Richmond Hill, ON. When the first ALPINA XB7 left
final assembly at BMW Plant Spartanburg in South Carolina in 2020, it
marked the very first time an ALPINA model had ever been completed
outside of the ALPINA workshop in Buchloe, approximately one hour west
of BMW's Munich headquarters. Today, we mark the close of XB7
production with the 2026 ALPINA XB7 MANUFAKTUR – a special model
limited to 120 examples for North America, 12 of which are for the
Canadian market. Embodying the MANUFAKTUR standard, the XB7 MANUFAKTUR
brings together exclusive finishes, tailored details, and appointments
never before offered on the XB7, alongside the hallmark ALPINA balance
of maximum performance, supreme ride comfort, and signature driving dynamics.

Every ALPINA XB7 MANUFAKTUR will be assembled at BMW Plant
Spartanburg in South Carolina, with production commencing in September
2026 and deliveries expected in the fourth quarter of 2026. While each
vehicle comes fully-equipped, clients can select their paint finish
and option a Trailer Tow Hitch and/or Compact Spare Tire.

MANUFAKTUR exterior: Frozen ALPINA Green, Frozen ALPINA Blue,
and a new standard for the XB7.

The 2026 ALPINA XB7 MANUFAKTUR is offered exclusively in two paint
finishes never before available on the XB7: Frozen ALPINA Green and
Frozen ALPINA Blue. Both finishes are new to the XB7 while remaining
clearly rooted in the ALPINA colour heritage — a deliberate choice
that honors the model's lineage in its final production year. Setting
off both finishes are exterior design elements finished in gloss
black, including the standard 23-inch ALPINA CLASSIC forged 20-spoke wheels.

The full suite of exterior trim – grille, window surrounds, air
breathers, front ALPINA logo, and rear tailpipe finishers – is
presented in gloss black. A unique "XB7 MANUFAKTUR" badge at
the rear identifies each example. Viewed in profile, the classic
ALPINA Deco-Set appliqué runs the length of the vehicle in black,
while a laser-etched "MANUFAKTUR" wordmark on each B-pillar
marks the designation with characteristic restraint. The optional
receiver hitch supports a towing capacity of up to 3,405 kg.

MANUFAKTUR interior: Tartufo Full Merino leather, heritage
ALPINA embroidery, and a "1 of 120" plaque.

Across all 120 examples – regardless of exterior finish – the ALPINA
XB7 MANUFAKTUR interior is upholstered in Tartufo Full Merino leather
and trimmed in ALPINA Natural Walnut Anthracite. Each front headrest
carries the heritage ALPINA script embroidered in green and blue, a
detail that connects the XB7 MANUFAKTUR directly to the brand's
five-decade tradition of individual expression. Black front floor mats
feature silver ALPINA emblem pins; the trunk mat is embroidered with
the "MANUFAKTUR" wordmark.

On the forward console lid, a silver "ALPINA XB7
MANUFAKTUR" plaque confirms each vehicle's place as "1 of
120" – a direct statement of the model's significance. The
8-speed ALPINA Switch-Tronic transmission is operable via
column-mounted paddles finished in anodized black.

Standard appointments include second-row captain's chairs and a
Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound system. Each ALPINA XB7
MANUFAKTUR is also accompanied by two handmade ALPINA weekender bags –
crafted in brown LAVALINA leather and trimmed with the ALPINA script
in coordinating green and blue — designed in concert with the
vehicle's interior palette rather than added to it.

631 hp bi-turbo V8, ALPINA-tuned chassis, and 0-100 in 4.2 seconds.

At the heart of every ALPINA XB7 MANUFAKTUR is the 4.4-litre bi-turbo
V8, based on the BMW S68 engine and producing 631 hp and 590 lb-ft of
torque. Paired with an 8-speed ALPINA Switch-Tronic transmission and
integrated 48-volt starter-generator, the XB7 MANUFAKTUR reaches 0-100
km/h in 4.2 seconds while delivering the relaxed, effortless cruising
refinement that defines the ALPINA driving experience.

The standard 2-axle air suspension features ALPINA-specific damper
and kinematic tuning, allows a range of 80 mm of adjustable ride
height. Below 30 km/h, ride height can be raised 40 mm for clearance;
at higher speeds, it lowers automatically by 20 mm – or 40 mm in
SPORT+ mode above 250 km/h – for a reduced centre of gravity and
sharper dynamics. Active Roll Stabilization with electromechanical
anti-roll bars and stiffer rear axle bushings minimise body roll
without compromising the XB7 MANUFAKTUR's signature ride quality.

Integral Active Steering delivers direct response and rear-axle
turning of up to 2.3° for both low-speed agility and high-speed
stability. Three driver-selectable modes – COMFORT, SPORT, and SPORT+
— allow the XB7 MANUFAKTUR to be precisely tailored to any driving situation.

Deliveries of the 2026 ALPINA XB7 MANUFAKTUR are expected to begin in
the fourth quarter of 2026.

Richmond Hill, ON. More presence, more sportiness,
more technology: The new 2023 BMW X7 breaks new ground for richly
assured driving pleasure in the luxury car segment. The first BMW
Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) in this vehicle category offers an
inimitable combination of exclusivity, dynamic excellence, luxuriant
spaciousness, and versatility. Indeed, the X7 has quickly developed
into the most successful BMW model in the luxury class. And now its
unique character profile has been honed to significant effect thanks
to extensive design refinements – most notably a visually impactful
front end – plus a new-look M Sport package, light-alloy wheels
measuring up to 23 inches and the latest-generation control system
including BMW Curved Display and BMW iDrive 8. The new BMW X7 also
comes with a further expanded range of standard equipment, additional
driver assistance systems and the latest 48V mild hybrid technology
for both engine variants.

The new BMW X7 is a central pillar in the ongoing product offensive
at the most exclusive reaches of the premium carmaker’s model line-up.
The new X7 will be produced at BMW Group Plant Spartanburg, the global
competence centre for BMW X models where the BMW X6, X5, X4 and X3 are
also built. The market launch for the new BMW X7 will get underway in
the third quarter of 2022, with the ALPINA XB7 following in early 2023.

Modern front-end design adopts the new language of BMW’s
flagship models.

Its extensively revised front end ensures the new BMW X7 makes a
potent visual impact and sets it apart clearly from the other BMW X
models. The new structure and design of the front end pick up on
signature BMW design cues such as the twin headlights. In their newly
interpreted form, the headlights emphasize the car’s upright stance
and reinforce its road presence.

For the first time on any BMW, split headlight units have been
employed to provide the daytime driving lights on the one hand and to
illuminate the road ahead on the other. The two LED units mounted high
on either side of the front end shine out of the narrow glass covers
as daytime driving lights. With their crisp contours depicting an
upturned L-shape, they project a chic and technically sophisticated
appearance and further increase the car’s presence. The daytime
driving lights also function as turn signal indicators.

The low-beam and high-beam headlights are generated by two other LED
units in separate modules below the daytime driving lights. Their dark
housing and deep-set position in the front fascia give these modules
the impression of retreating into the background and only coming to
the fore when activated.

The ALPINA XB7 will be further distinguished by the classic ALPINA
front apron to produce a perfectly shaped, powerful appearance.

Newly designed BMW kidney grille with cascade lighting.

The updated front-end design also showcases BMW’s signature kidney
grille to prominent effect. The intricately presented new grille bars
– with their bi-colour look and chrome elements – add a flourish of
exclusivity within the grille’s eye-catching surround.

The illuminated kidney grille is optional on X7 xDrive40i and
standard on the X7 M60i. Its understated cascade lighting for the two
grille elements brings a dramatic impression to the front end of the
new BMW X7 when parked or on the move. The illumination is activated
when one of the doors is opened and can be switched on or off manually
by the driver via the iDrive menu.

In conjunction with the new design of the headlights and kidney
grille, the front fascia as a whole displays a thoroughly updated
look. Its generously sized surfaces, the precisely integrated air
curtains, and its finish in body colour underscore the exclusive
appearance of the new BMW X7. Another distinctive feature are the
large inlays in satin aluminum which border the lower air intake on
either side. With their outward-facing contour, they accentuate the
powerful stance of the new BMW X7 on the road.

Detailed refinements for the rear end, including
three-dimensional lights.

Light units now with three-dimensional sculpting add a striking
accent to the rear of the new BMW X7. Their LED light sources form a
single unit with the glass covers, accentuating the sophisticated
technology of the lights. The L-shaped rear light strips generate
significantly greater light intensity, enabling them to double as
brake lights. The light units can therefore be kept extremely slim.
The turn indicators are housed in the upper sections. The sections of
the rear lights extending into the flanks of the car display a
geometric graphic and BMW lettering. The slim chrome bar connecting
the two light units on the new BMW X7 is enclosed within an exquisite
glass cover.

The XB7 will be instantly identifiable by the four oval tailpipes of
the sport exhaust system, beautifully integrated into the ALPINA rear apron.

New exterior colours.

A total of 14 exterior colour shades will be available for the new
BMW X7 from launch, including the new Sparkling Copper Grey metallic
variant. Marina Bay Blue metallic is available exclusively for the BMW
X7 M60i. Also available are the BMW Individual finishes Ametrine
metallic, Dravit Grey metallic, Tanzanite Blue II metallic and Frozen
Pure Grey metallic.

In addition to this, around 40 BMW Individual colours are available
for the new BMW X7 on special request. These include metallic shades
such as Daytona Violet and Ruby Red, plus non-metallic or matte
finishes. These exclusive paint finishes are applied by hand in a
meticulous process. The spectrum of colours is being expanded all the time.

New M Sport Package provides dynamic looks.

Aerodynamically optimized exterior features and numerous design
elements in a high-gloss black finish set the tone for the appearance
of the BMW X7 xDrive40i with optional M Sport Package. The front and
rear aprons boast an M-specific design, as do the side skirts.
Features of the front apron include a large lower air intake and
high-gloss black trim on the outer edges of the air curtains. The roof
rails, side window surrounds, air breathers and the adjoining trim
strips along the door sills and at the rear are also finished in
high-gloss black. Double-spoke bi-colour 21-inch M light-alloy wheels
add further to the dynamic aura. An inlay in Dark Shadow and
trapezoidal exhaust tailpipe finishers are the defining elements of
the rear end’s sporty look.

