The MINI Paul Smith Edition translates the designer’s signature style into a distinctive edition for the MINI Cooper family—recognisable through characteristic accents both inside and out. The edition is now readily available for the MINI Cooper 3‑Door (electric and petrol), the MINI Cooper 5‑Door, and the MINI Cooper Convertible.

Details with a British twist

Three exterior colours are available for the edition, including two exclusives. Statement Grey reinterprets the 1959 Mini Austin Seven shade in a contemporary way - a clean grey with a subtle blue hue. Inspired White echoes the beloved beige of the classic Mini in a modern tone. Completing the palette is Midnight Black Metallic, an elegant black from the current MINI colour range.

Defining the look are striking contrasts between body, roof, and accent colours, combined with the signature Paul Smith stripes. Door mirrors, the radiator grille surround, and wheel hub caps stand out across all models in Nottingham Green - a nod to the British designer’s hometown.

In 2025, MINI recorded global sales of 288,290 vehicles. Battery electric vehicles comprised more than one third of worldwide deliveries and even surpassed 50% in markets like the Netherlands, Turkey, Sweden, and China. MINI manufacturing in British BMW Group Plants

Over the past 25 years, modern MINI production has evolved across four model generations, spanning a range of body styles including the original 3-door, 5-door, Roadster, Coupe, Clubman, Clubvan and Convertible. In total, 4,671,664 MINIs have now been built in Britain since 2001.

MINI’s modern era has been powered by its UK production heartland. At the centre of that story are two UK manufacturing hubs: Plant Oxford, the home of MINI production, and BMW Group Plant Swindon, where thousands of precision-engineered body panels are crafted every day.

Together, these two sites represent one of the UK’s most significant automotive manufacturing hubs, with a workforce of more than 3,000 highly skilled people producing around 800 MINIs a day. At Plant Oxford, a new MINI drives off the production line every 78 seconds.

Plants Oxford and Swindon have been at the heart of their communities for a very long time – 113 and 70 years respectively. The wider production story took another important step in 2006 when BMW Group Plant Hams Hall in North Warwickshire began producing engines for the MINI, with more than 4.6 million engines produced for the Oxford-built models.

Munich/Graz. MINI and Austrian design studio Vagabund present a new creative collaboration: two unique one-off vehicles based on the MINI Countryman, both of which set a powerful statement for adventure spirit, community culture and festival lifestyle.

“A long-standing tradition and core value of the MINI brand is individual vehicle customization. Together with Vagabund, MINI continues this approach and demonstrates how a creative reinterpretation of the MINI Countryman – inspired by festival culture and music – can be brought to life through an engaged community,” says Jean‑Philippe Parain, Head of MINI.

MINI x Vagabund: The Duo
Vagabund successfully adds a distinctive design layer to the MINI Countryman that authentically expresses individuality, design philosophy and community spirit. MINI deliberately provides the platform – Vagabund contributes their creative signature. The result: two charismatic vehicles that reinterpret the versatility and openness of the MINI Countryman in an entirely new way.

“For us, design does not begin with the object, but with the idea behind it – and it only ends when that idea becomes tangible. The MINI x Vagabund one-offs translate a clear concept into an experiential statement. Two distinctive characters, united by MINI Countryman DNA, create a composition full of tension – making design visible as an emotional experience,” explains Paul Brauchart, Co-Founder and Head of Creative Vagabund.

Holger Hampf, Head of MINI Design: “MINI Design stands for vehicles with strong character that people enjoy driving and living with—true to the motto: lifestyle meets function and fun. Through our collaboration with Vagabund on these two vehicles, we were able to once again showcase our attention to detail and technical craftsmanship in a striking way.”

With a sophisticated sound system, graphic accents and a bold colour concept, the two vehicles themselves become moving sound stages. The vehicle finished in Melting Silver features sand-coloured & white body exterior details: playful, graphic and light. The Midnight Black example stands in deliberate contrast – monochrome black, precise and technical. It is this contrast that enhances their perception and creates an overall impression that only becomes fully apparent when both vehicles are experienced together.

Bodywork & proportions
Distinctively reworked wheel arches create a visually wider stance and give the vehicles a further striking appearance. A front bumper attachment ensures a harmonious connection between the wings and the original front apron. Front and rear bumpers are colour-coordinated with the additional body modifications, with the radiator grille being revised accordingly. Along the side sills, sits prominently integrated VAGABUND lettering as a three-dimensional element.
The raised ride height further emphasizes the off-road character of the two MINI Countryman S ALL4 models. In addition, 20‑inch wheels are fitted, showcasing intentionally closed-off 3D‑printed wheel cover designs, which gives the wheels a muscular appearance and creates a clear visual association with loudspeakers.

The roof rack consists of three laser-cut and folded aluminium plates, complemented by an integrated stainless-steel mesh as an open surface. This construction visually references the design language of speaker covers, creating a connection between roof, side profile and overall vehicle design – turning the roof rack into an integral design element.

The vehicle as a sound system
The rear side windows have been removed and replaced by a specially-developed sound system designed specifically for outdoor sound projection, with community events in mind. At its heart is a newly developed loudspeaker housing made from cast polymer granite – a material that offers ideal conditions for precise and unadulterated sound reproduction.

Tweeters and mid-range speakers are integrated directly into the bodywork, while additional subwoofers in the rear deliver a powerful punch when the tailgate is opened. Each vehicle functions as an independent sound system – however together, both MINI Countryman show cars form a mobile stage, creating an immersive audio experience.

On the opposite side of the vehicle, a special detail can be found: an iconic Walkman integrated into a 3D‑printed housing. With a characteristic MINI sense of humour; this creates a deliberate counterpoint to the open external sound system – a personal, decelerated feeling. The combination of analogue nostalgia and contemporary construction underlines the experimental character of the entire concept.

MINI Individualization by Vagabund
Through Vagabund, the MINI Countryman becomes a moving platform for encounters and cultural exchange. The vehicles create community moments where people come together and enable experiences that go beyond the thrill of driving.

Vagabund is renowned for its expertise in rethinking existing products via visual transformations. The two one-off vehicles demonstrate how creative power lies in form, function and attention to detail. MINI and Vagabund share this approach: individuality instead of convention, craftsmanship instead of overbearing aesthetics, community instead of distance.

The MINI x Vagabund collaboration shows how MINI carries its historic commitment to individualization into the future: bold design interpretations, culture-driven themes (such as music), cultural leaders and community, combined with a high level of craftsmanship. The result is inspiring one-off examples that showcase the MINI Countryman in new and elevated ways. MINI will present one of the two one-off vehicles to the public for the first time at Auto China 2026 in Beijing. Asheville. The sun is shining. The foliage gleams in shades of yellow, red, and orange. Right in the middle, the MINI John Cooper Works in the exterior colour Ocean Wave Green. A picturesque scene, typical of the Great Smoky Mountains on the border between the US states of North Carolina and Tennessee. If it weren’t for the “Tail of the Dragon.” The US-129 is the most dangerous road in the USA: 17.7 kilometres long, with 318 bends. Every single one is a challenge for both man and machine.

The Tail of the Dragon repeatedly reveals its relentless side, effortlessly shaking off overconfident drivers. At the "Tree of Shame," located at the start of this perilous stretch of tarmac in the "Deals Gap" car park, hang the relics of mobile overestimation: bodywork parts, mirrors, wheel trims, and motorcycle fuel tanks. A challenge perfectly suited for the MINI John Cooper Works and its motorsport DNA, which is embodied in the legendary go-kart feeling.

This is also emphasized by the parameters of the high-performance model, designed for uncompromising agility. Weighing 1,330 kilograms, the MINI JCW combines firm body control with noticeable lightness. The direct steering, responsive brake pedal feel, balanced axle load distribution with short overhangs, and low centre of gravity form a dynamic unit, which reveals its full potential in demanding bends. Thus, this dangerous stretch of tarmac becomes a place of concentrated, maximum driving pleasure.

The powerful four-cylinder TwinPower Turbo petrol engine with two litres of displacement delivers 170 kW/231 hp and a maximum torque of 380 Newton metres. The MINI John Cooper Works accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. 18-inch wheels in the JCW Lap Spoke two-tone design with sports tyres ensure maximum traction even in challenging driving situations. The frequency-selective dampers with a special JCW application harmoniously resolve the demanding conflict between dynamics and comfort. The sports braking system, with 17-inch brake discs at the front and 16-inch discs at the rear, provides reliable deceleration when approaching corners.

The camber angle at the front axle is increased by 30 arc minutes (0° 30') compared to the MINI Cooper C and MINI Cooper S, allowing for higher cornering speeds. Fast gear changes of the dual-clutch sport automatic transmission enable clean acceleration out of tight bends. In the MINI John Cooper Works models, this is further refined by the manual use of the two shift paddles. JCW sports seats guarantee secure lateral support even on demanding road sections. Thanks to the exclusive "John Cooper Works" driving mode with live displays of torque, G-forces, and current engine output, drivers always have all relevant data in view.

The clearly designed cockpit is structured by the JCW sports steering wheel, the high-resolution OLED display, and the MINI-typical toggle switch strip. The central instrument, with a premium glass surface and a diameter of 240 millimetres, constantly provides all relevant vehicle data and can be conveniently operated by both driver and front passenger. The interior also exudes sportiness in every fibre. The knitted surface of the dashboard, with its black and red pattern, recalls the motorsport heritage of the MINI John Cooper Works. The standard Harman Kardon sound system further intensifies the driving experience.

The exterior emphasizes the sporting ambitions of the MINI John Cooper Works. The Ocean Wave Green paintwork, paired with the black roof and black mirror caps, makes the MINI a head-turner in any environment. The John Cooper Works bodykit, with aerodynamically optimised components such as the front splitter, rear spoiler, and rear diffuser, not only gives the MINI John Cooper Works a dynamic appearance but also generates downforce and further enhances driving dynamics. MINI LED headlights with horizontal JCW-specific daytime running lights ensure a distinctive presence. The rear view is characterised by the aerodynamically shaped rear spoiler and the black rear diffuser. The centrally positioned tailpipe further emphasises the character of this agile powerhouse.

Munich.  No other city has motorsport so deeply rooted in its history than Monte Carlo. MINI has endured tremendous success within the principality, particularly in 1965, when the legendary Mini Cooper S, driven by Timo Mäkinen and co-driver Paul Easter took victory at the 1965 Monte Carlo Rally. At the time, the car was praised for its innovative technology, elegant performance, and agility under extreme weather conditions which MINI has been able to replicate and modernize in the form of the new MINI 1965 Victory Edition. This new edition creates a stylish statement and maintains typical MINI craftmanship, following the foundations laid by MINIs illustrious rally history.

In the Canadian market, the MINI 1965 Victory Edition will be exclusively offered on the MINI John Cooper Works model. It is equipped with a 2.0 litre TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder engine and has an impressive 228 hp and a maximum 280 lb-ft of torque. It sprints from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 6.1 seconds.

Exterior: a perfect blend of vintage and modern design.
In homage to the legendary motorsports colors of the 1960s, the 1965 Victory Edition impresses in Chili Red exterior paintwork, which is accentuated by a white trim stripe extending from bonnet to the roof and rear, enhancing the vehicle’s sportiness even further. As an exclusive trademark of the edition, a white “52” graphic adorns both sides of the vehicle – a reference to the number of the original car displayed from 1965.

The roof and mirror caps are finished in white – not normally available on JCW models - which provides an athletic and elegant contrast to the Chili Red body. The subtle “1965” sticker on the C-pillar catches the eye and gracefully emphasizes the historic year of victory. The 18-inch alloy wheels in the JCW Lap Spoke 2-tone design not only give the vehicle a dynamic appearance but also ensure optimum performance and safe handling on a wide variety of road surfaces. Based on rally sport, floating centre wheel caps and unique valve stem caps are painted in the specific colour scheme and set additional sporty accents. 

Interior: sportiness and comfort combined.
On entering the vehicle, the striking door sills showcase a white “1965” on a red and black background, immediately catching the eye and bestowing the cockpit with an exclusive look. In addition, each vehicle features a dedication on the door jamb reflecting information about the bygone rally.

The interior is based on the traditional JCW colour palette and the familiar JCW-Trim. Finished in a racy anthracite and red, this combination creates an elegant blend while also providing a sporty contrast to the vehicle’s exterior paintwork. The edition-specific details have been carefully selected to create a harmonious overall effect. The 6 o’clock spoke of the sports steering wheel and the storage box in the centre of the console feature the “1965”-lettering and thus become a subtle but impactful reference to the rich tradition of MINI motorsports history. The racing number of the victorious Cooper S from 1965 adorns the key cap of the exclusive edition, making it a daily symbol of this historical success.

The MINI 1965 Victory Edition will be limited to 45 units in Canada in a single, well-equipped specification for $55,200 CAD and is expected to arrive at MINI Retailers in Canada in late Q1 2026 / early Q2 2026.

Richmond Hill, ON.  MINI Canada and the BMW Group University are proud to announce the winners of the MINI Walk-Around Competition.  The program, hosted in collaboration by the beloved MINI brand and BMW Group Canada’s University team, was designed to showcase the spirit and expertise that make MINI stand apart from all other automotive brands.  The program invited sales advisors from across the country to compete for prizes and bragging rights as Canada’s top Product Walk-Around Advisor.

The initial phase of the competition required participants to submit a video demonstrating their mastery of the all-new digital OS9 interface featured in the latest MINI models — including the industry-first circular OLED screen. From the initial group of 50 submissions, eight moved on to the in-person product walk-around at MINI Canada’s Richmond Hill, Ontario headquarters in November.  Here, contestants demonstrated their MINI knowledge and – perhaps more importantly – their ability to personalize the MINI experience for the specific customer they were presenting to.

“The video submissions reinforced for us just how amazing our retail partners are,” said Patrick Clancy, director, MINI Canada.  “Part of our goal with this contest was to ensure that the sales teams nationwide are well-equipped from a product standpoint.  What it taught us is that they’re not only well-equipped at walking people through our unique digital user experience, but they’re excelling at providing a premium experience while keeping MINI’s fun personality alive in showrooms.  It was great to see the retail network at its best like this.”

MINI Canada recently named the winners of the MINI Walk-Around Competition.  Topping the list was Alex Ushchapovskyi from MINI Toronto.  As the top performer, Ushchapovskyi won a MINI Life experience, including a two-night stay at a Drake property, a premium concert experience for two and more…including the coveted MINI Walk-Around trophy.  Runners up Hanna Graves from MINI Moncton and Kyle McDonald from MINI Langley earned prizes and bragging rights, as well.

Munich. The new MINI Paul Smith Edition combines MINI´s iconic design with Paul Smith´s famous design language “Classic with a Twist”. This special edition for the entire MINI Cooper family captivates with its unique look. The appearance and details of the vehicles not only showcase Paul Smith´s unmistakable style, but also the playful, optimistic and independent spirit of MINI.

The fully electric MINI Cooper Paul Smith Edition is the first model of the new edition to hit the roads: With its 218 hp (160 kW) front-wheel drive, the MINI Cooper SE Paul Smith Edition combines unique design with locally emission- free driving fun. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds.

Exterior: sporty accents with iconic styling

The MINI Cooper SE Paul Smith Edition in Midnight Black gives the 3-door model a more classic look. The roof, also in black, attracts attention with its interpretation of the famous Paul Smith signature stripes. Instead of the familiar colours, glossy and matt black stripes.

The MINI Cooper S Paul Smith Edition features another colour developed especially for this edition: Inspired White. The roof in exclusive Nottingham Green ensures an unmistakable look and adds a fresh contrast to the external paintwork. The roof edge on the driver´s side is a real eye-catcher thanks to the colourful Paul Smith signature stripes.

Additionally, to these two exterior colours, all models in the MINI Paul Smith Edition are available in the exclusive colour, Statement Grey.

In contrast to the three body colours, Nottingham Green, inspired by the British designer´s hometown, adorns the side mirrors, octagonal radiator grille and wheel hub caps with Paul Smith lettering for all colour variants.  

The 18-inch Night Flash Spoke Black alloy wheels with tinted clear coat in Dark Steel give the MINI Paul Smith Edition a dynamic look.

Interior: British humour and creative details

The interior, which is the same in all variants, features Nightshade Blue seats and black knitted surfaces with tone-on-tone striped patterns, exuding understated British elegance. Once the car door is opened, a light projection welcomes the driver with a friendly “Hello”. This welcome is complemented by Paul Smith´s central message “Every day is a new beginning” on the door sill. Another creative interior centrepiece is the textile band on the 6 o´clock spoke of the sports steering wheel in Paul Smith´s signature stripes – a characteristic design feature that underlines the British designer’s unmistakable style. A hand-drawn graphic of his trademark “rabbit” adorns the floor mat, emphasizing the brit´s sense of humour and complementing the interior design in a stylish way.

The fully electric MINI Cooper Paul Smith Edition is already available in select markets.

Munich. The MINI brand looks back on an extremely successful 2025. With a total volume of 288,290 vehicles, MINI achieved a significant sales increase of 17,7% compared to 2024 figures. Particularly impressive is the high demand for battery electric vehicles (BEVs): with 105,535 fully electric MINIs delivered in 2025 (+87,9%), the brand achieved a new record in electromobility, resulting in more than every third MINI sold worldwide being electric. In many markets, the share is significantly above 50%, such as Netherlands, Turkey, Sweden and China.

Jean-Philippe Parain, Head of the MINI brand, emphasizes: “MINI continuously increases the share of fully electric vehicles, thereby demonstrating its innovative strength and future orientation. Our strong volume growth across all regions in 2025 clearly reflects the exceptional appeal of the MINI model family. The updated iconic design, the sportiness, individuality and expanded electric offerings of the MINI brand have met customer expectations all around the globe.

A growth driver was the largest MINI model in the product portfolio, the MINI Countryman: with a 32,4 % share of the total MINI volume, it underlines the brand’s SUV expertise. The Countryman combines typical MINI driving pleasure with innovative design and high versatility – ideal for any outdoor challenge. In 2025, 93,305 units were sold worldwide (+15.2%); the fully electric Countryman achieved a sales growth of 81.8% compared to 2024.

Sub-brand John Cooper Works reaches record numbers

The sporty John Cooper Works (JCW) sub-brand also set new standards in 2025: with 25,630 units sold, MINI JCW increased the sales volume by 59.5% and achieved a new sales record. The share of JCW vehicles reached 8.9% of the total MINI volume. In some markets, such as UK, Italy, Japan and Australia, the performance-enhanced MINI models reached their highest sales figures to date.

The MINI Cooper family

The traditional MINI Cooper family, consisting of the MINI Cooper 3-Door, the MINI Cooper 5-Door and the MINI Convertible, recorded with 162,789 a sales increase of 10.3% compared to the previous year. The new generation of the MINI Cooper Convertible, only introduced in 2025, rounded off the model family with unique features. With 22,491 units sold, a sales growth of 18.4% was achieved. The MINI Cooper 5-Door impresses with typical brand-specific driving fun, increased space, and high functionality and recorded with 47,850 units a significant growth of 26.5% compared to 2024.

2026 starts with the new MINI Paul Smith Edition

Starting in 2026, the MINI Cooper 3-Door, MINI Cooper 5-Door, and MINI Cooper Convertible – both electric and combustion engine versions – will be available in the new MINI Paul Smith Edition. This edition combines the unmistakable style of the British designer Paul Smith with the playful, optimistic and independent spirit of the MINI brand. Following the successful collaborations “MINI STRIP” (2021) and “MINI Recharged by Paul Smith” (2022), Paul Smith now brings his world-famous design language “Classic with a twist” into the MINI family once again.

Following the MINI STRIP in 2021 and the MINI Recharged by Paul Smith in 2022, the British designer is now bringing his world-famous design language – ‘Classic with a twist’ – to the new MINI family. Whether electric or combustion engine, the edition will be available for all MINI Cooper 3-door, 5-door and Convertible models, with the exception of the John Cooper Works models. The look and details not only show Paul Smith’s signature style — but also the brands playful, optimistic and independent spirit. The MINI Paul Smith Edition celebrates its world premiere on October 29 at Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo.

