Richmond Hill, ON. Two become one: the BMW XM
portfolio is sharpening its focus, now offering just a single model;
the BMW XM Label.

The BMW XM Label combines astonishing power and an advanced drive
concept. Its M HYBRID system consists of a V8 with a peak output of
577 hp and an electric motor integrated into the eight-speed M
Steptronic transmission delivering up to 194 hp. With a total system
output of 738 hp and a combined torque of 738 lb-ft, the BMW XM Label
is the most powerful BMW M production model ever. It takes just 3.8
seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h and has an electronically
limited top speed of 290 km/h with the M Driver’s Package, which is
standard in Canada. With its exhilarating performance and
uncompromisingly extravagant design, the BMW XM Label enjoys a unique
place in the luxury segment.

The most powerful roadgoing BMW of all time sets new standards with
its extroverted design while demonstrating why BMW M stands for The
Ultimate Driving Machine. This is a view shared by world-famous
British musician, techno and house DJ Carl Cox. In a joint project
with BMW M, he has woven the sounds of the BMW XM – such as the
powerful bass of the V8, the Welcome chime, and the sound of the hood
closing – into an aural celebration. The result underscores Carl Cox’s
passion for BMW M automobiles and is just as unique, extroverted, and
confident as the XM itself.

New equipment options, increased charging rate.

The BMW XM Label now offers additional options for customizing the
exterior and interior. Newly available, for example, is the optional
BMW Individual Frozen Tanzanite Blue metallic paint, which beautifully
highlights the XM’s unique design characteristics. A new Welcome Light
Animation makes the BMW XM Label look especially impressive after
dark. And 23-inch M alloy wheels style 1096 M are now available in a
Jet Black finish.

Inside, customers can choose from three new Interior Worlds; BMW
Individual Night Blue Full Merino Leather with Vintage Coffee accents,
BMW Individual Black Full Merino Leather with Vintage Coffee accents,
and BMW Individual Silverstone Extended Merino leather with Black
accents. The rear seat comfort cushions matching the color of the seat
surfaces now come as standard for all BMW Individual Merino Leather upholsteries.

The charging rate of the BMW XM Label increases as well: the M HYBRID
system’s Combined Charging Unit now enables AC charging at up to 11
kW, up from 7.4 kW.

The 2026 BMW XM Label will be unveiled on Saturday, June 14, at the
24 Hours of Le Mans. BMW M Motorsport will be competing on the
legendary French circuit with the BMW M Hybrid V8 in the FIA World
Endurance Championship (FIA WEC).

Production at BMW’s Plant Spartanburg in South Carolina will begin in
August 2025 and will bepriced from $220,000 CAD.

offers a first look at the car, which will be manufactured as a
one-of-one vehicle and presented at Art Basel Miami 2024, taking place
from December 6-8 at the Miami Beach Convention Center, alongside
another unique piece, Ronnie Fieg's 1981 BMW M1 E26. A new Kith for
BMW collection of apparel and lifestyle products will also be launched.

Following the edition vehicles designed by Ronnie Fieg based on the
BMW M4 Competition Coupé* from 2020 and the BMW i4 M50 xDrive* from
2022, BMW and Kith are once again dedicating the latest chapter of
their partnership to an exceptional BMW M automobile. The BMW XM,
which is also the first original BMW M automobile since the BMW M1
produced from 1978 to 1981, features the newly developed M HYBRID
drive system for the first time. The BMW XM features striking details
inspired by the design of the legendary mid-engined sports car, such
as the side accent strips, the two BMW emblems at the rear and the
louvre structure of the rear lights.

2025 BMW XM by Kith: 47 units, historic colour, exclusive details.

The 2025 BMW XM by Kith will be produced in a limited edition of 47
units, reflecting the number of years that have passed since the debut
of the BMW M1. It will be delivered in the second half of 2025 to
enthusiasts and collectors of particularly exclusive BMW M
automobiles. The edition vehicles will be offered with BMW Individual
Frozen Techno Violet metallic paint finish, which is also based on
historical models. This paint finish, specially developed by Kith for
the 2025 BMW XM by Kith, will only ever be used for this limited
edition model and will never be used by BMW again, making this edition
truly special. Alternatively, BMW Individual Frozen Black metallic
paint finish (paint code U91) is also available for the 2025 BMW XM by Kith.

The paintwork and numerous special design features emphasise the
particularly dynamic proportions of a modern Sports Activity Vehicle
and the expressive lines that characterise the BMW XM. The 2025 BMW XM
by Kith features black side window graphics and accent strips. The
outline of the model inscriptions on the front, rear and side, as well
as the outline of the Kith logo, combined with the characteristic M
stripes on the rear of the edition vehicles, are finished in Techno
Violet metallic. The 2025 BMW XM by Kith comes as standard with
23-inch M light-alloy wheels in star-spoke design with Jet Black finish.

In the interior, the modern sports car cockpit of the BMW XM by Kith
is complemented by exclusive details in the striking aesthetics of the
Kith label. The illuminated door sills feature the special “1/47”
insignia, denoting how rare each car is. The velour floor mats and the
control centre on the centre console all feature the Kith logo with
the M stripes.
An illuminated version can also be seen under the
headrests of the M multifunction driver and passenger seats. The seat
surfaces in the BMW Individual Merino leather finish feature an
embossed Kith monogram pattern, as does the armrest of the centre
console. Another detail can be found in the control display of the
edition vehicles. A special widget includes the official BMW XM by
Kith vehicle name, the “1/47” insignia and the Kith logo with the M stripes.

The M Lounge in the rear of the 2025 BMW XM by Kith also creates a
personal atmosphere in the vehicle. Embossed Kith monogram on the seat
surfaces and two cushions with the label's logo add to the personal
touch. Together with the pre-set purple interior lighting, a special
atmosphere is created that is appropriate for the edition vehicle.

A Kith duffle bag, designed and manufactured exclusively by Kith for
the edition vehicles, is included as standard to stylishly accommodate
the included charging cables.

The 2025 BMW XM by Kith will be launched on December 6th
at 5 PM CET on http://www.bmw-m.com/XM-by-KITH.

World premiere in Miami Beach: The 2025 BMW XM Kith Concept.

BMW and Kith will present a concept car, also designed by Ronnie
Fieg. The exterior and interior of the 2025 BMW XM Kith Concept have
been created by Fieg in collaboration with BMW to express both the
distinctive character and exclusive sportiness of the high-performance
model in a particularly intense way. Free from all the conventions of
production car homologation, he designed a sophisticated lighting
concept, in which the colour purple plays a central role, matching the
BMW Individual Frozen Techno Violet metallic paint finish. The 2025
BMW XM Kith Concept's side accent strips consist of black backlit
strips, each of which contains 363 full-color LED units distributed
along its entire length. When activated, these create a dynamically
animated purple glow around the Kith lettering. The decor elements on
the side panels also feature a backlit Kith logo.

LED units are also used in the headlights to create a purple colour
scheme. The Kith logo can also be displayed on the glass covers of the
main headlights using LED matrix displays for the low beam headlights.
The 2025 BMW XM Kith Concept also features an M radiator grille Iconic
Glow with purple contour lighting and a paint finish enriched with
purple colour pigments for the 23-inch light-alloy wheels.

As a nod to its motorsport lineage, and to pay homage to the M1’s
design, the 2025 BMW XM Kith Concept has been lowered by 30
millimetres at the front and 35 millimetres at the rear, while the
track on both axles has been widened by 40 millimetres. This was
accomplished thanks to the use of special springs and wheel spacers.

Inside the concept car, M Carbon bucket seats replace the M
multifunction seats of the 2025 BMW XM by Kith. They also feature
surfaces with embossed Kith monogram and illuminated Kith emblems
combined with the M stripes in the area of the headrests.

Reconstructing a legend: 1981 BMW M1 E26 by Ronnie Fieg.

To place both the concept car and the limited edition of 47 2025 BMW
XM by Kith in a historical context, another unique model will be
presented to the public for the first time in Miami Beach. The 1981
BMW M1 E26 by Ronnie Fieg is an extensively reconstructed one-of-one
example of the sports car with specific details from the design
repertoire of the Kith label.

