<strong>Richmond Hill, ON. </strong>BMW is pleased to introduce the
all-new, second generation BMW X4, debuting in M40i M Performance and
BMW X4 xDrive30i variants. The 2019 BMW X4 with sportier proportions
created by an emphasized wider track features the latest generation
suspension, a lower center of gravity and improved aerodynamics. </p>
<p>The second generation Sports Activity Coupé offers a wide array of
new standard safety features such as Active Protection which initiates
protective measures when an accident situation is imminent such as
belt tensioning and closing windows and sunroof to a small gap.
Additionally, the standard Driving Assistant features include Frontal
Collision Warning, City Collision Mitigation with Braking, Pedestrian
Warning with City Braking, and Speed Limit Information. When equipped
with Navigation, the optional Head-Up Display boasts a multi-color, 75
  percent larger projection area.</p>
<p>Not only does the all-new BMW X4 appear sportier, provide new and
improved driving dynamics, better aerodynamics and safety features,
passengers can now enjoy a larger panoramic sunroof and a 3-Zone
Climate Control system which allows for greater  ride comfort.
<strong>The all-new 2019 BMW X4 will be available at Canadian BMW
Retailers in July 2018 with pricing to be announced closer to market
    launch. </strong></p>
<p>
  <strong>Vehicle concept and design.</strong></p>
<p>The all-new BMW X4 underscores its individual character with
significantly enhanced driving dynamics, standout exterior design
accentuating the car’s sporting instincts, a refined premium ambience
in the interior, state-of-the-art driver assistance systems and
leading-edge connectivity technologies. Additionally, the dynamic and
extravagant aura of the Sports Activity Coupé is highlighted by the
  BMW M Performance model: the all-new BMW X4 M40i.</p>
<p>The exterior design of the all-new BMW X4 features clean surfacing
and high-class, modern accents. The BMW X4 assumes the role of
eye-catching athlete in the BMW X model family. “The second-generation
BMW X4 brings together a distinctive, dynamic silhouette with a clear,
pared-back use of forms,” says Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice
  President BMW Group Design.</p>
<p>
  <strong>Dynamically stretched proportions, powerful styling.</strong></p>
<p>An increase in exterior length of 81 mm to 4,752 mm, an extra 37 mm
of width, and 54 mm added to the wheelbase (now 2,864 mm) and a 3mm
drop in height lend the all-new BMW X4 dynamically stretched
proportions. Short overhangs and powerfully formed, subtly hexagonal
wheel arches emphasize the nearly perfectly[KRA1]  balanced 50:50
distribution of weight between the front and rear axle.</p>
<p>In the center of the striking front end stands a large BMW kidney
grille in three-dimensional look. Twin headlight units with dynamic
contours and horizontal fog lamps integrated into the outer air
intakes form a new interpretation of the familiar six-eyed face
  embraced by BMW X models.</p>
<p>All of the light functions feature LED technology as standard. The
shoulder line – following the door handles to the rear lights – and
the character line between the wheel arches break up the surfaces of
the car’s flanks. This creates clearly defined lines which are
additionally emphasized by the drawn-in glasshouse at the rear. The
Coupé style roofline slides into the rear window with an elegant
flourish before dipping down more steeply to the rear. The window
graphic also underlines the dynamic proportions of the all-new BMW X4,
thanks to a smoothly rising sill line and an elongated take on the
Hofmeister kink “counter-swing” at the base of the C-pillars. Clearly
structured surfaces and horizontal lines shape the car’s tail. The LED
rear lights, with their three-dimensional shaping, are slim in design
and positioned at the extreme edges of the rear. Combined with the
twin exhaust tailpipes (shared by all engine variants), they magnify
the width of the rear end.</p>
<p>
  <strong>Standard xLine and the M Performance model.</strong></p>
<p>Two optional model variants allow drivers to tailor the appearance of
the all-new BMW X4 to reflect their personal preference. The robust
nature of the Sports Activity Coupé is clearly expressed by the
standard xLine design which combines bespoke front and rear underguard
elements and side skirts in Glacier Silver metallic with side window
surrounds and styling accents in a satin Aluminum finish. The M
Performance model has an undeniably dynamic look, clearly stating its
eagerness to deliver intense sportiness on the open road with its
aerodynamically optimized front/rear aprons and side skirts, and
accents in High-gloss Black. The all-new BMW X4 M40i can now also be
specified with options from the BMW Individual portfolio. Extras