Unmistakable look with a British twist.
Combining MINI design with Paul Smith’s distinctive style: Exclusive exterior colours, sophisticated accents and unexpected details bring the shared history of MINI and Paul Smith into the present.

The MINI Paul Smith Edition offers a choice of three exterior paint finishes, two of which are edition-exclusive: Statement Grey is a modern interpretation of the classic Mini Austin Seven colour from 1959 – a clear, bluish-tinted grey shade and self-confident statement of timeless modernity. Inspired White is a contemporary homage to the popular Classic Mini Beige colour, and finally the elegant and classic Midnight Black Metallic from the current MINI Family.

Regardless of the body colour, the specially created Nottingham Green paintwork – a tribute to Sir Paul's hometown – adds sophisticated accents to the side mirrors, the octagonal radiator grille, the wheel hub covers with Paul Smith lettering and as the paintwork for one of the two roof variants.

In addition to the colour variants, numerous details characterise Paul Smith's signature and make the MINI Paul Smith Edition unmistakable: The ‘Signature Stripe’, a central design feature of the British designer, adorns the roof in Nottingham Green at the rear of the driver's side. The alternative version of the roof features elegant stripes in Jet Black in varying thickness, both matte and glossy. The MINI Cooper Convertible Paul Smith Edition is supplied with a black soft top.

All edition vehicles are equipped with 18-inch Night Flash Spoke black aluminium wheels with tinted clear coat in Dark Steel. The MINI logo at the front and rear is offered in newly designed Black Blue and complements the colour composition of Paul Smith and MINI. On the black horizontal handle strip at the rear, Paul Smith's signature refers to the creative spirit behind the vehicle design.

British restraint and elegance in the interior.

British character is also reflected in the interior with numerous components featuring a modern, elegant look. The knitted surfaces on the dashboard and door panels appear in black, while Paul Smith fabrics in tone-on-tone stripe patterns serve as inspiration for the special structure of the dashboard. The Nightshade Blue sports seats are made of Vescin and have knitted textile in the shoulder and headrest areas. Drawn from the Signature Stripe, the decorative stitching on the steering wheel's textile band is designed in bright colours - quintessentially Paul Smith.

The round display in the centre of the cockpit also appears with one of three different Paul Smith backgrounds when Personal Mode is selected. Small hidden details underline the British design influence - but also the playful character of the designer: when the door is opened, the driver and front passenger are greeted with a handwritten ‘Hello’ as a light projection on the floor and Smith's motto ‘Every day is a new beginning’ on the door sill, reflecting the positive mindset of both brands.  A graphic of a stylized ‘rabbit’ hand-drawn by Paul Smith on the floor mat complete the interior details.

A collaboration that blends British heritage, bold creativity and contemporary sophistication.
MINI and Sir Paul Smith: two icons that are not only linked by their British heritage but also look back on exclusive collaborations resulting in unique styling. Their joint creative success story began in 1998, when the designer created a limited edition of the classic Mini: a specially created blue colour and matching anthracite-coloured alloy wheels lent the iconic model the signature of Paul Smith.

To mark the 40th birthday of the classic MINI in 1999, the fashion designer dipped an exclusive one-off in his characteristic stripe design, using 86 stripes in 26 colours.

In 2021, the MINI STRIP celebrated its world premiere: a vehicle designed using only what Paul Smith considered absolutely necessary. The result was a customised one-off car that despite its minimalist design and in keeping with Smith's guiding principle of ‘classic with a twist’, was not without unexpected and loving details.

In 2022, Paul Smith went back to the roots of the collaboration with the MINI Recharged by Paul Smith. A classic found its way into the now: a Classic Mini from the 1998 MINI Paul Smith Edition was transformed into a modernised electric vehicle. With a focus on quality and functionality, a contemporary vehicle was created that can also be seen as a tribute to the tradition and heritage of the classic MINI.

But it is not only Sir Paul Smith who inspires MINI with creative ideas - the inspiration also works in reverse: the designer repeatedly uses MINI as a motif on exclusive pieces in his collections. MINI and Paul Smith: A creative success story.

The MINI Paul Smith Edition is a new chapter in the success story of the two British brands. The long-lasting relationship began in 1998, when the designer wrapped a Classic Mini Cooper in his trademark visual design. To mark the 40th anniversary of the Classic Mini in 1999, the designer lent his characteristic Paul Smith "Signature Stripe" to a one-off model. After two further one-offs - the MINI Strip in 2021 and the MINI Recharged by Paul Smith in 2022 - Paul Smith's design language returns to MINI.

As part of the BMW Group stand at the Japan Mobility Show, MINI is presenting the diverse range of its current product portfolio. East Sussex. ‘Always Open’ – even when the weather in the southern English coastal towns between Portsmouth and Dover is more British than sunny: in the MINI Cooper Convertible S (fuel consumption combined: 6.6 - 6.5 l/100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 150 - 148 g/km according to WLTP; CO2 class: E), it's not just sunny hours that make for a great driving experience. The Always Open Timer counts the driving time with the top down and motivates you to take a spin in the fresh air. The fully electric roof opens in just 18 seconds. With precise steering and agile handling, every bend becomes an adventure. The two-litre petrol engine with 204 hp, which sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds with a maximum torque of 300 Nm, delivers dynamic drive and sound.

Munich. With deep respect for craftsmanship, culture, and the communities that shape them, the partnership between MINI John Cooper Works and Deus Ex Machina comes to life through two customised one-off cars - rolling expressions of a lifestyle where a love of speed meets creativity and considered design. Built not just for performance, but for the people who live and breathe it.

“MINI models have always been characterized by a blend of creative design and motorsport dynamics,’ explains Stefan Richmann, Head of MINI. “Thanks to our collaboration with Deus Ex Machina, we are taking this philosophy to a new level and setting exciting new trends for fans and motorsport enthusiasts. Purist, functional and graphic design approach.
Both vehicle concepts are based on a MINI John Cooper Works model: the first, a MINI JCW Electric with up to 190 kW/258 hp, the second, a combustion engine-powered MINI JCW with 170 kW/231 hp. Each vehicles roof features a large white ‘X’, a connecting element, which signals a significant design and co-creation: the co-creation process between two iconic brands in their own right: MINI JCW x DEUS.

"In this extraordinary collaboration, we showcase two vehicles that remind us of motorsport history and successes of MINI. Every single detail has been crafted with artisanal precision and expertise. This has resulted in unique characters that are clearly perceived as belonging together through their distinctive design language and use of graphics," says Holger Hampf, Head of MINI Design.

Visible seams, striking switches and traditional levers emphasise the mechanical character of the cockpits. The materials and colours utilised throughout the vehicles create bold contrasts: a deliberate break with high gloss. Instead of perfection, authenticity is at the forefront: designers speak of a ‘raw, handcrafted approach’ that celebrates the ‘beauty of imperfection’. On the exterior, expressive graphics consisting of numbers, geometric elements and bright colours pay homage to MINIs racing history.

The MINI JCW X DEUS one-off cars.
Built as a pair - kindred in spirit, opposite in energy. One born of the coast: shaped by surfboards, sea spray, and the stripped-back rhythm of beach life. The other is forged on the track: lean, fast, and fuelled by a love of speed and precision.

The Skeg – sleek, electric, coast-bound.
The electric powered show car ‘The Skeg’ is a clean, minimal and quiet rebellion, drawing on materials, technologies and philosophies from the world of surfing: Fiberglass, acceleration and minimalism.

The vehicles bodywork lands a bold first impression in a vivid yellow and silver finish - a nod to MINI’s progressive take on electric mobility. Wide fenders, an illuminated front grille, and a roof spoiler sharpen the silhouette, while semi-transparent fiberglass panels strip 15% of the car’s weight and refine its aerodynamic performance.
At the rear, the Flex Tip Surf Spoiler responds to airflow much like a surfboard rides the contours of a wave. Its form draws from the concave underside of a board, redirecting movement, generating lift, and turning design into function.

Tension straps across the roof reference the familiar ritual of tying down a surfboard after a session, while remaining a characteristic design detail of the new MINI family, featured as an accent on the dashboard and in the 6 o'clock spoke of the steering wheel.

Custom-made fiberglass elements on the roof, front, rear, and interior create a shifting play of light: translucent, strong, and responsive to time of day and environment, while the dashboard itself borrows directly from surfboard construction: lightweight, resilient, and visually distinctive.

The Interior.
Inside, the analogue controls are stripped back - simple, tactile, and true to purpose, reflecting a surf culture that prioritises purpose over polish.
The car resembles a mobile surf shop. An example of the thoughtful functionality is the fiberglass trays for wetsuits. The specially shaped shelves provide a practical storage solution and bring the surf culture into the interior. The neoprene upholstery in the lightweight racing bucket seats – flexible, water-repellent, and comfortable – also creates a tactile connection to surfing.
The fiberglass dashboard transfers the technology of surfboard construction into the automotive sector.
The oversized ‘X’ returns as a visual anchor, while Deus Collection badges and 3D-printed details in the console serve as subtle signifiers of a shared culture - one grounded in craft, connection, and the pursuit of the ride.

The Machina - loud, low, combustion-fed.
The Machina, a John Cooper Works that packs a compact punch of raw mechanics and motorsport bloodline. Inspired by the aesthetics of motorsport, it stands for pure racing enthusiasm and authentic functionality.

The exterior: signature elements with links to the racing scene.
The exterior design pays homage to the motorsport heritage of the MINI brand. Every characteristic feature has been carefully selected with a focus on functionality and emotional appeal.

The red, white and black paintwork, complete with bold accents and Deus lettering on the rear, makes an immediate impression. Classic widened fenders nod to racing heritage, blending form and function, while four additional headlights mounted on the bonnet pay tribute to rally sport roots. Each custom-built light pod features subtle Deus branding, offering both performance and a distinctive visual signature.

At the rear, the diffuser draws inspiration from the MINI JCW race car that tore through the legendary Nordschleife. Beyond its aggressive stance, it’s designed to optimise airflow and stability, with the centrally integrated exhaust serving as both a functional and aesthetic focal point, amplifying the engine’s sound and presence.

Up front, a bespoke grille and perforated headlight surrounds enhance cooling performance, while the iconic MINI John Cooper Works light signature, complete with air intakes, anchors the car firmly in MINI’s high-performance lineage. Topping it off is a Can-Am-style rear spoiler: a bold piece of motorsport nostalgia that nods to an era when innovation in racing pushed both design and engineering to the edge.

The Interior.
Inside the JCW show car, the red, white and black palette holds strong - pared-back, purposeful, and unmistakably John Cooper Works. The 5-point racing harnesses secure the driver, and ultimately become part of the driving experience, wrapping the body in precision.

Raw aluminium floor plates offer more than grip, rather they echo the utilitarian aesthetic found in Deus’ custom motorcycle workshops from Sydney to Venice Beach to Canggu, grounding the car in a shared language of performance and craft.

Weight-saving is built into every surface, from the stripped-back door panels marked with bold white ‘X’ motifs, to the waxed fabric dash - lightweight, durable, and finished with a lived-in patina that speaks to hands-on workmanship. Overhead, the exposed roll cage adds structure and statement in equal measure - a safety feature that nods to the car’s unfiltered racing DNA.

The show car's controls speak a clear language of functionality and directness. Every switch and every button is designed to function intuitively and reliably, even under extreme conditions.

Toggle switches are classic elements – no complex menus, just direct, mechanical connections between thought and action. Each button has a clear function. A classic example, the hydraulic handbrake with its large lever, acting as a direct connection between driver and vehicle - a commitment to precision and control. The JCW show car is a driving manifesto and a tribute to the motorsport DNA of the MINI brand.

Concentrated creativity for two extraordinary designer pieces.
In collaboration with the MINI design team, BMW Group subsidiary Designworks provided creative impetus with unconventional ideas for the project. Deus’ Creative Director, Carby Tuckwell and his wider creative cohort oversaw the striking exterior graphics of the unique cars - led by Matt Willey – and complimented the work - an outcome that truly reflects extraordinary design dynamics and remarkable solutions across the two vehicles.

Deus x Matt Willey: The fascination of historic racing.
Deus’ Carby Tuckwell and Matt Willey have been working together since 2015. United by their fascination with classic motorsport liveries, they created a historic Mini Cooper S racing car in 2023 with a special paint finish designed by Willey. The design references the glorious and victorious history of the classic Mini at the Monte Carlo Rally, including the number 37, with which Paddy Hopkirk started in 1964 and achieved the British small car's first overall victory in the most famous of all rallies.

Matt Willey, a native of England who lives in Brooklyn, became a partner at the renowned design firm Pentagram after five years as art director of the New York Times Magazine.

A Shared Vision Becomes Fabric.
Woven into the partnership is a capsule MINI x Deus Ex Machina apparel collection, set to launch on September 8, 2025, at IAA in Munich, before becoming available globally via Deus Ex Machina’s e-commerce and retail network. Designed exclusively for the collaboration, the range draws on the shared DNA of both brands - precision engineering, timeless styling, and obsessive attention to detail. High-grade materials and thoughtful tailoring provide the benchmark for the range, with every garment reflecting Deus’ commitment to craftsmanship and its reputation for creating apparel that moves between lifestyle and legacy. On 26 August 1959, the British Motor Corporation unveiled the first Mini: no one could have guessed at the time what an impact the innovative concept of brilliant British engineer Alec Issigonis would have on the automotive world. Sixty-six years after the launch of the now legendary Classic Mini, the MINI brand looks back on decades of racing success, visionary innovation, groundbreaking design – and unmistakable driving pleasure.

With the relaunch of the MINI family over the past two years, the brand has once again aligned its pioneering design and historical heritage with the future: with a new, charismatic generation of the MINI Cooper and MINI Countryman, the world premiere of the MINI Aceman, the first crossover model for the premium segment, and the launch of the new MINI Convertible, MINI combines tradition and innovation in the present.

Munich. The BMW Group is now offering customers even broader scope for personalising analysis of their driving stats in the My BMW App and MINI App. The latest update allows drivers to view their personal carbon footprint for the first time.

“Our usage research shows: The information in My Trips is one of the most popular features in the app,” says Dirk Wiedmann, Senior Vice President Sales Steering and Strategy, Digitalization. “We are now expanding this successful function with carbon footprint calculation, giving our customers simple and straightforward access to sustainability-related information via a popular and widely used channel.”

Emissions from vehicle production and use: two sets of figures make up the driver’s personal footprint. 
The personal carbon footprint function has been designed with a technology-open approach and is available for vehicles with combustion engines, as well as plug-in hybrid and fully electric models. At launch, this feature will be rolled out across selected models in various European countries*. Calculation of the personal footprint is based on two central sets of figures.

• Emissions from vehicle use: My Trips analyses the routes the driver has completed and uses the energy consumed in the process to work out the CO₂ emitted. To this end, CO₂ equivalents are calculated using data from the International Energy Agency (IEA). For vehicles with combustion engines, the app calculates the amount of CO₂ emitted based on the fuel consumed. For battery-electric vehicles, it shows the emissions generated when using the average national energy mix – and also tells the driver how high emissions would be by comparison if green energy was used.
• Emissions from vehicle production: These are emissions generated during the manufacturing process. Emissions are recorded from the processing of raw materials, procurement of materials, transport logistics and the production of the model at hand. The BMW Group already sets out the emissions figures for numerous models in the form of Vehicle Footprint Reports. These are calculated according to recognised standards for life cycle assessments and certified by the TÜV Rheinland agency. They can also be downloaded from the BMW Group website.

Ready for electric mobility: My BMW App helps with the transition.

The My BMW App also includes the Electric Vehicle Analysis introduced last summer. This function allows customers whose BMW is powered by a combustion engine to simulate how well a fully electric BMW fits their personal driving profile. Here, the customer selects an electric BMW model as an alternative vehicle in the app. Once the combustion-engined model has made at least 200 journeys and covered a distance of 2,000 kilometres (over 1,240 miles), the analysis shows the journeys the user could have completed on a single charge with the electric vehicle selected, and also flags up charging stations close to frequently visited destinations. More than 100,000 customers had used this analysis by May 2025.

Over 14 million customers around the world use the My BMW App and MINI App. The My Trips function is available in more than 90 countries and is actively used by 1.9 million users.

* The new function is available to users of vehicles for which a TÜV-certified carbon footprint has been calculated. Nürburg. Sensational result for MINI John Cooper Works and Bulldog Racing at the 24 hours of  Nürburgring: at the end of an exciting race weekend, the team achieved second place in the SP3T class - behind the BMW M2 Racing.

With 111 laps and over 2,700 kilometers completed over a 24-hour period, the crew impressively demonstrated the engineering skills of the MINI brand - and showed real team spirit in one of the toughest challenges in motor racing.

Following last year's class victory and second place in 2023, this is the third podium finish in a row for the MINI John Cooper Works and Bulldog Racing team in the highly competitive SP3T class.

The cockpit team of Samantha Tan (CAN), Toby Goodman (GBR), Sebastian Sauerbrei (GER) and Markus Fischer (AUT) in the MINI John Cooper Works not only proved their driving skills and stamina in the “Green Hell” - but also real nerves of steel: After a successful start, the 24-hour race had to be interrupted on Saturday afternoon due to a power failure: The restart only took place after around two hours at 7:45 pm. With full focus, the driver team continued the race through the shortest night of the year - and made up over 60 places in the overall standings over the course of the race.

As in the previous year, Markus Fischer drove the team's fastest lap. With a strong lap time of 10:02, he was even able to beat last year's fastest lap. It was the first 24 hours of Nürburgring for Samantha Tan and Toby Goodman - and a successful premiere with second place in the SP3T class.

It was not only with sensational lap times and impressive endurance that the MINI 24-hour race car earned the respect of competitors and spectators at the Nürburgring: thanks to its exterior skin designed exclusively with the fashion and lifestyle brand Deus Ex Machina, the MINI John Cooper Works was a highlight of the race weekend even before the start.

280,000 fans cheered on the teams at the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring - a new record. This makes the race one of the most popular motorsport events in the world again this year. There was also a lot of action off the track: some racing enthusiasts stayed up late into the night with the teams and celebrated the drivers at the 53rd edition of the legendary Eifel classic - around the clock.

Even before the port city of Cannes rolls out the red carpet for the annual film festival in May and holidaymakers populate the beaches in the summer months, the first rays of sunshine awaken the French Riviera from its winter slumber early in the year.
The MINI John Cooper Works Convertible (combined fuel consumption: 7.1 – 6.8/100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 161 - 155 g/km according to WLTP) turns the impressive Mediterranean landscape into a backdrop for motorsport feeling in the open air. A powerful 2.0-litre four-cylinder twin-turbo petrol engine with a displacement of 1,998 cc gives the MINI John Cooper Works Convertible its sporty drive. With an output of 231 hp (170 kW) and a maximum torque of 380 Nm, the engine offers impressive driving dynamics and accelerates the model from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.4 seconds, reaching a top speed of 245 km/h. The 7-speed automatic transmission with dual clutch enables fast gear changes for even more forward momentum. Shift paddles on the steering wheel allow the driver to change gear with individual precision without having to take their hands off the wheel.
The soft top is available in black or with a grey Union Jack pattern. It can be fully opened in just 18 seconds and at speeds of up to 30 km/h. In addition, the soft top can be opened to a length of 40 cm like a sunroof at any speed: This offers the driver and passengers an additional, exclusive option for open-air driving. The windscreen reduces unwanted air turbulence and wind noise in just a few simple steps for relaxed open-air driving pleasure at all times. With the practical and playful Always Open Timer, the OLED display in the cockpit shows how many hours you have been driving with the roof open.