The list of M-specific features for the interior includes illuminated
door sill plates bearing the M logo, an M leather steering wheel, an
Anthracite Alcantara roofliner, stainless-steel M pedals, an M
driver’s dead pedal, and model-specific floor mats. An M logo in the
instrument cluster display and an M-specific vehicle key also part of
the M Sport Package’s content.

X7 M60i: high-performance with high-impact visuals.

M-specific exterior features including large air intakes and
aerodynamically optimized details also help to endow the new BMW X7
M60i with an extremely striking appearance. Exclusive design elements
are further indicators of the range-topper’s standout performance. An
M logo on a black background adorns the standard illuminated BMW
kidney grille, featuring matte black bars with high-gloss surfaces.
Aerodynamically optimized M exterior mirrors help to send a clear
message of performance.

M Double-spoke burnished 22-inch light-alloy wheels are fitted as
standard on the new BMW X7 M60i. Moving to the rear, the standout
feature is the exhaust system’s twin tailpipe finishers on the left
and right.

Inside, the M Sport design is supplemented by illuminated door sill
plates with “M60i” lettering, an M leather steering wheel with
stitching in the BMW M colours, interior trim strips in Fineline wood
with high-gloss metal effect, an M-specific ambient lighting bar and a
roofliner in Anthracite Alcantara. This imbues the new BMW X7 M60i
with a cabin ambience majoring in focused driving pleasure.

Interior trim in Carbon Fiber is available as an option for the new
BMW X7 M60i and X7 xDrive40i (the latter with M Sport Package equipped).

New: M Sport ProPackage and “BMW M 50 Years” emblems.

The new M Sport Pro Package highlights the sporty streak in the X7’s
character even more emphatically. When fitted as an optional upgrade
for the M Sport Package on X7 xDrive40i, it adds Black Exterior
Contents including a matte black surround for the kidney grille and
tailpipe finishers in Black Chrome, M Sport brakes with black brake
calipers bearing the M logo, an M Sport exhaust system, and the
Illuminated Kidney Grille.

The M Sport Professional package is also available on the X7 M60i.
Here, it consists of black brake calipers and Black Exterior Contents.

Standard on the X7 xDrive40i with M Sport Package and X7 M60i, M
Sport brakes with blue brake calipers are available as an alternative
to black brake calipers within the M Sport Pro Package.

Another particularly striking detail can be added to the BMW X7 M60i
in celebration of BMW M GmbH’s anniversary year. The optional “BMW M
50 Years” emblems for the hood, tailgate and hubcaps echo the classic
Motorsport emblems on the early racing cars created by BMW M.

Engines, transmissions, and BMW xDrive. New 48V mild hybrid
technology brings extra assurance and efficiency.

The new BMW X7 offers a choice of two state-of-the-art and extremely
powerful engines from the modular generation of the BMW Group
Efficient Dynamics engine family. The range is topped by a 523 hp
4.4-litre M TwinPower Turbo V8 in the BMW X7 M60i. The X7 xDrive40i is
powered by a 3.0-litre TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder, which has
been given a 40 hp boost to 375.

V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology and optimized
efficiency in the BMW X7 M60i.

In the new BMW X7 M60i xDrive, the 48V mild hybrid system connects
with the updated 4.4-litre V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo
technology. The new V8 utilizes the thermodynamic benefits of a
cross-bank exhaust manifold, bank-symmetrical turbochargers, and
external engine oil cooling. In addition, a reinforced crankshaft
drive, further developed turbocharging with a blow-off valve, a new
oil pump and a weight-minimized oil sump all play a role in increasing
the engine’s efficiency.

The combination of the engine and the electric motor integrated into
the 8-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission gives customers
the twin benefits of optimized response and power delivery under
acceleration and increased efficiency thanks to adaptive recuperation
at up to 0.13 g. The controlled intervention of the electric motor
also noticeably increases comfort levels when the Auto Start Stop
function cuts in and in idling and coasting situations. The coasting
function with deactivated combustion engine comes into play when the
Driving Experience Control mode ECO PRO is selected.

With its output of 523 hp and peak torque of 553 lb-ft, the
eight-cylinder engine propels the X7 M60i from 0 to 100 km/h in an
estimated 4.8 seconds. The relentless power development of the V8
engine is accompanied by an emotionally rich soundtrack from the
standard-fitted sports exhaust system.

Premiere of the new inline 6-cylinder engine in the BMW X7 xDrive40i.

Making its debut in the new BMW X7 xDrive40i, the 3-litre inline
6-cylinder engine boasts a wealth of innovations in the combustion
process, gas exchange, valve control, injection, and ignition system.
Its maximum output of 375 hp is up by 40 compared to its predecessor,
while peak torque rises by 52 lb-ft to 383 – and can be boosted to as
much 398 lb-ft with the assistance of the mild hybrid system.

The Miller cycle shortens the opening time of the intake valves,
which subsequently leads to an increase in the effectiveness of the
turbocharging system and the intercooler. This reduces fuel
consumption and emission levels significantly across the entire load
range. The VALVETRONIC fully variable valve control now includes a
switchable rocker arm on the exhaust side, which allows gas exchange
to be interrupted, if required. This means that when the driver
releases the accelerator, a higher proportion of the braking energy
can be absorbed by the mild hybrid system’s generator and fed into the
48V battery by means of recuperation.

The VANOS variable camshaft timing now works electrically. This means
the adjustment range can be expanded to minimize emissions even
further. Power development and emissions also benefit from a new
exhaust manifold integrated into the cylinder head. The new engine
accelerates the BMW X7 xDrive40i from 0 to 100 km/h in an estimated
5.8 seconds.

New 4.4-litre bi-turbo V8 with 48V mild hybrid technology for
the ALPINA XB7.

The enhancements engineered into the powertrains of the X7 also
benefit the upcoming XB7 luxury-performance SAV. ALPINA engineers have
adapted the powerful 8-cylinder engine specifically to the ALPINA
drivetrain philosophy of enormous power and prodigious low-RPM torque.
As a result, the 4.4-litre bi-turbo V8 now produces 630 hp and 590
lb-ft of torque.

New eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission with Launch
Control and Sprint function.

All model variants of the new BMW X7 are fitted with a new 8-speed
Steptronic Sport automatic transmission. Super-fast gear changes and
sharper shift characteristics bring additional sporting verve to the
driving experience.

Drivers will also be able to make use of the new Sprint function when
a quick burst of speed is needed. When the driver pulls the left-hand
shift paddle for at least one second, the transmission automatically
shifts into the lowest usable gear. At the same time, all the
powertrain and chassis systems are switched to their sportiest
settings and the mild hybrid system’s electric boost effect is activated.

Driving dynamics and chassis technology. Covering all the
bases in agility and comfort.

The BMW X7 is renowned for exceptional comfort. The adaptive two-axle
air suspension works in harmony with electronically controlled dampers
to deliver signature BMW dynamic prowess combined with excellent
comfort on long journeys. Standard specification for the new BMW X7
M60i now includes Integral Active Steering and active roll
stabilization, both of which are available as options for the X7 xDrive40i.

All the chassis systems have been retuned for the new BMW X7 to
enable it to span the widest possible spectrum between sporty handling
and driving comfort. The scope of its performance repertoire can be
explored via the Driving Experience Control modes. The BMW X7 M60i
boasts a specialized chassis setup, including extra-stiff upper mounts
for the front axle control arms and specially tuned springs and
dampers. Alongside improved steering precision, this results most
prominently in sharper agility and cornering dynamics.

The Integral Active Steering system that comes as standard in the new
BMW X7 M60i and as part of the optional Dynamic Handling Package
available for the xDrive40i makes even lighter work of maneuvering,
increases agility at moderate speeds and optimizes poise at high
speeds, particularly when changing lanes. Speed-sensitive control of
the rear-wheel steering means the wheels are turned in either the same
or the opposite direction to the front wheels, depending on road
speed. And in very challenging driving situations, stabilizing
steering inputs at the rear wheels can help to keep the BMW X7 safely
on track. Steering the rear wheels in the opposite direction to the
front wheels at low speeds enables easy maneuvering and noticeably
reduces its turning circle.

Active Comfort Drive with Road Preview: first class agility
and comfort.

Active Comfort Drive with Road Preview (standard in the new BMW X7
M60i, and part of the Dynamic Handling Package on the xDrive40i)
promises supremely assured and dynamic handling ability thanks to its
active roll stabilization. Roll stabilization at both axles is
combined with the adaptive suspension and factors in additional
information from the navigation system, driving style analysis, and
camera-based anticipation data to maximize both dynamic prowess and
ride comfort.

Since the adaptive air suspension with self-levelling function
maintains the full range of spring travel when the vehicle is carrying
a load, the addition of active roll stabilization makes it possible to
activate a softer air spring setting and increase ride comfort. The
anti-roll bars between the wheels are disconnected, reducing the
amount of body roll caused by surface imperfections on one side of the
vehicle. This has the effect of decreasing the lateral acceleration
forces and the obtrusive “head toss” they cause. The active anti-roll
bars counter centrifugal force in corners, thereby reducing body roll
significantly and further enhancing driving comfort.

23-inch light-alloy wheels available for a BMW model for the
first time.

Standard specification for the BMW X7 xDrive40i includes 21-inch
light-alloy wheels on 285/45R tires. The new BMW X7 M60i rides as
standard on 22-inch M light-alloy wheels with 275/40R tires up front
and 315/35R tires at the back. 22-inch light-alloy wheelsin a variety
of designs and with mixed-size tires can be found on the options list.
And the new BMW X7 is offered with the option of factory-fitted
23-inch light-alloy wheels. The 23-inch BMW Individual light-alloy
wheels are fitted with performance tires measuring 275/35R at the
front and 315/30R at the rear.

