Munich. BMW M GmbH once again achieved outstanding
sales growth in 2025. For no less than the 14th time in a row, the
manufacturer of high-performance and performance vehicles reported
record sales. And for the 7th time running, BMW M GmbH vehicles
outsold their competitors by a considerable margin. A sales total of
213,457 vehicles surpassed the previous year’s excellent result
(206,582 vehicles) by three per cent. Both the high-performance and
performance models set new benchmarks. Keys to success in all markets
are a state-of-the-art model range spanning many vehicle classes and
an extensive portfolio of powertrain options. In 2025, nearly every
tenth BMW sold was a BMW M model. This share of 9.8 per cent
represents another milestone.

“Our 14th consecutive sales record validates our strategy. We will
continue to offer performance and high-performance vehicles across the
entire BMW model range. With fully electric, partly electric and
all-ICE powertrains,” says Franciscus van Meel, CEO of BMW M GmbH.

High-performance executive models drive
growth.
The high-performance models from BMW M GmbH
combine racetrack capabilities with unrestricted everyday usability.
BMW M5 models became key growth drivers in 2025. The BMW M5 Sedan
(energy consumption, weighted, combined: 17.6–17.2 kWh/100 km and
5.0–4.8 l/100 km (WLTP); CO2 emissions, weighted, combined:
114–108 g/km (WLTP); CO2 classes: with discharged battery
G, weighted, combined C; fuel consumption with discharged battery:
10.7–10.5 l/100 km (WLTP))*,1 and the BMW M5 Touring
(energy consumption, weighted, combined: 18.1–17.6 kWh/100 km and
5.3–5.0 l/100 km (WLTP); CO2 emissions, weighted, combined:
119–114 g/km (WLTP); CO2 classes: with discharged battery
G, weighted, combined D–C; fuel consumption with discharged battery:
10.9–10.7 l/100 km (WLTP))*,1 saw enormous sales increases
in their first full year on the markets, making them key contributors
to the success of BMW M GmbH. Both vehicles offer a model-specific
version of the M HYBRID system with a peak output of 535 kW/727 hp and
a maximum system torque of 1,000 Nm. A high-revving V8 engine with M
TwinPower Turbo technology and an electric motor combine with an
eight-speed M Steptronic transmission to provide power to the M xDrive
all-wheel drive system. The great appeal of the BMW M5 Touring was
underscored by a “Golden Steering Wheel” award. This accolade is
awarded by “Auto Bild” and “Bild am Sonntag”, both published by the
German Axel Springer SE publishing house. The high-performance model
achieved the highest points score of all finalists in the competition.
Moreover, the distinguished jury rated the BMW M5 Touring ahead of the
other class finalists in all driving disciplines, as well as in terms
of efficiency and value for money.

The BMW M2 Coupé (fuel consumption, combined: 10.2–9.7 l/100 km;
CO2 emissions, combined: 230–221 g/km (WLTP),
CO2 class: G)* was the best-selling high-performance
vehicle of 2025. This model is also available with a manual
transmission (fuel consumption, combined: 10.2–9.7 l/100 km;
CO2 emissions, combined: 230–221 g/km (WLTP),
CO2 class: G)* and as an even more track-focused BMW M2 CS
special model (fuel consumption, combined: 10.0 l/100 km;
CO2 emissions, combined: 226 g/km (WLTP), CO2
class: G)*. This delivers 390 kW/530 hp of power and recently set a
new record time of 7:25.5 minutes on the Nürburgring.

Favourite among performance enthusiasts: the BMW M3
family.
The BMW M3 models are another family of
high-performance best-sellers. The series impresses with perfectly
tailored model variants and includes sedans with various output
levels. The BMW M3 entry-level model is a particularly purist vehicle
that comes with a six-speed manual transmission and 353 kW/480 hp of
power (fuel consumption, combined: 10.1 l/100 km; CO2
emissions, combined: 230–229 g/km (WLTP), CO2 class: G)*.
Then there are the extremely popular Touring variants. 2025 also saw
the launch of the BMW M3 CS Touring (fuel consumption, combined: 10.5
l/100 km; CO2 emissions, combined: 238 g/km (WLTP),
CO2 class: G)*, the most sporting exemplar with 405 kW/551
hp. The large number of BMW M3 family sales is a clear sign of the
model series’ continued allure and represents a major contribution to
the new record of almost 71,500 high-performance vehicles sold.

M Performance model is BMW M GmbH best-seller.
A
particularly popular model and also the best-selling BMW M GmbH
vehicle of 2025 was the BMW X3 M50 (fuel consumption, combined: 8.3
l/100 km; CO<sub>2</sub> emissions, combined: 189 g/km (WLTP);
CO2 class: G)*. The top athlete in the premium mid-size SAV
segment offers unique performance capabilities and a charismatic
appearance. The M TwinPower Turbo engine, combined with 48-volt mild
hybrid technology, delivers a maximum system output of 293 kW/398 hp.
The power of the BMW X3 M50 is complemented by specific chassis
technology and signature M design elements. With these attributes, it
overtook the BMW i4 and its M60 Gran Coupé xDrive variant (energy
consumption, combined (WLTP): 20.9 kWh/100 km; CO2
emissions, combined (WLTP): 0 g/km, CO2 class: A)*, which
delivers an output of 442 kW/601 hp and a range of up to 551 km. The
electric BMW i4 range-topper was the best-selling BMW M GmbH model
from 2022 to 2024.

In 2025, nearly every tenth BMW sold was a BMW M model, and the sales
share of 9.8 per cent (9.4 per cent in the year prior) represents
another new record. BMW M vehicles are especially popular in
Switzerland, where nearly every fourth BMW ordered is a BMW M model.

Exceptional sales total, top spots in the individual
markets.
In the key markets, BMW M GmbH vehicles led the
field, beating their competitors by a considerable margin. The models
were particularly coveted in the U.S., the largest single market at
over 72,000 units sold. But BMW M models also achieved top positions
in markets such as Canada, Germany, Korea, South Africa and the United
Kingdom. In China, BMW M GmbH achieved its largest absolute sales increase.

Focused model strategy to secure and expand top
position.
The state-of-the-art model portfolio with its
comprehensive range of ICE, plug-in hybrid and all-electric vehicles
is at the heart of BMW M GmbH success. The development of models based
on the Neue Klasse will provide further momentum. “Our strategy of
being open towards new technologies once again paid off in 2025. BMW M
GmbH stands for optimal performance, independently of the powertrain
type. In all markets and across all vehicle classes. Customers looking
for a performance or high-performance vehicle will always find it at
BMW M GmbH”, says Sylvia Neubauer, Vice President Customer, Brand,
Sales at BMW M GmbH.

Motorsport remains a key pillar at BMW M
GmbH.
The BMW M Motorsport race cars – the BMW M Hybrid
V8, the BMW M4 GT3 EVO and the BMW M4 GT4 EVO – achieved a total of
more than 180 victories in 2025. In works motorsport, the BMW M Hybrid
V8 delivered a competitive performance in the first half of the FIA
WEC season and the BMW M GmbH marks 14th consecutive record year. The
best result of a season marked by highs and lows was the 1-2 finish at
Road America. The BMW M4 GT3 EVO had a tremendous season. While the
1-2 victory at the Bathurst 12 Hour race in Australia was still won by
the predecessor model, the EVO version seamlessly continued the series
with top results. Triumphs at the Nürburgring 24 Hours (Germany), the
Suzuka 1000 (Japan), the Indianapolis 8 Hour race and in the GTD Pro
Class at the 6 Hours of the Glen and the Petit Le Mans (both U.S.) are
among the highlights of a season that saw over 80 victories and 100
further podium finishes.

Teams driving the BMW M4 GT4 EVO achieved over 100 victories in the
2025 season. More than any other model, the BMW M4 GT4 is associated
with customer racing. The victory in the SP10 at the Nürburgring 24
Hours was a particular high point. In the Nürburgring
Langstrecken-Serie (NLS) racing series, these vehicles came out on top
in nine out of ten races. Moreover, the BMW M4 GT4 EVO triumphed in
all classes at the GT4 America. The strong results of the GT4 teams
helped BMW M Motorsport secure the SRO manufacturers’ title in the GT4
segment. The 2026 season will see the debut of the BMW M2 Racing as a
new entry-level vehicle complementing the model portfolio for customer racing.

Bangkok. With a spectacular and innovative fan event,
MotoGP™ set the stage for the countdown to the 2025 season. For the
first time ever, all teams and riders gathered in the Thai capital to
launch the season alongside the fans. At the heart of it all: the new
BMW M5 Touring MotoGP™ Safety Car, which will join the BMW M5 MotoGP™
Safety Car in 2025 to lead the safety fleet in the most exciting sport
on earth.

The MotoGP™ Season Launch in the newly developed district One Bangkok
provided the perfect stage for the official unveiling of the new
Safety Car. The event began with a parade of all MotoGP™ riders, led
by the BMW M5 Touring MotoGP™ Safety Car. Another highlight of the
event was a spectacular stage show, streamed live to fans worldwide
and free to attend for everyone on site.

“The MotoGP™ Season Launch in Bangkok was a fantastic event, and we
are delighted to have been able to present our new BMW M5 Touring
MotoGP™ Safety Car on such a great stage,” said Axel Mittler,
Marketing Manager at BMW M Gmbh. “With this new Safety Car, we
continue our commitment to bringing the latest technologies to MotoGP™
safety. Like the BMW M5 MotoGP™ Safety Car, the Touring variant is
equipped with an M HYBRID powertrain, where a high-revving V8 engine
is supported by an electric motor delivering instant power. Whether in
sedan or touring form, our BMW M5 MotoGP™ Safety Cars impress with
their dynamics and agility, making them perfectly suited for racetrack duty.”