The car, which bears the model designation, year of manufacture and
internal model series code as well as the name of the Kith founder was
according to Ronnie Fieg's ideas. A Techno Violet paint finish (paint
code 299), the combined M and Kith emblem on the tailgate and an
interior with embossed Kith lettering create new design parallels
between Ronnie Fieg's 1981 BMW M1 E26 and the 2025 BMW XM Kith
Concept, in addition to the similarities in the design of the
production vehicles. Their joint appearance in Miami Beach thus forms
a bridge between the first and the last model to be developed and
produced exclusively as a BMW M in the more than 50 years of the
company's history.

Kith for BMW: Classic BMW design motifs reinterpreted in a new
fashion and lifestyle collection.

The presentation of the vehicles designed by Ronnie Fieg in Miami
Beach will be accompanied by the launch of a new Kith for BMW apparel
and lifestyle collection. The collection includes a wide range of
products that take classic BMW design motifs and reinterpret them in
Kith's signature style. In addition to the brand emblems and model
inscriptions, the colours Techno Violet, Cinnabar Red and Vitality
Green, which are used in the current cooperation and in previous joint
projects, give the products in the collection an unmistakable look.

The apparel range includes premium jackets in Italian leather,
double-sided wool and silky suede, as well as co-branded jumpers,
hoodies, rugby shirts, trousers and a range of vintage-inspired
T-shirts. The collection also includes a range of premium lifestyle
accessories including caps and hats, key fobs and licence plates,
leather driving gloves, microfibre towels and cushions, floor mats and
carpets, as well as BMW and Kith branded card cases, mugs, trays,
umbrellas and snowboards.

A 1:18 scale model of the 2025 BMW XM by Kith is a particular
highlight of the collection. In addition to the BMW Individual Frozen
Techno Violet metallic body colour, the miniature features numerous
other details based on the edition vehicle, including model lettering
on the M radiator grille with purple trim and Kith logos on the rear
doors, door sills and seats.

The scale model of the new edition vehicle will also be produced in a
limited edition and can be ordered exclusively from the BMW
Lifestyle Shop. The complete Kith for BMW collection will be
available on December 6th at all Kith shops worldwide,
including the Kith for BMW Showcase pop-up in Miami Beach, as well as
online at 5 PM CET on www.kith.com.

Press Contact: Marc Belcourt
Tel: +1-905-428-5078
E-mail: marc.belcourt@bmwgroup.ca

Press Release,Lifestyle Products,G09,XM,Product,BMW M

Munich/Cannes. Glittering movie premieres, stars
gracing the red carpet and a high-performance vehicle that looks like
nothing else: this is the ##Cannes Film Festival## and yesterday it
hosted the world premiere of the ##BMW XM Mystique Allure##. This
one-off creation is based on the first high-performance sports car
from ##BMW M GmbH## powered by the ##M HYBRID## drive system. Blending
progressive luxury with extravagant looks, it is inspired by British
supermodel ##Naomi Campbell##, was designed using exclusive materials
from the world of haute couture and has a unique soundtrack devised in
cooperation with film score composer Hans Zimmer.

The BMW XM Mystique Allure is the latest product of the collaboration
between BMW and Naomi Campbell. The partnership took its first steps
last year with the “Dare to be You” launch campaign for the ##BMW
XM##, which puts the confidence to be yourself and go your own way at
centre stage.

The BMW XM Mystique Allure and Naomi Campbell: making a grand
entrance at Cannes.

The 77th Cannes Film Festival was the ideal choice of setting for the
world premiere of the BMW XM Mystique Allure. Against the stunning
backdrop of the French portside resort, Naomi Campbell presented the
one-of-a-kind creation inspired by her to an audience of selected
guests, before making her way in the car to the red
carpet outside the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès.
“Witnessing BMW's vision for the BMW XM Mystique Allure come to life
has been truly incredible,” says Naomi. “I feel deeply honoured to
have sparked the inspiration for their first-ever high-fashion show
car, which stands as a unique masterpiece in every aspect.”

This is the third year in succession that BMW has stepped up as
Official Automotive Partner of the Cannes Film Festival. And it will
lay on an exclusive shuttle service of more than 200 vehicles – among
them the all-electric BMW i7, BMW iX and BMW i5, and the
plug-in-hybrid BMW XM – to give participants and guests at the event
the experience of locally emission-free premium mobility.

First BMW designed with high-fashion materials.

The BMW XM Mystique Allure is the first vehicle in the brand’s
history to be designed using materials from the high fashion industry.
This unusual tie-up showcases the BMW XM in a whole new light:
expressive, avant-garde – and stylish and luxurious in equal measure.

Inspired by Naomi’s favourite colour, the vehicle’s exterior boasts a
deeply saturated ultramarine shade, accentuated by a lustrous matte
finish. A contemporary translation of high-fashion materials from
luxury textile manufacturers, the design seamlessly brings the inside
to the outside, featuring rich velvet and shimmering Frozen
metallic sequins casting hues ranging from intense violet to
deep ultramarine.

The iridescent surfaces were created with precise handcraftsmanship
and a fine eye for detail. They take their cues from the eye-catching
geometric forms of the BMW XM and bring a special visual richness to
the car’s extrovert aesthetic. The design of the BMW XM Mystique
Allure provides a meeting point for high performance and haute
couture, and paints a unique picture of progressive luxury that
continues into the interior. All of the surfaces inside the car,
including the M Lounge in the rear, are covered in purple velvet.

BMW IconicSounds Electric: exclusive driving sound from the
collaboration with Hans Zimmer.

The bold appearance of the BMW XM Mystique Allure is complemented by
an acoustic character also very much its own. At its heart is a
bespoke adaptation of the BMW IconicSounds Electric developed as part
of the collaboration between BMW Group Sound Design and film score
composer Hans Zimmer.

The driving track created for the Naomi Campbell-inspired one-off
projects the supreme confidence of the car’s exterior design onto the
soundscape of locally emission-free driving. In the M HYBRID drive
system’s all-electric operating mode, every movement of the
accelerator is accompanied by an emotionally engaging sound that
authentically represents the car’s outstanding performance and
magnetic visual allure.

The BMW XM: the most powerful series-produced model from BMW M GmbH.

The BMW XM is the first model since the legendary BMW M1 to be
conceived solely as a standalone high-performance car from BMW M GmbH.
It blends dynamic potency with innovative luxury and an enticingly
extravagant design composed of muscular proportions and powerful
contours. Two-piece split headlight units, Iconic Glow contour
lighting for the BMW kidney grille, accent bands along the sides of
the car, light-alloy wheels up to 23 inches in size and the vertically
stacked and hexagonally formed pairs of exhaust tailpipes integrated
into the rear apron ensure the exterior of the XM has an inimitable
visual presence.

The BMW XM is also breaking new ground with its M HYBRID system,
which has made the XM the first high-performance car from BMW M GmbH
to feature an electrified drive system. In BMW XM Label Red form
(electric power and petrol consumption – weighted, combined:
33.5 kWh/100 km and 2.0 l/100 km [141.2 mpg imp]; CO2
emissions – weighted, combined: 45 g/km (WLTP); fuel consumption with
discharged battery: 12.9 l/100 km [21.9 mpg imp] as per WLTP;
CO2 classes: with discharged battery G; weighted, combined
B), the plug-in hybrid model – with its maximum output of
550 kW/748 hp – is also the most powerful series-produced, road-legal
car yet produced by BMW M GmbH.

---

Official fuel consumption, CO2 emissions, electric power
consumption and electric range figures were determined based on the
prescribed measurement procedure in accordance with European
Regulation (EC) 2007/715 in the version applicable. Where a range is
shown, the WLTP figures take into account the impact of any optional
extras
Only official figures based on the WLTP procedure are
available for new models that have been type tested since 01.01.2021.
In addition, according to EU Regulation 2022/195, the NEDC values will
no longer be included in the EC certificates of conformity as of
01.01.2023. Further information on the WLTP and NEDC measurement
procedures can also be found at www.bmw.de/wltp.
Further
information on official fuel consumption figures and specific
CO2 emission values of new passenger cars is included in

CO2-Emissionen and den Stromverbrauch neuer Personenkraftwagen' (Guide
to the fuel economy, CO2 emissions and electric power
consumption of new passenger cars), which can be obtained free of

Munich/Indio. Bursting with colour, fizzing with
energy and overflowing with confidence: the exhilarating atmosphere of
the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in California and the
spectacular landscape and architecture of the Coachella Valley provide
the ideal setting in which to showcase the unique design of the BMW XM
to stunning effect. With its dynamic lines, expansive surfaces,
muscular proportions and sharp edges, the first electrified
high-performance model from BMW M GmbH exudes presence and confidence.
And the visually impactful design of the Sports Activity Vehicle gains
even greater intensity with the addition of exclusive BMW Individual
special paint finishes.