The MINI John Cooper Works Convertible also stands out on the lively promenades of the region's hotspots thanks to its striking appearance. Air intakes and mirror caps in Chilli Red add sporty highlights to the classic British Racing Green paintwork. The front grille and side skirts in high-gloss black and the MINI LED headlights with horizontal daytime running lights in the JCW signature ensure a purist look. Exclusively on the MINI John Cooper Works Convertible, the rear diffuser is painted in body colour, continuing the consistent design language. Sporty bonnet stripes emphasize this: The MINI John Cooper Works Convertible is clearly part of the brand's racing tradition.
The consistent design is also continued in the interior: JCW sports seats in red and black guarantee optimum support, while the sports steering wheel in JCW design gives the driver precise control and a racing look. With the exclusive Harman Kardon surround sound system fitted as standard, every journey has its own sonorous soundtrack. The clearly designed cockpit with the high-resolution OLED display as the central instrument provides an overview of all relevant vehicle data at all times. The climate, media, telephone and navigation settings, among others, can be operated intuitively via touch or voice control.

Assistance systems for driving pleasure and personal style.
Advanced assistance systems in the MINI John Cooper Works Convertible combine driving pleasure with safety and comfort. Twelve ultrasonic sensors and four surround view cameras take the strain off the driver when navigating safely, making it easier to concentrate on the essentials - the ‘Always Open’ feeling in the convertible.
Seven MINI Experience Modes create a suitable ambience for every mood in the interior: while the Go-kart Mode for sporty driving, for example, emphasizes the racing character with matching analogue displays and a red and black look, the Green Mode optimizes fuel consumption and emissions for relaxed cruising with the top down.

The MINI Cooper Convertible is the perfect companion for open-air driving adventures. The fully electric roof, which opens in just 18 seconds even at speeds of up to 30 km/h, enables a summery open-air feeling while driving. Innovative assistance systems provide additional safety:The Driving Assistant Plus package includes an additional Steering and Lane Assistant to support the driver. The Professional Parking Assistant uses cameras and ultrasonic sensors to identify free parking spaces and can initiate parking maneuvers automatically.

The newly designed MINI navigation with 3D visualization and augmented view brings driver and passenger to their destination stress-free - even in the urban jungle of New York City.

Munich. MINI John Cooper Works will compete again at this year's 53rd edition of the 24 Hours race at the Nürburgring. Last year, MINI achieved a spectacular triumph in the SP-3T class of the race with the near-production #317 MINI John Cooper Works Pro. The so-called "Green Hell" offers one of the toughest tests in motorsport with fast straights, demanding curves, and significant elevation changes. The successful cooperation with the Bulldog Racing Team will also continue this year.

MINI x DEUS: Spectacular Appearance.
At the starting line of this year's race, the MINI John Cooper Works will attract attention with a specially designed livery, while the Bulldog Racing Team will be exclusively dressed in the brands new season collection. The partnership is a glimpse into something the two brands MINI x DEUS are building toward.

Racing DNA meets exclusive design.
For this year's 24 Hours race at the Nürburgring, the high-performance orientation of MINI John Cooper Works is combined with the passion and craftsmanship of Deus Ex Machina. The design team has pursued a consistent black and white approach in the design of the vehicle livery. The enlarged "DEUS" logo dominates the design as a graphic element and becomes more than just a wordmark. The unconventional, playful handling of the brand presence is typical of DEUS and gives the MINI 24 Hours race car its visual identity this year. The reduced black and white color scheme ensures that additional elements such as starting numbers or team logos are harmoniously integrated into the overall image. Hand-drawn logos on windows and other surfaces underline the raw, conceptual character of the race car, making it appear like a "moving sketchbook". This is intended to suggest that the Nürburgring 24 Hours race car is just a foretaste. It is the perfect first milestone in the MINI x DEUS cooperation.

For the design of the race car livery, MINI Design collaborated with Designworks. The BMW Group subsidiary has elaborated the creative idea of DEUS in detail. "Successful brand collaborations arise when partners inspire and drive each other forward. With DEUS, MINI and Designworks, we were able to unleash a remarkable design dynamic. The DEUS livery of the MINI John Cooper Works at the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring is just the first proof of this," says Holger Hampf, Head of MINI Design.

MINI Continues Its Racing Heritage.
With its appearance, MINI is continuing its long-standing racing heritage. The brand has been considered an underdog in motorsports from the very beginning - and yet it has written motorsport history. The 1964 Monte Carlo Rally became a shining moment for the British Outsider. Thanks to its well-thought-out proportions and the efficient two-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, the MINI Cooper S 5-Door knows no bounds. Compared to the 3-Door model, the 5-Door offers more spacious accommodation with increased storage space and legroom due to the additional 172 mm in length. The two additional doors make it easier for rear passengers to get in and out, as well as loading and unloading the vehicle. The 60:40 split-folding rear seats increase the boot volume from 275 to 925 litres. With compact exterior dimensions and short overhangs, the 5-Door has a perfect turning circle of 11.4 metres, making it an ideal companion for exploring narrow alleyways.

With the help of the four-cylinder engine with 150 kW/204 HP, the MINI Cooper S 5-Door reaches a top speed of 242 km/h.

The Open-Top Four-Seater attracts all eyes and delights with its agile handling and expressive highlights. While clearly defined surfaces and fresh accents in the exterior characterise the puristic design of the MINI Cooper Convertible. Classic design features such as the round LED headlights with three optional light signatures and redesigned front grille give the model the typical MINI face in a modern interpretation.
The MINI Cooper Convertible is equipped with a suspension and damping system which is tuned for agile handling. In combination with the precise, brand-typical steering, drives on the winding coastal roads can be enjoyed.

Richmond Hill, ON.  MINI Canada is bringing the beloved brand to life at the Canadian International Auto Show with an entirely new line-up and interactive experiences that will entertain the whole family.  Not only will visitors be able to touch and feel the all-new generation of MINI models, but they will also be able to test drive them on the roads around the show and in vintage-style video game format from February 14th to 23rd at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

Munich. The largest model in the brand's range impresses with its increased space, high level of comfort, attractive design and innovative technologies. The European Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) has now confirmed the all-rounder's particularly high level of safety. Manufactured in Leipzig, the MINI Countryman stood out in the demanding test procedure thanks to its excellent occupant protection in various types of collision, effective protection for pedestrians and cyclists, as well as effective accident avoidance systems.

The extensive range of safety-related driver assistance systems fitted as standard also contributed to the top rating. Above all, the latest generation of front collision warning with braking function provides an additional plus in safety in urban traffic. It can now also detect pedestrians and cyclists approaching parallel to the lane from behind or in front when turning, effectively helping to avoid a collision with weaker road users. The system also warns of oncoming traffic when turning.

The MINI Countryman also scores highly in terms of passive safety with innovative systems. The standard centre airbag between the driver and front passenger seats was rated as highly effective.

The compact crossover model scored maximum points in the frontal offset test and the side barrier impact test for the protection of children. 

The integrated safety concept provides a high level of protection against injury at all times. According to Euro NCAP, the seats and head restraints in the front and rear seats offer good protection against cervical injuries that can occur in a rear impact. The testers also emphasised the emergency braking system to prevent secondary collisions and the intelligent emergency call.

Active engine compartment lids help to reduce the risk of injury to pedestrians and cyclists. The system proved to be reliable and effective at different speeds in the Euro NCAP safety test.

The ratings of the Euro NCAP testing institute are a benchmark for accident safety recognised Europe-wide and the safety level is being raised constantly. Only new vehicles that offer excellent impact protection and are also well equipped with comprehensive and practical technology for accident avoidance receive the highest rating of 5 stars.

Munich. With impressive driving characteristics and legendary go-kart feeling, the new top-performance models from MINI continue the legacy of racing legend John Cooper. A four-cylinder TwinPower Turbo petrol engine with two litres of capacity emphasises the powerful sportiness of the new MINI John Cooper Works models. 170 kW/231 hp of power with 380 Nm of maximum torque are available in both the MINI John Cooper Works (fuel consumption combined: 6.8 – 6.5 l/100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 154 - 147 g/km according to WLTP) as well as in the MINI John Cooper Works Convertible (combined fuel consumption: 7.1 – 6.8/100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 161 - 155 g/km according to WLTP) and provide extremely sporty driving fun. This gives the MINI John Cooper Works 6.1 seconds and the MINI John Cooper Works convertible 6.4 seconds to sprint from standstill to 100 km/h. The MINI John Cooper Works reaches 250 km/h and the MINI John Cooper Works convertible at 245 km/h.

A sporty dual clutch automatic transmission enables quick gear shifts for dynamic acceleration. Using the two paddle shifters on the left and right of the steering wheel, the motorsport character of the new MINI John Cooper Works models can be experienced particularly intensely. The specific suspension settings guarantee a go-kart feeling combined with agile handling. The brake system in Chilli Red with JCW logo ensures precise and safe braking even in demanding driving situations.

The MINI brand was shaped by a passion for top performance then and now. Just this year, at the Nürburgring 24-hour race, a prototype based on the new MINI John Cooper Works won its class.

A purist design for a performance full of character.
The large octagonal front grille in high-gloss black with the three-colour John Cooper Works logo and wide air vents dominates the front view of the new MINI John Cooper Works models. For optimum engine temperature control and improved aerodynamics, there are additional air inlets with vertical reflectors in red. Optional red or black bonnet stripes on the bonnet with a black MINI logo accentuate the sporty design with racing tradition. MINI LED headlamps with horizontal JCW specific daytime running lights make for a distinctive appearance. The rear view is characterized by the aerodynamically shaped rear spoiler and the black rear diffuser. The centrally positioned tailpipe further underlines the spirited character of the power pack. Exclusive rim designs in sizes 17 inches and 18 inches round off the extremely sporty exterior design.

Eleven expressive body colours for the new MINI John Cooper Works can optionally be accentuated with a contrasting roof and mirror caps in the colours Chili Red or Jetblack. An exclusive exterior paint finish in Copper Grey is also available for the MINI John Cooper Works Convertible. The soft top is available in black or with a contrasting grey Union Jack pattern. It retracts completely in just 18 seconds at speeds of up to 30 km/h, allowing unlimited open-air driving fun. A switch can be used to open the soft top 40 cm at any speed like a sliding roof. The wind deflector reduces unwanted air turbulence and wind noise while driving and can be easily locked in place behind the driver and passenger seats.

Race-inspired interior.
The purist design of the interior is based on the typical JCW colour scheme of red and black. The JCW sports seats provide firm support for dynamic driving. The seats are upholstered in black synthetic leather with multicoloured knitted fabric at the shoulders and red accent stitching.
The JCW sports steering wheel with textile six-o-clock spoke and shift paddles provides precise control in all driving situations. A knitted surface on the dashboard brings the racing history of MINI John Cooper Works into the cockpit with its black and red pattern. The emotional driving experience is enhanced by the exclusive Harman Kardon sound system as standard.

The clearly designed cockpit is structured by the JCW sports steering wheel, the high-resolution OLED display and the typical MINI toggle bar. With a diameter of 240 mm, the new central instrument with a high-quality glass surface provides relevant information at any time and can be easily operated by the driver and passenger. Additional options for climate, media, telephone and navigation settings can be controlled via touch or voice control. This creates additional space in the center console for storage on which smartphones can be charged via wireless charging.

The Go-Kart mode is a perfect match for the new John Cooper Works models. With this MINI Experience Mode, the cockpit ambiance is completely tailored to performance and motorsport flair. In this mode, the display shows the driver not only the speed but also other performance-related data such as torque, the power retrieved in kW and the current g-force.

Comprehensive assistance systems for safe driving.
The advanced assistance systems in the MINI John Cooper Works and MINI John Cooper Works Convertible support the driver in a wide range of traffic situations. Twelve ultrasonic sensors and four surround view cameras enable the digital assistance systems to take over recurring driving manoeuvres independently. For example, automatic speed and distance control makes urban driving easier. At higher speeds, Driving Assistant Plus can assist the driver with steering and lane keeping. The newly designed MINI Navigation makes orientation easier thanks to 3D visualisation and Augmented View. The display of the current traffic situation on the virtual map, information on parking facilities including digital payment options and much more make it easier to explore new places. Parking Assistant Plus can even find a parking space for you. Equipped in this way, the MINI John Cooper Works models combine dynamic driving fun with safe comfort and provide special emotions at all times.

MINI presents the new convertible model that perfectly embodies the brand's openness. "Always Open" - this traditional claim of the MINI Convertible aptly describes the model’s philosophy. The folding roof opens fully automatically in just 18 seconds, allowing the driver to enjoy the breeze and sunshine at all times. Whether in the city, on country roads or on the highway, the MINI Convertible offers pure freedom and unmistakable driving pleasure.

The open-top four-seater combines space-saving proportions with fascinating open-air driving fun. With the MINI Cooper Convertible, one of the most emotional models in the new MINI family returns to the MINI plant in Oxford - the home of the British premium brand.

For an extra dose of sunshine, the fully automatic soft top can be opened in two ways: either like a sunroof or fully retracted. This is still unique in the premium small car segment. The soft top disappears behind the rear seats to save space and can also be conveniently stowed in the luggage compartment when folded down.

In the new MINI Cooper Convertible, open-air fans can enjoy every moment, even with the soft top folded back. MINI is using the Always Open Timer again for exactly this purpose. On the OLED display of the central instrument, this shows the open travel time traveled by the minute and thus offers fresh air fans a dose of playful ease.

Three efficient four-cylinder petrol engines deliver the brand's signature go-kart feel with an impressive engine sound. Like the new MINI Cooper, the convertible is available in C and S versions as well as in performance-oriented version. 

The design emphasises the character of the new MINI Cooper Convertible with clean surfaces and accentuated details. Round LED headlights and a redesigned front grille emphasise the model's charismatic appearance with classic design features in a modern interpretation. A variety of exterior and interior paint finishes and fresh accents lend the new Convertible the brand's signature design highlights. Three vehicle trims offer additional options for customising the MINI Cooper Convertible.

The fully automatic soft top can be activated at the touch of a button and can also be fully retracted at speeds of up to 30 km/h. When the roof is closed, the sunroof function can be used at any time with an opening length of up to 40 centimetres. A wind deflector between the cockpit and the rear optimises airflow for a carefree open-air feeling at all four seats. Innovative driver assistance systems make driving the MINI Cooper Convertible even safer and more comfortable. A significant increase in digital technologies creates new possibilities for personalising the interior and simplifies the use of smartphones and apps. 

The exterior. Charismatic convertible with purist design.
Compact proportions, short overhangs and now bigger 620 mm diameter wheels give the MINI Cooper Convertible plenty of agility and manoeuvrability for maximum driving fun. With its focused expression, the front end signals openness and shapes the charismatic character of the new MINI Cooper Convertible with high recognition value. Newly designed exterior details enhance the striking appearance of the model, which is unique in the premium small car segment.

The shoulder line continues into the lower part of the black soft top. This separates the surrounding window area from the cleanly designed body. This three-part exterior is typical of the brand. It makes the MINI Cooper Convertible an unmistakable original. The woven fabric soft top is available in black and optional with a grey Union Jack, a nod to the brand's British origins.

Hallmark design with expressive highlights.
The front end of the MINI Cooper Convertible shows the typical face of the brand with its iconic round headlights and the newly designed front grille. The octagonal-shaped surround encompasses the wide air inlets in either Vibrant Silver or high-gloss Jet Black.

Standard LED headlights with light signatures are available in three versions to emphasise the car's character. A specially orchestrated welcome and goodbye animation with MINI logo projections on the floor of the driver's and passenger's side enhances the emotional connection to the MINI Cooper Convertible even before you get in.

From the side, the clean lines of the sporty body are characterised by the striking contrast between the short overhangs and the long wheelbase. The reduced design of the body emphasises the elegant impression of the vehicle's silhouette and gives the MINI Cooper Convertible a generous appearance despite its small exterior dimensions of 3,879 mm in length, 1,431 mm in height and 1,744 mm in width. To match the unmistakable driving fun, the new MINI Convertible is available with aerodynamically optimised wheel designs in sizes ranging from 16 to 18 inches, depending on the model variant.

The rear view is characterised by the flush design of the vertically aligned LED rear lights. The rear section is divided by a black handle strip with striking model badge, whose horizontal alignment emphasises the MINI Cooper Convertible's wide stance.

Fully automatic fabric soft top for safe driving fun.
The high-quality soft top protects the occupants in all weathers. Thanks to its electric and extremely quiet drive, the folding roof can be fully opened in 18 seconds, even at speeds of up to 30 km/h. At the same time, the window bars and side windows are lowered to provide a completely unobstructed view of the surroundings. The soft top closes in 15 seconds at the touch of a button. For fresh air at all times, the sunroof can be opened to a length of 40 centimetres, regardless of speed. 

Concealed behind the headrests at the rear of the MINI Cooper Convertible, the integrated rollover protection system is activated automatically as soon as the central safety electronics detect a risk of rollover.

When the soft top is open, the MINI Cooper Convertible has a luggage compartment volume of 160 litres thanks to a particularly space-saving folding system for the soft top, when the soft top is closed, this expands to 215 liters. To maximise the loading height of the luggage compartment, the storage area behind the rear seats can be raised using two locking handles. The tailgate opens downwards to facilitate loading, demonstrating once again the versatility of the MINI Cooper Convertible. The wind deflector behind the driver and passenger seats can be easily locked in place. It reduces wind noise and unwanted air turbulence when driving with the roof open.

A dozen body finishes and three individual trims.
Twelve paint finishes are available for the new MINI Cooper Convertible, including the exclusive and elegant Copper Grey. Optional mirror caps in Jet Black and Glazed White make a strong statement. Three different trims further enhance the Convertible's sporty-elegant individuality. The Classic Trim features a black-trimmed front grille for maximum clarity. The Favoured Trim front grille version is in Vibrant Silver grille with a choice of 17-inch or 18-inch wheels.

The JCW Trim gives the MINI Cooper Convertible an extremely sporty appearance. This equipment variant inspired by motorsports has its very own distinctive front and rear design. The front grille surround and JCW logo are finished in high-gloss black. The rear section is muscular in shape and the all-round trim is finished in high-gloss black.

The interior. Minimalist, open feel that makes you feel at home.
The interior design of the new MINI Cooper Convertible focuses on minimalist details and textile surfaces. This is part of the new "Charismatic Simplicity" design language of the entire MINI family with fewer components, clever design and high-quality workmanship. Three key elements structure the cockpit: A sporty steering wheel, the central OLED display and the classic, newly designed toggle switch bar.

Directly behind the steering wheel, the Head-up Display projects all relevant information into the driver's field of vision. This means that the dashboard on the driver's side does not require an additional instrument panel and, in keeping with the open-top driving fun, allows a clear view to the front.  The textile surfaces in the cockpit are based on a newly developed knitted material and create a pleasant atmosphere. The two-tone fabric is made from recycled polyester and has an easy-care texture.

Comfortable seats for the driver and front passenger add to the modern, airy feel of the well-designed cockpit. There is a choice of grey or black seats in a combination of artificial leather and textile silhouette in blue. The JCW sport seats are available in beige and Nightshade Blue synthetic leather with contrasting stitching. In the JCW Trim, the sport seats are upholstered in black leather with multicoloured knitted fabric on the shoulders and red stitching.

High-resolution OLED display with touch function.
The new central instrument in the cockpit of the MINI Cooper Convertible combines innovative technologies in an extremely flat design. The high-quality 240 mm diameter glass surface allows the driver and front passenger to operate all vehicle functions conveniently by touch or voice. The innovative MINI Operating System 9 simplifies connectivity and brings apps and digital content from the smartphone to the display. This turns the MINI Interaction Unit into both a comfort and experience centre. 

Thanks to advanced OLED technology, the contents of the display are high-contrast and easy to see, even with the soft top open and in bright sunlight. Speed is displayed at the top of the screen, and tapping on the speed display opens a large full-screen speedometer that focuses on the driving experience. The other widgets are shown in thumbnail view in the Home menu, to the left and right of the current menu function. These can be moved to the centre and selected by means of a horizontal swiping movement. In the lower area of the OLED display, the menu items Navigation, Media, Telephone and Climate can be selected directly at any time.