Marc Saurina, Head of Global Commercial Partnerships at MotoGP™
rights owner Dorna Sports, added: “We are happy that our long-standing
partner BMW M has provided an additional highlight for our first
MotoGP™ Season Launch in Bangkok by unveiling the new Safety Car. We
are now entering our 27th season of collaboration with BMW M as the
‘Official Car of MotoGP™’. We know that BMW M GmbH is a strong
partner, providing a safety car fleet that stands out with pioneering
technologies. The BMW M5 Touring MotoGP™ Safety Car seamlessly
continues this tradition. Not only does it look stunning, but it is
also equipped with everything a safety car needs to ensure the safety
of the world’s best motorcycle racers.”

BMW M has been the Official Car of MotoGP™ since 1999, supplying the
series with a fleet of Safety Cars, Medical Cars, and Safety Bikes as
part of this partnership. The new Safety Car is based on the BMW M5
Touring (combined fuel consumption: 2.0 l/100 km and 30.7 kWh/100 km;
combined CO₂ emissions: 46 g/km; fuel consumption with depleted
battery: 10.9 l/100 km according to WLTP; CO₂ classification: combined
B, with depleted battery G)*, which was launched in November 2024. It
is the third current BMW M model to feature an M HYBRID powertrain.
Together, its two motors generate a peak output of 535 kW (727 hp) and
a maximum torque of 1,000 Nm. To prepare it for racetrack use, the BMW
M5 Touring MotoGP™ Safety Car has been modified accordingly.

The livery, like that of the BMW M5 MotoGP™ Safety Car, is inspired
by the design of the BMW M Hybrid V8 race cars competing in the FIA
World Endurance Championship and the IMSA series in North America.
This connection perfectly embodies BMW M’s commitment to hybrid
technology and its core philosophy: Born on the race track, made for
the street.

The new BMW M5 Touring MotoGP™ Safety Car will remain on display in
Bangkok until the start of the 2025 MotoGP™ season before making its
on-track debut at the first race weekend from 28th February to 2nd
March in Buriram, Thailand.

Markus Flasch is soon to head the product lines Rolls-Royce, BMW luxury and upper class as well as the BMW midrange class.</pp:summary>

Munich. With effect from 1 November, Franciscus van
Meel will assume the position as chairman of the board of BMW M GmbH.
He succeeds Markus Flasch, who, after three years at the helm of the
BMW Group subsidiary responsible for particularly sporty automobiles,
will be changing to the Overall Vehicle Development division. Flasch
will assume the position within the BMW Group as head of the
production lines Rolls-Royce, BMW luxury and upper class, in future
also including the BMW midrange production line. During his term of
office in the executive board of BMW M GmbH, the company rose to
become the world’s leading provider of performance and high-performance-automobiles.

For Franciscus van Meel it is a return to the chief executive
position at the top of BMW M GmbH. Between 2015 and 2018, he had
already led the company, which bears the status of an independent
automobile manufacturer. In the meantime, van Meel has also been,
inter alia, responsible for the Rolls-Royce product line as well as
for the BMW luxury and upper class. Under his leadership, the BMW
Group’s new technology flagship, the BMW iX, was brought to
series-production readiness. Van Meel also headed development of the
forthcoming purely electrically powered model variants. With this
experience in hand, he brings along the ideal prerequisites to also
shape the next stages already commenced on the way to electrification
at the BMW M GmbH. The first highlight of van Meel’s second term of
office has already been fixed: 2022 will witness the celebrations
marking the 50th anniversary of the company - originally founded as
BMW Motorsport GmbH - during which many new high-performance
automobiles will be presented. These will also include the first BMW
M3 Touring, which is already in an advanced stage of its series
development process.

During the past three years, BMW M GmbH has been influenced by an
unparalleled model offensive. The list of innovations with which BMW M
GmbH was able to achieve new record sales figures and assume market
leadership ahead of competitors included the extended range of
performance automobiles and new versions of the model series BMW M3
and BMW M4, which represent the core of the BMW M brand, as well as
the absolute top-of-the-range models in their segment, the BMW M2 CS
(fuel consumption combined: 10.1 – 9.2 l/100 km according to WLTP; CO2
emissions combined: 229 – 210 g/km according to WLTP) and the BMW M5
CS (fuel consumption combined: 11.3 l/100 km according to WLTP, CO2
emissions combined: 256 g/km according to WLTP). The latest new model,
the purely electrically powered BMW M automobile, the BMW i4 M50
(power consumption combined: 22.5 – 18.0 kWh/100 km according to WLTP,
CO2 emissions combined: 0 g/km), has now been brought to market.

At the same time, the BMW M company’s commitment as a car
manufacturer and in motorsport was recently again more closely
interlinked. This was accompanied by the realignment of motorsport
activities, new and particularly attractive customer sport offerings
and the decision on BMW’s comeback in international prototype racing,
which has been planned for 2023.

Press Contact: Marc Belcourt
Tel: +1-905-428-5078
E-mail: marc.belcourt@bmwgroup.ca

Press Release,M2,BMW i,F90,G26,M5,F87,i4,Product,BMW,BMW M

The BMW M Award competition is an integral part of MotoGP™.
In 2021, the prize will be presented to the fastest qualifier over the
course of the season for the 19th time. The winner of the
2021 BMW M Award can once again look forward to a real highlight, a
new BMW M5 CS (fuel consumption, combined: 11.3 – 11.1 l/100 km
[25.0 – 25.5 mpg imp] correspond to NEDC; 11,3 – 10,9 l/100 km
correspond to WLTP, CO2 emissions, combined: 258 – 253 g/km
correspond to NEDC, 257 – 248 g/km correspond to WLTP)* in Frozen Deep
Green metallic. BMW M GmbH traditionally unveils the winner’s car at
the opening European round of the MotoGP™ season, which this year
takes place in Portimão, Portugal, for the first time. Fans around the
world can take a digital look at the BMW M5 CS on the social media
channels of BMW M GmbH and MotoGP™.

BMW M GmbH is expanding its ranks of ultra-sporty CS models with the
introduction of the BMW M5 CS. The limited-run special-edition model
blends standout performance attributes with an exclusive and luxurious
appearance and the 4.4-litre V8 engine with 467 kW/635 hp makes the
BMW M5 CS the most powerful car in the history of BMW M.

“The BMW M5 CS has been in action as one of our new MotoGP safety
cars since the season-opener in Qatar. As such, it was an obvious
decision for us to offer its production counterpart as the prize for
the 2021 BMW M Award,” said Markus Flasch, CEO of BMW M GmbH. “For
almost two decades, the BMW M Award has been a pillar of our
involvement as ‘Official Car of MotoGP’. It has always been important
to us to honour the qualifying performances of the MotoGP riders with
a spectacular prize. In 2021, we are presenting the BMW M5 CS – the
new top model in our range of high-performance automobiles. We now
have our fingers crossed for all the MotoGP riders – we are intrigued
to see who will get their hands on the BMW M5 CS at the season finale,
as the winner of the BMW M Award.”

“Every year, BMW M GmbH unveils a real highlight as the prize for the
BMW M Award at the first European race of the season, and this is the
case once again in 2021,” said Pau Serracanta, Managing Director of
the Commercial Department of MotoGP™ commercial rights holder Dorna
Sports. “The BMW M5 CS has already impressed us as a safety car, and
the production version of this high-performance automobile really is a
spectacular prize for our most successful qualifier. It once again
underlines how important involvement in MotoGP is for our partner BMW
M GmbH. We are excited to see which of our riders will win the coveted
BMW M Award at the end of the season.”

Thanks to the M Power under the bonnet, the BMW M5 CS sprints from 0
– 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.0 seconds, and from 0 – 200 km/h (124
mph) in 10.3 seconds. Top speed is an electronically governed 305 km/h
(189 mph). The high-performance engine teams up with an eight-speed
M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic and uses the M xDrive
all-wheel-drive system, which also offers a 2WD mode for pure
rear-wheel drive, to channel its power to the road. With the BMW M5
CS, BMW M GmbH has focussed on consistently lightweight design. The
chassis has also been adapted to the weight of the car, which is
lighter than other M5 models, with retuned bearing springs at the
front and rear axle, and further refined damper control. The stainless
steel M5 CS sports exhaust has four unadorned tailpipes. Other
features include the M Carbon ceramic brakes.

The luxurious, sporty appearance of the BMW M5 CS continues with more
highlights both inside and outside the car. The bonnet, front
splitter, exterior mirror caps, rear spoiler, rear diffuser, M Power
engine compartment cover and intake silencer are made from carbon
fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP). Some elements feature exposed carbon
fibre. The exceptional driving experience on board the BMW M5 CS can
be enjoyed by four people – the driver and front passenger in M Carbon
seats and two other passengers in the individual rear seats. The
integral head restraints – with illuminated M5 logos for the front
seats – display an outline of the legendary Nürburgring circuit. The
centre marker perforation with red background on the M Alcantara
steering wheel is a classical racing car touch; the gearshift paddles
are made from carbon fibre. The Frozen Deep Green metallic paint job
of the BMW M Award winner’s car matches the basic colour of the BMW M5
CS MotoGP safety car.