designed to give the exterior design an exceptionally exclusive feel
include the BMW Individual paint finish Sunstone metallic and 21-inch
  BMW Individual light-alloy wheels.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
<strong>Interior and equipment. Sporting character with a modern,
    premium feel. </strong></p>
<p>The interior cabin of the the all-new BMW X4 is roomier with a
premium feel. All the controls are clearly arranged and set within
trim finishers featuring a distinctly pared-down design. The low
instrument panel and the slightly raised seating position typical of
BMW X models afford drivers a superb view of the road ahead. The
driver-focused layout of the cockpit helps to create a wonderfully
sporty driving experience at all times. Redesigned sports seats with
boldly contoured side bolsters provide outstanding lateral support
even in extreme handling situations. Knee pads on the sides of the
center console add an extra touch of sportiness.</p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>Premium materials, precise build quality and a host of meticulously
crafted details set the tone for the modern and individual character
of the all-new BMW X4. The surfaces of the instrument panel and door
paneling merge smoothly into one another, while the X logos embossed
into the electroplated surfaces of the front and rear doors are
eye-catching details. The power window buttons, the Start/Stop button,
the multifunction buttons on the sports steering wheel and the
controls on the center console can also be embellished with
electroplated detailing as an option. The ambient lighting, adding
extra light sources around the center console and instrument panel, in
the door paneling and in the foot wells, enhances the sense of
wellbeing in the interior of the all-new BMW X4. The lighting mood can
be adjusted as the driver pleases thanks to a choice of six colors.
Large storage trays, roomy door pockets, cup holders and various
compartments are all testimony to the functional qualities of the
  all-new BMW X4.</p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>
<strong>Effective differentiation in the interior, too.</strong></p>
<p>The BMW X4 xDrive30i comes standard with xLine and exclusive design
features are available for the BMW X4 M40i M Performance model.
Standard sports seats and interior trim strips in Dark Oak Wood with
accent strips in Pearl-effect Chrome give the cabin of the BMW X4
xDrive30i an air of elegance. The audio and air conditioning control
panels sport a Pearl-effect Chrome surround and Highgloss Black
highlights. The BMW X4 M40i  also comes with M specific sports seats,
a Sport leather steering wheel and the standard anthracite-colored BMW
Individual headliner, complemented by interior trim strips in Aluminum
Rhombicle with accent strips in Pearl-effect Chrome. The instrument
panel and door shoulders in the all-new BMW X4 can be optionally
specified with leatherette. There is also the option of the new
Vernasca leather upholstery, which is exclusively available for the
all-new BMW X4 in the color Tacora Red, as well as in Black and for
the M Performance model with a choice of blue or red contrast
stitching. Additionally, the BMW X4 M40i can be specified with options
from the BMW Individual portfolio. Options include BMW Individual
extended Merino leather upholstery (in the color combinations Ivory
  White/Black, Fiona Red/Black and Tartufo/Black),</p>
<p>
  <strong> </strong></p>
<p>
  <strong>Comfort and functionality.</strong></p>
<p>A far wider array of choices of options, offers greater scope for
customers to increase both the comfort and functionality of the
all-new BMW X4. The range includes electrically adjustable and heated
seats, active seat ventilation and three-zone automatic climate
control with separately adjustable temperature control in the rear. A
standard panoramic glass sunroof with much larger dimensions than the
predecessor offers passengers additional comfort. The two-section
glass surface with an overall length of 924 mm and a width of 890 mm
allows the amount of light in the interior and the supply of fresh air
to be varied as required and creates space. The sun blind is
electrically operated, as is the front section of the glass roof.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Three full-size seats are fitted in the rear compartment of the
all-new BMW X4, providing the passengers there with an additional 27
mm of legroom over the predecessor model. The trunk has a capacity of
525 litres and the load space can be expanded to a maximum of 1430
litres as required by folding down the sections of the rear backrest,
with its standard 40:20:40 split. For added ease, the backrest
sections can be released remotely from the trunk, while the optional
cargo function allows their angle to be individually adjusted, too.