Besides its tire pressure indicator for each individual wheel, the
new BMW X7 also features a digital tire diagnosis function as
standard. The only one of its kind in this segment, this function uses
a cloud-based algorithm to detect pressure loss far sooner than the
vehicle’s Tire Pressure Monitor can. The driver is notified of any
pressure loss together with the recommended course of action via the
My BMW App. Statistical information and AI methods can also be
employed to predict wear performance for the vehicle’s tires and
thereby forecast the remaining tire life until the recommended minimum
tread depth is reached. The digital tire diagnosis function can be set
to automatically inform the customer of any tire-related technical
issue requiring action.

A sumptuous feeling of space, innovative digital services.

The new BMW X7 delivers generous levels of spaciousness for
passengers in six or seven seats. The new design of the interior with
the sweeping BMW Curved Display, a new instrument panel including an
ambient light bar in its lower section and new upholstery variants
create an innovative and exclusive ambience. The latest generation of
BMW iDrive and new digital services underscore the modern and
progressive mission statement of the new BMW X7.

Like the spacious and versatile nature of the interior, high-quality
materials and further expanded standard equipment also help to
generate an exclusive on-board ambience. For example, comfort seats
for the driver and front passenger are now standard on X7 xDrive40i.
And the functionality of the driver assistance and parking systems
available as standard or as options has been significantly expanded
for the new BMW X7.

An all-encompassing focus on sustainability.

The BMW Group has set out exacting sustainability targets in its
corporate strategy which will be applied as part of an
all-encompassing approach across the vehicle lifecycles. For example,
the procurement strategy in place focuses on meeting environmental and
social standards, respecting human rights, protecting natural
resources, and reducing CO2 emissions. Power generated from renewable
sources is used for vehicle production at BMW Group Plant Spartanburg.
And BMW is increasing its use of secondary raw materials. For example,
the air ducts for the braking system, radiator and rear heating in the
new BMW X7 are manufactured from 50 per cent recycled plastic and the
cable channels from 100 per cent recycled plastic. The luggage
compartment trim paneling is likewise made from fully recycled
plastic. And the BMW X7’s floor mats consist of a plastic thread known
as Econyl, which is made from recycled nylon waste in a specially
developed process. The CO2 emissions from manufacture of the recycled
plastic are around 80 per cent below the levels posted in conventional
production of petroleum-based nylon.

Now standard: heated comfort seats for the driver and front
passenger.

The new BMW X7 provides heated comfort seats for the driver and front
passenger as standard. These offer fully electric adjustment of the
seat position and head restraint height (including memory function),
plus lumbar support. Active seat ventilation and a massage function
for the driver and front passenger also come standard on the X7 M60i
and can be added as an option on the X7 xDrive40i.

A new, extremely high-quality vegan surface material called Sensafin
comes as standard equipment in both models. Sensafin has leather-like
properties, exclusive three-dimensional quilting, and surface
perforation to enhance seating comfort. It is available in Black,
Silverstone, Cognac and Coffee.

BMW Individual Merino leather upholstery is optional on both models
and is available in Black, Ivory White, Tartufo and Coffee. BMW
Individual full Merino leather upholstery can also be optioned on the
X7 xDrive40i and the X7 M60i in Black, Tartufo, and for the first
time, Ivory White/Atlas Grey. This two-tone option shows off the
exclusive geometry of the interior surfaces particularly effectively.

Fully digital BMW Curved Display with intuitive touch control.

The progressive design of the cockpit in the new BMW X7 has brought
about a significant reduction in the number of buttons and controls in
favor of digital control for numerous functions. The integration of
the BMW Curved Display has been a driving force in the adoption of
this modern, digital direction of travel. The BMW Curved Display is
made up of a 12.3-inch information display behind the steering wheel
and a 14.9-inch Central Control Display. The two screens merge into
one fully digital and high-resolution display unit behind a single
glass surface. The BMW Curved Display is angled ergonomically towards
the driver, making the intuitive touch control even more
straightforward. However, the front passenger can also view the screen
content and operate the system using the iDrive controller,
touchscreen, and voice control. The high-quality display technology
using anti-reflective glass also makes it possible to dispense with
the customary binnacle for shielding the readouts from sunlight,
giving the cockpit area an uncluttered and airy appearance.

Slim instrument panel with innovative ambient light bar.

The integration of the BMW Curved Display is part of an all-new
design for the instrument panel. It has an extremely slim form in the
new BMW X7, its horizontal structure emphasizing the width of the
interior and exuding cutting-edge elegance. In the central area of the
instrument panel, the broad, smoothly curving trim element in standard
fine-grain wood provides the perfect stage for the BMW Curved Display.

Another new feature in the new BMW X7 is the ambient light bar, which
makes its debut here below the interior trim strip in the front
passenger area. Its crystalline surface structure and effective
backlighting – through the use of LED units and a graphic including
“X7” lettering (or the M logo in the new BMW X7 M60i) – enhance the
aura of exclusivity inside the cabin.

The ambient light bar is an integral element of the light effects
activated in various situations. In the Welcome Scenario, the driver
is greeted by effective brightening of the interior illumination as
they approach the car. When the driver gets out of the car and locks
it, the ambient lighting dims in a flowing movement from back to
front, with the light bar’s illumination concluding the sequence by
retracting dynamically towards the front passenger side of the car.
The light bar signals an incoming telephone call with a dynamic chaser
light, while the contour lighting in the first row of seats pulses in tandem.

The air vents in the instrument panel have been totally redesigned.
The central outlets are extremely slim and have been integrated into
the cockpit with subtle elegance. The outer vents have high-gloss
black slats and are bordered by delicate chrome surrounds.

Control panel in the centre console with new selector lever.

A newly-designed centre console control panel houses the iDrive
controller, the Start/Stop button and the buttons activating the
electric parking brake, and air suspension settings. Also found here
are the Driving Experience Control buttons and the newly designed gear selector.

Exclusive glass applications for selected controls can be specified
as an option. This both visually and haptically appealing design
enhancement adorns the selector lever, the Start/Stop button and the
iDrive Controller.

Display and operating system, connectivity. BMW Curved Display
and latest-generation BMW iDrive.

The BMW Live Cockpit Plus fitted as standard in the new BMW X7
includes the latest edition of the BMW iDrive display/operation
system. Boasting new-generation BMW iDrive 8 software along with
exceptionally powerful connectivity and data processing capabilities,
it takes the interaction between the driver and vehicle into the
digital future. The new BMW iDrive system offers many more options for
drivers to enjoy easy, intuitive, multimodal control of vehicle,
navigation, infotainment and communication functions, and digital services.

The user experience on board the new BMW X7 is underpinned by the
seamless interaction between the BMW Curved Display, voice control,
the iDrive Controller, the multifunction buttons on the steering wheel
and the BMW Head-Up Display that comes with the DigitalCockpit
Professional option.

Fully digital BMW Curved Display with state-of-the-art
graphics.

The BMW Curved Display in the new BMW X7 is formed by a 12.3-inch
information display and a 14.9-inch Central Control Display. The
screens are housed together behind a glass surface that curves towards
the driver, so they merge into a single, fully digital,
high-resolution unit. With its ergonomic driver-centric positioning,
the BMW Curved Display makes the already intuitive touch control even
more user-friendly. At the same time, the front passenger is also in
an ideal position to view the displays and operate the system by
either touch or voice control.

The BMW Curved Display’s state-of-the-art graphics and the operating
system’s menu structure have been designed with a smartphone-style
appearance. The user interface impresses with its striking forms,
dynamic light effects, and strong depth of colour. The graphical
layout of the information display and the content shown in the centre
of the display can each be adapted to suit the situation and
requirements. The clearly structured arrangement of widgets on the
control display’s home screen provides a simple overview of the menu
options and can be configured by the driver as desired. Frequently
used functions are given a prominent position.

Precision navigating with Augmented View.

The new Augmented View function within the navigation system included
as part of Digital Cockpit Professional enables the driver to find
their way with great accuracy by supplementing the navigation system’s
map view. A live video stream from the driver’s perspective is shown
on the centre display and augmented with context-specific information.
When dealing with confusing junctions, for instance, an animated
directional arrow is integrated into the video image to help the
driver take the best turn-off for the planned route.

Natural dialogue with the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.

The new generation of BMW iDrive also sees the BMW Intelligent
Personal Assistant gaining additional skills. Instructions in natural
speech can now be used to adjust the air conditioning, open a window,
or operate the panoramic glass roof, for instance. Various functions
of the driver assistance systems in the new BMW X7 can also be
controlled via voice command. The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant
is additionally capable of recognizing routines and proactively making
suggestions to the driver regarding user habits.

When the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant is in use, new graphics
appear in the control display to emphasize the system’s interactive
character. The graphic “turns” towards the speaker, thereby
visualizing how the system is listening attentively to what is being
said. This new visualization approach features spheres of light in
differing sizes and brightness levels, giving the assistant more space
and new ways of expressing itself. The Intelligent Personal Assistant
graphic can appear in the Head-Up Display, instrument cluster or
control display, depending on who addresses it.

Personalization using the BMW ID.

When customers interact with the new BMW iDrive 8 in the new BMW X7,
they will find their user experience is increasingly personalized
thanks to their BMW ID. When signing into a vehicle for the first
time, simply scanning a QR code is all it takes to create a new BMW ID
on a smartphone. The newly registered BMW ID is automatically signed
into the vehicle. From this point, any individual settings made by the
customer as they turn the vehicle into their own personal BMW X7 are
stored in the BMW ID. The vehicle is also automatically added to the
My BMW App.

Digital Key Plus provides exceptional convenience and
security.

The BMW Digital Key Plus enables customers to lock and unlock their
new BMW X7 with their Apple iPhone – via both Near Field Communication
(NFC) technology and security-enhanced ultra-wideband (UWB) radio
technology – without removing the phone from their pocket or bag,
making a conventional car key unnecessary. Once the user is on board,
the Apple iPhone can be simply left in their pocket or placed in the
smartphone tray. The BMW Digital Key Plus can be set up using the My
BMW App. The car owner can share access with up to five other users
and has the option of creating a configuration for young drivers which
restricts top speed, engine power, maximum radio volume and more via
their iPhone.

Welcome Scenario greets the X7 driver.