The BMW M Award is one of the many BMW M activities as the ‘Official
Car of MotoGP’. Since 2003, the MotoGP™ rider with the best results in
qualifying has been rewarded with an exclusive, individually designed
BMW M car at the end of the season. As with the scoring system for the
race, the riders receive points for their positions in qualifying at
each Grand Prix weekend. The rider who has picked up the most points
at the end of the season wins the coveted BMW M Award. The record
holder is Marc Márquez, who already claimed the BMW M Award seven
times in a row from 2013 to 2019. Last season, in 2020, Frenchman
Fabio Quartararo joined the winners list for the first time.

Munich
. Shortly before the first motorsport highlight of the year,
this weekend’s 24 Hours of Daytona (USA), BMW M GmbH presented the
BMW M5 CS (combined fuel consumption: 11.3 – 11.1 l/100 km according
to NEDC; 11.3 – 10.9 l/100 km according to WLTP; combined
CO2 emissions: 258 – 253 g/km according to NEDC, 257 –
248 g/km according to WLTP*). With 635 hp, it is the most powerful
car in the history of BMW M. This weekend, the BMW M5 CS will lead
the field as the safety car for the ‘BMW Endurance Challenge at
Daytona’, which also features the BMW M4 GT4. BMW Team RLL driver
Connor De Phillippi (USA) tested the BMW M5 CS ahead of its maiden
outing.

De Phillippi is well-acquainted with M Power. In 2019, the BMW works
driver won the Daytona 24-hour race at the wheel of the BMW M8 GTE.
This weekend, he and BMW Team RLL will set their sights on the third
win in a row for the BMW M8 GTE in the GTLM class. However, before he
gets down to business in the race car, De Phillippi enjoyed a very
special treat. He was given the opportunity to test one of the first
BMW M5 CSs built for the USA and to get an impression of how it feels
to drive the most powerful M car ever, with a whopping 635 hp.

“You have really surpassed yourselves with this car – thank you to
everyone at BMW M who was involved,” said De Phillippi. “My first
outing was extremely impressive. Given its size, it is incredible that
the BMW M5 CS is so agile in tight corners and generally feels so
extremely manoeuvrable.”

This agility comes thanks to the lightweight concept that was
implemented consistently when designing the BMW M5 CS. This has made
it possible to save roughly 70 kilograms compared to the BMW M5
Competition (combined fuel consumption: 11.3 – 11.1 l/100 km according
to NEDC, 11.3 – 10.9 l/100 km according to WLTP; combined
CO2 emissions: 259 – 254 g/km according to NEDC, 259 – 249
g/km according to WLTP*). The exclusive special edition BMW M5
accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.0 seconds and hits 200 km/h
after 10.3 seconds. The top speed is 305 km/h (electronically
limited). “In my opinion, every detail of this car is built to the
highest motorsport standards,” said De Phillippi.

The car cuts a very fine figure on the racetrack. At Daytona, it will
take to the track in its role as safety car for the race in the
Michelin Pilot Challenge, the ‘BMW Endurance Challenge at Daytona’.
Markus Flasch, CEO of BMW M GmbH, will also give the famous command
“Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines” as virtual Grand Marshal
for the race. Among the cars doing battle for victories and podiums in
the Michelin Pilot Challenge is the BMW M4 GT4.

The approach taken when developing the BMW M5 CS was for the car not
only to be perfectly-suited to the racetrack, but also everyday use.
De Phillippi’s verdict is that it’s mission accomplished. “This car is
the ultimate combination of everyday usability and sports car. The
space and comfort allow you to take whatever you want with you. For
example, I love the BMW M5 because there is enough space for my bike
and luggage, without having to sacrifice sportiness. In the blink of
an eye, the car is ready for the racetrack at any time.”

The unique driving experience in the BMW M5 CS can be enjoyed in M
carbon seats by four people – two in the front and two in individual
seats in the rear of the car. The M Alcantara steering wheel’s 12
o’clock centre-marker perforation with red background is a classic
race car influence, while the shift paddles are made of carbon. “The
steering wheel feels very good, and the shift paddles and carbon seats
make the driving experience at the racetrack a real delight,” said De Phillippi.

Back in the race car cockpit, De Phillippi will fight for victory
together with his fellow BMW drivers in the BMW M8 GTE at the 24 Hours
of Daytona this weekend. The race gets underway on Saturday at 15:40
local time (21:40 CET).

Richmond Hill, ON. BMW Group Canada is pleased to
introduce the 2021 BMW M5 Competition Sedan.

Like the other models in the recently introduced 2021 BMW 5 Series
line-up, the new BMW M5 Competition sports an updated, new-look BMW
kidney grille. The LED headlights and LED rear lights also have a
sharper appearance, while the front apron – with its large air intakes
– and the rear apron have been sculpted to even more dramatic effect.
Inside the cabin, the larger central touchscreen display immediately
catches the eye.

In addition to these features, the BMW M5 Competition comes with
black styling details underlining its elite status. The BMW kidney
grille surround, the mesh on the M gills, the exterior mirror caps and
the additional rear spoiler on the boot lid all have a High-gloss
Black finish, and the rear apron includes Black inserts. Black
M5 Competition badges adorn the kidney grille, the gills and the boot
lid, while the door sill plates are illuminated. The tailpipes of the
standard M Sport exhaust system are finished in Black Chrome.

The large centre air intake is hexagonal in shape and incorporates
the oil cooler along with the radar sensor for the Active Cruise
Control (ACC) system. The new L‑shaped light tubes searing in narrow
streaks towards the kidney grille add a dynamic flourish to the newly
designed LED headlights,

Dynamic new exterior colours.

BMW M5 Competition customers can choose from a total of five new
paint finishes. Brands Hatch Grey and Motegi Red metallic can now be
specified, while the BMW Individual selecction of paint finishes adds
Tanzanite Blue II, Adventurine Red II metallic and the matt finish
Frozen Bluestone metallic. Finally, the Champagne Quartz metallic
finish has been renamed Alvit Grey metallic.

Larger Central Display and new operating concept

The introduction of a new operating concept and a larger central
display with a diagonal of 12.3 inches mean the cabin of the new
BMW M5 Competition is more driver-centric than ever. Two new buttons
on the centre console – like those found in the BMW M8 – provide more
direct access to system settings and the various readouts in the
instrument cluster and Head‑Up Display. At the press of the M Mode
button, the driver can toggle swiftly between the ROAD and SPORT
settings, while keeping the M Mode button pressed, and confirming the
prompt in the central display, engages TRACK mode.

High-revving 4.4-litre V8 wth BMW TwinPower Technology

The heartbeat of the BMW M5 Competition continues to be the
latest-generation a 4.4-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 engine with an
output of 617 hp at 6,000 rpm and peak torque of 553 lb-ft on tap
between 1,800 and 5,860 rpm. The BMW M5 Competiton sprints from 0 –
100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and 0 – 100 km in 10.8 seconds, with a top
speed of 250 km/h – or 305 km/h with the optional M Driver’s Package specified.

Oil supply system designed for track
driving.
The V8 engine utilises optimised turbochargers
and maximum injection pressure of 350 bar. This allows shorter
injection times and improved atomisation of fuel, for faster engine
response as well as more efficient mixture preparation. Improvements
have also been made to lubrication and cooling, including an oil pan
with a small front sump and an indirect charge air cooling system,
which is extremely effective despite taking up little space. The oil
supply system uses a fully variable, map-controlled pump and has been
designed for outings on the race track, where it can handle very high
levels of longitudinal and lateral acceleration.

Flap-controlled exhaust systems deliver a high-impact soundtrack.

The flap-controlled dual-branch M Sport exhaust system of the BMW M5
Competition develops and extremely distinctive and sporting exhaust
note. The M Sound Control button enables its soundtrack to be varied
via the different engine modes, with the option of selecting a more
understated engine note to soften the vehicle’s acoustic presence.

Eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with
Drivelogic.
The Drivelogic rocker switch on the gear
selector allows three modes for efficient, sporty or dynamically
intense track driving with extremely rapid gearshifts. The driver can
use both the selector lever and the shift paddles on the steering
wheel to take control of gear changes manually. In manual mode, they
can also execute sporty multiple downshifts to the lowest available
gear, for instance when braking into tight corners. And there are no
automatic upshifts when the engine is revved to the limit. A
transmission oil cooler ensures the transmission works flawlessly and
with moderate operating temperatures, even when the car is put through
its paces on the track.

Undiluted M feeling in TRACK mode.

The BMW M5 Competition model’s TRACK mode is designed exclusively for
use on race circuits and deactivates all the comfort and safety
functions of the driver assistance systems. To focus the driver’s
attention even more intently on the road ahead, the audio system is
also muted and the central display switched off. The result is a
racing-car-inspired, ultra-pure distillation of M feeling. The
instrument cluster switches to M View while the Head‑Up Display
dispenses with readouts from the driver assistance systems. Automatic
activation of the hazard warning lights in response to emergency
braking is suppressed and the collision warning system is also
deactivated. Pressing the M Mode button again exits TRACK mode and
returns to the ROAD setting.

M xDrive with rear-wheel bias ensures exceptional agility.

The M5 Competition engine’s torque is distributed between the front
and rear wheels seamlessly and fully variably by means of the transfer
case’s electronically controlled multi-plate clutch, before the Active
M Differential splits it again between the two rear wheels, as
required. The rear-wheel-biased setup of M xDrive imbues the BMW M5
Competiton with standout agility. The driver can vary the distribution
of power between front and rear wheels and also adjust the responses
of the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system. M Dynamic Mode (MDM)
holds the key to controlled drifts and particularly playful handling,
and offers another three modes (with DSC deactivated) which have been
optimised for track driving: as well as 4WD and 4WD Sport, drivers
also have the choice of 2WD mode for pure rear-wheel drive.