The standard storage package adds additional compartments, USB ports
and 12V sockets, as well as multifunctional hooks and lashing rails in
  the trunk.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>The BMW X4 xDrive 30i. </strong></p>
<p>The four-cylinder unit in the all-new BMW X4 xDrive30i generates 248
hp and peak torque of 258 lb-ft, on tap between 1,450 and 4,800 rpm.
With a twin-scroll turbocharger, High Precision Injection,
VALVETRONIC fully variable valve timing and Double-VANOS variable
  camshaft control, the X4 xDrive 30i sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>The BMW M Performance, M40i model.</strong></p>
<p>For the first time, the BMW X4 is available as a BMW M Performance
model.  Featuring model specific design and equipment features, the
inline six cylinder engine is supported by chassis technology that has
been precisely tuned to handle the high drive power. The BMW X4 M40i
variant comes standard with M Sport brakes, which allow drivers to
enjoy exceptionally dynamic handling with phenomenal stopping power.
The system includes extra-large brake discs and blue painted calipers.
Also standard is the Adaptive M Suspension featuring electronically
controlled dampers whose responses adjust to the nature of the road
and driving style. Drivers can choose between a sportier or more
comfortable basic setting by activating the relevant performance maps
using the Driving Experience Control switch.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The engines under the hood of BMW M Performance Automobiles stand out
with their instantaneous response and tireless power delivery. With
its trademark free-revving performance, maximum output of 355 hp and
peak torque of 365 lb-ft, the power unit propels the all-new BMW X4
  M40i from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The standard M sports exhaust system produces unmistakable sound, M
Sport differential serves up wonderfully dynamic cornering. The
sensational power delivery of the six-cylinder inline engines is
accompanied by a soundtrack to match. The flap-controlled M sports
exhaust system on the BMW M Performance models doesn’t just make a
great impression acoustically, though – its trapezoidal tailpipes in
black chrome form a stunning visual highlight. Power is relayed to the
wheels via an eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission including
Launch Control function as standard. The sporty nature of the BMW M
Performance model is enhanced by the rear biased set-up of the BMW
xDrive all-wheel drive and the Performance Control function. The
standard M Sport differential generates a precise locking effect at
the rear wheels, priming the car perfectly to power out of corners
  with dynamic drive.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The BMW X4 M40i comes equipped as standard with M Sport brakes and M
light-alloy wheels; variable sport steering and M Sport suspension
with firmer spring and damper tuning. Their M Sport brakes are
specially designed with an extra-large master cylinder to help
optimize braking feel. Customers can also opt for the Adaptive M
suspension, which is exclusively available for the two BMW M
Performance models and further broadens the range of adjustment
between sporty handling and well-balanced ride comfort.</p>

boasts an excellent position in the all-wheel-drive market, a segment
it first entered 30 years ago. Around one in three BMW cars sold
around the world is now equipped with the intelligent BMW xDrive
all-wheel-drive system. BMW’s success in this segment has been driven
not only by the ever-popular BMW X models but also by all-wheel-drive
models based on the other model series, from the BMW 1 Series to the
BMW 7 Series. Across these model series, a large choice of AWD models
is offered in a wide range of engine versions. At the same time, BMW
continues to refine this technology and take it in new directions. By
offering BMW xDrive in combination with a hybrid drive and with a
front-wheel-drive platform, the company has repeatedly demonstrated
its proficiency in the all-wheel-drive field, proficiency that will
secure BMW’s position at the forefront of this sector well into the
future. Today, BMW offers more than 110 models – of either
transmission type – with BMW xDrive in 12 different model series, as
well as the plug-in hybrid BMW i8 sports car and the compact BMW 225xe
  with electrified all-wheel drive.</p>
<p>
  <span>
<strong>The focus from day one: traction and dynamics.</strong></span>
  <span>
<br /></span>BMW’s first foray into the all-wheel-drive market came
with the unveiling of the BMW 325i “Allrad” at the Frankfurt Motor
Show (IAA) in 1985. From the outside, the newcomer didn’t immediately