The engaging user experience starts before the driver has even
reached the vehicle thanks to a newly devised Welcome Scenario.
Ultra-wideband (UWB) radio technology allows precision location
pinpointing between the vehicle and the key or compatible smartphone.

Once the distance drops below three meters, an automated and
perfectly coordinated welcome sequence commences. It starts with an
orchestrated lighting effect using the exterior and interior lights,
including the light carpet. When the driver is about 1.5 meters away,
the doors automatically unlock. Once they are inside, the BMW Curved
Display shows a choreographed start-up animation with a personal
greeting in a customized welcome window, along with handy suggestions
and information. In addition to this, the BMW ID settings are loaded
and the smartphone is connected.

Driver assistance systems. Intelligent technology enhances
comfort and safety.

Standout innovations include the extended range of functions offered
by the frontal collision warning, route monitoring and traffic light
recognition features, as well as the Trailer Assistant and Maneuver
Assistant. Plus, existing functions can be improved or expanded by
means of Remote Software Upgrades.

Standard: frontal collision warning – for improved safety in
urban traffic – and Driving Assistant.

The front-collision warning system fitted as standard in the new BMW
X7 now comes with numerous additional functions, which help the driver
to prevent accidents in the same way as Collision Warning and
pedestrian and cyclist warning with braking function. The system now
also reacts to oncoming traffic, for example. And it provides
additional safety when turning right in urban areas by warning the
driver of pedestrians and cyclists approaching the vehicle parallel to
the road from the front or rear, reducing the risk of a collision.
Visual and acoustic warnings are triggered, and the brakes are applied
to prevent the driver from continuing with their turn.

Another new feature is the exit warning function, which provides
additional safety when the vehicle is stationary. It activates visual
and acoustic signals if a vehicle or cyclist is approaching the BMW X7
at speed and there is a risk of collision on either side of the
vehicle if a door were to be opened. The driver or front passenger is
alerted to the danger by flashing LEDs in the mirror or the ambient
lighting. An acoustic warning is also emitted.

The right speed for every situation – automatically.

The route monitoring function within Active Cruise Control also
considers the nature of the route being followed. This function uses
the navigation system’s map to look ahead and reduce the car’s speed
when approaching a corner, a roundabout, an intersection, or an exit.

Parking Assistant Professional with Maneuver Assistant.

The Parking Assistant Professional’s repertoire of functions now
includes the Trailer Assistant, which makes it easier to execute
reversing maneuvers when towing a trailer. The system does this by
turning the steering as necessary to move in the direction selected by
the driver with a turn of the iDrive Controller. And tilting the
Controller enables the BMW X7, complete with trailer, to be backed up
in a perfectly straight line.

The new Maneuver Assistant uses GPS data and the trajectory data from
steering movements to store up to ten different maneuvers covering a
distance of up to 200 meters each. When the vehicle next arrives at a
memorized starting point, such as the entrance to a narrow driveway
with tight curves, the maneuver Assistant will be able to carry out
all the tasks required to complete the maneuver, controlling the
accelerator, brakes and steering as well as changing gear to move
forward or reverse. While the automated maneuver is being performed,
the driver can focus on monitoring the vehicle’s surroundings. If they
so choose, the driver can even exit the vehicle and operate Maneuver
Assistant via the My BMW app.

Parking Assistant Professional also includes the Remote Theft
Recorder function. If the vehicle is stolen, this system sends a
message to the customer’s smartphone. The customer can then access and
store the videos recorded by the cameras at the front and rear of the
new BMW X7 and on its exterior mirrors.

Munich. For the third time in a row, BMW M GmbH ended
the financial year as the global market leader in the performance and
high-performance car segment. Indeed, the company posted record sales
once again in 2021. A total of 163,542 BMW M cars were delivered to
customers worldwide last year, a 13 percent increase on 2020.

This growth was spread equally between the High-Performance sports
cars and Performance cars made by BMW M GmbH, with both product
categories raising their sales figures to a new level. “This success
is the perfect start to our anniversary year,” says Franciscus van
Meel, CEO of BMW M GmbH. “M is in a stronger position than ever as it
celebrates its 50th birthday.”

New BMW M3 and new BMW M4 enjoy immediate success.

The biggest drivers of growth among the High-Performance sports cars
were the new BMW M3 and BMW M4 models introduced in spring 2021.
Fuelled by a vehicle concept focused squarely on emotionally charged
dynamism and unprecedented diversity in the model range, the new BMW
M3 Sedan (fuel consumption combined: 10.2 – 10.0 l/100 km [27.7 – 28.3
mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 231 – 227 g/km as per
WLTP), new BMW M4 Coupé (fuel consumption combined: 10.1 – 9.9 l/100
km [28.0 – 28.5 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined:
230 – 226 g/km as per WLTP) and new BMW M4 Convertible (fuel
consumption combined: 10.2 l/100 km [27.7 mpg imp]; CO2
emissions combined: 233 – 231 g/km as per WLTP) got off to an
extremely successful start. The latest model generation is the first
to offer customers two output levels topping out at 375 kW/510 hp, the
M xDrive all-wheel-drive system and a choice of either a six-speed
manual gearbox or the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission.

“The response to the new generation of the BMW M3 and BMW M4 has been
simply overwhelming,” reports Timo Resch, Vice President Customer,
Brand and Sales at BMW M GmbH. “We can therefore expect demand for
these iconic sports cars to continue on an upward curve in 2022.”

Also making a powerful contribution to the latest rise in
High-Performance model sales at BMW M GmbH were the BMW X5 M
Competition (fuel consumption combined: 13.6 – 13.3 l/100 km [20.8
– 21,2 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 308 – 303 g/km as
per WLTP) and BMW X6 M Competition (fuel consumption combined:
13.4 – 13.1 l/100 km [21.1 – 21.6 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions
combined: 305 – 299 g/km as per WLTP). Following the successful market
launch of the latest model generation the previous year, the
charismatic High-Performance sports cars in the Sports Activity
Vehicle and Sports Activity Coupé segment – both powered by a 460
kW/625 hp V8 engine – increased their sales figures once again in 2021.

Alluring and in demand: the BMW M models in the BMW 4 Series range.

The dynamic excellence, agility and precision for which M is renowned
also enabled the brand’s Performance models to delight and excite a
wide range of customers over the past year. Credit for the latest
boost to sales goes above all to the M models based on the new BMW 4
Series. Particularly popular were the variants of the new BMW 4 Series
Coupé, whose line-up consists of the BMW M440i Coupé (fuel consumption
combined: 8.1 – 7.4 l/100 km [34.8 – 38.2 mpg imp]; CO2
emissions combined: 184 – 167 g/km as per WLTP) and BMW
M440i xDrive Coupé (fuel consumption combined: 8.2 – 7.5 l/100 km
[34.5 – 37.7 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined:
186 – 170 g/km as per WLTP) powered by a 275 kW/374 hp six-cylinder
in-line petrol engine, and the BMW M440d xDrive Coupé (fuel
consumption combined: 6.3 – 5.7 l/100 km [44.8 – 49.6 mpg imp];
CO2 emissions combined: 165 – 150 g/km as per WLTP), whose
six-cylinder in-line diesel unit produces 250 kW/340 hp.

The latest BMW X models within the ranks of M’s Performance cars also
proved extremely desirable. Indeed, the BMW X3 M40i powered by a
six-cylinder in-line engine with 265 kW/360 hp (fuel consumption
combined: 9.5 – 8.8 l/100 km [29.7 – 32.1 mpg imp]; CO2
emissions combined: 216 – 199 g/km as per WLTP) and the BMW X7 M50i
(fuel consumption combined: 12.8 – 12.3 l/100 km [22.1 – 23.0 mpg
imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 292 – 280 g/km as per WLTP)
with its 390 kW/530 hp V8 unit both posted an increase in new registrations.

Looking ahead to an anniversary year brimming with highlights.

BMW M GmbH will continue its product offensive in this anniversary
year with the addition of new High-Performance and Performance models.
Highlights include the new BMW M240i xDrive Coupé (fuel consumption
combined: 8.8 – 8.1 l/100 km [32.1 – 34.9 mpg imp]; CO2
emissions combined: 200 – 185 g/km as per WLTP) and the arrival later
in the year of the first BMW M3 Touring and an exclusive
special-edition model based on the new BMW M4 Coupé.

In addition, the BMW Group subsidiary – which was founded as BMW
Motorsport GmbH in May 1972 and enjoys the status of an independent
manufacturer – will also drive the transformation to electric
mobility. Following in the tyre tracks of the BMW i4 M50 (electric
power consumption combined: 22.5 – 18.0 kWh/100 km as per WLTP;
CO2 emissions combined: 0 g/km) in the first half of 2022
will be the likewise fully electric BMW iX M60 (projected electric
power consumption combined: 24.7 – 21.7 kWh/100 km as per WLTP;
CO2 emissions combined: 0 g/km).

The most powerful BMW M model ever made points the way to the
future of the brand.

The anniversary year will be crowned by the start of production of
the BMW XM. The most powerful BMW M car ever to go into series
production is also the brand’s first High-Performance model to employ
a plug-in hybrid drive system. Its newly developed M Hybrid technology
brings together a V8 engine and a high-performance electric motor to
develop maximum output of 550 kW/750 hp and peak torque of 1,000 Nm
(737 lb-ft). The design of the BMW XM majors on presence and extrovert
appeal and in so doing sends out a clear statement in the luxury segment.

“Our first standalone model since the legendary BMW M1 represents a
complete re-imagining of the high-performance car segment,” says van
Meel. “The BMW XM blends expressive design and progressive interior
luxury with an incomparable driving experience that serves up both
sublime performance and the ability to glide along in near silence in
all-electric mode. In so doing, it provides an inimitable expression
of poise and assurance, and at the same time points the way to the
future of our brand.”