Configurable dampers and steering.

The BMW M5 Competition has a specially tuned and even stiffer
chassis, and now also benefits from experience gained in the
development of the new BMW M8 Gran Coupé, whose shock absorbers have
been carried over. The electronically controlled Variable Damper
Control (VDC) offers three driving modes – COMFORT, SPORT and SPORT+.

COMFORT mode focuses on a broad-based everyday usability combined
with typical M dynamics. SPORT mode, meanwhile, reduces wheel and body
movements to create more direct contact with the road, while retaining
a substantial comfort profile, while SPORT+ mode maximizes dynamic
performance on smooth asphalt, with wheel and body movements minimised.

Similarly, the M Servotronic steering gives drivers the choice of
COMFORT mode for greater ease of use and lightness for in-town driving
while SPORT mode provides enhanced steering feeback tailored to more
sporting driving;

Performance-oriented suspension enhancements and 20-inch wheels.

In addition to ride height reduction of seven mllimetres on the BMW
M5 Competition, suspension enhancements include increased camber at
the front axle to handle higher lateral forces in corners. Fitting the
toe links with ball joints instead of rubber mounts results in even
more precise wheel contorl at the rear axle. And the rear anti-roll
bar also has a firmer spring rate, giving body roll in high-speed
corners a more pronounced rear bias. The modified mounting for the
front-axle anti-roll bar combines with ten per cent stiffer springs at
the front and rear axles to produce a firmer ride, making for more
precise steering response. Additionally, shorter auxiliary springs
reduce fluctuation in wheel loads.

The BMW M5 Competition is fitted as standard with forged, bi-colour,
20-inch M light-alloy wheels in Y-spoke design (front: 9.5 J x 20,
rear: 10.5 J x 20) and mixed-size tires (front: 275/35 R 20, rear:
285/35 R 20).

M Compound brakes fitted as standard.

The BMW M5 Competition is equipped as standard with M Compound brakes
with perforated, inner-vented brake discs and six-piston fixed
calipers at the front and single-piston floating-calipers brakes with
integrated parking brake at the rear. Calipers are finished in
High-gloss Blue, with High-gloss Black and High-gloss Red as options.

The optional M Carbon ceramic brakes with six-piston fixed calipers
at the front and single-piston floating calipers at the rear provide a
significant reduction to unsprung weight, being some 23 kg lighter.
The M Carbon ceramic brakes are recognisable by their gold-coloured
calipers with M logo and provide increased braking performance over M
Compound brakes, along with improved fade resistance, higher thermal
stability and enhanced wear characteristics.

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems

The 2021 BMW M5 Competition is equipped with standard Assist features
designed to deliver Lane Departure Warning with steering intervention,
Frontal collision and pedestrian warning with braking function, Blind
Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Rear Collision Prevention,
and Speed limit information.

Optional on on the BMW M5 Competition is Driving Assistant
Professional which adds Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go,
Extended Traffic Jam Assist for limited access highways – a Level 2
autonomous assist system which helps to reduce fatigue in stop and go
freeway traffic by allowing for extended hands free vehicle operation,
Lane Keeping Assistant with side collision avoidance, Evasion Aid,
Front Cross-Traffic Alert, and Emergency Stop Assistant – which can
help guide your BMW to the shoulder and bring it to a halt in a
medical emergency situation.

As part of the standard Live Cockpit Professional, the Navigation
system is enhanced with 3D visualizations of the surrounding area,
depicting all of the cars, trucks and motorcycles registered by the
cameras and sensors in the driver’s current lane as well as those in
any adjacent lanes. They are shown in the central section of the
instrument display. Vehicles within a critical distance are
highlighted. Graphics indicate maneuvers which can be carried out with
the help of the assistance systems. This ensures the driver has an
overview of the situation and relevant courses of action at all times.
If route guidance is activated, the screen also shows a panel with
navigation instructions above the 3D view.

The Navigation has also been improved with a new digital cloud-based
feature called BMW Maps. The benefits are faster route calculations
and dynamic recalculation based on precise real-time traffic data. The
route is worked out using an anticipatory approach, meaning upcoming
traffic along the entire route is factored into the calculation of the
expected arrival time. Complete traffic data is now available for more
minor roads, too. Hazard warnings transmitted online from the BMW
fleet now reach the car even faster thanks to connected navigation.
These improvements help to produce a very accurate estimate of arrival
time and improved route guidance. The destination input function has
also been improved and now lets the driver enter any word.
Alternatively, the destination can be entered at any time simply by
voice control. Plus, points of interest (POIs) along the route are
described in greater detail, with reviews, opening times and photos.

The optional Parking Assistant Plus includes a panorama view and 3D
surround camera views to assist with parking. The system helps
identify suitable parallel and perpendicular parking spots and can
guide your 5 Series into and out of your selected spot. The included
Back-Up Assistant records the last 50 metres driven at speeds below 35
km/h and can automatically reverse your 5 Series along the exact path
take to help navigate narrow or winding driveways for example. The
Remote 3D View function gives drivers the ability to call up a
three-dimensional live image of their parked vehicle and its immediate
vicinity on their smartphone.

The Drive Recorder, a new feature to the BMW M5 Competiton, uses the
cameras of the various driver assistance systems to record video
footage from different points around the vehicle, before storing the
recordings so they can be either watched later on the Control Display
when the car is stationary or exported via the USB port

The new 2021 BMW M5 Competiton also offers the latest version of
BMW’s Intelligent Personal Assistant to help interact with your car in
a more natural way. Activated by a spoken prompt, such as “Hey BMW” or
at the touch of a button, this digital companion learns the way you
communicate to provide better and more accurate responses. Naturally
spoken instructions can now also be used to open and close the car’s
windows (partially or fully) or adjust the air conditioning. In
addition, the driver can set rules by which the BMW Intelligent
Personal Assistant learns routines that increase convenience in
specific situations. For instance, the driver’s window could be opened
automatically when the vehicle reaches a chosen location entered using
GPS coordinates, such as the entrance to a garage.

Richmond Hill, ON. Today, BMW M GmbH unveiled the
most powerful BMW M5 sedan ever. The new 2019 BMW M5 Competition Sedan
raises the bar for performance, agility and precision within its
class. With engine output increased to 617 hp, sharper responses and
enhanced chassis tuning, the M5 Competition Sedan delivers a driving
experience with motorsport undertones. The new 2019 BMW M5 Competition
Sedan succeeds in blending performance, a superbly exclusive aura and
an unruffled ease in everyday use.

A history of success: Competition, the ultimate in M performance.

The launch of the new 2019 BMW M5 Competition Sedan, along with the
recently announced M2 Competition Coupe, marks the creation of a new
product category within BMW M GmbH’s line-up, with the most powerful
variants of its high-performance cars to be available in the future as
standalone Competition models. This restructuring of the M portfolio
has been prompted by the strong popularity of the various
model-specific M Competition packages. M Competition packages were
first offered for the predecessor to the current BMW M5 and are
currently available for the BMW M4 Coupe, BMW M4 Convertible and
BMW M3 Sedan. Some 40 percent of all previous-generation BMW M5 models
sold worldwide were equipped with the M Competition package. The
line-up’s crowning glory came in the form of the BMW M5 Competition
Edition, which was capped at just 200 units and boasted a power output
of 600 hp along with an ultra-exclusive standard specification.

Exclusive design features.

Light-alloy wheels specially developed for the new 2019 BMW M5
Competition Sedan play a part in its exceptional performance
capabilities and add to the model’s exclusive looks. Other distinctive
design features of the Competition include high-gloss black finishers
on the door handles, mirror bases and mirror triangles, plus the
exterior mirror caps and the mesh of the signature M gills in the
front flanks. High-gloss Shadow Line trim is featured on the door
window surrounds and B-pillar trim.

The kidney grille’s surrounds feature high-gloss black accenting as
does the detailing for the rear bumper cover. This forms a
color-coordinated composition with the tailpipes in black chrome. Both
the rear spoiler and “M5” boot lid logo – which gains “Competition”
lettering – are also finished in high-gloss black.

Moving inside the new 2019 BMW M5 Competition, black seat belts with
a striped pattern in BMW M GmbH colors and floor mats with
model-specific piping plus an “M5” logo provide the finishing touches.
A distinctive “M Competition” graphic appears in the instrument
cluster to greet the driver as vehicle is starting up.

Engine: more power and performance.

The emotion-packed driving experience that defines
the new BMW M5 Competition stems from the unique performance
characteristics of its engine. The high-revving power unit with
M TwinPower Turbo technology developed for the standard BMW M5 has
undergone meticulous retuning to optimise torque and power delivery.

The 4.4-liter V8 now generates 617 hp at 6,000 rpm. Peak torque
stands at 553 lb-ft. between 1,800 and 5,860 rpm (a 160-rpm wider band
than in the standard version of the new BMW M5). This means the linear
power delivery for which M models have become synonymous for is
sustained for even longer – into a rev band where the engine’s maximum
output comes into play. The modified power delivery results in a
faster 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of just 3.3 seconds, while the
200 km/h mark is reached from a standing start in 10.8 seconds –
0.3 seconds quicker than in the standard version of the new BMW M5.

M Sport exhaust system develops an unmistakable sound.

The BMW M5’s 4.4L V8 engine’s technological wizardry includes a
cross-bank exhaust manifold. Here, precisely directed exhaust gas
flows ensure exceptionally quick turbocharger response along with an
optimized gas-exchange cycle.