reveal its inner qualities, so its performance when the journalists
took it out on the test track was even more of an eye-opener. This
very first BMW all-wheel-drive system not only improved traction away
from surfaced roads and in adverse weather conditions, but also made
for more dynamic handling through corners. “The new BMW is the new
champion when it comes to handling,” was the verdict of the testers
from German car magazine Auto Zeitung not long after the first unveiling.</p>
<p>Today, the intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive system takes
typical BMW driving dynamics to new levels. The current generation of
this system is controlled by the Integrated Chassis Management (ICM)
system, which ensures that xDrive always responds appropriately at the
earliest possible moment, based on reliable sensing and monitoring of
the current driving situation. The interventions may be performed
either entirely by BMW xDrive, or by xDrive in combination with
Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) or Dynamic Performance Control (DPC).
The resulting fast and precise control of drive power distribution
ensures typical BMW handling characteristics even under extremely
  dynamic cornering.</p>
<p>The all-wheel-drive system is biased towards the typical BMW
rear-wheel-drive characteristics. That is to say, on the
all-wheel-drive models a greater share of the drive power is sent to
the rear wheels, even under normal driving conditions. This maintains
the typical BMW precise steering response, with virtually no torque
steer. For crisp turn-in and high tracking stability, the
latest-generation BMW xDrive system starts increasing the amount of
power sent to the rear wheels as soon as the vehicle enters a corner,
further enhancing the driving pleasure for which BMW is a byword.</p>
<p>
  <span>
    <strong>BMW all-wheel-drive technology: continuous evolution since 1985.</strong></span>
  <br />The full-time all-wheel-drive system featured on the BMW 325i
“Allrad” of 1985 split the drive power in a ratio of 37 to 63 per cent
between the front and rear wheels. In response to wheel speed
differences, visco locks in the transfer case and rear differential
were capable of providing a virtually rigid connection between the
front and rear wheels, in order to improve traction and stability.
This model’s name was soon changed to BMW 325iX, and from 1988 it was
offered in a “touring” version as well (lower-case spelling up to and
  including the E46 series).</p>
<p>
  <strong>1991: BMW 525iX.</strong>
<br />Three years on, BMW introduced an all-wheel-drive model in the
BMW 5 Series too. For the first time, the power split was now
electronically controlled. The newly developed system featured
multi-plate clutches that allowed the default 36:64 front-to-rear
power split to be varied seamlessly and automatically in line with
driving conditions. Initially a hydraulically controlled multi-plate
clutch was used at the rear axle, but this was later replaced by
electronically controlled selective braking intervention. The system
monitored the driving situation using wheel speed signals from the
Anti-lock Braking System, supplemented by further information about
brake status, engine speed and throttle valve position.</p>
<p>From the outset the all-wheel-drive system of the BMW 525iX was a
class apart. The electronic control system delivered a very fast and
precise response, resulting in safe, neutral handling characteristics
even in difficult driving conditions, such as on wet roads or snow. In
the BMW 5 Series, too, the first all-wheel-drive models were offered
in both Sedan and touring versions.</p>
<p>
  <span>
<strong>1999: The Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) opens a new chapter.</strong></span>
<br />In the run-up to the new millennium, a highly innovative vehicle
concept from BMW made its sensational debut. The BMW X5, the first
Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV), impressed customers with driving
dynamics that were unmatched among other all-terrain vehicles of the
time. The outstanding all-wheel-drive system played a big part in
this. A planetary gear system split the drive power in a ratio of
38:62 per cent between the front and rear wheels, while electronic
control systems such as DSC (Dynamic Stability Control), ADB-X
(Automatic Differential Brake) and HDC (Hill Descent Control) ensured
the new BMW X5 was both sporty on the road and equipped to handle
challenging conditions off the beaten track.</p>
<p>In the years following the successful launch of the SAV concept,
there was no let-up in the fast pace of all-wheel-drive development at
BMW. The next year, 2000, a model-specific version of the BMW X5’s
all-wheel drive technology became available for the fourth generation