Colour shades including BMW Individual Urban Green, BMW Individual
Petrol Mica metallic, BMW Individual Anglesey Green metallic and
BMW Individual Sepia metallic give the extravagance of the BMW XM a
very personal note. This visually imposing spectrum of colours – all
beguiling shimmer effects and arresting deep gloss – provide a dynamic
counterpoint to the spectacular desert landscape and modern take on
mid-century architecture that give the Coachella Valley its inimitable aura.

Collaboration with co-creators produces emotionally engaging
images with a unique aesthetic.

An international and diverse team of artists, creatives and
sportspeople like Icelandic actor and former professional footballer
Rúrik Gíslason, German rapper Badmómzjay and TikTok luminary Lena
Mantler feed off the unique vibe and the easy glamour of the Valley to
inspire each other, build multimedia content for their social media
channels and frame the BMW XM in a new light. The line-up of
international stars is joined by a broader circle of key opinion
leaders from the worlds of music, art and sport – the likes of Jon
Batiste, Yusra Mardini, Nemanja Gasic, Chase Hudson, ARTLANTA, Chris
Brickley and Gashi.

2024 sees BMW and Coachella partnering up for the sixth time. Through
its cultural engagement, the Bavarian premium carmaker seeks to engage
with up-and-coming creatives at the cutting edge and influential key
opinion leaders from various spheres, while also offering a platform
for co-creators to express themselves with full authenticity. Photo
and video sessions are both on the agenda at Coachella, with locations
in the festival’s immediate surroundings and beyond sure to inspire
some amazing work.

Located to the east of Los Angeles, the Coachella Valley is known for
its scenically captivating contrast of rugged desert landscape and
green oases dotted with date palms. As well as its numerous dapper
cafés and bars, the character of the Valley is shaped most prominently
by modern villas in an expansive bungalow style. The iconic
architecture here and the proximity to unspoilt nature provide a
canvas for photos and video with an incomparable aesthetic and create
the perfect backdrop for a progressive vehicle like the BMW XM.

BMW XM: Poster boy for the successful combination of luxurious
high performance and electrification.

With its confident use of form, extremely comfortable interior and
advanced plug-in hybrid drive system, the BMW XM represents the
optimal combination of luxury, high performance and electrification.
Depending on the model variant, its M HYBRID system uses a powerful
six-cylinder in-line engine or a punchy petrol V8. Add the adaptive M
suspension Professional and M xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive
system with M Sport differential (both standard) to the mix and the
BMW XM serves up potent dynamics and eye-catching figures for the 0 to
100 km/h (62 mph) sprint.

With its bold exterior design, the BMW XM also makes a big statement
for individual lifestyle, the high-quality BMW Individual special
paint finishes increasing the scope for personalisation further still.
All BMW Individual special paint finishes are applied in a separate
manufacturing process – with a higher proportion of the work carried
out by hand – and benefit from an ultra-precise surface treatment.
This meticulous finish ensures an impressive depth of colour and
exceptional lustre.

Munich. BMW is returning to Coachella for the fifth
time in 2023, this year celebrating the launch of the new BMW XM Label
in big-impact style. The company is building on the success of its
recently launched “Dare to be you” campaign, in which it asks cultural
leaders like supermodel Naomi Campbell, British grime artist Skepta,
German rapper Apache 207, New York-based fashion designer Bloody
Osiris and professional skateboarder Ishod Wair to express who they
really are – with the new BMW XM standing alongside.

Following the kick-off event at Art Basel Miami Beach, BMW is taking
the campaign to the next stage with a Coachella spin. An international
mix of emerging talents and household names provide the BMW XM with a
new creative context. Coachella performers like Charli XCX, Earthgang
and Uncle Waffles, plus German rapper du jour Badmomzjay, Grammy Award
winner Nija Charles and South Korean choreographer Leejung Lee, will
record their initial encounters with the first electrified
high-performance model from BMW M GmbH in their own individual style:
Dare to be you.

BMW in the spotlight as it helps to shape the zeitgeist.

BMW has a clear mission: to create a platform where cultural pioneers
can truly show us what they’re all about. As Stefan Ponikva, Vice
President Brand Communication, Brand Experience, says: “Our goal at
BMW is to be at the heart of where creative magic happens. We want to
enable artists – musicians, designers, actors, storytellers – to
express themselves and to interact with our brand and our latest,
already widely desired launch: the first-ever BMW XM. Coachella is an
excellent platform through which to develop fresh conversations with
talented emerging artists as well as established stars.

Spectacular backdrops for incredible pictures.

Photo and video sessions are both on the agenda again in California.
And it’s not just the Coachella Festival setting that provides an
inspirational location for unique shots. Other locations offering the
co-creators a spectacular backdrop include the Invisible House in the
Joshua Tree National Park. The building was designed to integrate into
the natural landscape so that it almost seems to disappear into the
surrounding Mojave Desert. With its extraordinary location, minimalist
architecture and mirrored glass completely covering the exterior, the
Invisible House is a fascinating sight that sparks creativity and is
ideal for staging an emotionally engaging presentation of the new BMW XM.

The expressive design of the BMW XM – with its bold lines, powerful
Sports Activity Vehicle proportions and distinctive front-end styling,
complete with illuminated BMW Iconic Glow kidney grille – conveys the
car’s authoritative character and guarantees the undivided attention
of all around, even when stationary. The performance qualities of the
latest BMW M model are equally as impressive, if not more so.
Comprising a V8 engine and an electric motor and generating an output
of 480 kW/653 hp, the M HYBRID drive system combines with the
M-specific chassis technology to ensure the car handles with a blend
of dynamism, agility and precision that none of its rivals can match.

The new BMW XM will be built at BMW Plant Spartanburg in the US along
with all other high-performance models from the BMW X segment. The new
range-topping BMW XM Label will also roll off the production line
there from August 2023. Featuring a bespoke version of the new
plug-in-hybrid drive system delivering a combined output of 550 kW/748
hp, the BMW XM Label will be the most powerful series-produced car in
the history of BMW M GmbH.

Press Contact: Marc Belcourt
Tel: +1-905-428-5078
E-mail: marc.belcourt@bmwgroup.ca

Press Release,Events,Lifestyle Products,G09,XM,Product,BMW M

Richmond Hill, ON. Today, BMW M GmbH presents an
even more powerful, more exclusive version of its first-ever
electrified high-performance vehicle. The 2024 BMW XM Label brings
together an M HYBRID drivetrain with additional power and unique
design accents that clearly announce its exceptional performance
capabilities. With a maximum system output of 738 hp, the BMW XM Label
is simply the most powerful BMW M road vehicle ever
made.

The BMW XM Label will make its world debut at the
Auto Shanghai international motor show in April 2023. Production will
begin in August 2023 at BMW Group Plant Spartanburg in South Carolina.

Superlative power from the M HYBRID drivetrain system.

The M HYBRID system in the BMW XM Label clearly
demonstrates the benefits of electrification in high-performance
models from BMW M. The seamless interaction of the electric motor and
V8 engine ensures instantaneous power delivery that builds
emphatically and continues into the highest reaches of the rev range.
This combination of combustion engine and electric motor is
conceptually similar to the powertrain found in the new BMW M Hybrid
V8 endurance racing car, which made its debut in the 24 Hours of
Daytona race in the North American IMSA series this year and will
compete in events throughout 2023 leading up to the 24 Hours of Le
Mans in 2024.