The new 2019 BMW M5 Competition comes with a model-specific M Sport
exhaust system. This version of the flap-controlled, twin-pipe
exhaust system produces an extremely distinctive sound with a sportier
tone – especially when the engine is pushed hard and at high revs. The
various engine modes, which can be selected at the push of a button,
include changes to the sound emitted by the exhaust system. The
acoustic profile activated by Sport Plus mode, for example, is even
more purposeful in nature. The driver can vary the engine’s aural
character using the M Sound Control button, enabling a quick switch to
a far more understated sound. The M Sport exhaust system makes a great
visual impression too, thanks to the black chrome embellishers of the
tailpipe pairs nestled neatly into the left and right of the rear apron.

Specially designed engine mounts optimize responsiveness and
cornering characteristics.

The new 2019 BMW M5 Competition features model-specific engine
mounts, which have a noticeable impact on its performance abilities.
The engine mounts have modified characteristics and feature an
increased spring rate – from the 3,312 lbs/in. of the standard-spec
new BMW M5 to 5,139 lbs/in. The drive unit’s firmer connection to the
vehicle’s structure results in a more direct engine response resulting
in a more immediate transfer of power to the drivetrain. The car turns
into corners with noticeably greater directness and precision due to
the mountings’ stiffer characteristics.

Power transfer via eight-speed M Steptronic transmission and M xDrive.

The task of transferring the new 2019 BMW M5 Competition’s engine
power to the wheels is handled by the eight-speed M Steptronic
transmission, whose design and functionality have been carefully
designed for extreme performance. Incredibly short shift times and
swift, precise responses to every nudge of the accelerator ensure that
the engine’s capabilities are instantly translated into action. Three
different modes offering a choice of efficient, sporty or ultra-high
performance driving can be activated using the Drivelogic rocker
switch on the gear selector. Manual gear selections are possible with
either the selector lever or the shift paddles on the steering wheel.
A specially designed transmission oil cooler keeps the transmission
operating within the desired temperature range, even when the car is
being pushed to the limit on the track.

The M xDrive system, which made its debut in the standard version of
the new 2019 BMW M5, already has all the required tools to deliver
scintillating performance. The intelligent all-wheel-drive technology
is capable of effortlessly directing the BMW M5 Competition’s greater
power to the road in and generating just enough extra traction to
achieve acceleration times worthy of a super-sports car. The centrally
controlled interaction between M xDrive and the Active M Differential
is largely responsible for channelling the engine’s remarkable output
to the car’s wheels without any loss of power en route. The engine’s
torque is distributed between the front and rear wheels by the
transfer case’s fully variable, electronically controlled multi-plate
clutch, before the Active M Differential splits it again as needed
between the two rear wheels.

The rear-wheel bias of the M xDrive system contributes to the
tremendous agility of the high-performance sedan. The system makes it
possible to program in an individual power distribution configuration,
and the driver is able to influence both the way the DSC (Dynamic
Stability Control) works and how drive torque is distributed between
the front and rear axles – all at the press of a button. As an
alternative to the basic setting, the new BMW M5 and M5 Competition
both offer a choice of M Dynamic mode offering greater slip angles and
particularly fun handling, as well as three additional modes with DSC
deactivated that are geared towards track driving. Besides the 4WD and
4WD Sport modes, there is the option of pure rear-wheel drive (2WD),
which allows experienced and skilled drivers to revel in the
experience offered by past generations of the BMW M5 – i.e. handling
in its purest form, with no control system intervention.

Model Specific chassis tuning for the ultimate precision and performance.

Like every BMW M car, the new 2019 BMW M5 Competition is equipped
with chassis technology matched to the performance characteristics of
its engine. The modifications ensure precisely controllable handling
at all times, even in extremely dynamic driving situations. This is
down to the M-specific kinematic and elastokinematic properties of the
high-performance sedan’s double-wishbone front suspension and
five-link rear suspension. They result in neutral steering behaviour
and a linear build-up of lateral force up to the car’s dynamic limits.
An M-specific version of the Variable Damper Control system is fitted,
the Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus modes selectable at the press of a
button activating different damper settings. The electromechanical
M Servotronic steering conveys a sense of supreme accuracy on turn-in,
while delivering clear feedback to the driver.

The 2019 M5 Competition ride height has been lowered by
seven millimetres compared to the M5 Sedan, with additional,
model-specific chassis tuning, featuring tweaks to the springs and
dampers. Increased negative camber at the front axle enhances the
car’s ability to absorb lateral forces through high-speed corners.
Fitting the toe links with ball joints instead of rubber mounts has
resulted in more precise wheel guidance at the rear axle. The spring
rate of the rear anti-roll bar is firmer, causing the body roll that
occurs through high-speed corners to be distributed with a pronounced
rear bias.

The front axle of the new 2019 BMW M5 Competition is equipped with a
redesigned mounting for the anti-roll bar. Making the springs at the
front and rear axles ten per cent stiffer than the standard version of
the new BMW M5 produces a firmer ride and has a positive impact on
steering response. Shorter auxiliary springs reduce fluctuation in
wheel loads, as does the unique tuning for the damper hydraulics.
The athletic character of the new 2019 BMW M5 Competition really comes
out with the three modes selectable at the touch of a button. This
means the direct connection of chassis to driveline can also be
clearly felt in Comfort mode. Selecting Sport mode activates the
damper settings perfected for harsher tarmac and curbing of a track
like Nürburgring’s Nordschleife circuit. Sport Plus lends itself to
the smoother pavement and curbing of grand prix circuits.

The ultimate in braking and grip.

The outstanding stopping power of the new 2019 BMW M5 Competition is
provided by low-weight M compound brakes, featuring six-piston fixed
calipers and perforated, inner-vented brake discs at the front wheels
and single-piston floating callipers with integrated parking brake at
the rear. The optional M carbon-ceramic brakes, distinguished by their
even lower weight, offer greater extreme thermal stability and
excellent resistance to wear.

Standard specification for the new 2019 BMW M5 Competition includes
exclusive M light-alloy wheels sporting a Y-spoke design in a
bi-colour finish. The 20-inch forged wheels are shod with tires
measuring 275/35 R 20 at the front and 285/35 R 20 at the rear.

Press Contact: Marc Belcourt
Tel: +1-905-428-5078
E-mail: marc.belcourt@bmwgroup.ca

Press Release,F90,M5,Product,BMW M

Munich. The BMW M5 (combined fuel consumption: 10.5
l/100km*; combined CO2 emissions: 241 g/100km*) has been
voted "World Performance Car 2018", making this the seventh
time BMW has received a World Car Award from the organisation
"World Car of the Year". The award ceremony was held on 28
March 2018 at the 2018 New York International Auto Show.

There were a total of eleven vehicles in this category –
performance-oriented cars of which at least 2,000 units are produced
per year and which are available for purchase on at least two
continents from 1 January 2017 until 31 May 2018. Selection and voting
in all categories was carried out by an international jury made up of
82 leading automobile journalists from 24 countries.

The BMW M5 is fitted with the latest version of the 4.4-litre V8
engine with M Twin Power Turbo Technology. An output of 600 hp and a
maximum torque of 750 Nm guarantee supreme propulsion and phenomenal
driving performance: the V8 biturbo engine accelerates the M5 from 0
to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds. The new M5 features the M specific
all-wheel drive system M xDrive. Power transmission is taken care of
by the new 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic: in
conjunction with M xDrive, this ensures the power of the high-revving
turbocharged engine is transferred to the road in perfect fashion.

* The fuel consumption and CO2 figures are provisional and
were calculated based on the EU test cycle, dependent on tyre format.

Press Contact: Marc Belcourt
Tel: +1-905-428-5078
E-mail: marc.belcourt@bmwgroup.ca

Press Release,Concept Vehicles & Design,F90,M5,Product,BMW M

Richmond Hill, ON. Reinforcing its commitment to
offer 25 electrified models –12 of which will be purely electric – by
2025, BMW Group will showcase five electric vehicles at the 2017 Los
Angeles Auto Show including the North American premieres of the
BMW i Vision Dynamics, MINI Electric Concept, BMW
i3s, and a World Premiere vehicle that will be shown during
the BMW Group press conference on Wednesday, November 29 at
8:50 a.m. PST at the BMW Stand in the Los Angeles Convention Center.
The press conference will be livestreamed on
www.BMWUSANews.com.

In addition, the BMW M3 CS will make its world premiere, and the BMW
8 Series Concept and the BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo will make their
North American premieres. The BMW Concept X7 iPerformance and the
all-new BMW M5 will also be featured.

The BMW i Vision Dynamics is an all-electric,
emission-free four-door Gran Coupe that accelerates from 0-100km/h in
four seconds, has a top speed of over 200km/h with a range of 600
kilometres. The BMW i Vision Dynamics combines electric mobility with
the core values of BMW – dynamism and elegance – and demonstrates how
the product range and design language of BMW i can be further
incorporated into other models. The new characterization of BMW i’s
iconic window profile is a standout feature of the BMW i Vision
Dynamics, offering all passengers equally striking views out of the
vehicle to lend a shared driving experience – a factor that will
become increasingly relevant as semi- and fully autonomous driving
become closer to commonplace.

Fully electric vehicles will run across the BMW Group portfolio and
MINI will showcase its take on future personal mobility in the city
with the North American premiere of the MINI Electric
Concept. Designed for use in urban areas, this MINI Electric
Concept vehicle offers a window into how pure-electric day-to-day
mobility might look in the years ahead. The concept vehicle brings the
iconic design, city-dwelling heritage and customary go-kart feeling of
the MINI brand into the electric mobility age. MINI will then present
an all-electric series-production model in 2019.