MINI Experience Modes create immersive driving experiences.
Seven MINI Experience Modes can be selected to change the interior ambience and highlight different aspects of the MINI Cooper Convertible - even with the top down. The design of the OLED display changes depending on the selected setting and focusses on specially designed driving experiences. In Go-Kart Mode there is a highly dynamic focus on MINI’s racing DNA, for example. The display as well as the dashboard and the interior door panels are then dominated by the colours anthracite and red, while specific analogue displays for driving dynamics complement this John Cooper Works-inspired MINI Experience Mode.

To achieve this, two projector units behind the round instrument panel beam special illuminated graphics with different patterns and colours onto the dashboard when the top is closed. Changes are made to the colour scheme of the light patterns and to the ambient lighting in the entire interior depending on the Experience Mode selected.

Personal Mode offers innovative options for a particularly personalised cockpit design. In this mode, a personal photo can be uploaded via the MINI app and chosen as the display background. A digital colour picker then identifies the dominant colours of the photo for projection onto the textile dashboard surfaces. The ambient lighting under the dashboard and in the door mirror is also colour-coded to match these projections.

Modern classic: Newly designed toggle switch bar.
The toggle switch bar in the centre of the cockpit is a classic and typical MINI feature. It emphasises the emotional bond between driver and car through its characteristic feel. In the modern cockpit of the MINI Cooper Convertible, this authentic feature brings the brand's history into the present with a new design. Five individually designed toggle switches provide direct access to the MINI Cooper Convertible's most important driving functions (parking brake, gear selector, start/stop button, Experience Mode toggle, volume control). This eliminates the need for an additional gear selector and provides additional stowage space in the centre console. In addition to the cup holders, smartphones can be easily stored on a separate shelf while being charged via wireless charging.

Individual trims for the interior.
Three interior trim options are available for the MINI Cooper Convertible. Each conveys the contemporary feel-good concept of the interior of the vehicle in a different way. 

In the Classic Trim, the three-spoke steering wheel has a leather-look textile band with coloured accent stitching. In addition, a black and blue knitted surface on the instrument panel and doors provides a rich contrast to the seats, which are available in premium fabric or Vescin synthetic leather.

In the Favoured Trim, the interior has a strikingly expressive design. The instrument panel is upholstered in grey-beige houndstooth fabric. The knitted surface in the door panels continues the friendly interior design. JCW sport seats with additional side noticeably enhance comfort. These are made of perforated synthetic leather with classic accent stitching and an embroidered MINI logo in two colours.

The MINI Cooper Convertible's interior is showcased in maximum sporting style with the JCW Trim. Combined with multi-coloured knitted fabric and black synthetic leather with red stitching, the colour scheme echoes that of the dashboard and door trims. The JCW sport steering wheel replaces the six o'clock spoke with a black leather band with red stitching to match the trim-specific colour scheme.

The drive. Three efficient four-cylinder petrol engines.
There is a choice of three advanced two-litre petrol engines for the new MINI Cooper Convertible. All have four cylinders and accelerate the fun of open-air excursions. The entry-level model is the MINI Cooper C Convertible (combined fuel consumption: The performance-enhanced fuel consumption combined: 6.6 - 6.5 l/100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 149 - 147 g/km according to WLTP; CO2 class: E) with a power output of 120 kW/163 hp and a maximum torque of 250 Nm. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds. The top speed is 220 km/h.

The performance-enhanced MINI Cooper S Convertible (fuel consumption combined: 6.6 - 6.5 l/100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 150 - 148 g/km according to WLTP; CO2 class: E) has a power output of 150 kW/204 hp and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds with a maximum torque of 300 Nm. It has a top speed of 237 km/h.

In addition to these two variants, the performance-oriented JCW model focuses on sportiness and maximum driving pleasure.

Open-air rides with outstanding driving dynamics.
The MINI Cooper Convertible is equipped with a suspension and damping system tuned for agile handling. The MINI typical precise steering also makes the open-top model an attractive cornering artist. It also ensures a high level of safety and comfort.

Highly preloaded anti-roll bar mounts on the axles support the steering precision. This gives the convertible a well-balanced ride when cornering. Selective tuning of the steering and all stability control systems also ensure a safe and exceptional driving experience in all driving situations.

Digital services. The new MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant.
A spoken "Hey MINI!" activates the first fully-fledged voice assistant of the brand in the MINI Cooper Convertible. Alternatively, the push-to-talk steering wheel button is also available for this purpose. Communication with the virtual travel partner – either a stylised MINI or the character “Spike” – is particularly fluent and intuitive thanks to improved speech recognition. Voice-controlled interaction is supported by animated graphic elements, typography and the avatar on the OLED display. Navigation, telephony, entertainment and numerous vehicle functions can be controlled simply and conveniently by speaking the relevant command.

The MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant learns continuously through dialogue and is able to take on day-to-day tasks on repeated routes. For example, the system uses geospatial data to identify the entrance to the car park and can automatically open the window at the right time. This means that individual routines can be handled more conveniently.

Progressive assistance systems increase safety.
The optional Driving Assistant Plus Package provides the MINI Cooper Convertible with an additional Steering and Lane Assistant for lateral guidance. Adaptable and cooperative steering helps the driver stay on track. The increased comfort provided by the system relieves the driver of monotonous and less demanding aspects of driving. The clear, uncluttered design of the displays and controls and the easy to understand functions contribute to high system reliability.

Thanks to twelve ultrasonic sensors and four Surround View cameras, the Parking Assistant Professional in the MINI Cooper Convertible can detect free parking spaces and initiate parking manoeuvres automatically where space is limited. The Panorama View allows for better visibility of the surrounding area when the view is obscured by other vehicles. For additional control over the MINI, the Remote 3D View allows images to be transferred to a mobile device.

Easy-to-use connectivity and intuitive interaction.
The newly designed user interface in the OLED display of the MINI Cooper Convertible combines functional and emotional elements. Its minimalist design adapts the new graphics to the circular shape of the MINI Interaction Unit, simplifying operation by means of a clear structure. Static and dynamic elements combined with micro-animations ensure that the interaction between the driver and the central instrument is as harmonious and intuitive as possible. In this way, the MINI Operating System 9 gives the MINI Cooper Convertible a distinctly digital character.

In the centre of the screen is the start menu, where a horizontal swiping motion is used to select and start personalised content. At the bottom of the screen is the fixed status bar with the menu items “Navigation”, “Media”, “Telephony”, “All Apps” and, depending on the situation, “Home”, all of which can be selected directly. A so-called toolbelt can be called up by swiping upwards from the bottom edge of the screen. Favourite functions, e.g. navigation destinations and radio stations, can be saved here and accessed quickly at any time, just like on the smartphone. The toolbelt can also be activated via the star button on the multifunction steering wheel. The upper screen area is reserved for driving-related content such as speed and important vehicle status information. The optional Head-up Display presents the most important information directly in the driver’s line of sight.

Depending on the Experience Mode, a single tap on the speed display transforms the entire MINI Interaction Unit into a typical MINI speedometer. The temperature is shown permanently for the driver and front passenger at the left and right-hand edge of the screen. The climate settings are always integrated at the top level of the MINI Interaction Unit and are operated by either touch or voice.

MINI Connected upgrades allow additional driving functions to be activated flexibly at any time, including an optional augmented reality function that is able to visualise complicated turning situations realistically and in three-dimensional display, for example. In conjunction with the optionally available MINI Connected Package, the digital MINI Connected Store provides access to a constantly evolving variety of practical and entertaining apps, including in the areas of gaming, music and video streaming.

Munich. Developing colour and material schemes is an independent discipline within the MINI Design Studio. The interplay of newly developed patterns, colours, small design details and the use of innovative materials creates a particularly harmonious, homey ambience in the new MINI model interiors. Drawing inspiration from fashion, art, architecture and modern furniture design, completely new design worlds, still maintaining links to the rich tradition of iconic MINI design, emerge.

A key and consistent feature of the colour and material design for the new MINI model family is their particular attention to detail. It can be seen and sensed in every equipment variant. The colour scheme, choice of materials, visual and tactile elements combine to create an immersive and typical MINI overall experience.

Innovative materials offer new design possibilities.
One particular highlight is the innovative 2D weaving process used in the production of interior surfaces made from recycled polyester. The dashboards and door panels designed in this way create a sense of warmth and cosiness. The weaving process offers new design possibilities in terms of colouring and structure. It enables a dual-colour design with a particularly striking sense of depth. This comes about when the lower textile layer’s colour subtly shines through the upper one. This technique, inspired by sneaker design and meticulously refined, gives the surfaces a visual complexity, bringing a high-quality and unique appearance to the interior.

“The weaving process allows us to create unique dual-colour designs that bring a special aesthetic and atmosphere to the interior,” says Elena Schwörer, designer for materials and weaving. The woven textiles are not only visually appealing, but also offer an attractive tactile experience. The woven structure specially developed for the new MINI model family is a unique selling point, setting it apart from the competition. It also offers extensive customisation potential, as new colours and patterns can be easily introduced.

Colours and materials harmoniously combined.
The headrests of the new sports seats in the John Cooper Works Trim also feature an exclusive 2D woven surface that extends into the shoulder area. The combination of high-quality materials and precisely coordinated colour tones generates a harmonious, modern appearance in the cockpit as well as an exceptionally homey character. The new Vibrant Silver accent colour is a nuanced set-off to the contrasting stitching on the steering wheel.

“We wanted to use colours that respect the heritage of the brand and at the same time create a fresh, contemporary aesthetic,” explains Jeanette Ohlhäuser, colour designer at the MINI Design Studio. For example, British Racing Green, the iconic colour closely associated with the brand’s motorsport tradition, is interpreted as Dark Petrol in the new MINI Aceman interior. Favoured Trim picks up on the elegant colour tone in the woven surfaces of the dashboard and door trim as well as in the seat accents. Dark Petrol also harmonises particularly well with the Rebel Red exterior colour. This alternates between different shades of red and orange depending on how the light falls on it.

Precisely crafted structures for a special tactile experience.
The overall feel plays just as central a role in the interior design of the new MINI model family as the colour scheme and visual appearance of the materials. The surface textures and graining, found on almost every plastic part in the interior, are also developed with the utmost precision. “It is important to us that the texture of the surfaces harmonises perfectly with the other materials, such as the woven fabric in the interior,” says Marlies Michel, designer of MINI graining. The blueprints for the various surface textures used in the new MINI model family are based on influences that the design team draws from nature and science. This could be the grain on wood or rock, for example – but it could just as easily be a satellite photo of the earth, where fields, bodies of water or mountains can be seen as graphics with the appropriate resolution and provide inspiration for new grain patterns and structures. The very subtle MINI grain developed in this way blends perfectly with the visually strong weave and serves as a link between all the materials in the vehicle interior.

Many small individual elements form the parts of the equation that combines to form a harmonious, modern and high-quality overall picture. This extraordinary depth of detail once again emphasises the enormous leap forward in design that MINI has made with the new model generation.

Munich. The MINI Cooper S 5-door offers passengers more space and comfort. The model is 172 mm longer than the MINI three-door model and has a 72 mm larger wheelbase. Thanks to compact external dimensions, short overhangs, and a small turning circle of 11.4 meters, the five-door model remains a versatile vehicle for the city. Thanks to the increased tire diameter to 625 mm, the MINI Cooper 5-door looks more visually present. At the same time, this improves driving dynamics and driving comfort. The 60:40 folding rear seats allow the volume in the luggage compartment to grow from 275 liters to up to 925 liters and underline the universal idea of MINI: Plenty of space in a small footprint.

Efficient gasoline engine for sporty mobility.
The MINI Cooper S 5-door model has a four-cylinder engine with 150 kW/204 hp (combined fuel consumption: 6.8 — 6.3 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 152 — 141 g/km in accordance with WLTP; CO2 class E) with a maximum torque of 300 Nm. It accelerates to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 242 km/h.

The increased track width and longer wheelbase in combination with a precisely tuned suspension and damping system ensure a high level of comfort and lively handling. Combined with the precise steering feel typical of MINI and powerful brakes, this guarantees a high level of comfort in everyday life. Highly prestressed stabilizer bearings on the axles ensure balanced body behavior when dynamically cornering and increase steering precision.

Favoured Trim with individual expression.
Four different trim variants focus on different vehicle characteristics. In Favoured Trim, both the front grille frame and specific design elements are highlighted in vibrant silver and expand the individual expression. The reduced form language of the new MINI design comes into its own in the colour Icy Sunshine Blue. In addition to the brand typical Multitone Roof with a gradual colour gradient, there are three contrasting colours as well as the respective vehicle colour and a total of eleven body colours to choose from. Aerodynamic rim designs in sizes between 16 inches and 18 inches offer further exterior equipment options.

Minimalistic and innovative interior.
Textile surfaces characterize the feel-good atmosphere in the MINI Cooper interior. A specially developed knitting process creates the easy-care, versatile structure of the textile made from recycled polyester. In high-quality Favoured Trim, a two-tone houndstooth pattern adorns the knitted surface of the instrument panel and extends into the door trim. The perforated vescin sports seats are available in Nightshade Blue and Beige and with traditional accent stitching.

The cockpit of the new MINI Cooper 5-door is reminiscent of the puristic design of the classic Mini. With the round OLED display, all vehicle functions can be operated by touch or voice. In the upper area, vehicle-related information is displayed. At the bottom of the OLED display, the menu items Navigation, Media, Telephone and Climate can be selected directly.

The parking brake, gear selector, start/stop key, experience mode and volume control functions are directly accessible via the characteristic toggle switch strip. Instead of a gear selector, there is more storage space in the center console with an open shelf for smartphones. These can be charged via wireless charging and are always at hand.

New driver assistance systems make everyday life easier.
Thanks to 12 ultrasonic sensors and four surround view cameras, Parking Assistant Plus can identify parking spaces more precisely and independently initiate space-restricted parking processes. MINI Digital Key Plus turns the smartphone into a key. As soon as the driver is within three meters of the vehicle, the welcome projections of the front and rear lights start, and the doors open at a distance of less than one and a half meters. The digital key can be transferred to various users and replaces the transfer of the classic vehicle key for easier car sharing.

With a length of 4,036 mm, a width of 1,744 mm and a height of 1,464 mm, the body dimensions are almost identical to those of its predecessor and underline the basic idea behind every MINI: To create as much space as possible on a small footprint. 
In the case of the MINI Cooper 5 Door, this means an interior that offers enough space for five passengers. Compared to the new MINI Cooper 3 Door, the wheelbase is 72 mm longer and the body 172 mm longer. All of which benefits the occupants in terms of comfort and space. Short overhangs, clear surfaces and expressive accents also give the new MINI Cooper 5 Door its unmistakable charisma. Inside, digital innovations and an immersive user experience take the MINI DNA to a new level. 

The larger body version of the purist MINI Cooper also delivers the brand's hallmark driving fun and agile handling. There is a choice of two efficient petrol engines which, combined with the modern chassis and precise steering, deliver the hallmark MINI go-kart feeling.

The three-cylinder petrol engine of the MINI Cooper 5 Door C generates 115 kW/156 hp. The MINI Cooper 5 Door S is powered by a four-cylinder petrol engine with 150 kW/204 hp. Hallmark MINI steering and powerful brakes ensure a high level of driving fun, safety, and comfort. Compact dimensions, short overhangs, and a small turning circle of 11.4 metres make the MINI Cooper 5 Door a versatile model for the city.

The new MINI Cooper 5 Doorcombines charismatic MINI design with an extra portion of functionality. In the rear, the noticeably wider interior provides comfortable space for three passengers. The 60:40 folding rear seats increase the luggage compartment capacity from 275 litres to up to 925 litres.

The new MINI design style.
The new MINI Cooper is characterised by "Charismatic Simplicity".
The design language of the current MINI family presents the traditional values of the brand with a striking clarity. The authentic design language of the new models combines advanced technology with elementary principles of vehicle design and brand origins.

The exterior.
Short overhangs, a small bonnet, a long wheelbase, and large wheels - the proportions of the MINI Cooper 5 Door reflect its urban character.

Thanks to its compact silhouette, the model is easy and comfortable to manoeuvre even in tight spaces - with plenty of room for all passengers.  The new MINI Cooper 5 Door is an original MINI with a high recognition value. The visual tripartite division into a clearly designed body, a wraparound window area and a stepped roof makes it instantly recognisable.

The minimalist design of the front end with its focused expression contributes to this. The new generation also features the iconic MINI round headlights. Together with the octagonal front grille, they form the distinctive MINI face. Standard LED headlights with individually adjustable daytime running light elements enhance the striking appearance. The optional light signatures are available in three versions to emphasise the character of the vehicle. The MINI Cooper interacts with the driver using a specially orchestrated welcome and goodbye animation even before the journey begins.

Reduced body design for a striking look.
The new MINI aesthetic continues at the rear with clear surfaces and flush-fitting taillights. The vertically aligned LED clusters are reminiscent of the classic MINI lights and, like the headlights, can be switched to different settings.

The flush-mounted design of the rear lights lends a modern and purist look to the car’s rear sculpture. It is subdivided by a striking black handle strip with distinctive model lettering. Its horizontal alignment emphasises the new MINI Cooper's broad stance.

Four trims with individual equipment options.
The new MINI Cooper 5 Door is available in eleven expressive body colours. For the roof, there is a choice of three contrasting colours, the car colour and the characteristic multi-tone roof with a gradual colour gradient. The different colour tones highlight different features of the car and showcase the new MINI design language in a variety of ways.

The car can be personalised with four different exterior trims. The Essential Trim, which comes as standard, emphasises the minimalist overall appearance and highlights certain functional parts such as the logo in Vibrant Silver. Starting with the Classic Trim, the roof is available in black or white, as is the Multitone roof with its unique colour gradient. The contrast with the body colour gives the MINI Cooper a particularly expressive look. 

In the Favoured Trim version, the front radiator grille frame and certain design elements are finished in Vibrant Silver, further enhancing the individuality of the MINI Cooper.

The JCW Trim emphasises the sporty side of the MINI Cooper 5 Door. Exclusive design features such as the striking front and rear diffusers, radiator grille surround and high-gloss black JCW logo allude to MINI's motorsport heritage. Chili Red is available exclusively for the contrasting roof.

The tyre diameter is larger than on the outgoing model, emphasising the wide stance of the new MINI Cooper 5 Door. Aerodynamic wheel designs in 16 and 18-inch sizes offer further exterior options.

The interior.
The interior of the new MINI Cooper 5 Door also features the brand's typical combination of new elements, technical innovations, and references to the brand's history.

Minimalist and immersive.
The design of the front end of the new MINI Cooper 5 Door is reduced to the essentials and is reminiscent of the purist design of the classic Mini. Legendary inventor Alec Issigonis designed an interior for the first model with a round instrument in the centre and the characteristic toggle switch strip below. These two elements also structure the cockpit in the MINI Cooper 5 Door.
The minimalist design of the interior makes do with fewer components, which are cleverly designed and manufactured to a high standard. Behind the steering wheel, the optional, slim, combined head-up display ensures that all relevant content appears in the driver's field of vision. As a result, the dashboard on the driver’s side does not require an additional instrument panel, so it opens the view to the front.

Innovative materials characterise the feel-good atmosphere in the interior of the MINI Cooper. A specially developed knitting process is used to create the versatile, easy-care structure of the textile in two-colour design made of recycled polyester. The textile surfaces extend across the curved dashboard and into the door panels. The air vents feature an especially flat design. The horizontal arrangement of the air vents ensures an even flow of air in the cockpit. The direction of the vents can be easily adjusted.

The generous space in the front seats and the clean lines give the cockpit a modern and airy look. Thanks to the panoramic glass roof, the interior is particularly bright. The seats are available in a standard version and in a JCW version. Their side panels are upholstered in high-quality fabric right down to the adjustment buttons. Three passengers can sit comfortably in the rear.