A maximum system output of 738 hp represents
a 94-hp increase over the standard BMW XM. Overall system torque is up
by 148 lb-ft and now peaks at 738 lb-ft. Power is sent to the road by
the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system. In conjunction with
model-specific chassis technology and fast-acting, high-precision
powertrain and chassis controls, the BMW XM Label delivers a unique
performance experience with power and agility at entirely new levels.

M TwinPower Turbo technology and classic high-revving character.

The M HYBRID system of the BMW XM Label blends the
virtues of electrification with the traditional qualities of a
high-revving 8-cylinder combustion engine with M TwinPower Turbo
technology. The latest generation of the V8 delivers extremely rapid
power delivery, increased efficiency, and minimized emissions. As well
as a cross-bank exhaust manifold, it also features a reinforced
crankshaft drive, turbocharging with an electrically controlled
blow-off valve, upgraded oil supply, and optimized oil
separation.

In the BMW XM Label, the 4.4 litre V8 alone
produces 577 hp at 5,600 rpm – a 94-hp increase over the unit in the
standard BMW XM. Peak torque is 553 lb-ft – an increase of 74 lb-ft
over the standard model – and is available from 1,800 to 5,400 rpm.

Instantaneous power delivery: electric motor with innovative
pre-gearing stage.

Like the V8 engine, the electric motor of the M HYBRID
system also employs innovative technology to deliver a noticeable
increase in power. The permanently excited synchronous motor is
integrated into the 8-speed M Steptronic transmission together with
its power electronics and helps to provide precise throttle response
and nearly instantaneous power delivery.

The electric
motor contributes up to 194 hp to the maximum system output of the BMW
XM Label along with 207 lb-ft of torque. A pre-gearing stage patented
by BMW is used to increase the torque produced by the motor to an
effective maximum of 332 lb-ft at the transmission input for the
motor. In this way, the compact motor can provide the sort of torque
boost that could normally only be achieved using a far larger and
heavier unit.

The improved build-up of power resulting
from the pre-gearing stage between the electric motor’s rotor and the
transmission’s input shaft can be clearly felt, both when accelerating
off the line and when putting in a quick burst of speed. Combined with
the optimized power delivery of the V8 engine and its high-revving
character, this produces astonishing acceleration. The BMW XM Label
needs just an estimated 3.8 seconds to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h. Top
speed is electronically limited to 282 km/h with the standard M
Driver’s Package.

Powerful high-voltage battery, BMW IconicSounds Electric,
Combined Charging Unit and predictive heat management.

The electric motor draws its energy from a high-voltage
lithium-ion battery integrated into the underbody. The battery
provides a constant flow of power across a wide temperature range and
under the heavy loads encountered in high-performance driving. It has
a net energy content of 19.2 kWh. Together with the electric motor’s
excellent efficiency and the system of intelligent energy management,
this enables an estimated electric range of about 50
kilometers.

Under battery power alone, the BMW XM Label is
capable of purely electric journeys around town and beyond;
emission-free and in near silence. The BMW XM Label can achieve 140
km/h in electric mode. The power delivery of the electric motor is
enhanced by BMW IconicSounds Electric, developed in collaboration
between BMW and film score composer Hans Zimmer.

The
Combined Charging Unit of the M HYBRID system enables AC charging at
up to 7.4 kW. This means the high-voltage battery can be replenished
from zero to 100% charge in 3.25 hours. Predictive heat management
reduces charging times by preconditioning – warming or cooling – the
HV battery. The charging cable is kept in a stylish weekender bag
secured in the rear cargo area using a carabiner-belt combination in M tricolour.

Supreme traction, captivating performance: M xDrive and M
Sport Differential.

The M xDrive all-wheel-drive system is rear-biased, which
lends the BMW XM Label a dynamic sense of agility and poise;
especially so in 4WD Sport mode. When the DSC (Dynamic Stability
Control) system has been fully disengaged, the traction-optimized 4WD
Sand mode – conceived specifically for driving over dunes and similar
surfaces – can be activated via the M Setup
menu.

Supporting and augmenting the performance of the M
xDrive system is an electronically controlled differential lock in the
rear axle, which further enhances traction, agility and directional
stability. The M Sport Differential brings on-demand, fully variable
distribution of drive torque between the left and right rear wheels.

Model-specific chassis tuning, integrated transverse dynamics management.

The most powerful roadgoing BMW M vehicle ever made
impresses not only with the unique power delivery of its M HYBRID
system, but also with the breadth of its driving attributes. The BMW
XM Label’s sophisticated chassis technology gives it an extraordinary
range of abilities, from spirited handling to long-distance comfort,
and is adapted to the unique performance characteristics of the
powertrain with the precision for which BMW M models are
renowned.

Standard equipment for the BMW XM Label includes
Adaptive M Suspension Professional – featuring electronically
controlled dampers and active roll stabilization with Active Roll
Comfort to eliminate body roll on one side of the vehicle – and
Integral Active 4-Wheel Steering. The M Sport braking system comprises
six-piston, fixed-caliper brakes at the front and single-piston,
floating-caliper units at the rear. It teams with the
latest-generation integrated braking system, which ensures the
stopping power generated by recuperation and the friction brake is
delivered with consistency and precision, and offers the driver two
programmable pedal feel settings.

Along with the systems
mentioned above, the near-actuator wheel slip limitation tech
integrated into the engine management and the Performance Control
function are networked with the central transverse dynamics
management. The integration of all powertrain and chassis systems
together with the fine-tuning carried out on varying types of roads
with the help of BMW M GmbH’s motorsport expertise has resulted in a
well-resolved driving experience in every situation and with every configuration.

Extroverted design with exclusive details.

The muscular proportions of a dynamic Sports Activity
Vehicle converge with a bold, self-confident exterior design featuring
large surfaces, clear lines and a front-end look reserved for BMW’s
luxury-class models. And added to the mix here are design accents
underscoring the singular character of the BMW XM Label as a vehicle
focused on achieving the highest peaks of performance.

The
distinguishing features of the BMW XM Label include an available
Toronto Red Metallic accent band in place of the standard black. The
use of red also extends to the model badges and the inserts on the
available 22-inch wheels. The BMW XM Label is fitted as standard with
23-inch light-alloy wheels, with 22-inch wheels available as a no-cost
option. The BMW M kidney grille frame and rear diffuser highlights are
finished in high-gloss black as standard.

Customers will be able to choose from more than 50 BMW
Individual special paint finishes as standard, including Urban Green,
Petrol Mica Metallic, Anglesey Green Metallic and Sepia Metallic. The
new BMW Individual Visualizer (which can be explored here) will
be available from the start of orders for the BMW XM Label to help
customers with the paint selection process. The vehicle is
realistically depicted in the paint finish selected against the
backdrop of BMW M Town.

The limited-run BMW XM Label First Edition – only 500 examples of
which will be released globally – maximizes the exclusivity factor
with even more expressive styling. Joining the accent band, the BMW M
kidney grille frame and rear diffuser highlight are also finished in
Toronto Red Metallic to create additional design cues that combine
with the BMW Individual paint finish in Frozen Carbon Black. The
contrast of the gloss colour accents against shimmering matte surfaces
creates a distinctive and dramatic visual impact. Inside, a “1/500”
designation below the central display further speaks to the XM Label
First Edition’s exclusivity.

A black and red motif extends
to the interior of the BMW XM Label. The distinctive three-dimensional
roofliner and the trim for the body pillars are finished in black,
while Fiona Red is used to highlight the diamond-shaped upper sections
of the backrests and the integrated headrests of the seats for the
driver and front passenger and the outer rear seats. Red contrast
stitching is used on the black surfaces of the seats, instrument
panel, door trim and centre console, and the air vents have red
accents. Other exclusive features of the BMW XM Label interior include
a red “XM” badge below the central display, and signature M carbon
fibre trim with red and blue accent threads recalling the Label’s M pedigree.

Sports car cockpit with BMW Curved Display; M Lounge in the rear.

M Multifunction Seats, knee pads, M-specific content on
the BMW Curved Display and the Head-Up Display, the signature M gear
selector lever, and an M-specific control panel on the centre console
are just some of the features of a sports car-style cockpit optimized
to deliver a richly engaging performance experience on board. The
M Hybrid button is used to select the operating mode for the drive
system, while the Setup button provides direct access to the
configuration of the powertrain, chassis, steering, braking system,
and M xDrive, as well as allowing the level of brake energy
recuperation to be adjusted. An exclusive feature of the BMW XM Label
is the symbol identifying Boost Mode on the left-hand shift
paddle.