  of the BMW 3 Series.</p>
<p>
  <span>
<strong>2003: BMW xDrive makes its debut in the BMW X3 and BMW X5.</strong></span>
<br />Four years on from the debut of the BMW X5 in 1999, BMW kept up
the momentum by launching the SAV concept in a further vehicle
segment. The new BMW X3 was more compact than the BMW X5 and offered
even more agile handling. It set new benchmarks and remained the only
premium model in its class for years to come.</p>
<p>The newly developed BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive system, which was
introduced in the same year in both the BMW X3 and the BMW X5, soon
extended BMW’s lead in the AWD segment. Based on an extremely
fast-acting electronic multi-plate clutch in the transfer case, xDrive
worked in tandem with the Dynamic Stability Control system (DSC) to
continuously adapt the drive power split to the current driving
situation. In addition to wheel speed, for the first time the
electronic control system also took into account Dynamic Stability
Control data, for example about steering angle, accelerator position
and lateral acceleration. This is what makes BMW xDrive the world’s
first, and still only, “intelligent” all-wheel-drive system. Unlike
conventional all-wheel-drive systems, which only react when at least
one wheel is already spinning, xDrive is able to detect a risk of
oversteer or understeer at the very first signs, and proactively
corrects this by redirecting the flow of drive power.</p>
<p>In the years that followed, the BMW xDrive intelligent
all-wheel-drive system was fitted not only on the X models but also on
the xDrive versions of the BMW 3 and 5 Series Sedan and Touring
models. By the time the second generation of the BMW X3 was introduced
in 2010, more than 600,000 units of this series had already been sold
worldwide. A little earlier, sales of the BMW X5 – which entered its
second generation in 2006 – had topped the one million mark.</p>
<p>
<strong>2008: SAC with Dynamic Performance Control and hybrid
drive</strong>. <br />With the two Sports Activity Vehicles now firmly
established in their respective segments, in 2007 BMW went on to
present the world’s first Sports Activity Coupe. Unveiled at the
Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA), the brand-new BMW X6 elevated the typical
dynamic character of the BMW X models to a new level of intensity. For
the first time, the intelligent all-wheel-drive system was combined
with Dynamic Performance Control (DPC), which varies the drive power
split between the rear wheels when cornering to ensure unrivalled
agility and stability, even under sudden throttle changes or on
overrun. In 2009, the BMW Active Hybrid X6 demonstrated a further
perfect pairing – between BMW xDrive and hybrid propulsion. Meanwhile,
in the same year, BMW M GmbH added two very special models to its
range of high-performance sports cars. With an M-tuned BMW xDrive
system, including Dynamic Performance Control, the BMW X5 M and BMW X6
M boasted performance that was previously unknown in the
  all-wheel-drive market.</p>
<p>2009 also saw the arrival of a new X model, the BMW X1. For many
years to come, the BMW X1 was destined to remain the only vehicle of
its kind in the premium compact segment. Its intelligent BMW xDrive
all-wheel-drive system, like that of the new BMW X3 (2010), was also
combinable with Performance Control. This system selectively brakes
the wheel on the inside of a turn while simultaneously increasing
engine power, resulting in quick and precise turn-in to corners and
taking the agile handling of both models to new levels.</p>
<p>
<strong>BMW xDrive also available for other model series.</strong>
<br />The steady advance of the BMW X models has been accompanied by
an increase in the number of xDrive versions offered in the other BMW
model series too. Designed to improve cornering agility and precision,
BMW xDrive provides an enhanced driving experience and an optimal
combination of dynamics and comfort. So it was only a matter of time
before this intelligent drive technology made its debut in the BMW 7
Series as well, in 2009. In spring 2012, the first all-wheel-drive
Coupe and Convertible models were then offered in the sporty BMW 6
Series. BMW xDrive can also be specified on the current BMW 3 and 5
Series and, since 2013, on the Convertible, Coupe and Gran Coupe
models of the new BMW 4 Series.</p>
<p>
  <strong>Driving progress ever forward.</strong>
<br />BMW took things forward in the premium mid-sized segment with
the launch of the BMW X4 in 2014. The new Sports Activity Coupe offers
a unique blend of driving enjoyment, sophisticated style and
contemporary practicality. It comes with BMW xDrive as standard and is
available in a wide range of engine versions. In the same year, BMW