Press Contact: Marc Belcourt
Tel: +1-905-428-5078
E-mail: marc.belcourt@bmwgroup.ca

Press Release,Sales & Finance,M4,M3,BMW i,G26,i4 M50,G07,X7,G80,X3,X5 M,X6 M,4 Series,G01,F97,iX,X3 M,F95,F96,i20,M240,Product,BMW,BMW M

Munich. The experience of luxurious driving pleasure
has reached a whole new dimension in the BMW X7. The first Sports
Activity Vehicle (SAV) in the luxury segment combines a striking
appearance with generous interior comfort combined with the brand’s
hallmark sporty flair. An edition model now brings out the imposing
presence and exclusive charisma of the BMW X7 in a particularly
concentrated form. With its unique BMW Individual design and equipment
features, the BMW X7 Edition Dark Shadow underlines both the sporty
appearance and the luxury ambience of the largest SAV. The most
striking feature of the edition model is the BMW Individual special
paint finish in Frozen Arctic Grey metallic. This particularly
high-quality and elaborate variant of the body finish is now used for
the first time in a BMW X model. Additional selected variants of the
special BMW Individual paint finish will be added to the range of
optional equipment items for the BMW X7, BMW X6 and BMW X5 to coincide
with the start of production of the edition model.

The precisely coordinated details of the design and features for both
exterior and interior give the BMW X7 edition model the status of a
collector's item. The BMW X7 Edition Dark Shadow will be produced at
the BMW plant in Spartanburg/USA from August 2020 onwards in a limited
edition of about 500 units. The edition model is available worldwide
and can be combined with all engines offered for the BMW X7.

The expressive paint finish of the BMW X7 Edition Dark Shadow is
supplemented with the BMW Individual High Gloss Shadow Line including
extended features. This means that in addition to the side window
surrounds, the covers of the B and C columns and the exterior mirror
bases, a black chrome finish is also featured on the frame and the
bars of the BMW kidney grille, the Air Breathers and the tailpipe
covers of the exhaust system. This creates a subtle contrast to the
matt shimmering body surfaces, also emphasised by the BMW Individual
Roof Rail High Gloss Shadow Line and the sun protection glazing. The
dynamic character of the SAV is emphasised by the aerodynamically
optimised bodywork elements of the M sports package, which also forms
part of the equipment package for the edition model. Another exclusive
feature of the BMW X7 Edition Dark Shadow is the 22-inch M light-alloy
wheels in V-spoke design with a Jet Black matt finish and fitted with
mixed tyres. The superior performance of the engine is accompanied by
the emotionally powerful sound of the M sports exhaust system.

An impressive combination of sporty flair and luxurious ambience also
characterises the interior of the edition model, which is available
with either six or seven seats. The driver and front passenger enjoy
the superior sporty flair of the luxurious SAV on electrically
adjustable comfort seats with memory function. An M leather steering
wheel and BMW Individual equipment details specially developed for the
BMW X7 Edition Dark Shadow bear witness to the very highest level of
exclusivity. A contributing factor here is the BMW Individual Merino
full leather upholstery in the specific two-tone variant Night
Blue/Black with contrasting seams, as is the BMW Individual roof liner
in Night Blue with Alcantara finish. The upper part of the instrument
panel and the armrests of the doors are covered with nappa leather in
Night Blue. Black merino leather is used in the lower section of the
instrument panel and on the front backrests. In addition, BMW
Individual interior trim finishers in Fineline Black with aluminium
inlays contribute to the fascinating aura of the edition model’s
interior. In the centre console area, the unique design is underscored
by means of BMW Individual interior trim finishers in Piano Black
finish bearing an edition logo.

In addition to the Frozen Arctic Grey metallic version available
exclusively for the BMW X7 Edition Dark Shadow, additional special BMW
Individual finishes will be integrated into the production process at
the BMW plant in Spartanburg from August 2020. This means that the BMW
X7, BMW X6 and BMW X5 models can now also be given a particularly
high-quality finish in Urban Green and Grigio Telesto metallic.

Press Contact: Marc Belcourt
Tel: +1-905-428-5078
E-mail: marc.belcourt@bmwgroup.ca

Press Release,G07,X7,Product,BMW

Richmond Hill, ON. Today, BMW is pleased to introduce
two new M Performance models, the BMW X5 M50i and BMW X7 M50i, which
join the X5 and X7 lineups this fall when production begins in BMW
Plant Spartanburg, SC.

Both models feature the new top version of the N63 4.4L TwinPower
Turbo V8 engine backed by an eight-speed sport automatic transmission,
BMW’s xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive , M Sport differential, M
Sport exhaust system and model-specific M GmbH suspension tuning.

Offering true sports car performance, both BMW Sports Activity
Vehicles offer excellent handling and traction across varied surfaces
and weather conditions complemented by luxurious interior appointments
and the same towing capabilities as their non-M Performance siblings.

Power and performance

The latest generation of the 4.4-liter eight-cylinder engine features
numerous detailed improvements. Two twin-scroll turbochargers with
charge air cooling located within the V-shaped space between the
cylinder banks, High Precision Injection, VALVETRONIC fully variable
valve control and Double-VANOS variable camshaft timing all form part
of the M Performance TwinPower Turbo technology package which delivers
523 hp between 5,500 and 6,000 rpm and 553 lb-ft of torque between
1,800 – 4,600 rpm. An increase of 67 hp and 74 lb-ft of torque over
the X5 xDrive50i and X7 xDrive50i models.

A new aluminium alloy has been used to increase the strength of the
engine block. The wire-arc sprayed iron coating for the cylinder walls
serves to reduce frictional losses. Reinforced, Grafal-coated pistons
and optimized piston rings are designed to endure the stress on the
crank drive that comes with the extra output and torque. To enhance
engine smoothness, torsional vibration is minimized with the help of a
viscous damper on the crankshaft.

The BMW X5 M50i accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 4.2
seconds with the larger X7 M50i close behind at 4.6 seconds. Both
vehicles feature electronically limited top speeds of 210 km/h when
equipped with all-season tires and 250 km/h when equipped with summer
performance tires.

Eight-speed Sport Automatic transmission

The eight-speed Sport Steptronic transmission’s new control
electronics help to increase the powertrain’s overall performance and
efficiency. Intelligent connectivity enables the Sport automatic
transmission to adapt its shift strategy according to the route and
driving situation by working with the navigation system and combining
this data with information from the Active Cruise Control system’s
radar sensor. This makes it possible for the transmission to shift
proactively instead of reactively insuring that the vehicle is always
in the correct gear for the upcoming road conditions.

Shift paddles on the steering wheel allow for quick manual gear
selection, while a Launch Control function allows for accelerating
from a standing start with maximum available traction.

xDrive all-wheel drive with M Sport rear differential.

BMW’s rear-biased xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system, found in
the X5 M50i and X7 M50i, is able to split drive-torque between the
front and rear wheels with great speed and precision. Full power can
be directed automatically by the system to the rear wheels in
situations where all-wheel drive traction is not required.

The standard electronically controlled rear M Sport differential
helps support dynamic driving by optimizing the transfer of power to
the road in all driving situations. Managed by the Dynamic Stability
Control (DSC) system, the locking function for the rear differential
improves traction and power delivery when driving over road surfaces
with differing levels of grip for the left-rear and right-rear wheels
by reducing wheel spin when a specific tire is struggling for traction.

Chassis and Suspension

The BMW X5 M50i and X7 M50i models feature a double-wishbone front
and five-link rear suspension that has been painstakingly gone over by
M GmbH. This setup provides the best balance of exceptional traction
on rough terrain and excellent dynamic response and ride comfort on
pavement. The bushings, spring and damper settings have all been tuned
to complement the new models’ increased power and performance.

The BMW X5 M50i is equipped with the Adaptive M Suspension while the
BMW X7 M50i is equipped with a two-axle adaptive air suspension system
(optional on the X5 M50i) which allows for a 20 mm lowering of ride
height when in Sport mode or when speeds exceed 72 km/h. The driver
may also increase vehicle ride height of adaptive air suspension
equipped vehicles by 40 mm for greater ground clearance when required.

Wheels, Tires and Brakes

Both models are equipped with large M Sport Brakes featuring
two-piece, lightweight compound brake disks with blue painted calipers

BMW Live Cockpit Professional: Seventh generation of BMW iDrive

The BMW Live Cockpit Professional combines a new display and control
concept and the ultimate in connectivity to create a superb all-round
package. The latest-generation of the iDrive comprises a
high-resolution digital 31.2 cm (12.3”) instrument cluster display
behind the steering wheel and a similarly-sized center display. The
system offers many hardware upgrades including new haptic controls on
the iDrive controller, an advanced tablet-like touch interface,
stunning visualizations, and the largest displays available in a BMW.
The multi-modal approach of the iDrive touch controller, large
touchscreen center display, cloud based voice control, and gesture
control allow users to interact in the way of their choosing.

The seventh incarnation of iDrive has a cutting-edge, fully-digital
design and is geared more closely to the driver’s needs by allowing
them to tailor the system to their own preferences with customizable
widgets of information. This new level of personalization is then
stored in the BMW cloud and can follow the customer to other BMW
vehicles. Information from categories such as driving, entertainment,
navigation, connectivity, and from the vehicle info itself, can be
selected in nearly any combination in any of four layouts on the
Center Display. Multiple pages can be created and easily accessed with
a simple swipe across the screen with a finger.

Other elements of the BMW Live Cockpit Professional are the
Navigation Professional system, a hard-drive-based multimedia system
with 20 GB of memory and six USB ports, plus Bluetooth interfaces. The
driver can be automatically detected and personal settings activated
either using the traditional vehicle key or by downloading the
driver’s personal settings from the BMW Cloud.

A collection of bundled digital services will be offered as the
Connected Package Professional. The Connected Package Professional
provides Remote Services, Concierge Services, On-Street Parking
Information, and Real Time Traffic Information for the first 4 years
of ownership. This package allows easy integration and adaptation of
new technology over time. Customers can continue to download various
new digital services individually as they become available or renew
existing services via the ConnectedDrive Store.

Press Contact: Marc Belcourt
Tel: +1-905-428-5078
E-mail: marc.belcourt@bmwgroup.ca

Press Release,G07,X7,X5,G05,Product,BMW

Richmond Hill, ON. Today, BMW launches the first ever
2019 BMW X7, the pinnacle of BMW’s X Sport Activity Vehicle lineup.
The BMW X7 builds on the class leading comfort, handling, safety and
technology of all the previous BMW X Sport Activity Vehicle model
lines that have been produced at Plant Spartanburg since 1999.