A generous feeling of space, high-quality
materials, and extravagant design transform the rear of the BMW XM
Label into an exclusive M Lounge. Heated backrests that extend well
into the sides of the cabin and cushions in Merino leather with red
contrast stitching and an “XM” badge offer passengers luxurious levels
of comfort. The sculptural roofliner is unique with its
three-dimensional prism structure, picture frame-style border, and 100
LED units for illumination. Ambient Lighting, Auto 4-Zone Climate
Control, Massaging and Ventilated Front Seats, and Harman Kardon
Surround Sound System are all standard features, while the options
list includes the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System
with a 1,475-watt amplifier and four additional speakers in the roof area.

Munich. The launch communication for the new BMW XM
(fuel consumption combined: 1.7 - 1.6 litres/100 km; combined power
consumption: 34.5 - 33.0 kWh/100 km; combined CO2
emissions: 39 - 35 g/km according to WLTP; data according to NEDC: -
), the first high-performance automobile with M HYBRID drive will be
launched by BMW together with strong, independent and self-confident
creative partners. First and foremost: Naomi Campbell, model, actress,
cultural innovator and one of the most influential figures on the
international fashion scene over the past four decades. With her as
co-creator, the worldwide communication for the market launch of the
BMW XM under the motto "Dare to be You" focuses on a new
dimension of self-confident presence, expressive lifestyle and assured
individuality. The first BMW XM not only makes an extravagant design
statement, but is the pioneer of maximum performance with electrified
drive at the same time.

"The BMW M slogan 'Dare to be You' immediately appealed to me
because it describes exactly the confident attitude that is necessary
for progress and positive change," says Naomi Campbell. With her
strong sense of aesthetics and design, she will be instrumental in the
upcoming projects. As a further highlight of this cooperation, a
one-off model of the BMW XM designed by her will be presented in the
course of 2023.

A timeless icon and committed champion of social change, Naomi
Campbell belongs to that select circle of catwalk stars for whom the
term supermodel was invented. To this day, the British-born daughter
of Jamaican parents uses her presence at international fashion shows
to advocate for more diversity in the fashion business. That is why
she is still considered to be a pioneer for the next generation of
emerging talents in the creative and fashion scene.

Parallel to her career on the catwalks of haute couture, Naomi
Campbell has long been successful as an actress, designer and
entrepreneur. In addition, she supports a variety of charities,
including its new EMERGE initiative to promote the creative talents of
tomorrow, which in 2022 focused in particular on the next generation
of cultural talent on the African continent, as well as UNESCO.
"Naomi Campbell is a woman who goes her own way unswervingly and
has become not only a unique supermodel but also a fascinating
personality," says Jens Thiemer, Senior Vice President Customer
and Brand BMW. "There are few people who can identify with the
motto 'Dare to be You' as strongly as she can."

The BMW XM will make its debut on global automotive markets in spring
2023 to create a sensation with its expressive design and powerfully
characterful interior with M Lounge in the rear as well as its
stunning performance. BMW M GmbH combines a spectacular vehicle
concept with pioneering drive technology with the independently
developed Sports Activity Vehicle, available exclusively as a BMW M automobile.

Adapted from endurance racing and used for the first time in a
production model, the BMW XM's M HYBRID drive generates a system
output of 480 kW/653 hp. As a special BMW XM Label Red model (fuel
consumption combined: 1.7 - 1.6 litres/100 km; combined power
consumption: 34.5 - 33.0 kWh/100 km; combined CO2
emissions: 39 - 35 g/km according to WLTP) and with a maximum output
of 550 kW/748 hp, it will even become the most powerful
series-production vehicle ever approved for road use in the 50-year
history of BMW M GmbH from autumn 2023.

Press Contact: Marc Belcourt
Tel: +1-905-428-5078
E-mail: marc.belcourt@bmwgroup.ca

Press Release,G09,XM,Product,BMW M

BMW M GmbH closes anniversary year with new sales record.

Munich. At the end of its anniversary year, BMW M
GmbH has once again achieved record results. Global sales of
performance and high-performance cars rose to 177,257 vehicles during
the 2022 financial year. This represents an increase of 8.4 per cent
compared to the previous year, despite the continuing challenging
conditions in the area of logistics and supply chains. The most
important single market in 2022 was again the USA, with the second
most important sales region again being the German domestic market,
followed by the UK.

“The enthusiasm of the M community for emotionally powerful
performance on the road and on the racetrack has carried us through
the entire anniversary year,” says Franciscus van Meel, Chairman of
the Board of Management of BMW M GmbH. “This is also expressed in a
new sales record for BMW M automobiles, which gives us a positive
outlook for 2023.”

BMW i4 M50: the best-selling BMW M automobile drives locally
emission-free.
At the same time, 2022 marks BMW M
GmbH's successful start into the age of electric mobility. “The
best-selling BMW M automobile of 2022 is the all-electric BMW i4 M50,”
says Timo Resch, Head of Customer, Brand and Sales at BMW M GmbH. “For
us, this is a clear signal that the unique M feeling has arrived in
the world of electrified vehicles.” The BMW i4 M50 is powered by an
electric motor on both the front and rear axles, which together
generate a maximum output of 400 kW/544 hp. The perfectly coordinated
power delivery of the two e-motors and independent suspension tuning
ensure an M-typical driving experience characterised by dynamics,
agility and precision, which proved to be a real crowd-puller right
from the outset.

With the BMW iX M60*, a second all-electric performance car from BMW
M GmbH made a highly successful debut. During the course of 2023, BMW
M GmbH will continue its product offensive with, among other things,
the first electrified high-performance automobile, the BMW XM, and the
BMW i7 M70, a BMW M automobile based on the fully electric BMW i7. The
further transformation towards electric mobility has also already been
mapped out. In order to be able to include high-performance cars with
purely electric drive in the range in the future, BMW M GmbH will
intensify the corresponding concept testing in 2023. The focus will be
on an integrated driving dynamics control system and an electric M
xDrive all-wheel drive system with four electric motors, which will
ensure that the emotionally powerful M feeling reaches an even higher level.

Anniversary year with spectacular premieres, BMW M3 and BMW M4
remain on the road to success, fast-paced launch for the new BMW
M240i xDrive Coupe*.
The celebrations of the 50th
anniversary of BMW M GmbH were accompanied by debuts for numerous
spectacular new models. The broad spectrum of new releases ranged from
the second generation of the puristic BMW M2*, with its combination of
straight six-cylinder engine, 6-speed manual transmission and
rear-wheel drive, which evokes classic driving pleasure in a
high-performance automobile, to the extroverted BMW XM with its
480 kW/653 hp M HYBRID drive. The first BMW M3 Touring* also offers
completely new ways to experience M-typical performance. This
diversity creates ideal conditions for attracting additional target
groups and generating further growth in 2023.

The current increase in sales figures is also based on sales
successes in a wide range of vehicle segments. The high-performance
sports cars of the BMW M3 and BMW M4 series, which – including the new
BMW M3 Touring – are available in four body variants, in two
performance levels, with a choice of a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed M
Steptronic transmission, as well as with rear-wheel drive or the
all-wheel drive system M xDrive, continued to enjoy particularly
widespread popularity in 2022. BMW M GmbH thus covers a wide range of
customer needs in this core segment.

With an exceptionally strong performance within their competitive
environment, the high-performance cars based on BMW X models also
contributed to BMW M GmbH's new sales record. The upcoming upgrade for
the BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M models in spring 2023 will provide effective
impetus for a continuation of this success story.

The successful launch of the new BMW M240i xDrive Coupe in 2022
proved to be a highlight in the performance car segment. The new
edition of the compact two-door is powered by a 275 kW/374 hp
straight-six engine and is now also available with classic rear-wheel
drive. “The new sales record for BMW M Automobiles is based on our
successful presence in a broad range of vehicle segments,” says Timo
Resch. “With our wide-ranging product portfolio, we are also ideally
positioned for the future.”