The new BMW i3s is a sportier and more powerful
variant of the BMW i3, the best-selling compact battery-electric
vehicle in the premium compact segment worldwide since it launched in
2014. The first ever BMW i3s provides an even sportier interpretation
of silent mobility with zero emissions and features a high output 184
hp electric motor that generates peak torque of 199 lb-ft. The BMW i3s
accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and has a top speed of 160
km/h.The BMW i3s uses a lithium-ion high-voltage battery developed by
the BMW Group with a cell capacity of 94-ampere hours (Ah). Like the
BMW i3, the BMW i3s applies the concept of sustainability throughout
the interior and exterior of the vehicle, incorporating recycled
plastics, renewable raw materials, natural fibres, and open-pored,
unbleached eucalyptus wood in the design. The new BMW i3s will be
available in Canadian showrooms in early 2018. MSRP has been announced
at starting from $52,350.

The first-ever BMW M3 CS will make its world debut
in Los Angeles. The special-edition model delivers a fine blend of
high performance and complete everyday practicality. The extensive use
of carbon fibre-reinforced plastic has kept the BMW M3 CS extremely
light, around 25 per cent lighter than a standard M3. The M TwinPower
Turbo technology six-cylinder inline engine yields 453 hp generating a
peak torque of 443 lb-ft. The BMW M3 CS accelerates from 0-100 km/h in
just 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 280 km/h. The BMW M3 CS will
be available to order starting in second quarter 2018. Pricing will be
announced closer to market launch.

The BMW 8 Series Concept marks the long-awaited
return of the BMW 8 Series. The pinnacle of luxury for BMW, the BMW 8
Series Concept combines razor-sharp dynamics and modern luxury, and is
a precursor to the BMW 8 Series Coupe that’s scheduled for launch in
2018. Its exterior brings together the past and the future: the body
is unmistakably a BMW, but it also displays new design ideas and
form-building techniques, offering a fresh interpretation of BMW
styling cues.

The BMW X7 iPerformance Concept introduces a new
model concept for the premium segment that utilizes BMW eDrive
technology with a BMW TwinPower Turbo petrol engine creating an
exceptionally efficient and dynamic plug-in hybrid powertrain that
excels in all driving situations, including running with zero local
emissions. With a generously-sized, six-person interior, the BMW X7
iPerformance Concept offers an interior with a state-of-the-art
infotainment system brimming with connectivity that provides an
unmatched experience by any BMW past or present. As a result of the
interplay between precise, pared-down forms and an open sense of
space, the driver and passengers are immersed in a unique, modern setting.

The all-new BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo is offered
exclusively in the BMW 640i xDrive variant and has a distinct
coupe-inspired aerodynamic design. Featuring the award-winning BMW
TwinPower Turbo technology, the six-cylinder inline gasoline engine
generates maximum output of 335 hp and peak torque of 332 lb-ft,
accelerating from 0-100 km/h in just 5.3 seconds. The intelligent
lightweight chassis construction paired to the standard eight-speed
Steptronic Sport automatic transmission with paddle shifters, improved
aerodynamics featuring BMW Active Kidney Grille, Air Curtains, Air
Breathers and active rear spoiler, a double wishbone front suspension,
and standard rear air suspension create a sporty and dynamic
experience. The all-new 2018 BMW 640i xDrive Gran Turismo is available
in showrooms now, with an MSRP of $76,700.

The BMW M5 has been regarded as the quintessential
high performance sports sedan since its initial iteration launched in
1984. The 2018 BMW M5 marks the debut of the first ever M-specific
all-wheel drive system, M xDrive, which allows the BMW M5 to reach new
heights of dynamic performance and deliver poise in all driving
situations. Thanks to a 4.4-litre V8 engine featuring M TwinPower
Turbo technology, the BMW M5 produces 600 hp and 553 lb-ft of peak
torque, skyrocketing from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds, making it
the quickest and most agile to date. The 2018 BMW M5 will be available
in showrooms during first quarter 2018, with an MSRP of $113,300.

Winner’s car presented at the MotoGP season finale in Valencia.

Valencia. The record holder continued his winning streak in the BMW M
Award: Marc Márquez was the fastest qualifier in the
MotoGPTM once again in 2017, which saw him clinch the
coveted award for the fifth time in a row. The Spaniard won the BMW M
Award this season with a total of 343 points and a considerable
advantage of 86 points over his closest rival Maverick ViñalesThis
year, Márquez was rewarded for his qualifying performances with the
new BMW M4 CS (combined fuel consumption: 8.4 l/100 km; combined CO2
emissions: 197 g/km*). The official award ceremony took place on
Saturday as part of the MotoGP finale in Valencia, Spain. This year’s
winner’s car was presented to Márquez by Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of
MotoGP promoter Dorna Sports, and Frank van Meel, President of BMW M GmbH.

Márquez races from record to record in the BMW M Award. In 2013, he
became the first rookie ever to win this prestigious competition.
Márquez repeated the success in 2014, and in 2015 became the first
rider to win three back-to-back BMW M Awards. His fourth straight win
in 2016 made him the sole record holder and this year he continued his
historic success streak.

This sees Márquez add a BMW M4 CS in San Marino Blue Metallic to his
collection of BMW M Award winner’s cars. The high-performance car is
powered by a M TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder engine, which
generates 460 hp and 600 Nm of torque and allows outstanding
performance across the full range of engine speeds (combined fuel
consumption: 8.4 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 197 g/km*). In
addition, the car is equipped with a host of other high-performance
components including the Active M differential and a particularly
athletic designed M double-clutch transmission with Drivelogic. Other
highlight features of this year’s winner’s car are the exclusive alloy
wheels inspired by motorsport and the innovative OLED rear lights. The
athletic appearance of the BMW M4 CS continues inside the car – from
the lightweight M sport seats in anthracite-coloured Alcantara leather
to the M Alcantara steering wheel and many more exquisite details.

“I know just how much the BMW M Award is coveted among us MotoGP
riders and that is why I am particularly proud to have won it for the
fifth time in a row,” said Márquez at the award ceremony in Valencia.
“BMW M GmbH comes up with something special every year, and I’m really
excited to be able to call the BMW M4 CS my own now. Incidentally,
after five wins, my motivation is unwavering and my clear goal for
next year is to win the BMW M Award for the sixth time!”

“The BMW Award has long been a firm and important part of the MotoGP,
and we are delighted to be celebrating a milestone this year, with the
15th award,” said Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna Sports.
“The long tradition of the BMW M Award also proves just how close and
strong our partnership with BMW M GmbH is. It is fantastic that BMW M
GmbH honours the performances of the best qualifier with such
exclusive high-performance automobiles, as they did this year with the
BMW M4 CS. Marc Márquez’s winning streak in the BMW M Award is quite
spectacular – congratulations on another outstanding performance.”

“You can only take your hat off to Marc Márquez: he has been the
fastest qualifier in the MotoGP since 2013, making him unbeaten in the
BMW M Award. Congratulations on the fifth win in a row,” said Frank
van Meel, President of BMW M GmbH. “I’m sure that he will experience
sheer driving pleasure with the new BMW M4 CS – just as he did with
his four winner’s cars from previous years. We are proud of this
little milestone that we are celebrating today: the 15th
presentation of the BMW M Award. It is very important to us to honour
the performances of the MotoGP riders over the course of the season,
and we are delighted that this award has been so prized by the entire
MotoGP family for many years.”

As a long-standing partner of Dorna Sports, this season saw BMW M
GmbH present the BMW M Award for the 15th time. Just like
the points system for the races, riders at each Grand Prix weekend are
awarded points relative to their positions in qualifying. The rider
with the most points at the end of the season wins the BMW M Award in
form of an exclusive BMW M car. Marc Márquez is the record holder with
five wins in a row. Valentino Rossi and Casey Stoner both have three
BMW M Awards to their name. Jorge Lorenzo has earned the coveted title
of top qualifier twice so far. Sete Gibernau and Nicky Hayden have
both won once.

Debut at the 2017 MotoGP season finale in Valencia.

Munich. Innovative high-performance cars for safety at the highest
level of motorcycle racing: the BMW M GmbH has remained true to this
principle throughout nearly 20 years of partnership with the MotoGP
organizer Dorna Sports, and as the “Official Car of MotoGP”. That is
especially true of the new BMW M5 MotoGP Safety Car, which the company
from Munich is presenting as the next highlight in the Safety Car
fleet. The new course car is based on the high-performance sedan BMW
M5 (combined consumption: 10.5 l/100 km*; combined CO2 emissions:
241 g/km*), which was showcased to the global public for the first
time in August. The new BMW M5 MotoGP Safety Car will debut at the
MotoGP season finale in Valencia, Spain (10th to
12th November) and will speerhead the Safety Car fleet in
the 2018 season.

“A MotoGP Safety Car faces enormous challenges. It is vital to lead a
field of unique, high-performance race prototypes safely through all
sorts of conditions,” said Frank van Meel, President of BMW M GmbH.
“Innovative motorsport technology is an essential part of this. The
new BMW M5 forms the perfect basis for a safety car, as its technical
features ensure perfect handling, even at the limits of driving
dynamics - on the road and on the racetrack. Development never stands
still in MotoGP, which is always pushing its limits further and
further. The same is true for the BMW M GmbH - and the new M5 MotoGP
Safety Car is an outstanding example of our pursuit of innovation and
maximum levels of performance.”