The 2019 BMW X7 offers standard three row seating for 7 with optional
Second-row Captain’s Chairs offering a more exclusive seating
arrangement for 6. Standard two-axle air suspension, 21-inch alloy
wheels and advanced driver assistance systems ensure that the all-new
BMW X7 lives up to expectations of style, driver engagement, passenger
comfort and all-weather and all-terrain capability.

BMW X7 exterior: A new dimension in luxury

BMW has pulled back the covers on a new definition of automotive
luxury. The BMW X7 blends presence, exclusivity and spaciousness with
the versatile and agile driving properties customers would expect from
a Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV). The newest and largest model in the
BMW X line-up uses outstanding powertrain options and chassis
technology, plus generous levels of space in each of its three rows of
seats, a luxurious ambience and advanced equipment features, to
deliver unparalleled experiences for the driver and passengers.

BMW’s new design language brings the modern elegance characteristic
of the brand’s luxury-segment models to the exterior of the BMW X7,
and adds visual poise, assurance and an overriding sense of authority.
The all-new BMW X7 represents the next stage in the premium carmaker’s
ongoing model offensive in the luxury segment.

The expansive exterior dimensions of the new BMW X7 take luxury to a
new level. At 5151 mm in length, 2,000 mm wide and 1,805 mm tall, and
with a wheelbase of 3,105 mm, the X7 displays harmonious proportions
and establishes itself as the new head of the BMW X model family. A
new use of forms, dominated by clearly structured surfaces and precise
lines, lends the BMW X7 its modern aura. The largest kidney grill ever
designed for a BMW model features very prominently at the front of the
all-new BMW X7. Together with the slim twin headlights extending up to
the grill, it emphasizes the width of the car and creates presence.

When viewed from the side, the large windows and long, flowing
roofline of the all-new BMW X7 hint at a spacious interior bathed in
light. The rear doors are longer than the front doors, emphasizing the
spaciousness of the SAV’s rear compartment and making it even easier
to get in and out of the second and third row seats. Clearly
structured surfaces and the eye-catching character line rising up to
the rear are hallmarks of the brand’s new design language. The
versatile functionality of the all-new BMW X7 is highlighted by its
221 mm of ground clearance.

The sizeable dimensions of the all-new BMW X7 are also expressed at
the rear, which is broken up by horizontal lines and bordered by
vertical separating edges. The slim LED rear lights provide a clear
segmentation of the rear. Bridging the space between the two units is
a chrome bar – a design cue only previously encountered at the rear of
the BMW 7 Series luxury sedan.

BMW X7 Interior: More space for an exclusive ambiance

The impressive open expanses of the BMW X7 interior bring a new
sensation of space to the luxury segment. The three rows of seats
treat the driver and passengers to an exceptional feeling of roominess
within the X7’s elegantly appointed interior surroundings. Expansive
surfaces and clean structures give the instrument panel a modern look
and its lines flow smoothly into the door panels. Large trim surfaces
framed with electroplated accents on the instrument panel and center
console enhance the interior’s elegant and exclusive aura.

Grouped together clearly in the center console are the iDrive
Controller, newly designed gear selector, the start/stop button, the
Driving Experience Control switch controls, electronic parking brake
switch and controls governing the settings for the air suspension and
optional off-road modes. The control panel for the heating and air
conditioning system also has a new modern design.

A standard three-panel electronically controlled panoramic glass
sunroof floods the interior with light. Combined with the large
windows, the all-new BMW X7 offers a very open an airy environment to
all vehicle occupants, irrespective of which seat they are in.
Electrically controlled sliding headliner shades are standard for the
front, center and rear sunroof with the third row passengers having
their own controls for the rear sliding shade.

The roominess and versatility of the interior are underlined by the
standard fitment of three rows of seats (offering space for seven
people in total). The two passengers in the third row can settle into
full-size seats that are fully capable of accommodating adult
passengers over longer journeys. Comfort levels here are enhanced by
an additional glass roof element, cup holders and armrests integrated
into the side panel trim. The standard second row configuration offers
seating for three. Alternatively, two extremely comfortable individual
Captain’s Chairs can be specified for the middle row as an option.
These comfort seats offer the same range of adjustments as the seats
for the driver and front passenger. The individual seats for the
second row also feature integrated armrests and comfort cushions. Two
second-row seats with a space between them represent a first for an
SAV and create an exceptionally luxurious ambience in the rear
compartment. The space between the individual seats also provides an
access route to the third row.

In either standard or optional configuration, the second-row seats in
the X7 slide fore and aft through 145 mm of travel. Adjustment of the
fore/aft position – like all other seat positions and backrest angles
– is electric for the first, second and third row of seats. The
backrests of the seats in the second and third rows can be folded down
and raised electrically via switches located on the driver’s side as
you enter through the rear doors and in the cargo area. The seats in
the second row can also be tilted forward fully to make getting in and
out as easy as possible for third-row passengers. The second-row seats
can be returned to their upright position at the touch of a button, at
which point child seats can be fixed in place securely and easily
using the ISOFIX attachments.

The fore/aft position of the second-row seats is adjusted using a
control panel integrated into the driver’s door. Drivers of the
all-new BMW X7 can move the front-passenger’s seat backwards and
forwards at the touch of a button located nearby. This allows the
driver to increase both legroom and ease of entry/exit for the
passengers in the second and third row of seats as required.
Additional buttons for seat and backrest adjustment are located in the
rear doors. The backrests of the second - and third-row seats can also
be folded down and raised – and the second-row seats moved fore and
aft – from the cargo area. When all six/seven seats are in use, the
all-new BMW X7 offers 1376 litres of load capacity. This increases to
a maximum 2560 litres when the backrests of the seats in the second
and third rows are folded down. The standard air suspension allows the
car to be lowered (at the touch of a button in the trunk) to make
loading easier. The all-new BMW X7 features a two-section split
tailgate, both elements of which have electric opening and closing as standard.

Power and Performance

The all-new 2019 BMW X7 launches with a choice of two updated
gasoline engines. Heading up the range is the BMW X7 xDrive50i, with
an extensively updated 4.4-liter V8 engine. A 3.0-liter inline
six-cylinder engine, found under the hood of the new BMW X7 xDrive40i
rounds out the model line-up. All engines channel their power through
an eight-speed Steptronic transmission, while BMW xDrive intelligent
all-wheel drive is on hand to ensure that power is transferred into
secure progress – on or off road.

The BMW TwinPower Turbo technology in both gasoline engines features
turbocharging, High Precision Injection, VALVETRONIC fully variable
valve timing and Double-VANOS variable camshaft timing.

The new V8 engine: Unrivalled power and an unmistakable sound

Fundamentally upgraded from crankcase to engine management system,
the eight-cylinder engine in the BMW X7 xDrive50i serves up an
intoxicating blend of power delivery and signature V8 soundtrack. The
two turbochargers’ positioning in the “V” between the banks of
cylinders is just one of the standout features of the 4.4-liter unit.
Newly designed heat plates ensure very effective thermal shielding for
the crankcase and cylinder head. A new ignition system allows the
engine to be restarted even more smoothly and swiftly when the Auto
Start Stop function is activated.

The new engine’s peak torque of 479 lb-ft is available over a broad
rev range from 1,500 to 4,750 rpm, while its maximum output of 456 hp
is on tap between 5,250 and 6,000 rpm. This formidable pulling power
is available early and doesn’t let up, resulting in a 0 to 100 km/h
time of 5.4 seconds.

Inline-six cylinder gasoline engine with a thirst for revs.

The power unit fitted in the new BMW X7 xDrive40i boasts the
free-revving ability inherent in all inline six-cylinder engines from
BMW, plus a wonderfully eager response. The 3.0-liter engine employs a
single twin-scroll turbocharger and direct injection technology whose
maximum pressure of 5,076 psi ensures the fuel is delivered in
extremely precise doses. The straight-six generates its maximum output
of 335 hp between 5,500 and 6,500 rpm, while the peak torque 330 lb-ft
is available from 1,500 – 5,200 rpm. The new BMW X7 xDrive40i
accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds.

Eight-speed Steptronic transmission: more seamless and integrated

Both engine variants of the new BMW X7 are linked with an improved
version of the eight-speed Steptronic transmission, whose wider ratio
spread and new control electronics help to increase the powertrain’s
overall efficiency. New torsion dampers reduce rotational forces and
converter slip for improved shift comfort.

Intelligent connectivity enables the sport automatic transmission to
adapt its shift strategy according to the route and driving situation.
By working with the navigation system, the 8-speed Steptronic
transmission sees the road ahead and combines this data with
information from the Active Cruise Control system’s (optional on the
X7 xDrive40i) radar sensor. This makes it possible for the
transmission to shift proactively instead of reactively insuring not
only that the shifts are more seamless but that the X7 is always in
the correct gear for the upcoming road conditions. When approaching a
vehicle ahead or approaching a downhill section for example, the
8-speed Steptronic transmission will shift down early in order to use
engine braking to maintain speed or decelerate.

The Auto Start Stop function and the coasting function available in
conjunction with the 8-speed Steptronic transmission in the new BMW X7
also benefit from data supplied by the navigation system and by data
supplied by the standard Active Guard driving assistance systems’
front camera. In this way, inefficient engine shutdown – for example
when stopping briefly at junctions or roundabouts – can be prevented.
Movement of vehicles ahead is registered in order to determine the
ideal moment for the Auto Start Stop function to stop and start the
engine. The coasting function is now available when either ECO Pro or
COMFORT mode is selected using the Driving Experience Control switch
between 15 and 160 km/h. The efficiency-enhancing decoupling of the
powertrain only takes place in driving situations where performance
and comfort would not be compromised. If the driver suddenly lifts off
the accelerator, the powertrain stays connected so that engine braking
can be used to support deceleration. For the same reason, powertrain
disconnection is also prevented when approaching a junction or a
vehicle ahead.

xDrive all-wheel drive with optional rear locking differential

The task of maximizing traction, agility and directional stability in
the new BMW X7 falls to the latest generation of the BMW xDrive
intelligent all-wheel-drive system, which is now able to split drive
torque between the front and rear wheels with even greater precision
and speed as the situation demands. For added efficiency, full power
can be directed completely to the rear wheels in situations where
all-wheel drive traction is not required.