also presented the third generation of the BMW X5, the second
generation of the BMW X6, and M Sport versions of both models. BMW
xDrive also made its debut in the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer. This
was a debut with a difference, being the first time BMW had combined
its intelligent all-wheel-drive system with an all-new
  front-wheel-drive format.</p>
<p>With the BMW i8, unveiled in 2014, the BMW Group took a bold new step
in new directions – which also extended to the all-wheel-drive system.
This 2+2-seater sports model is powered by a highly advanced plug-in
hybrid drive system that pairs an internal combustion engine driving
the rear wheels with a high-performance electric motor driving the
  front wheels.</p>
<p>
<strong>Focused on the future: BMW xDrive meets BMW eDrive.</strong>
<br />BMW’s latest all-wheel-drive models bring technology advances
that are firmly focused on the future of mobility. The BMW i8 was
followed by the international launch of the first production plug-in
hybrid model from the BMW core brand: the BMW X5 xDrive40e. Thanks to
full-time BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive and eDrive BMW EfficientDynamics
technology, this Sports Activity Vehicle mates thrilling and
effortless sporty performance with outstanding efficiency. Intelligent
hybrid power management synchronises the operation of the internal
combustion engine and the electric motor to maximise efficiency at all
times, while also responding perfectly to the driver’s demands. The
drive from the two power units is transferred to the road via the
  full-time BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system.</p>
<p>
<strong>BMW 7 Series: Integral Active Steering combinable with BMW xDrive.</strong>
<br />In September 2015, the sixth generation of the BMW 7 Series
makes its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA). This high-end
BMW luxury model pioneers groundbreaking innovations on all fronts,
and will be available with BMW xDrive from its market launch in
October. The new luxury sedan will also be the first model to allow
intelligent all-wheel-drive to be combined with Integral Active
Steering – that is to say with passively steering rear wheels.</p>

<strong>.</strong>BMW is pleased to introduce the all-new BMW X4
Sports Activity Coupé, a new dimension of the mid-sized premium Sports
Activity Vehicle. Like the X6 before it, the BMW X4 combines the
performance and capability of a premium Sports Activity Vehicle, with
the style and elegance of traditional Coupé. The new BMW X4 will be
offered with a choice of two TwinPower Turbo engines. The X4
  xDrive28i, with a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price of $46,300
  will feature BMW’s award-winning 241 horsepower 2.0-liter four
cylinder engine, while the top-of-line X4 xDrive35i, with an MSRP of
  $54,950, will feature BMW’s venerable 300 horsepower 3.0-liter inline
six. Both models include an 8-speed Steptronic sport automatic
transmission with shift paddles as well as xDrive, BMW’s intelligent
  all-wheel drive system.</p>
<p>The 2015 BMW X4 will make its world debut at the New York
International Auto Show in April and begin production this spring
exclusively at BMW’s US production facility in Spartanburg, South
Carolina, arriving in Canadian BMW showrooms in July of 2014.</p>
<p>The new BMW X4 offers the premium mid-size segment its first taste of
the Sports Activity Coupé concept. Like its larger sibling, the BMW
X6, the X4 offers a unique and unmistakable presence on the road. The
X6 has demonstrated the appeal of the Sports Activity Coupé concept
with 250,000 sold worldwide to date.</p>
<p>A unique expression of The Ultimate Driving Experience.<br />Compared
to its stablemate, the BMW X3, the newest Sports Activity Coupé
reveals a dynamic personality all its own and an even more ebullient
character. At 4,680 mm in length, it is14 mm longer than the X3, but
is also 37 mm lower (height: 1,624 mm) and cuts a persuasive figure
with its perfectly balanced proportions and distinctive character. The
large air intakes positioned on the outer edges of the front facia and
the precise character lines in the front apron lend the X4 a more
muscular appearance. This lowers the car’s visual centre of gravity
closer to the road, signaling its sharper dynamics. The effect is
further enhanced by the LED foglights located below the signature twin
round headlights, an arrangement that defines the striking face of
  every BMW X model.</p>
<p>The Coupé-like roofline of the BMW X4 reaches its highest point over
the front seats, reflecting the traditional driver focus of every BMW,
before dropping gently down towards the trailing edge of the tailgate.