High-resolution OLED display revolutionises user experience.
Like the round instrument of the outgoing model, the new central icon with its versatile functions is the visual focal point of the interior. The central OLED display in the redesigned cockpit has been moved closer to the driver, making it easier to reach. Its high resolution sets a new standard. Thanks to the MINI Operating System 9, all vehicle functions can be controlled intuitively by touch or voice. The slim touch display has a high-quality glass edge, has grown to 240 mm in diameter and its operating logic is reminiscent of the standards familiar from smartphones.

The graphical presentation of content focuses on the essentials. Vehicle-related information is displayed at the top. The lower part of the OLED display provides direct access to the navigation, media, phone and climate control menus. The home button returns the display to its default settings.

The MINI Experience Modes.
The seven MINI Experience Modes can be selected according to mood and personal preference and characterise the atmosphere in the interior.

Using the MINI Projector on the rear of the OLED display, they transform the dashboard into matching worlds of colour and pattern. The interplay of projection, ambient lighting and the MINI Interaction Unit creates a unique, immersive experience that extends into the door trim. This opens new possibilities for individualisation. In Personal Mode, for example, a personalised image can be selected as the display background via the MINI App. The dominant colours of the picture are then applied to the dashboard's textile surfaces using a digital colour picker. The ambient lighting under the dashboard and in the door mirror is also colour-coded to match these projections.

Each mode has its own customised backgrounds. In Go-kart mode, for example, the display and interior are dominated by the John Cooper Works signature charcoal grey and red.

The new design of the rocker switch strip.
Just like the iconic centre console, the rocker switch strip with its toggle switches is as legendary as the MINI itself - and yet it has been carefully updated time and again. In the latest version, the parking brake, gear selector, start/stop button, Experience Mode, and volume control are all at your fingertips. Practical benefit: The removal of the gear selector has freed up more space in the centre console, which now features a large open storage compartment in addition to the cup holders. Smartphones can be charged in the wireless charging area at the front of the console and are always ready to hand.

Four newly designed interior trims.
The new colour and material concept for the MINI Cooper 5 Door is deliberately minimalist. High-quality, environmentally friendly materials are used, such as the knitted recycled polyester surfaces on the dashboard and door trim.

Four newly designed trims underline the feel-good concept. The Essential Trim includes black sport seats with patterned multi-tone fabric and a matching fabric strip on the dashboard. A new accent colour, Vibrant Silver, is used to highlight certain interior and exterior functional elements.

Starting with the Classic Trim, the standard two-spoke steering wheel is replaced by a three-spoke version with a textile band at the six o'clock position. A 2D knitted fabric in grey and black on the dashboard and doors contrasts with the imitation leather seats.

A two-tone houndstooth pattern on the knitted dashboard is particularly expressive. The perforated Vescin sports seats are available in two colours with traditional accent stitching.

JCW Trim is a sporty interpretation of the new material concept. Combined with multi-coloured knitted fabric and black imitation leather with red stitching, the colour scheme echoes that of the dashboard and door trims.

Digital services.
"Hey MINI" - the new MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant.
In the new MINI Cooper, numerous functions can be controlled using the brand’s first fully-fledged voice assistant. The MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant can be activated with the greeting “Hey MINI” or else by using the push-to-talk steering wheel button. Voice-controlled interaction takes place on the circular OLED display in the form of an animation of graphic elements, typography, and an avatar. Users can choose between the visualisation of "MINI" - a stylised representation of a MINI - and the virtual travel partner "Spike". The driver can easily control navigation, telephone, entertainment, and numerous vehicle functions by voice.

The MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant continuously learns from repeated routes. Drawing on geo-based data, for example, the vehicle can learn to automatically open the window when entering a car park. This makes everyday life much more convenient.

The new MINI Operating System 9.
The MINI user interface combines functional and emotional elements. The design is reduced, creating a very modern look based on new graphics. Static and dynamic elements blend naturally into the circular shape of the MINI Interaction Unit, following a clear structure. Micro animations reinforce the intuitive interaction between the driver and the central instrument, thereby underlining the digital character of the new MINI family.

The MINI Operating System 9 is an in-house development of the BMW Group. Operation is intuitive and follows standards that are familiar from the consumer electronics sector.

The home menu is located in the centre of the screen. The status bar with the menu items Navigation, Media, Telephone, All Apps and (depending on the situation) Home is located at the bottom of the screen. Favourite functions such as navigation destinations or radio stations can be stored in the tool belt for quick access. The upper part of the screen is reserved for driving-related content, such as speed and important vehicle status information. The optional head-up display presents the most important information in the driver’s line of sight.

In conjunction with the MINI Connected Package, the full MINI Navigation Package supports the driver during the journey with realistic 3D visualisation of turn situations, a display of the current traffic situation even when the route guidance system is not activated, information on parking facilities including digital payment options and much more.

New driver assistance systems make day-to-day life easier.
The new Parking Assistant Plus makes the parking process even easier. Thanks to 12 ultrasonic sensors and four surround-view cameras, the vehicle can identify possible parking spaces more clearly and can even independently initiate space-restricted parking manoeuvres.

With MINI Digital Key Plus, the smartphone becomes the key and opens the car automatically. The welcome projection of the front and rear lights begins as soon as the driver is less than three metres away; the doors are unlocked when the driver is at less than one and a half metres away from the car. The digital key is transferable to different users, thereby facilitating car sharing in that it is no longer necessary to hand over a conventional vehicle key to the other person.

The drive.
The new MINI Cooper 5 Door with petrol engine.
The new MINI Cooper 5 Door is available with a choice of two efficient petrol engines. Within the new model family, MINI refers to the performance levels with the designations C and S. The entry-level model is the MINI Cooper C with a 115 kW/156 hp three-cylinder engine (consumption combined: 6.6 – 6.0 l/100 km (62 miles); CO2 emissions combined: 149 - 136 g/km according to WLTP) with 230 Nm (170 lb/ft) of torque. This enables the vehicle to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 8.0 seconds and reach a top speed of 225 km/h (134 mph).

The MINI Cooper S has a 150 kW/204 hp four-cylinder engine (consumption combined: 6.8 – 6.3 l/100 km (62 miles); CO2 emissions combined: 153 - 141 g/km according to WLTP with a maximum torque of 300 Nm (221 lb/ft). It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.8 seconds and has a top speed of 242 km/h (150 mph).

Comfortable and sporty mobility.
The track width and wheelbase are generous for this vehicle segment and provide the basis for the hallmark MINI dynamic performance. The MINI Cooper 5 Door features a suspension and damping system tuned for spirited handling. This ensures a high level of everyday driving comfort, combined with the precise steering feel typical of MINI and the powerful brakes.
Highly preloaded anti-roll bar mounts on the axles ensure balanced body handling during dynamic cornering. They also ensure steering precision and accuracy. The result is excellent body support combined with smooth rolling comfort. 

Selective tuning of the steering and all stability control systems ensures an exceptional experience in all driving situations. An adaptive suspension with frequency-selective damping system is available for particularly sporty driving. The increased tyre diameter of 625 mm gives the MINI Cooper 5 Door a greater visual presence. At the same time, driving dynamics and ride comfort are improved. In addition, the tyre width of the optionally available 17-inch and 18-inch rims is increased to 215 mm in order to emphasise the typical MINI go-kart feeling. Available rim sizes range from 16 to 18-inches.

Nürburg. MINI John Cooper Works proudly announces a spectacular performance at the 2024 Nürburgring 24 Hours race, showcasing the brand's enduring spirit and engineering excellence. The highly anticipated MINI John Cooper Works Pro #317 and the steadfast MINI John Cooper Works #474 both delivered remarkable results, cementing MINI's place in motorsport.

The #317 MINI John Cooper Works Pro, a new generation model set to premiere in fall 2024, emerged victorious in the SP-3T class, securing first place with a stunning lap time of 10:06, achieved by Markus Fischer (AUT), who shared the cockpit with Charlie Cooper (GBR), Christoph Kragenings (GER) and Sebastian Sauerbrei (GER). This remarkable performance underscores the capabilities and future potential of the next-generation MINI John Cooper Works models. 

The #474 MINI John Cooper Works, featuring a six-speed manual transmission, continued its legacy of excellence by securing a commendable third place in the VT-2 class. Building on its previous year's success of a second-place finish, the car, driven by Marco Zabel, Sascha Korte, Andreas Hilgers und Michael Bräutigam (all GER), recorded a fastest lap time of 10:44.118, showcasing the consistency and competitiveness of the MINI brand in endurance racing.

Stefanie Wurst, Head of MINI, commented on this outstanding achievement: "What an achievement for MINI and Bulldog Racing to win their class at the hardest race in the world. Both cars “Made in Nürburg” were equipped with high-performance Pirelli tires, further enhancing their competitive edge on the challenging Nürburgring circuit. The overall standings saw the MINI John Cooper Works Pro #317 achieving the impressive overall position 71, while the MINI John Cooper Works #474 secured an overall position of 78 out of 127 cars, showcasing the brand's resilience and prowess in one of the most demanding endurance races globally.

The petrol version of the MINI Cooper, namely the MINI Cooper C and MINI Cooper S were launched earlier in May 2024 with first cars being delivered to customers worldwide. The all-new MINI John Cooper Works will premiere in October 2024. The John Cooper Works product line-up will comprise both all-electric and petrol-powered vehicles.

Fuel consumption, CO2 emission figures and power consumption and range were measured using the methods required according to Regulation VO (EC) 2007/715 as amended. Munich. Creative use of space – reinterpreted: MINI celebrates the premiere of the first crossover model for the premium small car segment. The new MINI Aceman combines compact exterior dimensions with as much room as possible for occupants and an all-electric drive. The result is a contemporary interpretation of classic Mini inventor Sir Alec Issigonis’ underlying vision: maximum utilisation of space with a minimum footprint combined with a modern drive concept. The progressive design of the new MINI Aceman provides space for five comfortable seats within a vehicle length of just over four metres. MINI draws on innovative technologies to enhance the interior with an immersive digital user experience, while the MINI Aceman’s all-electric drive gives a fresh boost to the characteristic MINI go-kart feeling. Combined with modern assistance systems and hallmark design, traditional brand values pave the way for an all-electric MINI future.

From the outside, the MINI Aceman embodies sporty agility and a self-assured presence. The vehicle architecture of the new crossover model is based on a fully electric drive concept.

Measuring just under four metres in length, the new MINI Aceman has five seats and a versatile luggage compartment with a load volume of 300 litres, while numerous adjustment options enable this capacity to be extended individually to as much as 1,005 litres. With a predicted range of up to 406 kilometres in the WLTP test cycle, the MINI Aceman is perfectly equipped for locally emission-free mobility beyond the city limits, too.

New design style “Charismatic Simplicity”.
The entire new MINI family features a clear, reduced design, giving the various models a contemporary look that exudes effortless assurance. The minimalist design style of the MINI Aceman also powerfully conveys its progressive character.

The exterior.
Expressive crossover with compact proportions.
With its striking front-end, robust contours and athletic stance, the sporty MINI crossover model epitomises agility and self-assured presence. Measuring 4.07 metres in length, 1.75 metres in width and 1.50 metres in height, the MINI Aceman is positioned between the MINI Cooper and the MINI Countryman.

Featuring a streamlined front, short overhangs and the functional two-box design, the brand’s hallmark “Clever Use of Space” design principle has been given a new, distinctive character, while the all-electric drive opens up a whole range of fresh possibilities in terms of vehicle design. Creative space utilisation ensures the new MINI Aceman is agile and nimble in urban traffic while at the same time providing ample room for occupants.

Continuous surfaces give centre stage to the expressive and elegant colours of the body. The versatile and adventurous character of the MINI Aceman is emphasised by the standard roof rails, visually accentuated wheels in sizes from 17” to 19”, and underride protection at the front, rear and sides of the vehicle.

Modern front-end design with striking LED headlights.
The front-end design of the MINI Aceman conveys a powerful presence, reinterpreting typical MINI design elements such as the expressive headlights and the characteristic front grille. Its remodelled, octagonal shape builds on the traditional underlying theme of the hexagon. The grille surround in the MINI Aceman extends into the solid underride protection on the front apron. In the new Vibrant Silver finish or in high-gloss Jet Black, the front grille sets highly contrasting accents, helping to make the crossover model instantly identifiable.

With their individual design, the car’s angular LED headlights also lend emphasis to the distinctive standing of the MINI Aceman within the MINI model family. Their shape is perpetuated in the clarity of the bonnet design with its precise lines, giving the front of the vehicle its distinctive character. The daytime running light elements of the LED headlights can be switched to three different modes, underpinning the expressive character of this new MINI family member.

Distinctive body design with eye-catching details.
The surface design of the MINI Aceman contributes to the clarity and freshness of the new model’s aesthetic style. Tautly stretched body surfaces are accentuated by precise lines and robust angles. While making a progressive statement, this eye-catching styling of the MINI Aceman also forges a link to the brand’s history, enabling it to be instantly identified as a MINI.

The classic tripartite division of body, surrounding window graphics and roof has been reinterpreted. In keeping with idea of reducing everything to the essentials, a flush transition between the vehicle body and glass surfaces optimises the car’s aerodynamic properties. Flat integrated door openers emphasise the progressive expression of the MINI Aceman, while diagonal contours in the body below the A-pillars echo the weld crease of the classic Mini models in the front area of the side panels. Harmonious surfaces and horizontal lines between the wheel arches create an intriguing waistline, giving the vehicle body its unmistakable dynamic flair. The strikingly shaped wheel arches with their long rearward sweep and relatively steep downturn are an entirely unique feature of the MINI Aceman within the MINI Family. Sills in matt black round off the design of the side view towards the road, and their shape is carried on into the door area, giving the vehicle body a slim, upright and athletic appearance.

The rear of the vehicle reflects clarity of design, featuring large horizontal surfaces that emphasise the vehicle’s broad and stable stance. The aerodynamically bevelled and retracted rear window ensures a pronounced, powerful shoulder section, an effect that is further emphasised by the elongated roof spoiler. The hallmark MINI upright rear lights frame the centre section of the rear of the vehicle. With three distinctive graphics, the Matrix rear lights bear out the character of the MINI Aceman in differing ways. A wide, dark surround at the lower edge of the rear apron and the underride protection element integrated in the centre make for sporty proportions, thereby conveying the crossover model’s versatile characteristics.

Expressive body finishes and four individual trims .
The subtle three-dimensional quality of the body surfaces is stylishly highlighted by means of expressive colours. Shadows cast by the accentuated bodywork can be perceived to varying degrees, depending on the incidence of light and perspective. In combination with four contrasting finishes for the roof in hallmark MINI style, this conveys the expressive character of the MINI Aceman with particular clarity.

The MINI Aceman is available in four different trims. An oblong-shaped badge in the design of the respective equipment variant is attached to the front area of the side sill. The Essential Trim presents maximum clarity and a reduced overall appearance, highlighting certain functional parts such as the logo in the new Vibrant Silver finish. In connection with the Classic Trim, the contrasting roof and exterior mirrors can be selected in black or white. The front grille is finished in high-gloss black, while the inner surface of the grille and the bumper are finished in body colour.

The Favoured Trim extends the individual expressive capabilities of the MINI Aceman to include the option of the characteristic Multitone Roof, combined with white mirror caps and a grille frame in Vibrant Silver. The maximum sporty flair of the new crossover model is particularly evident in the JCW Trim. This equipment variant inspired by motorsports has its very own distinctive front and rear design. The front grille is featuring a frame and the variant-specific JCW logo in high-gloss black, while a contrasting roof in Chili Red and red bonnet stripes underline the powerful overall appearance. Meanwhile the rear sculpture is much more muscular in shape and the all-round panelling is finished in high-gloss black.

Various aerodynamic wheel rim designs in sizes between 17 inches and 19 inches further complement the exterior equipment options available for the MINI Aceman.

The interior.
Purist design and wide-ranging material concept.
The new MINI design style “Charismatic Simplicity” is expressed particularly clearly in the interior. With its consistent reduction in terms of interior design, the MINI Aceman follows the original vision of Alec Issigonis, the inventor of the classic Mini. With its easy-to-handle steering wheel, a central OLED display and the remodelled hallmark toggle bar, the cockpit echoes three key design elements of the classic Mini. By means of this contemporary styling in the entirely new crossover model, MINI transports the history of the brand into the here and now.

Spacious door interiors along with comfortable dimensions in the shoulder area and convenient legroom give the bright cockpit an open and amply proportioned atmosphere, while the panoramic glass roof enhances this effect by providing additional light from above. In the dark, the ambient lighting along the roof frame creates the selected lighting mood in the interior. The free-standing door handles and the speaker covers in the new Vibrant Silver finish are aligned diagonally and create a fascinating contrast with the horizontal design in the front area of the cockpit.

The gentle, rounded design style of the interior is further reflected in the curved surfaces of the dashboard: the latter’s surface is covered with a knitted material in which the lower colour shines through the upper one. This gives the interior a homely character with starkly accentuated colour contrasts. Extending to the interior door trim, the easy-care, versatile structure is made of recycled polyester. Rounding off the high-quality fittings in the cockpit are comfortable seats, optionally featuring a textile surface or made of perforated Vescin.

The amply sized rear of the vehicle offers space for three passengers. Thanks to the 60:40 folding rear seat backrest, the luggage compartment can be extended from 300 litres to up to 1,005 litres as required.

High-resolution OLED display for contemporary ride comfort.
With innovative technologies, the circular OLED display lends the interior additional expressive quality. With a diameter of 240 mm, the central instrument features an extremely flat design and a high-quality glass surface. The innovative MINI Operating System 9 enables all driving functions to be operated intuitively by touch or voice. A centre for both comfort and experience, the MINI Interaction Unit is handled in a similar way to a smartphone.

The graphic presentation of the vehicle-related data is contemporary and minimalistic in style, with the speed and battery status shown prominently at the top of the display, directly in the driver’s field of vision. Tapping the speed display opens a large full-screen speedometer that clearly focuses on the driving experience. The other widgets are shown in thumbnail view in the Home menu, to the left and right of the current menu function. These can be moved to the centre and selected by means of a horizontal swiping movement. In the lower area of the OLED display, the menu items Navigation, Media, Telephone and Climate can be selected directly at any time.

MINI Experience Modes enhance the driving experience.
The emotional MINI Experience Modes enhance the interior with immersive user experiences. In the MINI Aceman, two projector units beam special illuminated graphics onto the dashboard with differing patterns and colours. Changes are made to the colour scheme of the light patterns and to the ambient lighting in the entire interior depending on the Experience Mode selected. The newly created MINI Driving Sounds enhance the experience of all-electric mobility. Together with specific graphic elements on the OLED display, vehicle occupants enjoy an entirely new driving experience in the interior of the MINI Aceman.

Among the eight modes available for selection, Personal Mode offers innovative options for customising the cockpit. In this mode, a personally selected image can be uploaded from a smartphone via the MINI app and chosen as the display background. A digital colour picker then identifies the dominant colours of the photo for projection onto the textile dashboard surfaces. The ambient lighting under the dashboard and in the door mirror is also colour-coded to match these projections.

The other modes available for selection are Go-Kart Mode, Vivid Mode, Core Mode, Green Mode, Timeless Mode, Balance Mode and Trail Mode, each of which focusses the display on a “Mode App” to match the ambience. In Go-Kart Mode there is a highly dynamic focus on MINI’s racing DNA, for example. The display and the interior as a whole then feature the colours anthracite and red, while specific analogue displays for driving dynamics complement this MINI Experience Mode inspired by John Cooper Works.

Typical MINI: historic toggle bar in a new design.
In the classic Mini, the feel of the toggle bar at the centre of the cockpit enhanced the emotional connection between driver and vehicle. MINI also draws on this characteristic equipment detail to transport brand history into the latest of its models. The most important driving functions (parking brake, gear selector, start/stop key, experience mode toggle, volume control) are directly accessible in the MINI Aceman via five individually designed toggles. This means that no additional gear selector is required, making room for practical and spacious storage options in the centre console. In addition to the cup holders, there is an additional tray for wirelessly charging smartphones.