The features in question include the newly-developed M-specific
all-wheel drive M xDrive, which is being used in the BMW M5 for the
first time. With precise handling and perfect traction, this
guarantees optimised driving dynamics in all manner of situations. The
heart of the BMW M5, the 4.4-litre V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo
technology, has been completely overhauled by the M engineers. It
represents another significant increase in performance compared to
previous models, with 441 kW/600 HP and maximum torque of 750 Nm in
the production M5. The new BMW M5 only needs 3.4 seconds to accelerate
from 0 to 100 km/h. Transmission is provided by the new eight-speed M
Steptronic gearbox with Drivelogic. The chassis contains M-specific
kinematics and elastokinematics elements that contribute to optimised
driving dynamics. The weight also plays an important role in
performance. This has been reduced further through features such as
the lightweight carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) roof.

Painstaking manual work at the BMW M Manufaktur in Garching converted
the high-performance base car into the BMW M5 MotoGP Safety Car,
preparing it to appear as the course car in the world’s fastest
motorcycle racing series. This process included the addition of
numerous BMW M Performance Parts, many of which are available as
retrofit parts for the BMW M5 production model. These emphasise the
sporty appearance of the Safety Car and meet all the functional
requirements for aerodynamics, cooling and lightweight construction.
These include various carbon components such as side sills, rear
diffusor, rear spoiler, front kidney grille, door mirror caps and air
breather slats. The BMW M Performance sport exhaust system is made of
titanium, with carbon exhaust tips, and has been designed specially
for use on the racetrack.

The transformation of the BMW M5 to a MotoGP Safety Car was completed
by the inclusion of special racing features and the necessary safety
equipment. The front splitter is a prototype developed specifically
for the BMW M5 MotoGP Safety Car. The bonnet latches are taken
directly from racing. The bucket seats from the BMW M4 GTS guarantee a
combination of comfort and maximum security for their occupants when
being in action on the racetrack. The flat light bar on the roof uses
modern LED technology. It is controlled via a specially-developed
cockpit panel. Another important signalling system is provided by the
flashing front lights, consisting of blue LED lamps in the front
grills and flashing corona rings for the headlamps.

The design of the new BMW M5 MotoGP Safety Cars also makes a clear
racing statement: it is inspired by the design of the new BMW M8 GTE
race car, which will compete for BMW at the 24 Hours of Le Mans next
year. Series developers from BMW M and the BMW Motorsport department
worked hand in hand on development of the BMW M8 GTE. The design
reflects this close cooperation.

The partnership between the BMW M GmbH and Dorna Sports dates back to
1999. The provision of the BMW M fleet is the core of the involvement
as “Official Car of MotoGP”. There are also a host of other
activities. The BMW M Award for the best MotoGP qualifier has been
presented at the end of every season since 2003. The BMW M MotoGP
Experience gives visitors the chance to experience the MotoGP at first
hand. The BMW M MotoGP experts give them exclusive insights. On
selected Grand Prix weekends, the BMW M GmbH presents its newest
models and products in on-site actions.

Richmond Hill, ON. Today, BMW unveiled the all-new
2018 BMW M5, a car that since 1984 has been regarded as the
quintessential high-performance sedan. The various generations of the
BMW M5 have always possessed pure-bred racing genes and acquitted
themselves impressively on the race track as well as on the road.

The all-new BMW M5 represents the 6th generation and, like
those that have gone before it, promises to continue the record of
building distinctive high-performance cars. Making its debut in the
new M5 is the new M-specific all-wheel-drive system, M xDrive. This
new system allows the M5 to reach new heights of dynamic performance,
excels in terms of everyday practicality and delivers poise in all
driving situations. Frank van Meel, Chairman of the Board of
Management at BMW M GmbH, explains the benefits of this pioneering
drivetrain technology: “Thanks to M xDrive, the all-new BMW M5 can be
piloted with the familiar blend of sportiness and unerring accuracy
both on the race track and out on the open road, while also delighting
drivers with its significantly enhanced directional stability and
controllability right up to the limits of performance when driving in
adverse conditions such as on wet roads or snow.”

When the engine is first started, the all-new BMW M5 will be in
all-wheel-drive mode (4WD) with Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) turned
on. The driver is then able to vary the handling characteristics of
the M5 by enabling various driving dynamics modes, including a
rear-wheel-drive mode with no DSC. In this 2WD mode, the all-new BMW
M5 offers drivers the opportunity to experience BMW’s traditional
rear-wheel drive characteristics.

Under the hood of the all-new BMW M5 is the latest and most advanced
version of the renowned 4.4-liter V8 engine featuring M TwinPower
Turbo technology. Output of 600 hp (+40 hp) and peak torque of 553
lb-ft (+53 lb-ft) promise explosive acceleration and formidable
performance. The twin-turbo V8 unit propels the M5 via the new 8-speed
M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic and teams up with the M
xDrive system to transfer all of the high-revving turbocharged
engine’s might to the road, and allows a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration
run in a mere 3.4 seconds, making it the quickest and most agile to date.

The all-new 2018 BMW M5 will be available in Canadian BMW showrooms
in spring 2018.

MSRP and options pricing will be announced closer to market launch.

M TwinPower Turbo, M xDrive and the 8-speed M Steptronic transmission.

The all-new BMW M5 features a 4.4-liter V8 engine with M TwinPower
Turbo technology. The high-revving power unit in the all-new BMW M5
has received a thorough overhaul and delivers its exceptional output
of 600 hp (+40 hp) at 5,700 – 6,600 rpm, while the tremendous peak
torque of 553 lb-ft is on tap from just 1,800 rpm and remains constant
all the way up to 5,700 rpm. Compared to the outgoing model, maximum
torque has been increased by 53 lb-ft. The engine characteristics can
be changed at the push of a button from the basic Efficient setting to
either Sport or Sport Plus, resulting in a more crisp response to
movements of the accelerator.

The M engineers have implemented a raft of enhancements to endow the
twin-turbo V8 with its phenomenal performance capabilities. These
include newly developed twin-scroll turbochargers now delivering 24.46
psi of relative boost pressure as well as a higher maximum injection
pressure of 350 bar (up from 200 bar). This allows shorter injection
times and improved atomization of the fuel for sharper engine response
as well as more efficient mixture preparation. Improvements have also
been made to the lubrication and cooling systems, including an oil pan
with a small front sump and new indirect charge air cooling units,
which are more effective than its predecessor despite being almost 20%
smaller in size. The oil supply system uses a fully variable,
map-controlled pump and has been designed for weekend escapades to the
race track, where it can handle very high levels of longitudinal and
lateral acceleration.

The cross-bank exhaust manifolds for the all-new BMW M5 have also
been modified to optimize the transmission of energy from the exhaust
gas flow to the turbine wheels of the two twin-scroll turbochargers
and ensuring the best possible gas-exchange cycle. By fitting a
Helmholtz resonator between the two silencers of the dual exhaust
system, the M engineers have reduced its weight by 5 kg. The sound
from the active flap-controlled exhaust system varies depending on the
selected mode for the engine characteristics, while the M Sound
Control button also allows to soften its acoustic presence.

The twin-scroll twin-turbo V8’s power is channeled to the road via
the newly developed M xDrive all-wheel-drive system. The rear-biased
set-up ensures that the front wheels only come into play when the rear
wheels aren’t able to transmit any more torque to the road and
additional tractive force is required. The main hardware components of
M xDrive are based on the BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive
system and the Active M Differential technology, while the central M
specific driving dynamics control software precisely orchestrates the
various components.

The reinforced drivetrain allows it to cope with the higher torque,
the rear-biased configuration and the 2WD mode. While the transfer
case intelligently splits the drive torque between the front and rear
wheels, the Active M Differential is responsible for then distributing
the drive flow between the rear wheels varying the locking effect as
the situation demands. These systems ensure enhanced traction, agility
and directional stability at all times. With M xDrive, stabilizing
interventions from the DSC system are only required in extreme
situations, enabling the engine’s tremendous power to be converted
into propulsive force with virtually zero losses. The M xDrive system
allows drivers to command the all-new BMW M5 with even greater
precision and directional accuracy, to respond sensitively and
directly to the driver’s inputs, which in turn enable fewer steering
corrections when driving at the limit.

Drivers can configure M xDrive at any time to suit their needs. Even
in the default setting with both DSC and 4WD activated, the all-new
BMW M5 allows a certain amount of slip at the rear wheels when
accelerating out of corners to produce the agility for which M models
are renowned while remaining perfectly controllable at all times. The
all-wheel drive’s superior traction helps to produce acceleration
times that are simply phenomenal by sports sedan standards and are
worthy of a super-sports car: 0 to 100 km/h in a breathtaking 3.4
seconds and 0 to 200 km/h in just 11.1 seconds (preliminary figures).

Switching to the M Dynamic mode (MDM, 4WD Sport) gives additional
boost to the car’s handling agility. In this mode, more drive torque
is directed to the rear axle, while the amount of permissible rear
wheel slip is increased. While doing so, the onset of oversteer is
noticeable in good time and the linear increase of the sideslip angle
means that the vehicle remains stable.

The three modes available with the DSC system switched off have been
configured keeping track driving in mind. The 4WD mode is set up for
the greatest possible controllability and traction, and already offers
plenty of scope for exploring the dynamic performance capabilities of
the all-new BMW M5. The 4WD Sport mode, meanwhile, with its blend of
supreme steering precision, agile handling and reassuring traction,
guarantees maximum enjoyment and consistent lap times. The pure
rear-wheel-drive mode (2WD) has been designed with the experienced and
highly skilled driver in mind. This opens up the same thrilling
experience already offered by past generations of the M5.