These stretched lines underline the sporting Coupé character of the
X4. The unique design of the BMW X4 is further reinforced by the fresh
interpretation of the signature swage line running along the flanks of
BMW models which, for the first time, is split into two. The first
section rises smoothly from the front wheel arches to the rear door
handles, highlighting the dynamic ability of the new BMW X4, while the
second part accentuates the powerful sculpting of the rear fenders.
The contoured C-pillars – complete with muscular shoulders – represent
a continuation of the theme, as does the broad and low-set rear end,
which reminds the driver and passengers of the performance potential
served up by the new BMW X4 before they even climb aboard.</p>
<p>Sporty and exclusive interior.<br />The interior of the new BMW X4
reveals a synthesis of sportiness and exclusivity. The X4’s body is
mounted 37 mm lower than that of the BMW X3. The driver and front
passenger sit 20 mm lower and the rear passengers 28 mm lower,
creating the feeling of a classic sports Coupé. It is a sensation
reinforced by the rear seat bench, which comes with the type of
continuously molded side bolsters normally only provided by two
individual seats, but still offers space for three passengers. Equally
impressive is the load capacity available, 500–1,400 litres, which can
be used in a wide variety of ways thanks to the standard 40:20:40
split rear seat bench. Everyday usability is enhanced even further by
the standard power tailgate. It is available with the extra
convenience of the optional Smart Opener, which allows it to be opened
with a movement of the foot. All X4s include BMW’s iDrive Controller
and central display. When equipped with the available on-board
navigation system, the new BMW X4 receives the new iDrive Controller
with touchpad, which allows drivers or passengers to use their finger
to write letters for text inputs, such as a navigation destination,
  for example.</p>
<p>The premium quality and exclusivity of the interior are underlined by
selected materials, subtle electroplated accents, a high-gloss
black-panel look and aluminum trim strips in the wood paneling. The
unmistakable character of the BMW X4 is further highlighted by a level
of standard equipment even more generous than that found on the
BMW X3. All X4s include the aforementioned power tailgate as well as a
sports leather steering wheel with shift paddles, variable sport
steering, Performance Control and rear Park Distance Control.</p>
<p>M Sport and xLine for extra individualization.<br />M Sport brings
the outstanding dynamics of the BMW X4 into greater focus; standard
equipment on the 35i and optional for 28i customers. One element of
M Sport is the M Aerodynamics package, which gives the BMW X4 a
particularly striking appearance. The High-gloss Shadow Line trim
lends even greater emphasis to the unique character of the Sports
Activity Coupé and the sporty suspension set-up raises driving
pleasure another notch. Six selected paint finishes (including
Melbourne Red metallic), four special interior trim strips, sports
seats with various leather upholstery options, an M leather steering
wheel, M door sill finishers, an M driver’s footrest and standard
  19-inch wheels on the X4 28i (20” optional) and standard 20-inch M
light-alloy wheels on the X4 35i add the finishing touches to the
  car’s appearance.</p>
<p>In addition to the broad-based and high-quality selection of
different colors, light-alloy wheels, upholstery variants, interior
trim elements and trim strips for which BMW is renowned, the xLine
equipment package gives BMW X4 customers the chance to shine an even
brighter spotlight on the X character of their car.</p>
<p>Powerful and refined BMW TwinPower Turbo engines. <br />The
state-of-the-art TwinPower Turbo engines available for the new BMW X4