Four individual equipment options.
All the models of the new MINI family feature four trims with individual customisation options, each conveying the contemporary feel-good concept in the interior of the MINI Aceman in a different way.

In the Essential Trim, the interior is designed with maximum clarity and a reduction of equipment details. Black sports seats with distinctly patterned multitone textile harmonise with a coloured textile inlay on the dashboard. From the Classic trim upwards, the two-spoke basic steering wheel is replaced by a three-spoke steering wheel with a textile band in differing colours. In addition, the equipment variant with a black and blue knitted surface on the dashboard and doors provides a diversified contrast to the seats in high-quality fabric or Vescin.

In the Favoured Trim, the interior features a strikingly expressive design. The dashboard comes in the elegant Dark Petrol, complemented by an accentuated colour gradient in orange on the passenger side. The dynamic appearance is further reflected in the sports seats made of perforated Vescin. These are available with traditional accent stitching and an embroidered MINI logo in two colours. The JCW Trim presents the versatile material concept of the MINI Aceman in maximum sporty style. The JCW seat with sports seat geometry and additional lateral support noticeably enhances comfort. Combined with multi-coloured knitted textile and black synthetic leather with red stitching, the colour concept echoes the design of the dashboard and door trim.

Digital services.
Simplified communication with the first MINI voice assistant.
The brand’s first fully-fledged voice assistant can be activated in the MINI Aceman by saying “Hey MINI!”. Alternatively, the push-to-talk steering wheel button is also available for this purpose. Voice-controlled interaction is visualised on the circular OLED display by means of an animation of graphic elements, typography and an avatar. Communication with the virtual travel partner – either a stylised MINI or the character “Spike” – is particularly fluent and intuitive thanks to improved speech recognition. Navigation, telephony, entertainment and numerous vehicle functions can be controlled simply and conveniently by speaking the relevant command.

The MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant learns continuously through dialogue and is able to take on day-to-day tasks on repeated routes. Based on geo-based data, for example, the vehicle can identify the entrance to a multi-storey car park and automatically open the window. This means that individual routines can be handled more conveniently.

Advanced assistance systems increase safety.
Driving Assistant Plus provides the MINI Aceman with an additional steering and lane assistant for lateral guidance. Convenient and cooperative steering helps the driver stay on track. The increased comfort offered by the system combines relaxed and superior control of the vehicle while relieving the driver of the monotonous and less demanding aspects of driving. The clear-cut appearance of the displays, operating elements and easy-to-understand functional features result in a high degree of system security. The new Trailer Assistant helps when manoeuvring into a parking space with a trailer as standard, also offering advice on the required steering wheel angle when reversing.

Thanks to twelve ultrasonic sensors and four Surround View cameras, the MINI Aceman is able to identify vacant parking spaces with greater precision, automatically initiating parking manoeuvres where space is limited, while the new Remote Parking function of the optional Parking Assistant Pro enables the vehicle to be parked using a smartphone. This function allows the MINI Aceman to be driven out of a parking space automatically, making it easier to get into the vehicle if space to the side is too limited.

The innovative MINI Digital Key Plus option likewise utilises the user’s smartphone to ensure a convenient and personalised vehicle experience, transforming the smartphone into a vehicle key. The front and rear lights start the welcome projection as soon as the driver is less than three metres away, and the doors unlock automatically. Replacing the conventional vehicle key, the digital key can be transferred to several users.

Convenient connectivity and intuitive interaction.
The modern aesthetics of the digital user interface in the MINI Aceman combine functional and emotional elements. Its minimalist design adapts the new graphics to the circular shape of the MINI Interaction Unit, simplifying operation by means of a clear structure. Static and dynamic elements combined with micro-animations ensure that the interaction between the driver and the central instrument is harmonious and intuitive. This emphatically digital character of the MINI Aceman is enabled by the MINI Operating System 9.

At the centre of the screen is the start menu, while at the bottom of the screen the fixed status bar can be seen with the menu items “Navigation”, “Media”, “Telephony”, “All Apps” and, in certain situations, “Home” – all of which can be selected directly. As customers are used to from numerous consumer electronics devices, a so-called toolbelt can be made to appear by swiping upwards from the bottom edge of the screen. Preferred functions such as navigation destinations and radio stations can be saved for quick retrieval at any time. The toolbelt can also be activated via the star button on the multifunction steering wheel. The upper screen area is reserved for driving-related content such as speed and important vehicle status information. The optional head-up display presents the most important information in the driver’s line of sight.

The temperature is shown permanently for the driver and front passenger at the left and right-hand edge of the screen. The climate settings are always integrated at the top level of the MINI Interaction Unit and are operated by either touch or voice. Depending on the Experience Mode, a single tap on the speed display transforms the entire MINI Interaction Unit into a typical MINI speedometer.

MINI Connected upgrades allow additional driving functions to be activated flexibly at any time, including an optional augmented reality function that is able to visualise complicated turning situations realistically and in three-dimensional display, for example. In conjunction with the optionally available MINI Connected Package, the digital MINI Connected Store provides access to a constantly evolving variety of practical and entertaining apps, including in the area of gaming, music and video streaming. The new AirConsole app offers a unique form of in-car gaming for all passengers, turning the user’s smartphone into a game controller on the OLED display.

The drive.
All-electric and efficient.
The MINI Aceman is available solely with an all-electric drive, enabling locally emission-free mobility. The efficient electric motor ensures hallmark MINI driving fun both in urban areas and on excursions beyond the city limits. At market launch, the new MINI Aceman will be available in the MINI Aceman E (electricity consumption combined: 14,7 – 14,1 kWh/100 km according to WLTP; CO2 emissions combined: 0 g/km; CO2-class: A; Range in km according to WLTP: 298 - 310) version and also as the MINI Aceman SE (electricity consumption combined: 14,8 – 13,9 kWh/100 km according to WLTP; CO2 emissions combined: 0 g/km; CO2-class: A; Range in km according to WLTP: 382 – 406) with increased output. 

The 135 kW/184 hp electric motor of the MINI Aceman E generates a torque of 290 Nm, accelerating the car from standstill to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and reaching a top speed of 160 km/h. With an output of 160 kW/218 hp, the MINI Aceman SE generates a torque of 330 Nm, enabling the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 170 km/h.

With an energy content of 42.5 kWh, the battery of the MINI Aceman E achieves a range of 310 kilometres in the WLTP test cycle. The high-voltage battery of the MINI Aceman SE has an energy content of 54.2 kWh, giving it a range of 406 kilometres according to the WLTP.

Sporty agility and outstanding driving dynamics.
Its chassis gives the new MINI Aceman a sporty character, and this is also reflected in the driving fun that is typical of the brand. The tyres with a diameter of 654 mm give the vehicle a more powerful visual presence, enhancing driving dynamics and ride comfort in equal measure. The Aceman is equipped with a precise damping system that features highly prestressed stabilisers: these improve steering precision and accuracy while at the same time ensuring sound roll support. The precise adjustment of the steering and all driving stability control systems to either comfortable or sporty driving guarantees an exceptional driving experience in every situation. The response of the electric drive to pressure on the accelerator pedal is optimised for a sporty driving style.

Meanwhile, agile and dynamic handling is emphasised by the direct steering, with a rack ratio of 59.5 mm rack travel per turn of the steering wheel. Combined with a short and firm feel when braking, the integrated braking system increases ride comfort by means of reliable stabilisation. In conjunction with the numerous driver assistance systems, short braking distances increase safety.

The MINI Experience Modes with various suspension set-ups are available for a customised driving experience, while driving fun can be intensified by adjusting the steering response and also specially calibrated intervention limits for the traction control.

Quick and easy: charging the battery.
The battery of the MINI Aceman can be charged via alternating current with 11 kW. Fast charging with direct current is possible in the MINI Aceman E with 75 kW and in the Aceman SE with up to 95 kW. At a fast charging station, this allows the battery to be charged from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in just under 30 minutes. When MINI Navigation is activated, the high-voltage battery can be set to the ideal temperature for efficient charging in advance, depending on weather conditions. This significantly reduces charging time, especially in cold outdoor temperatures.

For a transparent and simple charging process, the customer can optimise vehicle battery charging by means of easy-to-understand setting options. The start time for charging can be selected or a specific time window for charging can be set, for example. A precise target level for battery capacity can be determined in advance, too. For a particularly pleasant start, charging can be set to be completed by a selected departure time, and the vehicle interior can be air-conditioned to the desired temperature by this time. The MINI App provides a convenient overview of the charging process, even if the customer is not near the vehicle. This provides details of the current battery status, a charging-optimised route plan, and charging history to date – including all costs and savings.

Munich. The fifth generation of the MINI Cooper comes with a broad drivetrain portfolio of purely electric engines, as well as efficient gasoline engines. The MINI Cooper S equipped with four cylinders (combined fuel consumption: 6.4 — 6.1 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 144 — 138 g/km in accordance with WLTP) combines a 150 kW/204 hp gasoline engine with a suspension and damping system tailored to agile handling.
The 2.0 liter TwinPower turbo engine with 300 Nm maximum torque accelerates the vehicle in 6.6 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h.

Classic trim with expressive details.
There are four vehicle trims to choose from for the MINI Cooper S.

Monday 11 March – Today sees the start of production for the new, fifth generation MINI Cooper at the home of MINI, Plant Oxford.

 Associates at MINI Plant Oxford were joined by Head of MINI, Stefanie Wurst for a special on-site event in which the first three-door model was driven off the production line by Charlie Cooper, grandson of the legendary John Cooper, whose heritage inspired the Cooper moniker.

Commenting on the start of production, Stefanie Wurst, Head of MINI said, “This milestone underscores our commitment to our roots while propelling us into a dynamic future of driving. Plant Oxford is the heart of the MINI brand, and today, as we witness the birth of this new chapter, we renew our pledge to craftsmanship and the thrill of motoring."

The new MINI Cooper is the latest generation to be built in the UK, with all three BMW Group UK manufacturing sites contributing to production: BMW Group Plant Swindon produces body pressings and sub-assemblies, while the latest highly-efficient three and four-cylinder petrol engines are built at BMW Group Plant Hams Hall in North Warwickshire.Finally, these parts come together at MINI Plant Oxford where body shell production, paint and final assembly take place.

Since the launch of the first modern MINI in 2001, over 4.4 million MINIs have been produced in Britain - including 150,000 MINI Electric models which were built between 2019 and 2023.

With its high level of flexibility, competitiveness and expertise, the MINI Oxford plant plays an important role in the BMW Group's production network, and is currently preparing to build two new all-electric MINI models from 2026. The BMW Group will then have invested a total of more than 3 billion GBP in the Swindon, Hams Hall and Oxford plants.

Announced last month, the new MINI Cooper arrives as the third member of the new MINI family, joining the MINI Cooper Electric and the new MINI Countryman. Available in two model variants: the MINI Cooper C and performance-enhanced MINI Cooper S, the latest three-door merges traditional brand values with innovative, future orientated technology.

The model’s exterior silhouette features clear surfaces, short overhangs, and a short bonnet which combined with a contrasting long wheelbase, achieves the typical MINI proportions. Moving inside, the interior is minimalistic, with the entire cockpit focussed on just three elements: a revolutionary circular OLED display, the new Vescin steering wheel and the toggle bar. The MINI Cooper will be priced from £22,300 RRP with first customer deliveries in spring 2024.

Leipzig. Electrification continues at BMW Group Plant Leipzig: Four months after launching production of the combustion-engined MINI Countryman, the all-electric version is now rolling off the lines at Leipzig as well. After phasing out production of the BMW i3, the birthplace of electric mobility at the BMW Group has welcomed another fully electric car to its range. It now manufactures four models with three drive types by two brands, all on a single production line: the BMW 1 Series, the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer (including the plug-in hybrid version), the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe and the MINI Countryman in both its fully electric and combustion-powered versions.

The MINI Countryman Electric represents a major step in the MINI brand’s transition to full electrification by 2030 and combines an electrified go-kart feel with zero local emissions mobility. It comes in two fully electric variants: the Countryman E (150 kW, 204 hp | electricity consumption 17.4 – 15.7 kWh/100 km | CO2 emissions 0 g/km) and the more powerful all-wheel Countryman SE ALL4 (230 kW, 313 hp | electricity consumption 18.5 – 16.8 kWh/100 km | CO2 emissions 0 g/km).  

Consistent plant upgrades and flexible production system

To enable production of up to 350,000 units a year – 100,000 more than previously – Plant Leipzig has been continuously upgraded since 2018, with extensive additions and upgrades to the bodyshop, paintshop, assembly and logistics. “Our cars and components are very much in demand. In recent years the BMW Group has invested around 1.6 billion euros in the Leipzig site to produce additional vehicles and electric components, and now we’re increasing vehicle volumes too – which is great news for our plant,” said Petra Peterhänsel, Plant Director.

The main driver behind the volume increase is the MINI Countryman. During the course of 2024, output will rise to almost 500 units a day – on top of the 800 or so BMW vehicles the plant is producing. What’s more, thanks to its flexible production system, Plant Leipzig is in a position to respond quickly to customer demand, for example by increasing the share of fully electric vehicles.

Flexible assembly structures also meant the MINI Countryman Electric could be integrated seamlessly into production. The situation is similar with the different drive units, which are all produced on one and the same line in aggregate assembly and prepared for what’s known as “marriage” with the body. The e-drives, transmissions and control electronics (collectively known as the highly integrated electric drive topology, or HEAT) for the two all-electric models are connected directly in the plant. A new production line was required only for the control electronics.

More staff and nightshifts for increased production volume

Higher production volume means secure employment and up to 900 additional employees in vehicle production alone. By the end of 2024, Plant Leipzig will employ around 7,000 BMW staff. Working hours will need to be adjusted in all technologies, with nightshifts in assembly starting for the first time in September of this year and cars being produced round the clock in three shifts.

“Plant Leipzig first went on stream in 2005 with about 2,600 employees in production. 19 years later there are over 7,000. Over the years, the plant has grown steadily and considerably. The start of nightshifts in assembly represents another important milestone in the success story of our plant and is a clear show of confidence by our company in our site here in Leipzig,” emphasised Works Council Chairman Jens Köhler.

Made at Plant Leipzig: high-voltage batteries for the MINI Countryman Electric

With the production launch of the MINI Countryman Electric, all three stages of the Gen 5 high-voltage battery production process are now represented at BMW Group Plant Leipzig: cell coating, module production and battery assembly. Operations in all three are currently ramping up, with five cell-coating, three module-production and two high-voltage battery-production lines now in place.

“We are in the middle of the transformation to e-mobility,” said Markus Fallböhmer, Head of Battery Production at the BMW Group. “Starting this year, Plant Leipzig will carry out every stage of our in-house high-voltage battery production process. It’s our next great step forwards.”

Plant Leipzig’s e-component production capacity has been increasing since 2021. It will now manufacture not just the high-voltage batteries for the MINI Countryman Electric but also e-components for the BMW iX1, BMW iX2, BMW i4, BMW i5 and BMW iX made at other sites. The e-component production unit at Leipzig currently employs some 1,000 people.

To enable production of high-voltage batteries, spaces previously used for the BMW i3 and BMW i8 have been converted and new buildings added. One of them is a new hall with a footprint of about 61,000 m². This houses two lines capable of producing up to 300,000 high-voltage batteries a year. The BMW Group has invested over 900 million euros in e-component production at Plant Leipzig to date.

Resource-saving painting processes

At launch, the fully electric MINI Countryman comes in three additional body colours: British Racing Green, Chili Red and Blazing Blue – and with MINI’s trademark contrast roof, if desired. This is painted using a new overspray-free method that saves resources and is currently being readied for series operation. The term “overspray” refers to the mist of excess paint particles that forms when bodies are painted the conventional way. With the new technique, this mist no longer occurs. This makes it easier to paint in multiple colours as the laborious process of masking is no longer required. Overspray-free painting also helps save CO₂ emissions, as exhaust from the cabin requires less cleansing. In addition, it requires considerably less conditioned air, i.e. air that is brought to the exact temperature and humidity required for painting. As a result, less energy is needed to temper air and treat exhaust.

The burner technology used to dry the paint on contrast roofs was also converted for the start of MINI Countryman production and now consists of a bivalent system. The fuel-flexible burners can run on hydrogen (H2) as well as gas (methane, CH4) and even switch between the two while in operation. Five such bivalent hydrogen-capable burners are used to produce the contrast roofs for the MINI Countryman.

Further burners in the paintshop will also gradually switch to bivalent operations, with the next six hydrogen-capable burners just installed. This makes Leipzig a pioneer in the automotive industry and takes it ever closer to lower CO₂ emissions. “Our vision at Plant Leipzig is to decarbonise production as far as possible by replacing fossil fuels with green hydrogen,” said Petra Peterhänsel, explaining the long-term focus of the facility. This will require sufficient green hydrogen from a grid. A regional hydrogen grid is currently in planning, with Plant Leipzig set to benefit.

The interior focuses on minimalist design and new materials. Technical innovations such as the MINI Operating System 9, the new MINI Experience Modes and a wide range of digital functions create an immersive user experience.

Two powerful drive variants:

In North American trim, the MINI Cooper S 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine generates an estimated output of 201 hp and a maximum of 221 ft-lbs of torque. Specifications and performance details of the Cooper 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine will be made available at a later date.

The MINI Cooper is equipped with a suspension and damping system designed for agile handling. The typically precise MINI steering combined with powerful brakes ensures a high level of driving pleasure, safety, and comfort.

The exterior - cult status included:

With a purist design and compact silhouette, the MINI Cooper is the embodiment of the brand's basic idea: maximum driving pleasure with a minimal ecological footprint. The contemporary minimalism of the new design characterizes the clear surfaces of the body. Short overhangs and a short bonnet contrast with the long wheelbase, giving the car typical MINI proportions.

At the front, the new octagonal grille with its filigree contours defines the MINI Cooper's characteristic face even more. The BMW Group's smallest radar sensor to date is positioned on the horizontal strut between the air intakes. A total of 12 ultrasonic sensors in the MINI Cooper support the driver assistance systems and increase driving safety.

Horizontal LED daytime running lights underline the new appearance in the standard setting. The striking appearance is further enhanced by three selectable light signatures called Classic, Favoured, or JCW for the daytime running lights of the MINI LED headlights and the redesigned matrix rear lights.  All three selectable light signatures begin and end with a specially orchestrated welcome or goodbye animation.

The interior - classic, innovative, MINI:

The MINI Cooper's elegant, minimalist interior design is inspired by the classic Mini. The new steering wheel, the typical MINI toggle bar and the two-tone textile dashboard create a sense of spaciousness in the cockpit. Clean lines are the hallmark of the modern interior with its generous amount of space. The panoramic glass roof adds to the bright and friendly atmosphere. By folding down the rear seat in a 60:40 ratio, the luggage compartment can be flexibly expanded from 210 litres to provide a volume of up to 725 litres.

The most important driving functions (parking brake, gear selector, start/stop key, experience mode toggle, volume control) are directly accessible via the distinctive toggle bar. By moving the gear selector to the toggle bar, the centre console now has space to accommodate the new Wireless Charging Shelf 2.0 where smartphones can be stored here and charged wirelessly.

The MINI Interaction Unit has been moved closer to the driver in the MINI Cooper cockpit. An industry first, this thin, high-resolution OLED display with high-quality glass edge has a diameter of 240 mm. Its operating logic is like that of a smartphone and can be operated intuitively by touch.

Relevant vehicle-related information, such as speed and fuel consumption, is displayed at the top of the screen. In the main menu, the functions are arranged horizontally as widgets and can be selected by swipe and touch. In the lower area of the OLED display, the menu items Navigation, Media, Telephone and Climate can be selected directly at any time.

