services, and intelligent emergency call.

The personal mobility assistant feature of the MINI Connected
smartphone app now enables drivers of the new MINI Hardtop 2 Door, the
new MINI Hardtop 4 Door and the new MINI Convertible to integrate
their vehicle and mobility planning seamlessly into their day-to-day
digital routine. For example, MINI Connected can draw on calendar
entries and contact data entered in a smartphone to plan a route and
determine the ideal time to set off based on real time traffic data.
The Send-to-Car function enables planned routes to be sent to the MINI
navigation system, while Remote Services allow the driver not just to

Their position can not only be displayed on the on-board computer but
also in the MINI Connected App on a smartphone. In this way, MINI Find
Mate helps prevent personal items getting lost or left behind.

Salt Lake City – September 11, 2010… MINI USA
congratulates RSR Motorsports on their second-place finish this
evening in the Salt Lake City 200 held at Miller Motorsports Park.
This marks the third podium in a row for the both the team and car No.
198. During the 2010 season of the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports
Car Challenge, the RSR team has achieved two wins, a second and a
third place finish – the best season ever for a MINI racing team.

“The RSR Motorsports team has finished a season to be proud of,
and MINI USA is pleased that our vehicles played a key role in their
success,” said Jim McDowell, Vice President – MINI USA.
“GRAND-AM racing is an intense sport, and the RSR Motorsports
team has proven that MINI has a solid place on the track. I look
forward to the next racing season and all of the possibility it holds.”

RSR Motorsports races three MINI Cooper S vehicles in the ST (street
tuner) class of the Continental Tire Challenge. During the Salt Lake
City 200 race, team manager, Owen Trinkler, and driver, Sarah
Cattaneo, were co-drivers of the No. 198. Team owner, Randall Smalley,
and VJ Mirzayan drove the No. 197 car; while Dicky Riegel and BJ
Zacharias drove the No. 196 car.

In addition to the second-place finish today, RSR has earned wins at
the Garden State 250 and the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres. The team
finished in third place in the Homestead 200, where driver, Sarah
Cattaneo earned the pole starting position, and secured her place as
the first woman ever to do so in the ST class.

For their recent wins during the Garden State 250 and the Grand Prix
de Trois-Rivieres, RSR earned the largest single payouts from MINI
USA’s Motorsports Contingency Program ever made to any of the
motorsports teams that race MINI vehicles. For a first-place finish in
Grand-Am racing, a MINI driver is awarded $5,000 from the program. The
second-place finish of the Salt Lake City 200 has earned them an
additional award from the manufacturer.

“As a team, we are happy with our performance in 2010,
and we have learned a lot from both our wins and our losses,”
said RSR Motorsports team owner, Randall Smalley. “A total of 49
vehicles raced this season, and RSR now has a strong foothold in the
front of the pack as we move into the 2011 season.”

RSR Motorsports returned to the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car
Challenge Series in 2010 for their fourth season in professional
motorsports. RSR is based in Mesa, Arizona and has been a solid
presence in the Street Tuner (ST) class of Continental Tire Sports Car
Challenge since the team’s entry into the series in 2007.

Press Contact: Nathalie Bauters
Tel: +18647940842
E-mail: nathalie.bauters@bmwgroup.com

Press Release,Cooper,Product,MINI