The new xDrive system also offers a rear-biased set-up for those
occasions when the driver adopts a more sporting style of driving. The
optional electronically controlled rear differential lock (available
for the X7 xDrive50i in both the Dynamic Handling Package and in the
Off-Road Package) helps support these times of more dynamic driving.
By limiting equalization of the rotational speeds of the inside and
outside wheels through corners, the differential is able to optimize
the transfer of power to the road in all driving situations. As a
result, the new BMW X7 can power out of bends with exceptional
momentum. Managed by the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system, the
locking function for the rear differential also improves traction and
power delivery when driving over loose ground or on road surfaces
offering differing levels of grip for the left-rear and right-rear
wheels. It does so by preventing a wheel from spinning when it is
struggling for grip. The locking effect is produced by means of an
electric motor and allows as much as 1,106 lb-ft of drive torque to be
redirected from the wheel with less grip to the wheel with more grip.

Chassis and Suspension

The design of the new chassis, based on a double-wishbone front
suspension and a five-link rear suspension provides the best balance
of exceptional traction on rough terrain and excellent dynamic
response and ride comfort on pavement. The BMW X7 SAV comes standard
with the Dynamic Damper Control system with two-axle air suspension.
The electronically controlled dampers sharpen the SAV’s handling while
at the same time increasing ride comfort. The driver can select from
two performance maps for a more comfort-oriented or sportier driving style.

Chassis options available make it possible to boost the off-road
performance, sportiness or comfort of the all-new BMW X7 more
intensely and effectively than ever before.

The Active Comfort Drive with road preview works with the two-axle
air suspension and an active roll-stabilization system to not only
improve agility and directional stability when turning into corners
but to also optimize traction when accelerating out of them too. The
system uses camera sensors to preview the road ahead of the vehicle
and proactively make suspension adjustments to not only tighten up
suspension settings for upcoming turns but to also increase
straight-line comfort by actively countering oscillations triggered by
road surface imperfections.

Speed-dependent Integral Active Steering turns the rear wheels either
the same direction as the front, to enhance stability in high-speed
maneuvers such as lane changes, or in the opposite direction to the
front wheels, to facilitate low-speed maneuvering by decreasing the
turning radius.

The standard two-axle air suspension system with automatic
self-levelling not only provides a noticeable benefit to ride comfort
but also allows electronic adjustment of vehicle ride height to meet
various needs. The suspension’s air supply is controlled individually
for each wheel using an electrically driven compressor with pressure
reservoir, enabling it to balance out an unevenly loaded vehicle.

Since the air suspension works in tandem with the Dynamic Stability
Control (DSC) system, the vehicle load registered by its sensors can
be factored into braking calculations. When the SPORT driving mode is
engaged or the vehicle’s speed exceeds 85 mph, its ride height is
automatically lowered by 20 mm. The driver can also adjust the body’s
ground clearance – for off-road driving, for example – by pushing a
button in the cockpit. The vehicle can be raised in two stages up to a
maximum of 40 mm above the standard setting. Another button in the
luggage compartment activates a loading mode that lowers the vehicle
by 40 mm. The next time the engine is started, the system will
automatically revert to the last mode selected. The desired vehicle
ride height can even be set with the engine switched off by using the
optional BMW Display Key.

evenly across the glass surfaces to illuminate more than 15,000
graphic patterns and generate a display reminiscent of a starlit sky.
The color scheme of this atmospheric light show can be adapted as desired.

Standard Driver Assist Systems

Offering a significantly expanded array of driver assistance systems,
the new BMW X7 is able to support the driver through an array of
interconnected sensors by processing camera images and data acquired
by radar.

The BMW X7 xDrive40i comes standard with Active Protection and Active
Driving Assistant including Blind Spot Detection, Lane Departure
Warning, Rear Collision Warning, Frontal Collision Warning and
Pedestrian Warning with City Collision Mitigation (which now also
alerts the driver if cyclists are detected) Cross Traffic Alert Rear,
and Speed Limit Information.

The BMW X7 xDrive50i adds standard Parking Assistant Plus which
provides Top View, Panorama View and 3D View. The xDrive50i also
includes Head-Up Display and Active Driving Assistant Professional
with Active Lane Keeping Assistant and Extended Traffic Jam Assistant
for limited access highways.

Active Driving Assistant Professional: Comprehensive safety
and comfort

The available Driving Assistant Professional package is comprised of
the Extended Traffic Jam Assist with extended hands-off time as well
as the Lane Keeping Assistant with Active Side-Collision protection.
Extended Traffic Jam Assist supports the driver during one of the most
tedious driving situations, stop-and-go highway traffic. The system
can be used on limited access highways up to a speed of 50 km/h and
uses a driver-facing optical/infrared camera located in the digital
instrument cluster to monitor the driver’s eye and nose position to
determine if they are monitoring the road ahead. As long as the driver
is found to be attentive to the road ahead, the need for the driver to
place their hands on the wheel every 30-50 seconds is not required.

This interior camera is also used to support the standard driver
alertness monitoring system which suggests that one stop and take a
relaxing break if it deems that the driver is becoming tired and less alert.

The Automatic Lane Change feature can be used on highways when the
Lane Keeping Assistant is active. Holding the direction indicator in
the required direction is all it takes to initiate a lane change. If
the sensors detect that there is space in the adjacent lane and that
no other vehicle is approaching at high speed, the driver benefits
from helpful steering assistance during the lane change.

Another component of the system is the Evasion Aid, which can help
avoid collisions with vehicles or pedestrians that appear suddenly in
the vehicle’s path. As soon as an evasive maneuver corresponding to
such a scenario is detected, the system assists the driver with
steering inputs to direct the vehicle into a clear adjacent lane.

The array of assistance systems contained in this wide-ranging suite
of safety and comfort features is composed of the Active Cruise
Control (ACC) with Stop & Go and Cross Traffic Alert Front which
reduces the risk of a collision when maneuvering forwards towards
crossing traffic where visibility is restricted. Also, changing speed
limits identified by the Speed Limit Info system can be used by the
Automatic Cruise Control system to match the vehicle’s cruise control
speed to the road’s posted speed limit.

Emergency Stop Assistant: Active assistance when needed

A new development in the field of safety systems is the Emergency
Stop Assistant, which is a component of the optional Driving Assistant
Professional package. Intended to be used in situations where the
driver is suddenly incapacitated because of a medical emergency, it is
activated by pulling the electric parking brake switch. Depending on
the driving situation and the vehicle’s surroundings, the Emergency
Stop Assistant will bring the vehicle to a standstill either in the
current lane, at the edge of the road or on the hard shoulder. At the
same time, the hazard warning lights are activated and the Intelligent
Emergency Call function automatically notifies the BMW Assist call
center so the emergency services can be alerted.

Parking Assistant Professional: For comfortable maneuvering
into parking spaces

The new BMW X7 is equipped with standard rear-view camera and Park
Distance Control (PDC), which includes sensors at the front and rear
of the vehicle.

The Parking Assistant Professional package, standard in the X7
xDrive50i, and optional in the X7 xDrive40i, enables automatic
selection and use of parallel parking spaces. These parking spaces are
detected by ultrasonic sensors as the vehicle passes them. The Parking
Assistant function is activated at the touch of a button on the center
console. The system then takes care of the acceleration, braking,
steering and gear changes necessary to maneuver into the space.

Back-Up Assistant: Unique, high-precision guidance in tight spaces

Back-Up Assistant offers an unmatched level of assistance when
leaving a parking space or maneuvering in a confined area. The Back-Up
Assistant takes over steering to maneuver the vehicle mirroring the
path most recently used in the forward direction. This system makes
reversing for a distance of up to 50 metres an effortless task in the
all-new 2019 BMW X7. All the driver has to do is operate the
accelerator and brakes and monitor the surrounding area. The system is
initiated by pressing a button when the vehicle is stationary and the
gear selector is in the “P” position. The steering movements made
during the vehicle’s last forward maneuver are stored by the system
and retained. This means the Back-Up Assistant can be used to maneuver
the new BMW X7 backwards out of a parking position that it drove into
forwards the previous day.

The driver enjoys ideal all-round visibility, thanks to both the
standard rear-view camera and the optional Top View, Panorama View and
3D View which are part of Parking Assistant Plus, which create a
360-degree image of the vehicle and its surroundings in the Center
Display. In addition, drivers can use the Remote 3D View feature, part
of the BMW ConnectedDrive App, to access a three-dimensional live
image of their vehicle and surroundings on a smartphone no matter
where they are at that moment.

BMW Live Cockpit Professional: Seventh generation of BMW iDrive

The BMW Live Cockpit Professional, standard in the all-new 2019 BMW
X7, combines a new display and control concept and the ultimate in
connectivity to create a superb all-round package. The
latest-generation of the iDrive comprises a high-resolution digital
31.2 cm (12.3”) instrument cluster display behind the steering wheel
and a 31.2 cm (12.3”) center display diagonally across. The system
offers many hardware upgrades including new haptic controls on the
iDrive controller, an advanced tablet-like touch interface, stunning
visualizations, and the largest displays available in a BMW. This
latest system perfectly blends the strengths of previous iDrive
concepts with the modern ways in which people interface with their
popular electronic devices. The multi-modal approach of the iDrive
touch controller, large touchscreen center display, cloud based voice
control, and gesture control allow users to interact in the way of
their choosing.

To maximize the capabilities of the large 31.2 cn (12.3”) digital
instrument cluster, the traditional circular gauges have evolved into
an all-new design that pushes the digital speedometer and tachometer
gauges to the outer edges of the display as geometric bands. This new
design opens space in the middle for routing and navigation.
Information from the center display can also be shown within the
tachometer. The drive mode selected via the Driver Experience Control
also effects the appearance of the instrument cluster.