Digital innovations for an immersive user experience:

As part of the optional MINI Experience Modes, two projector units beam various illuminated graphics onto the dashboard. The interplay of visual design, ambient lighting and sound design changes the appearance of the cockpit and opens new possibilities for personalizing the MINI Cooper.

Drive safely, arrive relaxed:

The new MINI Cooper offers numerous driver assistance systems for safe and comfortable driving pleasure. As standard, the Safe Exit function monitors the area around the parked vehicle and warns approaching road users before the door is opened. The function not only delays the unlocking of the doors, but also uses light signals outside the vehicle to warn of a possible collision.

On the road, the MINI Navigation package optionally provides support with 3D visualization and Augmented View, displays the current traffic situation, provides information about parking options, and much more. Camera and radar-based assistance functions increase safety by supporting steering and lane keeping as part of the comprehensive Driving Assistant Plus package. Automatic speed and distance control makes city driving even more comfortable.

Just say "Hey MINI" to activate the MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant (IPA) on the OLED display. A 3D visualization then appears in the form of a "car" avatar or the digital MINI companion "Spike". Interacting with the MINI IPA, the driver can use his voice to control a wide range of options such as navigation, telephony, entertainment, and other vehicle functions.

The innovative MINI Digital Key Plus function turns the smartphone into the car key via the MINI app. The welcome animation of the front and rear lights begins as soon as the driver is less than 10 feet away; the doors are unlocked when the driver is at a distance of less than five feet. This convenient vehicle experience can be digitally transferred to different users, including their personal vehicle settings.

MINI Styles for an individual look:

For North American customers, the new Classic and Favoured Styles offer a wide range of customization options in keeping with the MINI’s expressive brand personality.  Depending on the trim, the new MINI Cooper and MINI Cooper S are available with different body paint finishes and interior trims. All colours can be combined with one of three roof colours and create a variety of contrasts. An exclusive option in conjunction with the Favoured Trim package is the Spray-Tech design of the distinctive Multitone Roof. This features a three-colour gradient. This unique roof treatment will be available to North American customers starting as of July production of this year. When it comes to wheels, the new MINI Cooper and Cooper S will come with a choice of aerodynamically optimized designs available in 17-inch to 18-inch aluminum rims.

The MINI Cooper S destined for Canada starts production as of April 2024, with a base MSRP of $39,990 CAD.

Munich. On its way to series production, the new model currently must prove itself under extremely high temperatures on sandy desert roads.With an length of 4,075 mm, a width of 1,754 mm and a height of 1,495 mm, the MINI Aceman occupies the position between the MINI Cooper and the MINI Countryman. The third stand-alone model in the new all-electric MINI family is equipped with four doors and a large tailgate. Its interior can accommodate five passengers.

“The all-electric MINI Aceman opens new opportunities for customers who want a smaller crossover than our successful MINI Countryman. The consistent electrification of our product portfolio makes a clear statement about the future of the MINI brand,” says Stefanie Wurst, head of MINI.

Tested under extreme conditions.

After the MINI Aceman has already successfully completed tests at the Arctic Circle, the crossover model is completing final testing in the desert in strong sunlight and heat. In addition to classic features such as driving dynamics and driving comfort, the test team is focusing on the demanding aspects of an electric vehicle. For this purpose, the air conditioning, charging and cooling of the battery, drive and control devices are intensively tested at up to 50° Celsius in dusty desert sand.                                                                           

Fully electric and efficient.

The new MINI Aceman will only be available fully electric. Its battery size is 54.2 kWh. Thanks to the purely electric drive concept, the agile MINI crossover takes up little space on the road and offers a high level of comfort and versatility. The design of the newly developed model is in line with the brand's basic principle: plenty of interior space with the smallest possible external dimensions, agile driving characteristics and efficiency. Behind this is the functional two-box design with short overhangs. This creates maximum space for five passengers and luggage on a minimal floor space.

Munich/Monte Carlo. These days marks the 60th anniversary of one of the most spectacular successes in the history of international motorsport. With Irishman Patrick “Paddy” Hopkirk at the wheel, the Mini Cooper S won the overall standings of the Monte Carlo Rally. Happiness? Coincidence? A quirk of fate? Probably not, because two more victories followed at the Monte Carlo Rally and numerous other successes until the end of the 1960s. Looking back, the reasons for this were: modern technology, top drivers and new logistics standards.

"Paddy Hopkirk's victory in the Mini Cooper S in 1964 marked a turning point in the history of Mini. It proved that the classic Mini was not only a charming city car, but also a successful car in motorsport. This tradition and passion for racing is in our legacy and can still be felt in our models today. Motorsport has shaped Mini and will always remain an important part of our DNA," says Stefanie Wurst, Head of MINI.

Blueprint for modern small cars.

At the end of the 1950s, the rally greats mostly moved in stately and lavishly motorized vehicles through English forests, over French passes or from Liège to Sofia and back again. Austin Healey and Ford Falcon were the benchmark at the rallies and dominated the scene. They weren't really suitable for everyday use. During this time, Alec Issigonis, on behalf of the British Motor Corporation (BMC), built the the most modern car of its time: with its transverse engine and front-wheel drive, the classic Mini met the standard for small cars that is still valid today when it debuted in 1959.

An impressive sports career required a second brilliant car guy: John Cooper. He had achieved fame as a racing driver and wealth as a designer - and he was immediately convinced of the sporting potential of the classic Mini. Cooper, who in his Formula 1 cars did not place the engine in front of the driver, as was usual at the time, but behind him, summed it up to his friend Issigonis, who saw the classic Mini as more of a car for everyone: “That's a damn race car. Give it more power, improve the brakes and build the thing.” The underestimated underdog – a role that MINI has been happy to take on again and again in its more than six decade history – was born.

64 years of the brand, 62 years of motorsport.

The first Mini Cooper was created in 1960 - with an impressive 55 horsepower instead of the 34 horsepower of the original Mini from 1959. As early as 1961, the Mini Cooper, which was just three meters long, turned the world of high-speed drivers upside down. From now on, even the less well-off could tile across the country at least as quickly as the owners of pure sports cars and high-horsepower limousines. And on the rally trails and racing tracks, the little racers with their almost delicate ten-inch wheels won the trophies.

The classic Mini Cooper was tailor-made for the rally routes of the time. Hardly any body overhangs ensured a previously unknown neutral driving behavior.

And thanks to the rather modest 650 kilos that a Rallye Mini weighed at the time, the power-to-weight ratio was quite acceptable with the modest 55 hp. This construction was to become the origin of the famous go-kart feeling.

In May 1962, the classic Mini entered the winners' list of an international rally event for the first time. At the International Tulip Rally, which led from the Dutch municipality of Noordwijk to the French Riviera and back again, Pat Moss, sister of the four-time vice world champion and 16-time Grand Prix winner Stirling Moss, drove the classic Mini Cooper in the fastest time over the route.

Finnish ice speedsters and virtuoso left brakers.

Also in 1962, BMC sports director Stuart Turner signed two talents from the Nordic forests alongside Irishman Paddy Hopkirk: Timo Mäkinen and Rauno Aaltonen. The Finnish ice hustlers and virtuoso left-hand brakers shared a love for hard acceleration - and yet couldn't be more different. Mäkinen was not a fan of many words and went down in history as the Flying Finn. Aaltonen speaks five languages fluently ​​and pursued motorsports with scientific meticulousness, which later earned him the title of rally professor.

From then on, Mini began to reach for the stars. No matter how hopeless a task seems, Mini has always faced competition throughout its long history. The ingenious basic principle of the vehicle and the three top drivers were important pillars of success. Just like the professional logistics developed by Turner. He set new standards in terms of service organization and was the first team boss to send ice spies to the special stages. John Cooper continued to fine-tune the combustion chamber volume and produced 90 hp in the model now called Mini Cooper S after the displacement expansion to 1071 cc defined for the 1100 class.

By the way, the Mini Cooper S was visually similar to any everyday Mini. No sporty tailgate, not even a tachometer, instead a thin plastic steering wheel and spartan seats without lateral support. A shelf instead of the dashboard, external body folds and hinges. Thanks to the economical furnishings, a certain amount of space in a tiny car and an extreme economy of space. In short: a bold simplicity.

Behind every success there is hard work.

Even in the 1960s, it wasn't easy to win the Monte Carlo Rally without any prep work. In 1963, Rauno Aaltonen took his first class win at the Monte. And yet the success in the overall ranking in 1964 was a big surprise for the competitors - the competition seemed too overwhelming. 277 cars took part in the 33rd edition of what is probably the most famous rally in the world. The meticulous preparatory work and the weather conditions with plenty of ice and snow benefited the classic Mini. And so overnight the underdog and frightened favorite not only became a crowd favorite, but also a motorsport legend.

Ice, snow and 34 hairpin bends over a length of 24 km.

It was the legendary “Night of the Long Knives”, the penultimate stage of the rally, that brought the Mini Cooper S with starting number #37 and the since famous license plate 33 EJB to victory in the winter of 1964. During the test at the Col de Turini in the French Maritime Alps, 34 hairpin bends have to be mastered over 24 kilometers - a real challenge in snow and ice at a pass altitude of 1,600 meters. Hopkirk reached the finish line just 17 seconds behind his closest rival, Bo Ljungfeldt, in the much more powerful Ford Falcon with a V8 engine. Due to the handicap formula in force at the time to compensate for differences in weight and performance, the classic Mini was in the lead in the overall ranking. And he also defended his lead in the final circuit race through the streets of Monte Carlo.

In the home country of the classic Mini, the victory was of course celebrated enthusiastically. Hopkirk received a congratulatory telegram from the British government and the Beatles were among the first to congratulate him. “There came an autograph card from the Beatles,” Hopkirk later recalled, which said: “Now you’re one of us, Paddy.” A great memory.” Hopkirk became a motorsport hero overnight and something like the fifth Beatle.

A win can be luck, a winning streak is skill.

The classic Mini continued to dominate the Monte Carlo Rally in subsequent years. Timo Mäkinen won with a big lead just one year later. The displacement expansion to 1275 cubic centimeters also helped. Mäkinen was the only participant who remained free of penalty points over the entire distance. Despite tons of snow and ice, the organizers had scheduled a second night trip through the Maritime Alps. Mäkinen and his Mini Cooper S were unimpressed and won five of the six special stages on the final stage.

In 1966 the supposedly ultimate triumph came when the Mini pilots took places one to three. The race management disqualified all three vehicles because of allegedly non-compliant lighting technology - a technology including the characteristic additional headlights in front of the radiator grille, which is still one of the most popular accessories in the brand's range to this day. Even French rally enthusiasts were embarrassed by the disqualification. It only underlined the legendary status of the classic Mini. From now on, Aaltonen, Mäkinen and Hopkirk were considered the “Three Musketeers” – and sales of the classic Mini skyrocketed. In 1967 Aaltonen took overall victory - and yet the end of an era began to emerge. The following year, Vic Elford won in a Porsche 911 - Aaltonen saved the honor of the classic Mini with third place.

In 1970 it was finally over. The Leyland Group ran into financial difficulties - a magnificent chapter in motorsport history was closed. In July 1971, the last Mini Cooper S rolled off the assembly line.

Proven principles and new models.

The motorsport successes of the early years shaped the brand into the new millennium. And the heritage is carefully maintained and developed further. Front-wheel drive, engines mounted transversely at the front, short body overhangs, agile handling and plenty of space for passengers in a small footprint - elementary characteristics that were transferred from the classic Mini to the new MINI, which has been available since 2001, refined and transformed into the premium segment. New variants such as the MINI Clubman, the MINI Convertible and the MINI Countryman were added - they can all be immediately recognized and experienced as MINI.

Only a few vehicle concepts have survived a similar time span as the MINI. Hardly any other vehicle has achieved such popularity. None of them has ever been implemented in such a wide variety of variants as the MINI. Driving a MINI was and is not just pure transportation, but also an expression of your own style. The classic of automotive history has become a timeless, cross-generational, and class-spanning vehicle.

MINI surprised everyone again – its successes at the Dakar Rally.

And of course, since the takeover by the BMW Group, motorsport and the name John Cooper continue to play an important role. In 2011 and 2012, MINI continued its motorsport history with the John Cooper Works WRC at selected rounds of the FIA ​​World Rally Championship (WRC). From 2012, the MINI ALL4 Racing, designed specifically for marathon rallies, took on a special challenge: the Dakar Rally, the ultimate endurance test for drivers, vehicles and teams. The performance and reliability of the MINI ALL4 Racing led to four consecutive Dakar successes from 2012 to 2015, followed by numbers five and six in 2020 and 2021.

And once again the motorsport world had underestimated the little guy who had always achieved such great things.

The brand name John Cooper Works guarantees outstanding performance not only on the racetrack, but also on the road. John Cooper Works tuning kits for series vehicles were already very popular in the 1970s - they emphasized the most important virtues both visually and technically. A tradition that continues with the new MINI. There are also extreme athletes with the addition of John Cooper Works and an output of up to 225 kW/306 hp.

Private motorsport teams continue the tradition.

The passion for racing still exists and is now lived by private motorsport teams. In 2021, the Bulldog Racing project was created in Nürburg which is dedicated to classic endurance racing. When Bulldog Racing's MINI John Cooper Works made its first appearance at the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring in 2022, the John Cooper Works defied all odds for 40 laps and was taken out of the race after an accident. The combative effort thrilled the fans and the red speedster quickly became a crowd favorite.

In May 2023, in the second 24-hour race, the Bulldog Racing Team achieved a highly acclaimed second place in its class with a MINI John Cooper Works 1to6 Edition at the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring. As one of the few vehicles with a manual transmission, the near-production version relied on classic MINI virtues: low weight, a lot of series and even more emotion. In 2024, the Bulldog Racing Team will be racing in the “Green Hell” again with a MINI John Cooper Works racecar.

On the way to becoming a purely electrically powered brand.

The future of the MINI feeling is almost silent, locally emission-free, but extremely powerful. The MINI Cooper and the the MINI Countryman have been showed already, while the new MINI Aceman, a completely new vehicle that sits between these two models, will follow in the first half of 2024. And the MINI John Cooper Works models are also being gradually electrified - a new chapter in the brand's more than 60-year history.

Richmond Hill, ON.  The enthusiasm for typical MINI driving fun knows no limits. The versatile, powerful, and spacious MINI Countryman S ALL4 offers MINI driving fun on any terrain. The new and largest MINI model combines the flexible options of a crossover with intelligent all-wheel drive. The new MINI Countryman offers noticeably more interior space. Thanks to the rear seat backrest, which can be separated at a ratio of 40:20:40, the luggage compartment offers variable storage options. It has a volume of 450 litres to 1,450 litres (Based on EU measures) and can easily transport bulky objects when the back seat is folded down.

Innovative assistance functions, including partially automated Level 2 driving and extensive digital offerings, support drivers and passengers in new ways. Thanks to an optimized drag coefficient of 0.26 - a new record in its vehicle segment, the new MINI Countryman S ALL4 is both quiet and efficient.

Even more freedom thanks to intelligent all-wheel drive.

The ALL4 all-wheel drive system provides a noticeable increase in traction, safety, driving stability and agility. Thanks to its fast and precise electronic control, the power is distributed between the front and rear wheels as needed under all road and weather conditions.

The slightly increased track width and increased wheelbase form the basis for excellent driving dynamics and increase comfort. For even more driving fun on any surface, new wheel and tire combinations are available for the MINI Countryman.

Direct steering and the combination of single-joint McPherson strut front axle and multi-link rear axle guarantee the unmistakable and typical MINI go-kart feeling. To switch between city traffic and trips into nature, the chassis can be balanced and comfortable or particularly sporty. An adaptive chassis with 15 mm lowering and frequency-selective dampers is optionally available.

In Canada, the MINI Countryman S ALL4 will offer an estimated output of 241 hp and 295 lb.ft of torque with its smooth, two-litre four-cylinder turbo engine.

A new feature of MINI is the option of semi-automated driving on multi-lane routes. This allows the driver to take their hands off the steering wheel at speeds of up to 60 km/h, as long as they continue to closely monitor traffic and is ready to intervene at any time. When changing lanes, the assistant system helps by identifying the gaps in traffic that are necessary on the way to the exit. This then brings the vehicle to optimal speed and automatically initiates the lane change.

More MINI aesthetics with a reduced design language.

Regardless of the terrain — a MINI Countryman is and has always been recognizable as a MINI at first glance. The new design impresses with its particularly clear aesthetics. From the front, the vehicle is characterized by the distinct shape of the bonnet and the new octagonal front grille. MINI LED headlamps accentuate the uniqueness of the reduced design through individual signature modes that can be selected by the driver. The short overhangs and the slim outline are just as typical MINI as the stretched contrasting roof.

The wide and upright stand of the new MINI Countryman underlines its presence and solid off-road character. Vertical rear lights frame the vehicle silhouette and make the new MINI model look particularly upright and sporty.

Breaking new ground with innovative materials.

In the interior of the new MINI Countryman S ALL4, clear shapes underline the new design language. The dashboard with two-tone textile creates a new, warm and welcoming feeling of space. The panoramic glass roof brings more light into the interior, and high-quality comfort seats provide a secure and comfortable grip.

High-quality materials, innovative technology and individually adjustable lighting create an immersive driving experience. One of the highlights of the new MINI Countryman are the MINI Experience Modes. Each mode has its own design and ambient lighting. With a single command, the look and atmosphere of the cockpit is transformed. The various modes emphasize different aspects of the diverse adventurer. The new MINI Driving Sounds create a unique atmosphere that supports personal driving settings particularly emotionally with specially composed sounds.

In the cockpit of the MINI Countryman, the focus is on the high-resolution, round OLED display. With a 9.4 inch diameter and a high-quality glass surface, the instrument cluster sets a new standard. For convenient operation of  the infotainment and assistance systems, the MINI Interaction Unit moved closer to the  driver and passenger. With the new MINI Operating System 9, all vehicle functions can be operated intuitively via touch or voice assistants. The rear of the vehicle is highly versatile and spacious. With the rear seat folded down, even bulky items can be easily transported in the 460 to 1,450 litre luggage compartment (Based on EU measures).

Increased functionality makes for an immersive driving experience.

Drivers can use the toggle switches on the MINI toggle bar just below the OLED round screen to control important  driving functions in addition to select controls on the steering wheel. The central, high-resolution OLED display is home to all other functions. Here, the driver can also select the new MINI Experience Modes and set up their preferred driving ambience using specially designed backgrounds and sounds. The go-kart mode provides a particularly sporty driving experience, and occupants can hear the engine sound with impressive intensity in the cabin. The MINI projector on the back of the OLED display can be used to bathe the dashboard in atmospheric color schemes and patterns that correspond to the selected Experience Mode.

In addition, occupants can use the voice assistant to operate numerous functions, such as navigation, telephone, and entertainment. Voice-controlled interaction takes place on the circular OLED display in the form of an animation of graphic elements, typography, and an avatar.

The all-new MINI Countryman S ALL4 will have a starting base price in Canada of $45,990.  Production for the Canadian market begins March 2024 with first units expected to arrive at dealers in May 2024.

Leipzig. The start of MINI Countryman production marks a number of firsts and milestones for BMW Group Plant Leipzig: for the first time, a MINI model is being made in Germany – on the same production line as the BMW 1 Series and 2 Series. It’s all made possible by the plant’s flexible structures and development. Over the last five years the BMW Group has invested €700 million to ready Leipzig for increased vehicle volumes and adapt it for MINI-specific requirements. By the end of 2024 the workforce in production will increase by over 900. In addition, the new MINI Countryman is a catalyst for innovations in sustainable production.

“By launching production of the MINI Countryman here in Leipzig, we are introducing multibrand operations to our flexible production system,” explained Milan Nedeljković, Board Member for Production. “Plant Leipzig also offers a number of highlights in terms of resource conservation in production, providing further evidence of the successful rollout of our long-term masterplan: the BMW iFACTORY.”

