The New BMW M3 Convertible
With the M3 coupé making its very successful start into the market the second
attractive version of the BMW M3 is just around the corner. The new M3
convertible, a four-seater sports convertible that truly forms a class of its
own, will be entering the market in spring 2001. While practically identical to
the M3 coupé, this car is truly unique in many respects. The striking waistline
and the special flair of a convertible give the car an even more athletic and
powerful look, lending the M3 convertible a lower, wider and more muscular
appearance on the road.
It goes without saying that the M3 convertible comes with all the features so
typical of BMW M, such as the 333 bhp. high-speed normal-aspiration engine, the
perfectly tuned M suspension, the new Variable M Differential Lock, and M
high-performance brakes. The M3 convertible encompasses the unique design
elements of BMW M combined with the well-known qualities of the new 3 Series
convertible. The standard features include electrically adjustable sports seats
with an integrated belt system, a variable roof compartment, Nappa leather, and
a superior level of safety ensured by optimum body stiffness and the rollover
safety system.
Compared with its predecessor, which is already very successful in its small
niche, the new M3 convertible offers an even more sophisticated and refined
interior. The M3 convertible also offers all the power imaginable. Acceleration
to 100 km/h comes in just 5.5 seconds and acceleration in 4th gear from 80-120
km/h is in 5.9 seconds.
The new M3 convertible will be retailing in the Canadian market at a price of
$79,800.
By introducing the new convertible model, BMW is successfully enhancing the
leading role of the M3 in the high-performance segment of the market.