Drivers can enjoy the full benefits of the car’s intelligent
connectivity capabilities through vehicle apps such as news, weather,
office and online search. Other capabilities include Intelligent
Emergency Call – which automatically summons swift assistance in an
emergency – and regular updates for the navigation system’s maps.

A collection of bundled digital services will be offered for the new
BMW X7 within the Connected Package Professional, including Remote
Services, Concierge Services Advanced and Real Time Traffic
Information, for the first 4 years of ownership. The Conneccted
Package Professional allows easy integration and adaptation of new
technology over time. Customers can continue to download various new
digital services individually as they become available or renew
existing services via the ConnectedDrive Store.

BMW Connected: digital services for individual mobility

BMW Connected is the companion app for BMW drivers. Intelligent
connectivity helps users to reach their destination easily and with
minimal stress – and not only when in their car; BMW Connected is an
all-embracing concept designed to seamlessly connect the driver and
their smartphone with their vehicle.

At the heart of it all is the Open Mobility Cloud, which allows the
app to connect the car with the customer’s digital devices. These
could include the iPhone and Apple Watch, smartphones and smartwatches
running the Android operating system, Alexa-compatible smart devices
and Google Home. For instance, the BMW Connected app can import
appointments and addresses from the customer’s calendar entries
straight into the navigation system to begin route guidance. The
system calculates the optimum departure time based on real-time
traffic information and notifies the driver with a message on their
smartphone when it is time to leave. As the vehicle is linked up via
the Open Mobility Cloud, it is able to access the calculated route
directly when the navigation system starts up.

Audio and entertainment

The standard audio system in the BMW X7 xDrive40i features 10
speakers and 205 watts of power. A Harman Kardon Surround Sound Audio
is standard in the X7 xDrive50i, optional on the X7 xDrive40i.

integrate your favorite personal mobile devices into the BMW X7
experience. The Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound is
available as an option for both X7 models offers amplification of
1,500 watts, powering 20 speakers.

The optional Rear-seat Entertainment Professional system adds a pair
of 26 cm (10.2”) full-HD touchscreen displays, a Blu-ray-compatible
DVD player and an HDMI socket and two headphone jacks. The system
works using the BMW iDrive 7 display and control system, and so allows
those in the rear of the vehicle to select and operate entertainment
functions. The rear-seat passengers can use both their own media
sources and those available in the front compartment. A navigation map
and BMW ConnectedDrive services can also be accessed in the rear seats.

Adaptive LED headlights with BMW Laserlight.

Both X7 models come with Adaptive Full LED lights with Automatic High
Beams as standard equipment. BMW Laserlights are available on both models.

BMW Head-Up Display: Larger projection area and optimized graphics

The BMW Head-Up Display, optional for the xDrive40i and standard on
the xDrive50i, helps the driver to enjoy focused and extremely safe
driving in the new BMW X7. It projects driving-related information
directly into the driver’s field of vision on the windshield, where it
can be assimilated without the need to divert their eyes from the
road. The latest generation of the system boasts a larger projection
area then that of past systems plus enhanced graphics and additional
display readings. The information projected by the BMW Head-Up Display
includes the car’s speed, speed limits and overtaking restrictions,
Check Control messages, status indicators and warnings from the
assistance systems, detailed route guidance and turn instructions, and
telephone and entertainment lists.

Another feature activated in conjunction with the BMW Head-Up Display
is distance warning, which is part of the Active Cruise Control
system’s set of functions and flashes a graphic icon to alert the
driver when they get closer to the vehicle in front than the pre-set
minimum distance.

Displays and iDrive: Premier for the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant

The All-New BMW X7 will debut with the BMW Intelligent Personal
Assistant, an intelligent, digital character that responds to the
prompt “Hey BMW”. The BMW Group is set to revolutionize driving
pleasure with the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant and, in so doing,
enter a new era in which drivers will increasingly be able to operate
their car and access its functions and information simply by speaking.
The range of functions and skills available will be constantly
expanded as part of regular updates.

BMWs acquire a digital personality

The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant learns routines and habits,
and is subsequently able to apply them in the appropriate context. He
helps the driver, learns their preferences and is familiar with their
favored settings – e.g. for the seat heating or the places they drive
to frequently using the navigation system (“Take me home”). It is
familiar with the vehicle’s functions and is able to operate them as
required. Saying “Hey BMW, I’m cold” will prompt the BMW Intelligent
Personal Assistant to adjust the temperature inside the car
accordingly. The assistant will benefit from technical upgrades and be
able to learn more and more preferences and favored settings. The
assistant takes further strides forward with every command given,
every question asked and every setting selected.

A constant on-board companion: the digital BMW expert

The arrival of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant ensures there
is always a genuine BMW professional on board. He is able to explain
all sorts of different functions (“How does the High Beam Assistant
work?”), provide current status information (“Is the oil level okay?”)
and help answer questions (“What warning messages do I have?”). He
knows the driver’s favorite settings, and can even activate a
combination of them to enhance well-being. For instance, “Hey BMW, I
feel tired” triggers a vitality program that adjusts the lighting
mood, music and temperature, among other things, in order to make the
driver feel more awake.

The perfect driver assistant

The Intelligent Personal Assistant is, in short, the ideal co-driver
and comes in particularly useful during everyday driving (“Hey BMW,
what is the closest gas station on my route”). To make navigation
particularly easy, drivers can give him access to their calendar and
contacts, which will enable him to find parking spaces at the
destination, provide information on traffic jams along the route and
remind the driver when they need to set off. It also learns
destinations the customer drives to frequently.

Munich. The Sports Activity Vehicle is heading for
the luxury segment. And on its way there it is undergoing a true
endurance test marathon. An equally extensive and diverse test
programme takes the camouflaged prototypes of the new BMW X7 across
challenging terrain all over the world. Earlier winter test drives on
snow and ice at the edge of the polar circle were followed by
long-distance endurance tests on desert and gravel tracks under the
South African sun. Hectic stop-and-go-traffic in the urban jungle
alternates with dynamic load tests on winding country roads and
highways. Under extreme challenges and a wide spectrum of weather and
road surface conditions the first luxury-segment BMW X model has
provided the ultimate proof of its supreme driving characteristics
within the framework of driving dynamics testing.

With its impressive appearance, exceptionally generous interior
space, sophisticated drive and suspension technology and exclusive
equipment features, the BMW X7 is the latest interpretation of
luxurious driving pleasure in the style of the Munich-based premium
brand. The combination of supreme off-road performance and superior
driving dynamics on the road so typical of a Sports Activity Vehicle
is entering a further vehicle segment. With the upcoming presentation
of the latest and also largest BMW X model at the end of 2018, BMW is
continuing its current product offensive in the luxury class with a
yet further fascinating vehicle concept.

The prototypes of the new BMW X7 were produced at the BMW Spartanburg
plant. The competence centre for BMW X models in the US Federal State
of South Carolina will also become the place of origin for the
production model. Despite conspicuous camouflaging, the preproduction
vehicles reveal the imposing dimensions as well as the both clear and
harmonious proportions of the BMW X7.

In the new BMW X7, luxury, diversity and sportiness combine to form a
unique entity. The current tests impressively demonstrate the driving
experience that can be enjoyed in the sophisticated ambience of the
vehicle’s interior even under adverse climatic conditions and on the
most varying terrain. At the Winter Test Centre in Arjeplog, Sweden,
during hot-climate tests, but also in everyday traffic situations
around the home town of Spartanburg, the prototypes of the new BMW X7
have already had ample opportunity to convince with contemporary
luxury and supreme diversity.

Press Contact: Marc Belcourt
Tel: +1-905-428-5078
E-mail: marc.belcourt@bmwgroup.ca

Press Release,G07,X7,Product,BMW

Munich / Spartanburg. Production of the first
pre-production models of the new BMW X7 Sports Activity Vehicle has
commenced at the BMW Group Spartanburg plant, USA. So the countdown
has started for the final twelve months leading up to the presentation
of the production car at the end of 2018. Prior to this, the vehicle
will undergo various tests under partially extreme conditions.

Knudt Flor, head of the BMW Group Spartanburg plant: “We are proud to
produce the BMW X7 here in Spartanburg, the home of our X models. This
is a very special vehicle and our employees are looking forward to yet
a further member of the X family. Together with the BMW X7, a total of
five BMW X models will be exported from Spartanburg to all four
corners of the globe.”

Camouflage wrap conceals final look.
At the plant, the
production of pre-series models serves to secure and optimise future
series production. Consequently, BMW X7 pre-production models already
use the same assembly line as the BMW X5 and BMW X6 production models.
An especially trained team realises the series production process for
new vehicle models at the plant and qualifies employees for future
series production.

The pre-production models built at the BMW Group Spartanburg plant
are handed over to development department specialists, who require
them for homologation, registration as well as for diverse testing
purposes such as endurance tests and test drives under extreme
conditions in the desert regions of Death Valley or on the ice and
snow covered slopes of Scandinavia.

The pre-production model is fitted with its camouflage wrap while
still at the plant. The conspicuous striped patterns are designed to
help conceal the new SAV’s final look as far as possible.

Fifth series from the BMW Group Spartanburg plant.
In Spartanburg, the BMW Group produces BMW X models for
the USA and the global market.
With record production figures of
more than 411,000 units in 2016, Spartanburg is currently the BMW
Group’s largest plant worldwide. Around 70 percent of the vehicles
produced in Spartanburg are exported to 140 countries throughout the
world. According to the US Ministry of Trade, the BMW Group is
therefore the largest vehicle exporter in the USA measured in export
value. Maximum annual production capacity stands at around 450,000 vehicles.

The BMW Group Spartanburg plant employs more than 9,000 people; a
further 1,000 jobs are to be added by the year 2021. Each day, 1,400
BMW X3, X4, X5 and X6 models come off the assembly line at the
Spartanburg plant; these will be complemented by a fifth series, the
BMW X7, for which the Spartanburg plant is currently preparing.

To date, the BMW Group has invested eight billion US dollars in the
production location and has built around 3.9 million vehicles since
being taken into operation on 8 September 1994.

*Due to the pre-series vehicle status, technical details like fuel
consumption, CO2 emissions, etc. will be communicated later next year.