Seamless integration through flexible structures 

When it comes to production of the new MINI Countryman, the BMW Group is building on the skills and extreme flexibility of Plant Leipzig to forge new pathways in manufacturing. Seamlessly integrated into the production process, the MINI Countryman now rolls off the same assembly line as the BMW 1 Series, BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé and BMW 2 Series Active Tourer.

Thanks to its flexible assembly structures, Plant Leipzig is in a position to produce two brands with three different drives – combustion, plug-in-hybrid and fully electric – all on the same production line. The third-generation MINI Countryman will be available with a petrol, diesel or fully electric powertrain, with the high-voltage batteries for the MINI Countryman Electric also being made in Leipzig. It will reach dealerships on 17 February 2024.

Investments and recruitment to increase production volume

The BMW Group has invested some €500 million in Leipzig to increase production volume for new models. Since 2018 the bodyshop, paintshop, assembly and logistics have undergone extensive additions and upgrades, taking production capacity up from 250,000 units previously, to as much as 350,000 units a year at present.

To adapt the production system to MINI-specific requirements, the BMW Group invested around €200 million. Initially approx. 100 MINI Countryman cars a day will roll off the production lines, rising to 500 during the course of next year – in addition to the almost 1,000 BMW cars already coming out of the factory every day. This will not only secure existing jobs but also create up to 900 new ones in vehicle production alone.

Electromobility and MINI production drive development

Another important milestone in the development and extension of Plant Leipzig is its transition to electromobility. “Leipzig remains electric,” says a cheerful Petra Peterhänsel, Plant Director. “With the BMW i3 and i8, we were at the vanguard of e-mobility at the BMW Group, and from 2024, we will be producing our next fully electric car: the MINI Countryman Electric. We will manufacture the high-voltage batteries for it in-house as well.”

Starting next year BMW Group Plant Leipzig will run the entire production process for the current fifth generation of high-voltage batteries. This consists of three stages: cell coating, module production and battery assembly. The five cell coating lines, three module production lines and the first high-voltage battery assembly lines are all in the process of going into operation, with a second high-voltage battery assembly line scheduled for launch in 2024.

Capacity for e-component production has also been increasing, since 2021, making Plant Leipzig an important a supplier across the BMW production network. The parts are used in fully electric vehicles such as the BMW iX1, BMW i4, BMW i5 and BMW iX. E-component production in Leipzig currently employs over 800 people, and there are plans to develop it further, with investments totalling more than €800 million.

Sustainable materials and production 

The MINI Countryman Electric is a major step in the MINI brand’s transition to full electrification by 2030 and combines an electrified go-kart feel with a reduced environmental footprint. In developing the new model, the MINI brand’s responsible attitude was very much in the focus with regard to materials and production: chrome no longer features anywhere in the interior or exterior, and the light-metal alloy wheels are cast from up to 70 percent secondary aluminium. The permanently electrically excited synchronous motors are highly efficient and made entirely without rare earth minerals.

The interior is made purely from innovative, high-quality materials that are easy on the environment. The dashboard, door facias, floor covering and foot mats, for example, are made of recycled textiles. A high-quality alternative to conventional materials such as plastics, recycled textiles reduce CO₂ emissions along the value chain and require less water to manufacture.

Innovative painting method for contrast roof 

One of the striking design features of the MINI exterior is the contrast roof, which can be ordered in a different colour from the rest of the body. In the MINI Countryman it will be painted using a new, resource-friendly method known as overspray-free painting. Currently being readied for series operation, overspray-free painting does away with the excess paint – or overspray – generated by conventional painting methods and makes surfaces with more than one colour easier to produce, as they no longer require the laborious process of masking. Overspray-free painting also helps save CO₂ emissions, as exhaust air from the cabin requires less cleansing. Plus it requires considerably less conditioned air, i.e. air that is brought to a set temperature and humidity. As a result, less energy is needed to temper air and treat exhaust.

Another sustainable innovation operating at Plant Leipzig is the burner technology used to dry the paint on contrast roofs. Last year Leipzig became the first car plant in the world to pilot the new technology, which can run on not only natural gas but also hydrogen. The flexible burners can burn hydrogen (H2), natural gas (methane – CH4) or a mixture of the two and can even switch between them without having to halt operations. After successful tests, Plant Leipzig has now installed five hydrogen-capable bivalent burners for series operations, which are now being used for the contrast roof of the MINI Countryman. Plans are in place to convert further burners in the paintshop to bivalent operations.

Plant Leipzig – Built for sustainability

At Plant Leipzig, the focus has always been very much on efficient processes and a long-term strategy for energy generation and consumption, ever since planning began. “Sustainability is in the DNA of BMW Group Plant Leipzig. There’s one example that everyone can see: our four wind turbines, which generate electricity for the plant,” Petra Peterhänsel explained. They were erected in 2013 and deliver 10 MW (generating approx.  25 GWh/year). The second milestone came in 2017, when the battery storage farm went on stream. Equipped with up to 700 second-life high-voltage batteries from BMW i3 vehicles, it offers interim electricity storage for energy from the wind turbines and elsewhere, helping to optimise local energy management and stabilise the grid.

“Our vision at Plant Leipzig is to decarbonise production as far as possible by replacing fossil fuels with green hydrogen,” said Petra Peterhänsel, explaining the long-term focus of the facility. This will require sufficient green hydrogen from a grid. A regional hydrogen grid is currently in planning, with Plant Leipzig set to benefit.

With its sleek design, the new MINI John Cooper Works Countryman has a drag coefficient of just 0.26, making it one of the most aerodynamic cars in its class. This helps the engine, which generates 312 hp, to accelerate the car from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds. The 295 lb-ft of torque and top speed of 250 km/h make for an exhilarating driving experience.

Exceptional performance makes dynamic driving a joy.
The standard all-wheel drive system distributes its power precisely and reliably in every driving situation. A high-performance braking system with brake calipers in Chili Red colour ensures powerful and precise deceleration. The characteristic sound of the exhaust flap system also makes the MINI John Cooper Works Countryman instantly recognisable as a high-performance model. Inside, the engine sound generated in real time enhances the emotional driving experience. An exclusive JCW sound extension boosts the sound of the engine start and intensifies the soundscape with racing-inspired engine sounds.

Optimised pistons, connecting rods and engine mounts extract maximum power from the two-litre turbo engine. An advanced, dual-drive exhaust turbocharger supercharges the engine. Together with the dethrottled air intake to the combustion chamber, this enables the MINI John Cooper Works Countryman to generate beefy performance and delivers an even more dynamic driving experience in every bend. The tyre diameter, which has been increased by 30 mm, is now 710 mm and the increased tyre width of 245 mm enhances the typical MINI go-kart feeling. Aerodynamically optimised 19 and 20-inch wheels, exclusive to JCW, round off the extensive range.

Advanced assistance systems provide added comfort.
The new MINI JCW Countryman features 12 ultrasonic sensors and four surround-view cameras in total. They support the innovative driver assistance systems and enable partially automated Level 2 driving in the comprehensive Driving Assistant Professional option package. The assistant can detect gaps in the traffic necessary for changing lanes heading towards an exit and brings the vehicle to the optimum speed for the assisted lane change. For the first time, drivers in the MINI Countryman can take their hands off the steering wheel on highway-like routes at speeds of up to 60 km/h, provided they continue to keep a close eye on traffic and remain ready to intervene at any time.

Great stature on any terrain.
The new MINI John Cooper Works Countryman has a bold and sporty look that reflects its performance and versatility. The exterior features a number of model-specific details that enhance its overall appearance. For example, the aerodynamic elements with vertical reflectors on the front of the car emphasise its wide stance, while the new MINI LED headlights with horizontal bars in JCW Signature Mode give the crossover a more expressive look. The front end is also characterised by the newly designed octagonal grille in high-gloss black and the newly designed three-colour JCW logo.

The newly designed C-pillar seamlessly joins the contrasting roof in motorsport-inspired Chili Red. The roof curves down towards the rear, giving the MINI JCW Countryman an agile silhouette despite its increased height and width.
The high-contrast exterior design, combined with the Legend Grey body colour, emphasises the sporty look of the model. At the rear, the upright John Cooper Works Signature Mode tail lights frame the upright vehicle body and underline the increased width.

Minimalist interior features racing DNA.
In the interior, the new MINI John Cooper Works Countryman inspires with a reduced design. The cockpit is divided into an upper and lower section, with vertical door handles and air vents in the upper area. This emphasizes the upright and larger overall impression of the spacious crossover. The red and black colour scheme at the dashboard, along the door panels and on the high-grade JCW sports seats, is a nod to MINI's racing heritage. The dashboard is made of a two-tone textile made from recycled polyester.

The rear of the vehicle is highly versatile and spacious. The rear row of seats can be adjusted in length by up to 13 centimetres. With the rear seat folded down, even bulky items can be easily transported in the 460 litre to 1,450 litre luggage compartment.

Increased functionality makes for an immersive driving experience.
You can use the toggle switches on the MINI toggle bar to control all driving functions. The central, high-resolution OLED display is home to all the other functions. Here, you can also select the new MINI Experience Modes and set up your preferred driving ambience using specially designed backgrounds and sounds. The go-kart mode provides a particularly sporty driving experience, and you can hear the engine sound with impressive intensity in the cabin. The MINI projector on the back of the OLED display can be used to bathe the dashboard in atmospheric colour schemes and patterns that correspond to the selected Experience Mode.

In addition, you can use the voice assistant to operate numerous functions, such as navigation, telephone, and entertainment. Voice-controlled interaction takes place on the circular OLED display in the form of an animation of graphic elements, typography, and an avatar.

The all-new MINI John Cooper Works Countryman will have a starting price in Canada of $56,290 CAD. Production for the Canadian market is set to begin in March 2024 with first units expected to arrive at dealers early May 2024.

The season finale of the Rundstrecken-Challenge Nürburgring 2023, one of the most exciting motorsport events in Germany, provided Bulldog Racing with the perfect opportunity to present the new John Cooper Works logo in action. The dynamic design of the logo reflects the performance of John Cooper Works and was impressively displayed in the midst of the exciting, but rainy racing action.

The new John Cooper Works logo represents passion and the sporty character of the brand. It will replace the previous JCW logo on all vehicles in the new MINI family unveiled in September. "The new John Cooper Works logo is an expression of the boundless enthusiasm and pride we feel for John Cooper Works. John Cooper Works and motorsport play a central role in the DNA of MINI. They will continue to drive our innovative spirit and creativity in the future" says Stefanie Wurst, MINI Brand Director.

The MINI John Cooper Works Edition with 6-speed manual transmission and the starting number #616, presented a solid performance throughout the wet race and finished 53rd, out of 158 cars started after 13 laps driven. In the class for production-based cars with a displacement of 1,600 to 2,000 cc and turbochargers, the black MINI John Cooper Works Edition finished 13th out of 23 cars that started.

Sebastian Sauerbrei (GER) and Friedhelm Thelen (GER) raced the MINI John Cooper Works Edition. Sebastian Sauerbrei achieved his personal best placement in a 24-hour race this year behind the wheel of this exact car. Friedhelm Thelen is a Nürburgring expert and team boss of Bulldog Racing.

Oxford. BMW Group has announced today a new investment of more than £600 million in the MINI factories at Oxford and Swindon. “With this new investment we will develop the Oxford plant for production of the new generation of electric MINIs and set the path for purely electric car manufacturing in the future,” says Milan Nedeljković, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for production.

The Oxford plant is gearing-up to build two new all-electric MINI models from 2026, the MINI Cooper 3-door and the compact crossover MINI Aceman. By 2030 production volume will be exclusively electric and the BMW Group will have spent over £3bn on its Swindon, Hams Hall and Oxford plants since 2000.
This development has been supported by the UK Government and will help to secure jobs at the Oxford manufacturing plant and at the body-pressing facility in Swindon.

Business and Trade Secretary Kemi Badenoch says, “This decision is a big vote of confidence in the UK economy and the work of this Government to ensure the continued strength of our world-leading automotive sector. We are proud to be able to support BMW Group’s investment, which will secure high-quality jobs, strengthen our supply chains and boost Britain’s economic growth.”

Oxford to remain the Home of MINI.
The Oxford plant celebrated its 110th anniversary this year and has been successfully producing the current MINI Electric since 2019, where it is fully integrated into the production line with the conventional (ICE) models.

Stefanie Wurst, Head of the MINI brand, says, “MINI has always been aware of its history – Oxford is and remains the heart of the brand. I am delighted that the two new, fully electric MINI models – the MINI Cooper and MINI Aceman – are also being produced in Oxford, thereby confirming our path to a fully electric future. The continuing high demand for our locally emission-free vehicles shows the openness of the global MINI community to electromobility, which we will be able to serve optimally, also thanks to Oxford”.

MINI accelerates toward full electrification with new model line-up and enhanced production network.
The MINI Plant Oxford currently produces the MINI 3-door, the MINI 5-door as well as the MINI Clubman and the MINI Electric. From 2024 the plant will start producing the next generation MINI 3-door and MINI 5-door with combustion engines, as well as the new MINI Convertible, before they are joined by the new all-electric vehicles in 2026 – the MINI Cooper 3-door and the MINI Aceman.

The factory will reach a production capacity of around 200,000 cars per year in the medium term, with ICE and battery electric vehicles initially being built on the same production line. From 2030, the Oxford Plant will produce all-electric MINI models exclusively.

In a few weeks, production of the new MINI Countryman will begin at the BMW Group plant Leipzig. This larger crossover model in the MINI line-up, will be offered with both pure electric drive and combustion engines.

Production of the next generation all-electric MINI Cooper 3-door and MINI Aceman will begin in China. The new manufacturing plant in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu Province is based on a joint venture with Great Wall Motor. Exports will begin in early 2024.

Consistently advancing the all-electric model portfolio.

Since the relaunch of the brand at the turn of the millennium, the MINI has not only developed into a premium vehicle, but it has also reinvented itself time and again without neglecting its own origins and tradition. The new MINI models interpret design features with impressive clarity.

The new MINI family takes driving fun, the user experience, and the responsible attitude of the brand into a new era, a comprehensive transformation that is reflected in the new design language “Charismatic Simplicity”. This combines the traditional MINI values with progressive innovations in a particularly authentic way, reducing the vehicle design to the essentials. The new models of the MINI family share a purist design that takes equal account of the urban character of MINI and the innovative spirit of the MINI community.

Short overhangs, a short bonnet, a long wheelbase, and big wheels – the proportions of the new model generation are typical MINI. The visual three-part division into the vehicle body, the surrounding window area and the contrasting roof also ensures the new MINI models are instantly recognisable. The surfaces of the all-electric MINI Cooper and the MINI Countryman look particularly exciting thanks to the integrative treatment of details. Flush door handles, the absence of fender flares and side scuttles underline the clear and modern overall impression. The clearly defined shoulder area gives the new MINI models a decidedly athletic vehicle body.

The vehicle's character, which is as agile as it is compact, is reinforced by new daytime running light elements for the LED headlights and the Matrix LED taillights with three different settings on all new vehicle models. These individual light signatures each support different aspects of the car body design and interact with the environment by means of a special welcome and farewell light animation.

The all-electric MINI Cooper: the reinvention of the original.

Going into its fifth model generation, the MINI Cooper 3-door still embodies the core of the brand. As an all-electric vehicle, the new MINI is available in the Cooper E variant and as the Cooper SE, featuring higher output and range. Within the new MINI family, “Cooper” refers to all MINI 3-door and 5-door models, and also the MINI Convertible. It is no longer used as an engine specification. The classic round headlights and the striking octagonal grille are the dominant features of the front section, making the model the characteristic face of MINI.

The distinctively structured bonnet contributes to the intriguing surface design. Black side sills visually move the all-electric MINI Cooper closer to the road. Four different trims – Essential, Classic, Favoured and JCW – serve the purpose of differentiation, each giving the new MINI its own distinct character.

The 135 kW/184 hp (Estimated) electric motor in the MINI Cooper E generates a torque of 290 Nm and accelerates the vehicle from standstill to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. With an estimated output of 160 kW/218 hp, the MINI Cooper SE sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds with a maximum torque of 330 Nm. The range determined in the WLTP test cycle is an estimated 305 kilometres for the MINI Cooper E and 402 kilometres for the MINI Cooper SE. *

The interior: minimalist, digital, immersive & warm.

In the interior, the design of the front section harks back to the elegantly minimalist design of the classic Mini with a slim and generous dashboard and a multifunction steering wheel for hallmark MINI go-kart feeling. The central OLED display, the MINI Interaction Unit, sets a new standard with its high resolution and contributes to the heightened presence of the circular instrument, which has a diameter of 240 millimetres.

The new MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant can be activated by saying the words “Hey MINI”. Being able to control numerous functions with voice control increases comfort, facilitating greater concentration on driving. The newly designed reduced toggle bar with five switches includes all driving functions and is ideally positioned for the driver below the circular instrument. The gearshift has been eliminated to create additional storage space between the front seats. In the wireless charging area in this storage space, mobile devices can be charged and conveniently accessed at any time.

The new interior experience is mainly created by the textile surfaces. A specially developed knitting process is used to create the easy-care, versatile structure of the two-colour textile. Optionally, up to seven MINI Experience Modes bring the dashboard to life. Special light projections extend the colours of the round instrument across the dashboard, expanding the overall experience of the user interface in the interior. The new cockpit customisation options add a personal feel-good factor to the interior of the new MINI Cooper.

All trims of the all-electric MINI Cooper feature seats in high-quality Vescin artificial leather, while all textiles and yarns for the seat, knitted surfaces, vehicle headliner and floor are made from recycled materials.

The new MINI Countryman: all-electric and adventurous.

Higher, longer, MINI – with an additional six centimetres in height and thirteen centimetres in length, the new MINI Countryman has grown noticeably compared to its predecessor, offering even more space and comfort. Wider wheel arches and a clear, modern design enhance the crossover aesthetic appeal of the rugged MINI adventurer. The elegant design of the C-pillar differs according to the vehicle trim and is based on one of the vehicle’s four roof colours. The upright shape of the new Matrix taillights frame the rear of the vehicle. Below the model lettering, the body tapers across the entire width and, together with the striking, all-round vehicle band in black, emphasises the enhanced presence of the new MINI Countryman.

The 150 kW/204 hp (Est.) electric motor in the MINI Countryman E generates a torque of 250 Nm and accelerates the car from standstill to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds. With 230 kW/313 hp (Est.), the electric motors of the all-wheel drive MINI Countryman SE ALL4 generate a combined torque of 494 Nm in total and accelerate the vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. The range determined according to the WLTP test cycle is an estimated 462 kilometres for the MINI Countryman E and 433 kilometres for the MINI Countryman SE ALL4. *

The interior: individual, multifunctional and full of high-level comfort.

In the interior, the versatile new MINI Countryman is the largest and most spacious MINI model available thanks to its high degree of adaptability. The clearly designed dashboard and the door panels are covered with woven textile surfaces. Their design is coordinated with eight different MINI Experience Modes: these maximise the options for individualising the interior by means of light projections, a customisable user interface and new engine sounds.

The MINI Operating System 9, which has been optimised for touch and voice control, together with the central OLED display with a diameter of 240 millimetres and many new, digital additional functions in the MINI Connected Package, noticeably raises the level of hallmark MINI driving fun in the cockpit of the new MINI Countryman. This also becomes apparent in the newly designed multifunction steering wheel with two-spoke design and optional textile strap instead of the classic lower spoke. Compared to the MINI Cooper, the air outlets in the cockpit are arranged vertically and, together with the upright dashboard, emphasise the character of the new MINI Countryman.

As in the exterior, the vertically mounted door handles in the interior are integrated flush with the surfaces. In combination with the tinted panoramic glass roof and the clear, reduced shapes of the front seats and rear seat, the ambience in the new MINI Countryman is particularly bright and spacious. The increased body size provides additional headroom and legroom, expanding the space options in the compact premium Crossover. The four available trims – Essential, Classic, Favoured and JCW – offer different design and equipment levels and give the new MINI Countryman a distinctive character.