Premiere at Daytona: the new BMW M3 CS* and the BMW M Hybrid V8.
In addition, BMW M GmbH fulfils the desire for particularly
concentrated racing characteristics with attractive special models –
as early as 2022 with the BMW M4 CSL* and soon with the new BMW M3 CS.

The BMW M3 CS will make its world debut on the last weekend of
January as part of the 24-hour race at Daytona. The tradition-steeped
competition in the US state of Florida is also the venue for BMW M
Motorsport's comeback to endurance racing. The new BMW M Hybrid V8
will compete there for the first time. 47 years after the Daytona
overall victory of the legendary BMW 3.0 CSL, the new LMDh prototype
is set to race for points in the IMSA GTP class of the WeatherTech
SportsCar Championship before also competing in the official FIA World
Endurance Championship at Le Mans and elsewhere in 2024.

The final phase of the development process and the subsequent test
drives on various race tracks were among the highlights of 2022 for
the BMW M GmbH motorsport department, while the all-important success
on the race track was the overall victory in the DTM drivers' and
teams' championships. South African Sheldon van der Linde and Team
Schubert Motorsport secured the title win in the prestigious touring
car championship in the very first season with the new BMW M4 GT3.

Richmond Hill, ON. As its 50th anniversary
celebrations continue, BMW M GmbH unleashes high performance in a form
never experienced before. Innovative drive system technology, a unique
vehicle concept, a door opened into a whole new market segment and the
ambition to attract new groups of customers – the first-ever BMW XM
wraps all these elements in a confidently dramatic exterior design
that exudes power and emotion and an interior that is at once
intensely driver-focused, boldly modern, and indulgently sybaritic.

Powertrain. The first plug-in hybrid drive system from BMW M.

The all-new BMW XM is fitted with a newly developed plug-in hybrid
drivetrain. The M HYBRID system in the BMW XM consists of a new 483-hp
V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology and a 194-hp electric
motor integrated into the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission.
Together, they generate a maximum system output of 644 hp at 5,400 RPM
and 590 ft-lbs of torque between 1,600 and 5,000 RPM.

Power is channeled to the road via the M xDrive all-wheel-drive
system. The combination of an electric motor and eight-cylinder engine
produces immense, instantaneously available power sustained throughout
the rev range. The M HYBRID system also enables purely electric
driving with an anticipated range of up to 50 kilometres (estimated
range according to preliminary BMW AG tests based on the EPA’s test
procedure standards – NRCan figures to be confirmed at a later date).

The BMW XM shares its drive concept of an eight-cylinder combustion
engine supported by an electric motor with the newly developed
endurance racing car from BMW M Motorsport. The BMW M Hybrid V8 will
go racing in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in North
America in 2023 at venues including Daytona. The following season, it
will power BMW M Motorsport’s return to the FIA World Endurance
Championship (WEC) and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The extensively updated, 4.4-litre engine utilizes the thermodynamic
benefits of a cross-bank exhaust manifold. A reinforced crankshaft
drive, further developed turbocharging – mounted close to the exhaust
manifold and with an electrically controlled blow-off valve – plus a
new vane-type oil pump and a weight-minimized plastic oil sump all
play a role in increasing the engine’s efficiency. An optimized oil
separation process with variable impactor enhances the engine’s
emissions performance.

The VALVETRONIC fully variable valve control now includes a
switchable rocker arm on the exhaust side, which allows the engines
exhaust valves to be shut entirely. This way, when the driver releases
the accelerator, a higher proportion of the braking energy can be fed
into the high-voltage battery by means of recuperation.

BMW GEN5 electric motor.

The V8 engine in the BMW XM is supported by an electric motor which,
like the plug-in hybrid system’s power electronics and high-voltage
battery, is a product of fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology. The
permanently excited synchronous motor is integrated into the
eight-speed M Steptronic transmission and helps to provide quick
throttle response.

The electric motor contributes up to 194 hp to the maximum system
output of 644 hp. The maximum system torque produced by the
combination of electric motor and combustion engine is 590 lb-ft. A
pre-gearing stage is used to increase the maximum torque produced by
the electric motor to 332 lb-ft at the transmission input. This
innovation enables the electric motor integrated into the transmission
housing to generate substantial levels of power that could normally
only be achieved using a far larger unit. Developed by BMW, the extra
gearing stage between the electric motor’s rotor and the
transmission’s input shaft gives a boost to the M HYBRID system’s
torque delivery. This torque is instantly on tap when pulling away and
makes a clear difference both when accelerating off the line and
passing at speed on the highway.

Aided by the grip of M xDrive and a sophisticated launch control
system, the BMW XM accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds.
Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h, or 270 km/h if the
optional M Driver’s Package is specified. The top speed in pure
electric mode is 140 km/h.

BMW XM Label.

Following the launch of the BMW XM in the first quarter of 2023, BMW
M will reveal a special model in the BMW XM line-up: the BMW XM Label.
The BMW XM Label will be the first in a series of BMW XM Label models,
and available for a limited period of time. This special model is
estimated to produce over 735 hp and 735 lb-ft. of torque[1], and will offer
unique paint, wheel, upholstery, and trim selections. Production of
the BMW XM Label is expected to begin in the Summer of 2023. Details
on how to order the BMW XM Label will be available at a later date.

Power electronics.

The coordination of the combustion engine and electric motor is
handled by the M HYBRID system’s power electronics. Intelligent energy
management allows the battery’s charge level to be regulated so that
the final stretch of a longer journey through a built-up area can be
covered using only electric power, for example.

The HV battery’s low installation height allows it to be mounted in
the underbody of the BMW XM. The lithium-ion battery offers high
energy density at a cell and battery pack level. It provides a
constant flow of power across a wide temperature range and under the
heavy loads of performance driving. It has a net usable energy content
of 19.2 kWh (29.5 kWh gross).

Charging with predictive heat management.

The Combined Charging Unit of the M HYBRID system enables AC charging
at up to 7.4 kW. This means the high-voltage battery can be
replenished from zero to 100 percent charge in 3.25 hours. The
Combined Charging Unit also acts as a voltage transformer to supply
the 12V electrical system. Predictive heat management reduces charging
times by warming or cooling the battery as needed. The system uses
data on the outside temperature, predicted charging power, charge
stroke between the current actual value and the target value, the
car’s remaining range and the distance to the destination to calculate
the target temperature at which the high-voltage battery can be
charged at maximum power for the longest possible time.

The M HYBRID drive system in the BMW XM has a cooling system tailored
to its high-performance mission. Large air apertures at the front of
the BMW XM, generously sized heat exchangers, and an integrated system
for controlling the temperature of the combustion engine, the
transmission (including the electric motor), and the high-voltage
battery ensure ideal operating temperatures for the drive system
technology in everyday driving situations and under sustained, high
power demand. Transmission oil cooling is done by an upstream air heat
exchanger. Water-carrying components have been flow-optimized to
achieve maximum cooling power while keeping pumping rates low. All the
heat exchangers are sealed against the surrounding structure using
soft materials to enable optimal airflow.

8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic, integrated
hybrid module and Launch Control function.

The 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic is also a first
from BMW M. It channels not only the power generated by the combustion
engine, but also the drive torque from the integrated electric motor
as required to enhance either efficiency, comfort or power delivery.
The hybrid module also acts as an integrated drive-off element and
allows the car to creep at walking pace without the driver pressing
the accelerator and firing the combustion engine.

A wet multi-plate separation clutch manages the smooth engagement and
disengagement of the combustion engine during a journey. Its low drag
torque allows the clutch to be open when driving in pure-electric
mode. Furthermore, the separation clutch can eliminate torsional
vibrations generated by the combustion engine using micro-slip
control. In combination with the integrated torsional vibration damper
system, this helps to ensure high levels of acoustic comfort at low revs.

The 8-speed M Steptronic transmission also has a Launch Control
function to enable traction-optimized acceleration off the line with
maximum thrust. The engine control unit governs both the release logic
of the Launch Control system and the slip-optimized limitation of
drive torque. The shift points are carefully calibrated help to ensure
the best possible acceleration for all environmental conditions, e.g.,
outside temperature and road surface.