boast High Precision Direct Injection, Double-Vanos variable camshaft
control and Valvetronic fully variable valve timing. These
technologies join forces to provide the high-revving character for
which BMW is renowned, along with excellent power delivery, refinement
  – and impressive efficiency. Drivers with sporting ambitions will
  appreciate the top-of-the-line X4 xDrive35i. Its 3.0-liter inline six
conjures up maximum output of 300 hp between 5,800 and 6,400 rpm and
peak torque of 300 lb-ft at 1,200–5,000 rpm. That’s enough to power
  the X4 xDrive35i from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds. The 241 hp
  turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder powering the BMW X4 xDrive28i
  produces peak torque of 258 lb-ft  and a 0 to 100 km/h time of 6.4
seconds. Both engines are mated to BMW’s 8-speed Steptronic sport
  automatic transmission.</p>
<p>BMW xDrive: the intelligent all-wheel-drive system with Performance
  Control.<br />All X4 models have a sporty suspension set-up and come
standard with xDrive, BMW’s intelligent all-wheel-drive system.
Performance Control is standard on the X4. It uses the Dynamic
Stability Control system to direct power to the outside rear wheel
when cornering which improves traction, turn-in and directional
stability. Working in tandem with the standard variable sport
steering, these systems allow the BMW X4 to deliver driving dynamics
that one would expect of The Ultimate Driving Machine. An xDrive
status display in the Control Display uses three-dimensional graphics
to keep the driver informed of the car’s body roll and pitch. If the
navigation system is specified, a compass display in the instrument
  cluster is included.</p>
<p>BMW EfficientDynamics: ECO PRO mode and coasting function reduce fuel
consumption. <br />Further reductions in fuel consumption can be
achieved courtesy of ECO PRO mode (selected using the
Driving Dynamics Control switch), the ECO PRO Route option and the
eight-speed Steptronic transmission’s coasting function. ECO PRO
adjusts all of the on-board systems for maximum fuel efficiency. It
includes a coasting function which shuts off fuel when the driver
lifts off the accelerator. It also provides tips to the driver that
would help to drive in a more efficient manner. The payoff is shown in
the central display which shows how much further the BMW X4 can be
driven on the gasoline available in the tank. With the available
navigation system, the ECO PRO Route option prompts the driver to
select and follow the route to the chosen destination that would use
the least amount of fuel. The X4 also features BMW’s auto start/stop
function which shuts of the engine when the vehicle comes to a stop in
order to avoid wasting fuel when the X4 would otherwise be needlessly idling.</p>
<p>Proactive Driving Assistant offers recommendations.<br />The
innovative BMW Proactive Driving Assistant offers additional potential
for fuel saving. This technology uses route data supplied by the car’s
navigation system to identify situations in advance which will require
the car to slow down – e.g. on the way into towns and villages, speed
limits etc. – and give suitable recommendations.</p>
<p>
<strong>BMW ConnectedDrive: Driver assistance and services & BMW
Apps.<br /></strong>Providing added safety and greater convenience in
the BMW X4 is the optional full-color Head-Up Display, which projects
all important driving information and assistance systems displays into
the driver’s field of view in high resolution. What’s more, the
latest-generation Navigation System with ECO PRO route guidance now
teams up with the iDrive Controller with touchpad.  Mounted on top of
the controller, the touchpad allows texts – e.g. a navigation
destination – to be easily input using a finger. Included with the
Navigation System in the US is Advanced Real Time Traffic Information
  (ARTTI). ARTTI.</p>