The new 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic has also
been strictly geared towards high-performance duty. The incredibly
short shift times and optimal gear ratio spacing ensure that even the
most demanding driver will appreciate its technological prowess. The
wide ratio spread of the 8-speed M Steptronic unit helps to optimize
fuel efficiency.

The M Steptronic transmission allows fully automatic shifting in D
mode and sequential gear shifts using either the new short gear
selector on the center console or the M shift paddles on the steering
wheel. The transmission has been engineered so the torque converter
lock-up clutch fully engages once the car has pulled away, providing
instantaneous response and lightning-fast gear changes in classic M style.

The transmission’s shift mapping can be modified using the Drivelogic
rocker switch in the gear selector. Drivelogic mode 1 corresponds to
efficient driving. Mode 2 lends itself to sporty driving with its
shortened shift times. And Drivelogic mode 3 is optimized for
high-sporty driving on the track thanks to its extremely short shift
times. Those preferring to shift gears manually can also execute
multiple downshifts to the lowest available gear, for instance when
braking into tight corners. With S manual mode engaged, there are no
automatic upshifts when the engine is revved to the limit either. A
transmission oil cooler ensures flawless transmission operation even
when the car is put through its paces on the track.

Newly Developed chassis technology. A new benchmark in driving dynamics.

Unbeatable driving dynamics with maximum directional stability – that
was the goal of the team responsible for tuning the all-new BMW M5
chassis. As is usual for BMW M GmbH, the tuning took place in part on
the company’s own race circuit at Miramas in the south of France, as
well as on the world’s toughest test track, the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

The precise, agile handling that drivers have come to expect from
previous generations of the M5 has been optimized for the all-new car.
Individual driver needs are met by the wide range of options for
configuring the vehicle, including: M xDrive, the 8-speed M Steptronic
with Drivelogic, the M-specific Variable Damper Control (incl. three
driving modes: Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus) with electronically
controlled shock absorbers and M Servotronic steering (incl. three
driving modes: Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus). A top priority when
tuning the chassis of the all-new BMW M5 was to achieve neutral
steering behavior. An important factor here is linear build-up of
transverse loads across the full range of lateral acceleration.
Whatever the driving situation, the electromechanical M Servotronic
steering delivers exactly the right amount of steering torque. This
ensures that the all-new BMW M5 has superbly accurate steering and
always communicates clear feedback to the driver. What’s more, because
of all of these systems the car is great for long-distance driving or
touring along the city thanks to the low steering force required for
maneuvering and parking.

The familiar double-wishbone suspension from the front axle of the
BMW 5 Series has been reworked from the ground up for the all-new BMW
M5 with M xDrive. M engineers have redesigned every component to
factor in M-specific kinematic and elastokinematic characteristics.
Directional stability is greater than ever thanks to the increased
track width. The five-link rear suspension has also been modified to
meet M-specific requirements. New toe links featuring stiffer rubber
mounts help accommodate the increased demands on the driving dynamics
and steering precision, as do firmer anti-roll bars that have been
optimized for stiffness. Specially developed for the M5, the elastomer
bearings on the rear axle mounts ensure that there is no delay in
transferring chassis forces, which makes for superbly direct handling.
An additional steel X-brace and an aluminum transverse strut increase
the stiffness of the chassis linkages at the rear axle, resulting in
improved response. Additional chassis modifications not visible
externally perform functions that are no less important. For example,
an aluminum tower-to-bulkhead stiffening profile and two
tower-to-frontend struts enhance stiffness at the front of the car.

The tires fitted as standard on the all-new BMW M5 (275/35 R 20 at
the front and 285/35 R 20 at the rear) have been specially homologated
for this vehicle. They are mounted on 20 inch seven-double-spoke cast
light-alloy wheels in bi-colour or polished black are available as an
option (front: 9.5 J x 20, rear: 10.5 J x 20). All wheels are ZR speed
rated, making them suitable for the 304 km/h top speed achieved with
the M Driver’s Package (standard version: 250 km/h).

The all-new BMW M5 comes with M compound brakes fitted as standard.
Being significantly lighter than conventional cast iron items, these
have the distinct benefit of reducing unsprung mass. At the front, the
braking force is applied to 395 x 36 (mm) perforated, inner-vented
brake discs by blue-painted 6-piston fixed calipers featuring the M
logo. Single-piston floating caliper brakes see duty at the rear on
380 x 28 (mm) perforated, inner-vented brake discs, with integrated
parking brake.

M carbon-ceramic brakes are also available as an option on the
all-new BMW M5. These brakes are instantly recognizable from the
gold-colored calipers with M logo 6-piston fixed calipers and 400 x 38
(mm) ventilated brake discs at front; single-piston floating calipers
and 380 x 28 (mm) ventilated brake discs at rear, resulting in 23 kg.
reduction of unsprung and rotating masses. This offers many benefits,
including improved driving dynamics and increased suspension comfort.
The M carbon-ceramic brakes provide even better braking performance
than M compound brakes, as well as improved fade resistance and even
higher thermal stability.

Sporting M design with distinction. Form driven by function.

“The BMW M5 has always embodied the perfect blend of mature business
sedan and high-performance components. So you can think of the BMW M5
as the world’s fastest-moving tailored suit.” These are the words
chosen by Domagoj Dukec, Vice President of Design BMW i and BMW
M, to sum up the brief for the all-new BMW M5. Like
all the models to come out of BMW M GmbH HQ in Garching, its design is
M-specific and driven by function. For example, the newly designed
front bumper trim, with its larger air intakes, has the task of
providing the cooling systems and brakes with the adequate supply of
cooling air – even in rigorous use on the race track. The car has a
wider track than its predecessor, and the front side panels (made from
aluminum to reduce weight) bear the signature M gills.

Also carved from aluminum is the hood, whose precise lines create an
eye-catching sculpture and extend visually into the roof. For the
first time in the BMW M5, the roof itself is made from extremely
lightweight, high-strength carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP).

The redesigned rear diffuser, side skirts, the M rear apron and M
rear spoiler, they play their part in giving the BMW M5 its powerfully
sporting appearance, and the exterior mirrors have a dynamic,
M-specific design. In another example of form following function, the
hexagonal central air intake in the front end not only separates
itself sculpturally from the side air intakes, it also incorporates
the oil cooler.

The interior focuses squarely on the driver for absolute control in
all driving situations. At the same time, the BMW M5 offers space for
up to four passengers, a large trunk and excellent ride comfort. As a
high-performance sports car and business sedan in one, it blends the
best of both worlds.

The driver is at the heart of the action. Equipment without compromise.

When it comes to the equipment on board the all-new BMW M5, the
dynamic driving experience is king. The center-point is the driver’s
seat, from where all switches and buttons can be operated with optimum
ergonomic convenience. All of the car’s functions are located directly
in the driver’s eye line. The large digital instrument cluster from
the BMW 5 Series has an M-specific design and keeps the driver
informed on the driving dynamic mode, M xDrive all-wheel-drive
system’s setting and Drivelogic option currently engaged. Key elements
for the sporty driver are the variable rpm pre-warning field and shift
lights that show the best time to shift gears. This data can also be
reflected into the M-specific Head-Up Display.

Virtually all of the driving dynamic systems can be configured using
the central touchscreen display, buttons on the center console or M
sports steering wheel, and the central information display offers BMW
Gesture control. The M5’s engine is brought to life by pressing the
red starter button. Among the essential features for drivers wanting
to easily customize the driving dynamics, are the two red-painted M1
and M2 buttons next to the gearshift paddles on the M multifunction
steering wheel, which allow drivers to configure two individual
set-ups. These include their choice of M xDrive, DSC, engine,
transmission, damper and steering characteristics, as well as the
appearance of M view in the Head-Up Display.

The new BMW M5 is trimmed with Extended Merino leather as standard.
The driver and front passenger settle into M Multifunction seats with
electric adjustment, seat heating and electric adjustment for the seat
depth and pneumatic backrest width adjustment deliver optimum lateral
support. The M Multifunction seats with integral head restraints
provide even better support in the shoulder area, an illuminated M5
logo and extended functions. With their racing-style bucket shape and
the thicker side bolsters of the seat surface and backrest, the M
multifunction seats offer even greater lateral support. For the first
time, the all-new BMW M5 is now also available with all the driver
assistance systems featured in the new BMW 5 Series.

The all-new BMW M5 can be ordered in a variety of exterior colors,
some of which are reserved exclusively for the M5. New additions to
the spectrum include Marina Bay Blue Metallic, an intense shade of
blue. Inside the car, exclusive aluminum applications with a
carbon-structure provide a special sporting flourish.

The BMW M5 First Edition. Limited-run special edition with
exclusive specification.

First come, first served is the motto as BMW M GmbH launches the
all-new BMW M5 with the option of a “First Edition” special-edition
model limited to a worldwide run of 400 examples with 32 units coming
to Canada. The 2018 BMW M5 First Edition will be
available starting spring of 2018 with pricing announced closer to
market launch.

The all-new BMW M5 First Edition has exclusive Frozen Dark Red
Metallic paintwork and includes BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line
trim with extended features. This means that the kidney grille, the M
gills and the four tailpipes of the sports exhaust all come in
high-gloss black. The M5 First Edition is fitted as standard with
20-inch seven-double-spoke light-alloy wheels in black.

The BMW M5 First Edition also has an individual flavor inside. The
Piano Finish Black applications are complemented by a plaque on the
center console indicating the car’s production number (“M5 First
Edition 1/400”), pointing to the exclusivity of this BMW M5. The M5
First Edition comes as standard with high-quality M multifunction
seats. It is also available with full-leather upholstery in Smoke
White with red contrast stitching.