Three driving modes for maximum performance and emissions-free efficiency.

The interaction between the combustion engine and electric motor in
the BMW XM can be adjusted by selecting specific driving modes. The
driver can call up the relevant menu using the M HYBRID button on the
control panel in the centre console and access it on the control display.

HYBRID driving mode is the default setting and gives the driver
access to the full system output of combustion engine and electric
motor in tandem. The amount each drive source contributes to the
performance experience depends on the drive configuration selected
from the M Setup menu. In the Comfort setting, the electric motor is
used without engaging the combustion engine as often as possible,
optimizing the efficiency of the BMW XM. If the battery is at a very
low state of charge, the generator function raises the engine’s load
point to feed additional power into the high-voltage battery. In the
drive system’s Sport and Sport Plus modes, the combustion engine is
always active.

In the ELECTRIC driving mode, the BMW XM uses only the power from the
electric drive system up to its 140 km/h top speed. In this mode, the
combustion engine is only activated under kickdown or when switching
into the transmission’s manual mode – using either the gear selector
or one of the shift paddles on the steering wheel.

eCONTROL mode tells the system to maintain the charge of the
high-voltage battery during a journey or to increase it by means of
energy recuperation. In this way, battery capacity can be saved for
pure-electric driving in urban areas later in the journey, for example.

One engine, one electric motor, four driven wheels: the M
xDrive system.

In the BMW XM, M xDrive splits the power generated by the combustion
engine and electric motor between all four wheels precisely, quickly,
and as required at all times. An electronically controlled multi-plate
clutch ensures fully variable distribution of power between the front
and rear axle.

The rear-biased setup of M xDrive enhances the agility of the BMW XM.
The system’s default mode is 4WD, but two other modes can be selected
via the M Setup menu. In 4WD Sport mode, more power is sent to the
rear wheels for sporty, M-typical handling in dynamic driving
situations. To activate 4WD Sport, the driver must first switch to M
Dynamic Mode or turn DSC off. And only when DSC has been fully
deactivated can 4WD Sand mode be used. This setting initiates a
traction-optimized program of the all-wheel-drive system and engages
the locking functions of the M Sport differential specifically for
driving over dunes or similar low-traction surfaces.

Model-specific rear axle differential with M Sport
differential.

Furthering the performance of the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system is
an electronically controlled differential lock in the rear axle. The M
Sport differential brings a need-based and fully variable distribution
of drive torque between the left and right rear wheels. This helps to
send maximum drive power to the road without any losses, especially
when the vehicle is being pushed hard or has less grip on one side.
Shifting power to the wheel on the outside of the corner mitigates
understeer without the need for brake inputs.

The M xDrive system and M Sport differential are coordinated with DSC
to ensure they all work together precisely as the driving situation
demands. The BMW XM has a model-specific rear axle differential
specially tuned to the high system torque of its M HYBRID drive system.

Chassis.

With its long wheelbase and wide tracks, the vehicle concept
underpinning the BMW XM is well-suited to delivering a balanced blend
of high performance and comfort. High degrees of wheel camber at the
front and rear axle enhance the handling, as do the nearly 50/50
weight distribution and the very rigid body and chassis mountings. The
positioning of the M HYBRID system’s high-voltage battery in the
vehicle floor gives the BMW XM a low centre of gravity, which has a
positive effect on its agility and cornering dynamics.

Its double-wishbone front axle boasts high levels of longitudinal and
lateral rigidity, while the use of aluminum components reduces
unsprung weight. The design includes a second level of control arms
for wheel guidance, which means the dampers are almost completely
isolated from lateral forces, improving damper response.

The five-link rear axle ensures precise wheel guidance and
outstanding straight-line poise, together with impressive ride comfort
thanks to its elastic mounting. The sheet-steel construction of its
links helps to reduce weight, as do the aluminum wheel carriers and
forged upper control arms. The rear-axle subframe made from aluminum
offers high structural rigidity and features a large supporting base
along with additional thrust arms. The camber arms with
aerodynamically optimized paneling on their underside form an integral
part of the completely sealed underbody, thereby helping to lower
aerodynamic drag and substantially reduce rear axle lift.

The BMW XM is equipped with steel springs that have been designed to
meet the requirements of a high-performance model’s handling dynamics
and offer high levels of roll and vertical stabilization while also
minimizing weight. Linear springs are fitted at the front axle and
progressive springs at the rear. The progressive springs offer very
long rebound travel combined with high oscillation rates, benefiting
not only traction, but ride comfort for passengers in the rear.

The BMW XM comes standard with Adaptive M Suspension Professional.

Active roll stabilization with Active Roll Comfort.

An important factor in the inspiring handling of the BMW XM is its
active roll stabilization technology. The version of the
electromechanical roll stabilization system found on the BMW XM uses a
48V electric motor as an active connection between the two halves of
the anti-roll bar at both the front and rear axle. A dedicated 48V
electrical system made up of supercapacitors supplies energy to the
electric motors for the active anti-roll bars.

The active roll stabilization also increases comfort when driving in
a straight line by decoupling the fixed connection of a conventional
anti-roll bar between each axle’s wheels. This has the effect of
correcting body roll when driving over surface imperfections on one
side of the vehicle, also lessening the associated acceleration forces
and the obtrusive ‘head-toss’ they can cause.

The Active Roll Comfort function goes further by enabling the system
to actively suppress rolling movements caused by bumps in the road on
one side of the vehicle rather than just reduce them. This allows any
loss of ride comfort on rough roads to be minimized more effectively.

Premiere in a BMW M model: Integral Active Steering.

For the first time in a BMW M model, Integral Active Steering is
fitted as standard equipment. Turning the rear wheels as well as the
fronts makes light work of tight, low-speed maneuvers, increases
agility at moderate speeds, and enhances poise and assurance at high
speeds, especially when changing lanes. The rear wheels are turned in
either the same or the opposite direction to the front wheels,
depending on road speed. And in very challenging driving situations,
stabilizing steering inputs at the rear wheels can help to keep the
BMW XM safely on track.

Near-actuator wheel slip limitation.

The superb traction and precisely controllable handling of the BMW XM
in any situation are enhanced by means of the very latest,
intelligently interconnected control systems. The near-actuator wheel
slip limitation maximizes directional stability even when driving in
adverse road conditions. This traction control system is integrated
into the engine management, eliminating the long signal paths to the
DSC control unit. This allows corrective inputs to be applied up to
ten times faster than in conventional systems and with exceptional
precision. Because the near-actuator wheel slip limitation function
manages any loss of traction, especially when accelerating hard or
taking corners at speed, the DSC system has to intervene far less
frequently to maintain composed and assured handling with selective
applications of the brakes at individual wheels.

23-inch M light-alloy wheels and sports tires.

Standard on the BMW XM are 22-inch M light-alloy wheels fitted with
mixed-size performance tires measuring 275/40 R22 at the front and
315/35 R22 at the rear. 23-inch M light-alloy wheels are optional,
while select 22-inch wheel variants may be fitted with model-specific
sports tires.

Exterior Design.

The progressive front-end design developed exclusively for the BMW
luxury class has been given a unique adaptation for the BMW XM,
announcing both its presence and remarkable performance equally.
Smooth surfaces and sharp edges bring clarity and confidence to the
front end. Alongside the fresh interpretation of the twin headlights
and BMW M kidney grille, the large air intakes are a defining feature
of the front end. The sensor and camera systems required for the
driver assistance tech are integrated discreetly into the front apron.

The BMW XM is equipped as standard with Adaptive LED Headlights,
whose light functions are split into two separate areas. The daytime
driving lights, side lights and turn indicators are integrated into
the ultra-slim, crisply contoured upper elements, each consisting of
two LED units. The low-beam and high-beam headlights are positioned in
the lower, darkened area of the headlight units deeply embedded in the
front apron.

The two elements of the grille stand out clearly from the surrounding
surfaces. Within them are the horizontal grille bars that have become
a hallmark feature of the high-performance sports cars from BMW M
GmbH, while the double surrounds of the kidneys emphasize their
octagonal contours. The outer border of each kidney is finished in
NightGold Metallic, while the inner surround provides contour lighting
in the form of a sharply drawn, unbroken light ring.

The side window shape is bordered by a NightGold accent band. Another
NightGold accent band emerges from the front wheel arches, and as it
approaches the D-pillar the band turns upwards in a fresh imagining of
the Hofmeister kink.

There is a prominent depression at the rear of the BMW XM’s roof and
BMW logos have been engraved into the rear window below the right and
left rails. A special laser engraving technique ensures the logos
stand out against the dark glass surface.

The flat, near seamlessly fitted rear window and prominently flared
wheel arches together accentuate the width and powerful stature of the
BMW XM. The slim rear lights have a sculpted design and project out
from the body. The rear lights only become visible through the dark
lens covers when they are activated. Three diagonal light strips on
the flanks reference the style of the BMW M GmbH tricolour logo

Vertically arranged reflectors border the rear apron at either side.
The diffuser elements integrated into the lower section of the rear
apron are painted in NightGold and framed by high-gloss black
surrounds. The black model badge on the tailgate is also outlined in
NightGold. A pair of tailpipes from the double-sided, dual-branch
exhaust system protrude from either side of the diffuser. This
familiar design cue of M models has been reimagined for the BMW XM,
with the hexagonal tailpipe trims stacked vertically. Model-specific
air-directing elements in the underbody provide additional cooling for
the exhaust system, enabling an optimal operating temperature at all
times – even when the engine is working under high loads for sustained periods.

Rich, vibrant paint finishes; up to 23-inch light-alloy wheels.

Seven paint shades are available for the exterior of the BMW XM,
including three shades exclusive to M models and one BMW Individual
finish. Further options are expected to be added in summer 2023, at
which time customers also will be able to choose from more than 50 BMW
Individual paint finishes.

The BMW XM can be ordered with Black Exterior Contents. If this
option is specified, the accent band along the sides of the vehicle,
the BMW M kidney grille’s outer border, and the surrounds for the
diffuser elements at the rear are finished in High-Gloss Black.

The BMW XM is fitted as standard with 22-inch M light-alloy wheels.
Available as an option are 22-inch M aerodynamic wheels with inserts
that reduce both weight and drag. Customers may also choose 23-inch
bi-colour M light-alloy wheels. These are finished either in Black or
NightGold and feature a unique hub cover with BMW lettering.

Interior Design.

The expressive style of the BMW XM’s exterior design continues inside
the cabin. The lines and surfaces of the instrument panel, centre
console, seats, and door trim panels create an environment around the
driver and front passenger seats that authentically reflects the
performance potential of the BMW XM.

The BMW Curved Display sits on a generously-sized decorative surface
in matte carbon fibre. The M-typical carbon fibre elements in the
instrument panel combine with wide air vent surrounds in pearl-effect
chrome. The surface of the centre console is also in matte carbon fibre.

Progressive luxury: M Lounge in the rear, sculptural roofliner.

A generous feeling of space, high-quality materials, and bold design
transform the rear of the BMW XM into an exclusive M Lounge. The rear
bench offers two outboard seats and a full-size space for a third
passenger in the centre. Deep recesses and a colour and material
design that continues into the door trim panels combine to create an
inviting lounge-like character in the rear seats with a snug and
comfortable feel. Three-dimensional diamond quilting that extends into
the door trim panels, diamond-shaped contours on the upper section of
the backrest and integral head restraints give the rear seats a modern
and sporty appearance. The standard seat heating for the M Lounge
includes the side panels as well as the seat surfaces and backrests.

The sculptural roofliner of the BMW XM is a very special piece of
design. The three-dimensional prism structure of its Alcantara surface
and discreet illumination give the interior a dramatic yet intimate
feel. Fibre-optic light guides containing 100 LEDs are integrated into
the roofliner’s “picture frame” border to produce constant or dynamic
light effects within its sculptural design, depending on the situation
and selected driving mode. Dynamic pulses of light in the interior are
also used to signal an incoming phone call or highlight the risk of a
potential collision when opening a door.

Vintage leather makes each interior unique.

Four equipment variants enable customers to select their own choice
of surface materials and colour schemes for the BMW XM interior.
Standard specification consists of BMW Individual Merino leather trim
with interior surfaces and seat surfaces in Black and contrast
stitching in Black Grey, while the upper section of the dashboard and
door shoulders are covered in soft Black Nappa leather. Like the
roofliner, the A, B and C pillars are also covered in Alcantara. BMW
Individual Merino leather trim is also available as an option with
surfaces in Sakhir Orange for the seats, the centre console and the
lower sections of the dashboard and door trim panels, and Black Nappa
leather on the upper dashboard and door trim.

The optional BMW Individual Merino leather trim with exclusive
contents is also available in two colour combinations. The seat
surfaces, centre console, lower sections of the dashboard and door
trim panels, sculptural roofliner inlay and cushions for the rear
passengers can be specified in either Silverstone or Deep Lagoon.

First shown on the BMW Concept XM, Vintage Coffee leather may be
specified for the upper sections of the dashboard and door trim
panels. Soft Nappa leather is used here for the first time, a special
finishing process deliberately emphasizing its natural characteristics
rather than concealing them. The vintage look created by this process
discreetly highlights creases, scars, and worn areas as characterful
design elements of the material. As well as authentically celebrating
leather as a natural product, this also ensures maximum individuality,
as every interior trim crafted from Vintage leather has its own unique
visual details that set it apart as one of a kind. Vintage Coffee
leather is only available and equipped with either Silverstone or Deep
Lagoon Merino Leather upholsteries.

Emotionally engaging drive sounds, even in locally
emission-free driving mode: BMW IconicSounds Electric.

The note of a V8 engine is unmistakable, but the BMW XM also offers
an emotionally rich sound experience in pure-electric mode. With BMW
IconicSounds Electric included as standard, the joy of driving while
generating zero local emissions is accompanied by a special sound
design inside the vehicle. The BMW XM makes a statement acoustically
before the journey has even begun. Pressing the start/stop button
initiates an acoustic flourish that signals the BMW XM is ready to
drive, and fuels anticipation for the driving experience to come – in
both pure-electric and combustion engine mode. During the journey, the
M-specific electric drive sound provides authentic feedback to every
movement of the accelerator pedal.

For the first time, the power delivery of the electric motor retains
its aural accompaniment when the combustion engine is running. If the
Sport or Sport Plus mode is engaged while in HYBRID driving mode, a
distinctive boost sound gives the driver an acoustic experience of the
additional performance delivered by the electric motor.

Driver assistance systems: the complete comfort and safety package.

The BMW XM boasts the largest selection of driver assistance systems
offered for any high-performance vehicle from BMW M GmbH. Standard
specification includes the full suite of Driving Assistant
Professional, which comprises Front Collision Warning, Lane Departure
Warning including lane return with steering assistance, the Evasion
Assistant, Alertness Assistant and Speed Limit Info system including
no-overtaking indicator and manual Speed Limit Assist. Furthermore,
Driving Assistant Professional delivers an extensive automated driving
experience with a combination of Active Cruise Control with
Stop&Go function and the Steering and Lane Control Assistant. With
the automatic Speed Limit Assist, route monitoring, traffic light
recognition and Active Navigation, speed and steering movements can be
adapted precisely to any traffic situation. The range of functions
also includes the Emergency Lane and Emergency Stop Assistant, the
Lane Change Assistant and Crossing Traffic Warning.

BMW iDrive 8.

The BMW XM comes as standard with the BMW Live Cockpit Professional,
which brings with it an M-specific version of the latest-generation of
BMW iDrive. The information display’s newly designed graphic layout
and the M-style content shown there support the driver with a focused,
performance-led driving experience. Vehicle speed is shown on the left
of the display both as a figure and as a digital scale, along with
information such as fuel level and the status of the driver assistance
systems. The right-hand section indicates engine speed, the gear
currently engaged, the transmission’s Drivelogic setting, the charge
level of the high-voltage battery and the setup selected with the M
button on the steering wheel. The familiar M Shift Lights are shown in
the upper section of the information display. A display bar at the
lower edge of the screen provides information including the status of
the driving stability systems, M xDrive and the traction control
technology. The standard BMW Live Cockpit Professional also includes
the BMW Head-Up Display with M specific readouts.
